Shipping should have always been just a fun pastime but alas, the shippings wars have soured everyone over it. I still remember when after one certain specifically colored panel of Tangle and Whisper, some twitter lunatics went on a round saying that shipping Tangle and Whisper with literally anyone other than each other is forbidden now because it's not just "muh canon!" its also "muh rep!", with people shipping SilverxWhisper and SonicxTangle taking most of the hits. Another part of the shipping community that's becoming a slight pet peeve of mine is when they do comic page edits to "make them less straight", usually by overdoing the blushing so much the characters start looking like they are either drunk or are having a fever.

I remember that tweet. It's exactly the obnoxious "shipping is activism" behavior I can't stand. A fanart where Silver and Whisper look at each other blushing is not going to invalidate the literal lesbian flag that is in the comic. Also c'mon, as if Sonangle and Silvisper are even remotely as popular as Whispangle by now! It's the fan favorite couple! You're just lording over the superiority of your ship while pretending to fight for the dignity of real life lesbians :\

I saw the same thing in the SU fandom, a person being harassed for a joke comic where Mystery Girl made 👀 eyes at Greg pissing Pearl off. That counted as lesbian erasure, apparently. bruh. bruh you think a fanart would erase the lesbianism of Steven Motherfucking Universe? I understand fighting against misconceptions but holy shit pick harder battles to fight

(not even worth pointing out that in fandom it's massively more common to pick characters canonically straight and depict them as gay or bi. It's also not uncommon to say that a female bi character in a relationship with a woman is actually a lesbian. also i remind of that full comic headcanoning amy rose as a lesbian who only crushed on sonic because of "comphet". but those are okay :) )

What made you ship it?

Man, these two! I ship it so hard. They are literally perfect for each other. From the very first moment they fought together, side by side, something drew them together (soulmates your honour). Whisper being the distant one but immediately hanging out with Tangle because she takes a genuine liking towards her (which is hard for her since she doesn't trust easily, right?) And Tangle being the extrovert who always supports her and is proud of her (and her jokes, which, is so cute to think about; how Whisper made jokes and all that but only in front of Tangle). All the moments between them show why they love each other (let me remind u how heartbroken Whisper was when Tangle became a zombot) and that's what made me ship it.

2. What are your favourite things about the ship?

I love their chemistry. The introverted and extroverted partners trope is one of my favourites, especially when the extroverted one brings the best out of the other (see sonaze sdljkhflsg). They always work so well together and they are very protective of one another and they affect each other in different ways (like when Tangle manages to calm down Whisper in issue 32 without even trying so hard) and even though they have different goals in life, they know that they can't live without the other (like when Tangle has to choose between Whisper and the restoration and she can barely focus on anything else). Girlfriends <3

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on the ship?

It should be canon (is that unpopular?). It reminds me of sonaze for many reasons and maybe that's part of why I love it so much. Also, it should be way more popular. What do you mean Silvisper is more popular than Whispangle? Get the hell outta here, that's some other level bullshit. Whispangle deserves the best <3

Hey I’m back with a crappy OC as usual! She’s in the Sing verse and Sonic verse(mashing my two fave fandoms for the hell of it)

This is Roxanne “Spark” Prower, she’s called Roxy, or Spark for short.

Sonic verse bio: she is Tails’ chaotic younger sister, who showed up as a baby on his doorstep.

The note found was horrifying, stating that tails’ parents wanted a normal baby, but after the “disaster that he turned out to be'' they tried again and got Roxy. Surprisingly, the baby girl had electricity powers, the ability to harness lightning, and multicolored ears. Since they wanted nothing to do with her “defects” they dumped her with him, wrapped in a leaf and torn cardboard box.

He brought her to the whole group, who immediately took to her as everyone’s little sis. She grew up with Princess Tsunami(an OC belonging to my BFF, IAMGINGERFUR from YouTube), who is Blaze’s little sister(her bio is coming soon).

Together they cause trouble, and travel around dimensions, helping others far and wide. They’re notorious for crashing their older siblings' dates(Tailsmo and Silvaze, NO REGRETS, no matter how cute taiream, zails and silvisper(sorry I think whispagle is cute)is), bugging Silver to take them time traveling, driving their big brother and sister up the wall, and “borrowing” candy from the kitchens.

Her main pet peeve is when anyone calls her Sparky, the only two she won’t electrocute is her brother(who calls her that regularly) and Tsunami(who calls her that to annoy her).

Sing verse: Roxy is an orphan, having been hiding from social services since the fire that took her parents and brother.

She performs as a singer and tambourine dancer on the street, and stumbles into the theater during a thunderstorm, trying to find refuge. She blacks out and wakes up in a bed surrounded by Nooshy, Ash, Porsha, and Meena. She explains what happened and refuses to reveal any details. Nooshy, having been there herself, understands, but refuses to let her go back to the streets.

They introduce her to the rest of the cast, and Roxy performs a stunning audition, leading to Buster remarking that she has a spark when she’s onstage, a glow of the likes he’d only seen in his cast members.

This is the start of her nickname, the only ones who call her Sparky are Nooshy and Porsha. She grows comfortable with them and does eventually share her backstory, especially when recurring nightmares happen. She lives with Porsha and Buster, in the suites of the newly named Moon Entertainment. Yada yada yada I’ll probably do another explanation vid with tsunami(IAMGINGERFUR), just us yapping about OC backstory, the usual.

There you are! I lost you in my notes briefly but I knew I saw you!

Anyone else remember when they introduced Whisper and they were suggesting her and Silver might be a thing maybe? Because I do, LMAO. But then we all started yelling "PUT HER WITH THE LESBIAN!" and I'm so glad we did, because they're GREAT!

(Sorry... Silvisper fans? Is that their ship name? I don't even know. You guys are valid too but boy Whispangle kinda took over the show lmao)

I'm a multishipper, so I'm always open to hearing other ship options, but Whispangle is my favorite Tangle ship and my favorite Whisper ship. I love them so much. Lesbians win.
