Hah, I’m the last person to ship real people. However, I do go based on facts. I think it’s adorable that Mindy said NHIE is based kind of on her life. Because she’s always said she was a nerd in HS who fantasized about hot guys.

And she went to an Ivy League college. And clearly Devi & Ben both went to go to ivy’s… like BJ Novak. Short white guy, blue eyes, went to an Ivy. Fights but loves each other. It’s just a cute parallel.

It cut open my chest and ripped out my heart. then it burrowed inside my body filling the hole it created.

I read this before we were wives or best friends or I even knew you. It HAUNTS me. I remember reading it for the first time at like 2 am, sobbing, trying not to wake Abel up. and then I finished it and immediately read it again.

The depiction of mental illness and addiction struck me to my core. The "left behind" feeling that I am all too familiar with hit me like a ton of bricks.

I have never read a piece of fiction that resonates with me more than AGOY.

it is chilling and beautiful and my favorite piece of fiction I have EVER read. I love it so much I got a tattoo about it.

But more than that, it brought me you. We've only known each other for 8 months but I genuinely cannot overstate how much your friendship has impacted my life. I cannot imagine ever being without you again. I will always be thankful to this fic for bringing us together.

I see a lot of posts on here about how getting into your 30s is awesome, actually. Things get better, you make Real Friends, you find The Job, etc, etc. And people are on this website promising this. 

Kids, it can get better in your 30s or 40s or 50s. But if there is any guarantee in life, it’s that there are no guarantees. And no one’s life is perfect. There are going to be ups and downs. Sometimes ups outnumber the downs, as the rooster sang. But sometimes they don’t, and sometimes they don’t for a really long time.

I leave my 30s for my 40s in a few months, and things are not better. If anything, they are worse in almost every category. I’m now married to the fantastic, wonderful love of my life, my soupsnake. But everything else? 0/10, would not recommend. And it’s not for lack of trying, education, none of that. To quote another artist, “Most things haven’t worked out.” My purpose here isn’t to spread doom and gloom and scream that if things didn’t get better for me, they won’t get better for anyone so you’d better get used to being miserable! No. What I mean to say is that this shiny promise of a glittering tomorrow where all of today’s problems are solved is a fantasy--it’s Instagram bullshit. Paradise isn’t a guarantee, but neither is despair. Life will have glimpses of both, sometimes lingering ones. That’s the process.

Today’s one of those rare days where the kids are with Amya and Kris, and they’re given time to themselves. Claudia had told Kris and Amya the two of them were going out, but the truth of the matter was, Claudia and Lil are staying in bed all day. Claudia feels like they deserve it after the complicated week they’ve had and she wanted nothing more than a little time alone with her wife. 

The two of them decide to have breakfast in bed, thanks to doordash. And the two of them are enjoying eating their meal together, quietly, Claudia occasionally turning to look at Lil; and Lil occasionally turning to look at Claudia.

To be honest, Claudia’s in awe of how beautiful her wife is. How her blonde hair goes past her shoulders and she has light sprinkles of freckles across her nose and cheeks that remind her of the constellations and stars. Claudia also likes the light tan she has from their trips to the beach. 

“You’re staring,” Lil states to her, cooly, yet not annoyed. “It’s hard not to when you look so beautiful,” Claudia counters, grinning like a fool, the scar on her lip and the scar across her cheek more apparent because she’s not wearing makeup that covers most of it up. She touches the scar on her lip self-consciously, becoming more aware of it. 

Lil kisses the scar on her cheek and softly says, “No,” before she gives her a kiss on the lips where the scar on her lips is. Claudia finds herself turning a bright shade of red, unable to resist the fluttery feeling she gets from her wife’s affection and love. Though people say that Lil is too weird or incapable of love, her wife loves her and their children so very much and it makes her incredibly happy when she reminds her with affectionate gestures like these. “Beautiful, as always.” Lil then runs her index finger over the scar Claudia’s lip, and then along the scars on her cheek, and again kisses them, again. “I love you.”

The declaration of love would have scared her years ago, but now they’re so easy to spill out. “I love you, too.” And then Cloud smiles at her.
