On my fetch quest to retrieve Xander's assigned color from the DRDT Demo Video, I noticed something interesting-- where everybody stands in the Class Trial totally changed between the demo video and now???

Like I said, almost completely different. Here are a couple of my observations that I thought were most interesting:

Teruko and Eden are the only characters who stayed in the same location. Teruko always stood in front of MonoTV, and Eden was always to her right.

Arei and Hu always stood next to each other.

Veronika and Levi always stood next to each other, although they flipped which order they were standing in.

Originally, Xander was in the position opposite the circle from Teruko. Now, that's where David stands.

I have no idea what any of this might mean, and it might be completely arbitrary. Still, it's interesting what might have been going through the creator's head when they originally chose the demo placements, and then when those placements changed.

For y'all's review for the AU: A Prequel Outline - Divorce Saga Domon

Hey real quick - I'm thinking of maybe changing the timeline to 2 years post canon as opposed to 3 years and change post canon.

The reason being: I had a thought that this scene could either be part if the fic or if it's getting to big then it could be a stand alone tie-in prequel fic as part of this AU but - like

Immediately Post Divorce Domon Needs Space and runs off. As one does. And he runs to Earth because he just wants to Get Lost for a while.

He has Argo smuggle him out to avoid detection.

Argo has Andrew help stow Domon in a storage hanger of a Neo Canadian supply ship that's returning to the US - they have trade often enough and share agricultural resources - which leads to Domon ending up in New York when he hits Earthside pavement.

He's privately worked on his English the last couple of months and after being dropped in New York with a different hairstyle, outfit, and accent he's unrecognizable. 

He considers making his way west to get some solitude in the wilderness, but something about that initial plan feels off now that he's on the ground.

Chibodee is also Earthside for a special series of prize fights aimed at raising charitable appeal for the US in the eyes of Neo Americans.

Domon decides to hit up Chibodee for a fight on a day between matches hoping it'll clear his head and give him the clarity to decide on a course of action. What ends up happening is an unexpected heart to heart via blows and a breakdown.

Domon is happy for Rain and Kyoji, and he knows it's not true; but he feels like he lost a piece of himself when his relationship with Rain fell apart.

Domon's instinct is to run after that but Chibodee knows this city and Domon doesn't hide out for long before Chibodee drags him back to his place to stay and just "Chill out and breathe. You don't have to be anyone but yourself here. You can take as long as you need to find out what everything changing means for you." Friends and teammates stick together.

So Domon spends a few weeks with Chibodee sparring and hanging out in New York. Chibodee does a frankly awesome job at containing his feelings because he's focusing on Domons feelings and being a good friend first and foremost. Whatever he's feeling can wait until after Domon is done going though it.

There's a bit of a twinge in Domon's heart as he leaves that he can't really place.

After he returns to Neo Japan and gets settled back into life with his family, The Dreams start.

They're mainly set in New York. Small things first like noticing Chibodee's smile and his eyes. Then sparring sessions that begin to turn lurid.

He thought these kinds of dreams would stop after he was married.... he doesn't know what to do about this.

I just figure it gives more clarity and sense of time for the journey from Comphet Marriage Dissolution to Feelings to Confession. Idk.

But I got stuck on a bit and then had this thought and needed to get it down before I lost it and it was so long it made sense to make it its own post as opposed to several replies.

The Maize and Clown Motel will probably still be 3 years and change post canon for clarification.

Once they had a breakthrough - Schwarz was sent abroad with a small military group and Doctors Without Borders group to assist #With immediate infection cases on behalf of Neo Japan as part of reparations. So Domon hadn't seen him in quite some time. #Domon certainly wasn't expecting to see him in the garden when he rounded the corner of the Mikamura residence #Leaned over Kyoji who appears to have been working outside on his laptop. Fingers intertwined a hand on Kyojis jaw and locked in a kiss. #Which ends pretty much instantly as they sense Domon and break apart. It occurs to Kyoji and Schwarz that Kyoji never #Got the chance to actually tell Domon much about himself and the man he'd grown into while Domon was training in Hong Kong with Master Asia #This might be a pretty significant shock to him. #I can't decide between Domon running from his Gay Revelation or IMMEDIATELY Losing His Shit at the thought of Rain's SECOND marriage ending #And knowing for sure now the reason why his and Rain's marriage didn't work out. He really does prefer men. #Bu HOW DARE Kyoji do this to her!!! She's been through enough!!!! This will HURT her SO BADLY!!! (Projection of guiiillllttt) #Back to square 1 fir a moment like damn #And once he starts fighting Kyoji about it (Thank God the ressurection gave them the option to make Kyojis new build similar to Schwarz's) #It comes out that Rain cant go through this AGAIN and he won't let him do this to her! Her honor means something to Domon #And it should mean something to Kyoji too as HER HUSBAND #Kyoji and Schwarz catch on the Again bit and Kyoji makes it clear that Rain has known about his situation with Schwarz since they returned #That they're quite literally inseparable and that Rain married him knowing this. She's fully aware and an active participant. #Domon takes a leg sweep and doesn't quite make his recovery as Schwarz steps in #Pinning his arms and one leg in place so he can't run from Kyojis question. For anyone wondering:

- the eternal wakestone you get for killing the sphinx is VERY misleading, it is a one time use only NOT reusable like the name suggests

- it costs 120k to get it duplicated BUT

- the copy doesn't work

So be careful when you use it. This is not a solution to the dragonsplague, so do watch out for signs that a pawn in your party is sick.

Practice good pawn care and regularly toss them off cliffs or into rivers.

I just really hate milkvan reasoning that byler shouldn’t be endgame because that would leave el hopeless and heartbroken.

I mean, even if you don’t see the possibility of byler, it’s still pretty apparent why milkvan endgame would in itself be poor writing.

From s1, it’s obvious el has a lot of trauma, seeing as she grew up in the lab as a kid, goes through all that shit with brenner and the whole henry/vecna/001 thing is so traumatizing for her that she didn’t even remember time much later.

And throughout, she is quite out of touch with basic vocabulary concepts and differentiating between the concepts of actually liking/being attracted to someone vs valuing the idea of a romantic relationship and reaching for the other person to have a sense of that safety.

Her s2 arc is also important in terms of her trying to find her place, getting to know her roots and working on her powers. And as significant as it is for her growth, it’s important to note mike isn’t central to it. El’s arc is very separate from the route they’re taking with milkvan’s relationship. El’s development seems to take place when she’s apart from mike.

By s3, it’s pretty clear from what el tells max that she doesn’t actually know what she likes yet. She’s still figuring herself out as a person and exploring her likes and dislikes. And the thing is, she’s already in a relationship without a proper idea of her preferences yet. She still needs to “try things on” until she finds something that feels like her, something that max specifies, isn’t “mike or hopper” but rather her.

And yeah, this is just a fun little bonding for the mall scene but it is quite indicative of the fact that el is still finding herself out. She even admits to max she doesn’t even know if he’s a good kisser because mike is her first boyfriend. She hasn’t had experience with any of it. And that’s part of the problem. She’s already in a relationship with mike without even a clear, basic sense of self. She doesn’t even know if she likes mike yet, rather than just the idea of him and the security that she associates with him.

But anyway, her friendship with max in s3 is so important to her development as a character because she’s with a girl her age finally beginning to realize that romantic relationships aren’t everything. And sure the milkvan break-up is sort of played off as a joke, but it’s also el kind of exploring her new found freedom and knowledge, experiencing being a regular kid.

Max opens her up to the idea of knowing her self worth. And I do feel like this is important because of the almost overwhelming presence of male authority imposed on her and controlling a lot of her childhood (and it was pretty unhealthy esp with brenner and henry).

But it’s the s4 conflict where her insecurities really come to light. And the thing is milkvan doesn’t get better. In fact el feels like she isn’t loved, not the way she wants to be (yeah ik we take interviews with a grain of salt but I keep thinking about the way the actors specified "want") and it’s like the whole idea she had of their relationship crumbles.

And I can’t shake mike’s attire in the airport scene and how will’s sadness was emphasized/focused on in rink-o-mania. And it just feels like both mike and el are trying desperately to keep up normal appearances. That’s also solidified with El’s little disappointed glance to seeing from mike on the flowers, though she keeps lying throughout.

She feels a need to do that. Maybe by showing him how great she’s adjusting, maybe as a way to show she has things handled and prove herself to be “normal” especially since it’s something she’s struggling with in s4. It could also be linked with mike’s omission of “i love yous” in the letters which may have contributed to fueling that insecurity.

And when mike tells her that she’s a superhero it doesn’t help her feel better and it isn’t what she wants or needs to hear. This is literally her face after hearing it. She’s disappointed and if anything, more insecure about it.

And seeing that the note she leaves mike is signed from el, she is deliberately making a point of it. The whole thing is pretty break-up coded. She’s come to some sort of realization about their relationship.

El does care for mike, but since they don’t really have a solid foundation for attraction (especially since s2 mike makes his view on the love at first sight thing pretty clear with max) and el doesn’t have experience with it either, nor does she share a different bond with mike through their interests, ability to understand each other or in any way that indicates they understand each other for their own person.

And actually, mike is CONSTANTLY putting her on a pedestal. The s3 scene where he thinks everyone is using el for her powers and demanding too much of her? It pretty much contradicts itself since mike himself was the one who saw el as a hope, a means to find will in s1. And he’s amazed by her.

He canonically thinks he doesn’t deserve her and it makes me think of that scene with dustin at the beginning where mike makes some sort of comment about el saving the world and dustin says something about how mike is still failing spanish or something.

And I think it also kind of falls in line with mike’s own insecurities and possibly feelings of inferiority with el. He compares her to literal superman. And the thing is, they could’ve really went somewhere with this if they wanted. It could’ve been a conflict that, if it had been resolved well, could strengthen milkvan.

Though another thing is with everything mike has said about el in this context, it just further contradicts the monologue because a big part of what mike sees el for IS her powers. Does he care for her? Of course. But mike doesn’t understand el’s struggles with power and who she is without it and though she fascinates him nothing really goes to indicate that he understands her. Just as not much goes to indicate that she understands him.

And the fact that there have been so many outside factors influencing their relationship (ESPECIALLY lucas and will too in s4) and helping them through those problems rather then them facing the conflict themselves with each other is a pretty big indicator that milkvan just does not work on that level. El didn’t tell mike about being bullied because she feels alienated to the extent that she feels her boyfriend wouldn’t understand her and mike doesn’t tell el about his true feelings or insecurities ; he deflects instead, and blames others ("you can’t let these mouth-breathers ruin you. ruin us").

And instead he confides in his relationship insecurities to will. Which, honestly, if there was hope for milkvan, he and el would’ve atleast had a conversation where mike’s own feelings and insecurities were taken into account. And instead it’s will who tells him what he wants and needs to hear. Will reassures him of his place in the party. His importance. Why he is needed.

So yeah. El might be upset, yes, but I think it’s already been leading up to a break-up and nothing indicates that el has something to lose in terms of her long time happiness or independence from not dating mike. Will on the other hand, loves mike, as a person and as his best friend from when they were children. Mike who’s soft on will, mike who was constantly there for him when he was going through all sorts of shit and being possessed by the mindflayer. Mike who said that being friends with will is "the best thing" he’s ever done.

And not letting them have this when the foundation, dynamics, relationship is right there is just a very tragic storyline. So will suffers through hell, gets possessed, loses a part of his childhood just to never get it back because all his friends have moved past it and are more interested in girls, and so dnd, which has been a reminder of all their good, happy times before the upside down is just reduced to a childish fancy and on top of that he’s in love with his BEST FRIEND and not only used the painting he made for mike in the first place to further his relationship with his girlfriend, but also hurt himself in the process by "ripping the bandaid"

“Carmine is not the worst” and “kieran is not the worst” are statements that can and should co-exist

No I enjoy drawing her like that lol #Made some design notes about the important elements of what I want for her True Villain look - more than just ''Her but Kaiein influence'' #I'd still really like a nod to dragon scales of some kind but honestly her classic design is more that #Always going on about her spider theming how to make it dragony! It's the one thing I'm still hung up on lol #As for the rest I think it's Really getting close :) I got to actually turn her little ''shawl'' - I always knew it was Kaiein-related - #Into something that properly mimics his shape! It's all controlled by her tho it's not a part of his body - just magic-infused matter #Made to look like him so there's still that creep factor but it's more her body than his - she can control its shape :D #And I got to keep the jewels! Yesss - made it a motif! Now it's also on her hips and knees to break up her visual space yes very good #It's drips :) Y'know - like ink :) Finally figured that one out lol good job setting up my own symbolism me #And then some elegant drapey bits to match her ''shawl'' and continue to break up her space!! Yes! Good!! #I still haven't decided on a colour palette I think black and white is too obvious and too Kaiein but hmmm - she has a lot of colours #Lots of options to pick from but which is the Correct one - her hair would stay pink so maybe some of her pinks or purples #I'll play with some digital swatches later :) #I'm also so glad I could implement the hood design from one of the scrapped outfits ah <3 I love her in a hood she's so cute #I'm rather pleased with the way the spider web design breaks up her form as well - it's more subdued than the full bottom/shoes stripes but #It's also not very clear here lol the long ones that all the way down to her feet are the third from the center ignore that second one #The second lines out from the center host her wings! Very important! #Kinda reminds me of my holosona in a way actually :0 They /are/ both Evil-aligned hmmmm #All the more reason to colour palette!
