Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Content Warnings: Manga Spoilers, Post-Time Skip, Friends to Lovers, Enemies? (Or maybe just dense people) to Lovers, Angst, Fluff
Summary: The best way to prevent a broken heart is to tame your feelings, keep them locked in a room. At least that is what Shiroyanagi Natsumi thought. Until, she sees him again, Kuroo Tetsurou, taller, older, prettier. And she realises a heart that longs, hurts more than a heart that breaks.
Words Count: 2.8k

Kuroo Tetsurou - 黒尾 鉄朗
Shiroyagani Natsumi - 白柳夏美
黒 (black) 白 (white)
Tumblr media
Scientists say black is the absence of all colours. Artists say it’s the only shade present in all colours. I say you are all of that –presence and absence, light and obscurity, shade and colour.
One of the most annoying tasks she has to do as the freshly-new athletic trainer of the Japan Women's Volleyball Team is to appear in a collaboration video with the coach and the team members. Shiroyanagi Natsumi has always been used to being the tallest girl in her class, which is why in first grade, her parents had made a bet on her career path — it would be whether volleyball player or modelling — but because she hated to be in the spotlight, she chose volleyball. But now, as she stands beside the athletes (and despite being 6’ tall), she feels extremely small. At least she managed to stay in shape thanks to her studies in sports science, I should have gone more to the gym, she thinks anyway.
When her coach broke the news that the sports promotion division of the Japan Volleyball Association wanted to include her in their campaign, she would have given anything to murder the obnoxious, stupid, sadist — and whatever adjective strong enough to express her hate — person in charge of that division.
According to the coach, it is important to bring to light their indispensable job. And what can she say about it, he is her boss after all and she dreamed of working with the Olympic team for years. So, she offered a tense smile and returned to her office.
“Did your dog die?”
Ito Izumi, the regular libero of the team, looks at her with big eyes.
“Of course not, I would be desperate if he did,” Natsumi mutters, a pout appearing on her lips at the mention of the loss of the love of her life, Saba, a cute and fluffy Cavalier King Charles spaniel that Natsumi adopted two-years ago. My child, as she likes to call him.
“Well you do look desperate, Nana.”
Liberos are said to be, well, straightforward. And they need to. At the end of the day, in a game they don’t have time to be precious or cautious, they just have to dive to the floor and end up with a few bruises. Natsumi never understood why one would want to do crazy things like liberos, that’s why she was fine with being a middle blocker in school. As the saying goes, clichés die hard, and Ito Izumi is no exception to the rule. She is in fact Straightforward, frank and a little bit crazy (she also happens to be the best libero of all Japan).
Natsumi only sighs, “I hate photoshoots. And why do I have to be here anyway? If I chose to be an athletic trainer and not a proper athlete it is because I don’t like getting the attention. Argh. ”
Only a few pictures have been taken, yet the athletic trainer already feels exhausted and blinded by the too-bright white lights of the flashes. The two girls are seated in a corner of the studio, taking a water break from all this agitation.
“Eww, I know you don’t like photoshoots.”
“Why are you laughing?” Natsumi asks, eyebrows raised.
“It’s just-” Izumi took a few seconds to wipe away the tears that started to form in her eyes “I just remembered the day of your graduation, when Yaku and I dragged you all the way from the toilets to take a picture.”
Her friend cringes at the mention of the memory, she softly pushes the libero. “Shut up!” Deep down Natsumi feels her heart lighten. Is that nostalgia from a time when one did not have to think about taxes and bosses and grocery shopping and whatever adult responsibility?
“I remember how Suzuki-sensei screamed at Yaku for entering the girls’ toilets.”
“He turned all red.”
They laugh so loud the make-up team turns and gives them suspicious looks.
“See, I know this would make you smile.”
Natsumi looks at Izumi, offering her a soft smile. “You always know how to make me smile.”
And this is as true as the law of gravity. Izumi never fails to make her friends smile. The girls met in high school. They both went to Nekoma, known to be a powerhouse for volleyball. Natsumi was one year above Izumi. When the latter became a first year, Natsumi was made vice-captain of the female team. She remembers when Izumi entered — or rather burst into the gymnasium. She’s so loud, everyone thought. She was grounded by the captain and had to take care of the cleaning for a whole month. One time, when Natsumi stayed a little longer to train her serves after a defeating match, Izumi told her how happy she was to be in this team. Natsumi found her naive at first, they had just lost, and terribly, how could she be happy? But as she looked at her, cleaning the polished wooden floor and acclaiming every action her teammates made, Natsumi smiled. That day, she discovered that Izumi wasn’t just loud and naive, she had a gift, one of putting the smile back on your face. Whether it was when Yaku hurt his ankle during his last high school tournament, when Kenma forgot to save his progress on dragon quests or when Kuroo turned silent for a whole month when Natsumi announced she was leaving for America. Her presence itself brings joy.
“Do you have news from Yaku by the way?” Natsumi asks.
“Of course I have. He came back from Russia last month. You know, It’s not because he broke my heart ten years ago that I resent him.” Izumi puffs out her chest, trying to express the little pride she has left through her posture.
“This sentence itself makes it obvious that you’re not over it.”
“I-well, you know how I am. I have a crush on a guy-”
“On a libero you mean.”
“Alright, alright, on a libero. I have a thing for liberos. Anyway. I confess to him. He says I’m a pain in the ass. I get over it and find a new gu-libero. That’s called the circle of life. That happened in high school with Yaku, with that Nishinoya guy, the list is long. My new target is the cutie cutie Komori from the boys’ team though.”
For anyone foreign from the situation, Izumi could be diagnosed with Emophilia. But Natsumi has known her friend for over a decade now, nothing could surprise her anymore when it comes to Izumi’s love life.
“Anyway. We’re having dinner with the boys tonight, wanna come with us? Just like the good old days.”
Natsumi knows what “good old days” mean, she knows who that includes, and as strong and independent and tough she may be, she doesn’t feel ready yet.
But maybe that’s the point of life, jumping off the cliff when one feels the least ready.
But she gets up. Somehow being in the spotlight of the cameras and getting yelled at by the photograph is less scary than where this conversation is leading to.
“I am deeply, deeply, sorry for being late.”
An infuriating, sarcastic voice resonates in the studio — or as it sounds like to the athletic trainer. That doesn’t stop her from turning around as fast as the light.
Taller. Older. Prettier. That is how Kuroo Tetsurou reflects in Natsumi’s eyes as he makes his entrance.
“Kuroo-san!” Coach Watanabe runs towards the man. “Kuroo-san, it’s good to see you.” He energetically shakes his hands.
“There was an accident on the road, I’m very sorry.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine! Listen, girls.” The older man shouts to capture everyone’s attention. As if Natsumi’s eyes were not already glued on the tall silhouette of what appears to be a ghost. Am I time travelling? She asks herself. No way, no way, Kuro would never wear a suit.
She’s not dreaming. He is indeed wearing a suit. A black suit, making his thighs look as muscular as ever. A red tie, reminding her of his Nekoma’s jersey. A few buttons of his white shirt loose, probably in an attempt to get some fresh air — Tokyo summers are cruel — all of that means only one thing, Kuroo Tetsurou is no longer a teenager. No longer the captain of the volleyball team. No longer an awkward eighteen-year-old boy unable to confess his feelings for his best friend from the opposite gender.
When Kuroo catches sight of her, his whole world seems to be still. Did colours disappear?
“Shiro?” he whispers awkwardly, too low to make the coach stop his presentation.
“This is Kuroo Tetsurou, he is in charge of the sports promotion division of the Japan Volleyball Association. He was the one suggesting the brilliant idea of this campaign.”
So this is the obnoxious, stupid, sadist person Natsumi wanted to murder a couple of days ago. Of course, how could it be someone else? How naive of her.
If Kuroo is no longer a teenager, so is Natsumi. Her younger self would have walked past him, giving him a cold shoulder and screaming that he was the most stupid and selfish and stupid  — teenagers do have a limited list of vocabulary — person she knows. How dare he reappear in her work territory now? But her twenty-six-old self clears her throat and manages to find better words than “stupid” and “selfish”.
“Hi, Kuro”.
“Hello there, are you real or is this a very good hologram of Shiro?”
“Even though your hair looks like you just woke up, you’re not dreaming. That is me.”
“Well- I guess you look smaller. And more tanned.”
“You can thank the Californian sun for that.”
Kuroo's heart skips a beat. How could he say thank you to the Californian sun when that same sun was the one who took her from him?
“Tetsuu!” Izumi sings. However, her joy is quickly stopped by the deadly glance Natsumi is giving her.
“Did you know he would come?” Izumi reads in her friend’s eyes.
But liberos are fearless, they like to jump and dive and sometimes, to drown.
So she ignores her and slams the man on the arm, “The captain is looking fine.”
“Izumi, it’s good to see you, it’s been a long time.” (A long, long time indeed.) “How are you? Are you enjoying your new life in Italy?” he asks.
“Ew, our coach is pretty intense. The Italian championship is coming next October, so we need to prepare but apart from that pastas are good, the sun shines, and the wine is fuck-”
“Izumi, we need to go back to the photoshoot.” Natsumi interrupts. “See you later Kuro.”
As she’s about to go to the other side of the studio, Kuroo adds with a smirk. “I did not know you were into modelling now.”
That’s your fault, she wants to say, you were the one proposing this fucking campaign. But instead, she goes for something more sarcastic, after all, she is talking to Kuroo, the king of sarcasm.
“There’s many things you don’t know about me, Kuroo Tetsurou.”
Tumblr media
If Natsumi had got up and tried to run away from the “good old days” conversation is certainly not to end up in this precise situation. But here she is, stuck between Yamamoto and Kuroo in the most crowded Izakaya of Shibuya. Izumi is ordering her fourth beer, Asahi, her favourite. Yaku is trying to hide it from her. Lev is eating a cauliflower salad and explaining that he needs to keep his diet clean if he doesn’t want to lose his contract with whatever agency he is working with at that time. Yes, she is having dinner with Izumi and “the boys”.
“Shiroyanagi-san, do you want more fried chicken?” Shibayama asks with his usual polite tone (almost too pure for this world). But Natsumi says no, her hair already smells too much of greasy food, she might need to wash them with a super special shampoo tonight.
Don’t get her wrong, it’s not that she doesn’t want to be here. A reunion with her high school friends could be very enjoyable but the thing is, when she woke up that morning she did not expect to run into Kuroo Tetsurou and even less to eat next to him and feel his shoulder and hand and leg against hers in a small restaurant.
“Isn’t Kenma coming?” she finally asks Kuroo.
“He has this very important livestream tonight, but he might come later.”
“Nice.” She shyly mutters.
Kuroo looks at her sipping her glass of water.
“Is this how this conversation is going to be like?”
“What do you mean?”
If Natsumi did not know Kuroo well she might have thought that his attitude remained unchanged. But she does know him, even separated by years and continents, she knows when he was pissed. And right now, he looks pissed.
“Small talk.” he finally answers. “We haven’t seen each other in years and the only thing you’re asking me is when Kenma arrives.”
“I haven’t seen Kenma in quite some time too.”
That’s how you wanna play, Kuroo thinks.
“Says the girl who left for America.”
From across the table, Yaku overhears his former captain and decides to let Izumi drink her beer. That’s a lost case anyway, she’s already drunk. What matters now is how Natsumi’s eyebrows frown and how she starts scratching her nails, a bad habit she has since forever and that she usually goes back to when she feels uncomfortable.
“It was eight years ago, Kuro, eight years. Do I need to apologise, again?”
“I’m not looking for any apologies.”
“Then what do you want?”
Yaku wants to interfere, he’s good at it, that used to be his job in the team, but as his mouth opens to speak, Inuoka lets out a sound that only he — and probably Shoyo — could understand.
“Heyaaa! More meat is coming.”
Kuroo gets distracted for a second, drifting his attention away from Natsumi. The girl lets herself breathe again and grabs her bag. She has to get out of this place and escape from the noise and the heat of the food in front of her.
When Kuroo turns back, Natsumi is out of sight.
Once safely outside, she gets a cigarette and a lighter from her pocket.
How funny it is that people smoke when they feel stressed, strangled, muffled. Can this be called fighting fire with fire?
“I did not know you smoked.”
Long and blond-dyed hair, yellow eyes, awkward smile. Natsumi would recognize him in a crowd filled with thousands and thousands of people. Or cats.
“What a shame for an athletic trainer, I know the song.”
Kenma chuckled, “As if I would judge your lifestyle when I sleep maybe three hours every night.”
“That’s the prize to pay for being rich and famous.” She lights up her cigarette. “I only smoke when I’m tense or having a drink with my friends though.”
“Which one is it right now?”
“Both.”
Kenma doesn’t reply back so she decides to go a bit deeper and complains about the raven-hair boy.
“Your best friend is the worst. He says I’m only having small talks with him when we haven’t seen each other in years but he blames me for going to college in America. Argh. This was eight years ago, Kenma. Why is he still mad? I hate when he does this with his superior tone and tcht- never mind.”
Her voice has become more nasal and furious as she talks. Anger and cigarettes are not a good combination.
“Guess some things never change.”
Natsumi, back pressed against the wall, sighs, “for sure, he hasn’t changed. He’s still a jerk.”
The good thing about talking with Kenma is that she is free to say whatever she wants, she can even insult his best friend, and he wouldn’t argue.
“What I meant is that you guys have always been kinda awkward.”
“Awkward? What do you mean?”
The boy, already tired of the conversation, crouches down, “You can’t have a proper conversation without fighting. I’ve never seen anyone like you two, or, well, maybe Shoyo and Kageyama are like that. If you were a romantic book you would be, I don't know, what they call academic rivals or something like that.”
“A romantic book? Seriously Kenma, as if…”
The silence questions even more the boy, “as if what? As if you could ever have romantic feelings for him? I don’t really know this kind of stuff so I won’t give any advice but I’m not blind. And neither are you.”
It’s a good thing Kuroo is still inside, she would hate having to discuss that topic with him. “Romantic feelings for Shiro?” She remembers him saying to Kai one evening outside of the changing room, “She’s more like an annoying cousin to me.”
Kenma gets up and she stubs out her cigarette.
“Tell the boys and Izumi I went back home because-”
“You missed your dog.”
That is the easiest and probably most credible lie he can give, so she thanks him with a soft smile and leaves.
She hopes to find solace under her fleece blanket, drinking a hot chocolate buried in whipped cream and with her dog resting on her chest, but when she opens the door of her apartment — a door that needs to be oiled — and is welcomed by the darkness, the silence and the emptiness of the room, she sighs. Soon enough, Saba greets her by whining.
“Hi baby, I missed you.”
The only thing that eases her mind is that tomorrow will be Saturday, no need to go to work, no need to run into him.
She doesn’t have a lot of pictures on her white walls, only a few from high school with Izumi and some from college. As she looks at them she wonders if she should have been to America at all, if she shouldn’t have stayed in Japan instead. With him. But thank gods, she comes back to her senses quickly and regrets ever thinking that. America was great, it was the best decision of her life. She shall not let the guilt intrude upon her mind. Kuro must be getting under my skin. She concludes before going to bed.

Some lore (which can also double as a headcanon) for my SABA AU!
Note for this post: I will be using any pronouns for Vex, due to headcanoning him as genderfluid.
Based off of @dognightmare4 's idea that Vex takes different forms based on what is feared the most at the time, I began imagining what a prehistoric Craftworld would look like for him (ignoring Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves since I know nothing about it + I think it takes place during the age of dinosaurs while this is more about the beginnings of humanity). I pictured a cold and dark time ruled by a creature commonly known as the saber toothed tiger (which is actually just called a saber toothed cat, they’re not related to tigers). This must have been the first thing to be widely feared right? So I doodled up a baby version of Vex, basing him off of that creature…
Tumblr media
Meet the greatest predator of early Craftworld. Though yet to be known as the master of the Uproar, Vex already had a reputation from kittenhood to the point of being considered the strongest creature of the Uproar. They would hunt smaller creatures for food and sport, their attacks being considered a natural part of Craftworld's life cycle. These hunts, which would supposedly go on for days and nights on end until Vex was satisfied, instilled terror and wonder in the denizens of Craftworld, compelling them to revere and even worship them. Research by the modern-day Institute of Craftworld Knowledge (ICK) has shown a possibility that when someone was caught by Vex they would bow down and pray to them, not for mercy from death but peace in the afterlife.
"But Mzoya, who were these 'someone's?"
Hang on, I’m getting there.
Vex's favorite snacks were none other than the ancestors of what we now call Sackpeople. Back in the day, they were made from leaves, petals, and stems from various plants, earning them the name Plantlings. Because of Vex's predation, they were always on the move, the slowpokes being the ones that would become its next meal. This made the ones that survived evolve to become agile both on land and in water, but they still had one major weakness: the cold. Each winter, they would huddle up to whatever warmth they could find, but many would still wither and die. Once plentiful all throughout Craftworld, Vex and the cold combined caused their numbers to dwindle until they became endangered. However, they were an intelligent and crafty kind, one day learning the key to their descendants' survival: fabric. They had observed that emerging species made of various fleeces and fabrics could survive the winter much easier, even if many were unable to swim like Plantlings could. With this knowledge in mind, the first Sacklings were stitched. The following winter, the last Plantlings died out, but Sackpeople live on to this day, carrying with them the legacy of their flowery ancestors.
As time went by, Vex's innocence would be whittled away by her peers, who wanted to bring a fate crueler than death to other kinds. They would convince her of things that can only be left up to imagination, with the goal of influencing her to push the balance of dreams and nightmares in favor of nightmares (see my previous post on the subject). The young feline, impressionable and knowing little about her prey, accepted their "guidance", leading the Uproar to become more and more cruel. Eventually Vex took the form of a demon as demons became more feared than the now-extinct creature she was born as, and by that time she was acting the part too. This series of events changed not just the Uproar, but all of Craftworld for the worse. In order to combat Vex, a brave Sackling would wield the energy of dreamer orbs to dispel to Uproar and protect Craftworld. Such began the legacy of the Knitted Knights.
(Side note: My gods I love using she/her pronouns for Vex.)
So yeah, that’s how Nightmares (uproar creatures) and Sackpeople became what they are today lol

King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess of Orange will visit to Caribbean part of the Kingdom – programme
His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, Her Majesty Queen Máxima and Her Royal Highness Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange, will pay a visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from Friday 27 January to Thursday 9 February 2023. They will visit Bonaire, Aruba and Curaçao before continuing to St Maarten, St Eustatius and Saba. The visit is intended to introduce the Princess of Orange to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. The islands have put together a programme covering such topics as culture, nature, colonial history, sports and defence operations, and including meetings with island residents. The royal party will be accompanied by State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitalisation Alexandra van Huffelen.
Bonaire, Friday 27 to Saturday 28 January
The royal party will arrive in Bonaire on Friday afternoon, where they will be welcomed by Governor Edison Rijna. On Saturday morning the governor will receive the party at his official residence, together with members of the island council and island executive.
The King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will then visit the slave huts at Witte Pan, which are reminders of the history of slavery in Bonaire. Following this they will travel along the west coast and attend Nos Zjilea at Cultural Park Mangazina di Rei, an event which highlights Bonaire’s cultural and historical heritage. The party will view an exhibition on the island’s history. Young people will tell them about their local area, a family of four generations will bake bread in a stone oven and primary school children will perform with their learning orchestra. This will be followed by a lunch with Bonaire residents at Arawak.
In the afternoon the party will watch a windsurfing demonstration in Sorobon Bay. Bonaire is reputed for its good windsurfing and the talented windsurfers it produces. The King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will then talk to junior rangers from the STINAPA national park foundation about coastal nature conservation, especially of the mangroves which protect the coast. The party will tour the bay and mangroves by boat.
The visit to Bonaire will draw to a close in Kralendijk with a trip to Taste of Bonaire, a cultural market with local products, culinary offerings and musical performances.
Aruba, Monday 30 January
On Monday morning the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will arrive in Oranjestad, where a welcome ceremony will take place on Wilhelmina Square. Following a meeting with Governor Alfsonso Boekhoudt, the party will walk to the parliament to speak with party leaders. They will then walk to the Cocolishi building, which houses Aruba’s cabinet. There they will have lunch with the prime minister and ministers. On the way they will interact with members of the public and see performances by a local learning orchestra and youth choir.
In the afternoon the party will continue to San Nicolas, a town with an artistic vibe. At Filomena College secondary school they will attend a performance about Boy Ecury, an Aruban-Dutch resistance hero. This will take place next to a mural dedicated to him. Other colourful murals, created by local and international artists during Aruba Art Fair, will be highlighted during a walk through the town. The party will also pay a brief visit to the Museum of Industry and will watch street performances by young people, featuring breakdance, spoken word and a carnival show.
Aruba, Tuesday 31 January
In the morning the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will visit Arikok National Park. This protected area covers 20% of Aruba. The party will go on a hike in the park, meet the makers of a nature documentary about the six islands and discuss nature conservation and management with junior rangers at the Center of Cultivation. The royal party will then continue on to Royal Aruba Aloe, a company founded in 1890, where they will speak with staff and see how the company cultivates aloe vera and uses it in making skincare products.
In the afternoon the party will visit the University of Aruba. They will attend part of a lecture on Caribbean law and talk with students. The King and Princess of Orange will then visit the Soccer Academy at Compleho Deportivo Frans Figaroa, which provides training for talented young people in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB). Queen Máxima will pay a field visit to a vegetable farmer who attends a business academy run by credit provider Qredits.
In the evening the Bon Bini Festival will take place at Fort Zoutman. Following a walk around Plaza Padú, where there will be music and a presentation of local products, the royal party will watch an exploratory show on Aruban culture and history, with Caribbean music and dance.
Aruba/Curaçao, Wednesday 1 February
The King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will sail from Aruba to Curaçao on patrol ship HNLMS Holland, which is stationed in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. On board they will discuss the Ministry of Defence’s operations in the Caribbean region, followed by a tour of the vessel and demonstrations. The Defence organisation works to keep all parts of the Kingdom safe. Military units stationed in the region fulfil three key tasks: to protect the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, to promote and maintain the international legal order, and to support the local authorities. For example, they carry out operations to counter drug smuggling, provide assistance in sea rescues and provide emergency relief after hurricanes.
Upon arrival in Willemstad’s St Anna Bay the royal party will be greeted by Governor Lucille George-Wout. This will be followed by a welcome ceremony marking the start of their visit to Curaçao.
Curaçao, Thursday 2 February
The visit to Curaçao will commence in Willemstad with a walk over the Queen Emma Bridge to Brión Square, where the King will give the starting signal for registration for the King’s Games. Primary school children will take part in sports contests on the square. Afterwards the party will tour the Otrobanda district, talking to residents and artists and watching musical performances. This will be followed by a lunch with representatives of the Curaçaoan authorities in the Governor’s Palace.
In the afternoon the royal party will visit the Punda and Scharloo districts. In Punda the King will strike a coin to mark the 25th anniversary of Willemstad becoming a UNESCO World Heritage site. The party will also paint a chichi, a traditional Curaçaoan sculpture symbolising the responsible eldest sister in a family. They will then go on a walk through the Scharloo district, with street art, music and youth sports projects. The walking tour will end at Princess Amalia Bridge, where the party will listen to Amalia Waltz, a piece composed for the Princess.
In the evening a dinner will be held at the Cathedral of Thorns, attended by 21 residents who make a valuable contribution to their community. The number of guests reflects the fact that it is the royal couple’s 21st wedding anniversary on that day.
Curaçao, Friday 3 February
In the morning the royal party will visit the Tula Museum at Landhuis Knip on the former plantation where Tula started a slave revolt in 1795. They will watch a performance about the revolt and speak with descendants of enslaved people. They will then visit Hofi Mango, a former sugar plantation that is now a nature park where, among other things, horticultural education is provided.
In the afternoon the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will attend a presentation on Cas Abao beach by Sea Turtle Conservation Curaçao and the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) about protected marine areas and preserving the sea turtle population.
The trip to Curaçao will conclude with a visit to a Tumba Music Concert with carnival acts at Brión Square. The concert is being held in honour of the late Boy Dap, who is regarded as the king of Tumba, a genre of music and dance originating in Africa.
St Maarten, Monday 6 February
The King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will be welcomed at Princess Juliana International Airport by the Governor of St Maarten Ajamu Baly and Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs. The first day of the visit will focus on the country’s reconstruction following the devastation caused by hurricane Irma in September 2017. The royal party will view the airport which is currently still being rebuilt. During a visit to the emergency and disaster response services, the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will assist in a disaster exercise. They will then visit the St Maarten Medical Center. This hospital plays a key role in the region and also treats many patients from St Eustatius and Saba. The King, Queen and Princess will speak to patients and will be updated on the expansion of the hospital. They will then have lunch with the cabinet.
In the afternoon the royal party will be taken on the Color Me SXM mural walk in Philipsburg. These murals are designed to brighten up Philipsburg, as many of the town’s buildings are still vacant or damaged following the hurricane. The day will conclude with lively displays of St Maarten’s culture along a walking route and a concert on the Boardwalk in Philipsburg.
St Maarten, Tuesday 7 February
In the morning the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will visit Fort Amsterdam. Here they will go on a birding excursion in search of the brown pelican, the island’s national bird. They will also learn about the fort’s history. They will then meet members of St Maarten’s parliament and youth parliament. At the White and Yellow Cross residential home for older people and people with a disability, the royal party will learn more about the daytime activities organised for residents. Next, they will visit a science fair, where primary and secondary school pupils will present their solutions for reducing plastic waste on the island.
In the afternoon the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will visit Resources for Community Resilience (R4CR). R4CR disburses World Bank funds to projects aimed at rebuilding St Maarten after hurricane Irma via a Trust Fund. The party will speak with representatives of civil society organisations about their projects and with young people about their work at various organisations. They will then visit a school garden project where they will talk to pupils about their work in the garden and the importance of gardening for their mental health. In Emilio Wilson Park schoolchildren will talk about their dreams for the future of St Maarten and plant yellow sage, the island’s national flower. Following this the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will visit St Peters Hill, where they will learn about nature conservation in St Maarten. This hill borders on the French part of the island. The afternoon will conclude with a youth baseball tournament.
In the evening the party will attend a reception hosted by the governor.
St Eustatius, Wednesday 8 February
The royal party will be welcomed to St Eustatius by Government Commissioner Alida Francis and will meet representatives of the island’s authorities. During a walk through Oranjestad’s historical centre they will meet a number of Statia residents who will speak about their life on the island. The history of slavery on the island will also be discussed. After the walk, the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will attend a debate with young people about their future on the island.
After a lunch with island residents, the royal party will go to Zeelandia Beach where they will hear about local nature management and the annual STATIA DOET Beach Clean Up. After this they will visit a community garden, where they will speak with farmers about the food system on the island. Because a lot of food is imported, prices are high and there is a shortage of fresh produce. The party will then join schoolchildren in a basketball practice session. The visit to St Eustatius will conclude with an event at Fort Oranje, focusing on the island’s cultural heritage.
Saba, Thursday 9 February
The royal visit will conclude on Saba. After being received by Island Governor Jonathan Johnson, the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange will hear about Saba’s energy supply. Saba aspires to become energy neutral within the next few years. The royal party will then proceed to the village of Zion’s Hill for a presentation on lacemaking, a Saban tradition. On a walk through the village of Windwardside the King and Queen and the Princess with meet local residents. At the Eugenius Center they will meet older residents who will also give a theatre performance. The party also speak with artists and business owners about their work. The party will also step into the Harry L. Johnson Museum where they will learn about life on Saba through the years.
After a lunch with representatives of the Saban authorities, the royal party will visit the Expertise Center Education Care (EC2) in St Johns, that supports vulnerable schoolchildren. The organisation won an Orange Fund ‘Appeltje van Oranje’ award in 2021. The party will then depart for the harbour, where they will find out more about Saba’s new harbour project. Scientists will tell them about a project on Diadema sea urchins, which help protect coral reefs by eating the algae that would otherwise overrun the coral. The final component of the programme will see the King and Queen and the Princess of Orange visit The Bottom where they will play sports with children on the world’s largest Cruyff Court.

hi guys in this post i'm going to share the lion king/guard lore to the best of my knowledge
Tumblr media
from the beginning, there was mohatu and some random lioness and they had a daughter named uru. there was also hata, and again, an unnamed lioness, who had a kid named ahadi. when hata no longer felt comfortable in the pride, he left and gave ahadi to mohatu. uru then grew up and had kids with ahadi, these kids were taka and mufasa. ahadi accidentally killed uru, and scarred taka in the process. taka then befriended three hyenas, banzai, shenzi, and ed. later on, ahadi heard that taka was playing with hyenas, but hyena and lions "are enemies and can never be friends". he takes taka home and scolded and grounds him for this. he then heard that taka was attacked by a pridelander teen lion named riku, but was saved by hyenas. sina, the mother of riku, scolds taka, thinking that he was a murderer, and told ahadi that he has to leave the pridelands. however, ahadi silenced sina and tells her that if she lays a paw on his son, he will have to banish her out of the pridelands. sina didn’t listen and heard that teenage taka was hiding a cub named zira. she attacked the cub along with taka, but ahadi and his pride came just in time and he banished sina, along with her daughter sarafina (who asked to go with mother) taka then decided to go by scar. mufasa meets sarabi and they become mates. sarabi now being queen, lets sarafina back into the pridelands. then mufasa has simba with sarabi, and sarafina has nala. her father is unknown. i assume he got driven out of the pride since there are only two male lions in a pride, but yknow. simba and nala had a bunch of friends. tamo, tojo, chumvi, kula, and malka. nala also had a half younger brother named mheetu, but all 6 of them were scrapped in the final project. scar and zira had two (or possibly one) kid(s). nuka (and maybe vitani, although i believe vitani is nala and scar's child). after scar's death, zira stole kovu from his real parents. kovu's real parents are named ujasiri and furaha, and they originally named kovu bahati. she only wanted him because he looked similar to scar. simba and nala had kids, too. kopa, the oldest son, who was killed by zira (book series), kiara, the daughter, who taught simba that all lions are the same, and that outlanders shouldn't be frowned apon, thus bringing peace amongst the two groups. and kion. kion is the worst. kion is the leader of the lion guard, who consists of ono, bunga, fuli, and beshte. the hyenas also have kids n stuff. banzai and shenzi have a kid named janja, and then many believe ed and shenzi had kids, who would be cheezi and chungu, but it isnt canon. janja lead his clan, which had cheezi, chungu, nne, tano, sita and saba. janja also has a mate from another hyena clan named jasiri. jasiri's clan has 12 members, but only four are named. madoa, wema, and tunu. simba and kion make an effort to invade the outlands and defeat scar's army, whilst janja grows uncomfortable with fighting the lion guard and is hesitant to join jasiri's army, which leads to scar attempting to kill him and the lion guard by trapping them in a fire. janja escapes and finds jasiri, and both of them rush to the pride landers. simba and the royal family have already escaped, and after makuu's persuasion, janja tells the pride landers the only way to defeat scar. the next day, the final battle begins, resulting in scar's defeat, and ushari's death. janja's clan joins jasiri's clan and jasiri becomes the next in-charge of the outlands. kion and ono get injured during the battle, with kion notably sporting a scar on his left eye, in a similar form of his great uncle's, and the lion guard must embark on an epic quest to the tree of life to get them healed. makucha returns as the new main antagonist after scar and assembles a group to get revenge on the lion guard and feast on the animals at tree of life.
by season three kion reaches the tree of life but is encountered by the night pride, who mistakes them for a threat and drives them out. however, the queen of the night pride, janna persuades her granddaughter, rani, the leader of the night pride and the future queen of the tree of life, to allow them in. rani and kion start to bond over each other, with rani warming up to kion. in long live the queen, queen janna has finally passed away of old age, leaving her legacy behind to her granddaughter, who becomes the new queen of the tree of life, and is comforted by kion after her grandmother's death. meanwhile, makucha's army has followed kion into the tree of life, making several attacks on the tree of life, all thwarted by the forces of the night pride and the guard. the army is eventually expanded when mama binturong, a scheming binturong whom bunga has battled follows the army and becomes their new leader, bringing reinforcements against the tree of life. during his healing, kion is visited by the ghost of askari, the first leader of the lion guard, who trains him on how to master the roar, so he can truly let go of it. kion is eventually healed, and the villains are defeated in the final battle for the tree of life. once the battle is over, kion and rani form a deep romantic bond, which leads to kion wondering if he should stay at the tree of life. makini becomes the royal mzjuzi for queen rani. however, kion is alerted by janja and jasiri, aided by azaad (whom fuli previously befriended during the journey) that zira, the evil lioness who supported kion's evil great-uncle scar, and was exiled from the pride lands to the outlands by simba, and later battled the lion guard previously, along with her children vitani, and kovu (the latter of whom was scar's successor during his rule) have threatened the pride lands, prompting kion and co. to return to the pride lands. in the series finale, return to the pride lands, after a long journey, the lion guard, jasiri, janja, and azaad have reached the outlands, where the hyenas reunite with their clanmates, who inform them that zira and the outsiders have invaded the pride lands and that zira's son kovu, has supposedly taken over pride rock. with help from the hyenas, and mzingo's parliament (who reformed after scar's defeat) the guard plans venture to stop kovu but are halted by kovu's sister vitani and a group of lionesses, shabaha, kasi, imara, and tazama, who launch an attack with the phrase "till the pride lands' end, lion guard defend!" after the two guard battle, kiara and kovu stop the fight and bring them all back to pride rock to explain the story of how kovu was raised to believe that simba was the enemy, but befriended him and kiara and as a result, betrayed zira, and with the help of kiara, united simba's pride and the outsiders, whilst zira, refusing to let go of her hate, was killed. after the guard reunites with their family and friends, vitani and kion clash over who should be the new guard, which leads to a contest between the two teams. while kion wins ultimately, vitani states she can lead without the roar, which leads to kion anointing vitani as his successor and the new leader of the lion guard. kion is later visited again by askari, who tells him that the roar of the elders could help another place. knowing askari's words, kion is given the mark of the night pride, which was bestowed upon him by the late queen janna, and the great lions of the past bestow kion with the roar once again. sometime later, we see the pride landers gather around at the tree of life and the marriage of kion and rani, as well as resulting in kion's coronation as the king of the tree of life. kion and rani roar over their kingdom as the pride landers and tree of life inhabitants cheer back in approval, with the spirits of mufasa, askari, janna, and the great lions of the past watching proudly down on them. thanks for reading! 😄
