mrs bradley really is the most powerful fmab character bc she not only made One, but Two of the homunculi love her as family,, like. forget being the most powerful alchemist or whatever bc both wrath and pride genuinely liked spending time with her!!!
pride saying “i liked playing house with her it was… pleasant” when all they do otherwise is bitch and talk down at anyone else in the show is so meaningful!!! wrath saying “my wife is the one thing about my life that i chose” when his entire way of thinking has been dictated to be focused around just being a weapon and running the country means so much!!!
and she doesn’t even know anything!!! she never even finds out (i mean i assume they probably tell her when selim’s fetus is brought out but like we never hear it) that her husband and son were homunculi. she just loves them as regular people!!!
mrs bradley goes through so much and i love her, she’s just a really good example of the whole message about the power of ordinary humans
also the (innaccurate but funny so shh) image of her being like “yes my husband took down a tank :) like its hard?” or “oh yes my son is doing shadow alchemy again oh children are so funny sometimes :)” sends me into hysterics

A neat tidbit of Roy-Bradley parallel I haven’t seen pointed out yet has to do with the scene when he dies. Lan Fan asks for if he has any last words for his wife, and Bradley basically says “No, we don’t need words between us. She understands.” And then, direct quote, “That, is what it means to be the wife of the Fuhrer.”
Because of our negative bias regarding Bradley and how callous he is, the people I watched fma with found this pretty heartless, that he didn’t care for his wife after all, etc etc. But, doesn’t that sound like another duo we know? A duo that is so beloved, and everything but explicitly canon?
Roy and Riza have time and time again acted without much instructions between the two of them, knowing innately how to work together in perfect synchrony, having even developed codes and plans based on this deep understanding of one another.
Roy didn’t need her words to know that Riza would not forgive him for willingly committing human transmutation. And this is like 2 eps before Bradley’s quote. They really embody that state of mind and mutual respect & trust & confidence in the strength of the other imo. And isn’t this fitting? I mean…
That is what it means to be the wife of the fuhrer.

Mrs. Bradley probably could’ve stopped the Promised Day if she just had any form of regular contact with Father tbh. She managed to win over two whole homunculi, I think she could’ve probably stopped Father’s plans if she simply just talked to him every now and then.

Okay but the fact that Bradley still had his Ultimate Eye as a single-souled homunculus implies that Selim will eventually start showing *some* kind of magical shadowy mouth tentacles eventually and Mrs. Bradley will have to deal with THAT and the concept is just really hilarious

Spotted Hemlock
My thoughts on Spotted Hemlock by #GladysMitchell #CrimeFiction #BookReview
A review of Spotted hemlock by Gladys Mitchell – 240225
The first thing to say about Spotted Hemlock, the thirty-first in the Mrs Bradley series and originally published in 1958, is that by Gladys Mitchell’s standards it is a pretty accessible and entertaining read. The plot is predictably bonkers, a melange of rats, more rats, cellars, hemlock, rhubarb, ghostly horsemen and mistaken identities.…
