Subtype Trait Structures: sx1

Possessive and Tyrannical

The vehement anger feels entitled to what's desired, and this leads to a neurotic dominance over the partner, family, and material possessions. They're the kings and queens of their space.

Justified Violence

Being closer to E8, they don't have difficulty accessing anger and violence, but contrary to the antisocial here there is a moralistic and noble rationalization of aggression, in which they were just doing «the right thing».

Dogmatic Enforcer

“Hyperdemanding begins, related to the tendency to idealize love and deprive it of all conflict, which has a certain resemblance to the reformism towards the couple that the SX 1 could exercise.” (Golosos)

They enforce their beliefs and ideology on their partner and closed ones, and need to be around what is absolutely best, both in performance and ethics.

Active, Reformist

The dogmatism is not enforced just on a personal level, but it extends to whatever activity they're engaged in. There's an entitlement in confronting others no matter the situation they're put in.

Hypocritical

We could say all E1 are hypocritical, but the sexual is the most characterized by a betrayal of their own values. Anger is here twisted by the sexual instinct, which desires pleasure and satisfaction, leading to a biased set of principles that allow for any immoral behavior to be taken by them, but not by others.

Sadistic

The sadistic control and criticism of others is a projected rebellion against the father. It's as if they're saying “The way you criticized, controlled, and hurt me I will do to others”. The difference between them and E8 vengeance is that in here there's a hypersocial justification of the ******, expressed as “I just want you to do better”. Mistyping on The Enneagram

Introduction

The purpose of this post is to understand what are mistyping and how they happen. I’ll explain some of the patterns ive noticed when it comes to some of the mistypings as well as some of examples ive I personally disagree with. Please dont take any of this as a personal insult if any of these examples I give are things you've done in the past or the typings I disagree with are your own.

Case #1 Bad Media Literacy 

Often one of the biggest mistake I see when it comes to typing characters enneagram its the interpretation of the characters motive and character arc being incorrect and often based on nothing. The claims you'll mostly see is flattening of the character and often they'll just take one line of dialogue or small piece of the character and typed them based on that. Rather than looking at the character overall. Even if the characters motives and desire are bluntly on display they'll usually ignore these in favor of their misunderstanding of the text. 

Ex- Maxine Minx (3w4 so/sx) being typed as 2w3 sx/so

-Maxine Minx is a character whose desires are screamed to you by the narrative (literally). Maxine craves stardom and status; she yells at Pearl that she won't have the life she doesnt deserve because she is a Star. Her  sense of self importance and entitlement are clear pointers to soc 3. So I find quite shocking/horrifyng seeing people type her as a sx 2. Let's start with the fact that Maxine’s core desire being in creation of a unique bond with ONE individual in which she ignores her own needs to please the subject is one of the most unhinged takes ive ever seen because there is absolutely no evidence of this in the text. Second Maxine being a Super Ego+Positive type is just not true there isn't any evidence of that in the text. It's just a mess of a typing based on bad media literacy and even worst understanding of subtypes. 

Case #2 Misunderstanding of Subtypes 

This is one of the most unlikely cases I see most people have a decent understanding of subtypes. However this still sometimes happens in which people usually take the definition of the subtype and barely explain it. Sometimes they dont understand what each instinctual variants desire is. 

Social-The desire to find a place in which they belong. Will have a belief that they have a big role in this world.

Self-Preservation-Looks for the needs of the self and those around them.

Sexual- They look for connections and to influcence others. Can be romantic or not. 

Ex-Daenerys Targaryen (2w1 so/sp) typed as 1w2 sx/so

Dani being typed as an sx1 isnt as bad as some of the other typings I'll cover here but it still shows a bit of confusion. The sx1 looks to perfect others through sharpening them morally. While the soc 2 looks to help others for the greater good. Both of these are super ego types which I why they might be confusing and have some similarities. 

 #3 Detachment between subtype and Type Structure  

This is the most common mistake ive seen people make when it comes to typing enneagram. They usually detach the subtype from the type structure and stick to the definition of the subtitle without taking any parts of the type it self. The focus on the subtype makes it so the core desire of the enneagram type itself is replaced rather than complement it. The core desire of the enneatype will and should always come first when it comes to typing. This has led to allot of mistyping in which they ignore crucial parts of the enneagram and character/person they are typing. 

Asuka Langley (3w4 so/sx) typed as 2w3 sx/so or 4w3 sx/so 

Both of these typings cause me a headache so ill cover both 

4w3 sx/so- sx 4 Asuka is one of the worst typing ive seen. They hyper focus on the flimsy definition and the poor understanding of Asuka’s character makes this typing a mess. To believe that Asuka craves for “depth and authenticity” is one of the most insane understanding of her character. And when checking at the triads it becomes even more evident that this typing is holding for its dear life on the misunderstanding from her character. To believe that Asuka is a withdrawn type is one hell of an interpretation. When it comes to attachment style Asuka being a frustration types makes no sense either. The E4 believes itself to be “too deep and profound” for others which is why they find themselves frustrated believing that others aren't as profound as they are. Also having any form of self hate ISNT a sign of enneagram 4. 

2w3 sx/so- This typing I see a bit less but its still pretty common. This typing probably comes when people hyper fixation on Kaji. And tbh thats kinda of bad since that is a minor plot beat when it comes to her character. And when you look at E2 as a whole Asuka just doesnt fit there anywhere...The sx ignores the need of self to please ONE individual who they believe can return the love they need. And Asuka doesnt ever ignore her own needs at all. Also Asuka being a super ego type...no. The super ego types believe they are doing righteous acts and believe themselves to be morally superior. And how does this apply to Asuka? well it doesnt. 

Case #4 “May look like X type” 

Following the same topic from the last case they will usually focus on the small part in the final description of the subtype in which they point out some similarities with others. However it is important to note that they are still the same type. The Enneagram core desire and needs doesnt change because they may look like X type. And this seems to be very rampant as of recently. 

Anakin Skywalker (8w7 sx/so) typed as 4w3 sx/so- This typing makes is as bad as the previous character. The current fixation on the may look like E8 in the description of sx E4 has made allot of different charcaters and people be mistyped based on that single line. Anakin never desire authenticity nor depth. He makes it very clear in both The Clone Wars show and Attack of The Clones that he craved power In order to protect those he loved. Saddest part is he quite literally tells us this in attack of the clones...

Lack of Knowledge of General Type structure and Ignoring Triads 

The type structure of each type is complex and detailed however it is key to understand its importance when it comes to typing and understanding the enneagram. Naranjos work on the enneagram is my preferred source when it comes to general type structure I highly suggest you find pdfs or sometimes people of personality coffee leave the type descriptions of naranjo in there. Understanding the core desire of the enneagram and the lines inside is something ive noticed people have a hard time understanding and not taking into consideration when it comes to typing.  Triads is also a very good and important tool to understanding how the types work and it helped me allot to distinguish them. Especially when it comes to object relations. 

Ex- Cassie Howard (9w1 sx/so or 2w1 sp/sx) being type 3w2 sx/so

So im not sure on Cassies enneagram just yet im between the options listed above however Cassie being typed as a sx 3 makes no sense at all. Cassie being a competency+assertive types makes very little sense to me. Especially since the sx 3 looks for success in the interpersonal sense they dont really crave the “love” that comes from it just the image of filling the role in someones life. While I think the sx 9 makes more sense since her being an attachment type makes the most sense to but also I could see sp 2 tho. I don’t see the assertiveness that the sx 2 has.

Enneatype 1 summarised!!

Core type- Passion: anger. E1s are constantly searching for faults in everything, they stay angry and resentful to those flaws, and so themselves or other people. Fixation: resentment. They pay so much attention to finding flaws in everything, leading to nothing ever seeming like enough. Trap: perfection. They aggressively demand themselves, people and objects to perfection. They’re often highly critical of their surroundings and accomplishments. Defence mechanism: reaction formation. Reaction formation means to feel one way, but act according to the opposite. To keep their self image of being right, e1s deny these emotions to keep this up.  Virtue: serenity. Serenity overcomes their anger once they realise that their essence is perfect, and more important than external perfection they seek.  Key traits: Inner critic, over control, virtuousness, perfectionism and criticality. 

Subtypes-  Self preservation [sp]: The sp1 is characterised as being worried a lot. They most likely grew up in a chaotic environment and try to compensate for it to make themselves as organised and perfect as they can. Out of each subtype they use the defence mechanism the most, due to their perfection being largely self focused.  Sexual [sx]: The sx1 tries to put themselves up more as a model of the perfect person other people should admire and strive to be like. They’re often stereotyped as the more angry subtype, often being invasive especially in things and people that aren't to their standard. Social [so]: The so1 can be described as a stereotypical school teacher. They feel as though they must teach others perfection. Similar to the sx1, but so1s are more helping type people than model people. They actively go out of their way to help those who don't conform to their standard, but can get impatient when things don't go their way

Contradictions-  INTP, ISTP, ISFP, INFP, ENTP, ENFP, ESFP, ESTP Due to the usage of the introverted judgement, these types are incompatible with e1. Being highly critical and aware of their thoughts, suppressing them to fit what is perfect in their eyes is what causes this. Ji dominance is highly subjective and focused on the inward information, while e1 wants concrete and objective perfection and achievement. Their anger, objectivity and need for control can make them look very similar to e8. Types you might want to look into if you are on this list are e3, e4, e5, e6 and e8.

In general: E3 (focus on competence), E4 (when unhealthy), E5 (focus on competence)

Sx1 (countertype): E8 (both have a forceful nature)

Type 2

In general: E9 (positive attitude)

Sp2 (countertype): E7 (positive attitude; childish disposition)

Type 3

In general: E1 (focus on competence), E5 (focus on competence)

Type 4

- Alex is possibly a Deep thinker, sometimes dissociating a bit or would stare blankly. [*N**/Intuition]

- He’s possibly an abstracted and drastic creature to create something so ridiculous, intriguing and as well as… Life threatening. [Intuition]

- Strategic and unpredictable, like how in his true form he waits for the perfect moment to pounce. [Dom Te -> Aux Ni -> Ter Se]

- He has NO EMPATHY to others at all and lacks personal concerns, but interestingly he has an “intimate friendship” with Dolly. Since Real Alex known her and so is she. [Inf Fi + SO/SX + Choleric]

- Power hungry and authoritarian in secret. There’s a hidden thirst for order and the strong ambition of achievement (A goal we possibly have not known about yet). As said or mentioned by Scrina. [ Enneagram 3 + SX8 ]

- Likewise, they’re fascinated by the wonders of biology and zoology. It’s either something sinister or “lighthearted” if he would look at some organism. Just curiously keeping an eye… Even aware of its actions. [ Enneagram 5 + Ni-Se ]

Alex is an ENTJ, The Commander type.

ENTJ’s are highly strategic, intelligent and influential people able to create, plan and lead. ENTJ’s by strength can be very caring and supportive of ideas, but as for an Unhealthy version can be aggressive and controlling.

Along with 3w4 “The Proffesional”, SO-SX, 385 “The Solution Maker” as his enneagram, instinct and tritype;

Social 3’s appear to try and take a liking from others by first glance, and it appears to be a manipulative approach later on(*Unhealthy 3), they gain admiration and recognition for either achievements, charm or so on.

Then here, Sexual 8 craves possession, power and control, which could mean both head(3) and heart(8) are unpredictably cunning, and it’s dangerously lurking inside of him ambiguously.

By gut, 5/Five’s are curious, private and intelligent individuals, so by action Alex decides to let Olivia explore as she walks, almost unheard, for a chance to either catch her or trap her in his realm. It’s also his sense of hiding his physically true form, securing that reality from within.

His temperament is just pure wrath and sadistic joy, he takes pleasure from beating up Scrina to make her do as he says, successfully taking control of a whole entire school. And, Olivia getting an awnser wrong is intended for him to devour her whole. Though “lighthearted” joy is usually established from aloe vera(?), biology/zoology and possibly Dolly.

Besides his other traits; Social, Limbic, and Organized, He possibly possesses an Ego, not pun intended, but he really does set himself high in a low profile as a Teacher. And other hand possibly inquisitive, as he’d borrow an idea to create effective motives on going. But I also like to think that he got heavily inspired by two teachers, since they’re somewhat in the same universe.

That is to make inquisitive in SLOE-“I” a strong proof.

Other notes/Trivia:

- Alex is easily mistaken for an ENTP “The Debater” type for Fandom Portrayal, and ISFP “The Adventurer” type or INFJ “The Advocate” for his fascination for Biology and Zoology.

- It’s likely Real Alex is an ISFP/INFJ. Given by links and such.

- Although 3w4 is now a confirmed type, there are times where Alex seemed SX1 (The Reformer/The Zealous) for the fact he, like Baldi would teach the player solo, and it’s possibly preferable to him.

- Another reason for Alex to be mistaken for an ENTP is his Temperament, Instinct, and possibly his attitude. (*Which I’m yet to study and learn of)

- Overall, Alex likely has an Unhealthy/Immature Personality. Possibly because of his Morality (True Evil).

Fix:

Limbic = SLOEI - Upon reading the wikipedia more, it’s determined that he’s more of a Limbic rather than Calm. As Alex appears to be aggressive and as well assertive, than his stoic demeanor which is a façade.

i dont really participate in the post-MV moral and theory debating/discussions because. as an sx1, if i do that i will literally go insane. especially when it comes to Kotoko, Ms. I Have To Be Right About This Because If I'm Not I Can't Live But I Also Need Others To See That I'm Right And I Cannot Stop Until I Have Reformed Everyone Into Seeing What I See And If They Refuse To Change Then, Welp, They Have To Die I Guess. which is a very very very (unhealthy) enneagram 1 way of thinking.

also if i try to think too much about whats Right vs Wrong, the parts who act as the manifestations of Chaos/"Wrong" and Order/"Right" WILL start fighting about it in my had and i will get a massive headache and i dont want to deal with that </3

moral discussions of Kotoko's character activates the parts of me who are just. so insanely difficult to deal with. moral discussions in general, actually, but for Kotoko it just hits a lot more personally so it's practically impossible to even read that stuff without it starting An Internal War.

love Kotoko. wish i was sane and stable enough to discuss the major parts of her character.

╰┈➤ I'm curious what a 1sx Infj would look like (and how possible this combination is) since I'm seriously questioning being a 1sx enneatype. I thought I was a 6so, but I really don't feel identified with the description of the social instinct and there are several things about this type that don't fit me. Even before I was sure of my mbti, I thought I was a FI user (although I am a FE user) and I think it may be because of the enneagram

The sx1 is the most aggressive subtype, and it's actually not that common in INFJs. It doesn't matter what your MBTI is, there is a reforming attitude in the sx1 that isn't present in the soc6. Even with the idealistic, thoughtful and reflective NiFe combo, the sx1 still come across as invading, demanding and corrective- the sx1 is the true expression of anger; while the soc6 has a loyalty mentality and desires to work for a cause, the soc6 is more like a follower - but it doesn't actually mean following someone. The soc6 can be a follower of an idea, which is what happens in INFJ soc6. One of the main differences between an E1 and an E6 is that the E1 is usually assertive with their needs and values, while the E6 overthinks decisions in a way that the E1 doesn't. The dominant passion of the sx1 is zeal and the passion of the soc6 is duty.
