Ok, so, little curiosity.

We all know Raimon is a japanese name, that it means "ray gate", etc. But did you know where else Raimon can be used as a name? Spain.

Well, better specified, in Catalonia. 'Raimon' is an actual name there, being the catalan version of the name Raymond. Yeah, I'm aware the meaning isn't the same, buuuut you get me anyway. Either way, to prove the name's usage we can use the official website for Spain's National Institute of Stadistics, in which there's a widget to see whose provinces have registered that name. On this specific case...

Raimon is a name that unfortunately isn't used much nowadays, and it's proven by the average age of its current holders being 40 years old. Nonetheless its good to know it exists somehow. As you can see, it is registered mostly on the Autonomous Communities that speak catalan (Balearic Islands, Valencian Country, and obviously Catalonia). But did you know whose catalonian province uses it the most? Barcelona.

So. What I'm trying to get to this? There's a particular spanish AND catalonian character on Inazuma that'd name his kid like that. Think about it.

Was gonna add this on a separate reblog, but jokes aside: I genuinely love the idea that for VRoH, there could be yet another spanish representation by the presence of Clario's child. It is interesting to mention that according to the official side manga Honosuto (Eps. 62-63), Clario seems to have a huge interest on Japan and its culture, even to the point of visiting the country himself.

And also adding his huge connection with Raimon + Endou across AreOri, this gives a perfect spot for his successor to be in Japan as an exchange student. Maybe as a Nagumohara student, maybe in another team (The actual Raimon would be too awkward)... I just think it would be a perfect idea. ONLY downside to this idea however, would be that this idea could prove that VROH happens in the AreOri timeline, breaking the ambiguity that was tried to be done by not specifying in which universe this new entry is located.

Star Warrior Bismark illustrations 10

Another one of the few illustrations made for “Seijushi Bismark” realized by “Seijushi Bismark” character designer,  Watanabe Masami (渡辺正美), showing Bismark fighting against the Deathcula Giant Mecha he fought against in Episode 7.

The art is undoubtedly very pretty but, truth is, Bismark never managed to kick the “Invincible beast” (無敵 獣 ‘Muteki jū’).

This image is also part of a set of 8 hand drawn colour illustrations (all of the size of 362mm×514mm), all drawn by Watanabe Masami.

First Impression: Muteking the Dancing Hero

A pair of lovebirds gets doused in black goop and one of them melts away. But then something magical happens: the OP. Ladies and gents, I think we have this season’s best opening song and animation already settled!

But back to the episode. Country bumpkin Muteki arrives in Neo San Francisco, a not-too-distantly futuristic remake of 1980s SF. He bumbles about rescuing first a rat (that looks like a mouse) then an old lady (who flirts with him), all the while throwing shapes—to the amusement of the crowd. He then fails to eat a taco, fails to get a hamburger, and drinks a couple unwanted cream soda floats because the waitress who has mixed up his order (or rather, is incapable of serving anything other than cream soda floats) is cute. Then he goes to an outdoor concert and fails to hear the main act, Aurora.

Apart from the cream sodas, all these failures are actually the work of DJ, a colorful old-school boombox toting rapper-DJ (surprise surprise) who may just know a thing or two more than he’s letting on—about both Muteki and the evil, charismatic Steve Jobs-like CEO who apparently is pulling the world’s strings (through tech, tacos, and pop stars alike), and is likely in cahoots with the giant squid-like globby aliens that are related somehow to the black goop that melts people.

But it’s ok because when DJ plays a certain cassette tape (remember those?), a swarm of tiny cute pink octopuses appears and rushes into Muteki’s blood stream giving him incredible rhythm, a fancy mecha-like hero outfit and…drum roll please: roller skates. That’s right, the title of this show should really be Muteking the Roller-Dancing Hero! He swooshes around with a big grin singing a catchy song, defeats the alien, and the melted masses are reconstituted into sleepy idol fans. What a first day in the big city! Muteki escapes the concert stage, mildly confused as to what has just happened (just like us viewers), and finally makes it to his grandmother’s house after more perilous diversions than Red Riding Hood. And who should be there when he opens the door? I’ll leave that for you to find out!

I have one word for you: bonkers. Ok, two words: utterly bonkers! This episode was cray with a capital Z! The color design is not quite neon enough to be genuinely psychedelic, but it is blindingly trippy nonetheless. It screams 1980s! For the younger readers out there, this is really what the 80s were like, not the chic ‘reinterpretation’ that is dominating contemporary fashion these days. The 80s were bright, loud and completely mismatched. But also a lot of fun, which is exactly what this episode is. Kind of exhausting too though, if I’m honest, and I have a feeling that this is a show that you’ll need to be in the right mood to watch. Or perhaps if you can just make it as far as the OP, the show itself will compel the right mood to materialize in your blood stream (like the octopuses) and you’ll be carried away on this wacky bizarro adventure whether you want to be or not. There are tons of gags, and pretty good ones too, and the supporting characters seem like a hoot, especially Grandma. The dark (and alien?) take on the Apple-Google-Silicon-Valley conglomerate is amusing (as I type away on my Mac, using Google to check name spellings…) and SF is definitely recognizable as the setting. (I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten in that diner down by the pier, though I had root beer rather than cream soda and did manage to get my hamburger.) All in all, a harebrained humorous romp of a premiere. Will it be able to keep my interest once the nostalgia factor wears off? Maybe not. I’ll hang around for a few more episodes to see though!

Funny Shiguru and Juru headcanons?

They really tried to keep their relationship under wraps from the others... but they all found out within a few weeks of them getting together. Apparently, Shiguru’s bishonen tendencies went up to eleven when Juuru was around.

When it was officially announced that Shiguru was off the market, there was... some controversy about it. Mainly, they all wondered how an ice prince-type like Shiguru got someone as sweet as Juuru. Juuru couldn’t help but laugh at Shiguru’s offense about it.

Naturally, Juuru would seethe in jealousy whenever Shiguru’s work involved his character having a lady love interest. But weirdly he doesn’t mind if it’s a guy, much to Shiguru’s surprise. (Let’s just say the reasons aren’t as pure as people would think coming from Juuru.)

After the public reveal a whole squad of Reds showed up at Shiguru’s door and threatened him with bodily harm if he ever hurt Juuru. He also got a passive-aggressive congratulatory note from Hojo Emu, telling him about this powerup he will use to beat him up called Hyper Muteki...

Eventually the two of them moved in together, and they had a little housewarming party with the other Kiramagers as guests. Takamichi brought them a giant hunk of Crystalian gemstone carved in their likeness. It was... appreciated, but no one ever saw it again

Nijigaku 3rd Live Day 1 (online viewing)

Wow a full three-hour concert!!! 

AHHHHHHHHHHH I was crying I’m SO proud of them!!! 

They were so GOOD! Everyone came out strong! 

I did start hearing their nerves show a bit in their voices when the solos started (particularly in CHASE and Dream With You).

But then Mayuchi came out for Poppin’ Up and she KILLED IT! OMG!! She was AMAZING today and that made my heart so happy because I remember how nervous she was for 2nd live. Her voice gave out then and she seemed SO upset. But this time she was so happy and confident and she even did Muteki-kyuu*Believer for encore! When she came out on stage afterwards everyone crowded around her to tell her how good she did and she immediately started crying OHH MY HEART! She deserved the praise so much! 

Doing solos for their first ever dome concert is CRAZY. I don’t think even μ's or Aqours had to go through that. Huge props. Only two of them had back-up dancers. (I think the purpose of which is for moral support and/or so they can see the dance moves on the monitor.)  Kaorin (Shizuku) and Nacchan (Ai). I was... particularly worried for Nacchan because she is... not... the... best... live singer. But the thing is, she always gives 500% and honestly seems the most stoked to be there. She gave her all today too haha. No matter what she sounds like she’s always fun to watch so I can see why she got the part. 

So. I have a special connection to MetLife Dome. By coincidence it was the venue when I saw theater live viewings of both Happy Party Train and Wonderful Stories. Then when I finally got to see Aqours live for real at Next Sparkling it was at none other than... MetLife Dome!! It was shocking to hear Nijigasaki was going to perform somewhere so big. 

When the stream first opened up I was like wow that’s a lot of people. But then I saw the areas above the stage to the left and right were empty. Then when the camera panned around I noticed the upper seats, where I literally think I was sitting for Next Sparkling Day 1 were empty. Aw. Aqours not only had every seat filled, but also the ground near the monitor and standing-room only way at the top. I wonder how much Nijigaku could have potentially filled in actual non-pandemic times. 

Speaking of which the few seats they left open for social distancing were funny. (As if one seat length would do anything.) The irony is they had ample space to properly social distance with all the empty sections and did not. It’s... interesting how much Japan (basically the land of non-pandemic social distancing, what with year-round mask wearing, bowing instead of hand shaking, lack of PDA/socializing outside your group, etc.) is failing at this lately. But see unfortunately Japan is also the land of symbolic gestures/rules that don’t mean anything. Such is a giant arena filled with people and only a few designated open seats here and there. Anyway. 

I was sad to learn Moepi (Shioriko) wasn’t going to be at this one. But then I realized it made sense since this was the first concert based on specifically the anime. So instead we got Yu (Yano Hinaki)! AND the tips of her pigtails were dyed green!! It looked better in real life than it did in the anime seriously. Her main participation was an appearance in Neo Sky Neo Map with her black umbrella in the very end, and they actually had her play a bit of piano. Does she play piano!? They had a close up camera on her hands and they were shaking. It gave me Rikako flashbacks... :( She did great though.

Oh and Tomoriru had dyed hair too! Blue like Setsuna in DIVE! The front area by her ears so you could see it and not the ends though. And Akarin went FULL KANATA! She grew out her hair and dyed it light brown. She said she literally went to a hairdresser and gave them a picture of anime Kanata haha. Omg I love her. I mean... who am I kidding Miyutan is my favorite. But as for the girls I only know through Nijigaku, I’m gonna go with Akarin. Her Kanata energy is so on point it’s amazing. All of them have their character’s vibes but she’s on another level.

Chemii was great too. She sounded amazing and they need to sell Rina’s backpack I need it. She was crying in the end too, talking about how we were the ones who got Nijigasaki this far.

I loved their customized concert shirts for the encore.  Agupon (Ayumi) and Chunrun (Emma) were saying their laced collars made them look like babies so they got together and made baby faces ahaha. 

So... clearly I like Nijigasaki. I like them a lot. But while watching them perform on the same stage where I’ve seen Aqours many times I got to thinking. They really have such a different feel to them. Cheering for Nijigasaki vs. a more cohesive-feeling group like Aqours or μ's just feels different. So in that light... I dunno, I guess I can understand why they would want to create Liella. Hmm hmm. 

Oh another weird thing about this concert. Tomoriru randomly disappeared several times and it wasn’t for a costume change. It was strange. I mean it’s probably none of our business but I hope she’s OK? ??

Frozen Elemental Swordsman

Dynazenon: Yomogi is bothered to learn Yume is meeting someone, not knowing it is with Kanae about Kano, her impression of Kano is different to Yume's, but she points her to another student, Urita, who should have videos from practice. Inamoto-san teases Yomogi a little, suggesting he ask out the Girl he likes before it's too late, and also messages Koyomi asking to meet. Mei and Yume discuss her next steps. Yomogi has a cold from training, Gauma ate at his again. Shizumu is among a group of transfer students, joining Yomogi and Yume's class. He doesn't do much, but knows they have Dynazenon nearby. He also says the Eugenecists aren't responsible for the Kaiju appearing, but they're born due to some human will. Gauma comes to confront Shizumu, he's quickly removed and soon fired, the other Eugenecists didn't sanction his actions. With Yomogi bedridden, Gauma has Yume visit. The Eugenecists find the Kaiju Didoras, which shifts an objects dimensions, with Mujina taking control. Yume borrows DynaSoldier, as Koyomi deploys in DynaStriker and Gauma in DynaDiver. Chise manages to activate DynaSoldier but struggles to control it, Yomogi decides to come, picked up in DynaWing, they in succession form DynaSoldier Wing Combine, Dynazenon and DynaRex, the wreckage again nearly hitting Onija. Yume catches Yomogi's cold.

Heroes' Odyssey: A look at Nise Ultraman Dyna, in reality a Gregore Jin, followed by Alguros, which disguised as Nise Ultraman Agul, followed by Nise Ultraman Gaia, in actuality Mymos.

Saber: Daishinji is keen to study how Nagare reacted to Rekka, but Sophia warns Master Logos will soon be coming for their Seiken, Books, and her portion of the tome. Storous and Master Logos scheme to enter Northern Base, Storious seeking the lock for the key, as Master Logos fires an arrow, damaging the barrier there. Sophia works to repair things, having Daishinji bring Mei and the Seikens to her, as Ryoga and Reika appear to the Swordsmen and Storious and Zooous Predator are also inside. Yuri and Touma hold off the Shindais, Rintaro and Ogami are found by Zooous. Sabela does falter briefly when Saikou indicates they're working with the Megiddo. Durandal's abilities allow him to send Sabela after Daishinji. Zooous overpowers Rintaro, but Buster takes him on so Rintaro can help Mei and Daishinji. Touma finds himself starting to perceive Durandal's time distorted movements. Rintaro arrives where Sophia, Daishinji and Mei are, after Sabela took everything, Ogami has been beaten, Sophia hands them her portion of the book, intending to slow Zooous, as he arrives. Blades fights him. Touma sees how Durandal's power works and uses Elemental Dragon. Rintaro reflects on his mentor's words in the past, and though beaten continues to fight, his resolve resonating with Sophia's portion of the tome to form Tategami Hyoujuu Senki, and he becomes Blades once more. Master Logos psychically tells Durandal to come back, forcefully telephoning him when he tries to keep fighting Saber. Rintaro fights, sensing his will resonating with that of the previous Swordsmen, and is able to use their abilities to completely defeat Zooous. His master's spirit commends him. Southern Base now have Ikazuchi, Gekido and Suzune, and all the books except Touma, Rintaro and Ren's. Zenkaiger: Stacaesar further summons Dekaranger Robo, Kyoryuzin, GaoKing, Muteki Shogun, Ohranger Robo, Victory Robo, Battle Fever Robo, Senpuujin, Daizyujin, Toqoh, Shurikenjin, Gokaioh, ZyuohKing, MagiKing, Go-BusterOh, Kyurenoh, Engine-oh, Live Robo, Shinkenoh, Sun Vulcan Robo, Goggle Robo, Dyna Robo, Change Robo, DaiBouken. Zenkaiser tries to stop him summoning robos, while ZenkaiZyuran and ZenkaiGaon leap into battle with the Robos, but are beaten back just by DaiDenzin and Bio Robo, which suddenly vanish, followed by the rest, Ijirude believing using too many gears at once drained the Geartzinger. Barashitara appears, acknowledging his son as he brings Door World. Barashitara can't remember which of his wives was the human who mothered Stacey, Stacey says she was his 893rd. Door World creates 5 doors, which Barashitara forces each Zenkaiger through one. Stacey storms off, followed by Door World. Kaito finds himself in a family's house, Gaon an office, Zyuran a JP style room, Magine an elevator and Vroon outside a building. Each door they step through brings them somewhere else, but the problem is everywhere, they start trying windows, but they have the same effect, as do other entrances, they find themselves across the country, then overseas, unable to return to Colourful. Barashitara and Gege decide to watch Stacey battle, as he finally finds Kaito. When Kaito implies Barashitara cares about him Stacey is enraged, telling Kaito his parents probably either got murdered by the Tojitendo like his mother, or abandoned him like Barashitara. When Kaito maintains his faith in his parents, Stacey decides he now hates him and his optimism, and both change. He soon summons Maskman and Fiveman, which Kaito struggles with till the others arrive as giants, having made the way without doors. When Door World prepares to fight Stacey kills him, deliberately creating Dai Door World. ZenkaiOh forms so Zenkaiser can fight the newly summoned Flashman. Dai Door World summons attacks from various doors. Zenkaiser uses Kiramager to summon the Mashin for a quick attack on the copies. A proper combo attack finishes Dai Door World. Stacaesar summons Gosei Great and GekiTouja, but they're swiftly defeated by the appearance of the good Battleship CrocoDaiOh, from which leaps Zox Goldtweaker, who introduces himself as a pirate who travels across worlds for treasure, and seeing Stacaesar's gears, decides to help himself to some, placing a 35 Gear in his Gearderinger to become Twokaiser. While Zenkaiser resembles a Gorenger in the colours of Varidorin, Twokaiser resembles a Gokaiger, with some stylistic resemblance to GokaiOh, in gold. He has a short fight with Stacaesar, grabbing 5 Dark Sentai Gears, including Gorenger, but seeing they're not Tojiru Gears destroys them. Stacaesar leaves, and Twokaiser wonders what the Zenkaiger's deal is.

Zenkai File: Zox, Flint, Riki and Katana demonstrate Twokaiser and his forms, and battle against Taiyou World and Sakura Mochi World

Dogengers Nice Buddy: Each of the Dogengers is given a Nice Buddy gun. Ohgaman and Rookie get holsters. After Janken, Ohgaman and Tanaka go out. It seems Ohgaman wants to correct some of Tanaka's flaws. Great Z and Yabai Kamen continue filming when Maid Shitsuji, Uzagi, Nectaris, Gulf, Gallia and some Karamis arrive. The heroes sit down to watch Ginga Shinsei Great Z and see Great Z fighting off the Aku no Himitsu Kessya members, when Tanaka accidentally disrupts filming by walking in front of the camera, followed by Ohgaman looking at it. Great Z uses the Affect System to warp away the AHK members aside from Maid Shitsuji and the Karamis, and Ohgaman and Rookie leap into action. A combined attack with the Nice Buddy Buster freezes the Karamis then freezes them, meanwhile Great Z is beating Maid Shitsuji, so they defend Maid Shitsuji because AHK are their villains. Great Z beats them, then uses a finisher which Ohgaman blocks for Rookie. Ohgaman talks some about Ohga Pharmacy developing his technology, then after a Great Maximum Breaker swings an Ohga sign at Great Z, damaging his shield which Rookie shatters with a shot, but Great Z then warps them away. He approaches Maid Shitsuji, suggesting they join up with him like Shaberryman. Maid Shitsuji, angered, remembers their bond with Yabai Kamen and manages to achieve a new form.
