🖊🖊 for Nisha and 🖊🖊 for Cio 💖
@mystery-salad
Pens for them coming right up!! :D <3
🖊 - I think I've mentioned this in passing before a long time ago, but Nisha was (alongside Laranthir and the others) the one in charge of the assault on the Mouth of Mordremoth. Xe threw absolutely everything xe had into that fight and was incredibly instrumental in the Pact's victory. It was also a hell of an accidental audition for the Marshal position.
🖊 - Nisha's engineering techniques tend to be some amalgamation of what xe learned "growing up" alongside the Itzel, what xe read about in the Priory upon getting there, and various smaller things that xe picked up from working with Cio/other engineers in the Pact. They're therefore somewhat unorthodox but they work--it's the same specific vibe as someone doing the addition of 45 and 67 in a different way than you but still ending up with 112. Xe's also very well-versed in various poisons from the Maguuma Jungle because of xyr background and often uses them in xyr weapons--plenty of poisonous/toxic darts.
🖊 - Cio (alongside Nisha and a few other Pact members) roughly follows the Hunters and Prey storyline--the bit of the level 80 PS that starts with going after the missing Pact squad. Kekt, one of the members of the search party, was an old friend of Cio's from the Priory. They weren't always on the same wavelength (he was a lot more cautious than both Cio and Sieran, for one thing), but they were friends regardless, and losing yet another person so close on the heels of losing Sieran was particularly rough.
🖊 - Cio runs into Casca and Brook before Ari does. She and Ari are not always working on the same mission or in the exact same place, even if they're both doing work for the Pact/their respective orders in the same general area, and this is one of those times. Cio ends up meeting them through helping Casca, Brook, and the Olmakhan deal with the storms and Zohaqan, and each party sloooowly figures out the significance of the other. I have various associated shenanigans and drama and story bits related to this (and to Cio and Zohaqan) percolating in my mind.

Moments I Could Have Missed...
*Note: Our family has been in the throes of moving chaos and this post got lost in the shuffle. It was originally written in mid-July, about two months ago, but it is just too sweet not to share. Please enjoy this snapshot into my family’s dearest moments.
Please Just Go To Sleep
Tonight my son had a difficult time going to sleep. We started his bedtime routine on time just as we do each night, and went through our whole process. It took him almost an hour longer to fall asleep than usual. Any parent reading this I’m sure has also pleaded in weariness, “Why is this happening to me?”
As a first time Momma, I’ve read a lot in an effort to learn about babies and sleep. In the spirit of full disclosure, I definitely wasn’t following many of the suggestions that have been given on this particular night. We’ve been going through quite a transition lately because we are in the process of moving. The routine is all over the place and despite my best efforts to maintain consistency for my baby’s sake, some days it just hasn’t been possible.
Why Are You So Stinkin’ Cute?!
So tonight, instead of keeping everything dark and quiet, as my son began to cycle awake, I just went with the flow, too tired to fight it. When his eyes popped open and he smiled, I knew we were in for it. He didn’t want to nurse anymore, so I put him up on my shoulder. Then he saw his Daddy laying quietly on the bed. Another smile and a bounce.
I was still rocking him in the trusty ol’ rocking chair and he started to giggle. I realized with him on my shoulder, rocking was a bit more of a ride than a calm way to settle him. You would think I would have stop upon realizing this, but instead I gave in to the fun! So, as I rocked back, I gave him a little bounce and a “Weee”. This produced another giggle. We continued this way for a few minutes and the giggles grew into a continuous chain of laughter from all three of us. I can honestly say, neither my husband or I have seen and heard my son laugh so much and so hard. It was hilarious, entertaining, and heart-warming to see my son having so much fun…even if he was SUPPOSED to be sleeping.
Cry It Out Isn’t For Us
There is a lot of pressure for parents today to let their babies “cry it out” as a method of sleep training. This post is not meant to condemn those who choose this method, but rather encourage those who do not WANT to choose this method for their child. In another post, I will address the reasons my husband and I have decided that this method is not for us and our son. And although there have been times I’ve nearly caved to this sleep “training” method, today I simply want to say, I’m so glad we didn’t miss this precious and enjoyable moment. It was so very special.
No amount of couch time, TV watching, game playing, book reading, or even adult conversation (which I do desperately crave these days), or progress in unpacking could have been any more enjoyable and fulfilling than those few minutes of playtime and laughter with our son. My husband and I will remember it forever.
If We Had Chosen CIO, We Would Have Missed This!
There are other experiences with my baby I hold dear that would not be the same if I didn’t nurse, sing, or rock him to sleep. One of the sweetest things that comes to mind is how my son pats my face while I rock him and sing. His little hand finds my mouth (sometimes I’m like a fish on a hook with his little fingers in my mouth) as he feels my warm breath on his hand. His little fingers crawl up and find my nose which becomes a handle, as he closes his eyes. I can’t tell you how many times he has fallen asleep with his hand on my face and I absolutely love it.
In fact, it’s become a new part of our nap time routine for me to name the features of my face as his fingers touch them. “Mouth”, “nose”, and sometimes even “eyes” if I lean down close enough. We are also working on signing for milk which we can incorporate a bit before he falls asleep.
I wouldn’t trade these sweet moments for all the 8-hour uninterrupted nights I’m missing out on. They are just too precious.
A dear friend told me that waiting 18 months for this sleep thing to work itself out “sounds like torture”. She is not a stranger to sleepless nights as her son is only a few months older than mine and we like to help each other in sharing our thoughts on various parenting topics.
One Day, He’ll Be Grown
And yes, I am tired. However, I have peace in the knowledge that one day my son will sleep through the night. One day he will wean and not need Mommy’s milk (affectionately called nursies in our home) for nourishment or even comfort anymore. One day, he’ll be too big to rock to sleep. One day, he will not need me to sing to him so that he can fall asleep, in fact, he may not want me to sing to him at all. One day, I won’t lay him in his crib (and co-sleeping will be a dream) as he’ll crawl into bed on his own, shoo me away, read his book on his own, flip off the light, and go to sleep…all by himself. And I’ll miss him.
Today, my son is nearly 8 1/2 months old and I can hardly believe how fast time is passing. These few months, which may add up to only a couple years will pass quickly enough, with or without sleep (and to be honest, I am finding ways to get rest). I simply choose to cherish all these moments while I have the opportunity to do so.
Proverbs 23:15-16
“My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart also will be glad; and my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right.”

Cioccolata and Secco
Hi guys! Alert for a long text! Hahahaha
I really want to talk about the character Cioccolata/Secco and how I see their creation.
I am not here to "romanticize him", nor to deny that he is a despicable character. It is only particular conclusions that I have taken thinking of all the points that I will write here. And for the fact that he is one of the characters that most caught my attention in all JoJo serie, because he approaches a theme that I find intriguing and like to read/watch about: human psychopathy, how insane and complex the human mind can be.
But when I read in the manga his conclusion, with the message he recorded for Secco, I wondered: Is Cioccolata really 100% psychopathic? Is Cioccolata the psychopathic character that I wanted he to be?
In the manga, without hearing a voice, just reading the message, we dont care much, but even so it intrigued me. Now with the anime adaptation, I was even more certain than I thought. By the time he starts talking about strength, he completely changes his tone of voice. We always came across a Cioccolata with insane expressions, screaming, always very bizarre and anything but normal. But in this part he is talking completely calm! (What the fuck, "sir insane doctor?") He uses a calm tone of voice, and is getting more and more with emotion. When he says he needs to turn off the phone because Giorno is coming, he stutters! And the hologram that appears exactly in the part when he says he loves Secco, his face sad, worried and serious. He knew he was going to die. So he cared to record those messages for Secco, to encourage him.
With that speech of "the strong must dominate the weakest ... you are strong Secco ... and that's why I love you," just made me sure that Cioccolata always considered Secco strong, maybe even more than himself. That's why he felt the need to have Secco as a partner, to have Secco in his life. I believe he saw that: only with Secco could he attain his goal of dominating over humans.
Psychopaths usually act alone! They are lonely people, who prefer it to be so (At least in the stories I've read about) Cioccolata felt the need, the necessity for Secco along with him. Psychopaths never show a feeling. In this part, Cioccolata demonstrates total concern with Secco. He, minutes before he dies, cares to record this message to Secco, with a calm voice. This all makes me realize that Cio is not 100% psychopathic, and he was not born that way. He is a bad person, sadistic, the worst kind of person, too proud, doesn't mind doing anything for his "curiosity" and goals, but not 100% psychopathy.
FOR ME, he since childhood was an extremely curious person (curiosity is one of the themes he speaks most in his passage). He had a high IQ, maybe normal people would not understand his thoughts and curiosity, especially about life, about how things work, about how body works. It was growing and this "curiosity" was getting worse in a bizarre way. He starts to feel superior, for being smarter perhaps? He does horrible things, he turns into a completely despicable person. But I dont think it's 100% psychopathy just because of the message he recorded and all the feeling of concern with Secco. He killed people because he found it all intriguing. GUYS, PLEASE, dont misundertand it, this is completely contemptible, absurd and disgusting, but, as I said from the beginning, I'm just trying to figure out which character Cioccolata is.
Which makes all this much more bizarre, because it makes me to conclude that Cioccolata is "more humanized" than Secco?? OH ARAKI, COME ON, WHERE IS MY PSYCHO CHARACTER IN JOJO SERIE? hauhsuah (jokes).
After concluding that Cio is more human than Secco, I would like to talk about Secco. I can't think how their meeting was, but probably Secco was already very insane, an super insane patient that intrigued Cio (maybe Cio in a surgery was mutilating Secco and Secco wakes up liking that instead of being desperate? Which makes me think again that Secco is muuuch more crazier than Cio)
I just can't see the way some people think: that Secco was a patient that was abused, manipulated, weak etc ... because Cioccolata is a CURIOUS person, he found Secco intriguing "liking" those tortures, and the fact that Secco "liked the insanity" of Cio in the hospital, made him very intrigued by Cioccolata as well. Come to respect him, admire him? They "met" in that madness. He was not Cio's "guinea pig", he was an accomplice! Cio admired him from the beginning, that's what I think, he used other "ordinary" and "comun" people as guinea pigs. But Secco was the ONLY person that sparked this interest in Ciocco, EXACTLY because Secco was sadistic, and likes what Cio's did. So, Secco and Cio created this complicity in the midst of all this madness in common, they began to admire, to respect themselves. Secco ISNT weak! He is crazy and sadistic same as Cio is.
Which brings me back to the dialogue about "strength" that Cio had when he recorded the message for Secco. Cio believed Secco was very strong! Very strong mentally! He needed him! If the two are already crazy, sadistic, and like that, I cant see it as abuse and manipulation.
Secco has gone so mad, so crazy, that he does think he is an animal! He saw Cio as someone unbeatable, so he began to admire and follow him. Just as animals see humans, as if it were a "hierarchy". But when Cio dies, Secco is disappointed, he becomes infuriated, because Cio was as human as all the others.
Cioccolata was the character created to be the most worthless! So worthless that he ended in the garbage truck. However, David Productions animates this intense and sentimental phone recorded message scene. What TOTALY BREAK the construction of the character, the construction of Cioccolata as a creature 100% despicable without some feeling. I love how this becomes complex, Cioccolata becomes a complex character and with a very cool construction, which brings us many interpretations.
This all brings me to the conclusion that, amazingly, Cioccolata is "more humanized" than Secco. Bizarre, is not it? That's why I really like this arc and these two characters. It is a complex construction that bring many interpretations of all people. But this is mine!
Thank you, Araki for Vento Aureo!
Hope you enjoy it, guys, and thank you to read! Be free to talk with me! 🌸

The Heroine (MC)
CEO MC: Never gets enough sleep, which makes her sarcastic but is also semi her own fault given the amount of caffeine she consumes. Sort of obsessive about long-term planning, unwaveringly believes that a company’s value comes from its employees and will choose them over shareholder dividends every time. Determined to run an ethical company even if it means it’s not the most profitable company. Super duper Type A – aggressive and fearless because she has to be. Sometimes really just wants a cupcake in her hand and a cat in her lap, but then she’s bored and goes back to business planning. Creative risk-taker, decent negotiator. Smart enough to know where she needs help and hire people who can do the things she can’t (or, more to the point, doesn’t want to do). Gets back up every time. Will definitely fight you. Might feel bad about it later but only if someone reminds her it happened.
Love Interests
The BARISTA: Peppy, optimist (or so MC thinks) but it turns out they actually switch up their personality depending on who they’re serving (sometimes they are the chill, hipster philosopher, sometimes they are the rude New York get-it-done eye roller, etc.) actually somewhere in the middle of it all – but really IS an optimist despite themselves. Kind of slippery and hard to pin down. Big family, used to being what their other siblings/parents need from them. Fairly certain CEO MC is headed for an early heart attack with the amount of espresso she imbibes. Probably an author. Maybe an ex-broadway personjust because. IDK.
The PR LAWYER: Worked-three-jobs-put-self-through-college story. Patience, tact, good at calming people down. Detail oriented, a little fussy about appearances. Perennially exasperated by CEO (Please don’t promise to have a cure for cancer In the next three years with no data to back it up. No, you can’t punch the reporter for being a dick. Look, I know you WANT to donate 100% of proceeds to charity but please pick a friendlier one than ‘punch reporters in the face foundation’ that’s not gonna fly) never gets enough sleep. Has a key to MC’s house so they can come yell at her for making their life difficult at whatever hour of the night she insists on doing so. Is on MC’s speed-dial, which means they also get called to DD, though they’d rather not.
FLAKY MODEL(s?): Trust fund kid? Pretty face? Floats through life? The sort of person who will get on the wrong subway train and then just ride it all day people-watching never mind that they had an appointment six hours ago. Pose with a boa constrictor? Sure, as long as it’s being treated humanely. Tarantula on the face? Awwww, it’s fuzzyyyyy. No filter, no worries. Probably drags CEO MC along on a Caribbean shoot and PR Lawyer has to call and yell because that does not look good, okay? And poor MC is like, I thought we were getting a drink and model is like WE ARE we are getting tropical coconut water from the SOURCE here oh wait I don’t know how to drink out of a coconut…who knows why they are attracted to CEO MC, probably because she’s there and sticks around and no one else does. Human puppy dog.
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: young hotshot venture capitalist, thinks CEO MC is a bleeding heart (your employees do not need that many sick days, lost productivity blah blah blah why do we need a daycare onsite that’s a waste of shareholder money), kind of a math whiz, naturally lucky, doesn’t get along with family (gambling problem in the fam – which manifests in him in investment risks and unresolved issues) butts heads constantly with MC, frequently tries to get her fired – in part because his attempts to do so get her fired up and she does great things, which ultimately is better for the company than when she’s just doing her normal ‘good’ job. She is going to be royally ticked when she figures that out. Manipulative, but relatively benign under it all. The sort of person who smirks instead of smiles. All the time.
CHEF FROM HER FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Also a CEO though on smaller scale, because, running a restaurant IS running a business. Probably under the impression CEO MC is actually like, a graduate student with no money because she tends to get takeout at weird hours. Gruff, grumpy, abrupt, but heart of gold. Basically—will grumble about you coming in late but will add extra veggies to your pasta because you’re looking a little pale and need the nutrients and if you call them on it will snarl that they had to be used up they were going bad and he wasn’t going to waste extra, expensive, PROTEIN on you. (MC asks them out and then realizes the only nice restaurant she knows is the one the chef owns)
PRESCHOOL TEACHER: JUST A DECENTLY NICE PERSON. Checks in to make sure MC has eaten regularly, staying hydrated, needs anything fixed around the house (she can do her own plumbing but doesn’t like the electrical and hey it’s nice to have company). Good with kids. Maybe divorced and wanted them but ex-spouse didn’t? idk. Calm, not easily ruffled, sweet as pie, except when he’s playing video games and suddenly MC understands how he can get through the day without any aggression – he unleashes it on fictional zombies. Blissfully normal, all things considered.
PERSONAL TRAINER: “fine, whatever, EAT THE DANG CHEESE if you’re just going to ignore my nutritional advice we’re doing ten more reps” athletic, happiest when DOING versus saying or reading or sitting. Not as impulsive as you’d guess at first glance, because they tend to use working out as a meditative time to make decisions. Didn’t finish college because they realized they just didn’t enjoy it, but they did enjoy working with student athletes, which is how they got into training. Enviably fit. Wants to expand the gym so wheedles business advice out of MC in exchange for not harassing her about her tendency to drink coffee instead of water (she insists it has water IN it, it should count) not particularly intimidated by her, which is a pleasant change of pace.
Supporting Cast (non LIs)
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT: Keeps MC sane, has her back, schedules everything. Good at details, even better at smiling at angry people and making them not-angry through sheer force of sunny personality (actually a ruse, MC is convinced she’s actually the most delightfully evil person ever, but like some kind of fairy tale where when you acknowledge the thing it goes away, refuses to ever dive into figuring out). Older than the MC because we need to stop making middle aged women invisible in stories?? Sometimes has to remind MC of how much she does by holding silent protests (in part why MC thinks she is secretly a supervillain in the making) which are always, always successful.
PARENT COMPANY ADMIN ASSISTANT: Bane of MC’s existence. Smarmy, smily pain in the tush.
CFO: We have put in an official request with the company credit card management to start declining purchases at that coffee shop you go to, no this is not negotiable, it’s not in the budget anymore drink so darn water woman. Completely willing to go toe-to-toe with MC, meetings often involve a lot of yelling, but they’re always productive and no hard feelings.
CIO: Serpent-y, but not in a bad way. Just a very cool-tempered person, very contained, very guarded, very introverted. Never happy when she has to do presentations, so super willing to share knowledge with MC so she does it instead (she is not a great teacher, kind of judgey and shows her frustration when MC doesn’t ‘get’ it right away, but very brilliant, and there’s no malice in the judgement, just no filter). Extremely logic-oriented and process-oriented over people-oriented. Picks up and assess tech very quickly, and good at finding affordable, fast solutions.
RANDOM MARKETING EMPLOYEE:  Set up to be a villain but is actually like gung-ho on MC’s side. Literally an ex pageant queen, went to college on scholarship from it. Out of the workforce for awhile as a stay at home mom when her kids were young, but picks up the new trends fast. Now a single mother, so will literally fight the chairman if he tries to take away the company daycare. Some days uses the ‘people see a pretty face and assume no brain’ to her advantage, some days it wears her out. Unofficially drinking buddy with MC, even though they both feel weird about it given the fact MC is technically boss’s boss’s boss.
BARTENDER: also an ex-girlfriend maybe? Current best friend? Who she turns to when the barista cuts her off from coffee and the chef’s restaurant is already closed. Sharp-tongued, bristly, generally disgusted with MC’s six inch heels and slacks in her leather-jacket, cigar smoke bar. Like lady, you’re lost. Probably on the mob payroll at some point in her life.
ROUTE PLOTS:
(Chairman route?) MERGER – company has just bought another company, which is a major risk move for CEO (can only be one, so do you keep the old one on as a VP? Do you let them go? Will they be bitter/try to sabotage you?) you have to fend off internal sabotage, get everything running smoothly without either company falling apart in the process.
(PR Lawyer route?) Parent company did something massively shady and it’s tainting your company’s name too, so you have to scrounge to avoid having to fire half your employees and keep the company alive.
(Model route?) New product launch – hence why models are entering the picture. It’s a new business venture in the sense it’s targeted at a completely new audience your company hasn’t catered to before.
(Personal Trainer route?) Company is in its infancy, hugely risky time, and you’re doing everything you can to ensure it’s a success  (maybe including putting your own salary back into it, which means you can’t afford PT so they agree to work with you as long as you give them business advice)
FROM @han-pan- they keep trying to buy new retail space for the gym and MC keeps buying it instead because it’s SUCH GOOD PROPERTY and they sort of exasperatedly are like ugh fine whatever you owe me since you keep swiping prime spots out from under my nose

#4 - Boss!
Context: Sarcastic, ambitious, slightly aggressive, creative and caffeine-addicted CEO manages her business and falls in love, featuring:
Heroine: Risk-taker, smart enough to hire people to do the things she can’t (or doesn’t want to do), gets sh-- done and done well. Drinks too much coffee and does not know what work-life-balance is.
Barista: Peppy, optimistic, concerned for CEO’s general health and well-being. Chameleon.
PR Lawyer: Not paid nearly enough. Perennially exasperated. All to often CEO’s DD. Responsible.
Chairman of the board: hotshot venture capitalist with an attitude. Super alike to CEO which is why they bang heads a lot. Never smiles--just smirks. A lot.
Flaky model: Hired to promote new product, floating breezily through life like the blessed flower child they are.
Chef: Grump with a heart of gold, has CEO’s takeout order ready (with extra veggies because girl, vitamins)
Preschool teacher neighbor: Actual hufflepuff, single parent, has the work-life balance stuff figured out.
Personal trainer: Doer of things. Does not judge.
Supporting cast!: Possibly-evil-but-also-awesome administrative assistant, smarmy parent company vultures, cool-tempered CIO, quick-tempered CFO, ex-beauty pageant marketing employee/ally, ex-girlfriend bartender

🌹⭐🍐🌀🌺 for Cioffi
Ooh, I love that selection!! I shall gladly talk about Cio, thanks so much :D I put most of this under a cut since it got pretty long! 🌹 How easy is it for them to connect with others and make friends? On the flip side how easy is it for them to make an enemy of someone? Are they the kind of person who hangs around the food table at a party and never talks to anyone or are they the type who can talk to anyone? With other asura in particular, it's historically (and this is very much a generalization) not been so easy. They've been put off by Cio's connection to Primordus (or worse, wanted to study her). However, with people who aren't so focused on that one aspect of her, it's been fairly easy! She's not really the type to go chat people up, but if you start a conversation with her, she'll be able to hold up her end pretty well and probably have a decent time doing so. As for how easy it is for her to make an enemy? Unfortunately, it can be pretty easy, if only because she is very willing to tell people off if they are of the "we want to study you like a bug under a magnifying glass" variety.
⭐ What is your OC afraid of? Any crippling phobias or some such? How do they act when scared and what helps them calm down? Does anyone ever find your OC scary? Why? Like her brother (although to a lesser extent), Cio's not particularly comfortable being underground. It's not something she shares because it involves a) another reason she's different than most asura and b) explaining why, and to be honest, this is a fear she deals with by avoidance until she joins the Priory. Their libraries are underground (or, at least, a good portion of them are), so she slowly learns to deal with it and be able to spend time there by grouping something scary with something she enjoys (like books, or crafting, or spending time with Sieran.) A more existential fear that she has (or had, after Icebrood) is of what her connection to Primordus actually means, if anything. He didn't directly corrupt her; it was the result of, basically, an accidental magic reaction. But could he still control her if he woke up? To what extent? That's more just something she ponders at night that makes it hard for her to fall asleep, though she's also had a few nightmares about it before. And yep, people have found her scary, usually entirely (and incorrectly) based on appearance. Some Inquest have found her scary because she threatened them with a flamethrower, though xD 🍐 What is your OC’s mentality? Are they overall positive? Negative? A bit of both? Describe their thought patterns and reasoning behind their choice making! Cio overall tries to look at things from a realistic point of view, but it's been tinted positive and negative at different times in her life. Looking at facts helps ground her, and it's what she sticks to most of the time. One of the more positive periods of her life was most of her early days in the Priory, up until Claw Island. She felt like her life was on an upward trend--she was happy, had a job she loved (and a person she loved), and was finding her place in the world. After losing Sieran, she got more reckless for a while, throwing herself into things and not really caring much because she very much had the mental state of "things can't get much worse". She took a break from field duty for a bit after Zhaitan's defeat to try to get in a better place--her decision, though her brother did very much support her in it--and was closer to equilibrium by the time she jumped back into action towards the end of the events of LWS1. 🌀 Where is your OC from? Where were they born? Do they still live there, if not why did they move? If they still live in the area how has it changed since their childhood? How many places has your OC lived in and where has been their favorite? Cio and her brother Pliarr were both born in Rata Sum, but neither of them live there now. Pliarr doesn't have one set home, basically staying in whatever Order of Whispers hideout is most convenient for his assignment at the time (or staying with his sister), and Cio lives in Lion's Arch with her girlfriend Ari. Neither
of them particularly cared to stay in Rata Sum--too many memories and too much unwanted attention. Cio's been to plenty of places, but the only ones that I'd qualify as "lived in" would be Rata Sum, Priory headquarters, and Lion's Arch. The second and third are tied for favorite. 🌸 What does your OC’s voice sound like? Their laugh? Are they good at singing? Do they have an accent? Oh gosh, I'm so bad at voice claims unless someone's already put a suggestion in my head asldjf. I hear Cio's voice as kinda like the canon one but slightly...warmer? If that makes sense? Like, not exactly deeper, but less bright. A softer way of saying the words that isn't quite an accent. (I wish my brain could play sound xD ) For laughing, Cio tends to laugh pretty quietly in a way that's more adjacent to a giggle than anything. It's an accomplishment to get her to laugh loudly, and if you do, it's probably the kind of laughing that'll last quite a few minutes. She doesn't really sing, but she could do a passable job (at the very least) if she ever wanted to.

  News in brief
📰 Digital publishing revenues were down in the final quarter of 2019, before the coronavirus broke out in Europe and the US, suggesting the pandemic has accelerated an existing downturn, report the Press Gazette. 📰 Brands have to make tough choices affecting customers and staff during this pandemic, but acting honourably and communicating honestly will preserve trust, writes Tanya Joseph in Marketing Week.
And finally.. 🧙‍♂️ Fans of Harry Potter should head over to JK Rowling's Twitter feed where she asked people to explain Bitcoin to her, resulting in a barrage of Potteresque analogies. Pure joy. Thanks to group member Mary Ann for the heads up.
Until next time... Get in touch @TechJPR, [email protected]. And don’t forget our Facebook group. Oh, and don't forget to stay alert. RW

what are your notps? i can tag if you want (breaking up ship names in case people don’t want to see this in tags or whatever)
I’mma put this under a cut so people can avoid my bullshit, but basically, if it’s not in my About page, I don’t ship it.  The exception to this is like, light Mc//Gen//ji or Z//arya//Mei which I don’t really list because they aren’t “big ships” but I do enjoy them to some extent and will occasionally reblog them. (Also, paladinodanse, if you want me to remove your URL and name, I will - just let me know)
Basically my policy is this: I have certain NOTP tags blacklisted.  Generally, as long as it is not something a person reblogs often (e.g. every day, even every week) and they tag it appropriately, or for whatever reason they seem to be confused about the tag and use it...differently than I would but they still tag it, then I’m willing to move past it, but I make a mental note.
If someone has these NOTPs on their blog but hasn’t reblogged the ships in months then I’m willing to move past it, but again make a small mental note.
Some people will say this is giving an inch on topics that you shouldn’t.  While I agree with the sentiment, I do think that everyone has the potential to learn and think critically and grow as a person.  I have had my problematic behaviors in the past, and I’m not a perfect person now.  I will have my own growing to do for the rest of my life.  So I am willing to do a sort of “multiple strike” policy thing - if these strikes “add up” to a point where I cannot handle them, I unfollow.  This is what I did approximately one month ago when I “cleaned up” my dash.
This might be “too much” for some people.  This might “not be enough” for others.  But I run this blog to relax and engage in my silly Overwatch fandom shenanigans.  I am not going to fight over ships.  I have the ones I actively reblog and write content for in my About page.  Followers and friends should ask me about those ships and those ships only.
The only ships that will ever appear on this blog are: (sorry for the // but again, don’t wanna do anything wrong here)
Reap//er//76 (Mor//reyes//on), Mc//Han//zo, Phar//Mer//cy, Gen//yat//ta, Mc//Gen//ji, Ana//Hard//t, Spider//byte (Widow//maker//Som//bra), Sym//bra (Sym//metra//Som//bra), Z//arya//Mei, Bun//ny//Rib//bit (Ha//na//Lu//cio) These are my NOTPs that I have blacklisted:
1. Mc//Rey//es or Mc//Reap//er (including all variations of Mc//R//76 or even Mc//76): This is the big one.  This one I have the “lowest amount of strikes” for (at this point it is basically a zero-strike policy).  Mc//Cree is underage when he joins Overwatch.  He joins as Rey//es’ subordinate.  He is also subordinate to Mor//rison.  He joins at approximately half their ages.  Not only is this the equivalent of me - a young adult - hitting on a young teenager, but there is a heavy imbalance of power existing here.  Anything portraying any variation of these two men in a ship with the younger character is not okay with me.  That includes anything after Mc//Cree becomes an adult.
2. Mer//cy//76: Same as above.  Even if Angel//a joins as an adult, she is still half his age, and it is strongly implied that they knew each other when she was still underage.  I also headcanon both as being gay.  I also find the implication that an older man cannot be friends with or a mentor to a younger woman without some sort of romance involved to be really frustrating, upsetting, and unsettling. 3. D.//Va//76: same as the second one.  Plus like, she’s way younger than “just half his age.”  Like.  Guys.  Please.  It’s hard enough seeing people badly characterize both characters (usually him as a gruff, overbearing father and her as some happy-go-lucky gamer who fawns over him) in a platonic relationship, I really am not okay with seeing that go a bad step forward.
4. Shi//ma//da//cest (including any variation of this in a multiple-partner situation): I should not have to explain this one.  Much like the first one, this one makes my blood boil.  If number 1 is a “zero-strike policy,” this is literally a negative strike policy for this one.  If I see it, even blacklisted, on my dash, I will unfollow.
5. Mer//cy//Kill: see number 2.  Same situation.   6. I don’t fully know the ship names for these, but the following two are also NOTPs: Widow//maker//Reap//er and Som//bra//Reap//er.  See number 1.  I see Team Tal//on as a psuedo-family with Reap//er//Rey//es as the father figure and the other two as daughter figures. 7. Any variations of the “younger characters” with characters old enough to be their parents (aka 18+ years older than them).  This is not ageism.  This is recognizing that a lot of these ships are done out of fetishization or to “see two hot characters paired together simply because.”  I’ve seen a bunch of odd “rarepairs” that fit under this category and they’re basically just “no’s” in general.  They often have zero real chemistry in any form of Overwatch (the game, the comics, the shorts, etc), which indicates to me that people are pairing them simply because they can.   8. I have certain artists blacklisted.  I will not be naming names.  The “tea” about them is all over the place.  Again - I’m not perfect.  I have reblogged some of their stuff in the past, but this sideblog has several thousand posts and I’m not spending time to go back and delete everything, especially the stuff before I established my personal tagging system.  Consider it this way: If you haven’t seen me reblog their “newest stuff,” it’s because I have them blacklisted. If you need to unfollow me for the things that I have said, I will not be offended.  In fact, if you recognize that my stance on these matters does not work for you, then it’s probably for the best that we go our separate ways.   However, I would like to remind people that this is a sideblog - I won’t know if you’ve tried to block me or blacklist my main.  If you want me to unfollow you for whatever reason, you will need to let me know so that I can do so on my real blog. Once again, here’s the policy: If it’s on my About page, it gets reblogged.  If it’s not, it won’t be.  The only exceptions are Mc//Gen//ji and Sym//bra. Thank you to everyone for being understanding and patient with me.

Pharma funds are in enjoying their spot under the spotlight after a lull period in the last three to four years. These sector schemes have offered an average return of over 25% in the last year. Shivani Bazaz of ETMutualFunds.com spoke to Sailesh Raj Bhan, Deputy CIO – Equity Investments, Nippon India Mutual Fund, to get an insight into the prospects of the sector. Bhan manages Nippon India Pharma Fund that has assets worth Rs 2,851 crore under its management. Most mutual fund investors are excited about the 25% plus returns offered by pharma funds in the last one year. Pharma funds also seem an obvious choice to invest because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Are good times finally back for pharma funds? The pharma space is coming out of a very difficult phase in the last three to four years. While the sector was already recovering over the past 12 months on the earnings front, the stock prices were not factoring the recovery because of the narrow equity markets. This is one of the few sectors, where earnings can possibly double in a 4 to 5 year period with far greater visibility. The annual 8-10% price declines in the US markets have now normalized to a much more muted level of 3-4%, which is manageable through productivity and cost changes. On the domestic market front, both volume and value growth are likely to continue for many years, given the under penetration and rising incomes. Hence, this sector is likely to see a good traction over the next three years. Post COVID, health is also top on the agenda for all across the world. Importantly, Indian pharma sector has stood out in these trying times and has gained prominence as the “Pharmacy to the World” due to its quality and scale. The only trouble is that these funds have been struggling because of pharma companies' trouble with regulators abroad. Are these episodes behind us?Over the last 12 months a lot of FDA-related issues have seen resolutions. Being the critical lifesaving business, regulatory scrutiny will be a norm and Indian companies have significantly upgraded their process through investments in the last few years, which bodes well for the future.Pharma is considered a defensive sector or an evergreen sector. However, that is not how it played out for investors. Please comment. In the last three-four years, challenges were primarily related to the commodity generics product market like the US. Equity markets were imputing high valuations to commodity profits, which has now completely eroded. Domestic branded pharmaceuticals are a secular or defensive sector like the consumer sector. Given the rising share of India business in most companies from under 30% of estimated profits to closer to 50% plus, the overall profile of earnings has become more secular. With international markets also now becoming more profitable, overall earnings outlook has improved for the sector.Should regular investors stay away from pharma funds - just like any sector funds? Are they meant for only very evolved or sophisticated investors? While optically the pharma sector appears to be a single sector that is diversified into sub-segments like pure pharmaceutical business (domestic & international), hospitals, and diagnostics, or preventive wellness business. In fact if we analyse more in detail the domestic business is largely secular. While India is demographically a young country, the population above the age of 50 years is still a large number and with the higher incidence of chronic diseases in India, the pharma sector earnings from the domestic business have been getting more secular with contribution improving to 50-60% in most companies. Further, given the relatively secular nature of the underlying, long term growth opportunities, huge domestic under penetration, lower ownership etc, the sector presents an attractive proposition to all types of equity investors who have a medium to long term investment horizon. Investors should focus on their risk profiles to check for suitability. Can an individual investor take a small exposure to pharma to diversify? If yes, how much exposure should one take?Pharma is one sector where India has a competitive advantage globally. It also offers favourable long term opportunities due to the unfortunately high chronic disease rate and improving awareness of healthcare in India. Given that it’s a sector strategy, allocations to the same should be under 10% for investors, and should be made from a 3-5 year horizon. Further small investors can consider participating through systematic investment route (SIP or STP) over the next few quarters which help to even out the interim volatility.Nippon India Pharma Fund has offered 30% in the last one. However, it had offered very low single-digit returns between 2017-19, and negative returns in 2016. Four years between 2012 and 2014 were fantastic for investors. Should investors be prepared for such a rollercoaster ride?Analysed from a long-term perspective since its inception (June 5, 2004) Nippon India Pharma Fund has grown more than 18.6x (NAV Rs 186.20) and generated CAGR returns of 20.06% or in other words Rs 10,000 invested at inception would have been worth Rs 1.86 lakhs (all data as of May 31, 2020) thus illustrating the long term wealth creation possibilities. Any sector or theme-based fund can experience higher volatility as compared to diversified funds. As explained in the earlier responses, the pharma sector went through a challenging period over the last 4-5 years which impacted the returns. However, from the current context a lot of these challenges are normalizing and the sector offers reasonable growth possibilities even as a lot of other sectors have an uncertain outlook. All the key triggers like earnings revival, reasonable valuations, increased focus on healthcare in backdrop COVID-19, low ownership etc indicate possibilities of a reasonable recovery over the medium term. Nippon India pharma fund is well diversified across market sub-segments (Domestic, International, Healthcare Services etc) and market capitalization ranges and is well positioned to capture the sector opportunities. The virus scare is going to keep the focus on the pharma sector until a vaccine is found. Also, for some more time. Should investors take tactical exposure to the sector. We believe the sector should be evaluated from a fundamental point of view. All the challenges of the last few years are normalizing while the opportunities of under penetration, lower ownership and higher public/private investments provide a reasonable platform for revival. Further in times of lower growth possibilities across segments Pharma is one of the few sectors which has better growth possibilities supported by favourable earnings growth & reasonable valuations. Hence, we believe the sector should be considered for its fundamental possibilities. What are the special measures taken by you to manage the inevitable downside in the fund due to the strict investment mandates during a downturn? Nippon India Pharma fund adopts prudent risk management measures like diversification across various sub-themes like Branded & Generic businesses (Domestic & International), Hospitals, Diagnostics, Outsourcing etc. This diversification within the industry sub sectors to reduce impact of single events like policy changes, currency impact, etc. Single stock exposure is not more than 10% at the time of investment, thus ensuring lower concentration risk. Further our strong in-house research capabilities with extensive on ground research, interactions with pharma distributors/suppliers help in early risk assessment and portfolio rebalancing, if any. from Economic Times https://ift.tt/3dPs6bP

Hi all, this is my first post in this subreddit - I'm here because I'm new to startups in general, and have received an offer from a startup which the cofounders say is fair but my gut says is not. Here's the story: the startup is "Company," and we'll call the two cofounders "CEO" and "CTO" (their roles). Myself, CEO, and CTO all just finished our Junior year at the same university, and we're all good friends. CEO and CTO started Company around 2 years ago, and after some pivots Company started getting some real attention and a bit of money through pitch competitions and such.Last summer, I was doing an internship in the same city that CEO and CTO were working on Company, and since we're friends they asked if I could help them build out some of their proof-of-concept technology (neither of them know how to code, and I do). They offered $20/hour, and I spent the evenings and weekends of the summer building their proof-of-concept, which was good enough to secure Company a critical industry partner at the end of the summer. I loved the work and Company's mission, and CEO and CTO really enjoyed working with me. Last September, CEO and CTO decided to take the semester off from university to really focus on Company, and they offered that I join them in exchange for a 5% stake. I felt that this offer was a bit too low, and besides I was looking forward to returning to school, so I turned them down. The fall semester goes by, and in the spring CEO and CTO return to school (they missed their friends, and also thought they could still work on Company while enrolled in classes). Just before the spring semester, they reach out to me about wanting to assemble a team of students to further develop Company's tech; they want me to lead that team, as they know I'm a responsible manager and I understand this part of the tech way better than they do. They said they'd give me 1% equity at the end of the semester for my troubles, and I was excited to learn more about new technologies and technical management, so I agreed. To complicate things, also around this time CEO and CTO managed to attract several large angel/pre-seed investors, giving the company around $600k @ 3m pre-money valuation. As such, around a month ago when it became clear that we would have to extend our technical development through the whole summer, they offered to pay me a market-rate salary to join them full-time during the summer. I agreed, quitting the internship offer I'd lined up for myself as a result. It's recently become apparent to all of us that, since CEO and CTO don't know how to code, I will actually be a critical part of the Company (essentially CIO) until much later this year when we try to raise a Series A. As such, CEO and CTO want me to take the next year off of school with them to work full-time on Company. And I want to join them, because I'll learn a TON in this role, I like working with them, and again I love Company's vision. This week, we've been negotiating the terms of my role/compensation.Here's the tricky part: (bear with me here) I technically never signed any paperwork at all because I trust my friends, so as of now I don't technically work for the company, I haven't been paid, and I own no equity. I know, probably stupid of me, but CEO and CTO are genuinely trustworthy guys. Anyway, that means the contract I sign now must take into consideration everything I've stated above, and I just received my offer. The offer: $25/hour backdated through the previous summer (totals around ~$8000). Market-rate salary (TBD) for all my full time work from here forward. 1% equity on an accelerated (1-year, ~3 month cliff) vesting schedule. I become the CIO until we raise a Series A (probably in 6-8 months), at which point the (heartless, haha) new investors will likely want to bring on a CIO with actual industry experience. I should note that I won't personally be building most of the core tech from here forward, because it's much more complex than the common databases/website/app you see in many tech startups nowadays (we need things like custom cloud architecture, custom computer vision algos, ML/analytics, visualization, etc.). We'll be hiring experts in these subfields, but I will be the one managing them and filling in all the inevitable gaps that arise when building a technical product.Equity questions: When I noted that 1% seems low, they noted that that's all they've set aside and that giving me any more will require them to dilute current investors and will likely be a red flag to future investors (makes sense). However, I can't shake the feeling that, for the first employee and the only manager who knows anything about code, 1% is still really low. Not to mention the fact that they seem to want to recognize me as a co-founder, probably just because I'm their friend and that title is a nice thing to have had down the road, but still. For reference, CEO and CTO each have over 35%.I understand that since CEO and CTO started the company, have really stuck with the vision through thick and thin, and single-handedly raised over half a million in funding, that they should absolutely have more equity than me. But is over 30 times as much still fair? I was thinking a first employee in my position would generally receive something along the lines of 3%, and if I was truly positioned as a new cofounder than that'd rise to around 8%. Again, I really am not sure how to make sense of any of this.Does this offer seem fair for my existing/future contribution to the company? Is it true that there's really no good way for the company to issue me more equity? Thank you all so much for helping a newbie!
