I’m so pissed off right now

I’m playing Slow Damage in tandem with a friend, he got Rei’s route and I got Taku’s so it works out

But it turns out that Rei’s ending is that he just gets rid of all the femininity???? Like, the reason we liked Rei at the beginning was BECAUSE of how he presented and behaved

It’s just like Noiz all over again. Showing us the little edgy boy with piercings and autism but then making him a rich boy that took out almost al his piercings and have a Cinderella ending

Why does NC have a character that has traits that are normally less accepted only to have that character to get rid of them in the ending? Especially since normally those traits are what the fans are initially attracted to about the character????

I’m sitting here, thinking about possible ships in Stardew Valley that don’t involve the farmer. I’ve seen quite a few. Of course there’s the canon stuff, aka the married couples and Marnie with Lewis. It’s also canon that Alex says he’s jealous if you get with Haley. Ignoring Clint and Emily because I’m sorry but that’s literally “nice guy creepy incel” getting the girl.

But! I don’t like most of the married couples AND I don’t like Marnie with Lewis. So I’m gonna go on a little exploration here.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot of Caroline and the Wizard. First of all I absolutely think that Abigail is the Wizard’s kid, but I also don’t think those two actually… like each other? I think it was more of a fling than anything. But low key? Part of me thinks the Wizard and Lewis could be kinda fun, I’ve also seen art of the Razzy with Marlon. Which would be fun! But I do think it’s really cute when Marlon says that Marnie is really pretty. It’s just precious to me.

But BUT, crazy thought

Willy is a traveler! He fishes all over the place!!! He’s gotta have experience with sea monsters and weird magics, and imagine the Wizard requests some specific sea based spells or works with him to help find merpeople OR ensures the seas and skies are calm so that he can sail safely. DO YOU SEE MY VISION???

Cough, so— I’m thinking Willy with Razzmocious and Marnie breaking up with Lewis and Marlon slowly winning her over himself. Caroline though? Honestly don’t think she’s the happiest with Pierre, he’s pretty shit. Low key I like her with Jodi haha. Like Kent isn’t bad, not at all, I just don’t think Jodi loves him. But Caroline and Jodi feel a bit too obvious, so… hear me out… Caroline and Gunther. She regularly visits the library so— gah yeah that’s stupid. Caroline deserves someone who will just cuddle with her and Jodi needs someone who makes her feel alive again. They’ve got different needs. Kent also needs a lot of love and therapy, which I don’t think Jodi can provide. Ok, I’m gonna move on to an easier one I’m dying here.

Sam and Sebastian are so obvious, going insane here. 100% ship them. I’ve seen some people throw Abigail into the mix, but personally I’m not the biggest fan of that. Honestly? I’m kinda into Abigail and Haley—

OK LISTEENNNNN, listen. Abigail’s 14 heart scene… imagine if Haley was there instead of the farmer. It just fits so perfectly. Pretty girlfriend loving buff girlfriend. I THINK ITS CUTE OK LEAVE ME ALONE SOB SOB SOB

Speaking of the girls, I like Maru and Penny together a lot. I just see them around town together all the time and I think it’s super cute haha. Ah shoot, that reminds me of Robin. I do not like Demetrius, personally. Though I suppose there marriage seems to work. I wouldn’t break them apart.

Ok, now on to my hotter tea. Harvey and Shane. Harvey is just so sweet and so loving and so nice and caring and Shane has no experience with that and Harvey gets Shane access to a therapist dhkfhwkd— I think it’s cute. I think it would be really cute if they started hanging out and Shane realized how poorly Harvey ate and started scolding him like “You’re always scolding me but you eat like this?” And just keeps going as he cooks them both a meal and gruffly sets it out for Harvey and—

Ok my other somewhat hot take, Elliott and Alex. The reasoning here might be iffy, but I like the idea of Alex getting with a guy who broadens his range of what masculinity means. I think it would also be cute if Alex slowly gained a love for reading through Elliott. Plus I think Alex could be a magnificent muse given his past. It could be cute.

Oh and my final take is Morris and Pierre should hatefuck

Elliott and Harvey are definitely my favorite bachelors so far in Stardew

I’ve been playing for a few weeks now (I think, time escapes me) and I suppose I’m just a fan of older men. I suppose Shane could also count… but… well, I hear that if the marriage goes off he will go back to drinking and blame it on you??? I just saw that and felt a massive ick. Totally get why people love their depressed man, though!

But back to Elliott. I just started a new farm (Honeybuzz) and he’s gonna be my romance, since on my other farm (Whittlebrooke) I romanced Harvey. And now I keep seeing like… yandere Elliott mods and stuff and I’m just sitting here… a massive yandere fan…

Sobbing and crying, I’ve made such good progress on my farm and now I wanna quit to get that mod for Elliott. But it’s probably better to see his normal romance and then compare it to the mod, right???

I agree with everything you said about gale/wyll, I would also like to add wyll being a traditional romantic and bringing Gale flowers on their first date meanwhile Gale is 100% altering the fabric of reality for what was ultimately supposed to be a nature walk (I also kinda like the idea that once they get to that level their proposal plans keep getting interrupted by acts of heroism because there truly is no rest for the righteous)

Hey by the way, what basically inspired me to do my in character journal for Stellan (and over all just a lot of my choices for him) was the fic Accursed Ones of AO3.

It’s Dragon Age Awakening and Dragon Age 2 from Anders’ perspective with accompanying side stories from other characters perspectives. It’s extremely good and interesting (though I don’t agree with all the headcanons and ships). Either way, it inspired me a lot, specifically their Warden Amell. Plus throughout the story, Amell has a journal and a grimiore which we see bits and pieces of, which helped me figure out somewhat what I wanted to do for the journal.

I greatly recommend it, but know that I cried for like 20 chapters straight (30-50 I believe) and it’s still being updated. Fantastic read so far though.

(Really struggling to link it so I’m sorry, but looking up Accursed Ones by TheThirdAmell on AO3 should work)

I think the issue with Shane is, instead of you inspiring him to fix himself, you just kinda end up being a crutch for him to lean on. Which isn't always a bad thing, but if that's what your friendship/relationship is built on... not very Healthy. This is coming from a Shane Fan.

I’ve just gotten past his heart event where he’s at the cliff. And I personally don’t think the Farmer is a crutch? Like, YOU aren’t the one to tell him he needs therapy, Harvey is. And he decides to go without your input.

To me, the best answer when he is on the cliff asking if he should just end it all, is to say “Whatever you choose, I am here for you.” Sometimes when you’re in that deep or a depression, you can’t stand on your own, there is no light. But if you can be 100% sure at least someone will be with you through it all, it can give you a lot of strength.

If anything, I think that it’s a mix of Jas, Marnie, the Farmer, Emily, and Harvey that helps Shane. Maybe that’s headcanon, but

Jas looks up to him and he doesn’t like her seeing him like this, Marnie gives him a place to stay even when he’s such a mess, the Farmer talks to him and works to befriend him, Emily is the person who dances with him at the flower dance (which I find significant, I fully think she wants to befriend him as well), and then Harvey is a doctor who cares and gives him the resources to get better (a therapist).

To me this story is all very strong, and I think the Farmer is important here for a very strict reason. Everyone other than the Farmer can easily have a “reason” to be nice to Shane. Jas and Marnie cause they’re family, Harvey cause he’s a doctor, and Emily cause her pay is based on Shane buying drinks and sticking around. She’s also famously friendly.

But what sours me is the fact that if you marry him, first of all his spouse room has beer cans (I can forgive messy, he is depressed - but beer????) and the fact that if the relationship goes poorly he legit goes back to drinking. I’m also not a fan of what I’ve heard of his 14 heart event in which the Farmer and Marnie doubt his commitment to not drink. It just bothers me a lot. I guess that does lean to your point though, since if his dedication to not drinking is based on his relationship with the Farmer…

Gah, this is why I feel so iffy about playing a route where I get with him. Bashing my head against the wall here
