twitter has a fundamental misunderstanding of raf and i fear i may go to my grave defending him like he is NOT boring and lacking in personality he is someone who’s spent his life running back and forth between two countries and is painfully shy and as such has never been able to know who he is so he obsesses over people who he thinks will make him someone special and maybe elevate him and his family out of a financial situation which they never understood and seth gets his claws in straight away and lovebombs him in an already stressful situation.

i accidentally just deleted three entire paragraphs of this post i’m gonna die

n e ways he tries to make friends with kirin with his little dick joke and kirin goes bananas and scares him into the woods like a little animal and then he nearly makes friends with josh despite josh putting his foot in his mouth at EVERY opportunity but then The Event happens and raf makes the obviously wrong decision of defending seth even though he never actually attacks josh and only directs his anger at kirin and ivan and THEN seth comes back and he finally gets the backbone to tell him to stop bothering josh and the following situation culminates in him eventually beating seth to death on a boat for a guy who has continuously called him the wrong name and been a hot mess

and THEN!!! he meets leah and tries to make another Little Joke and she starts yelling in his face about experiments and now is where I point out he was never supposed to be Boy Leah he’s just her foil to show their different outputs but I’m sure they both love ben folds and highbrow literature and probably also terrible men. in my mind they’re weird best friends in s3 and everyone is slightly unnerved

and he’s trying really hard to be a better person but he’s excruciatingly shy and he won’t even use the name rafa so he doesn’t ‘have to fight’ some other kid on the soccer team for it (field notes) even on an island with a bunch of kids who have never met the other rafa. also he and josh go to a private catholic school and i know they are both weighed down by Religious Guilt. also if I hadn’t accidentally deleted this post it would have been a lot longer and better written but this is what you’re getting

at the beginning of the wilds season 2 i was so ready for a raf/seth love story ..i had no idea

#i get that the writers were trying to show that oftentimes perpetrators of SA and abusive people in general are charming and charismatic #and kind and funny and sensitive and thoughtful on the outside. and incredibly manipulative. and so it makes it easier for people to #believe the perpetrator didn’t do the thing that they did #like i get that and i think that’s important!! #it was also very jarring and it felt like the rug being pulled out from under me (which again i understand was the Point) #and it broke my heart that the writers set this romantic connection up to then snatch it away and reveal seth to have #this violent and manipulative and volatile and unpredictable part of him just beneath the surface #idk a lot of what they did this season was interesting but a lot of it was also lacking in depth/explanation/motive/etc #anyway the whole ‘seth turning out to be a perpetrator of SA and someone w a pattern of abuser behavior’ thing just punched me in the gut #the wilds #the wilds season 2 #the wilds season two #seth novak #raf garcia #rafael garcia

Idrc who winds up with who all that much as long as Leah doesn't wind up with Raph and nobody fucks with Seth (which is gonna happen and sadly it'd probably Martha or Leah) . Like dotin? Cute asf Leatin? Not apart of the crazy wave but they could be cute to me leachel? Also could be cute. Martha with Bo would be cute. Kirin and Martha could be cute if done right but I feel like that's a big if.

Oh the idea of Leah and Raf makes me wanna break my spine in half and swallow gasoline. He’s kind of a loser 🤢🤮 his only redeeming moment being the boat scene with Seth

I don’t think anyone will end up with Seth or like him but I do think he will perhaps attempt to prey on one of the girls or become obsessed with one of them like he did with his friend who’s name I forgot sorry girl

I had a thot about a potential Martha x Kirin moment but idk I don’t think he would mesh well with her. I think her and Bo’s soft, gentle personalities and their love for those they deem family makes them a better match. I also think a scene of Bo being nervous to speak to Marty because he thinks she’s beautiful would be cute

rafs ethical volleyball game is so heartbreaking to watch honestly. you can see him just spiral further and further into not knowing anything at all. he was so quick to be the voice of reason at the beginning and then he was toyed with so much that he just lost it all. and i really think the parallels of him and leah will lead to him having a crisis of sanity next season.
