Oh my GOD Matt Dahan you are such a fucking genius because the eerie silence at the end of ‘Gunpowder and Rum, Part 1’ after Rose’s “Samuel? Who are you talking to?” where it’s just the silence of the waves and the ship? And then the eerie music tone???? I can SEE IN MY BRAIN the absolute panic that would go onto Samuel’s face as he turns back to Kal with furrowed brows at first, confused by Rose’s question, only for Kal to not be there and then Samuel to just… scramble, looking around the deck, his head violently swinging from side to side as Rose grows more concerned and the sea raged in its silent but never silent way around them before it launches into the start of ‘The Conversation’. Like MY GOD it’s just so magnificent. Like he could’ve just… launched into the next song. But he lets Samuel and Rose and US THE AUDIENCE linger in that moment, that panic and realization of “Oh fuck.” And it’s just so so chef’s kiss. Each episode of Pulp Musicals is truly an experience and I am so far thoroughly enjoying my first listen of The Ghosts of Antikythera.

It's so interesting to me that John isn't Sir John Herschel(TM) anymore. I mean, he's still himself, but without so much of the baggage that came with being him. When we first meet John, he's traveled by boat all the way from Cape Hope to yell at the Sun because they could ruin the reputation he's worked so hard to build and maintain. In Brick, he admits that he's keeping the Satellite a secret because he's terrified of not living up to his father's expectations and example (perhaps part of why he freaked out so much in Hoax?). And now... that's all over. Whatever Sir John Herschel's legacy is, he's done shaping it. He's been dead for 39 years. And while that might mean that John the actual man is suddenly adrift without the money, power, or influence he enjoyed through most of his twenties (his attempt to solve their problems in "When Are We?" by simply shouting his name is very funny to me), he's also, for the first time, truly rid of the weight of great expectations.

John is penniless. He's also finally free.

Coming at y'all with some non Character art for once, just some fanart of perhaps one of the best scored scenes in audio medium history! Margaret and Sia sending Kal the fuck away always gives me chills.

I've been stuck in a rut, after posting my most recent art of Max and Grace- even before that, I've been in a sort of Art block. I've been trying to switch things up and be unique with every piece I do, not allowing myself to create whatever the hell i wanna create. Today, i couldn't draw anything, no matter what poses i lay down on the page, nothing felt right. So, in order to combat that, I went back to my roots. I used to paint landscapes a lot, in fact I taught myself to paint with landscapes, so i figured i could do a nice little atmosphere piece to get my head in the game. Anyway, here we are one hyper focus session later and I'm feeling good.
