A neat tidbit of Roy-Bradley parallel I haven’t seen pointed out yet has to do with the scene when he dies. Lan Fan asks for if he has any last words for his wife, and Bradley basically says “No, we don’t need words between us. She understands.” And then, direct quote, “That, is what it means to be the wife of the Fuhrer.”
Because of our negative bias regarding Bradley and how callous he is, the people I watched fma with found this pretty heartless, that he didn’t care for his wife after all, etc etc. But, doesn’t that sound like another duo we know? A duo that is so beloved, and everything but explicitly canon?
Roy and Riza have time and time again acted without much instructions between the two of them, knowing innately how to work together in perfect synchrony, having even developed codes and plans based on this deep understanding of one another.
Roy didn’t need her words to know that Riza would not forgive him for willingly committing human transmutation. And this is like 2 eps before Bradley’s quote. They really embody that state of mind and mutual respect & trust & confidence in the strength of the other imo. And isn’t this fitting? I mean…
That is what it means to be the wife of the fuhrer.
fma AU where everything's the same except selim has internet
(i couldn’t decide whether it should be father or bradley but what i concluded is: pride might not subject father to this but selim would 100% do that to bradley)
