Paperhouse is a 1988 British dark fantasy film directed by Bernard Rose. It was based on the 1958 novel Marianne Dreams by Catherine Storr. The film stars Ben Cross, Glenne Headly and Gemma Jones. The original novel was the basis of a six-episode British TV series for children in the early 1970s which was titled Escape Into Night.
While suffering from glandular fever, 11-year-old Anna Madden draws a house. When she falls asleep, she has disturbing dreams in which she finds herself inside the house she has drawn. After she draws a face at the window, in her next dream she finds Marc, a boy who suffers with muscular dystrophy, living in the house. She learns from her doctor that Marc is a real person.
Anna sketches her father into the drawing so that he can help carry Marc away, but she inadvertently gives him an angry expression which she then crosses out, and the father (who has been away a lot and has a drinking problem, putting a strain on his marriage) appears in the dream as a furious, blinded ogre. Anna and Marc defeat the monster and shortly afterward Anna recovers, although the doctor reveals that Marc's condition is deteriorating.
Anna's father returns home and both parents seem determined to get over their marital difficulties. The family goes on holiday by the sea, where Anna finds an epilogue to her dream.
Charlotte Burke - Anna Madden, Ben Cross - Dad, Glenne Headly - Kate Madden, Elliott Spiers - Marc, Gemma Jones - Dr. Sarah Nichols, Jane Bertish - Miss Vanstone, Samantha Cahill - Sharon, Sarah Newbold - Karen.
Marianne Dreams is a children's fantasy novel by Catherine Storr. It was illustrated with drawings by Marjorie-Ann Watts and published by Faber and Faber in 1958. The first paperback edition, from Puffin Books in 1964, is catalogued by the Library of Congress as revised.
Marianne is a young girl who is bedridden with a long-term illness. She draws a picture to fill her time and finds that she spends her dreams within the picture she has drawn. As time goes by, she becomes sicker, and starts to spend more and more time trapped within her fantasy world, and her attempts to make things better by adding to and crossing out things in the drawing make things progressively worse. Her only companion in her dreamworld is a boy called Mark, who is also a long-term invalid in the real world.

Prole and Caduceus – offering accessible poetry
When it comes to clear, compelling, enjoyable poetry, Prole is up there with the best. They’ve been kind enough to take another of my poems for issue 33, alongside succulent work by Bob Beagrie, Sharon Black, Matt Broomfield, Pat Edwards, Matthew Friday, John Grice, Kevin Hanson, Robin Houghton, Sue Kindon, Wendy Klein, Richie McCaffery, Emma Pursehouse, Nikki Robson, Joel Scarfe, Sue Spiers, and…

Simon Spier (Love, Simon (2018)) and Mary Anne Spier (The Baby-Sitters Club (2020 ver.)) are cousins AU
Jack is 6 years older than Richard. While they weren’t particularly close growing up, Jack was kind of protective of him.
When Alma died, Jack came to stay with Richard for a few weeks.
I haven’t seen it (because 1. I don’t have Hulu and 2. If they were going to make something new set in the Love, Simon ‘verse, why not a Leah on the Offbeat adaptation?) but apparently in Love, Victor at one point Simon’s family comes to visit offscreen and he and Bram are busy for a few days “showing them around the city” so anyway that’s definitely Mary Anne and in typical BSC fashion she’s brought all her friends with her. (Chaperones: Richard and maybe also Sharon, who’s pleased to catch up with Jack and Emily.)
When Richard and Sharon get engaged, everyone starts ribbing Simon and Bram about marrying your high school sweetheart running in the family.
When the girls turn this on Mary Anne about Logan Richard immediately stops finding it funny while Sharon just laughs at him.
Feel free to add

#15 Little Miss Stoneybrook...and Dawn: Chapter 13
Finally, the pageant has arrived!
Pageant time! More opportunities for Dawn to critique others! Dawn invites Sharon to come to the pageant. Why? She says Sharon can sit with Richard Spier her “old friend.” Why the hell would Richard be there? And in yet another sign that she has no faith in Claire and Margo, she says the pageant will be funny, uh, she means fun. Ouch.
Mallory answers the Pikes' door, looking "murderous." Uh oh...are we down one Pike? No, Mallory sends Dawn upstairs and says the two girls are driving the family nuts. Dawn enters their room and finds Margo and Claire rehearsing, surrounded by a pile of dresses and hair ribbons and shoes on the floor. Kind of like if a Gap Kids exploded. Dee comes in to save the day, and an hour later, the girls are dressed and have all their outfits folded away, along with a curling iron and some other stuff. Mrs. Pike drops them off and leaves, probably to get a cocktail to celebrate that she isn't the one doing this pageant crap.
They go in and find the 13 other little girls. Some are getting dressed or getting their hair curled or acting the diva like pageant queens do. Margo points in shock at one girl wearing nail polish and Claire shouts, "OMG THAT GIRL'S WEARING MAKEUP!" She's never subtle, is she? Of course, Margo points out Myriah rehearsing and remarks how good she is, like really good, since she's so perfect. She freaks out that Dawn forgot her banana, she didn't, phew. All of Margo's nervousness seems to have come out of nowhere...
Dawn and the girls meet Mrs. Bunting, the pageant coordinator. She's described as a “stout woman, with iron-gray hair piled on her head.” That makes me imagine her with a huge beehive, like Marge Simpson. She seems to think Dawn is their big sister, which delights Margo and Claire. They study the lineup; Claire is going on after Myriah (so you know she has no chance in hell) and Margo is going on after...ladies and gentlemen, we have our first ever mention of the Incredible Aging Sabrina Bouvier! She's in her younger phase here and Margo points her out right away as the girl wearing all the makeup. And Dawn even says she's wearing “plenty of it, I might add.” She's judging Sabrina the Younger just like she judges Sabrina the Elder!
While Claire and Margo gawk at the girls done up like little Marilyn Monroes, Dawn sizes up her competition. She also observes how incredibly good Myriah is and says she has “true talent.” The foreshadowing here is so freakin thick you could cut it with a knife. Kristy is “nervously” brushing the Demon Child's Karen's hair...Kristy nervous? What alternate universe are we in? If anything, why isn't she passing out BSC fliers to the stage moms? And Charlotte looks scared to death...well, yeah! She shouldn't be there and Claudia was wrong to even make her do it.
Claudia says she's nervous, so does Margo (more foreshadowing!) and Charlotte says she wishes she never agreed to do this (wow! Even more foreshadowing). Poor Charlotte. A voice offers advice on getting rid of the Pageant Jitters...it's Sabrina Bouvier the Younger. The girl who looks Margo's age and acts like she's 25, as Dawn puts it. Notice how all the mean girls are always snobby and sophisticated but the BSC fawns all over Stacey because she's so sophisticated? Weird.
She introduces herself as Sabrina and curtsies because she's a lady I guess. She tells them she's been in six pageants and starts to teach them some breathing exercises (I guess she teaches LaMaze on the side too) before Kris Jenner her mother (who Dawn points out is wearing even more jewelry and makeup and perfume, which automatically makes her evil) hauls her away to meet the judges.
Claudia, in a rare moment of intelligence, says she pities Sabrina because she's a “pageant head,” is obviously being forced to do this by her mom, and that her life is “one big smile.” Dawn's only comment is that the seven-year-old Sabrina isn't pretty and Claudia adds she probably isn't very talented either. The BSC never lets us down when it comes to judging others, even children!
The BSC members sit together as Mrs. Bunting explains the pageant and Dawn watches the other moms and takes note that Mrs. Bouvier stares intently at her daughter. Not to be confused with this Mrs. Bouvier:
Tumblr media
Mary Anne says she's nervous too (no surprise there) and that Myriah freaked out that morning because she lost another tooth. So you see...even Myriah Perkins isn't 100% perfect after all.

The Baby-Sitters Club Recap: Holla at Moi - Vulture

Welcome to Sea City, sitters! It’s Spring Break (this fictional year is flying by and I don’t hate it) and Stacey and Mary Anne have been tasked with the BSC’s first-ever travel job: They’ll be heading to the beach for the week to watch the eight Pike kids. Yes, friends, that’s “Pike” as in Mallory Pike. I imagine many viewers already know who Mallory is in the grand lore of The Baby-Sitters Club, but just in case I’ll only say that the eldest Pike will be back at a later date.
Stacey and Mary Anne are excited to get paid to go on vacation (Richard Spier is a mess, obviously), but the other girls are already missing their friends. Sure, it’s only a week but these girls are Best Friends Forever. The capital letters mean it’s serious. Didn’t you want to squeeze your way into that group hug? The two sitters who are going away have lots of plans for a fun yet responsible week. Kristy is already all over them about keeping the BSC Code of Conduct even while in a different zip code. Things seem to start out just as great as Stacey and Mary Anne planned, aside from multiple vomit incidents in the car ride and some less-than-ideal weather, but all those plans get hurled in the cold, harsh sea the moment Scott the Lifeguard shows up.
Who is Scott the Lifeguard, you ask? Some dummy 17-year-old who slo-mos himself into Stacey’s heart even though he barely notices her insane amount of flirting, patronizingly calls her “cutie,” gives her his trash — excuse me, his lifeguard whistle — and also is I guess responsible for people’s lives on that beach. Anyway, this may be Stacey’s episode, but let’s be honest: Mary Anne is the real hero here. She immediately recognizes that Stacey is being a little ridiculous, (1) because of the inappropriate age difference, and (2) because um, those ladies have a job to do and Stacey is blowing it off to bring Scott drinks and … pose endearingly in his general vicinity while he ignores her?
Mary Anne is not thrilled with having to watch the eight Pikes by herself. She’s especially not thrilled when they bury her in the sand and leave her for the seagulls. Luckily, two very nice age-appropriate boys, Alex and Cousin Toby from Canada, help her out. They hit it off because those boys are delightful and I very much approve of tweens who already tell dad jokes. When Stacey learns that Scott is going to Burger Garden where he’ll be “slamming burgers” — a phrase that will bring me joy for years to come — she hijacks their one night off to “bump into him” there. Mary Anne has Alex and Cousin Toby come along and Stacey proceeds to ignore them all, even though Toby is clearly into her. She decides that she’ll win Scott over with a box of chocolates, proving once and for all that she should in no way be pursuing a 17-year-old. Stick with Sam, Stace! Sam is uncomplicated! Sam draws blenders!
She utterly humiliates herself in front of Scott and his high-school friends. Toby tries to save the day, but the damage is done. Back at the Pike beach house, Stacey learns that little Byron Pike has a massive crush on her and she has to explain that he’s just too young and it puts the whole situation in perspective. Thankfully, she has come to this realization with enough time for one great beach day. She “didn’t care if some boy knew who [she] was, because [she] knew.” Ah jeez, these girls are growing up right before our very eyes!
This also means that she can apologize to Mary Anne for being a terrible friend, although she did buy them cheesy matching airbrush shirts, and that’s not nothing. Plus Mary Anne has her own silver lining: She used to be so intimidated by how cool and sophisticated she thought Stacey was and now she’s learned that she’s just a big dork like the rest of them. Honestly, that’s a lesson to keep with you no matter your age. Oh and also, Toby shows up to say good-bye to Stacey with his own gift and she plants a kiss on the kid. Her very first kiss. Sea City isn’t so bad after all.
Back in Stoneybrook, Kristy is also starting to see someone in a different way: She might finally be coming around on Watson Brewer. She’s tasked with baby-sitting Karen and Andrew. She tricks them into doing some chores, which I guess includes washing Watson’s fancy car that he doesn’t really drive. Kristy manages to get herself locked in a mud room of sorts, hoping to find some — ahem — dirt on Watson and has to watch in horror as Karen and Andrew “wash” the car with steel wool.
Watson calls Kristy (he has to block his number to get her to answer, Kristy is hilarious) to give her the chance to come clean. She spills everything and Watson is way more understanding than Kristy deserves. He tells her that he has no secrets stashed away in mud rooms, he’s a regular guy. Also he doesn’t think they need to tell Liz about this. He is a cool dude! Kristy starts to soften and quickly tells him that she actually really likes her new bedroom in his house and then immediately hangs up before he can respond. He seems so happy about it. He’s making progress!
• Oh, Sharon and Richard are so on again. Dawn and Mary Anne are tired of this break their parents are on and so begin their Parent Trap plan (complete with the full handshake — they’re real fans!). The “plan” is mainly just Dawn calling up Richard and pretending to be her mom, but she’s a terrible actress. Even if she hadn’t given it away before she invited Richard over for “wine on the rocks” that really would’ve done it. Just the reminder of Sharon pushes Richard to offer an olive branch by way of a pet turtle (“turtle” was her pet name for him in high school) and a note that says “sorry I went back into my shell.” Honestly, buying someone a pet isn’t a gift, it’s a job, but we’ll take it because Sharon and Richie are made for each other.
• Vanessa Pike, the one in a dark and twisty “poetry phase,” is another great addition to the Quirky Kids of Stoneybrook. I love them all!
• There are a lot of embarrassing things you could say to the older boy you like but “Holla at moi” is very much toward the top of that list.
• “Mary Anne, talk to him. Or else you’re gonna spend the rest of your life wondering if his legs feel like Jell-O when he sees you.” Alex!!!
• Okay, so we’ve met Mal — where’s Jessi??

[Critique] Silent Hill- 2006, Christophe Gans .
Tumblr media
WHAT ELSE?
Tumblr media
*CONCLUSION*

Another life ruined
I want to tell you another story. I want to tell you the story of Jonno and Richard. You already know what happened with John and Ivan. Jonno lyed to Ivan that he was single to sleep with him. He has done the same to Richard while he was with Ivan. Jonno told Rishard he split up with Ivan and they were just friends. John told that lie in march this years. But Jonno was still with Ivan and all he wanted was sex. So he made Rishard believe he wanted to date and be in a relationship with him. From day one John turned the chat about sex telling Richard he wanted to "suck him off" and "fuck him hard in the ass". The story with Jonno and Richard is very similar to what happened with Ivan. John contonues with his way of hiding the the truth just so he can get laid. Risch is now struggling with his feelings as he finds out he was fucked for nothing. A few days after Rich finds the truth Jonno stops talking to him. He splits with both Ivan and Rich and contonies. He moves to Dan. Dan seems sweet and trusting. He buys his story too. It is early July and Jonno is already sleeping with Dan and telling him how he was cheated on in his last relationship. John tells Dan he was left heart broken, harassed, attacked. He knows this is not true but he also knows he has done it before and it worked. Jonno knows it is ok to make up stories to have sex with people and get money from them. We need to stop Jonno as this is enough. Noone can be lied to and taken advantage of. John is going to keep do this until he can and until he gets away with it.
