FLUFF
since baekhyun knows how to make scented candles, he creates one for you as a birthday present with your favorite fragrances.
every entry in mark’s diary involves fond thoughts about you.
taemin kisses you more than his cat kkoongie on a daily basis so let that sink in. his smooch obsession is getting out of hand.
lucas, having giant fingers after all, learns how to knit in order to make you a warm scarf. he’s still a bit clumsy with it and had to call kun for advice, but the result is surprisingly proper and quickly becomes your favorite item. it’s a little huge but well, he thinks in his dimensions. lucas’ next project is a beanie.
ten overwhelms you with pet names. in fact, he seemingly seems to come up with a new one each day.
kai is a candlelight dinner, rose petals and music kinda guy. he does every old-school thing in the book.
taeyong can cuddle endlessly in bed. he just doesn’t wanna leave.
lucas gladly shares his sweaters. they’re ginormous so, perfect cuddle material.
baekhyun is already a fool. so — when he falls in love, he becomes an even bigger fool. or, the contrary happens: he becomes dead silent around his partner because he’s so enthralled. he can take this more seriously than you think.
mark likes to write little cards and many many texts to express his love.
lucas is the type who can help you put on your jeans when they were shrinking a bit too much in the dryer. he’s pretty sexy like that and things can get really touchy.
cheesy fucking kai, and there’s only one guy who would do this, has actually lowered himself over a puddle once so you would have a bridge. brushed it off like a daily workout rep.
not one shower missed without baekhyun joining you. yes, it’s not always sexy time, he likes it when you shampoo his hair and whisper sweet nothings. and obviously: it’ll all devolve to a laughing fit.
taeyong is the type who wants to be proposed to.
taemin will get a motorcycle license and take you for a frequent ride. he loves getting those kind of back hugs.
both ten and lucas are great at making bracelets. wayv’s dorm is fully equipped with charms, strings, and pearls, so expect matching ones for you.
we’ve seen it, that one’s his favorite move. kai wraps his hand around your shoulder when you walk together.
mark will ALWAYS share his melon.
making you swoon on a DVD evening is lucas’ favorite hobby. he will buy you the most sugary-sweet romance movies. he will often browse streaming sites to select the latest sentimental plots. all these dramas seem to have a male lead who is suspiciously tall and lanky.
if you allow him, taeyong customizes your white tees with his cute drawings.
since taemin swims in money thanks to his profession as the god of kpop (yes, this is a registered job name because i say so), he can fulfill you any wish. he’s stingy and pouty when the shinee hyungs can pay, and the motherfucker baekhyun is even richer since his albums have been taking off so he opens his mochi wallet when superm is gathered, but you... are a different case. taemin will humbly empty his entire pockets when he overhears you gushing over something. there’s a voice in his mind going: must splurge!!
mark loves christmas, you establish an annual tradition to stage a whole couple evening.
baekhyun likes to play charades and especially do karaoke with you. he’s always cutely wiggling his butt and dances like a drunk uncle. he hits the high notes anyway and makes sure you score 100 points.
taeyong can make out with you while at the same time making sure that the milk doesn’t get burned on the stove. kiss’n’stirr multitask tyong alert. gotta make sure the cocoa is served in time, you know.
all the members enjoy playing board games. yep, imagine the fun and sheer chaos.
lucas has the funniest laugh ever indeed. he’ll react to all your jokes, no matter how lame they might be. intensely reassuring.
taemin’s hand is basically glued to yours.
taeyong and mark are the kinds of boyfriends that spoil their partner with skincare. fancy a nice face massage with a nice fragrant oil?
baekhyun has been baking heart-shaped pizzas ever since you started dating. he just can’t make them round anymore.
mark will join you on anything you’re currently bingewatching.
kai sometimes — only half-jokingly — goes down on both knees bowing forward with his hands on the ground just to show how much he wants to thank you. in case you didn’t notice: this guy treats you like a deity.
ten usually gets confused glances from the other members whenever he gets the current date wrong: he simply loses track of time with you.
lucas makes a habit of buying you flowers every other week. but on unpredictable occasions, and he arranges them in places you’d never expect.
taemin will build you a weird-looking snowman to make you laugh, and give it an even stranger name. ten will build one that looks like you. kai doesn’t build snowmen, he just stands there challenging you to throw snow balls at him.
mark will hang out with you at the beach constantly bringing his guitar. he’ll serenade you all the time.
returning from three months of touring, baekhyun has once climbed your balcony when your parents were in the other room. yep, he was that desperate to see you. somebody give this man a rope and helmet.
taeyong writes down heartfelt confessions on 365 folded slips of paper so you can open one every day. your reactions will range from ‘awwh!’ to straight-up tears.
ten does regular couple yoga with you. a mildly challenging form, not the circus acrobat version. he’ll do the difficult parts anyway. you can pretzel this guy up, he’ll do anything to make you laugh.
when it rains you hook your arm around his, and lucas always holds the umbrella. even the wildest gush of wind can’t make it turn inside out. you arrive home entirely dry. xuxi is so cute, he’s also a great source of cooling shadow in the summer without even trying.
taemin’s skinship overdrive doesn’t stop with endless hand-holding, back hugs and kisses. he wants to lay down in your lap whenever he can. he looks damn pretty with his hair splaying there. if you work on your laptop, you can pretty much count to ten and he’s already nestled there.
kai does pushups with you on his back. it’s a staple. each time he does one, he says ‘i love you’. he increases his count every day.
NSFW
it’s no secret that taeyong is great at acting or pulling off any outfit and costume. expect roleplay of the finest kind — literally. he looks good in a firefighter uniform. you’ll be burning up pretty much automatically.
taemin can’t keep his tongue in. it’s terrible. he’s always in the mood for head. his sloppy noises are the absolute worst, it turns you on way too fast.
lucas had some major problems finding condoms that fit him.
ten and taemin are so switchy, they have an unresolved power struggle going on. begs for a dominant third party to help them out.
kai owns expensive latex gear.
baekhyun may be the king of vocals and breath technique, but if you push him far enough he does get hoarse.
taemin often jokes how kai will one day break his dick from fucking too hard.
meanwhile, mark’s dick is already falling off – from fucking too often. this guy has some major hormones going for him. no surprise, a guy who can promote in four kpop groups at the same time is a stamina king.
taeyong likes eating pussy with another party involved. three’s a crowd my friend. sometimes it’s taemin who unleashes his spit waterfall power, sometimes it’s baekhyun who preoccupies himself with nibbling at the inner thigh while taeyong digs in.
taemin owns the most underwear.
mark takes valerian drops because he is so nervous in bed. it never really goes away, it’s his nature.
taeyong keeps a lube collection. a different flavor for all occasions. he likes associating certain scents with specific body parts.
kai has a heels kink. he literally goes wild over it.
taemin likes to have sex with favorite glasses on.
taeyong and kai are the most likely to cry during sex. baekhyun as well if you rough him up enough.
mark gets rock hard the fastest, followed by kai. he’s a grower.
taeyong gets the best inspiration for a song when he gets a casual dick riding.
taemin watches extremely x-rated erotic thrillers and bdsm flicks that are heavy on the plot. he gets more invested in the characters and actors than you think. since his japanese is amazing? of course he also owns a giant 90s hentai collection.
when he’s jerking off, baekhyun chokes himself. a) because he’d make too much noise otherwise and b) because asphyxiation is his favorite thing.
kai feels pleasure in his every cell. he cums the hardest. and, as you can expect, his body expresses it the most extremely, accurately, passionately. if you’ve seen it even once, you’ll never look at him the same again.
taemin has less experience than his discography claims, but more than you’d think. he researches sexual techniques as well. you can brace yourself.
mark has not just a tiger inside, but a freak inside, waiting to be unleashed.
sex while gaming is a go-to activity for baekhyun.
lucas has the best stamina when it comes to getting head.
taemin throws his head back during sex. and no, he doesn’t T-pose. i’m kidding — of course he does. but only when he’s on his back.
taeyong tends to grip a pillow when he cums.
or he humps one when he’s by himself.
ten has the best taste in sexy time playlists.
baekhyun has the best taste in singing his own playlist along.
oh, the things kai has bought at a gas station at 3AM.
baekhyun sucks strap the best. he can open his mouth the widest, drools a lot, and makes the best noises unsurprisingly.
how to turn on lee taemin? he likes getting slapped.
since he’s the most avid and most diverse eater, lucas’ sperm tastes the best. he’s shove 50 fruits into his system just to give you a sweet experience.
mark is absolutely a starfish.
kai wears fishnet tops if you fancy it.
curiously, baekhyun out of all people doesn’t announce when he’s cumming. you’ll hear it, though.
taeyong’s dildo collection is one for the books.
taemin has visited a pro dominatrix a couple times. needless to say, he was the #1 favorite client at the dungeon. having fully submerged into a fantasy world, taemin was one whip crack away from falling in love with the mistress. but then covid happened and the venue closed.
mark’s dick looks really pretty.
taemin can grind on the strap at every humanly possible angle. he’s almost always ready to take it. he carries a prep kit.
kai — that fucker — knows how to make you wet the most with his bare hands. prepare for the thigh ride of your life, too.
taeyong, baekhyun, and taemin have the best arches. kai is coming for the top three as well. ten’s arch is so good, it can’t be considered one anymore.
baekhyun knows every adult movie out there. theoretically, nothing can shock him. in reality, he melts in your hands.
taeyong is so sexually active with you, he has quit eating garlic.
kai will exploit your muscle kink in any way he can.
taemin, being a devil, has that one button on his phone that he can press when you go out for dinner. he’s OBSESSED with getting you off. once you head home, it’s basically running down your thighs.
ten has once opened a condom with scissors to scare away a date that grew weird on him by the time it got to the do.
lucas is too tall for doing missionary normally.
this will surprise nobody: mark is great at constantly keeping up the dirty talk.
baekhyun’s car is sort of like a brothel on wheels. he can’t count how many times he got down and dirty in there. he cleans it all up by himself.
kai can technically grip you the hardest but he’s the gentlest and great at caressing the whole body.
taemin has the easiest time saying what precisely he wants. he is also the best people reader — most your wishes he can pretty intuit. taemin observes your interests well.
ten likes his hair pulled and makes angelic noises when you do so.
baekhyun likes camgirls and erotic chats with strangers online. he spends a lot of money for nsfw internet encounters.

===
The song fades out.
You reach down to your Walkman beside you and rewind, then play again.
Oh... I know I'm unloveable You don't have to tell me I don't have much in my life But take it - it's yours I don't have much in my life But take it - it's yours Oh...
The bed under you is littered with tissues and your eyes just started to dry. It’s 10 in the morning and you hadn’t slept a wink. You’ve been listening to the Smiths for the past 8 hours and there’s no end in sight. The sun shines brightly into your room and you wonder what Steve is doing. You wonder if he’s sorry. You wonder if he meant it. You wonder if you’ll ever get your friendship back.
I know I'm unloveable You don't have to tell me Oh, message received Loud and clear Loud and clear I don't have much in my life But take it - it's yours
Through your headphones, you hear the phone ring. You don’t flinch, however, choosing to let it go until it stops. But it starts back up again, and for whatever reason, it seems louder and more urgent. You sigh and rip your headphones off, heading downstairs to the receiver on the wall. You clear your throat and roll your shoulders back, expecting it to be Steve, calling to be an asshole again.
“Hello?”
“Y/N?”
It’s Veronica.
“Veronica, hey,” you say, uncertain. “Are you alright?”
“It’s Steve,” she says tearfully into the phone. Your heart drops to your toes and you lean against the wall. You hear her sniffle before she continues. “He’s gone.”
“What do you mean, he’s gone?” you breathe.
“We got a wellness check this morning to go to his house, his front door was open all night.”
Your heart lurches up now, right into your throat, and you feel sick. Did you leave the door open? No way, you remember closing it purposefully. You locked it, too.
“Chief sent Callahan to check it out, and he’s saying it doesn’t look so good.” Veronica is openly crying now. “He said – he said it looks like there was a struggle.”
“Wait – Chief sent Callahan?!” Anger flares in you; Steve was your partner. You should have been called, not Callahan. And Callahan was virtually incompetent. It all left a bad taste in your mouth.
“Yeah, he sent Callahan,” she says, confusion lacing her voice. “He said he didn’t want anyone else to go except Callahan, Powell, and some of the other guys. Y/N, you gotta get over there, for my sake. I’m freaking out over here.”
“Chief doesn’t want me to go?”
“Doesn’t seem like it.”
Your eyes narrow as you stare at the wallpaper of your house, trying to swallow your rage. “I’ll head right over there, Veronica, stand by.”
You slam the phone down and run to get dressed. You don’t even bother brushing your hair or your teeth, you just take off, anxiety clutching you. You are relieved that he lives so close, so it’s only a five-minute drive to get there, if that. The place is swarming with cop cars, sealed off with yellow tape. The neighbors are standing on their porches, watching with worry. It pisses you off, but you don’t have time for that. You duck under the tape and head towards the door.
The door had obviously been kicked in – you can see the wood splintered. When you walk inside, it’s chaos. There are multiple policemen there, and some of the men in black suits who were at Brimborn when the body was found. You nearly collapse. You grab onto the wall as you survey the room. You see a photographer photographing the weapons Steve had dropped last night, and you laugh weakly. You push yourself off the wall and walk over.
“Those are Steve’s,” you say. “He had those last night.”
Callahan, who was standing nearby, turns to look at you. “You look like hell, Y/N. Have you slept?”
“Why didn’t anyone call me?” you hiss. “Steve is my partner. I only found out from Veronica.”
“Chief didn’t want a new person on this case,” he says, shrugging.
You scoff and gesture to the room, filled with people who had never been on a case before. Callahan shrugs again. “Maybe Chief is a misogynist.”
You want to punch him right in the face but stop yourself. With a heavy sigh, you start to tell him about last night.
“Steve and I – we hung out last night,” you recall. “He uh – he showed me these weapons, and he just – he put them down, here. And then he was going to bed, and I left, and I know I locked the door, and I know that I shut it.”
Callahan nods. “What time did you leave?”
“Maybe two?”
“Call came in around seven,” he explains. “Neighbor saw his door was wide open but that his car was still in the drive.”
You shake your head in disbelief. “I don’t understand –“
But then it hits you.
They probably followed you from the bar. They probably waited until you left to go grab him.
And his bat was in your car, his weapons on the living room floor. He had no protection.
It was your fault.
Feeling sick, you grab onto Callahan, who slowly sits you on the floor. His face is contorted in confusion, and a few other police, including Powell, surround you, brows furrowed.
“You don’t look too good, Y/N,” Powell says, concerned. “You should head home.”
“No,” you say, dragging yourself up. “I’m going to the station.”
===
You whip the main door open, flying past Veronica, who gets up to trail after you. You hold your hand up to her and she relents, heading back to her desk and sniffling. You burst into Chief’s office, and he’s simply sitting there, smoking a cigar. The rage comes up hot and quick, and you can’t help yourself when you fly off the handle.
“What the hell is your problem?!”
Chief sighs, sitting his cigar down. You slam the door shut. “He was my partner, Chief. My partner. And you – you call Callahan to investigate? Are you joking? Do you think this is some sick fucking joke?”
He is silent, still, letting you continue your tirade.
“Even if he wasn’t my partner, you know he was my best friend. My best friend is missing, and you don’t even have the – the thought to call me? I have to wait for Veronica to call me, crying, because you sent the most incompetent person to investigate? I was with Steve last night, I know he -“
“You were with him last night?”
Your cheeks burn. “Yes. I saw him last night.”
Chief leans back in his chair. He analyzes you, and you hate it. You feel like a bug under a magnifying glass.
“How do I know it wasn’t you who did something?”
“Are you joking?” you ask, offended.
“What did you do last night?”
You take in a sharp breath, calculating if you should tell him. Steve thinks Chief is behind it all, and maybe he is – but what else are you supposed to do? It might be important that you were at that bar last night. Maybe it did have something to do with his disappearance.
You swallow hard. “Last night, we went to that bar on the edge of town.”
Chief’s face is unwavering.
“And I think – I think someone might have… followed us from there.”
“So, you two, underaged, went to a bar last night.”
You nod once.
“Why?”
You don’t know how to tell him without outright saying hey, we think you are in kahoots with bad people and are trying to destroy the town. So you go with, “We think people at the bar might have had something to do with the body.”
“You two were doing your own investigations.”
You nod once, again.
“Behind my back.”
Your cheeks burn once more. “You know that Steve thought it wasn’t a –“
“Steve has been through a lot,” Chief says. “Steve doesn’t know –“
“You never even gave him a chance!” you cry. “You brushed him off and now he’s missing, and you can’t even bother with an actual investigation –“
“You will not talk to me like that!” he roars, standing up.
His anger only fuels you, though. “You’re a real asshole, you know that? You know everyone wishes it was still Hopper, don’t you?”
“You’re too emotional, you know that?” he asks, glaring. “Don’t think I didn’t hear about what you did to Tommy Hagan.”
The color drains from your face and your heart lurches. After a moment you ask, “What are you talking about?”
“Carol Perkins came in the night it happened,” Chief spits. “Told me that you used your submission techniques on a civilian, all because he insulted your boyfriend.”
You scoff, but it’s a bitter feeling to be reminded that he isn’t yours. “Steve is not my –“
“And now you’re here, yelling at me, your boss, your mentor, because you think I’m incompetent?”
You can only stare at him in silence.
“You’re too emotional, Y/N,” he repeats, sitting back down. “I tried. I tried to make this work. I wasn’t going to say anything about what you did to Hagan. I thought it was a one-time thing. But emotional people don’t make good cops. Y/N. Your emotional outbursts aren’t very becoming of a competent investigator.”
Your stomach drops, and you know what’s coming.
“You’re fired.”
It’s silent. You feel like you left your body. You can hardly breathe or think.
“You can come pack up your things tomorrow.”
Your eyes look to the floor. You push back tears and press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. You turn on your heel quickly and walk out, slamming the door shut behind you again. It feels like your world is flipped. You lost your best friend and your chances at a future all in the span of an hour. Now you couldn’t even help the investigation, because you were too emotional. Chief was right.
But you weren’t going to stand back and let Steve be hurt or killed, wherever he was. You were going to find him, with or without the station’s help.
You pull the door open and step outside, but Veronica catches you. You look back at her. She has tears in her eyes, and they are bloodshot. Her hair is a mess. It strikes you that she probably looks like a mirror image of you. Another girl who loves and cares about Steve, wants him safe and sound, wants him found.
She suddenly shoves something into your hand. “Take this.”
Your brows furrow and you look down. It’s a plastic bag with a napkin in it. The napkin.
Your eyes shoot back up to hers. “What – how –“
“It was in Chief’s desk,” she says, voice thick with anxiety. Her eyes dart around as if she’s scared to be caught – and she is. “Found it this morning before he came in. I figured – if Steve thought it was so important – so I looked for it –“
Your head spins. Chief did take this napkin out of the evidence room. He hid it. Steve was right. Holy shit, Steve was right.
“Veronica,” you say, grabbing her shoulders. Your eyes are hardened, determined. “I promise I’m going to find him.”
She nods and gives you a quick, tight hug, before heading back inside. You shove the plastic bag into your pocket and rip out of the parking lot, heading towards your house. You know you need to find out what happened last year. You need to figure out what Steve was hinting at all those nights you spent patrolling.
You run to your phone, and it rings right on time.
“Hello?” you ask, breathless.
“Where have you been? We’ve been calling you for the past hour.” It’s Robin, and she’s pissed, but her voice as an anxious edge to it. “It’s all over the news – what happened? What’s going on? Do you know anything?”
“Robin,” you choke out. “I need you to tell me what happened last year.”
She pauses for a long time. “Meet at Mike’s house tonight. Five o’clock.”
===
Everyone gathers into the basement. Whether you had information or not, you planned on going back to the bar to figure out what the hell goes on behind closed doors. You had changed into another outfit, leaving your uniform in a heap on the floor of your bedroom. You tucked your knife back into your garter, the same as you did the night before. You remember the feeling of Steve’s fingers on your bare skin and swallow the feeling of rejection that sits in your throat.
Truth be told, you were about to lose it. The emotions of everything that happened were just sitting within you, waiting to be given just enough attention to activate the waterworks. You were exhausted, too, coming up on 36 hours being awake, but you couldn’t rest. Not until you found Steve.
You clap once to get everyone’s attention and start. “They put Callahan on the case, and they fired me. Steve’s house was a mess, so there were signs of struggle, but that’s all I know in regard to the investigation.”
“You got fired?” Robin asks.
“Doesn’t matter,” you sigh. “You all know we’ve been patrolling, right?”
They nod.
You reach into your jacket pocket and pull out the plastic bag Veronica had given you. “We followed Edwards to a bar on the edge of town a while back, and last night we went to it. Steve pointed out this private lounge, and there’s a side entrance that Edwards went through the other night. I assume it’s for the lounge.” You sigh. “I don’t know what happens inside. But I do know that Edwards tried to hide this piece of evidence that was on the body – it’s a napkin with the bar’s logo on it.” You pause. “I think Chief and this bar are up to something. I think whoever runs this bar took Steve.”
Everyone is silent.
“But Steve hasn’t given me a lot of information. I know he was involved in the fire at Starcourt, but he keeps insisting the same “bad people” who did that are behind all of this. And I don’t know what he means.”
A murmur falls over the room, and you clap again. “I need you guys to tell me what the hell happened last year, because that’s the only way I’m going to be able to get to the bottom of this. Steve was right about some things, so I – he’s probably right about this, too.”
It’s silent for a moment, and then a cacophony of voices start, mixing together, making your head hurt. You hear “Russians”, “mall”, “Will”, “mindflayer”, “Billy” – all kinds of words that made no sense together.
“Hey, hey!” you say, clapping your hands together. “One at a time, please!”
“Last year, the mall didn’t burn down,” Dustin says. “The Russians had a base underneath it –“
“And Steve, Dustin, Lucas’ sister and I stumbled on it –“
Max cuts Robin off. “And the Russians opened the Gate – it’s a portal to the Upside Down –“
“Which is where intergalactic monsters reside,” Lucas explains. “And they were going to use the Upside Down for warfare, I guess, but –“
“My mom and Hopper called this guy, Doc Owens, and he came with the military and shut it down,” Will finishes.
You stare, mouth open. Finally, you say, “So – what? What does Dungeons and Dragons monsters and – places – have to do with this?”
“That’s just what we call them,” Mike says impatiently. “Keep up.”
“So there’s an intergalactic portal in Hawkins,” you say slowly. “that the Russians opened. And they were going to use its powers for… warfare?”
El nods silently.
You nod slowly, trying to keep up, as Mike said. “Steve said that the same company that built Starcourt built this bar, and Mayor Kline signed off on it. So Steve must have thought that the Russians are also running this bar that the Chief frequents.”
Everyone nods in agreement.
You curse under your breath. “Ch- Edwards must have known about Steve being onto him and wanted him gone. So… we all can agree the Russians probably have him, and Edwards is probably working with them?”
Everyone nods again.
“Phenomenal, that’s just great,” you mutter, running your hand down your face. You can’t believe god damn Russians are in your town, you can't believe Steve dealt with them before, and you can’t believe they kidnapped him - or killed him - because he was actually onto them. But it all makes sense now; Steve’s apprehension on letting people in. They’d probably been watching him for a while, and he was trying to protect you from being in trouble with them. Steve’s anxiety, Steve’s inability to believe everything is fine. Why he wanted to be a cop in the first place. It all suddenly adds up.
Everyone is silent for a moment before Max pipes up. “That was a classic Steve move. You know, you and Steve really would go well together.”
It stings.
“Yeah,” Lucas adds. “Why aren’t you together?”
It hurts.
“That, um… that ship sailed last night, actually,” you confess, throat dry. “I tried to... but it didn’t work out.”
Dustin gasps softly. “You told him you liked him?”
“Can we please get back to the rescue mission?” you groan, imagining Robin telling you told you so.
“What’s the plan?” El asks quietly.
“I’m going to go back to the bar and try to get into their private lounge,” you say, starting to pace again. “Then I can figure out what happens there, at least. And I can knock it off the list of places to look.” You sigh. “That’s my only lead right now.”
“What do we do?” Dustin asks.
You turn and look at him, brows furrowed. “You stay here.”
“No way,” Robin says, pushing off the wall she was leaning on. “We’re not going to sit here while you go for him. We are helping.”
Everyone agrees, and you huff, irritated.
“Look, if you want to help, you stay here and help me,” you say. “Will, could you get Owen’s number?”
“I mean, I can ask my mom –“
“Great. Does anyone have a walkie I can borrow?”
Lucas hands you his and you nod in thanks. “We communicate through these.”
“No way!” Robin says. “We aren’t going to sit here –“
“Robin –“
“No!”
You have an intense stare down with her. You try to use your eyes to convey they severity of the situation. But the truth is that you have no idea what they’ve seen, the terrors they lived through. You only know a third of the story, if that.
“You’re not the only one who loves him,” Robin says quietly. “We love him, too. He’s our friend. Friends have each other’s backs.”
You stare at her for another long moment before sighing. You bite your cheek and think for a moment. “Alright, here’s how it’s going to go.”
You lay out the plan. Dustin and Robin will come with you to the bar. You wait until nighttime to move. They’re going to distract the bouncers at the private entrance, allowing you to slip inside. When Robin and Dustin lose the attention of the bouncers, they go back to the car. All parties have a walkie to communicate with. Will is to get Owen’s call number and have it on standby at the Wheeler’s house with the rest of the gang. If there is something bad happening, he calls and alerts them. But he waits either for your signal or for half an hour to pass with no contact. The others are irritated that they can’t come – like, ridiculously irritated – but El says that it’s “halfway happy.”
“Are you sure this is going to work?” Mike asks. “Can you do this on your own?”
“I’ve been wrong before,” you say with a bitter smile. “But I’ve got the training.”
You go over the plan a few more times before having Robin and Dustin come out with you to your car. They seem content with their close involvement, and you hope they don’t try to manipulate you into letting them do more. Dustin opens the back door and gasps.
“The bat,” he says softly, then looks at you. “What’s it doing in here?”
“He left it in here last night,” you whisper, guilt running through you again. You squeeze your eyes shut. “Maybe if he had it, if I ran it in to him….”
“Hey,” Robin says softly, gripping your arm. Her gaze his warm and comforting, and for the first time in the past day, you smile.
“You didn’t know,” she says. “You didn’t know. It’s alright. We’re going to help him now.”
You take the bat out and place it in the trunk. “I really hope he’s where I think he is.”
“One step at a time,” Robin says gently.
You shut the trunk and straighten, looking at your new partners. They’re ready and willing to help; smart and cunning, quick and trusty. You sigh and hold your hand out.
“Let’s do this,” you say, and they pile their hands on yours, Dustin smiling toothily and Robin smiling gently.
You hope you don’t screw this up.

DMC Week Day 7: College AU
For my final entry for DMC week, I chose to write the trio as college students playing Final Fantasy XIV – Nero, V & Nico.
A self-indulgent AU fic (haven’t played Final Fantasy XIV in years) based on a few college headcanons.
Thank you to everyone and all that’s read my works during this week! Your support means a lot ❤️❤️❤️ Here we go, hope you enjoy!
Nero as Warrior, tank
Nico as Machinist, damage dealer
V as Summoner, damage dealer
***
Nero nervously stared at his health-bar steadily going down as attack after attack scratched down his life despite all the buffs his character had on. The controller vibrated furiously in his hands, his jaw clenched. The boss would be dead at any second and the healer was trying their best but the bad connection they had so far had was making Nero nervous. Wasn’t a heal long overdue? Weren’t their character just standing still?
“If you perish, I got Resurrection ready.” V said, his voice ever so calm that it actually made Nero grin. Was he ever happy he’d gotten himself this new headset that let him regulate game and party sounds separately? Yeah, they were in a bad spot, but the boss was so close to dead now. They’d get through it.
“Nico!” He called the second the limit break chime could be heard in his headset.
“On it!” Nero could basically hear the buttons on her controller being slammed, together with her laughter. “Eat this!” Nico’s machinist character pulled out the crossbow, ready for the shot that would send the boss to oblivion.
“Dammit!” Nero shifted his character as an AoE marker appeared under his feet, along with certain death as his health was reaching less than 5000. Even if V revived him instantly, Nero as the tank dying now might just spell their doom.
The boss inched after him, leaving the indicated line of Nico’s limit break. Winds whipped around their characters, but they all managed to avoid more injury.
“Whoa, whatcha doing?!” Nico exclaimed in disbelief.
“Just aim again!” Thrill of Battle was back off cooldown, restoring some of his health. Sweet.
“It got used up, asshole! Healer dc’ed!” Nico’s voice snapped his focus back. Another buff off cooldown and he used it.
“What?!” Did that have to happen at this crucial moment? One quick glance at the party list said ??? for the healer’s status.
“Nero, your Holmgang should be ready for use. Just hold on.” V calmly stated and Nero blinked as he realized V was right. Had he been counting seconds since the last four minutes??
“Fuck!” The progress bar over the boss’ life told him a tankbuster was coming. Nero waited, his finger on the trigger for Holmgang, his sweet 6-seconds of almost invincibility to save him if needed. He pushed the button, the bright orange line above the boss filled the entire way, the hit connected, the controller in his hands vibrating valiantly. Hit points sailing down to zero. Swears bubbled up in his chest, flowed out of him like a sailor when the boss started to move towards Nico. But it had sooo little HP left!
“I pushed the button, I swear!” Nero shouted in disbelief, heart pounding in his chest, did they really have to redo this??
A sharp blast of white light engulfed the boss, sending it to the ground and the screen faded to black for a second before the victory cutscene played, with Nero’s own character magically on his feet. This was why he loved having V as a summoner on their team.
“Freaking finally! We did it!” Nico celebrated. Nero grinned, feeling as if a stone lifted off his shoulders.
“Let’s check gear!”
“No healer means one less to compete with!” Nico singsonged, letting her character put her grabby hands on the treasure chest. A healer chestpiece popped up on screen. Nero’s sigh was mimicked by Nico, none of them were a healer, not even close. At least there was a Strength ring for him to grab.
Nero blinked as the notifications told him V had grabbed the healer chestpiece. Unprompted, the summoner spoke.
“Perhaps I should go as a scholar, for our next dungeon. Our luck with healers tonight has been… less than fruitful.”
“Nah man, continue with summoner if you want, we’ll be--”
“Do it!” Nico stated on the top of her lungs, her microphone bumping into her chin as she grabbed for a cigarette. “I wanna see the end of the next dungeon tonight!”
“I can go paladin for extra heals.” Nero shrugged, even if neither of his companions could see it.
“And give up that sweet damage, really?” Nico teased, making Nero huff.
“I can play defensively every once in a while.”
“Uh huh…” Nico snickered, while all he heard from V was a chuckle.
“What, I can! Come on, let’s go to the next one!” Nero prompted and grabbed for his soda, eager to go again. Leaning his head back for a sip, there were just two drops meeting his tongue. Damn, when had his beverage run out?
“As… enjoyable as progressing further would be, I am fairly certain you both have lectures in the morning?” V said matter-of-factly while there was a weak rustling of a book page being turned coming from his microphone.
“Yeah, so? I can do it for a bit longer--” Nero started, checking his phone for time. It was waaay too late! “It’s already FIVE?!”
Dry coughing made it clear Nico had just swallowed smoke.
“Y-y-yer…” Cough. “kid-ding!”
“Hell no!” Nero exclaimed.
“Why didn’t ya say somethin’?!” Nico coughed at the sole calm person.
“I did try to, both at one and three o’clock. You both were a bit too… absorbed in what we were doing.” V calmly stated, making Nero groan, oh yeah, they might have been into everything. It wouldn’t be the first time…
“I gotta scram, I’ve got an exam tomor-- today!” With that, Nico’s character was logged out, her voice chat icon offline.
Nero sighed.
“Hope that works out for her. What about you V?” The sign out option showed up at the click of a menu and Nero clicked himself out, the calming music of the title screen trickling through his second-hand headset that smelled of energy drink. At most he’d be able to get what, two hours of sleep? Was it even worth it at this point?
“I will attempt to sleep. I do not have a lecture until the afternoon.”
“Lucky you, vampire.” Nero snorted, his dormmate’s chuckle meeting his ears. “Catch you at lunch then?”
“If I have awakened until then, yes.”
“Great.” Nero knew he should log off, get some sleep. But damn, he didn’t feel sleepy at all. He knew something would keep him up, if he went now.
“Hey V?” He tried, hoping the other hadn’t shut off his headset just yet.
“Yes Nero?” V didn’t sound bothered by the quiet inquiry, despite being about to head to sleep. Nero inhaled, through his nose.
“I told you my grade dropped a bit, right? From last exam?” During the day, he brushed it off, no problem. But at night, it was hard to not feel some… nervousness over what could happen, if his grades dropped too much. Nero needed to keep it up, if he wanted a new scholarship and he not only wanted that scholarship, he needed it so badly to stay.
“Yes.” A pause, followed by V softly closing a book. “Are you worried it might happen again?” He softly asked.
Nero scratched his nose, V even knew before he voiced the issue? He wasn’t sure if he felt relieved or called out.
“Yeah, something like that. I know our subjects are pretty different…” No shit, considering V was reading the classical poems and literary works of people whose names Nero barely could pronounce. But V had great study technique, always fixing his assignments on time, something that Nero had failed to do, several times. He admired that, about the dorm vampire with a love for classical music. V’s voice was always a joy to listen to as well. Maybe he didn’t say everything he was thinking, but his voice was deep, calming at this late hour.
“But, you up for studying together? Someday this week? I think I need someone to help me not procrastinate so much and Nico is not that…” If anything, she either sat with her notes and realized she had found out something brilliant for her own studying, or she was digging the rock music Nero always put on while studying, just as much as he was.
“I don’t mind.” V replied, making Nero grin with relief over having one guy in his corner. “We can start with hiding your headphones. Or your Bluetooth speaker.”
“Right…” Maybe that wasn’t such a bad idea, Led Zeppelin did snatch his focus otherwise. Nero let out a small laugh. “But you’ll give the headphones back, right? I need those for my morning runs.”
“Hmm, perhaps.” His dormmate teased.
“Or you’ll come along on my morning runs to keep me company?” Nero tried, he had given hints to get V to join him in the fresh air, the early morning sun for weeks now.
“Too chilly for me, I’m afraid.” Was the soft reply. “I will retire for now, Nero. Do try to get some sleep.”
“Yeah, fine… Thanks V.” Nero’s eyelids actually felt a bit heavier now.
“You’re welcome. Goodnight. Or perhaps, good morning.” V replied with a chuckle.
Nero groaned, giving a goodnight before ending the voice chat.

Bad Things Happen Bingo! The event where you send me requests according to this marvelous card! (Green crosses are finished prompts, lime green crosses the one completed in this fic, and colored lambda-ish signs are prompts I’ve gotten requests for already).
I'm fresh out writing a novel-thick Arc-V fanfic and man I've been in such a great fandom mood! I thought my first entry for my 2nd BTHB would be for Pokemon or Trauma Center as those are the video games I've played recently (I'm beating Platinum as I'm writing this for the first time and I played some Second Opinion at midnight because I had no parents and an empty house for a while), but no, as always, I'm unpredictable haha It does help that I've been a great fan of Orion, especially compared to the original series' third season who's always been my sore spot, but I now realize that Tachimukai walked so Nishikage could fly. (which means my cinnamon roll son needs justice, and if I have to make that myself, I will use my craftmanship to do so)
yeah I also didn't expect to write a Nishikage-centric fic but who ever knows with me, I don't even know myself that much. You know the drill, though: first time writing the character, so expect it to be at least a bit OOC until I either delve too deep and don't care or somehow catch myself before I fall. This is so "wow characters sure exist" central. In terms of the timeline, I'd say this story is set after the Asia preliminaries and most likely after the match against Perfect Spark. It's not supposed to be *that* accurate because it's a tiny oneshot, but y'know, gotta try and place your fanfic on what already exists sometimes.
Honestly, it's kind of lame, but I still like most of it?
--------------
Stay Still, Look Strong
Summary: He’s never been the kind to complain.
Fandom: Inazuma Eleven (Orion no Kokuin timeline, contains spoilers) Relationship: Platonic Nishikage & Nosaka (can be read as pre-slash if you want)
Wordcount: 1.8K words
Event hosted by @badthingshappenbingo
AO3 version available here.
----------
He’s never been the kind to complain.
How could he? Anyone bathing so intensely in the light of Nosaka Yuuma has no right to complain: he’s lucky as it is to be his right-hand, to be involved in his plans, to have witnessed how much of a hero Nosaka is. He’ll never forget their first meeting, the evening where he saw a boy his age save a little child from a housefire he’d have never jumped in himself, mesmerized and terrified at the same time of the flames and for the boy who wasn’t scared of them.
Truly, how could he complain, when everyone around him has always been this luminous, even when put through the worse?
It’s not like the current context is going to help either. The world championship is as harsh as he expected it to be, if not worse: Orion disciples are out for the team’s throats, there’s a bunch of business he’s only partially aware of (but he doesn’t mind that Nosaka would rather discuss it with other people, Hiura is a much better strategist than he could ever be) floating over their heads like a threatening nebula, the team can be agitated by personal conflict and incompatible relationships. So, in this context, how could he complain? He’s not the one who’s had suffered from a split identity, from nourishing disappointed hopes to one day reunite with his long-lost parent, from insecurities, from injuries. He’s been fine, he’d always be fine.
Well, scratch that last statement, he supposes.
There are a number of things that quietly tell him that he’s not doing so good as soon as he wakes up. Just the fact that he’s had troubles getting out of bed says a lot about that, but he chooses to ignore it and brush it off as yesterday’s training having dragged on and on to perfect techniques and tactics. His teammates seem vastly unaffected by the fatigue plaguing him, so he assumes it’s just a bad day and also brushes aside the lethargy sticking to his bones.
But the thing is that, when he’d have taken it easy otherwise (but would have still trained: they have no time to lose and too much to do), he’s made the promise to Nosaka to help him with a plan, whether it be an investigation or to help with his genius brainstorming. He can’t go back on this promise because “he feels weird”. That’s just not something he can do because that’d be doing Nosaka disservice, and he doesn’t want to ever do that. That’s just dirty.
It starts softly enough. They’re doing a bit of physical training to gain endurance, strength and speed. He doesn’t let his shortness of breath spill through his well-adjusted façade, or so he thinks at least, because he’s sure at least Nosaka or Ichihoshi has noticed. Nobody says anything, though, so he’s content staying silent and continue on. It helps him hide the scratch in his throat and how weird his voice sounded when he said hello to everyone in the cafeteria this morning.
He’s sure someone has to have also noticed his change of habits, especially when he’s surrounded by geniuses with sharp eyes. Still, just like him, nobody says anything; and it’s better that way, he supposes. It helps him in his mission not to bother anyone about minor issues, at least.
“Minor issues” is a term he regrets having used to describe to his current predicament during the afternoon. If the morning was already somewhat tough to follow, mostly because his teammates are quick and will never slow down as long as the wind of hope blows through their sails, and whomever doesn’t follow with this wind is bound to crash and burn. That’s just how the FFI is, nothing to complain about when everyone participating in it is in similar conditions, tied to pressure from the countries they represent and the teams they play against.
He knows nobody has tricked him into drinking something weird, as it wouldn’t make sense for a teammate to poison him when their only mole, Ichihoshi, has long absolved for his former crimes against them; but he’d have liked to have had an alternative to knowing it may have been a bad idea for him to even get out of his room to begin with. Who’s he kidding, though? It’s never been about him, it’s always been about the team and about helping Nosaka as best as he can, no complaint to be had when he chose this life for himself. No complaint… to be had. Absolutely.
He feels stiff and more than lethargic by this point of the day. The afternoon sun of Russia, shining in the artic summer sky, thumps again his head and he gets dizzier by the step, following diligently after his best friend he’s sworn to serve and help no matter what because Nosaka deserves to shine while he stays in the shadow, pulling some strings on demand. He doesn’t believe himself as someone who should be in the spotlight, not when he’s always been around people who deserve attention more than he does to show their talent and sparkles. He’s destinated to help, that’s it, and there’s nothing else he needs or even should add against or for it.
Still, that doesn’t help him hide everything in anymore. His head is pounding for whatever reason, heat and icy coldness alternate with each other every minute or so (he’s not counted, to be fair), walking takes an amount of effort it should have never siphoned away from his energy. He’s running low on batteries, but he tries his best not to show he has black dots appearing all over his sight as not to bother his friend, not to hinder his plans to bust more of Orion’s shady parts, not to make him think he may not have listened even for a millisecond to his ideas. He’s never sure what to reply back, but he tries his best, because it’s the least he can do. Well, he can usually do, as it’s getting difficult. Retaining a cough in is taking more and more of his focus and he hates that, he should be putting that focus towards more useful things rather than just being efficient on a basic level.
He’s swaying on his feet when Nosaka stops in his tracks. He doesn’t really know in which direction they’re heading anymore, he’s not paid enough attention (staying up takes too much effort), and he almost crashes into him. He starts an apology as quickly as possible, which means when the black dots start vanishing from his sight and when the world stops spinning, but he gets interrupted.
“Let’s go back home, Nishikage,” he tells him with a smirk. “I’m sure the others are waiting for us”.
He doesn’t reply verbally, just nods and follows through, trachea set on fire and moves sluggish. But he cannot complain, he’s gone through with it willingly. He can just pick up after himself, words from his dry throat won’t change much of anything.
They enter their training centre and, right as he can finally theorize on a destination, Nosaka turns around and leads them in the part of the building where they all sleep (its name is escaping his mind, right now), where nobody is around and where his footsteps echo against the pounding of his temples. His breathing is feeble, his skin is clammy against his layers, the chills aren’t subsiding. This is bad, very bad, and he’s not sure if the façade is going to last for long.
Which is why he’s not surprised when he watches Nosaka put his back against the wall near their rooms, arms crossed, and the smirk not leaving. At least, he thinks it’s a smirk? It’s hard to tell.
“That’s an impressive effort you’ve made there, Nishikage,” Nosaka eventually tells him.
“What do you mean…?” His voice is much lower than usual, that’s a giveaway already.
“You know, for someone who wasn’t happy that I hadn’t told him about my illness, you sure didn’t want me to know about yours.”
Ah, he’s busted. He’s always been, to be honest. It still somewhat hurts, though, so he looks aside.
“Don’t make such a face, it’s not a big deal. Just get some rest, next time, instead of pretending like everything’s alright, okay? We wouldn’t want you collapsing on us now, would we?”
Nosaka laughs it off, so he tries to do so too, but he ends up coughing instead.
“I think you’ve gotten the lesson, so,” he gently pushes him towards his room, “you do what you’ve got to do. I only want to see you out for dinner!”
His feet are heavy and his balance still hasn’t come back, but he still has questions burning the tip of his tongue.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to…”
“To do what?”
“…help you in what you wanted us to do.”
“I’d rather have you rest when sick than letting you get that worse for a brainstorming session”, Nosaka’s grin and tone drop at the same time. “I appreciate the concern, but this is going a bit too far.”
“…”
The smile comes back.
“Don’t worry about it, just go rest for a bit. You’ve deserved that. It’s not like you’ll be able to stay on your feet for very long, am I wrong?”
He’s not. He knows that. There’s no way to go against him.
Even so, he still hesitates opening the door in front of Nosaka. It’s most likely stupid, but his consciousness is dimming down and he should just get on with it… He shouldn’t be making a fuss about it, so he quickly opens it anyway and disappears without a word.
Maybe, sometimes, he should speak up, because he was about to cause more trouble than anything. That, in itself, is dirtier than what he was trying to prevent. Talk about a mission failed.
Still, he falls onto the bed in the room, barely bothering taking off his shoes, and hopes he can do something better tomorrow. Today was harsh on him for sure; so there may be room to complain here, even if it’s just to himself because being in this kind of state has never been fun for anyone who’s ever breathed.
That’s when he notices, right before finally passing out, the box and glass put on his bedside table. There’s some amusement to be found to having been found out by more than one person, he realizes. Teammates care out for each other, he should have remembered that; and they’re supposed to trust one another, so next time, he should try being honest about this.

90 Questions, Beauty Edition
Helloooo, I’m starting to jumpstart my blog here. I really miss it, and a few encouraging people from my school have told me to start blogging and posting about what I love which is skincare and makeup. I saw two tags on tumblr and decided to form this 90-question tag. You’re free to take this if you want it, but I’d love to see your own answers!
1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
My first makeup item was most likely a cheap kohl liner that costed me like 20 pesos or something. Bands like Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Greenday, etc. were really famous when I was in elementary school and my best friends started getting into putting heavy black eyeliner... of course, I had to follow!
2. Describe your perfect mascara?
I’ve got straight-ass baby lashes, and I think I’ve found my holy grail: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara! It’s really good and doesn’t smudge on me. The first time I put it on I was aoskdfasdfjhaeuirjhj!!!!!! WOW!!1 Are those really MY lashes! Wow! I put it right before my law school finals and was really happy the whole time because I felt so stinking’ cute with my lashes, lol.
3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?
Full-ass coverage to hide my imperfections. But that’s usually uncomfortable, so when I just have school or stuff, I do like light coverage.
4. Favorite high-end makeup and skincare brands?
For makeup, I have a favorite brand for each item like eyeshadow, lipstick, etc. It’s hard to choose. But I freakin’ love everything that Anastasia Beverly Hills releases. For skincare, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Herbivore Botanicals. Everything seems to work for me and my collection of theirs is growing.
5. What cosmetic and skincare brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?
Boscia. Vinter’s Daughter. Sunday Riley (I keep canceling my orders because I just can’t justify the price tags. Ugh). Laneige. Indie Lee. Chanel. Giorgio Armani. Guerlain. High-end stuff my broke ass can’t ever afford, lmao.
6. Favorite drugstore brand?
Maybe L’Oreal. I love their clay masks and the Miss Manga mascara too much.
7. Do you wear fake lashes?
Yes! But they’re such a hassle, so only when I’m going to some party (or when I’m taking selfies lol)
8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?
I would say lipstick, but the brows really make the face and these days I really can’t leave the house without putting on some dip brow. :( Kilay is life.
9. What is your most cherished beauty product?
I’ve got a lot since I’m finally, finally (after 120312932 trials and errors) finding my own holy grails, but it’s probably Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze. Started my whole “drunken blush” thing going on lately. It also lasts forever even on my oily skin. I put it on in the morning once, and when I went home my mom asked me “why are you so red? are you drunk?” And I just. Yassss.
10. How often do you shop for beauty products?
Too often for someone who’s kind of dirt poor and in law school, tbh. I pick up one or two items every week or two.  But again, as I’m discovering my HGs, I’m trying to cut down on my impulsive buying. (It’s hard.)
11. Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely?
As long as my parents are in a good mood I spend freely... just not excessively!
12. Do you utilize coupons, reward cards and sales when you shop for products?
Of course, I try to. But sometimes I can’t wait to get my hands on a product so I just pick it up already!
13. What type of product do you buy the most of?
Lipsticks. I’ve got way too many. (70-something.)
14. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics and skincare?
Avoid parabens! And sulfates! And weird things like bird poop and horse fat! (I know right?)
15. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?
Yes! Russian’s The Beauty Source in Makati! Super friendly people there. The sad thing is though, it’s all high-end. I mean I do tend to buy high-end stuff but things like La Mer are... phew. Never in a million years.
16. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you stick to a routine?
I love trying new skincare products because my skin is so problematic and I’m always trying to find things that’d work for me.
17. Favorite bath and body brand?
I like The Body Shop, but my favorite scents are from Bath and Body Works.
18. Are you clumsy applying makeup?
I’m clumsy in general. So!
19. What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?
Foundatiooon. Duh.
20. What do you love about makeup?
It’s therapeautic for me, I found out. Like it makes me feel happy and calm whenever I do my makeup. Or even just do a swatch party.
21. Lipstick, Gloss, Lip Stain, Balm, or Lip Liner?
I just discovered Peripera’s Ink Velvet tints, and though they’re a bit drying I love them. So I’ll go with those since they’re the only ones that stay on after I eat and stuff, lol.
22. How do you make your Lipstick / Lip Gloss last longer?
I use lip liner, usually. And to make them last extra long you gotta stop licking your lips!  23. How do you pick a Lip Color that looks good on your skin color?
I tend to not go for super light shades because those wash me out and just don’t look good at all on my skintone.  24. What are some cheap ways to take care of chapped lips? Good ‘ol lip butter and some sugar scrub. Or vaseline.
25. Favorite drugstore lip product? EOS lip balms are nice.
26. Favorite brand name lip product? Kylie Cosmetics (for liquid lipsticks and lip liners), Fenty Beauty (for dat mf gloss bomb!), Peripera (tints)! 27. Do you usually play up or play down your lips? Play down. I love MLBB shades. 28. Eyeliner in Pencil, Gel, or Liquid? Liquid. B-)
29. How do you do a cat eye?
I just... wing it! Honestly. I’ve been putting on fancy eyeliner since I was like 13 so I’ve got the hang of it now. (Still mess up sometimes tho. Blame the shaky hand.) 30. What do you use to remove eye makeup and mascara? Right now I either use Pixi double cleanse, Skininc coconut cleanser water, and Maybelline oil-based makeup remover. The Pixi one works the best but kind of stings my eyes. 31. How do you make your eye makeup last longer? Good eyelid primer! Setting powder!  32. Cream or Powder eye shadow? Powder since I have yet to try any cream eyeshadows. I tried using Glossier’s cloud paint in Dusk on my eyelids once... it was a weird, sticky mess. #nope 33. What tricks can you do to make your eyelashes look longer? If you’ve got baby lashes like me (who am I kidding, even babies have longer lashes than me), just use false lashes lol. 34. How do you brighten up your eyes?
Glitter eyeshadow, inner corner highlight, concealer, nude kohl liner and black as FUCK mascara. Yes.  35. What color(s) go with your eyes?
Warm shades. 36. Favorite drugstore eyeliner?
I don’t use drugstore eyeliner!  37. Favorite drugstore eyeshadow?
I also don’t use drugstore eyeshadow. I’m picky as hell. 38. Favorite drugstore mascara?
L’Oreal Miss Manga voluminous mascara forever. 39. Favorite drugstore eye pallette? Eh, pass.
40. Favorite brand name eyeliner? K-Palette eyeliner! Asia represent!
41. Favorite brand name eyeshadow? Anastasia Beverly Hills for powder eyeshadow, Stila (Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow!) for liquid eyeshadow. 42. Favorite brand name mascara?
Marc Jacobs’ velvet noir saved my life. 43. Favorite brand name palette?
Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour palette helped me lose like 10 pounds. 45. If you can only use one eye makeup product, what would it be?
Mascara, okay. 46. What is the difference between an eye primer and an eye base?
Imo eye primers are more of like the “glue” that holds everything together and an eye base is what goes over the primer as like. The base color. Makes everything bolder, brighter and last longer. 47. Any tips on applying falsies?
Pray. 48. Favorite brand of falsies?
I really love Lilly Lashes but they’re mad expensive (like $30). 49. How do you pick your shade of foundation? Whatever says medium lmao I go with that. I’m shit at picking foundation and concealer shades but I’m usually like a pure beige/medium/warm beige/nude warm vanilla things like that. Yellowy. 50. What's a good foundation for oily skin?
ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLEWEAR FOUNDATION SAVED MY OILY ASS SKIN. 51. What's a good foundation for dry skin? I’m not sure.
52. What's a good foundation for normal skin?
Probably the Fenty Beauty foundation and every other foundation in the world, you lucky ducks. 53. How do you pick a foundation for your skin color? You pick one blindly and hope it’s a match. Hehe. 54. Tinted Moisturizer, BB Cream, or Foundation? Foundation. I love tinted moisturizers in theory but they don't work for me (for some reason the NARS one stings?) and BB creams are TOO white for me. 55. What is a BB Cream? Blemish Balm cream. Also known as the culprit for my ghastly white face in old pictures. Boo.
56. What do you use to apply your Foundation? Either a beauty blender or a foundation brush by Artis, BH Cosmetics or Real Techniques.
57. How can I make my nose look slimmer or straighter?
Contour, boo. 58. Cream, Powder, or Liquid Blush?
LIQUID BLUSH CHANGED THE GAME FOR ME. 59. Favorite foundation?
Estee Lauder doublewear.
60. Favorite concealer? The Tarte Shaptape is real good imo. Not sure if it’s holy grail material but it’s good for what it’s worth. 61. How do you conceal a pimple? I fail at that.
62. How do you conceal dark circles?
First you gotta color correct (I use the LA Girl pro concealer in the orange shade) and then you put on the concealer. Use a beauty blender to blend the orange color corrector first then the concealer.  63. How do you get rid of or lessen dark circles?
If you know the answer to this that doesn’t involve water or sleeping early, please hmu. 64. What is your daily skin care routine? Morning: wash face with my The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur foaming cleanser, tone with witch hazel, put on vitamin c suspension (The Ordinary), then Hyaluronic Acid (also The Ordinary).
Night: remove makeup with the Pixi double cleanse, cleanse with The Face Shop ^ cleanser again, use a mask, tone, put caffeine solution (The Ordinary) under eyes, put hyaluronic acid, then rosehip oil (The Ordinary).
65. What is your weekly skin care routine?
Theta’s it. I use masks like Herbivore’s Blue Tansy as often as needed and advised. 66. How do you prep your face for makeup?
PRAYER.  67. How do you take off your makeup?
Double Cleanse, wipes, and Micellar Water (Garnier). 68. What are some DIY face masks?
Honey + avocado + apple cider + oats.  69. Where can you buy face masks?
I usually purchase mine from The Face Shop, Herbivore Botanicals, L’Oreal and just korean brands. 70. What facial moisturizer do you recommend?
I don’t know. I want to try the Fresh Seaberry oil though. 71. How can I get rid of or shrink my big pores? THAT IS MY CURRENT PROBLEM. :( 72. How do you highlight your face?
I use a good high-end highlighter (my favorite one is from OFRA), wet my brush using MAC Fix+ after dipping it into the highlighter, and bam. Cheekbones, nose bridge, tip of the nose and cupid’s bow. 73. How do you contour your face?
I use either Kat Von D’s contour palette, or Too Faced’s milk chocolate soleil. 74. How often should you clean your makeup brushes? Depends on how much I use ‘em.
75. How do you clean your makeup brushes? I either use some soap + olive oil or the Daiso or Beauty Blender cleansers. 76. What are some inexpensive makeup brushes? BH Cosmetics’ are really nice!
77. Do you prefer matte or shimmer eyeshadows? I used to love matte shadows but now I super love shimmer shadow. 78. Do you prefer matte or dewy skin? Can I have dewy skin that doesn’t look oily, please.
79. Do you prefer matte or shiny lipstick / lipgloss? Matte because it lasts longer. 80. When did you start wearing makeup? Officially started getting really into it when I was like 13. 81. Who taught you to put on makeup? Myself. 82. What is your favorite brand of makeup? Already answered this!
83. What product do you never leave home without? I always have lipstick in my bag, powder be damned.  84. If you only had $50 dollars for makeup and skincare, what would you buy? I’d buy all the shit I have in my Althea cart (all skincare)! 85. Who is your favorite beauty guru on youtube? BRETMAN ROCK. Does he count? 86. How long do you take to get ready in the morning? Like half the day.  87. What online makeup store is your favorite? Sephora! 88. Who are your favorite beauty blogs on tumblr? Temptalia. Does that count? 89. How long should you keep a product? Until it ain’t spoiled, lmao.
90. What product are you hoping to buy next?
Honestly, I really want the Fresh seaberry oil and I’m waiting for it to be in stock again.

New Year New Pine Forest Acrylic Painting
Hi everyone! Happy New Year! We closed the shop for the week between Christmas until just after the new year. I have to tell you, it was pretty amazing. I ate a ton of food. My family and I put together a brand new puzzle, only to discover it was missing one piece at the end (insert mad face here.), and just hung around. I did sneak out one day to the closed shop, to nurture my creative side, and work on a new pine forest acrylic painting.
Even though I love design, sculpture, ceramics, and just plain making stuff, paint has always played a part in all of those.  It's probably why when I got back into creating, I was painting furniture, and  murals. In the very beginning, I was making the most horrible looking mason jars, picture frames, and a few stuffed, felted snowmen ever.
Don't believe me? Here is a picture from one of my first craft shows :
Tumblr media
Well, you gotta start somewhere, right? So, if you are reading this now, and you want to dive into creating something, but are worried its going to be bad… That's ok.  Just start making things. The more you make, the better you get. Remember: we all start at the beginning.
I really love putting paint to canvas, and working in acrylics and gouache. One of my main goals for this year is to dive back into canvas work, and start offering my paintings for sale again in the shop.
Tumblr media
I decided to paint my pine forest acrylic painting over a simple picture I did for my holiday housewalk over my faux mantel. It was such a big canvas, I thought it was better to reuse it, rather than buy a new one.
Tumblr media
I started by adding a layer of white acrylic paint over the top of the old painting. The hardest part is waiting for it to dry, so I can add more paint!
Tumblr media
After I did a cover coat on the old painting, I did a quick layout painting over the top in my colors. I wanted to get my valley, and my tree positioning correct.  I know there is a whole rule of thirds, but as someone who was never formally trained in art, I just kind of go with what is pleasing to the eye for me. I I decided I wanted to use shades of black, green, blues and grays for my canvas to give it a wintery feel.
I used DecoArt Premium Acrylic Art paints for my canvas, but this is not a sponsored post.
Tumblr media
After I did my initial layout, I added my pine trees using under-painting. It's a technique I use a lot. I like how it gives me a good, dark base to lay my lighter colors over. I feel like it enriches the colors painted over the top. This works well in acrylics, but not so much in other mediums like watercolor, or gouache. I don't work in oil paint, so I am not sure if it's used in that kind of painting at all. Maybe some of you more versed in oils would know?
Tumblr media
I added snowy branches by using a round brush, touching the tip fill of white paint, and adding gentle pressure downwards. After the snow, I added some simple shading to the bottom of the trees.
Tumblr media
I have a tutorial in this post on how to paint a winter scene, which includes a basic pine tree. You can also see how to paint a birch tree here, and an agate pattern here.
Tumblr media
Once it was dry, I added it to my winter mantel decor. I kept my deer up, and my felt garland from Anthropologie, and added a few birch logs and candles.
Tumblr media
The snowy canvas looks nice above our faux fireplace. It gave me such joy to take the time to really create! I hope to have a pillow or two of it available in the shop soon,  I just need to photograph it with my big girl camera, so I get a good resolution for prints!
