[image ID: two page digital comic of an an alternate version of the unknowing from the Magnus archives. First page is a full page drawing featuring Sasha, Tim, Jon, Basira and Daisy from the Magnus archives. The colours are bright and stylized. Sasha stands under a spotlight, posed like a mannequin with string sewn into her clothes and wrapped around her fingers. Her outfit has clownlike touches- a diamond pattern on her shirt a jester's collar. She has worm scars and a single tear rolls down her cheek. The remaining four characters look at her, silhouetted. Jon says "Tim..."
Page two shows a panel of Jon and Tim looking at each other. The background is red now, and the colours are more realistic. Jon says "Tim, does she...does she seem familiar?". Tim replies "I...I don't know. Maybe? I don't like this Jon". The next panel is daisy and Basira looking at us. Basira says "guys? Something you want to tell us?". Next panel shows breekon and hope entering, looking behind a terrified Jon. In sync, they trade lines of the following dialogue: breekon: "such a shame really". Hope: "tragic". Breekon: "after everything the poor lass has been through. Lost her life in the outside world". Hope: "lost her place in people's memories". Breekon: "bout to loose her skin in the dance". Final panel continues the dialogue while showing us tim and Jon, who have horrified expressions on their faces. Hope finally says "and you cant even recognize your dear old Sasha". End ID]
(Click for quality) OKAY one last thing for @red-string-retrospective-week that I did for the prompt "memory", based on the fact that I thought Sasha was gonna come back for an embarrassingly long amount of time (like. Up until s4). This is set at the unknowing!

Announcing: Red String Retrospective Week!
“What if it wasn’t the Web all along? What if Agnes was still alive? What if you could bring your favorite debunked theories back to life?
In this event, we’re digging back to the red stringing and creativity of old that took their own paths from the story that took place in canon!

“I’m not sure you would have liked him, you know. He’s paranoid enough. But I don’t think he’s got the stomach for it.”
Gertrude as an old lady with sensible shoes, warm gloves, and the brain of a spymaster. John as a scrawny academic out of his depth. Kind of a late submission to the #redstringweek. The prompt and Leitner made me do it.

[image ID: a 3 page digital comic of an alternate version of MAG 197.
Page 1: first panel is divided in two- one side shows an angry Jon and Basira, looking at Annabelle. Annabelle looks back, relaxed- her eyes red and her fangs bared. Martin is encased in web behind her. Next three panels are close-ups on Annabelle. She says "Well well, archivist. We meet again!". From behind her, a blue light grows stronger. Annabelle: "I'd stay right there if I were you-" she's interupted by an off-panel voice that says "cane...". She turns to face the source, eyes and mouth returning to normal. Annabelle: "wha-" the rest of the page shows the flaming ghost of Agnes Montague, as she says "ANNABELLE CANE". In the foreground, Jon and Basira look on, Basira saying "Jon?".
Page 2: we see Jon and Basira's bewildered faces. Basira: "mind telling me what's going on?" Jon: "it...it can't be-" Annabelle interrupts, annoyed: "it is. Agnes Montague. We've...met before". Next panel shows an exchange between the ghostly Agnes and Annabelle. Agnes: "an ironic fate, I suppose. Tethered in death to the place I scorned and destroyed in life." Annabelle: "how many times do we have to go over this? your time has passed, "messiah". Leave us". Agnes: "content with your title as the web's favoured stooge then, are we? I thought I was a martyr back in my day too. Self effacing in my goal. A God amongst men. But I wasn't a god. And it wasn't my goal. I never really got to have one of those. Perhaps if I "put my back in" as the saying goes, but...I don't think this is your goal either Annabelle. I can't see what you gain, after all". We close in on Annabelle's face. She says "what I gain is second to what my patron gains. I don't have a choice in the matter. None of us do". Agnes replies: "maybe. Maybe it's easier to convince ourselves that, rather than being solely powerless in a world of people able to change their fates where we are not, we're in a sea of other powerless people. I've watched you, Annabelle cane. Cutting and mending magnetic tape, choosing to make not just a narrative, but a story. You tell this story, a story that isn't even your own by all accounts, just how you want it to be told. It's novel to you. Like black coffee with room for milk."
Final page shows a purple web being burnt up by blue flame. In the centre, text in Agnes' ghostly font reads: So tell me Annabelle. How does the story end?". End ID]
Hello, as someone who was both on the "here's how Agnes can still win" and the "here's how sympathetic Annabelle can still win" train, I decided that for the prompts "fire" and "ghost" I would smash them together w/ this <3 (click for quality)

Red String Retrospective About / FAQ
What is Red String Retrospective Week?
Red String Retrospective Week is an event created by and for fans of the Magnus Archives to encourage the creation of fanworks that stray from the canon lore of the podcast through debunked theories, no longer relevant speculation and anything else you might think of! The event will run from October 4th to 10th and will promote all headcanons, writing, and art you create.
Three different prompts will be provided for each day of the event. You don’t have to stick to the prompts - they’re there as inspiration. If you have an idea and none of the prompts are calling to you, go for it! Any and all content is encouraged.
When is Red String Retrospective Week?
The event will run from October 4th to October 10th, 2021.
Alright, But What Is This Event About?
This event is meant to explore the theories, speculation, and headcanons that were later disproved, or take a different direction than canon. (For example: the tapes are [X], Web!Martin, speculation about the rituals of other entities, ect.)
This goes a bit beyond typical canon divergence, as even those fanworks tend to take the canon of their time as fact. (Eg: The Apocalypse being split into domains, the Rituals not working, Smirke’s 14/15 being the correct Fear Taxonomy, or other parallels to canon.)
Note that this doesn't only apply to theories with a lot of traction. If you have a personal pet theory that you'd like to create for, feel free! These theories can be from any point in the podcast, even the penultimate episode. Anything goes, so long as it's not canon!
Essentially, imagine you were transported back in time to when the show was still airing or you were still in the middle of listening to the podcast and think of what kind of fanworks you would make then!
What Are The Prompts?
Tapes / Fate / Camera
Scar / Control / Crown
Sacrifice / Extinction / Becoming
Friend / Fire / Ghost
Memory / Predecessor / Nightmare
Worship / Erase / Nature
Archivist / Bind / Hope
Do I Have To Stick To The Prompts?
Nope! The prompts are only meant to inspire you to create, and you are in no way required to use any of them.
What Can I Contribute?
Any type of works are welcome: fanfiction, art, podfic, cosplay, crafts, moodboards, playlists, or anything else you can think of!
However, we do have a number of rules for the event:
To help readers find the content they’re looking for and to ensure the well-being of those enjoying the event, please also include the appropriate information in the tags and/or in the body of the post, including (but not limited to!) whether or not your work is NSFW or if any content warnings apply (even canon-typical warnings).  Also note that if you’re posting on tumblr, explicit content must be placed under a cut/read more.
Please don’t submit NSFW works if you’re a minor! This is purely for mod comfort.
Works or behavior that promote or display racist, queerphobic, ableist, misogynistic, or otherwise bigoted tropes, themes, language, or other content will not be tolerated, and will be rejected from this event.  For example: A work that includes ableism as part of a character’s experience is allowed, so long as said ableism is warned for; a work that includes ableist tropes as part of the narrative is not.
While this event is about canon-divergence for the direction of the show, we ask that canon sexual/romantic identities not be erased. This includes canon aspec, mspec and queer representation.
How Do I Submit Work Or Questions?
You can post on Tumblr and/or Ao3:
For Tumblr, submit your work here, mention @red-string-retrospective-week in the body of your post or use the tag #redstringweek. Due to Tumblr’s glitches regarding posts with links not showing up in the tag, we recommend that you @ us just to make sure we see it!
If your post is longer than a few paragraphs, please place the rest of the text under a read more and/or include a link to Ao3. Explicit content also goes under the read more.
For Ao3, submit to our Collection: RedStringRetrospectiveWeek
There are several ways you can add a work to the RedStringRetrospectiveWeek collection:
Through the Post New Work or Edit Work form:
You can fill in the name of the collection manually when posting a new work or editing a work. To do this, navigate to the Post New Work or Edit Work form, and scroll down to the Associations section. In this section, enter the name of the collection ([X] Week) in the “Post to Collections/Challenges” box. Once you’re finished with making all changes, scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Post”.
Through the Collection itself:
If you are posting a new work, go to the collection’s Dashboard or Profile page, where there is a “Post To Collection” link on the top right. This link will take you to the Post New Work form with the collection’s name already filled in.
If you have any questions or concerns please refer to [email protected] or this ask box!
I’m Newer to the Fandom, Can I Participate?
Of course! The event is for everyone who wants to join, regardless of their familiarity with the fandom. Canon is your playground!
For people who are newer or don’t engage with the fandom much, maybe think of what you thought when you were first listening to the podcast, something you wished happened, or a foundational canon fact or event you wish you could change.
