@byulsa​   :   all she can see is fire. the heat and screams bring her back five years and she’s gasping– blood following in it’s wake. an imperial ship had come crashing down towards them but she was suddenly held down, a hand grabbing her ankles, determined to take her down with them. she wanted to scream but all she can do is gasp to breathe, hands moving towards the protruding piece of shrapnel lodged to her side, making streams of blood mix into the soil. she’s shaking, shaking so violently it’s too much– she’s so scared she’ll be nothing but ash. just like nibelheim. just like her poor father, all alone. 

If they could, they would have wrenched every ship from the sky   &&   scattered the shrapnel across Gralea’s snow capped planes.

How much had the been taken from them now? They both see fire   &&   their bodies flinch / freeze / cascade into a blinding array of emotion - they know she sees it, there, her home ablaze just as they see the only mother they knew cold   &&   lifeless /  wants to take her hand, steal her away to somewhere quiet   &&   let her hurt with them, gather her tears in the crook of their neck, where their collarbone dips below leaving a concave of flesh for her to rest her head. To let her ache. To gather her in their arms   &&   not piece together but hold while she herself finds her feet to stand upon, as she had always been strong enough to.

It happens so quickly. And it’s stupid. They’re stupid. Rendered idiotic   &&   blind when they see her, bleeding, shaking, a single thought consuming every other rational / violent thing blooming within them: not again, NEVER AGAIN, DO YOU HEAR ME?! Vaguely aware that a Glaive tries to grab their arm, pulling off their jacket instead as they warp closer.

Sword lodged into the thing grasping at her ankle, the MT howling out it’s dying wails as Noctis takes Tifa in one arm, pulled firm against their chest; the other arm raises   &&   from their palm cascades a blinding checkered light through which the world around them fogs like stained glass chapel windows dispersing the burning red fire into  streams of faint orange. The ship above crashes mercilessly into the ground, burning the grass   &&   the trees, the sound so loud it leaves ringing in their ears.

( To use your ancestors power is to pay a heavy price; take heed this warning, be wary, you walk in the light of the crystal but you do not control it - it has always controlled us. )

Amidst the burning, they remain, shielded by Kings Power, their barrier cracking in their hand into shards as their power drains from their body, the bulk of it used against the explosions. Each burst    &&   blow felt like knives in their body, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, EYE FOR AN EYE, this gift given unto them - FOR WHAT USE? For what use?

( What, but love? What, but what we have lost, my love? )

They choke,    &&    from their throat blossoms red, spluttered down the front of their  shirt as their body rebels against power’s use. Vision blurs, but in those moments all they can think to do is what they wanted all along  —

—  To pull her against their chest, shielding her eyes from the horrors around her, their body the shield now against the horrors that plague her memory: she must hurt, she must ache, it must be so hard to watch it all tumble once more unto ashes.

“It’s... it’s gonna be okay... N-Nothing’s gonna get you a- ever again. I promise... I promise...” 

They cradle her to their chest, hand cupped over her wound, the last OUNCES of magic summoned to quell the bleeding in a soft, green glow that sparks orbs of light from the earth; fluttering around as their hair flutters too, the scene serene compared to the blaze around them, the glaives screaming their names, searching amidst the rubble for the King   &&   their consort. 

And even as the world around them goes dark ( eyes fading, taking with it consciousness ) they keep their hand on the back of her hair, her face pressed firm into their shoulder blade, their lives together a defiance of whatever Gods had wanted of them  — to die, perhaps, to burn.

Totally out of no where, but I’m shipping Noctis x Tifa (Noctifa) really hard. It’s just a crack ship for myself (like Ignis x Tifa) but I ships Nctluna to the extreme like I do cloti, so if you see a lot of Noctifa edits, pls dont think i’ve went cray cray XDD
