Ninjago Alternative Universe elemental change with Kai having Water and Nya having Fire powers:

Ok, so before you go hear me out.

#Sibling elemental change

I know it's hard to imagine Kai having water powers instead of fire. It probably would look as if didn't fit him. It's way easier to imagine Nya with Fire element I guess.

But I think it'd be interesting to see his character development with that power. The fact that his character wouldn't fit to his power and Especially adding to this Kai's fear of drowning and the fact that he hates water.

It'd be nice character development to see.

At the begining of the season it'd Kai who was kidnapped by skeletons.

Not because he was weaker than her or something. Kai would probably try to safe his sister and by coocidence got kidnapped instead of her. Just to make sure she was safe he prefered to sacrifice himself.

Nya would train why Master Wu and become a strong ninja of fire to rescue her brother. But also bonded with the other ninjas.

In the meantime she'd also think that Jay's flirting attempts are cute-

Later seasons would also have a big impact on Kai.

Kai was Nya's older brother. He practically raised her. So, the fact that she is a ninja fighting evil and risking her life every day would definitely made a big impact on him.

The fact that Nya is stronger than him, and he cannot protect or help her in any way, would cause frustration, anger, and above all, a sense of helplessness in him.

Kai would try to support the team in any way he could, but the helplessness would still make him feel down and be with him.

From time to time he'd act like a big brother.

He wouldn't like Jay's interest in Nya at first, but later would accept it, since she likes him so much.

There wouldn't be a phase of being a green ninja, because well he isn't a ninja.

Instead Nya would like to become one. Not because of the titel or anything, but becuase it'd mean to be better to improve. Nya wants perfection. She wants to be the best version of herself. So she works very hard to achieve that.

She wouldn't be annoying about becoming the green ninja like Kai- She would work hard to be the best.

In the meantime comes Lloyd.

Kai has way better relationship with him here compared to the cannon.

Suprisingly he isn't irritated by him, but just simply takes care with him. He plays kind of big role for young Lloyd.

Kai is patience with him and tries to teach him and be nice. Maybe it'd somehow remind him of rising his younger sister(?) Kai would spend time with him, shove comfort and some support that he needed and just act like a Big Brother towards him.

Their relationship would be pretty strong.

There would happen at slightly little drama between Kai, Nya & Lloyd. [BUT NOTHING TOO SERIOUS]

Nya would be probably a little annoyed why her brother is so nice towards him. She'd be irrited since Lloyd recently just acted like a brat. (He mostly made pranks like making Zane's costume pink and ect.-) And she doesn't understand Kai's indifference towards it.

But everything would resolve, when Nya safed Lloyd from vulcano and unlocked her true potential.

Bla bla.. to lazy to write next seasons.. But basically Kai would be a big support as a red Samurai, Lloyd's role model and he'd slowly come closer to the other teammates.

He wouldn't be just fire ninjas brother, but feel more like a part of the group.

Then the situation with the ghost would happen.

Sensei Wu would tell him about his Water Powers and that's were everything starts to break.

Kai has to learn how control water.

But the point is that Kai hates water.

Kai can't swim, is afraid of drowning and basicly is aquafobic-

This is the time where he has to overcome his fear to safe everyone.

This is the time when everything that he belived turned into a lie. That%'s the time when his life turned upside down and just everything is a mess.

He tries to deny it. He doesn't belive in it. He hates it.

He hates water.

But in the end he begins his training, because the life of the loved one's is WAY more important.

He starts training with master Wu. Nothing goes well, because of his character that is a completely opposite to this power.

Moreover he got a few panic attacts while being in the deep water that doesn't end well.

Kai hates this power. He doens't accept it as his. He doesn't accept it being part of him. He's basically forced to learn it because of the situation and persuading the master.

But in the end his able to overcome it.

By the talk with someone he's able to see the source of his fear. He finally sees the beauty of his power.

He takes a deep breath and immerses himself in the water, clearing his mind and he's calm.

He's part of the water and water is part of him.

Kai accepts this part of him and is able to control it.

Absolutely I hope that I've demonstrated the true potential of this idea, and how it could indeed turn into something really cool.

AND I HAVEN'T EVEN CAME TO THE SEABOUND PART-

But seriously I hope that someone will notice it. A nice fic could come from it.

I also really tired not to add and lavashipping ideas here, because it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it could have been here something.

I don't know if I will ever write this or not. It's really hard to tell.

But if anyone wants to write this or something simliar to it then go on. I don't see a problem. The more us the better!

A Knocked Over Billboard (And An Alternate Version of Yourself?)

Due to this having both beginning and end notes, the notes will be in bold italics. The summary will be underlined as well.

After the attack of the Crystal King, Mr. F is still under the billboard that Zane knocked over him. However, when Mr. F's body is removed from underneath the billboard and his identity is revealed, Zane must cope with it.

This is my second fic.

This should be crossposted over on Ao3 as well.

When I started writing this, I did not expect it to get this angsty.

Surprisingly, after the attack of the Crystal King, there was not that much damage done to Ninjago City, unlike other attacks from big, and oftentimes also lesser, villains.

Of course, there was some damage to the power grid, but that is to be expected. And, with how often Ninjago City gets attacked these days, it was easily fixed.

However, as said earlier, there was a little damage done to the City. Especially to that random yellow and red billboard advertising Dareth’s lawyer practice. The billboard was completely knocked over with a hole in its left side!

And as usual, someone had to clean it up. When the day finally came for it to be taken away, Zane had volunteered to assist, partly due to the fact that he was the one responsible for it getting knocked over. (He still actually needed to apologize to Dareth about that, actually. But that could wait for later, with rebuilding the Monastery and trying to figure out how to get his powers back and all.)

But of course, picking up the billboard was a tough process. Seeing as how it was on top of a building and all. After many minutes of preparing to lift it and actually starting to lift it, the fallen billboard finally began to move.

And revealed the mangled body of Mr. F underneath.

To say that Zane had forgotten that he had crushed Mr. F under the billboard would be flat out untrue, with him having photographic memory and all due to being a Nindroid. But he certainly hadn’t been thinking about, what with the Monastery and all. (What can he say? Rebuilding the Monastery is very distracting and time consuming work. Even when there are many people assisting you and your family.)

A few of the people working to move the billboard recoiled, including Zane, seeing the condition of the body. However, everyone quickly got over their shock and resumed their tasks, with a few temporarily changing directives to get the Nindroid body out of the way.

Following the extraction of the body and the removal of the billboard, Zane stood there staring at the body, pondering what to do. Mr. F was clearly inactive, having been crushed, so he would not be much of, if at all, a threat to the general public.

The obvious choices were to either dispose of the Nindroid’s parts or give the Nindroid to a scientist for research,

But Zane also felt bad for the Nindroid, having been killed and all. And Zane knew what that felt like. Sure, technically he had sacrificed himself and had been at peace with it, but it still was not a pleasant experience.

Plus, Mr. F was clearly a Nindroid. Meaning that he may have been programmed (and possibly even hacked) to act as a villain. So maybe he had never gotten a chance to act good. Or maybe he was at some point, like Zane, a good android that later got hacked against their will and forced to do things they previously would not have agreed with. Maybe they had a name, a face, a family before, just like Zane has.

Impulsively, in a heat of the moment decision, Zane pulls off Mr. F’s helmet (which is still on his head despite being smashed and damaged). And then recoils for the second time that day concerning Mr. F, seeing a version of his own face as Mr. F’s.

Rather than returning home to the slowly being rebuilt Monastery with his alternate Mr. F, Zane headed to the Samurai X Cave in the blistering hot Sea of Sand. He truthfully did not feel like conversing with the others as to why he had the body of another version of himself a member of the Council of the Crystal King (or the C.O.C.K. as Jay and Kai had started to call it. Which did not make sense. If you were going to include the “of” in the abbreviation, why not include the “the” as well?) with him.

If he had to talk to anyone about it, he’d rather talk to his partner, P.I.X.A.L. Especially since she had been assisting him as of late to attempt getting his powers back. (They had briefly explored the idea of looking into his memories to figure out why his powers had not returned as of yet. But that would mean leaving the others at the Monastery in order to do a whole deep dive into Zane’s memory banks. Though a few of them had spoken about leaving to find their powers again.)

Entering the Control Center of the Cave, where the computers and the majority of vehicles were held, Zane set other Zane Mr. F down on the table towards the side of the room, and proceeded to just stare at the unnervingly still body. Maybe, if it wasn’t Zane’s own face that he was staring at, he would not have been quite as unnerved.

(Was this part of what the others felt when he had sacrificed himself defeating the Overlord all those years ago, then to find out that he may be alive?)

Why had the Council of the Crystal King built a replica of him?

Was it a ploy of the Crystal King? But if Mr. F was a replica of Zane, and Mr. F was also an upgraded version of Mr. E, wouldn’t that mean that Mr. E was a replica of Zane as well? So did Harumi do it? As a way to attempt to get back at the ninja? Or possibly a way to rub it in Lloyd’s face that she had killed his family, and that the only way he could look at the face of one of his loved ones was as someone trying to destroy Ninjago? Or maybe it was to take Zane out of the team and send this duplicate in to impersonate him?

(What if his father created Mr. E?)

Zane could feel his eye start to twitch electrically, which was not a good sign. The only times Zane’s eye would do that if he was going into an emotional spiral, usually about things that do not, can not, and absolutely should not compute.

In the process of attempting to calm himself down, Zane did not notice a certain ninja in cyan come in.

“Oh, hey Zane! I didn’t see you there…” Nya trailed off, staring at Zane’s duplicate on the table, then at Zane.

Zane stared back, seeing all the emotions flash through her eyes, just like they do occasionally when she looks at that one painting that used to be on the Monastery’s wall that depicted a djinn, and apparently a brief period of time that only she and Jay knew about. And had spoken little about. To this day, they had still only really opened up about the Teapot that the Djinn apparently came from, and the fact that Nya had died before time was reversed.

After staring at the duplicate for a couple more seconds, Nya said quietly, “Echo?”

Having never heard this name before, Zane confusedly asked, “Echo? Who is Echo? How do you know him? Why is he Mr. F? And why does he look like me?!”

Noticing Zane’s voice getting higher as he kept asking questions, Nya hesitated for a moment, then somewhat answered, “There’s a lot to talk about concerning this, isn’t there?”

Staring at each other for another moment, Nya’s eyes widened, processing part of what Zane said, as well as Echo’s (?) attire, and she exclaimed, “Wait! Echo is Mr. E?”

Zane, still trying to make sense of well, everything (including his own existence and the fact that Nya knew about this duplicate and never thought to tell him about it and), angrily exclaimed, “Yes! And you knew this duplica- this robot!”

Responding, Nya stated, “Yes. I did. But I didn’t know that he was Mr. E. Or Mr. F. Whatever he’s called now. But Echo was not originally him. I know that for sure.” Hesitating, she pushed forward, “You do know about that time with the Djinn that Jay and I have briefly told you and the others about, right?”

Very confused as to why Nya was bringing up a topic that had nothing to do with this duplicate (and honestly quite peeved that Nya was trying to distract him from the current conversation), Zane irritatingly said, “Yes. Despite this having nothing to do with the obvious issue lying in front of us right now.” (Quite literally in this case, with his alternate’s body (he can’t even deny that it is his alternate anymore!) chilling on the table).

Nya responded, “But it does have to do with the obvious issue. It has everything to do with it, in fact.” Seeing Zane raise an eyebrow, Nya took a second to gather her thoughts, then started speaking. “During that… time… we had been separated from each other, with Nadakhan having captured all of us but Jay and me in his sword. Looking for a place to hide, we decided to go to your father’s old lighthouse, hoping that he would not find us. He did, eventually, but while we were there, we met Echo, your duplicate.”

Noticing Nya pause, Zane nervously questioned, “And? Why was he there?”

Swallowing, Nya said, “This part may be very jarring to you, Zane.”

“Frankly, this situation is already quite jarring.”

“But are you sure you want to hear this?”

Glancing at Echo’s supine position, Zane stated, “Yes. At this point, it is better to know everything about this whole situation rather than to live not knowing.”

Taking that as her cue to continue, Nya slowly said, “Echo was created by your father in the Lighthouse after he had flipped your memory switch.”

Taken aback (even though he had partially expected this), Zane exclaimed, “What?! Why?!”

Nya shook her head, saying, “Jay and I never knew for sure. But we think it was because your father was lonely, and wanted his son back, even though he knew, or at least thought he knew, that he would never see his son again.”

Considering everything Nya said, and looking at Echo Zane (because it was Zane, wasn’t it?) Zane questioned, “Then why didn’t my father bring Echo Zane with us when we found him?”

Pausing with an open mouth, Nya said, “I don’t know.”

The two stand quietly in the Cave, neither knowing what to say.

Then, Zane says quietly, “I would like to be left alone for now… to process all of this.”

Staring at Zane sadly, Nya says, “Of course.” She turned, glancing back for a second, then proceeded to begin walking towards the Cave exit.

Slowly, Zane turned to Echo Zane. He was right. His duplicate must have been hacked. If his father had recreated Zane, there was no way his copy would willingly do all these horrible things.

Despite everything Zane had learned about the nature of his duplicate, and his anger towards his father, and Echo for replacing him, Zane believed - no, he knew - that his duplicate deserved another chance to live. Another chance at life. A chance to be better.

Having finally figured out which of Echo’s parts could be repaired and which ones would need to be replaced by using his own blueprints, Zane could now go get the parts he needed.

Three weeks had passed since his conversation with Nya, and things had changed.

For one, all of the team, with the exception of Lloyd, had left the Monastery in an attempt to find their powers again. Zane was now living in the Samurai X Cave with P.I.X.A.L. working on how to dive deeply into Zane’s memory cache and attempt to find whatever was blocking his powers from returning to him. Because they were there. True power could never be lost. Master Wu had said that many times before and after the attack of the Crystal King.

Two, Zane had come to terms with the fact that Echo Zane existed, with the help of P.I.X.A.L. A few days after the whole billboard incident, Zane had a conversation with her about the whole situation. Thankfully, it was shorter than the one he had with Nya, and P.I.X.A.L. did not try to force Zane to open up about it more.

Even though it occasionally still unnerved him that his father had created a duplicate of him, he could understand why, in a way. And he knew that it was not his duplicate’s fault.

Looking at Echo Zane’s body, in his inner eye, Zane can see his duplicate repaired. A life where his duplicate, maybe one day his brother, can live happily, not having to worry about someone like Harumi or the Crystal King hacking him to do evil again.

Nodding to himself, Zane heads out to get the supplies needed.

Two months had passed since Zane had assessed Echo Zane’s damage. He and P.I.X.A.L. had done a lot of work on repairing and replacing Echo Zane’s parts. They had also gotten further on their work of getting Zane’s powers back, planning to do a deep dive into his memories in the coming days. (possibly even into his time as the Ice Emperor. Which Zane was not looking forward to)

Hopefully, in the next few months or weeks, they would be able to finally turn Echo Zane on, and introduce him to the rest of the world. As a good guy.

It had been a day since Zane got his powers back, facing his memories as the Ice Emperor, as well as coming to terms with the fact that Vex had manipulated him into doing all of those awful things.

Just like Echo Zane, in a way. Both of them had been manipulated by a terrible malefactor hoping to use them for wrongdoing and evil purposes.

And considering all the guilt Zane had felt for his actions as the Ice Emperor, he knew that Echo Zane would probably feel similarly when he woke up. But unlike Zane, he would have someone else who knew how what he had gone through had felt like. And just like how Zane came to terms with his actions, and Vex’s manipulation, he knows that Echo Zane will eventually be able to as well.

A few months had passed since Zane had rejoined the ninja. Due to ninja business, work on Echo Zane had slowed down quite a bit.

But luckily, Echo Zane was complete. He just had to be turned on, which Zane and P.I.X.A.L. would do tomorrow.

______________________________________

But that never happened. A few hours after Zane made plans to turn on Echo Zane, the sky cracked up and turned pink, trying to rip the world apart.

He and the others rode the Destiny's Bounty into Ninjago City in hopes to protect its citizens and figure out what the hell was going on, and then try to stop it.

But after dropping off multiple displaced citizens by the chaos storm, including a kid in an orange jacket who got separated from his parents, the ninja headed towards the center.

And right as they got to the center of the storm, a white blast came outwards, knocking all of Zane’s servers offline, to not wake up until years after.

Some unknown amount of time after that chaos, now known as “The Merge”, a mysterious cloaked figure, possibly a traveler, chanced upon a cave in what Ninjago called the Sea of Sand. They went into this cave as an effort to have shelter for the night.

Entering the cave, they saw many interesting things. Intrigued, they wandered around, coming across the pristine body of a seemingly metal person, with a button next to it.

Drawn by the button, they impulsively pressed it, then recoiled when the metal person began to turn on. Spooked, they escaped the cave, deciding to wander about looking for a different shelter for the night.

Unaware of what had just occurred, the metal person opened their eyes, looking around them to see an unfamiliar cave. Their robotic brain, going many miles a minute, began processing both the things around them currently and their memories, figuring out where and who they are.

After processing everything, the Android came to the conclusion that they do not know where they are. But they knew who they were. They were Zane, created by their father Dr. Julien as a replica of his original model, also Zane, and were built to protect those who could not protect themselves. They were also Mr. E and Mr. F, loyal servant to the Quiet One, wherever she is now.

Having remembered who they are, Zane ventures towards the exit of the cave, looking out. They recognize the surroundings as the Sea of Sand, but the two moons in the sky confuse them. Actually, they noted a few differences in the Sea of Sand that should not be there.

However, instead of being frightened, Zane feels curious about this seemingly new world, wanting to figure out what happened to it. So, taking the first step outside they had in a long time, they finally venture out into the world, fixed and whole again.

You don't know who the cloaked figure is, I don't know who they are, nobody knows who they are. They literally just served the purpose of turning Echo Zane on.

I did originally plan on Zane having a conversation with Jay instead of Nya in the Monastery up until I got to the part where Nya just walked in. And honestly, I prefer it this way. I feel that the conversation was a bit more emotional this way.

Ninja squad line up!

Notes under the cut

Lloyd's oni/dragon features are fluid! His eyes are usually, as mrsnaildood said, Spotify green but they'll turn red the more tired he is. His fingers and toes are smudged but not as dark as his dad.

Jay is completely blind in his left eye, and has a lot of Lichtenberg scars up that side of his body. He could probably lightning bend like ATLA and pass the lighting through his body instead of being the lightning rod. He and Nya have the most actual metal armor of the group! His straps are attached to like, a little backpack or something.

Kai has poor vision in the eye opposite Jay! He still has light perception and near sight, but far sight is blurry and his depth perception isn't the best. Half of his shirts have low necklines because he paid for this flat chest and he is going to make it your problem. He has burn marks up both arms. He usually has eyeliner! I forgot it! Just realized that now!

Nya has a tiny bit of sectoral heterochromia after Seabound in her left eye. Her armor and outfit lean more towards her Samarui X look than they do her water ninja look, and she's got red accents to tie in with Kai. The gold-blue helps separate her from Jay's silver-blue and is intentional.

Cole's rift mark makes his left eye green! I like heterochromia, I can't help it. His arms, legs, and chest have stretch marks, and his earth punch ability follows the lines of it. I don't have a lot of notes for Cole, he's perfect as is honestly. He's got an allergy to sleeves (finding clothes that actually fit him problems).

Zane's got some different metal colors for some fun visual design. It's just for that. His human cloak is optional like Lloyd's but it's something he actively has to do as opposed to his natural form. Subscribes to the Nindroid one tit out look. His "heart" is mostly just for aesthetic purposes, like all the other glowy bits of his skin. His hair is probably some form of like, silicone? Like stim brushes texture.

I think it's really inchresting how this year, in particular, Lego has gotten extremely diverse with its characters.

Like before, you obviously did have Lego Friends with canon races and ethnicities, and it was easy to infer that Ninjago and LMK characters were all Asian bc their settings were Asian (one farrr better done than the other).

But now like, Idk the way one MC of Dragons Rising is undisputably black and the other is undisputably Asian is really cool to me. Then, you also have Lego Dreamzzz, with two black people as main characters, one of which has vitilgo. I just think it's really cool they're actually finally giving characters canon races for once!

THEN, you have physical disabilities, which also are seemingly being properly represented, like with a Lego Friends character having one arm or Sora in Ninjago having a prosthetic.

SURE Ninjago has characters with disabilities kinda, like Cyrus Borg or the Mechanic, but in those cases, both have been used as villains and are side characters, so it's great to see a MAIN character with a canon disability instead.

As promised, here's a masterlist of all the things people said they enjoyed about Crystalized! Just for positivitiy sake :) Plus my own favorites after!

The ninja's reactions to grief! Specifically Zane turning off his memory swith! All of the ninja's responses were really good and in character, even tho the show doesnt go super in depth. (personally i like how they left it up to us to fill in the details after they gave us the main idea as to how they reacted)

Pixal having more screen time! Bonus: her scene with Zane when she thinks he's gone. 10/10 pain

lots of call backs to pilots/season 1! like the original four's interactions with eachother.

Adding on to the previous one, Wu going up to Cole and Jay first, bc they were the first ones of the original ninja he found (not counting Zane) This was somethign I hadn't noticed until pointed out!

Reunions! Cole and Vaniam + the Uply! Benthomar showing up, ect.

The weekend whip being the final prophacy!

Many people said that Garmadon (and fugidove but we'll give him his own bullet point) absolutly STOLE Crystalized. Namely Crystophern and Survival shipping

the fights/battles are epic and have a lot of cool call backs to old enemies and friends alike!

the crystalized whip fucks and everyone seems to agree on that lol

nya being the one to decide to come back And figure out that she had to get rid of her element to do so

dragon forms are cool!

He was terrified of the Black Ninja, ever since he revealed himself as the Black Pumpkin he became more possessive over him and the moment he ravealed his relationship with the rest of their teammates they were happy, they don't know what had happened but they were happy for it.

But they don't know the whole truth, the reason Lloyd kept silent about it is that he didn't want anyone to get hurt, he didn't want his mother to get hurt, he didn't want Master Wu to get hurt, he didn't want Alyssa to get hurt, he didn't want the rest of the team to get hurt and most importantly he didn't want Zane to get hurt.

When he shared the news with the others, they were saddened by the news but nonetheless they were happy to hear that Lloyd was pursuing his dreams of becoming an Idol, even though they don't really know what he sounds like when he's singing.
