Note: I am pro-Gaiman.
Just unfollowed another artist for saying shit like “Str8man” and thinking Neil Gaiman is homophobic for writing two explicitly queer characters, but because they’re not clear about what kind of queer they are, that’s “homophobic”.
Neil: “It’s a love story.” You dumbfucks: “Hur bur but I didn’t see them bareback on screen, that’s homophobia”.
Hint: You have no idea what you’re talking about. The post was clueless too, it was talking about misdirected homophobia in stories, which Good Omens doesn’t have. At no point do any of the characters say “oh no, I’m not gay, it’s that guy over there who is definitely way more gay than me”.
Good Omens is inherently queer, but it’s not explicitly “Two Cis Male Homosexuals Engaging in Buttsex” queer, so that’s pissing people off. Because people are stupid.
Good Omens has touched SO MANY queer people’s hearts. Asexuals, Aromantics, Gay men, Genderqueer folks, Trans folks, Butch women, Lesbians... literally every letter of our wonderful alphabet soup has felt powerfully moved by Good Omens.
If you’re among the few voices screeching “homophobia!” when so many other queers have literally had their souls rocked to the core...
you’re probably in the wrong.

Neil Str8man literally said it on twitter ambiguously as "it's a love story", not specifying of who and in what sense. He said they were agender as a cop out of questions about Aziraphale and Crowley being gay, not as "nonbinary rep".
Stop defending a man who's clearly just baiting people into thinking he's progressive just because he won a GLAAD. He isn't.
I'm not going to get into an argument with someone who won't even come off anon die mad about it

I refuse to actually reblog anything from Str8man but uh here’s receipts on the Neil projecting his own unbelievable blasé nastiness onto a certain anxiety-riddled demon even though it makes no fricking sense.

cool, uplifting story: i saw a cool comic book cover a month ago and i tried to lodge the name of it into my brain but i immediately saw a conservative brony and my mind short-circuited and as a result of that encounter i couldnt remember anything about the comic other than a loose recollection of the cover art BUT my coworker found it today while stickering dollar comics
sad, tragic story: it was a facking neil str8man comic

oh god what even is all that ass-kissing praise? YOU CAN BARELY EVEN SEE IT! hell i'm not even sure i CAN, but yeah, pinnacle of rep right there guys, we can do no better than an out-of-shot-maybe-handhold... jfc this really is jk style word-of-god but this time everyone's eating it up
I heard on a podcast tht like fandom folks have become like sports fans wherebthey have this diehard allegiance to their "team" no matter what and i think a subsect of tht is thinking tht an authors headcanon n intent is super important...
Also like i said in the postt the issue wasbt just there being no handholding it was the general lack of physical intimacy overall. Really stinkeyeing str8man for taking credit for this when like ... Its not in the scriptbook n like ....was neil even on set the whole time ? Did he give the two actors notes on certain scenes (doubtful) when rlly its likely sth tht DT and MS improvised.
