Did anyone already ask for tattoo headcanons for Chairman sera?

Thank you for your patience while I recovered from the holidays and finished researching for the backlog of requests I've received! I love reading for these. I actually got 2 requests for a tattoo head canon for Tojo 3rd Chairman Sera Masaru around the same time. He's a popular guy!

For Sera I decided on one of the Twelve Heavenly Generals. They are Yasha - a race of warriors and one of the Eight Deva Guardians of Buddhism, (along with dragons and Karura) who were the personal protectors of Yakushi Nyorai ("Medicine Buddha"). Sera is a member of Nikkyo Consortium, a select group within the Tojo that works as assassins looking after the well-being of the Tojo. Sera later becomes the 3rd chairman of the Tojo during the events of Yakuza 1.

The Heavenly Generals each represent the 12 cosmic directions, the 12 months of the year, and 12 hours of daylight. Each one is representative of one of the signs of the Chinese zodiac, though there is some disagreement over which warrior is associated with which sign. Sera is listed as being born in 1956, the year of the monkey (coincidentally, the same sign as Kiryu). The Heavenly General for the monkey is either Anchira Taisho or Makora. The generals are not really represented as having individual personalities beyond being fierce warriors, but The Monkey is characterized by being clever, witty and mischievous.

For a flower I chose the Cape Primrose, which in Japanese flower language carries the meaning "listen to whispers" and "respond to trust" which I thought would fit a man in charge of a secret sect of the Tojo, and how trust and secrets play into his role in 1. Sera works as an assassin in the Nikkyo Consortium in 0, working to eliminate anyone who threatens the Tojo, and works his way up to chairman by the events of 1. He is the one keeping Yumi's identity secret, and is involved in the plan involving the 10 billion yen.

Hi, hello, this is Hecate! I go by she/her and they/them pronouns, and I’m 28! This is a low activity or sporadic activity RP blog, because I am lazy, busy, and also bad at executive functioning. I love talking to people and making friends so I’m always happy to chat! Anyway, for people on mobile,you can read about Shiona and read my rules here in this Google Doc! Also below the cut are some interaction ideas, because I know it can be hard to figure out reasons for two characters to meet or interact and that some people find it easier to interact with characters their character either knows or might have heard of.

Shiona’s mother, Masumi, was close friends with Sanesada Ushiro, a member of the Nikkyo Consortium. Furthermore, Masumi had successfully defended some members of the Tojo Clan in court, including some high-ranking members.  

Shiona is a former defense attorney. During her career as a lawyer, she successfully defended Tojo Clan clients and successfully defended several high-ranking members of the organization and its subsidiaries, including Sanesada Ushiro, her mother’s friend.  

Shiona’s father, Tamon Kankata, was the Superintending Prosecutor of the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office.  

Shiona uncovered a web of corruption involving her father, several members of the Ministry of Justice, and a small group of Public Security officers that involved the surveillance of and murders of several attorneys and judicial reform activists. Shiona also learned that her father was responsible for her mother’s murder and had had her killed by a police detective when he realized she was close to unraveling the conspiracy. Shiona testified at her father’s trial and the police detective’s trial.  

Shiona’s best friend, Masahiro Shuya, was a sergeant in the Igara Family, a second-tier family of the Tojo Clan. He was expelled from the clan and now works with Shiona at their co-op business: Shishin Antiques & Interiors.  

Due to her own connections and Masahiro’s connections, a decent portion of Shishin’s clientele are Tojo Clan members or individuals who are part of Kamurocho’s underground and nightlife.  

Shiona has a reputation in Kamurocho as one of its most in-demand interior designers. 

She also has a bit of a reputation for her fighting prowess, her kindness, and her tendency to attract trouble wherever she goes.  

Shiona was born and raised in Kamurocho, so she is well acquainted with the city and its inhabitants.

I don’t think I ever uploaded the full piece here, but this is another one I’m really happy with! I always like using flowers in my pieces because of ✨symbolism✨

I added hydrangeas, specifically blue ones because of their double meaning: On a positive note, it can symbolize “Thank you for understanding me”. But it’s more negative connotation is “cold heartedness” which fits the scene more. After all, he’s a hitman... and Sera has a reputation for being ruthless.

As for the mask, I kind of forgot, but someone correct me if wrong! From what I remember, if the pupils are gold, it can mean that the person is ethereal or “not-of-this-world”. I’m not sure of its exact meaning because of possible mistranslations, but it’s the only mask that differs out of all the other onna masks being displayed. PS - Forgot to add, but if you haven’t played Y0, the masks are part of the Nikkyo Consortium MO. They all wear either masks or drag because, in Sera’s words, “We must always conceal our identities”.

Hi again! My thing, which I mentioned in the tags, was that there is an age gap between them and she wasn't made originally to be shipped at all. To be honest the whole thing between them was act as a parallel to Majima and Makoto. Not quite the same but similar enough. It was spurred on by the things Sera says to Majima at Dojima HQ.

I cant begin to unravel their relationship without like straight up writing a novel, but she was 14 when she was kidnapped and has trust issues with men. She seeks validation from Sera cause he's one of the few men in her life that she trusts. Sera on the other hand feels a need to protect her and shield her due to how he found her. So like any romantic relationship wouldn't start out very healthy at all. It might be fun to write a problematic ship though.

If I do, I'm for sure keeping Sera getting murked. I love angst.

The Nikyo or "Second Teaching" is a powerful wrist lock/control technique used by practitioners of the Japanese martial art Aikido. From an opponent's single wrist grab, the Aikido warrior can inflict extreme/sharp pain causing the attacker to involuntarily fall to the ground & be subdued.

𝟲 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 𝗡𝗜𝗞𝗬𝗢 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦

1: Enemy attacks with a single wrist grab.

2: Quickly step away from the enemy's line of attack, keeping them off balance, reducing their strength/position/vector.

3. At the same time you step away, trail your fingers over the enemy's hand till you catch their wrist.

4: Immediately use your opposite hand to trap your enemy's fingers/hand. Now you have secure control of the enemy's hand & wrist.

5: Bring enemy to the floor by isolating/torqueing/articulating bone & wrist, while at the same time compressing/bowing towards them, putting the enemy in extreme pain.

6: Finish by executing elbow spiral, sending enemy face down to the floor.

Sera: “. . . Yeah.”

Niihara: “Fortunately, the ones who knew what was going on - Takayama of the Go-Ryu Clan, the Jingweon Mafia executive and Han Joon-gi – have all gone missing . . . There seems to be no worry that things will be revealed from their side. But still—do you want to get rid of your relatives?”

Sera: “. . .”

Niihara: “Kuze, Kasuga, and the Arakawa Family . . . I’ll tell the Nikkyo Consortium. It will all be done tomorrow. With this . . . the matter is forever in the dark.”

Sera: “. . . Let’s stop this already. Acting Chairman.”

Niihara: “What . . . ?”

Sera: “Passing the dirty work to those at the bottom, disposing of them when it’s done . . . building a castle in that manner . . . how valuable would it be? I am also a person who has been dyed in dirty work. I know their remorse better than anyone. As long as I take the helm of the Tojo Clan . . . I want to be the superior who is not ashamed of them. That’s why . . . Acting Chairman. Isn’t it time to pay the annual tribute? It’s a painful burden I’ve worked on for a long time. The rest . . . will you leave it to me?”

Niihara: “. . . . . .”

Niihara: “. . . Heh. The burden on my shoulders has dropped. I leave the rest to you . . . Third Chairman.”

Arakawa: “Yeah. Well, count ourselves lucky. However, we take this matter to the graveyard.”

Kasuga: “It was all my idea. But then it was an inconvenience to Oyassan . . . !! 10 or 20 fingers, I’ll offer up as many as you like! Please do with them as you please—"

Arakawa: “Knock it off, Ichi . . . ! I came here to eat lunch.”

Arakawa: “How was he . . . ? Goda Ryuji.”

Kasuga: “Eh . . . ? . . . . . . He was about the same age as me. But he’s insanely strong, it felt like his back was burning brightly . . . I think he’s the kind of guy . . . to have a lot of eyes on him.”

Arakawa: “. . .”

Kasuga: “But I figured I didn’t want to kill him—I can’t explain it well, but that person . . . I thought he was a good guy.”

Arakawa: “. . . I see. Ichi. You too are an admirable part of the ‘Killer Arakawa Family’.”

Kasuga: “For not killing?”

Arakawa: “Yeah . . . for not killing.”

Jingweon Mafia Executive: “Found you at last . . . Takayama.”

Takayama: “Oops. Just when you’re thinking of someone.”

Jingweon Mafia Executive: “Thanks to your plan, reinforcements from the mother country have been destroyed . . . If you hadn’t fought Goda Ryuji one-on-one and gotten rid of him quickly, it wouldn’t be like this . . . !”

Takayama: “Oi, oi, please stop making this difficult. Did ya not agree to the plan? And . . . I’m sure we couldn’t have won no matter how we fought. That Ryuji . . . fufu, he’s strong.”

Jingweon Mafia Executive: “What a stupid thing to say . . . ! I’ll have you die here. I was fortunate enough to at least have hopped onto the plan at my own discretion . . . I can explain away the annihilation of reinforcements. All I have to do is shut your mouth, and everything will be back to normal. Return to my mother country, and move to kill Goda Ryuji again in the future . . . !”

Takayama: “Hmm . . . the plan is still to get rid of Ryuji?”

Jingweon Mafia Executive: “What about it?”

Takayama: “Nothing. Just a little helping hand from me to Ryuji.”

{Takayama suddenly brandishes a knife and stabs the Jingweon Mafia executive.}

Jingweon Mafia Executive: “Uguuh . . . ?! Y-You . . . . . . !!”

Takayama: “I don’t want him to stumble over a boring pebble like you.”

Jingweon Mafia Executive: “Sneaky . . . bastard!!”

{The Jingweon Mafia executive takes out a gun and shoots Takayama three times.}

Takayama: “Uguh . . .”

Jingweon Mafia Executive: “Hi, Hihihi . . . serves you right—"

{Takayama stabs the executive again. He collapses.}

Takayama: “. . . Ha~a. Don’t ya hate persistent men?”

{Takayama collapses too.}

Takayama: “This is . . . my end point . . . . . . . . . well, this was fun. You can have fun too . . . Ryuji.”

Ryuji: “Chief. Give me one.”

Chief: “Come again!”

{Takoyaki sizzles away as someone approaches.}

?: “. . . You have a very good eye. The takoyaki here is excellent.”

Han: “Much like the raw oysters of Jingaicho . . . it is comparable to the ramen in Nagasugai.”

Ryuji: “. . . Is your wound better?”

Han: “Yeah. I slept in a bed for the first time in a long time and I am in very good shape. The journey with you was only camping out.”

Ryuji: “You don’t want to join my family.”

Han: “Thank you for your offer, but I should have declined it before. . . . Thanks to you, Ryuji-san. On a journey with you, I . . . I finally started to live by my own will. So . . . I want to know more about the world. With my own feet . . . as my will goes.”

Ryuji: “. . . . . .”

Han: “Heh . . . we will meet again someday. When that time comes, I may have to call you Chairman of the Omi Alliance.”

Ryuji: “. . . Hmph, expect it.”

Ryuji: “. . . Hey, Han.”

Han: “What is it?”

Ryuji: “Your real name . . . will ya say it?”

Han: “. . . . . . heh. That’s odd. Are you growing senile?”

Han: “I am Han Joon-gi. Given name, given voice, given face . . . But this is me. Everything is now by my choice. So please continue as before.”

Ryuji: “. . . . . . heh. Certainly. I was acting crazy. Stay healthy . . . Han Joon-gi.”

Han: “Ryuji-san . . . please take care.”

Han: “. . . By the way, did you go to the city just for takoyaki today?”

Ryuji: “No. I was settling some rather minor business.”

Han: “?”

Ryuji: “It is my principle to properly return what is borrowed.”

Biker Gang Member A: “Well~, it’s about time to work my part-time job.”

Biker Gang Member B: “You’ve been doing it seriously lately.”

Biker Gang Member A: “I don’t have money for a motorcycle. You can’t be a cool biker gang member without a motorcycle.”

Biker Gang Member B: “Don’t make mistakes. . . . huh? Oi. Uh . . .”

Biker Gang Member A: “Ah? . . . . . . ah. My motorcycle.”

(The answer to the question posed at the very beginning is, “Having the freedom to choose”.)

NOTES:

Since “given name” in general refers to the name you were given upon birth (the one on your birth certificate), plus the fact that it would be kinda weird for Han to be running around with a name that isn’t his after he leaves the mafia to go backpacking around the world, it can be assumed that this Han is the OG Han Joon-gi. As far as I know, people have interpreted that in several ways:

A) OG Han is different from Y6 Han. In a different Han story (which I sadly do not have the card of), the idea of passing down the “Han Joon-gi” name to successors is brought up, although the circumstances in which Y6 Han mentioned it makes the statement questionably true/false (long story short, everything else he says before and after the statement are lies to manipulate someone). Points in favor of this theory include his different mannerisms and even different way of smiling from Y6 Han. Benefit of this is that he is likely still alive even now and still enjoying himself traveling the world 🥺

B) OG Han is the same as Y6 Han. Personally I think this one is more likely, given that RGGO stories are about expounding on backstories which Y6 Han lacked in the mainline games. Plus the fact that they showed Takayama killing the Jingweon executive probably means the request for a new Han did not go through, leaving this Han free to rejoin the mafia in the 15 years between this story and Y6. Really, after the second Jingweon massacre in Y2 he's probably the only Korean still willing to go to Japan by Y6 lmao

C) Schrödinger's Han. Since the Ichiban that they encounter in this story is the Ichiban from RGGO-Y7 and not Y:LAD-Y7, it’s likely that this story is not in the same timeline as where Y6 happens. RGGO-Y7 was said to be just as canon as Y:LAD-Y7, just occuring in a diverging timeline. The stories we know canon to Y:LAD-Y7 are Y0-Y6, while the ones known to be canon to RGGO-Y7 are this one and Yakuza Kiwami 1 (yes specifically that. I’ll explain in the tags later why lol but its not important rn). So, given that we do not know if Y6 unfolded the same way in both timelines, this Han Joon-gi could be anyone unless confirmed by the creators, which they never will. Sooo he could be Y6 Han AND still alive <3
