Autumn nights 1/? Twilight - Jeong Yunho
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff (x gn neutral)
0.6K
Note: I will be writing some small stuff here and there in between writing my bigger Halloween fics for october. Feel free to send in prompts or members you want to see, these will be on the shorter side!
Tumblr media
For you Yunho would forgo a lot of things, just to have you close, he'd gladly log off and rewatch twilight for the 3rd time.
The switch from the noisy fan blasting in your face in an attempt to survive the hot summer days to the fuzzy blanket you use to keep yourself warm on the now rainy days indicated the start of your favourite season. Twilight is playing and Yunho is tracing shapes on your legs that you draped over his lap as soon as he sat down ten minutes ago. There was a comfortable silence between you two, you didn’t expect him to stop playing valorant to come watch a movie he has already seen (with you) on at least two different occasions. But he wordlessly joined you on the couch after kissing your head and setting down a cup of tea for you on the table.
The movie is moving past the mid-way point but you have been sneaking glances at your boyfriend ever since he sat down. He had showered earlier after he returned from work and was in some comfy sweats with fluffy hair that still smelled like your shampoo. He looks absolutely adorable but you quickly look back at the tv when you see the side of his mouth quirk up. “You’re not watching the movie” You try to feign innocence with a hum. Yunho unexpectedly pulls at your legs, you squeak as you slide down further onto the couch. Soon after he is looming over you, hands caging you underneath him. “Am I more interesting? I thought you were team Edward and here you are looking at me instead of him” you scoff “Actually I am team Charlie” both of you giggle, screams coming from the tv make both your head turn. “Why do you like this movie so much?” shrugging you look back at your boyfriend above you. “It’s fun, I mean I definitely miss being young and not seeing how toxic these boys are but” you wave an arm towards the tv “vampires and stuff” Yunho chuckles above you. “Vampires huh? That’s your thing?” quirking his eyebrows at you with a sparkle in his eyes.
“Oh no” “Oh yes” you squeal when he dives in and starts attacking your neck with little bites. He has you giggling helplessly as you try and get his hands off your sides to stop him from tickling you. Not having any luck, you opt for squeezing his cheeks in your hands to pull him away from your neck. You laugh at him squeezed between your hands but he just gives you a dopey smile. He relents his attack and supports his upper body again. Resting on his elbows, a lot closer to your face than before. His body is resting on top of yours but it’s comforting more than anything. A blush creeps over your face as he seems to study every feature on your face. “Kiss me” It comes out soft, nothing more than a breath. His smile widening lets you know he heard you though. Leaning down he connects his lips with yours in a sweet kiss. There is no rush and the movie is barely a background sound, all you can feel and think about is Yunho. But you feel yourself grow desperate for him, your hands finding their way into his hair. Tugging at the strands a groan rumbles from his chest. In response he nibbles your lower lip before pulling away from your lips, finding his way back to your neck and leaving kisses in his wake. You whine wanting him to come back up to kiss you, his lips curl up in a smile against your skin.
“Ah! What the hell!” you swat him away and pout as he comes up. “One last bite, you’re just too delicious to resist” he jokes, rolling your eyes at him for ruining the moment. He is quick to mend the peace by kissing you again. And how could you resist?

Mikhael official DiverDiva song ranking . Let's go !
Warning: VERY LONG . I'm very passionate about music sorry~
SUPER NOVA: A very solid song . It's catchy , the inclusion of small rap sections is great and Love Live has gone for it before but it definitely shows how much they pour into their composition and lyrics here . It has this big futuristic feel with it's synthetic instrumental and the chants in the chorus but also somehow feels dated ? Not as in it's become stale , but the keyboard bits in the prechorus , the pauses , mixture of english , and the ear-to-ear mixing makes it feel like something I've heard before and it makes it REALLY good . The references to light/darkness , the pause in the "oh-oh" in the last chorus , the instrumental is literally perfect for Miyutan and Nacchan's vocals , all of it just comes together so well and is just such a solid , enjoyable song . 10/10 .
Love Triangle: I have a hate/neutral relationship with this song . At first I hated it , I found the chorus annoying and the only thing I could enjoy was the breakdown . I still don't ... Like it but I hate it less . While it does show that they can show more emotion in their voice and a bit of their range , it doesn't suit their voices well at all and you spend basically the whole song waiting for the chorus only for it to feel ... Plain . The "Love Tria~ngle" chants grow annoying to me and the bits right after the chorus are just ... Augh . The instrumental has this sort of lo-fi feel you'd find on youtube with a AMV with footage from some late 2010's moe anime with like 1million views , and has those strong long synth notes that are becoming somewhat of a staple in DiverDiva music . The breakdown is fun and has a sort of energetic dated feel that the one in Super Nova but with just way wayyy less going on . The small bits of backing vocals are good , but all in all it's worse elements weigh out the good ones and it's just a song that grows stale quickly . 2.5/10 because I like it slightly more and the instrumental is less annoying to me now
POWER SPOT !!: A hyper song that is just pure fun . The contrast between Ai's SUPER energetic voice and Karin's mostly chill & cool voice is wonderful and I love how well they go together in this song . It has all these little bits of noises and weird effects that isn't that clear to the untrained ear but really adds to the entire thing , the weird popping noises throughout the entire song are a little annoying at first but they grew on me after a few listens . It also has that same futuristic but a little dated feel that Super Nova has . The lyrics are funny , a little competitive and don't make sense at times but it's just pure fun . That's all this song is ; fun , catchy and enjoyable . 8.5/10 . Point deducted because those popping noises give me headaches
Saika -saika-: Actually the reason I'm writing all this ! I realized while listening to this that I have not gave a shit about DiverDiva's music and that I really either love or hate all of them EXCEPT for Saika -saika- . Saika does the sort of lo-fi feel that Love Triangle has but like , 100x better . It has these gentle notes that sound like bells in a lullaby and the instrumental somehow manages to be both exciting AND calming , which I think is perfect for this sort of mellow song about a fun festival . It mixes that staple futuristic feel of DiverDiva songs with notes that sound like something you'd hear in a more traditional Japanese song , and it also surprisingly suits Miyutan's and Nacchan's voices super well who give wonderful performances here . We love girls with some range ! The lyrics are just sweet and fun and suit the song perfectly as well , which I think comes from the fact that Saika was written , composed and arranged by the same person (Dummy Dog) . At first I was just very ... Neutral on this song , but after really sitting down and Listening to it I've definitely found a new appreciation for it . 9/10 .
THE SECRET NiGHT: Another hyper song full of pure unbridled FUN from DiverDiva . The lyrics have that sort of mature and cool feel that Guilty Kiss & Karin's songs have mixed with the freeform fun that BiBi & Ai's song have ("Our love is seriously forbidden / Dancing and luxury cars are making me excited" & "Secret night , the thrill is here like a burning aphrodisiac / Secret time , can I have you all to myself now ?") And oh my God Miyutan's "Shh ~ shall we ?" That transitions into more Nacchan rap with support from her cute "Fuu !"s that you'd hear in a sort of club EDM song is just so . Good . Honestly the clash between Karin's deep chill voice and Ai's somewhat-higher and exciting voice in general is just amazing . It kind of gives you the image of Karin having experience in whatever fun thing they're doing while Ai trails behind her just having the time of his life . I couldn't find a proper instrumental anywhere so I'm basing this off my own repetitive listening and sharp ear , but anyways . It has again those long high synth notes mixed with fun notes that sound like something out of an old arcade shooter which make for an unbelievably just ... Fun and catchy tune . THE SECRET NiGHT is just such a fun but with a cool twist song that really shows DiverDiva well . 10/10 .
Aaaand that's it . I probably won't do this for other subunits unless prompted but maybe . Yeah . Hope you enjoyed reading this absolute fucking manifesto of a rant .
Fly into the sky: Love Triangle .... 2 !!!! I'm serious here , I think to the untrained ear , these songs especially the instrumentals , sound fucking identical . From the chord progression , the lo-fi type beat and even the way the title is sang in the first line of the chorus it is literally . Love Triangle 2 . It's annoying and absurd but for some reason that makes it so endearing ? The way that on first listen I was just "This sounds the exact same as Love Triangle" drew me towards it for some reason . Like how do these songs sound like , literally the same . It has a few elements that are good , like the weirdish mixture of out of place sounds and notes that make it feel a little fun , but other than that it's just a pretty flat 1-note song . The guitar solo in the breakdown is so fucking out of place and such a strange choice and the way it's muffled sounds like they had the guitarist play it in another room with a glass wall dividing it and the room with the mic while the guitarist taped a paper over the fretboard and played the notes like normal like that . But it's just so . Absurd and boring that whenever I listen to it I can't even skip it I just listen to it and go "How did this even happen ." 3.5/10 . Points added because of endearment
Overall ranking:
1. SUPER NOVA 10/10
2. THE SECRET NiGHT 10/10
3. Saika -saika- 9/10
4. POWER SPOT !! 8.5/10
5. Fly into the sky 3.5/10
6. Love Triangle 2/10

Deca-Dence - Review!
Wooooo Deca-Dence!
Tumblr media
Deca-Dence was a summer 2020 anime, and that’s when I originally watched it! I've watched it about a dozen times since, as it landed itself right on my roster of my favorite animes, if not my favorite of all time.
Deca-Dence is an original piece, so no manga source material (whaaat!) and comes from the genius brain of Yuzuru Tachikawa, the director of other fan-favorites like Mob Psycho 100 and Death Parade (a review for Death Parade is in the making!). Original mangas are such a hit-or-miss recently, and I think that this one got the bullseye!
What's our concept?: Set in the future, the world is now plagued by monsters known as Gadolls. In an attempt to keep humans safe from them, mobile fortress Deca-Dence was constructed, where Gears, who live near the top, fight the Gadolls, and Tankers, who live at the bottom, provide support from inside Deca-Dence. Our protag, Natsume, is a Tanker who wants to fight with the Gears, but her prosthetic arm keeps her out of battle. That is until she meets Kaburagi, an older Tanker who seems to know his way around fighting and might have more to him than he lets on.
It's gonna be hard to go through this without spoilers, but I promise that I'll keep it spoiler-free until the section at the bottom!
Tumblr media
So overall, what do I think?: 10/10! I've already said it, but Deca-Dence is one of my favorite animes of all time, and it deserves the spot! It has incredible characters, a story that keeps you hooked even through twists and turns, and a pace that manages to cram so much plot into only 12 episodes without feeling overwhelming or rushed! Deca-Dence presents ideas that, at the surface, may seem overused or old, but spins them in such a way that they're completely original. It follows through with character relationships, making them worthwhile and fulfilling.
Tumblr media
Let's start with the story this time!: 10/10!! It's going to be really hard to explain the beauty of Deca-Dence's plot without spoiling it, but I'm doing my best! I really do recommend just giving the show a try, though, as it's really worth it! (Don't just drop it after episode 2, like a lot of people did :( That's just judging it wayyy too early!!)
Deca-Dence has a story that's thrilling and new. Everything that happens builds off of itself in a way that's natural and smooth. The elements of the story, no matter how different they may seem, play their part and work together well. The show isn't predictable either - don't go in thinking that you know what's going to become of it. Each twist feels surprising and new without feeling like they're coming out of left field.
I won't say much more in fear of ruining it, but Deca-Dence's story holds up well, and with its strong cast of characters supporting it, it becomes absolutely suburb. I think a lot of people fell into this pit of seeing only the beginning and tossing it aside, but no matter how strange the concepts in it may be, they wind together to form something really unique!
Tumblr media
So those characters, huh?: 11/10, I love them so much! I'm a character nerd through and through, and Deca-Dence sends my little character-obsessed heart wild. The protags, Natsume and Kaburagi, are both fascinating, have incredible development, and engage in a character dynamic that is so natural and well-written that I never doubted it.
To be honest, Natsume doesn't have a personality that's anything new. She's young, determined to a fault, naive, and a complete sweetheart. She wants to fight the Gadoll and she'll do anything to achieve that dream. She's not a natural at fighting but her motivation to do so makes her believable and relatable. She's looked down upon because of her prosthetic arm and forced into a job that she doesn't like, but she never gives up on her goals. Even though she's so simple, her interactions and energy make her lovable and a wonderful protagonist.
Kaburagi follows the washed-out warrior trope, as he's an older man assigned to clean-up duty who keeps to himself and never shows too much emotion. While this type of character can sometimes get annoying, the show gives Kaburagi enough time to show his real feelings and explain how he got to his position. This proper development keeps him down-to-Earth and shows him as even more flawed than Natsume. Kaburagi's motivation, which I can't explain for spoiler reasons, is entirely believable and explains perfectly why he decides to put up with Natsume, even though she's his polar opposite.
The relationship between the two characters is balanced and beautiful. It's given the proper time to grow, mature, and ends up being extremely worthwhile. Natsume relies on Kaburagi, as he sees the potential in her and continues to support her in ways no one else ever has, and Kaburagi understands that Natsume is everything that he's trying to rebel against. Their relationship is emotional, runs deep, and leaves you wishing that there was more of them to watch, even after the show has ended.
The villain! The villain. I cannot talk all that much about the villain at the risk of spoiling. He is evil. I really really hated him, and that is a very good thing because it means that he's well-written. His motivation makes sense, his actions make you want to strangle him, his design was really really good! He's not the most interesting thing in the show, as his character is really only there to move the story along, but not every villain needs to be incredibly deep for a show to be good.
Lastly, our supporting characters! While none of them are as wonderful as Natsume or Kaburagi, they're still interesting and hold their own. They play important parts in the show and all of their interactions with the main two feel natural. Their conflicts make sense, their resolutions feel well-earned, and their personalities are all unique! For a 12-episode anime, there's a larger cast of supporting characters than you would think, and nearly all of them are memorable and loveable.
Tumblr media
Time to shut up about characters, what about the art?: 9/10, ooooh yes the art! Deca-Dence is gorgeous! It's animated by studio Nut (bwahahhaha), who haven't done that much else in the anime world. Still, for a relatively new studio, it's absolutely amazing! The characters all have unique looks that make them stand out and the fight scenes are to die for. They lose a point on the CG, since it's a little bit less than amazing, but again, for a new studio, it's definitely not the worst I've seen!! (Admittedly, I also don't like CG much at all, so I'm always harsh towards it when it's used).
Deca-Dence switches between two styles that vastly contradict each other, one which is a colorful, happy-go-lucky style, and one that's the more typical anime style. I'll speak more about them in the spoilers section, but they do a wonderful job at maintaining the tone of the show, as to not let it get too dark, and forming a clear divide between the events of the two parts.
Oh goshhh the Gadolls look so cool. I'm so obsessed with cool monsters in anime and woah they look awesome!! They're original, with cool designs that I haven't seen elsewhere. The show could've so easily slapped in some pretty typical-looking dragons or wolves or whatever, but they instead spent time on these epic creatures, and it's so worth it! It makes the setting that much more unique and allows it to stand out from other animes.
Tumblr media
Surely there's a flaw in this anime? The pacing, maybe?: 9/10. Yeah, I would argue that the pacing is Deca-Dence's weakest point. Not that the pacing is particularly bad compared to other shows! I still think that, for a 12-episode anime, it does a wonderful job of fitting in a large amount of plot into only about 5 hours! But, at some points, parts felt rushed or confusing, as the show would zoom into them. I never felt like I was truly lost, though. Even if I did wish that there was a break from the action, I never found myself really thinking that the show was leaving me behind in the dust. It's not the kind of show that you can turn on and leave running while you multitask, though. Blink for too long and you might miss something important, which can ruin some of the hard-hitting twists that the anime works so hard to build up.
Tumblr media
OK! Time for spoilers! I beg you, go watch the anime before you read past this, because it's totally worth it!!
Woahh episode 2 am I right?? I thought that I clicked into the wrong anime when I began it, it took such a wild turn, and so soon in the anime too. This is what I really mean when I talk about a show not being what it appears to be! Again, I really encourage you to watch it for yourself, but if you're that stubborn on reading this through before you turn it on:
Deca-Dence is not about the heart-wrenching battles between Gears and their desperate attempts to keep humanity alive, because Gears are just avatars for cyborgs! You see, there's a civilization of cyborg people who are living above the Earth, who log in to fight in mobile fortress Deca-Dence as a game. So the Gadolls are genetically grown as prey for the Gears and the entire story surrounding Deca-Dence's battles are scripted. Crazy right!? The best part: the Tankers aren't in on this at all. You heard me: Natsume and her human friends have no idea that Deca-Dence is staged.
From here, Deca-Dence has two distinct parts: we'll call them "Natsume's half" and "Kaburagi's half". Natsume's half refers to the mobile fortress, the Tankers who live unaware of the cyborgs, and the art style that premiered in the first episode. Kaburagi's half is the Solid Quake organization, the Gears who are avatars of the cyborgs, and the goofy, stylized art style with big lines and bright colors.
The twist and the diverging sides of the story set this show up as not your typical sci-fi anime, but as something a little deeper. The stakes are the same, as humanity is in just as much peril as it was before - it becomes abundantly clear that the Gears and cyborgs don't care about them - but the name of the game completely changes as you realize that our so-called "heroes" aren't really all that heroic, and there's a lot more going on.
Kaburagi is, of course, one of these cyborgs, cursed to live among the Tankers because of a mistake he made while playing as a Gear. Now, he's in charge of eliminating "bugs", or mistakes that the system finds. He's upset with his life, frustrated at what he's doing, and contemplating suicide. But when Natsume walks into his life, a little girl that the system considers legally dead, Kaburagi sees a chance to rebel, even the slightest, against the system. He's supposed to kill Natsume, but instead, he takes her under his wing, determined to protect what he's been instructed to eliminate. This development gives their relationship a deeper meaning, even if Natsume doesn't know it.
Tumblr media
Deca-Dence does a wonderful job at showing the watchers both sides of the story but keeping Natsume's side in the dark. Even though we see scenes from Kaburagi's side, Natsume knows nothing about them. When Kaburagi leaves after Hugin kills his avatar, Nastume doesn't know where he's gone and has no reason to believe that he hasn't run away. There's no way she could guess that Kaburagi's new form - his weird orange Gear avatar - is the mentor that she once knew. And when Kaburagi, back in his original form, is killed in front of her, she really believes that he is dead. When Natsume finds out about the truth of the Gadolls - that the world she knows is fake - her horror is palpable and realistic, because there's no way she could've known any better.
Kaburagi's world has a goofy style to it, with the cyborgs looking cartoonish rather than realistic. While it might initially seem off-putting, I think that it ends up balancing the tone of the story much better. Consider the hellscape that is the reform facility that Kaburagi visits. Imagine how dark it would've been if it was not in a silly style! By keeping the style cuter rather than realistic, the show doesn't dip too far into dark and gritty, and I really liked it!
It also set up this harsh divide between Kabruagi's half, where things are easygoing, done for pleasure and fun, and not nearly as harsh as Natsume's world (Look at the name of the series! Decadence literally means living in excessive luxury!). Even when the cyborgs are in their Gear forms, which are drawn in Natsume's style, they're still a lot more colorful and vivid, showing that their lives aren't as harsh as that of the Tankers. The art styles reflect the differences between the two halves and give them both distinct tones and personalities!
Tumblr media
& finally, let's take an in-depth look at one scene!: I had a really hard time picking what I thought summed up the series in a single scene. In the end, I think that Natsume and Kaburagi's discussion at the end of episode 7 was the best. Here, we see a culmination of a lot of the character development going on. Kaburagi, in this scene, is in a Gears avatar that Natsume doesn't recognize, meeting her for the first time since his normal avatar was killed. Natsume's been working with the Tankers to protect them from Gadolls that infiltrated the fortress, and she's motivated them all to rise up and fix the hole in the fortress themselves.
Kaburagi has encouraged Natsume to be a stronger person, even though she had to be independent and not rely on him any longer. His pessimistic view on the world - that they'll never defeat the Gadolls - has rubbed off on her, but it's only made her more determined to be stronger to stand up to them. In this scene, we see her breaking down as she considers that Kaburagi might be right, and that she'll never kill them all, but that she needs to continue fighting.
Though Kaburagi previously doubted Natsume and her endless determination, he now feels filled with the same motivation. Natsume has convinced him, time and time again, that he can't give up, and so he decides that he's willing to do anything to make sure that she never loses that hope. He wants her dreams to come true, and he knows that she can't accomplish them alone.
This perfectly shows the effects that they have on one another. Natsume is now stronger than she's ever been: independent, able to take down Gadolls on her own, and determined enough to patch up the hole that no one else thought could be fixed. Kaburagi, in stark contrast to his suicidal thoughts from episode two, is now completely devoted to make the world a safe place for Natsume. Their relationship has shaped one another into being the best versions of themselves, and this isn't even the end! They still complete their growth in the last few episodes, but I've rambled about them enough.
We're done!: That's my review of Deca-Dence! I really believe that it's one of the masterpiece animes in recent years, and I wish it got more attention. I'm sure that there's plenty of anime out there like this one - forgotten diamonds in the rough - that I'd love to dig up and fawn over. Tell me if you know any! Or, if you disagree with my review, tell me where you think I'm wrong!

the press tour [4] | t.h.
Word Count: 2.6 K
Warnings: none, i don't think??
Summary: You’re a new, inexperienced actress plucked from the obscurity of everyday life to play the lead in the reboot of a famous British Jane Austen novel, and Tom Holland just so happens to be playing your love interest.
A/N: This one was a little hard to write for obvious reasons. Also Tumblr apparently won't let me link things so if you’re looking for my masterlist, playlist, taglist, or writing challenge it’s in my bio <3 I also have to tag people a second time?? and because Tumblr screwed this up Saturday, I'm dropping the next chapter this Saturday
Tumblr media
Tom had been moody all day. He snapped at his driver for being two minutes late, got upset that his coffee was cold, and made his makeup artist storm out of her trailer. It was completely unlike him to act like such an asshole.
In other words, he was a mess.
"Dude, what is going on?" Jacob asked during an interview break. Tom stayed silent, walking past him to enter his dressing room. Jacob followed, determined to get an answer. He wasn't just going to let it go.
"Nothing, it's nothing. I'm fine" Tom gritted his teeth, feeling himself get even more frustrated with all the questions. His mind was on you and on the date, he simply couldn't get you out of his mind. It didn't help that the news outlets had been reporting on the sighting of the two of you nonstop, even though Tom had been very careful to avoid paparazzi.
Everywhere he looked, there were pictures of you two. You looked so beautiful, Tom found it hard to remember that he wasn't supposed to be in love with you anymore. It hurt so much that Tom almost considered telling everyone he was going home to sleep for the next millennium.
He'd loved you and you'd rejected him in the worst way possible.
"Yeah right, you're behaving like a real movie star right now, you know that?" Jacob pressed, closing the door behind him. He knew Tom was never like this unless something really bad had happened. Jacob also knew that Tom hated being called a movie star.
Sure enough, he broke.
"If you have to know, it's about Y/N okay!" Tom yelled, spinning around and kicking a chair across the room. Jacob didn't flinch, he was just confused. He knew that Tom liked Y/N, and was planning to ask her out, but it seemed something had gone wrong. Which was odd, considering the paparazzi pictures he had seen told a different story.
"What, I thought you guys went on a date?" He asked, and Tom collapsed into a chair with his head in his hands. Jacob walked over and sat next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder gently. He could hear Tom sigh and sniffle, and it made him sad to see his best friend like this.
"We did, but it didn't end well." Tom whispered, sitting up and wiping his eyes. Jacob realized he was crying, and he felt a little guilty about making Tom break like this. He considered calling Harrison to ask what to do, but decided against it. Tom needed to vent, so Jacob would listen.
"There's someone else, I saw the text. The worst part was that she didn't tell me, I had to find out like that. It was humiliating." Tom said, getting up and pacing the room. Jacob watched him, still not believing that you would do something like that. He had met you once, and thought you were the kindest person he'd ever met. It seemed so out of character, for you to do something like this.
"Are you sure about this? I mean, Y/N is the sweetest person ever. Did you talk to her about it?" Jacob asked, coming to stand behind Tom. Tom shook his head, running a hand through his hair. He hadn't asked you about it, but he figured he didn't need to. Tom knew what he saw.
"No, but I know what I saw Jacob. It was pretty obvious, and I wasn't about to tell her I'd been looking at her phone. I'm trying to get over her, but it's so hard. I really like her, and I have to do press with her." Tom groaned, throwing a pillow at the wall. It burst into feathers, each one cascading to the floor below. Jacob grimaced, going over to pick up the sack.
"Well, you've got time to get over her. You're here for two months, I'm sure you'll forget all about it. You're going to be super busy anyway." He said, and Tom felt a little better. He wouldn't see you, so maybe he could just wish the whole thing away. At the very least, he could just lay low for a while.
"Yeah, maybe." Tom sat down again, staring at the wall for a couple of minutes. Just as Jacob was about to leave, Tom's assistant Samual walked through the door. He looked like he had been running, and he panted a bit before handing Tom a note.
"Your PR manager is here, he wants to talk." Samual huffed, giving Jacob a wave. Tom quirked an eyebrow, taking the note from Samual's hand and giving it a read. It was scribbled pretty hastily, but Tom could just make out what it said
We need to talk.
"What's this all about?" Tom asked, but Samual shrugged his shoulders. He had no idea, the note had just been passed to him and it seemed pretty urgent. Jacob stood by the door as Tom put on his jacket. He really wasn't in the mood to speak to David, but he knew that it had to be important if a note had been couriered like this.
"Where is he?" Tom asked, and Samual pointed to a car on the outskirts of the set. The black Mercedes was parked next to the road, and Tom could just see David sitting in the back on his laptop. It was highly unusual for David to come all this way for something that could probably be discussed over the phone, which made Tom a little suspicious.
"Hey, Jacob tell Jon I'm taking five. I'll be right back." Tom walked out the door and broke into a quick jog. When he got to the car, he rapped on the window causing David to jump. The window rolled down and David peered out.
"Really? You could have just called ahead." David said, giving Tom a glare. Tom smiled deviously, leaning on the car door.
"Where's the fun in that? You wanted to see me?" Tom asked and David told him to get in. Tom slid into the backseat, and David shut his laptop. With the click of a button, he rolled up the divider and turned to face Tom.
"What is this, Tom?" David pulled out his phone and Tom grimaced. There on the screen was an article titled Tom and Y/N, Hollywood's next IT couple? Damn, he'd never escape these stupid pictures. David was frowning, and Tom knew he was in some serious trouble.
"Nothing, I went on a date with Y/N and it didn't go well. So what?" Tom asked and David sighed, closing the window. He went on Instagram and typed in the handle tomhollanders_spidey. Tom recognized the account, they were a big fan account that had started when he first began to act. The first picture that popped up was one of the paparazzi photos of you and Tom. Tom furrowed his brow, why did David care so much about this date?
"Read the comments for me." David said, handing Tom his phone.
So Tom began to read.
Ew, is this Y/N?? It's gonna be a no from me.
Oh my god nooooooo, Tom is wayyy to good for her.
Jesus, was there no one else?!?!
Not a fan of this relationship, he could do so much better.
Damn Tom needs some dating help.
Honestly Tom would look better with Zendaya.
I do not ship them at all.
First of all, Y/N is ugly and Tom is hot?? Dude needs glasses or something.
They'll break up after two months, Y/N is just using him for publicity.
Please God not another Hiddleswift.
"What the hell? I thought they liked us together" Tom muttered, not believing his fans could be so terrible. But he remembered some bad experiences from before, and just groaned instead. David shrugged, taking the phone back and putting his glasses on. Tom was observant enough to know that this meant David was about to cut to the quick.
"I don't know what happened between you, but you and Y/N cannot be a couple. Most of your fans are heavily against it and the press isn't entirely favorable either. We need some major damage control, I don't want this hanging over you for the Far From Home junket. Sony doesn't want that either." David said, turning to face Tom. Tom pursed his lips, looking over David's shoulder and out the window. Life would have been a lot simpler if he hadn't been an actor. He would have been able to date whoever he wanted.
But these were the cards he was dealt, and he would have to deal with them as best as he could.
"So, what do we do? I'm assuming you already have some sort of plan." Tom said and David brought out a manila folder. Tom rolled his eyes, but he knew David had been thinking about this for a while. It was the folder he'd dubbed The Dating File. It contained profiles of actresses that fans had either shipped him with or had expressed an interest in Tom at some point. When Tom had just started out, David had compiled the file as an emergency fix in case of a PR disaster.
Tom had always hoped they'd never have to use it.
"God, no not the Dating File! Isn't there anything else we can do?" Tom whined and now it was David's turn to roll his eyes. He liked Tom well enough, but David was used to working with actors like John Travolta and Adam Sandler who had a smidge less integrity when it came to PR.
"Like what? If you have another idea I'm all ears." David said, leaning back while Tom rested his head on his hand. Truthfully, Tom didn't have another idea, but he would have done anything to avoid the Dating File.
"Couldn't we just ride it out? It's not that serious, it's just a couple paparazzi pictures and some pissed off fans." Tom reasoned, and David shook his head emphatically.
"Not that serious? Tom, the Sony execs called me today wondering if they should cut some of your interviews during the junket, so that promotions don't get overshadowed by your love life. Unless you have a better idea, this is our best bet." David finished his lecture and handed Tom the file. Tom took it slowly and opened it gingerly.
"Shit. Fine, I guess I don't have a choice then. So what, I pick one like on the Bachelor?" Tom laughed sardonically, flipping through the pages. There were some pretty famous actresses compiled, including Chloe Grace Moretz, Elle Fanning, Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, Maia Mitchell, Olivia Holt, Saoirse Ronan, Kiernan Shipka, and Zendaya. Tom sighed and dropped the file back into his lap.
"I don't know, David. Does it even matter who I choose? It's not like we're getting married or something." Tom huffed, handing the file back to David.
"Fine, then I'll pick. We need an actress that the fans really ship you with or one that has previously said they would date you." David flipped through the profiles one by one, taking out the ones that would work best. Tom sat up, realizing that he knew an actress that would fit the bill perfectly.
"Zendaya. Z is our best bet. The fans all ship us, they're always asking about us in interviews. They already call us Tomdaya or whatever, what about her?" Tom asked. David looked up, a smile on his face. Thank god they'd picked one, he was going crazy dealing with Tom.
"You're right, she'd be perfect. She's well known and already has an established relationship with you. Good, I'll call her in so you two can talk." David picked up his phone, but Tom stopped him midway.
"Wait, what do you mean call her in? Is she here already?" Tom looked out the window, and sure enough there was Zendaya with Darnell and her PR manager Aubrey. David smiled and waved, and they all waved awkwardly back. Tom spun around, looking at David for an explanation.
"What? I knew you'd pick Zendaya, so I called her ahead of time. She's been here for about two hours now? Before you ask, yes she agreed to the whole fake dating thing. All you need to do now is hammer out some conditions, a sort of contract if you will. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to Starbucks." David rapped on the divider and motioned for Tom to get out. Tom slid out of the backseat and David drove off, just as if he had never been here.
"Hey, you." Zendaya said, going in for a hug. Normally, Tom would have been happy to see her. But this whole situation was so awkward that Tom barely hugged her back, nodding at Darnell and Aubrey. Zendaya flipped her gorgeous hair over her shoulder and brought out a notepad.
"So... guess we should sit down and iron out all the specifics. Aubrey, I can take it from here. Darnell, can you wait over there?" Zendaya pointed to a croft of trees a couple yards away, and Aubrey left set for her car. Tom turned to her and felt a sudden urge to apologize.
"I'm so sorry, Z. I want you to know this was never my first choice, I know how awful it was with all the Tomdaya stuff. This isn't going to make it any easier on us, and things could get pretty ugly." Tom said, kicking a rock with his shoe. Zendaya sighed, but her smile was sincere.
"I know, it's not your fault. But remember, I agreed to this too so you can't take all the blame. It is what it is, this is the life we signed up for. As long as we keep is professional and authentic, we'll be fine. All they want is a show, and we can give that to them. We're trained actors, this is our job." Zendaya laughed, and Tom felt a little better. But the hole in his stomach convinced him that he wasn't over you yet.
"Right, let's write this contract then. We definitely have to keep feelings out of this." Tom started and Zendaya nodded.
"Agreed, even though I feel nothing for you. You're my friend, that's it. We also need a confidentiality clause, we can't tell anyone about this obviously. And very little kissing, of course." Zendaya said. Tom took the notepad and wrote down the clauses carefully and legibly. Usually David handled all the legal paperwork, but Tom felt better knowing he had written this himself.
"And lastly, either of us can terminate the relationship at any time. But said person must notify the other 24 hours before any major event or red carpet occasion. For convenience." Zendaya finished, and Tom wrote down the last clause with a flourish. At the bottom of the note, he drew two lines for their signatures. He offered Zendaya the pen first, and she signed her name in pretty cursive. Tom signed his well enough, and then closed the contract and handed it to Zendaya.
"There, all done. We are officially a couple now." Tom nudged Zendaya lightly and she laughed a little. She would have preferred choosing her own partner, but she couldn't think of that now. Instead, she tried to focus on how lucky she was that she would be "dating" someone she trusted, like Tom.
"Yes, the HMS Tomdaya ship has properly sailed. Brace yourselves, it's going to be a bumpy ride."
