I have been following you for years and have no idea who your icon is

oh my god this is wild. very understandable, considering it's extremely low-res (i took a bad screenshot like four years ago, okay, don't judge me), but still surprising!

my icon is named daisy johnson, played by chloe bennet! she's the main character of agents of shield, she's a hacker and a superhero, she's extremely snarky, and i have loved her since 2017

she is my icon because she's bisexual (in my heart, at least), she is mixed and has weird feelings about her white name, and she likes computers :) like me :D

she also genuinely has. SUCH cool storylines over the course of the show. and excellent fashion! here is a gif of the outfit she's wearing in my icon (while threatening a bigot :D)

The Peak Of Romance. oh wait i'm supposed to have meta thoughts

these two just... oh man. they are vulnerable with each other. they are spies for a living and yet they show weakness to each other and i just like. argh. can you imagine.

bobbi is so strong, around EVERYONE, and hunter is the ONE she feels like she can let that guard down around. hunter grins and jokes and does his job but with bobbi he's quieter, he admits to his mistakes without hesitation, he ASKS HER TO LEAVE SHIELD AND RUN AWAY WITH HIM. WITH HER HE FEELS LIKE A BETTER PERSON. AAA

they're those characters who would be fundamentally different without the other and i just. i love them. i love their bickering. i love their inside jokes. i cannot imagine a universe where they haven't known each other for a million years and hurt the other deeper than anyone ever has. i want to see their wedding.

Daisy and Hunter ;)

send me two characters and i’ll talk about their dynamic!

daisy and hunter fascinate me, because they are SO similar and canon has NEVER explored it? i think they both fall back on their personal relationships when in times of stress. hunter has his four (4) people -- bobbi, mack, izzy, idaho -- and no one else. daisy has a slightly larger circle -- when we see her at the height of her trust issues, s2, she has like six close people + a handful of others who are tentatively trustworthy -- but at her core, just like hunter, she's suspicious of large, faceless organizations.

i think it would've been cool to see them connect over that! and also talk about why they're still different. because although daisy is suspicious of large organizations like hunter, she's more of an idealist than he is, although she probably wouldn't admit it. she believes in people working together, even if she doesn't know them, as long as everyone gets a say in what's going on. decentralized leadership is very much her style.

hunter, coming from the military, is much more cynical about how decentralized leadership can really be. and he's right! but so is daisy.

anyway i think they appreciate how snarky the other is and enjoy making dumb bets. in canon, they never really got to the point of being close friends, but i think they each still realized how uncomfortably similar they were. they're probably the two members of the main cast most likely to have met outside the circumstances of the show. daisy would remind hunter what it's like to believe in something, and hunter would remind daisy how to be confident in herself (especially after her hacker boyfriend whose name completely escapes me).

Bobbi and Daisy?? 🤠

one word: teasing. these two have each others' backs, but they also have a LOT of fun with making fun of each other. daisy loves going on missions with bobbi and just hanging out with her in general -- she loves her humor and the way their styles mesh. bobbi loves daisy's unconventional problem-solving skills and has a lot of fun talking with her.

this kinda falls apart when bobbi is particularly stressed, because she tends to fall back on SHIELD and her role in it when she's in a bad place (see also: hunter trying for two seasons to get her to look at the world from a perspective other than SHIELD's). in that case, i think daisy's distaste for rules and regulations would bother her. and when daisy's in a bad place, she would hate how ever-present bobbi seems to be (bobbi's big on looking out for her friends, as we see when daisy's in quarantine in 2x10 or 11).

they like to talk to each other about their technical skills (daisy's hacking and bobbi's biology) because both of them feel like everyone ignores those in favor of their Badass Skills. they also share a strong fondness for m&ms! i love them.

bro... bro....... the TENDERNESS.

canon doesn't talk about this but i'm SO sure they've been best friends since the academy. each is the oldest real friend the other has, and you can see it in their every interaction. they probably haven't always had the same posting, but they're both very careful to keep in touch when they're not working together. scheduled hangout times on thursday nights and the like. i REFUSE to believe they lost touch after parting shot -- they have a way to communicate in code, like hunter and fitz, and it involves the old forums they used in their teen years (bobbi will write a message on an old and dead star wars forum, and mack will respond on a similarly dead motorcycle's forum).

when they're spending time together, they like to complain about their coworkers (both of them are cautious enough that there's only a handful of people they'd feel comfortable bitching to), ask for advice on problems they're working on (this one's canon and you know it), and make up backstories for the people they see on the street/background characters in movies. theirs is a long, loving friendship, built on an introduction in the second month of their freshman year and a love of cheesy snack food, and i love them.

also they should kiss, but i tried to stay in canon for this, lmao.

hot take alert: when did these two become friends? did i miss it? like the first canon interaction i remember them having is mack being angry at jemma for the way she treated fitz in s2, and then they were just... friends, i guess? no development?

i don't remember whole parts of canon so i might be mistaken here but genuinely i don't think it ever happened.

i like it when not everyone is the same level as friends, though, so i think i'll keep that initial reaction? i just... sue me, but i don't think they ever end up really friends? they're both pragmatic, reasoned people, so i think they trust the other's ability to do their job, and they don't hate them, but they're not close. mack doesn't like jemma's selfishness, or the way her morals start to slide as she focuses more on the ends than the means. jemma doesn't like mack's righteousness and the way that makes him hesitate to do what eventually needs doing. they're just... coworkers.

fsk emotions: the playlist

(i’d like to apologize in advance for how long this is going to get. UPDATE: yeah, this is around 4k, i am So Sorry.)

in case y’all weren’t aware, i have fitzskimmons emotions ALL THE TIME. my poor friends have to deal with me texting them at 11 pm like “i’m freaking out about fsk again” embarrassingly often. so, i figured i’d try to share some of those emotions with y’all, in the form of songs from my private fsk playlist on spotify.

i felt legally required to put this one first because i literally named my magnum opus after it. i like this song a lot on its own, but it specifically reminds me of fsk because the idea of your partner(s) as the place you will always gravitate towards is peak fsk for me. also, these three are canonically each others’ reassurance and rock and i’m just... i love them a lot, okay? this song’s imagery and lyrics have come to be inextricably associated with fsk for me and i love it a lot.

this one goes second because it’s probably my favorite song of all time. i play it on repeat whenever i’m feeling sad or anxious or pining or happy or just... anytime, lmao. but i also think it’s a very fsk song, and more specifically the fitzdaisy relationship! not only does it have more of that “gravitating towards each other” theme (more literally in this case), but the lyrics are also... very much fitzdaisy, i think, who are very much each others’ safe space and have been vulnerable with each other from the very beginning.

the most underrated song from reputation, this song is probably the most INTENSELY fsk song i’ve ever heard. these three have grown up together, have changed together, have left their mark on each other in ways that can never be undone. the thing i’m most nervous for in the series finale is the show completely ignoring that impact (along with all three’s relationships with coulson and may especially!). no matter their romantic configuration, none of them would be the same if they hadn’t known the others. and new year’s day really articulates that, along with a really sweet feeling of trust and the image of them cleaning up together after a party - which makes perfect sense when you think about canon, and how they’d stick together even after leaving the life-changing experience of shield. even though there’s no more life-changing adventures, they’re still going to be together, and that means something. y’all, this song is really good and the best fsk song ever and you NEED to listen to it.

look, just let them be happy, okay? also, i really love the trust aspect of this song, which i associate intensely with the fsk relationship. after all of the betrayal and pain and suffering they’ve experienced, i really love thinking about how much all three must trust each other, even in canon. also i wrote a fic where all three danced to this song and now i won’t ever get that image out of my head.

okay, this song is a bit darker than the others but i am a secret lover of springsteen, shh. also the mood works VERY well for three agents of shield who haven’t gotten a break since they left college. i really like the idea of them making their own happiness in the middle of the darkness together, because that’s part of why i’m so emotional about them! they are each others’ safe space and protector!

heck yeah, let’s talk about the fact that no one in the ot3 would be the same if they hadn’t met the others! not just that, but the fact that they support each other and are a big reason why each of them have made it through the pain of the series with, like, less trauma then they could’ve. fitz was there for daisy when she developed her powers and is the one who talked her into coming back in s4, daisy was there for jemma when she came back from maveth (and in the framework), and jemma and fitz have been supporting each other since they worked things out in s3. also, they know each other insanely well and i think this song does a great job of expressing that!

i really, really love this song, actually? i’m a big fan of a lot of his music lmao. but i like this song specifically because it’s about how complicated love can be sometimes, and i think fsk’s love gets really complicated sometimes! and like, despite it all, they love each other and they’re trying to work it out. but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s really hard sometimes! (shoutout to the fic i titled with a lyric from this song that exemplifies that exactly)

first off, this song has INTENSE post-framework fitz vibes. this is very much how i headcanon his relationship with violence works after they escape from the framework and fuck canon. but also, just, the idea of them all healing together? the idea of them moving on together after shield? poetic cinema. chef’s kiss. they’ve all changed SO MUCH since the show started, and yeah, not all of that change is good! but at least they’re still together.

i don’t know what about this song reminds me of jemma but something in this song reminds me of jemma, and fitz and daisy helping her heal. regardless, i am So Into them helping each other heal! mostly because the way that the show refuses to give them a break is SO FRUSTRATING. (also it tends to involve them being soft with each other and i am Weak.)

this is probably my second favorite song of all time. i am Absolutely Unbiased For Sure. regardless, i adore the imagery of this song, the contrast between the poetic feeling of it and the down-to-earth lyrics. this song, to me, is about people coming back to each other at the end of a long long journey. being in love while tired and recovering from a long, painful, messy life. and that just fits them... so well.

this is THE definitive daisy pov song. try to tell me i’m wrong. you can’t. daisy showing vulnerability is a BIG DEAL because of how easily she deflects things! she shows vulnerability to people she loves, most notably mack, coulson, fitz, and jemma! it physically pains me to think about how much she trusts them, y’all. there’s also this sense of melancholy throughout the song, because she’s never going to be the person that she once was. I’m Upset, Y’all.

*sobbing* i just want them to be HAPPY. i think part of my feelings about this song stem from, like, how fsk manages to find love during really, really dark times? and manages to be in love with each OTHER during the events of the show, which are VERY DARK as i think we can agree. and yet they managed to get together! and they managed to stick together! and idk, y’all, i’m just so soft for permanent partnerships and people being Married(tm) and this song brings that in SPADES.
