When asking for men who are also people of color next time ask for men of color or MOC. Sorry, I know it’s a small grammar thing but it bugs me on levels for reasons. Lords of the børing

  =>> dugamaniac - 17h29 Mon streaming a figé. Ben j'ai mis du temps à m'en rendre compte.

A B O U T
Name: Aidan Bhanwadia Nickname: None Age: Twenty-Two Date & Place of Birth: November 3rd, 1994 & Seattle, Washington. Sexuality: Up To Player Pronouns: He/Him Faceclaim: Avan Jogia Alternate FCs: Suraj Sharma, Raymond Ablack, Dev Patel Status: OPEN
M O R E
Major: Up to Player + Criminal Justice Classification: 'Senior’ Occupation: Student & Bartender @ The Spot Rank: Hero Power: Gravity Manipulation Limitations: While Aidan can manipulate the gravity of others, it is difficult for him to manipulate how gravity affects him. Increasing gravity is easier than easing gravity.
P E R S O N A L I T Y
+  protective, outgoing, clever –  sarcastic, insecure, harsh
B I O G R A P H Y  (tw: racism)
For many years, the first several years of Aidan’s life, he was a normal kid. He had two supportive parents that encouraged him to try out new things. Or so he thought. Even from a young age, he noticed there was a weird distance between himself and his father. As well, whenever there was news about supers on the television, the channel was almost immediately changed. Whenever Aidan would ask why, his parents would just offhandedly say that they weren’t a fan of super heroes - that cites with a hero population were more susceptible to attacks. Otherwise, his childhood was normal. He had a lot of friends, got into trouble for breaking things, and had an innate curiosity about everything.
In high school, he noticed even more of a drift between himself and his father. Whatever Lily did was fascinating to Aldin, but with Aidan, his passions just earned him a ‘that’s nice’. And Aidan just tried harder to try and get his father’s approval, to no avail. This made him sort of resentful of his sister, but he also knew, deep down, that it wasn’t her fault. As well, the ideology that superheroes were the ones causing all the cities problems were further drilled into he and his sister’s heads. They were even discouraged from seeing superhero movies, because they promoted propaganda.
At seventeen, Aidan’s life turned in a new direction. He’d begun noticing strange occurrences. Sometimes when he’d be in P.E., he could make the weights easier to lift with enough focus, or as he’d think about the pencil stuck into the ceiling falling to the ground, it did. Then one day, he was at in the cafeteria having lunch when someone began to pick on his best friend, Tyler. The bully, Aaron, was calling Tyler all sorts of slurs and as soon as he laid a hand on Tyler, Aidan stepped in. Things quickly escalated. First to screaming, and then to shoving. Aaron swung first and as soon as he contacted Aidan’s gut, the adrenaline rush took over. Without a moment passing, Aaron hit the ground, hard and couldn’t move. And somehow, Aidan knew that he had developed a super power. The school security was quick to act and send Aidan to the principal’s office, giving him several days of in school suspension while Aaron got off with a warning. This caused the boy to be paranoid, thinking that the reason Aaron got off so easily had to do with the fact that Aidan had developed this superpower - not owing to his race.
When he finally confided to his mother about what had really happened, he finally learned the truth. Aldin wasn’t Aidan’s biological father. Shortly after Aldin and Laura married, she had an affair and he found out years after the fact. But this incident only drove more tension in the household. Late at night, he would hear his parents angrily whispering about the incident, and how they now had a child with powers. The night he heard them talking about how they could find someone to remove his powers was the night he left. Tyler family opened their arms to Aidan and it was there that he heard about Skybourne. Tyler’s father attended school at Skybourne University and learned how to control his ability there. And Aidan wanted to do that, and learn more about heroes from a non-biased stand point, so he enrolled and has been taking a few hours every semester while keeping up a full-time job.

Victoria Hernandez: She frequents the bar and has become a regular of his. Although they’ve never hung out any time aside from his shifts, he’s interested in learning more about her. All he knows is that she’s looking for a space for her business.
Stella Walsh: Aidan has seen Stella and her friends come in to the bar time and time again, and he has never seen her pay for a single thing. He’s only talked to her a handful of times, but she’s a lot more down to earth than he expected.

I made a full 13-episode animated web series with Plotagon.
Creator’s Commentary
I was just messing around and then this happened.
Tumblr media
I stumbled upon Plotagon via Aris Martinian’s Worm Abridged series, itself a derivative work based on Wildbow’s epic web serial Worm. Impressed by the software’s results, I downloaded it on a whim. The editor soon draws you into its fast and intuitive user interface and before long I had a draft of what would become “I Hate You”.
Having seen Aris Martinian’s work on Worm Abridged and Satan’s Threads, I really wasn’t expecting to produce anything on that level of quality. Instead I saw it more as an outlet - and indeed, the themes of Are You Happy are representative of the kind of headspace I’ve been in. Most literally, a recent falling out inspired the rough outline of episode one.
I’ve gone on a bit of a kick lately in terms of using restrictive programs to tell stories. Plotagon’s plot editor is almost the antithesis of Marvel: Create Your Own (an online comic editor I used to create “Everything Is Red Now”) in that using it doesn’t feel like deliberate self-harm. Making stuff with Plotagon is actually a lot of fun.
Tumblr media
The “movie script” aspect of the editor is inspired and you can hit play at any point to see what you’ve got so far. Sure, there are restrictions - you can only have two characters in a scene, you often have next to no control over camera angles, there aren’t really enough actions (and, to a lesser extent, expressions) to choose from, strange intonation can often ruin the delivery of lines, and most of the program’s assets must be purchased via microtransactions. It’s far from a perfect experience, and yet at the same time I can’t get mad at Plotagon. There’s an infectious, self-aware excitement to be found throughout the developers’ promotional videos, and you can’t help but share that excitement at times.
Plotagon includes its own video-sharing service, which seems to mostly be used by middle-schoolers as a strange kind of social network. I left that aspect of the program alone, choosing instead to render my videos directly to mp4 and thumbnails as animated GIFs (features which feels almost too convenient for this program, but I’m not complaining).
I also chose to ignore the “record your own dialogue” feature and the optional subtitles. A theme I was going for was that these characters struggle to communicate, and the stilted auto-generated dialogue played into that. However, that same awkward delivery ended up making a fair few jokes fall flat. In hindsight I probably should’ve just changed the jokes.
Tumblr media
Plotagon gives you a few characters to start off - four teenagers and two adults in an even gender split, plus Santa. The two adults are Ms. Green, who I forgot to utilise, and Mr. Hernandez. The teenagers are Jessica, Samir, Lizzie, and Scott (the guy Mr. Hernandez picks a fight with in episode two). It also provides “Chris the custom character” as the only editable example.
I messed around in the character editor and created Katia and Philippe, and later made Detective Raymond and the devil (who I dubbed “Literally The Devil”) as the plot demanded. It’s only now that I realise I gave Philippe the same t-shirt and footwear as Chris - oh well. I’m also not really sure why I gave Katia red eyes like LTD.
I’d planned to give Raymond some kind of uniform, but everything good was locked. His strange outfit ended up informing his character.
Tumblr media
Literally The Devil was male at first, basically by default. I soon decided to avoid the traditional slick-hair-and-a-suit look in favour of a fiery haircut and casual clothing. Their t-shirt, which reads “Speak up against bullying!” was chosen on sight. Trying to find a combination of lower-body clothing that worked with this t-shirt proved difficult, and the decision to make LTD female was cemented when I realised that the red skirt looked far better than the other options (although how this turned out at the bus stop was unfortunate). Lizzie clearly had problems with authority, and I liked the idea that she identified with the devil on some level. I guess LTD’s design is just a manifestation of that.
Tumblr media
The decision to do thirteen episodes (the typical length of a “run” of TV) including a three-part finale was made at some point after episode seven, with the death of Mr. Hernandez death serving as a springboard for the rest of the story. Indeed, it isn’t until episode four that we get some kind of explicit continuity. The title of the finale, “The Agenda”, and its inconsistent numbering are a reference to the three-part Season 2 finale of Beast Wars: Transformers of all things.
Tumblr media
Three episodes of the series end with the line “bye Felicia(s)”, and another three end with “well shit”. There’s a parallel where Lizzie expresses disappointment in an authority figure using the latter phrase in her first and last episodes - Jessica’s use of the phrase in episode six is less disappointed and more surprised.
Tumblr media
“White-Hat Hacking” is, incidentally, my least favourite episode of the series. Most background music is available under the editor’s “music” category, but some falls under “sound” for some reason. Once a sound is played, it cannot be stopped manually - this means that the “pirate ditty” I wanted to use for Jessica needed to play for a set length of time and I needed to stall in order to get Raymond’s entrance right. This basically resulted in a bunch of low-effort jokes existing purely to support another low-effort joke - someone getting arrested for piracy.
Tumblr media
Other episodes I rate poorly include episode three, “What Are We Learning Today?”, and episode nine, “Ever Get Tired Of Movies?”. Episode three is barely thirty seconds long and consists of maybe two jokes, and the “well shit” line doesn’t really work in the moment.
Tumblr media
Episode nine, on the other hand, is the third-longest. With Jessica and Lizzie both under arrest I knew I was planning a breakout, so I grabbed two random characters I’d thrown together in the editor and sat them down on a sofa. I guess I find the idea of people watching a movie together occasionally weird, because it’s a kind of social interaction without social interaction (I suppose that’s why it’s such a popular choice for first dates), so I decided to use that as the basis of Katia’s insecurities. I’m not really happy with how her relationship with Philippe came across, and I think that’s mostly down to eccentricities in intonation and animation. The first draft of “Ever Get Tired of Movies?” was even less funny than the final draft, which says a lot. Still, it provides an interesting change of pace - the fact that Katia and Philippe’s flaws aren’t as blatant as those of the rest of the cast helps cement them as worthwhile additions in my opinion.
Tumblr media
I’m probably happiest with how episode seven, “The Faculty Bathroom”, turned out. Jessica’s monologue in episode six opened the door for a single-character episode, and something about the idea of showing Mr. Hernandez on his forty-five minute smoke break appealed to me. Only one bathroom is available freely, one which clearly belongs in a house, but most people often perceive their teachers as living in their schools and I like the idea that, on some level, Mr. Hernandez lives in this bathroom.
Tumblr media
We’ve all had teachers who are nice enough people but who are terrible at their jobs, and Mr. Hernandez falls squarely into that category. We don’t even know he’s a teacher until his second appearance, because in his first he’s too busy getting advice from a man dressed as Santa.
Tumblr media
A friend of mine suggested that Santa should quote Genghis Khan in “What is the Meaning of Life?”, and this quote ended up informing his behaviour in the rest of the series. I knew from the start that this man wasn’t really Santa, and I like the juxtaposition between who he is and how he presents himself.
Tumblr media
I didn’t set out to have a particular “protagonist” in this series, but Lizzie settled into that role and I ran with it as best as I could. The final episode, in my opinion, struck a good balance between humour and offbeat drama. I’d kept the weirdness firmly rooted in reality until that point, which makes LTD’s introduction all the more surprising. Incidentally, the sound effects used for the transitions to and from the green room were: “death beam”, “arrow hit”, “bone crack”, “fart”, “crash”, “soda can opening” and “swoosh”.
Tumblr media
Several people commented on the abruptness of the ending, saying that it lacked closure. Does LTD actually exist? Does hell? I’d say no, but it doesn’t really matter either way. I see the finale as being about Lizzie recognising that her life isn’t going in a direction she likes and deciding to change that, and I guess that was enough for me.
Tumblr media
I picked the title Are You Happy mostly on a whim - LTD asks Lizzie this question in the finale, and I think almost everyone in the show is unhappy about something or other. Bo Burnham has a song under the same title, but that wasn’t an intentional link. If I had to pick an overall theme for the series, I’d probably choose Precious Kid’s “Jaded”, not least because it includes the question “are you happy” in its lyrics.
Tumblr media
Plotagon remains on my taskbar for now, unopened. People have asked if I plan to make any more. Probably not, but you never know.

Review Of The Rhyme Cross By Langston Hughes.
Earlier, Jay Sekulow, one of the legal representatives representing Trump in the Russia examination, had rejected that his client was involved along with crafting a deceiving statement regarding Donald Trump Jr.'s June 2016 appointment with a Russian legal representative. Troyat professed that Peter begrudged because he stated at least he knows who his father is". Rug hair shampoo is in fact an uniquely produced liquid soap material, which is made use of in order to tidy grimy carpetings. Dad and son created Integro, a brand new force in the agenting neighborhood, along with $300 numerous private equity funding, mainly assembled through John. That when this performs he'll need to partake his grown-up diaper and also await homecare, or me, to find through and also tidy him up. The wedding ceremony was held at her house, White Residence Sugar plantation, which was found on the Pamunkey Stream, in New Kent Area. You are actually absolutely no a lot less from a mama to that little one just because they now deal with their dad more than along with you. Meanwhile, a very interested relative from Roland's, who was actually a trainee of Papa Raymond J. Bishop at Street Louis College confided in him concerning the metaphysical task taking place in the Doe house. For the macho daddy who presumes air duct tape is great for everything, he will definitely really love duct tape flowers offered to him as a gift. To check out other father browns enjoying with their kids at parks, or even instructing them how to work with a vehicle or mow a lawn, and ponder what brought in that youngster unique enough for his father to stay. When I was seeking my biological mommy, clearly, y' understand, I was actually searching for my natural father concurrently. Even if the United States gov' t created some words on a notepad and also contacted it a law - the humans rights take action 1964)- as well as made white colored guys integrate ... doesn't create it straight. For recent five years, Peter Hernandez, 49, from Sunlight Valley has actually been both a mommy as well as a father to his family of 4 children, while providing fatherly tips and also support to 5 more mature children. I agree that a well-maintained, well managed home is calm and also a joy to reside in. If exactly how you reside isn't really affecting your family or your own self negatively, at that point well-maintained away! His mother recently perished in a boating collision while his daddy was actually very seriously harmed. Once my father has been actually gone many years as well as I am a granny and also a mom, I recall my father carefully, spots plus all. I used to believe that had my father been really feeling suicidal in 1999 or even 2009 as opposed to 1989, he would live today. The rhyme continues through saying that Albrecht's papa possessed energy to cease this evil however instead he released that, a power and also selection that Anakin Skywalker made before becoming Darth Vader. Given the ideal project, there is actually no reason that Dirty Lady" shouldn't clean in the specialty market. A male kid needs his papa in his lifestyle, http://lucasstrenght.pt as well as the girl only injures her kid( s) when she aims to prevent them off possessing a father-son partnership. There was actually the assumption prior to the 60s that Europeans were actually extra in to sexual activity, unclean or even typically. When a white women sleepings as well as possess children along with dark men she certainly carries out not want to be actually with men from her very own race or think that our company are actually not good enough for her.

Hyperallergic: Artists Sift Through Archives for Memories of Miami
MemoryLab installation view (all photos by Barron Sherer unless otherwise noted; all work sources courtesy the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives at Miami Dade College, HistoryMiami Museum, South Florida)
Juan Maristany’s “Untitled,” a two-channel video installation of archived home videos, is currently projected across a 32-foot-long wall on the second floor of the HistoryMiami Museum. The wall is curved, bending to match the gaze of the eye and the flow of a walk around its length. “Untitled” is part of MemoryLab, an exhibition curated by Kevin Arrow and Barron Sherer of Obsolete Media Miami. The 16 featured artists/collectives (all of whom have ties to Miami, but currently live scattered throughout the country) were invited to explore the archives of both HistoryMiami — dating back 10,000 years — and the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives. The artists searched through home videos, letters, documents, and images, finding physical ephemera and strange histories with which to create new work.
Each of Maristany’s found images or looped clips is visible only long enough to briefly imprint themselves the brain; then, they fade, dissipating into ocean waves or smooth blackness. In one shot, there’s an unmoving pistachio-colored house, single-storied, low-roofed, and blanketed with palms. It’s unclear when the video was taken, but it’s a familiar, timeless scene to anyone who’s grown up in South Florida: the intrinsically cozy quality of a subtropical landscape, homes ostensibly protected by the dense flora surrounding them.

What does memory look like? Don Arnold and Richard Roberts, two researchers at the University of Southern California, engineered small probes to light up the synapses of a living neuron in real time. They discovered that when new memories are formed, the synapses that appear as bright spots along the neuron’s branches (dendrites) change shape. Memory, then, looks like literal shifting patches of light, given the right conditions. And what of Florida’s memory? Does it, too, look like scattered patches of light?
Miami’s reputation — a long history of not caring much for its history — is unfair; consider efforts like the Florida Memory Project, or Obsolete Media Miami itself. The entirety of Florida has a complicated history, of diaspora and weird ecologies and “only in Florida” tales, and the future of South Florida specifically is equally complex, threatened with sea-level rise and the questionable ethics of its cities’ council members. All histories are multifaceted, contingent on who’s telling it, and that’s maddeningly clear here. In their examination of Miami’s history, the artists in MemoryLab are essentially communicating the city’s present and future, because life is too cyclical to keep it all separated.
Julie Kahn, “DEPOST (trading post)” (2017), Spanish-American war Cigarette trading cards, artist trading cards, Seminole trade objects, trade objects from Havana Biennial & Art Basel Miami Beach, audio, video, dimensions variable
Glowing like a bright synapse at the exhibition’s entrance is an installation by Domingo Castillo, who placed on a wall several maquettes depicting various developments throughout Miami. In the wall’s center are four videos displaying, in juxtaposition, the policing of Miami’s neighborhoods and Getty images of plastered shots of high-rises and birds soaring over an Atlantic Ocean intended for the rich. The piece has an accompanying reader titled “Yesterdays, Tomorrow, Today,” a 245-page document including the W.A.G.E. manifesto and essays like Paul S. George’s “Policing Miami’s Black Community” and Raymond A. Mohl’s “The Interstates and the Cities: Highways, Housing, and the Freeway Revolt.” Mohl writes, “In Miami, Florida, state highway planners and local officials deliberately routed Interstate-95 directly through the inner-city black community of Overtown…Even before the expressway was built…some in Miami’s white and black press asked: ‘What about the Negroes uprooted by the Expressway?’” Even without the dense reader — which you must ask for at the museum’s front desk — the dichotomy of the images provides enough unsettling context.
Racial exclusion and xenophobia are examined in “Passing Through,” an interactive piece by Elia Khalaf, who sourced home videos of a Cuban family in exile, letters from a mother to her immigrant child, and photographs of a tourist in Lebanon (Khalaf is Lebanese). These are placed along a wall designed to look like a television. The opposite side is grid-patterned, with each square left blank for museum visitors to write their own notes, working in collaboration with Khalaf to piece together a fragmented history. “We built Miami,” says one; “we were all immigrants once,” reads another. Khalaf’s accompanying text for the piece reads: “In fear of conflict between Christians and Muslims, the end of the Lebanese Civil War resulted in government-mandated censorship barring any mention of the atrocities that occurred within the country between 1970 and 1991. This state of forced amnesia leaves the writing of history to me.” All of us with diaspora in our blood understand what it means to occupy this space, of reimagining your own history, of writing yourself into a narrative that sometimes excludes you.

In “Untitled (We will settle for a place among the pines and the palms; a city without walls),” Adler Guerrier touches on the idea of diaspora too, his images (both color and scanned black-and-white) of Florida’s plant life acting as backdrop to a small TV showcasing found footage. They’re mostly news reels from 1980 to 1984, showcasing local Floridian reactions to Cuban and Haitian immigrants — one segment features a doctor explaining that, despite a pervasive fear of Haitian refugees bringing AIDS to the US, it is not logical to designate a group of people as being a carrier of disease; another section discusses, pejoratively, the Miami-Dade public school system’s leniency in allowing teens who “can’t speak English” to graduate. But Guerrier, who was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, tells me he does not want to simply highlight the negative backlash with this work, which is also about “the magnetism Miami had to waves of refugees. These Haitians and Cubans, they knew, ‘This is a place we want to be.’”
Shahreyar Ataie, “Lipstick Aviators” (2017), mixed media, dimensions variable
The duo Archival Feedback (T. Wheeler Castillo and Emile Milgrim) captures this magnetism by exploring the peculiar aural landscape of Florida via fieldwork and research. Their three “Audiographs,” displayed in a vitrine with headphones for listening, are made of polycarbonate, a material resistant to humidity. “Star Factory” draws upon sounds from the Miami Museum of Science and Space Transit Planetarium, whereas “Sounding the Bay” traces Biscayne Bay through hydrophone recordings — you can hear the gurgling of fish and the sound of cars driving above — and, most fascinatingly, there is “Greater Miami 1934,” which translates an old map into electronic sounds — the map is played like music.
Alliance of the Southern Triangle A.S.T. (Diann Bauer, Felice Grodin, Patricia Margarita Hernandez and Elite Kedan), “Landscape (Test Patterns for Future Positions)” (2017), video projection and monitor installation; three-channel video (color, sound), MDF set
Willie Avendano’s Invitation Suites, two sets of videos comprised of dreamy archival footage — a baby’s birthday party, a carnival ride — use data sequencing to repeat and dissolve the images over and over, mimicking the way memories feel inherently chaotic. (Full disclosure: Avendano is a friend.) Only real memory recall is more faulty. MemoryLab restrings memories like Christmas lights and data, and we begin to process them like dreams. These realities are composites of so many others, and as such do not really exist, yet we feel, hear, and experience them.
In fact, some of the works seem premonitory, and if so, they might come to fruition and imprint themselves on our memories in a much more deliberate way. In “Landscape (Test Patterns for Future Positions),” a video by the Alliance of the Southern Triangle (Diann Bauer, Felice Grodin, Patricia Margarita Hernandez, and Elite Kedan), weather maps and hurricane-tracking agents become a composite model of everything we can only try to understand about climate change, or weather in general. Foretelling sea-level rise or a hurricane’s power are ultimately abstractions, not yet added to our history, though their exigencies feel real enough to reach.
Jamilah Sabur, “A point at zenith: Become a body with organs and smell the flowers” (2017), three-channel video with hyper-directional sound, dimensions variable
Jamilah Sabur’s installation, “A point at zenith: Become a body with organs and smell the Flowers,” was the last one I explored, and the only one in which I was able to experience in utmost silence. One enters into a room fully projected with a green grid, watching a video in which Sabur is dressed as a jockey wearing a gas mask, trapped in a jai alai court on an upper floor of an abandoned building. This building, explains the piece’s accompanying text, stands at the corner of NE 2nd Ave and 50th St in Little Haiti: a current point of contention due to its impending, expensive development. Here, we have both the fate of a problematic situation and a reference to something that feels decisively Floridian (jai alai originated in Basque, but remains popular in South Florida), a fictional character stuck between the two. As Sabur explained to me, “I imagine that the building is surrounded by toxic air.” This is possible, maybe probable, but we try to reimagine a better outcome for Florida, over and over and over.
MemoryLab continues at the HistoryMiami Museum (101 W Flagler St, Miami) through April 16.
