love this podcast so much! this is probably a bit of a nuts ask but i just wanted to let you guys know that you've genuinely helped me in real life- I was approached by two Mormon missionaries today (i live in the UK so it was Unexpected to say the least) and for the entirety of the conversation I was remembering how you mentioned on one of your episodes (99% sure it was you guys) about how being on missionary is most Mormons' first experience of the wider world so you should do your best to be polite etc. all the context you gave genuinely helped me navigate the conversation so much lmao, you guys are entertaining AND educational 10/10

and yeah, that sounds like something we would say. I (G) can't seem to dig up receipts right now but the tl;dr is that oftentimes, door-to-door evangelism of the kind mormon missionaries and jehovah's witnesses engage in is less effective at converting people, but highly effective at reinforcing to the group's members that all outsiders are Cruel And Sinful and therefore you should never leave The Church because that's where the only good and kind people are.

but also, like, 90% of the time the reason I (G) try to be kind to mormon missionaries is because they're like 20 and have never been allowed the simple joy of a macchiato (but must try to fill that void with vile concoctions of dr pepper, gummy worms, and half 'n half, apparently.)

also, let the record show that "being kind" does not mean showing any interest whatsoever in converting to mormonism, or leading them on to that effect! but it costs $0 to wish them a nice day and be a shining example of how wearing spaghetti straps does not in fact lead to sacrificing live goats to satan.

yeah this is awesome to hear!! and even to add onto this, that sort of advice is pretty good to utilize just in general when talking to people from these ultra-conservative, super-sheltered (and yes, usually religious) upbringings. like G said, you don't need to lie to them and make them believe that "oh yeah totally i'm absolutely going to see you this sunday and I sure will consider changing the entirety of my belief system/morals!" but, yknow, just be kind. it's good to do even for Normal Regular people you see on the street. but this isn't sesame street so I won't start that brand of schoolyard lecture.

semi-related, but a little tangential: my super-strict catholic high school used to invite mormon missionaries to come and 'speak with' specific religious classes (usually the TrulyCatholic bitches took these) every year. and every year we heard about how "lol the ridiculous mormons keep coming and being nice to us to try and talk about their religion as if we're EVER going to change our minds and believe in their FAKE and WRONG version of christianity?? isn't it so stupid that they're so patient and kind to us even as sister catherine anne stands back and lets us bully—I mean, debate these guys? anyways I wonder when the morons—I mean, mormons, will stop coming back. 😌💅"

and to this day I still think about those guys! because I never understood their willingness to come back every year, and I could not fathom why they were consistently so nice. learning more about mormonism through this podcast has really helped my ex-catholic ass look at the outside world and be like "oh, we were the assholes. I mean, I knew that already, but shit." and tbh i'm sure they honestly loved coming to my school, because nothing will solidify your own stance/opinion on a group of 'outsiders' than a mob of privileged ravenous catholic teenagers. anyways, let that be a refrain for you on your new day-to-day: don't be like the catholics, be kind. amen 🙏

hey baby I’m so sorry about the late response!! but i love this question!!! so here goes!! ✨✨✨

first off… i don’t do anything for hair-care except except wash my hair in cold water bc it makes it extra soft. but apart from that, i honestly don’t even blow dry it or curl it or anything… it’s quite straightish-wavy and i really like how it looks the way it is!! also curls never stay in my hair for long bc my hair is super fine lol 😌🙌🏼

skincare… i actually need to find a moisturiser bc i just use Vaseline rn. also my spf 50 which is also a moisturiser. it’s from this brand called heliocare and it’s amazing. i also massage my face… like… aggressively every morning to recuse puffiness. i also splash it with ice cold water about twenty times to get a healthy flush and i learnt both these things from model doutzen kroes’ YouTube channel. I also use an exfoliater from this brand called murad about 3x a week. apart from that I don’t do much, I get laser done on my face and I swear to you it doubles as like a collagen treatment — makes my face all tight and radiant and gets rid of hyperpigmentation!! I’m lucky to have been blessed with clear skin bc apart from that I don’t do anything else to it!!

as for makeup, omg I’ll try to keep it brief and simple. I have a foundation and it’s the charlotte tilbury sheer coverage one but I don’t really use it bc it oxidises and goes slightly orange lmao. anyways I use charlotte tilbury flawless filter like religiously and I use a cream concealer which I believe is from revolution and it’s a charlotte tilbury dupe. btw i blend out the flawless filter with my hands and i blend out my concealer with my fingers bc I genuinely think makeup brushes are overrated and you don’t always need them. anyways setting powder is from elf. for contour I use a concealer in a darker shade and for blush I use glossier shade storm and I put it literally everywhere like cheeks and nose and forehead bc i like the whole flushed look on myself. and I fill in my brows using some morphe brow thing. i don’t do soap brows bc I hate that trend but I do love threading my brows really thing I think that looks so cute. I usually let my lips be but when I’m in the mood I go for a dark brown lipliner and nude lip combo. For eyeshadow I use the too faced born this way palette bc the brown shades are so good and they’re all I use and that’s about it the end!!

the dead poets vs. laundry 🧺

i’ve worked in the laundry industry for 4+ yrs so i feel qualified to speak on the matter 😌✨(jokes!)

**i wrote these hcs under the assumption the welton boys are responsible for their own laundry & i tried to adjust to be accurate to 1959!! the first bullet points for charlie & knox i based on a guy my sister knew in college! he was from vermont & yes, that’s the god-honest truth. it makes me laugh every time i think abt it, which is at least once a day

charlie:

him & knox never learned how to do laundry so they just. buy new clothes whenever they run out of clean ones. meeks & todd are horrified.

purchases only name-brand garments. never looks at price tags (trust fund baby)

calls the laundromat a “laundry-mat”

charlie’s mother washes his clothes for him whenever he’s home. he always says thank-you and kisses her on the cheek <3 (he’s a mama’s boy)

after rowing practice he throws his dirty uniform in a pile in the corner of his & cameron’s room. the pile grows through the term, along with mold and mildew :)

favorite garment: a bright pink polo shirt he bought after reading ‘a separate peace’ (1959)

has really nice clothes but doesn’t take care of em (“i can’t put my leather jacket in the washing machine??! what do you mean i’m gonna ruin it?!? cows don’t get ruined when it rains!!!”)

once, charlie was trying to be funny and got stuck in one of the dryers at the laundromat. it took the combined efforts of pitts, meeks, todd, neil, and knox to pull him out.

neil:

watched his mother do the laundry growing up & learned by observation. his aunt taught him how to sew at the age of twelve

always lays his beloved wool sweaters flat to dry so they wont shrink in the dryer

hangs his pants with a crease. color-codes his closet. repairs any tears in his clothes with his travel-size mending kit

pairs & rolls his socks, most of which are argyle

embroiders tiny hearts on the inside of all his sweater sleeve cuffs for todd to find

goes with todd, meeks, and pitts to the laundromat every sunday after welton’s mass

gave up on trying to teach charlie proper garment care years ago (he refuses to learn)

always makes an effort to look polished and sharp. takes really good care of his clothes. mr. perry loves to remind neil that “appearances are everything”

likes to read the movie magazines at the laundromat. gossips with the older women about montgomery clift, rock hudson, and tab hunter

has to fight the urge to jump in one of the laundry carts and roll around the store every time he’s there bc carpe diem!

todd:

he’s helped his mom with the laundry from the time he could reach the dials on the washing machine. todd’s learned just about everything there is to know abt household laundry & can fold fitted sheets. perfectly <3

todd finds laundry very calming and satisfying. nice to turn his brain off and just focus on folding & hanging his clothes nicely :,)

jeff always said “thanks little man” when todd ‘delivered’ clean clothes to him. todd misses that. a lot. so does jeff.

wardrobe comprised of almost exclusively jeff’s hand-me-downs (they are a little big on him)

is a GOD when it comes to getting stains out. not even spilled ink can withstand his technique

hangs his pants with a crease, doesn’t fold em. ALWAYS checks the pockets before washing

enjoys the trips to the laundromat more than he lets on. helps him feel less homesick

pairs & rolls his socks, organizes them by color in his drawer

always checks garment tags for proper care instructions. hates having to pay for drycleaning

meeks:

neil taught him & pitts the art of laundry

measures out the detergent with the utmost precision. refuses to use bleach

does not separate darks from lights from whites (“after you’ve washed them a few times the colors shouldn’t bleed or transfer! i refuse to do multiple loads!”)

does pitts’ laundry for him helps pitts with his laundry

always brings extra change for the jukebox <3

keeps forgetting he has pens in his shirt pockets and they explode in the wash. ink ends up all over his clothes more than a few times. (todd comes to the rescue in these situations)

not fantastic at folding but better than some

washes everything on ‘cold’ (“it conserves energy & water”), dries everything on ‘low’ (meeks is terrified of starting a dryer fire)

helps the older women in the laundromat a lot. they always compliment him and try to set him up with their daughters, nieces, granddaughters, etc. (“such a nice boy!”)

pitts:

forgets to check the pockets of his clothes before loading them in the washing machine

washes everything on ‘hot’ (“it sanitizes the fabrics!”), dries everything on ‘high’ (then wonders why his pants keep getting shorter)

doesn’t fold his clean clothes, just puts em in a basket. refuses to pair his socks

is asked to help fold sheets, comforters, quilts, etc. by the older ladies in the laundromat all the time bc he is so TALL! pitts is always happy to assist <3

endlessly appreciative whenever meeks does laundry for him

made the mistake of putting a brand new pair of red socks in with the whites the first time he washed his clothes by himself. his undershirts, underwear, socks, & rowing sweater all came out bright pink, like marilyn monroe’s satin dress in ‘gentlemen prefer blondes’. charlie never let him hear the end of it.

cameron:

gets up early every morning to press his shirts & crease his pants with his personal clothes iron

uses sock garters to keep his nylon stretch socks up. sometimes forgets to unclip them & they go through the wash lol

for the longest time he was using shirt hangers for pants and pant hangers for shirts. charlie pointed it out. they argued about it for 20+ minutes (“how would you know? you don’t even do your own laundry!” “big deal! anyone can tell the difference! haven’t you ever picked up dry cleaning?!” “sure i have, but who pays attention to the hangers?!” “i want a divorce, richard”)

bleaches his whites to keep em ✨pristine✨

sometimes overfills the dryer. forgets to clean out the lint trap. gets his quarters stuck in the machines. a lot.

pretreats all stains. scrubs them out with his designated laundry toothbrush and powder soap (this is the most time-consuming part of cam’s laundering process). he’ll ask todd for advice if a stain is particular stubborn

pairs & folds his socks in half like a heathen

his mother hand-sews labels with his full name on em into every single article of clothing he owns. he refuses to be made fun of for this

knox:

no idea how to do laundry. absolutely no clue. like charlie, he buys new clothes whenever he runs out of clean ones

always forgets to cut the sale tags off and remove the big paper collar stays n shirt pins from his new clothes n dress shirts. neil helps.

knox overstreet alone keeps the town dry cleaners in business with the two-dozen cashmere cardigans he drops off each month

“i have nothing to wear!” “knoxious i swear to god if you say that one more time i am going to slap you into next week”

tagged along to help the poets with their laundry once. started a dryer fire. twice.

his dad bought him his first ever pair of blue jeans, the exact same as those worn by james dean in ‘rebel without a cause’ (“don’t tell your mother”). knoxious refuses to wash them, he’s convinced they’ll get ruined. knox & charlie start to call them his ‘james jeans’

I started a lot of this blog when I was in the middle of leaving one job and finding another. Because of that, a lot of my activity has gone down, which sucks, but was something I had been aware of.

I always see a lot of my favorite blogs doing like, themed days where they regularly post specific content on certain days. I wanna try doing something like that! Obviously I know it won't be anything big and might take a long time to take off but hey, it'll get me moving again. Hopefully.

My Silvertec Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Combo [SCKM-E111] (w/ my Paper Dolls) - Part 1 [May 29, 2020]

Goodbye wired cord and say hello to wireless! I just got my own wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo from Silvertec!😁 🖱️ ⌨️ My paper dolls loves my new wireless computer peripheral so, just saying. 🙂

Anyway, my mom purchased this computer input device as my ‘late birthday’ gift during my little bro’s birthday on May 17th (Sunday) at physical computer branch store (Gadget King at SM Valenzuela) for around ₱799 (almost ₱800 and roughly $15). And the reason for that was because, No. 1 - my little bro needed a keyboard so I need to return it. Although both my old keyboard and the converter are actually mine but nah, it’s a good thing that I have my own keyboard right now. 😌 And No. 2 - my A4tech USB wire optical mouse (OP-720) was malfunctioned on the left click, which is totally useless.

Nevertheless, it’s gonna be another new topic so, let’s get started:

1st to 5th Image(s): • (1st and 2nd Images) Here’s the actual box itself. On the front you see the actual items themselves with a promising features about it. • (3rd Image) On the back here you see some more information, specs and more features. • (4th and 5th Images) I decided to take zoom in the information, so feel free to read it. My favorite features on all keyboard and mouse combo brands are ‘multimedia keys’ on the keyboard, ‘water/spray/spill proof design’ and of course reaching a wireless feature (as I mentioned) that can up to‘10 meters away from the computer/laptop using a single USB wireless dongle include’ without any seen of wired cord on sight.☺️

6th to 7th Image(s): •Opening the box and here you see the keyboard wrapped on plastic, while the mouse (also wrapped on plastic) was inside the box on the right and some batteries included as well.

8th and 9th Image(s): • Removing plastic(s) and opening the mini box, you see the actual items themselves. My paper dolls say that they’re look good. Yeah thanks. 🙂

hi there!! ❄️

i think the first thing i ever embroidered was “1D AF” with bright red thread. 2014 was a different time man haha. but embroidering really helped my anxiety so perhaps i’ll pick it back up in the new year! i kinda want to try my hand at origami as well.

that sounds so cute! i love medieval setups. i once went to one for new years, and the turkey legs were the size of my head haha. we were able to host a haunted medieval festival this year so a friend and i went and it was great. they utilized some sick props and stages for their outdoor haunted trail, and it was super immersive.

i’ve finished all i have to do for the week, actually so now i CAN REST!! i’m going to simply not exist until sunday i believe. it’s usually warm where i live (we have lighter winters) but we’ve had a bad cold front that’s chilled me to the bone lmao. my birthday is two weeks away! i think i just have a crisis over age more than anything, and birthdays the past couple of years have felt very steeped in that lousy ideology. hopefully this year will be better though ❤️ you also reminded me that i need to get my yoga in for the day, so thanks for that :) hope your thursday was beautiful ✨

OKAY haunted medieval festival??? that sounds so so cool i love that! did they also talk in these funny medieval sounding words? we don’t get many scary/ haunted things here except for tiny haunted rollercoasters on carnivals but i wish there were more :((

ahhhhh AHHHH happy weekend to you then for real 💙💙💙 i hope you can relax and do nothing and everything your heart desires!! do you like to bake or cook? when i have days off, i always bake a million things and cook a lot dksndndn i made two types of christmas cookies last night and it was so fun to drink mulled wine and bake and sing to christmas music ❄️ and stay warm!!! i’m driving to my parents house in the south of germany on sunday and they’ve had snow and i’m so excited to have snow ykyndnnd ugh and i understand that 🥺🥺 i hope you get to free your head from these thoughts ❤️ i hope your yoga was good!! i spontaneously got my third covid vaccine today and they said i am not allowed to do sports for 3 days so i’m debating with myself whether gentle yoga counts as sports snsnsns

my day yesterday was lovely!! i had to work during the day, i work as a barista in a restaurant but yesterday i just spent a lot of time doing the dishes and talking to my favourite chef and we put on loud music and sang dkskdkdk and then i met my uncle and we walked over the christmas market and had mulled wine heheh ❤️❤️ how was your day today and yesterday?? ❄️💙🎄💘🥰✨
