Argentina book haul! 

I brought plenty of books to Argentina, which spared me the need to hunt down books in English, which would have been sometimes difficult (particularly because no one's exactly supplying books in translation, for the most part—their English section is usually books from America, UK, or elsewhere in the world, and you can find the Argentine authors in Spanish). So most of the books I purchased were purely as souvenirs, including a couple books on the flora and fauna of Argentina. 

Two favorite purchases were Los Carpinchos, a fantastic children's book by Alfredo Soderguit, which I bought in Uruguay, and El año de la rata by Dr. Alderete and Mariana Enríquez, a weird book featuring wild neon illustrations of sex, horror, and more, that I can't fully read with my Spanish level but that I got because the illustrations are wild and because I love Enríquez, always. I got that book from the small bookstore in the Museo de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. 

I found some gems in used bookstores. In Walrus Books, an English-language shop in San Telmo, I got The Old Man Who Read Love Stories by Luis Sepúlveda, translated by Peter Bush, and an old trade paperback edition of one of my absolute favorite 1970s sci fi reads, Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy. 

And at Librería Helena in Buenos Aires, home of the bookstore cats, I picked up a third edition of Poemas by Borges and a paperback of El Pecado Mortal by Silvina Ocampo ("The Mortal Sin" is included in English in NYRB's Thus Were Their Faces, a collection of Ocampo's short fiction). 

Finally, a friend I made on Estancia Nibepo Aike told me he had just finished reading and loving Ernest Shackleton's story of being stuck in the Antarctic ice and keeping his full team of men alive. Three days later, I found the book in a selection of just three books in English in an Ushuaia gift shop, so naturally bought it, and have been reading it as my last 'vacation' read.

It doesn't have meaning at all... The one burnt by Uncle Jun, was thrown by him in the garbage last week...

Living with Uncle Jun is hell for 16 yeas angels....I wonder what are his plans in life...

Not really my ideal life living with Uncle Jun, so many weird things happened from the past 16 years.... Since I had have this windblow since 2007, I feel bitterish...

I can't progress on my own... I can't go up again on my own... I had yaya's and we had maids or helpers before or I usually had my own assistant but being with Uncle Jun it's hellish for me that everything were gone and changed into different beat.

It is also weird that life here in De Ocampo are reverse2x like Uncle DD is the undergraduate and a waiter boy but I know it is a job and he got a new house here with a hot and cold shower... I don't have to elaborate the explanation.

But my point, I'm on a big embarrassment since 2007...They took away my college diploma... And our mind-set here is really USA foundation.

Like Uncle DD is undergraduate but able to create his house, coz of his friends link coz in USA that is possible...

But my main point what about me? Me as college graduate,there are group who smashed me unfairly since 2007...

Argentina, 1985 está em cartaz no Prime Video Não tem como assistir Argentina, 1985, novo filme do astro argentino Ricardo Darin e deixar de comparar com o Brasil. O filme fala da campanha heróica dos promotores Julio Strassera e Luis Moreno Ocampo para conseguir julgar e condenar os militares que chefiaram a ditadura argentina nos anos 70 e 80. A comparação na verdade não é uma comparação, já que no Brasil nunca houve julgamento e muito menos condenação dos militares e seus capangas que prenderam, torturaram e mataram centenas ou milhares de pessoas entre abril de 1964 e março de 1985. Aqui o que aconteceu foi um acordo chamado “Anistia Ampla, Geral e Irrestrita” que “perdoou" todos os terroristas do regime militar em troca de perdão aos presos e exilados políticos. Um péssimo acordo. Por conta dessa falácia, elementos terroristas de esquadrões da morte e similares estão soltos e vivem vida de cidadãos respeitáveis, alguns inclusive exercendo cargos públicos. É justamente graças a essa piada de anistia que temos o despresidente que temos… Voltando à Argentina… No filme que está em cartaz na plataforma de streaming Prime Video, Ricardo Darin faz o papel de Julio Strassera, o promotor que conseguiu condenação para vários dos militares sanguinários da ditadura, entre eles Jorge Rafael Videla que governou a Argentina de 1976 a 1981. Entrou no poder através de um golpe militar contra Isabelita Perón, viúva de Juan Carlos Perón. Argentina, 1985 mostra basicamente o processo contra os militares. Strassera e Moreno Ocampo montaram uma equipe de advogados e promotores bem jovens. Todos foram ameaçados, além das testemunhas, mas a batalha teve um saldo positivo. Filmado em locações históricas onde os eventos aconteceram, o premiado diretor Santiago Mitre (Paulina, A Cordilheira) comanda o longa, que co-escreveu junto ao seu colaborador de longa data Mariano Llinás (La Flor, Histórias Extraordinárias). Peter Lanzani faz o papel de Luis Moreno Ocampo. O longa foi lançado no Prime Video dia 21 de outubro em mais de 240 países e territórios depois de fazer parte da Competição Oficial da 79ª edição do Festival Internacional de Cinema de Veneza. No Brasil o filme teve pré-estreia no Festival do Rio. Argentina, 1985 é o filme escolhido para representar o país no Oscar. Quanto ao ditador Videla, após a primeira condenação, essa mostrada no filme, ele ficou preso apenas cinco anos. Em 1990 o presidente Carlos Menem concedeu um indulto a Videla e a outros membros de juntas militares, além de chefes da polícia da Província de Buenos Aires e do dirigente montonero Mario Eduardo Firmenich. Videla retornou à prisão em 1998 por 38 dias e acabou voltando para prisão domiciliar por conta de sua idade avançada. Em 2010 Videla foi novamente julgado e foi preso. “Argentina, 1985” llega a cines selectos de México el 14 de octubre

La película está inspirada en la historia real de los abogados que llevaron a juicio a los militares involucrados en la dictadura argentina

La película Argentina, 1985 está inspirada en el juicio real contra los militares que durante la dictadura argentina desaparecieron y torturaron personas, cometiendo crímenes contra la población que se oponía al poder. Una de las cintas más esperadas del año llega a cines seleccionados antes de su estreno en streaming.

El reconocido actor Ricardo Darín protagoniza como el fiscal que dirige el caso más importante de Argentina y busca darle justicia a las miles de familias de los desaparecidos, él se enfrentará al poder militar y político que aún persiste en el país junto a Peter Lanzani, quien interpreta al fiscal adjunto Luis Moreno Ocampo.

Se trata de un drama histórico con un guion de Santiago Mitre y Mariano Llinás que nos dejará ver detrás de aquel evento conocido como el Juicio a las Juntas, desde cómo se construyó el equipo legal, las amenazas que recibieron, la persecución y el peligro que tuvieron que resistir en búsqueda de la justicia en una intensa batalla legal muy parecida a un “David contra Goliat”.

La cinta es dirigida por Santiago Mitre, quien nuevamente aporta a la memoría histórica con una película sobre la política y la denuncia: antes con El estudiante y La cordillera; ahora con Argentina, 1985. El cineasta ha logrado cautivar al público y la crítica con esta nueva producción, alzándose con el Premio FIPRESCI en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia y con el Premio del Público en la pasada edición del Festival Internacional de cine de San Sebastián.

Este drama social cuenta con la producción de Agustina Llambi-Campbell, Victoria Alonso, Chino Darín, Ricardo Darín, el propio Santiago Mitre y el reconocido periodista especializado en cine Axel Kuschevatzky, quien en una entrevista comentó: “No es una película sobre la dictadura sino sobre la democracia frágil. Quisimos demostrar que no existe una democracia sin justicia”.

Argentina, 1985 se estrena en cines seleccionados este 14 de octubre en México y después llegará a plataformas.

Sinopsis: Está inspirada en la historia real de Julio Strassera, Luis Moreno Ocampo y su joven equipo jurídico que se atrevieron a acusar, contra viento y marea, a contrarreloj y bajo constante amenaza, a la más sangrienta dictadura militar argentina. Una batalla de David contra Goliat, con los héroes menos esperados.
