I think the ending being kind of ambiguous is really nice! It has this bittersweet sort of feel to it that you don't really get with hanahaki ideas very often if at all and it was an immensely beautiful read especially with the later pages being all Aizawa POV! I loved it from start to finish so thank you very much for sharing it with us!
Awww, that is what I was hopping! It makes me very happy to hear it came through 🖤
All of the story leading up to a POV shift had been the plan from the beginning, so we could understand what had been going through Shouta's head. We didn't get to see a few of the details of Aizawa's POV, either because I couldn't work them in organically, or because they would have made the story drag, or ruined the pacing, but I got to show the most vital parts of it and the emotion he was going through.
For example, something I couldn't really portray without spelling it out was that once Hizashi had confessed to Shouta in his delirium, Aizawa couldn't actually confront him about the flowers anymore, because it could have doomed him. Since the disease depends on the perspective of the person infected, if Aizawa had revealed what he knew and confessed anyway there would be a risk that Hizashi wouldn't have believed him, thinking he was doing it to save him, meaning he would be fucked and there wouldn't be much Shouta could have done at this point (similarly, if Hizashi got convinced Shouta loved him back he'd be healed regardless of whether or not it was true. Which thankfully is not the case in this story). So that's why every time Hizashi drifts off, or starts coughing, risking compromising his secret, Shouta distracts him and deflects.
Little lore dump you didn't ask for but I was looking for the opportunity to share xD Thank you so much for the sweet words, sincerely. I was incredibly worried about disappointing people with that end but it was the original vision and I stuck to it. Everyone has been very sweet and kind with it too, so it makes me happy.
Thank you once more for reading and enjoying! Have a wonderful day 🌸

Okay so
Now that this is the end
Remember when you answered that ask and posted Hanahaki spoiler without context?
I may be dumb but even now I'm.confused about it xD
Could you expain what they meant please?
By the way I absolutely l o v e d following the comic. Everything from the artstyle to the story was absolutely beautiful
Oh, my! You are so right, I forgot to address that although I had it in the back of my mind xD You are not dumb, you are very valid considering how incredibly vague they were, as well as scene specific. Ok so, this is not an exact 1/1 but I will elaborate further:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1- Ok, the first one was not- in fact- about both of them being stupid. Although the person that had interpreted this as such was very right. So, it is heavily implied and some people caught it but I think some might have not and not everyone was around when we had been talking about it here, that Hizashi did in fact get the surgery the first time around, when they were still in school. In the flashback you see him taking a moment to remember Aizawa because of it, so the first picture was (maybe a bit of a tease) symbolizing the memory erasure. 👀
2- The second is so much more easy to explain xD It was just the glass of water Shouta gave Hizashi when he woke up.
3- Is just as easy, and while it could have honestly been applied to any part of the story, I actually had the spread page in mind when I had put that photo there 😌
4- EMERGENCY MEETING- Called by Cyan. The colour choice was important eheheh, because that picture was a reference to the flashback. Where Oboro and Shouta had an "emergency meeting" to talk about Hizashi.
And this clears out that ehehe, it was so much fun when I had posted it and seeing everyone's guesses of it 💕 Hope this wasn't much of an underwhelming answer xD
Thank you very much!! 💚

In your Erasermic hanahaki comic, how long has Mic been coughing up petals/flowers? Did the incident with the girl occur during high school or later on in life? I know I'm sorta late to the party, but I just had to ask.
🌸 Hello! Don't worry, you're welcome at any point.
Mic was infected by the Hanahaki quirk in high school, yes. It is implied (very subtly, sorry about that) in the flashback that he had the surgical procedure to remove the flowers, which stopped them (and removed his romantic feelings toward Shouta) for a while.
Inevitably, Mic fell in love with Shouta again down the line, and started coughing up petals once more until the quirk user offered to stilt its growth. A good solution that they warned him, wasn't permanent. That was around his early twenties.
The plant was still there, but dormant. He hadn't coughed up petals for years, until the Tartarus visit broke the spell, which brings us to the start of the comic.

Ooo that doesn't quite look like aizawa :0 im excited to see who it is!!
It's because he is not wearing black, isn't it? I understand the confusion. I was really debating and overthinking about that too! Damn. Listen, he is borrowing one of Hizashi's shirts, anditcontrastswellwithhishairnowthatheisnotwearinghisscarforhasittiedup, ok? No white or colorful clothes in Aizawa's wardrobe.

Wait to stop the flowers from essentially suffocating him does aizawa have to love him back?
🌸 He does but it is not enough. The quirk feeds on the infected person’s perception of reality.
🌸 Which means for him to be cured, Mic will have to believe that his feelings are reciprocated. Even if Shouta straight up said he loves Hizashi, the flowers wouldn’t go away if Hizashi wasn’t convinced it was true.
🌸 It works the other way around too. If Shouta said he loves him and managed to convince him, the flowers would go away. Even if Shouta was lying about loving him back.

Wait, was the sudden surprise look Mic realizing that he still had feelings? ;-;
No... That’s not it.
Let's see, since it won’t be expanded on verbally in the comic, I’ll try to explain it.
I think I have a quote from my favorite Podcast (Wolf 359) that comes close to describing what Hizashi is feeling:
“It's weird. Everything's here... more or less. But it's... shifted around. Like someone went to your house and moved everything just a tiny bit. So little that you don't even notice anything's off until you try to find something. And then you can't find anything”.
Also another one from The Reptile Room (A Series of Unfortunate Events):
“It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try to readjust the way you thought of things”.
Hope they give the picture.

Soooo... the pain he felt when he realised he didn’t love Shota anymore is what prevented him from going through the surgery, and getting rid of those feelings permanently? Or am I misunderstanding something?
I don’t know how much pain he felt, seeing as there was nothing for him TO feel. I think he mostly realizes he was supposed to be feeling something.
Losing these feelings as they re-grew may have played part on his decision, but I think someone on Twitter got pretty close to the thought process. They said:
I’m thinking current Mic’s decisions were formed due to this event. That he knows how important to his life Aizawa has been and therefore has accepted his end? That he sees death as preferable over losing a large chunk of his memory and life with Aizawa again.
Which is pretty accurate.

Present day Shouta suspect things with Hizashi are more serious than a cold, right? Or... does he *know*?
I think he probably knows that Hizashi is not being completely honest with him. They’ve known each other for a long time, I am assuming they have a good grasp of each other’s tells.

Sorry, I’m dumb. If the girl removes the disease, then he forgets... what? Shouta? It’s arbitrary? They’re not sure? A lot of things? Nothing in particular, just random things? The triggers for the petals?
You are not dumb!!! It’s a legitemate question. 🌸
The answer is that even in the story they are not sure. They know it has to do with the feelings themselves and how deeply they run (they are what triggers the petals). But human emotions aren’t something you can just set in stone, they are unpredictable. So even the quirk user wouldn’t be able to tell Hizashi for sure what he would be forgetting if the plant was removed.
As it has been set from past experience, it could be anything between the feelings themselves, to key memories with the person, to bigger chunks of memories, to the person all together.
It is pretty uncertain.

Do Aizawa fell guilty because he made hizashi apologyice for not dying in place of oboro? (In ur comic)
Shouta is in a roller coaster of emotions at the moment.
He hasn’t been able to process what he feels yet, because I don’t think he had seen the apology coming and I doubt he had any idea Hizashi felt that way. If he feels guilty about anything, it would probably be about missing Hizashi’s pain and for playing any part of enabling that mentality.
He didn’t make Hizashi apologize for anything and he is not responsible for what Hizashi is feeling  or saying. He can only feel bad on what part he played in it getting there, intentionally or unintentionally.

There’s one thing I’m confused about. Could Hizashi be saved if he undergoes surgery now? Or is it already too late for that?
Good question! The answer is no. He is way past the point of having the plant removed from his lungs safely by surgery. That would probably kill him, since the plant is way too entangled in his lungs.
However there is still the option for the quirk user to remove it for him.

How long has this emo/prep duo been pining in your comic? Was there an ‘oh sh*t’ moment when they realised?
They have been pining since their UA days.
Hizashi knew he had a crush on Shouta pretty early on. Shouta probably took some time. I think he was in love with Hizashi for a while without realizing it. He probably had the ‘oh’ moment after Oboro’s death.
Up to now they have both been pining for at least 15 years.
