An introduction!! 💖

Welcome to my blog!! I know this is my 3rd intro but hush hushy hushy

I am Seven, and I use both she/her and he/him pronouns (with no preference)!!

I am both bisexual and bigender, but am still figuring myself out (since I may also be somewhere on the aroace spectrums)

I am a minor (but I am not actually seven, Seven's just my online nickname it's not my age), so don't be inappropriate. please. (not saying nobody can be nsfw anywhere, just please not directed at me)

its funny playing twitter when half of your life is on tumblr cus i be abusing quote tweet like reblog ajsjfks

i mean, i have a hypothesis (or two) of why tumblr feels "safer" than twitter. the sense of ownership (of your blog) and the base interaction feature. on twitter, its main culture is really.... "tweeting", yapping. because the characters are limited to 140 and your dashboard isnt built like a gallery.

and your profile is your only "personal" space. so not all of the "yap" out there is worth your personal space. hence people don't use quote tweet unless the yap, represents them. unfortunately, my other hypothesis is, since the main (more visible and more accessible) interaction is "to reply", people easily treat other people's post like "it's also their business". so, when people comment on your shit it feels like an intruder just barges in your house and criticizes your 5 yo doodle. which is, rude.

my other, other hypothesis is that culture nurtures people to think that they can intrude in order to be "seen". so instead of making a valuable or unique something (except artists) to themselves, they just make everybody's tweet their business. AND to worsen it, the algorithm pushes random "based on your like" tweets to your face. it feels enabling to me, despite the fact that to reply or not is really in your control, to comment, correct, agree and disagree.

meanwhile, on tumblr, your blog = your home. you can decorate your wall however you like, as if hanging your drawing on your own bedroom wall. it's no art gallery, you dont need to be gogh-qualified to post here. you are your own curator.

the way old tumblr navigated the audience to your blog was through reblog. tho, there were a lot of fun yappings too that became a legendary serial reblogs, old tumblr didnt use algorithms that would randomly shoved random stuff to your face. it's from your mutuals and your mutuals are "your" like-minded people most of the time and that post is really, curated to your likings. and old tumblr made you click on their url to see their house, their own "og" post with og tags so you can analyze what kind of people they are, whether they'll vibe with you or not, and so should you follow them or not.

it seems like the sense of ownership is more blurred on twitter than tumblr and one factor that affects that is the main interaction feature. the way people interact here builds a certain culture that focuses more on "inviting people to your house" than "walking senselessly into someone else's house".

although, the reply function and behavior on tumblr requires to be studied separately and thoroughly (what kind of post gains more "commenting" traction, who usually uses this features, what kind of interaction happens in this section, etc). similar with quote tweet on twitter needs to be studied as well: how do people use it, what kind of post that people usually publish using that function, how does that affect the non mutual interaction, etc.

Hi, my name is Brooke. I am a 24 year old autistic, adhd trans and pansexual guy and also disabled, so a lot of my writing will involve stuff like that. I am a multi fandom dude and love everything from twilight to horror movies like scream and five nights at Freddy’s.

Once I get this blog rolling, I will gladly take requests for the fandoms I write for, but be warned that unless you request specific gender, I will mostly be writing trans male reader oriented things because I myself have the most experience with that.

okay i have to bite so what’s your issues w zdarskys daredevil run??? because honestly i thought it was ehhhhh and felt like he was more into the show than the previous set up comics canon & also whatever he did with elektra was shit but i don’t know what he did to warrant the genuine hatred you seem to have of him?????? and i’m actually curious i’ve searched zdarsky on your blog and read most of the posts but i’m still not like. 100% sure?????

I've had an anon ask me basically this same question so I'll just link the answer I had earlier for a speedrun 'Anti Chip Zdarsky' is a tag I have on my blog of me talking about why I hate the run and also reblogging posts from my mutuals since we all share the same hatred and disdain for it. The TL;DR is that Zdarsky is a lazy writer that tried to be creative with DD only to take aspects of the netflix show (that I hate) and would bring back storylines from previous runs only to rehash them to be worse than than the og while taking the worse aspects of them and turning it up to 11, ableism, sexual assault, white-washing/racism, you name it, it's all there. He writes no different than any m/cu dd fan that never watched the show and would write terrible ableist fanfics with only fanon knowledge. He is one of the writers that set the unfortunate character trait of Matt being some yapping catholic with a crusader colonizer complex and it was just overall bad writing. Elektra was not the only one that got dealt with shit writing, Kirsten got it too. And basically everyone else. Unfortunately, this run is praised by people on twitter so it feels like ranting to a bunch of brick walls, but a lot of dd comic fans here have the same hatred for zdarsky and his run as I do.

I thought the Rt Zine account being marked NSFW was just a glitch on my end? I think maybe people report it cus it has a default icon so that's why it's flagged.

ok so heres the thing. literally when i went to change the profile picture and header from the default images (before launch) IT FLAGGED THE BLOG AS EXPLICIT? and so I put in a review request and they quickly fixed it within 10 mins

but then on LAUNCH DAY when I went to post a link for readers to be able to see the zine. entire blog got flagged AGAIN !! i have since put in 3 requests to fix it but st*ff still hasn't fixed it yet

so i dont think people are reporting it per se, I think t*mblr thinks a link to a 3rd party site (posted by a relatively new blog) is to a p*rn site. tbh I cant really "act human" (ie: like, reblog, and follow people) on that blog anyway bc most of the artists and writers of DWD are not tumblr users and id like to keep it within the sphere of who participated since it is the zine acct, if that makes sense

well yeah. because its annoying when people have conversations under your post about a whole different thing. like make your own post and piss off. i was GONNA reblog the people and tell them to knock it off but i wanted to be NICE and just hope they got the message by reading my other post about it. you all wouldn't be able to handle me if i really bit people's heads off for making me uncomfortable. which im within my rights to do, anyway. people need to grow some fucking balls around here and stop expecting the people running these blogs to be peachy fucking rainbows of human beings. im just gonna start telling people to touch some fucking grass since so many people think me trying to settle things quietly is 'rude.'

like do you know how juvenile and weird it is to expect customer service like politeness from tumblr users. TUMBLR SMUT WRITERS??? if someone makes me uncomfortable i am allowed to be passive aggressive about it and if it hurts someone's feelings they can deal with or make their own post i dont fucking know but acting like this is high-school and i owe literally ANYONE anything is actually showing a severe lack of awareness. people need to know what boundaries are and stop taking tumblr so fucking seriously.

anyone find it almost weird that tumblr was /the/ place before. like there's been people here who got popular from their tumblr but eventually moved to other platforms. this was like 2010-2012 era ;-; do you know what im talking abt? i believe u mentioned u been on here for along time. i was just reminded bc i was listening to a recent nas album & got hyped he mentioned tumblr lmao i was like it me! but i think he was more addressing the old tumblr cus nobody comes on here to post photos of themselves like that anymore lol

i’ve been using this site since 2009 lmao. people on here have shared their LIVES with their respective fandom communities. i remember celebrating with my followers (on main) when i graduated high school and i’m turning 30 next year so like…yeah i remember all of that 😅 when you could refresh your dash and over 100 new posts will have happened in only a couple minutes. when reblogs always, always surpassed likes by the thousands. when the gif limit was 500kb and when they first introduced photosets. when certain aesthetic blog owners were literally famous and their selfies garnered hundreds of notes. what a time 👵🏻

The Weasley family wasn't particularly known for keeping secrets very well. If someone had a big secret it would probably would be out to the whole family by next week.

That's why, when George sees that his brother, Percy (Percy!!), had several tattoos, he almost immediately told the whole family.

It had happened 10 years after the war(how had he kept a secret that long?), George had his bad days (his twin had died, so obviously), but luckily this day had been pretty good.

He had gone to the bathroom and, since one of his ears had been destroyed, he didn't here the shower on. When he walked in he saw Percy in the shower completely naked, with some tattoos.

Wait, George thought. Tattoos?

He didn't have time for another thought when-

"George!" Percy shrieked, he grabbed the curtain and yanked it close. "What are you doing? Get out! I'm showering!"

George stood there for a few more seconds and then, "Sorry couldn't hear the shower. You know."

His voice came from behind the curtain, "I really don't care. Can you get out and not tell anyone about this?"

"Um- yeah sure, whatever," George said, not really paying attention to what he was saying, and backed out of the room and closed the door.

So, George thought, Percy has a tattoo. Huh, looks like all of the Weasley siblings are disappointments.

It wasn't a secret that Molly was a firm believer of "tattoos and piercings are bad!" It also wasn't a secret that all of the Weasley children had both of those things. Besides Percy, at least. Well, that's what they thought. Apparently he had tattoos as well!

He walked back to the living room. All of the Weasley siblings were there(besides Percy, of course). It was a " Weasley siblings reunion! No partners or children or parents aloud!" The rest of the family would hang out on their own and then come back to The Burrow at dinner.

"You look like you saw a ghost," Bill said with an amused tone of voice.

George rubbed his neck, "I-uh, saw Percy in the shower."

Ginny scoffed, "That's it? Pathetic!"

"No, no, you don't understand!" He leaned in and whispered, "he has tattoos!"

"Really?" Ron said in disbelief. "Are you sure you didn't, I don't know- missee(is that a word?) Something?"

He scoffed, "I may only have one ear, but I'm not blind!"

Suddenly, Percy walked into the room and everyone went oddly quiet.

"What are we talking about?" He asked with a smile.

"Nothing!" Charlie squeaked. "No secrets or anything like that!"

He sighed, "I'm not an idiot. Did George tell you about my tattoos?"

Everyone looked at each other and then nodded.

"Do not tell mum or dad, okay?"

Again, everyone nodded.

"So..." Ginny said. "Can we see them?"

hello again beloved tumblr friends in my phone i am still absolutely physically and mentally exhausted this week and do not have much to offer or share of substance for my lil blog here but i needed to hop on and say that lately i've been using this site called Watchlist Picker to help me decide on watching a movie before i go to bed at night (the watchlist it picks from is whatever Letterboxd profile u have it search thru so i've been having it pick stuff from my profile's watchlist obvs since i have like 1000+ stuff on there and i am so so so very indecisive)

anyways i usually re-roll it one or two times 'cause lately i have been so low on energy that i cant get myself to pick up my laptop and do a brief google search to see if the movie the site picks is on any streaming things or just find it on my......Definitely Legit Alternate Streaming Sites I Use To Watch Things.........so i let the site do its thing and then go on letterboxd for a min and see if the movie listing on there mentions it being on one of the few streaming places i have apps for on my phone since thats much faster and more accessible, and last night it picked a movie called Psycho Goreman thats on Shudder (i lov Shudder btw out of every stupid streaming platform there is it is the only one i would actively recommended to other ppl cus its all horror or horror/thriller/suspense/horror adjacent etc etc and its the cheapest one too with the best selection imo ✌️)

and i just. i have to tell everyone i know anout this movie ok. again it is called Psycho Goreman and i am not even slightly joking its one of the best movies i have ever seen in my life so far, its so fucking funny genuinely and very much lives up to its title name and its not too short or too long either, it was an absolute blast to watch and made me tear up laughing multiple times and the main kid actors (aside from the title character who is also incredible) are actually great actors with hilarious comedic timing abilities, especially the main girl character Mimi shes so good. this is just me rambling abt a movie theres no point to this post i just need everyone who likes stupid weird funny gorey comedy/horror stuff like i do to watch this if u havent already it is so worth the hour and a half. its also very visibly an independent production (its a Shudder exclusive i believe) which it is very self aware of and it uses that to its advantage for the comedic factor but is also just a joy to watch because you can really visually see the passion that went into every practical cosplay-esque character design and costume and the style is very much an homage to corny cult classic horror and sci-fi stuff of the 80s-90s while still successfully blending a lot of modern digital fx/cgi (and some traditional stop-motion claymation too!!! i thought that was awesome) and it is just. its awesome and i felt like a lot of you who follow me on here more for my horror related stuff i reblog/post would probably enjoy it too so! def watch it if u get a chance its wonderful. ok that is all goodbye for now love u all stay safe xoxo

Finally done with my first Hobby Scuffle! It’s not a full Drama because I was involved, and it’s not History because it’s been happening on an off for five years now. A special thanks to u/nissincupramen, u/ailathan, and u/Dlight98 for showing interest and giving advice!

(Disclaimer: All profiles linked were public at the time of posting. Please don’t harass anyone involved, they probably don’t remember said involvement anyway.)

[Literature] Dog Man Comix: How a children’s book page fooled the Internet

Dav Pilkey has been making children’s books since 1987, and has earned nearly every award the career can offer (Caldecott, NYT Best Seller List, getting banned for trivial reasons). Captain Underpants, his biggest claim to fame, is informed by his experience of growing up with ADHD and dyslexia in a less-than-accommodating school system. (He’s been very open about this during school visits and interviews—here’s a transcript of one.)

His cheeky commentary on the issue has garnered a following of kids and adults with similar struggles. Sometimes pages from his books will circulate online, causing insightful discussion and laughs aplenty along the way.

And sometimes, they lead to Wil Wheaton (and many, many others) cheering for a kid that doesn’t exist.

But before I can tell you that story, I have to tell you this story…

Chapter 1: Background and Original Post

On March 22nd, 2017, DreamWorks dropped a trailer for Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Millennials worldwide exclaimed “Woah, I loved these books and I love how faithful this is to their tone and art style!” Then, “Woah, this series is even better than I remember!” and “Dav wrote 4 more CU books after I grew out of them, and their commentary on how American schooling fails neurodivergent kids is sharper than ever!”

I took part in this moment in history, and it was awesome. It was also the catalyst for the biggest mistake of my life.

20 days later, I saw some of Dav’s more recent outings in a bookstore and read them out of curiosity. One of them was Dog Man, a graphic novel spin-off penned by George and Harold, the young protagonists of Captain Underpants.

The first book (and only the first, for some reason) contains in-universe documents from the boys’ kindergarten days, when they first made comics together. My favorite of these was a refocus form Harold was punished with for copying said comics with a teacher’s printer.

“How will my behavior change in the future?: [sic] be more Quieter When making copies of Dog Man Comix in office.

I am ready to re-join the classroom.: No

Why?: Too busy making Dog Man comix”

I thought it was hilarious. So hilarious, in fact, that I had to share it with the growing CU community. So I took a photo and posted it to Tumblr.

Chapter 2: Initial Spread ft. Wil Wheaton

I don’t know how or when the post escaped the CU fandom. My best guess is that someone with way more followers reblogged it without the tags, and thus without the context. All I know is that one day in early May, my phone wouldn’t stop buzzing.

When I checked it, The Post was getting more notes at a faster rate than my blog had ever known before or since. I was delighted to finally be “Tumblr famous”… until I read the comments and tags. Turns out, people thought my photo was of a real form, written by a real kid.

Maybe if I’d edited The Post’s main body and added the context, its spread would’ve stopped then and there. Instead, I commented on it in a way people were guaranteed not to notice and left to do something else.

It hit 3k later that day. The next, it reached 7k. This is when the floodgates truly opened, and I learned the true magnitude of my mistake.

Day in and day out, people were asking where they could find these “Dog Man comix”. Others cheered Harold on for fighting the system, promising to support his future career. I got DM’d under the pretense that I was Harold’s mother.

And if you’re thinking “surely somebody here grew up with Dav’s books and recognized Harold,” you’re correct! Lots of these commenters either deduced Dav’s involvement or found out through Google. (More than one accused me of fooling everyone on purpose.) But for every one of those comments, there were ten more that were oblivious. Even better, some came close but fell just short (i.e. “isn’t this how Dav Pilkey started out lol”; “Someone needs to get this in front of Dav Pilkey stat”). These ones were so funny and frustrating all at once that they’re my favorites to this day.

So why did so many people think the form was real? I’ve had lots of time to ponder this, and I’ve boiled it down to these factors:

People who grew up with CU won’t necessarily know about Dog Man. The eighth and ninth CU books came out six years apart: more than enough time for young readers to grow out of the series or even forget its existence. I know I did before the Movie was announced. Even post-announcement, not everyone hyped for it was guaranteed to look up what Dav’s been up to.

The elements that mark this as something from CU are obscured just enough to pass detection. Harold Hutchins’ fictionality can be confirmed with a Google search, but his last name is initialized on the form. Every teacher in the series has a punny name, but Ms. Construde’s is misspelled here in a way that obscures this. (Not to mention she didn’t appear in the main series, and “misconstrued” isn’t a common word anyway.) Harold’s sketch of Dog Man himself is hard to make out under Construde’s notes.

The book’s pages were shiny, which should’ve been a dead giveaway (nobody laminates refocus forms, AFAIK). However, I took the photo in a dimly-lit bookstore at an angle that minimized the shine to the bottom-right corner.

Finally, refocus forms were kinda upsetting as a kid. Getting your drawings written over in angry red ink was scary, too. I got yelled at more than once for doodling on my notes, and a LOT of people commented with similar stories. Honestly, it’s easy to choose not to research something if its message hooks you in at first sight.

As for how everyone overlooked the red background or the improbability of a kindergartener using a printer… yeah, I got nothin’.

Now, I will admit to leading a few people on, hoping they’d look up the names and realize their error. (Not sure if that ever worked.) But for the most part, I explained things to anyone who asked to see more of Harold’s comix—sometimes in my own words, sometimes with just a photo of the book’s cover. I made a specific tag for these responses and related posts, which is how I’m able to cite so many old comments and accurately track The Post’s growth. (You can read it in chronological order here, if you dare.)

But by then, new comments were coming in so fast that I had no hope of replying to them all. At some point I resigned to simply changing my blog’s description whenever The Post flared up and hoping people would check it. I don’t remember what it said, but I have record of it working exactly once.

Anyway, Wil Wheaton reblogged The Post that September and commented, “Stay strong, Harold.” It had a sizable spike in activity right after, but I didn’t know it was due to him (or even who he was) until a friend alerted me.

By winter, I’d developed a routine. Check The Post. Pray it wouldn’t flare up again. Freak out whenever it did. Change my blog description, maybe pin an explanatory post. Reply to some angry and sad comments, reblog some funny ones. Wait for things to calm down and return to Step 1. The guilt was killing me. I had to come clean with what I’d done, and all the confusion and upset it had caused.

And when you’re dying to confess your sins, you might as well head to the very top.

Chapter 3: Coming Clean

Snail mail aside, there’s only one way to reach Dav Pilkey and reasonably expect a response: his Instagram. He’s on hiatus at the time of writing, but when the Movie came out, he liked and commented on nearly everything tagged as #captainunderpants. He even filled in minor details about his characters when asked, like their birthdays and middle names, as chronicled here.

No one knew how long this direct line to God would stay open. (He kept going for 3 years, but semantics.) And so, on Christmas Day, I explained myself to him in this admittedly badly formatted post.

He responded that same night. (Here’s me freaking out about it.)

“This is pretty amazing! Would it be okay if we reposted it?”

“@petey_haw_haw Absolutely! Thank you Mr. Pilkey!!”

Nothing ever came of that, AFAIK. Maybe he spoke before consulting his literary agent or something. No hard feelings, though—I’m still just glad he was so chill about it!

The holidays ended on a high note for me that year. Now that the man himself (and maybe his higher-ups at Scholastic) knew about The Post, I thought, maybe the relevant info will get bumped a little higher in Google, and less people will fall for it. Maybe it would even stop spreading altogether!

Chapter 4: To Make A Long Story Short

It didn’t.

Chapter 5: Further Spread

Before we get to The Post’s biggest break, let’s backtrack to a few months earlier. While I was watching the original Tumblr post like a hawk, the photo itself snuck away to infect more websites. First Facebook, then r/pics, Imgur, and…someone’s personal blog, I think? (Sorry for the tiny screencaps, I swear they were bigger when I took them five years ago. Also the ads for Dog Man books in the rightmost photo still kills me.)

Fun fact: I became a Redditor to comment on the photo whenever it got posted here. Besides r/pics (here), it’s popped up on r/me_irl (here), r/funny (here), and… a certain political sub that has since been quarantined and thus can’t be linked to. IIRC, I naively asked that last one to take it down because Scholastic might raise offense. In hindsight, I might’ve dodged a bullet there.

But the worst outbreak was still yet to come…

April 24th, 2021. I was at my day job. When my lunch break rolled around, I checked Twitter and saw that Dog Man was trending.

First I assumed it was about the Michigan cryptid. Then I hoped to God that Dav’s next book was just enjoying a stronger ad campaign than usual. Anything, anything but my photo.

Yeah, it was my photo. Cropped and straightened, but still unmistakably mine. This time it was posted by a family physician with military experience.

I tweeted at him offering to explain things and prove that I was the OP. He never replied. The Tweet itself lost steam less than a day later—possibly due to people’s kids setting the record straight—but not before amassing 18,000+ retweets, 3,500+ QRT’s, and 132,000+ likes. I was terrified the whole time.

This person declared it as “maybe the pinnacle of twitter,” though. I can boast that, at least.

Chapter 6: Conclusion and The Foreseeable Future

The Post hasn’t seen any major activity since April of last year, on Tumblr or elsewhere. Perhaps it’s finally fading into obscurity like it should have long ago.

Speaking of long ago, a recent Tumblr update has made tags and reblogs from 5+ years ago nigh-unviewable. As hard as it was to keep up with them at The Post’s peak, I’m glad I reblogged and screencapped so many when I could.

For all my complaining about The Post ruining my life, I do respect how the response it got exemplified what Dav’s works are about. Many of the people who shared their own school stories added that they were neurodivergent. I’m autistic myself, and school was a constant struggle all the way up to college. I waxed lyrical once that Dav’s jokes about school, “[…] albeit being exaggerated to the point of hilarity, [are] still hauntingly accurate and can strike a chord with readers even long after they’ve outgrown its age demographic”. Seeing that in action for five years straight felt like a curse most days, but if it made any of those commenters feel the slightest bit less alone, I’m willing to call it a blessing.

That being said, I’m still paranoid that said commenters might get wise and hunt me down for fooling them. Specifically in the next few years, because DreamWorks is working on a Dog Man movie. If this account ever goes dark, now you know why.

In the meantime, I shall continue to explain The Post wherever it pops up and contain the beast I unleashed… however in vain that may be.

TL;DR: Author writes school form from Kid’s POV. I post form without enough context. Hundreds of thousands get upset on Kid’s behalf.

Twitter | CounterSocial | Mastodon Feature Comparison

Here are some of my observations of feature comparisons between Twitter, CounterSocial and Mastadon. I've been using Twitter for more than a decade, CounterSocial since late April 2022 and Mastodon via Universodon for only a few days.

This is only a brief overview of what each site has to offer. It's some of the basics and features I find the most useful. Your experience may vary. My explanations are below.

A NOTE ABOUT MASTODON

Mastodon is a network of social networks that are interconnected. You have to choose an instance (or server) to get started. You can change your server, but your posts won't follow you. Whether or not your followers move with you depends on their server's software supports move activity.

There is also a very heavy cooldown period in which you cannot migrate again, so be very careful before using this option!

ADVANCED WEB LAYOUT

If you're looking for a column based feed, you'll need to use a third party website or app if you're a Twitter user. CounterSocial (herein referred to as CoSo) enables the Advanced Web Layout by default and Mastodon allows you to enable it optionally in your profile/settings.

ALT TEXT REMINDER

Twitter is the only platform that will remind you if you haven't entered ALT text on an image before you submit your post. Both CoSo and Mastadon have gentle overlays if you hover over the image once you've attached it to your draft, but beyond that I'm unsure. Mastadon claims to have a reminder to add ALT text (at least within the Universeodon instance). I have not uploaded any images to Mastadon yet, so time will tell.

AUTO-DELETE POSTS

Only Mastadon gives you the ability to auto-delete your posts after a certain time period for free. CoSo does have limited functionality for direct messages that you have to opt-in to. Pro (paid) subscribers can use the exploding post option on a per post or "set as default" basis.

BOOKMARKS

Twitter has bookmarks, but I often forget they exist. There is a link to view bookmarks in one place, but it just doesn't engage me. CoSo does not have bookmarks, however I believe it's a feature they could possibly implement since they appear to be running on Mastodon's OpenSource software and Mastodon, does indeed have bookmarks. My bookmarks have their own column for visbility.

CHARACTER LIMIT

Both CoSo and Mastadon beat Twitter's 280 character limit allowing 500 characters each.

CONTENT WARNINGS

While Twitter only has content warnings integrated for images, CoSo allows you only to mark the entire post with a content warning, wheeas Mastodon allows you to mark either the image, the post or both.

FILTERS

Twitter has muted words, etc. They're buried deep in your profile. Both CoSo and Mastodon have links to muted users, blocked users, hidden domains and muted words on the three dots menu next to your profile image.

GLOBAL POST VISIBILITY

Post visibility has a lot to do with how many users are on the platform, but these three are all very unique.

As far as Twitter goes, you see who you follow, what you might like, what the accounts you're following like, reweets, trending, etc., but discoverability is limited. Hashtags (tags) are a free-for-all (though nowhere near off the chain as Tumblr), so any custom hashtag can be used (without spaces, sorry Tumblr).

I believe CoSo sets themselves apart in this arena the most because they set up curated tags that help customize your space, find others with similar interests and share with others like you. Again, no spaces here. There's also the community firehose with posts from all of CoSo. You still have who you follow in your main feed and what they repost as well, not what they like, not what you might like and all that jazz. YOU curate your space.

Mastodon is a bit trickier. You have to join an instance (or a unique server), then you have a feed for who you follow and their reposts, then you have your server's posts, then there are posts from ALL the servers using Mastadon. In minutes you can have thousands of posts come through the feed. It can be too much. Again, not what other folks like (favorite), what you might like and all that jazz. You do curate your space, but you might either have fear of missing out (FOMO) or be overwhelmed in a sea of posts.

GROUPS

Groups are a paid feature only available on CoSo at this time. However, one might consider the instance (server) you join on Mastodon as a group depending on its specialization.

MOBILE APPS

All have both Android and iOS apps. Twitter's mobile app seems to be the most comparable to its web app, however if you're a content creator with a business/professional account, some features can't be accessed, such as overall analytics.

You won't get the advanced web layout with any.

A One Woman Show to Request Jewish Cultural Representation in The Sims 4

Maybe some others have requested Jewish cultural representation in The Sims 4, but none like Hufflepom. Hufflepom is a respected simmer in The Sims community, so much so that many have been working to elevate her voice on Twitter specifically.

Today marks the 282nd day she has tweeted and tagged The Sims on Twitter asking for MORE Jewish cultural representation in game.

Don't get me wrong, The Sims has a long way to go to represent many cultures, but the pleas for other equally deserving groups have been just that, in a group, at least as far as I've seen.

I, myself, EMBARRASINGLY, saw (many of) 262 tweets from Hufflepom and did NOTHING. Then finally on October 27th, 2022 I retweeted.

Then there was this. HufflePom replied to a tweet that PINK posted. I had no idea PINK had a Jewish cultural background. The tweet Hufflepom replied to is after the below image. Throughout the process, I'm actually learning a lot.
