Hello! I have a bit of a situation that I would like your honest opinion on; I've read a lot of your asks and I trust your opinion on this, as I unfortunately delved into reddit initially and that was not a pleasant experience.
I have experience with romantic polyamory, and I'm out to the important people in my life; I'm also married.
Recently, my spouse and I have been talking about how nice it would be to have another partner to love and care for as we do with each other. (Note: we discussed this shortly after we started dating, so it's not something new to us) We've been talking about a long-term triad who we'd like to nest with if the new partner would like to nest with us as well.
We don't have any, in my own opinion, unrealistic expectations of the partner. We don't have any "qualifications" or a "job application" that you would typically find with unicorn hunters.
I've been doing my reading, as I haven't been with multiple people in a couple years and wanted my information on terminology to be up-to-date. I've found that another big issue with unicorn hunters is that they treat their partner like a little secret, introducing them as a friend and such.
Like I mentioned earlier, I'm out of the closet about this, and I'd always introduce my partners as just that, my partners, and I'm sure my spouse would do the exact same.
So would my spouse and I still be considered unicorn hunters just for wanting to hopefully pursue an equal & ethical triad relationship without any expectations whatsoever? Reddit has been so unkind 😅
Thankyou so much for your time.
Absolutely!
Alright, that is a bit of a joke. I like Reddit for a lot of things but their polyamory community is infamously bad. And pretty much all polyamory social media always witch hunts Unicorn Hunters. And not without some good legit reasons. Lots and lots of people get hurt by unicorn hunters. But I have seen lots of people jump to immense conclusions as soon as it is mentioned. I have seen people describe their unique situations only for the replies to completely ignore it, clearly not reading all the way through, just to read a pre-scripted response about how unicorn hunters are bad and they should feel bad.
As you have mentioned, I don't really agree with this. I am a unicorn myself. I like dating couples! I don't feel like I am abused or taken advantage of when I do. Admittedly I have some privilege and advantages there. But regardless I think smart unicorns can effectively date ethical couples.
So my advice is to just be really upfront with any potential partners about what you are looking for. Be honest about limitations. It sounds great that you are open and would introduce them as a real partner. But also be realistic about if the existing couple would have any advantages over the new partner even if that isn't the intention. Make sure the new partner always feels like they have agency and are not trapped. I personally favor open triads to closed ones but that is a decision for all of you to make. Be understanding that a new partner will most likely not like each of you equally at the same pace. They may lean towards one person more. And over time things may shift to lean another way. Your existing relationship will probably go through this too as New Relationship Energy might overpower the old marriage for a time. This is normal and workable. Trying to force everything to always be equal often leads to problems.
Just try your best to be ethical and make everybody happy. Mistakes will be made along the way but they can be worked out. If everybody involved is happy then don't let the internet judge your triad.

INDIE!! I Have a question In my TMNT there are Yakuza and crime organizations…the question is should I make the Purple dragons a Yakuza organization??
Well, it depends.
In 2012, the Purple Dragons are a Chinese gang. In real life those are most commonly what’s known as Triads (read Wikipedia article here).
The Yakuza are much different. Yakuza are actually Japanese gangs (Wikipedia article on yakuza) that are similar in that they are organized crime groups, however their traditions, rules, and practices are very different.
I highly recommend reading the articles I listed, but essentially, if the Purple Dragons in your version are Japanese, then yes, you could call them Yakuza(yakuza really just means “gangster” in Japanese, though in English takes the connotation of “Japanese Gangster”).
I personally strive for accuracy in my writing, especially when incorporating real world things like this, but it’s ultimately your own decision to make. Since I don’t really know anything about your story, I can really only provide you with information.
Hope this helps!
Good question! :]

Enneagram system
A rewrite/more in depth post of the Enneagram system compared to my last post on it. Not an expert. May change later.
If you like kpop and typology, check out my blog. I do type analysis on idols and typology notes.
___
What is Enneagram?
I mainly took notes from Riso Hudson theory.
A typology system that categorizes personalities into 9 different types. Each type is numbered from 1 - 9.
Each type has a desire and fear that motivates their actions in life.
Core and Wings
Core: Our main type. It is the foundation of our personality and does not change.
Wing: Acts as a complement to our core. Wing can be one of the two types that sit beside core type. E.g a core 2 can have a 1 wing (2w1) or 3 wing (2w3). But is not necessary to use since wings can change and/or can be balanced.
Levels of Development
Summary of healthy - unhealthy levels of personality
- Healthy levels -
Level 1: Liberation
Let go of self image so we are free to express ourselves however we want. Self acceptance of all traits.
Level 2: Pyschological Capacity
Begin to identify with positive qualities in our personalities and learn to improve ourselves with them.
Level 3: Social Value
Still strongly identify with our set self image and make effort to maintain image. Want to share our good talents and abilities to make a positive effect on self and others.
- Average levels -
Level 4: Imbalance/Social roles
Idealization of self image; have a major focus on either good or bad qualities, no in between. Fear is an obstacle here.
Level 5: Interpersonal Control
Insist on self image being accepted by others, which can cause conflict. Can lead to controlling and manipulation.
Level 6: Overcompensation
Overcompensate due to underlying negative feelings. Desperate for others' acceptance.
- Unhealthy levels -
Level 7: Violation
Desperation for acceptance leads to violation of one's self and others. Serious conflict can occur. May victimize themselves to excuse offensive actions.
Level 8: Obsession and Compulsion
May be overly obsessed with an image of who they want to be. Deceives others
Level 9: Pathological Destructiveness
Most unhealthy state, display very toxic traits and behaviours, may have mental breakdown
Disintegration vs Integration
Or basically Stress vs Growth
Disintegration: When under heavy amounts of stress, a type will go into their disintegration type. They will pick up the negative traits of that type and act like the unhealthy version of it.
Integration: When maturing/developing positively, a type will go their integration type. They will pick up the positive traits of that type and improve their character.
___
* I will only give short descriptions for the triads. I will explain more in depth in individual posts.*
Centers of Intelligence
There are 3 centers of intelligence. Each center shows how and why we solve issues in life.
Gut/Instinct/Anger (types 1, 8, 9)
Gut center focuses on reacting and taking action immediately. This triad has an issue with control and anger.
1: Often perfectionists who repress their anger in order to remain morally good. They see their anger in a negative light.
8: The most open and comfortable with their anger. Uses it to assert boundaries, especially since this type fears vulnerability.
9: Often a passive type that dismisses or downplays their anger. They fear conflict and may worry being more assertive will cause a negative effect on themselves and others.
Heart/Image/Shame (types 2, 3, 4)
Heart center focuses on self identity and connections. This triad wants love and recognition and do what they believe is best to get that. They struggle with self worth.
2: They want to be needed and helpful to others. Pride themselves on being of service. Wants to receive love and to give love.
3: The most image oriented type. They always try to show their best selves and best efforts in order to seem admirable. Fears being worthless.
4: Wants to create a unique image for themselves, believes being boring will make them unloveable.
Head/Thinking/Fear (types 5, 6, 7)
Head center focuses on ideas, making rational decisions, and gathering info. This triad deals with fear and uncertainty.
5: The most internalized head type. 5's want to gather as much knowledge and resources as possible in order to stay secure and independent.
6: Quite an anxious type who seeks security through relations with others.
7: This type fears pain and suffering and seek out experiences in order to avoid negativity.
___
Other triads
- Harmonic Triads -
How types handle conflict, coping mechanism
Reactive (4, 6, 8)
Reactive types are not afraid to show and speak about their true feelings. They may seem "dramatic" in a way.
4: Melodramatic and self absorbed in negative feelings, drowns in intensity
6: Will argue, stick up for the right thing, moody, anxious
8: Big and loud reactions, can be very fiery
Positive (2, 7, 9)
Positive types dislike negativity and conflict and have their own ways of avoiding such tension. Optimistic during hard times.
2: Actively tries to be a good and kind person, only tries to focus on the good aspects of people
7: Seeks out fun opportunities to make their life exciting (basically distraction)
9: Values harmony and peace, will not risk any type of action that will disturb these values
Competency (1, 3, 5)
Competent types are often perfectionists who want to show their best selves. Objective and rational.
1: Strives to be correct and right, wants to be precise in what they do
3: Represses softer emotions to keep up a certain image, thrives with work/passions so they can be the best at what they do
5: Detached from feelings to remain logical and objective, knowledge seeking
- Hornevian Triads -
Relationships with others, how they get what they want
Assertive (3, 7, 8)
Assertive types go against people to get what they want. Do not back down easily, can seem aggressive and forceful.
3: Pushes through obstacles for achievements, goal oriented
7: Asserts their right to have fun, refuse to be restricted
8: Asserts power and strength, places boundaries
Withdrawn (4, 5, 9)
Withdrawn types are very internalized and do not show their needs openly. Deals with things alone.
4: Feels something is wrong with them internally, feels misunderstood
5: Detached from others as to not drain their own energy, will figure it out themselves
9: Introspective, lets life happen
Compliant (1, 2, 6)
Compliant work with people to get what they want. Builds relationships for security, wants to be helpful to others.
1: Doing the right thing instead of one's own wants
2: Focus on other's needs more instead of self
6: Tries to build a safe and secure environment by getting ppl to work together
- Object Relations -
How we are affected by others, our own affect on others, how we react to personal wounds
Attachment (3, 6, 9)
Seek out bonds and companionships for particular reasons. Individuality vs adaptation.
3: Changes their image to suit whoever they are with in order to meet expectations
6: Creates support systems to help with their self doubt and indecisiveness
9: Adapts to the energy of the environment to keep harmony
Frustration (1, 4, 7)
Triad gets frustrated when their needs aren't met.
1: Has a need to improve every little imperfection they find
4: Dislikes shallowness, longs for depth and complexity
7: Not enjoying experiences, not feeling fulfilled
Rejection (2, 5, 8)
Their own needs feel unimportant to others, so they reject their own needs as well.
2: Rejects the need to receive love and guidance, instead focuses on connecting with others and helping them.
5: Ignores and minimizes all their needs, offers knowledge and expertise in some hope of being acknowledged for their intelligence.
8: Rejects by being never putting their guard down, wanting to appear strong and as the protector of others.
___
Subtypes
Claudio Naranjo theory
There are three subtypes/instinctual variants that show our drive in life. There are 27 different subtypes in total.
Self Preservation (Sp)
Focuses on physical safety and security. Our physical health, financial security, obligations, and comforts.
Sexual/One - on - one (Sx)
Wants intensity and deep connections, one on one relationships are preferred.
Social (So)
Prefers to be in a community, wants to create good connections and bonds with others. Socially aware, focus on group goals and contributions.
___
Tritype
Katherine Fauvre theory
A minor but still interesting piece of Enneagram. Tritype is formed of your 3 dominant types from each center. The first number will always be your core, followed by your other 2 dominant types.
E.g 369. 3 = core, heart. 6 = head. 9 = gut.

Two and three for the fandom ask game please 💖
2. A headcanon you weren't sure about at first but have come to like!
Pretty much @wishingforatypewriter's entire backstory for the Republic City triads. At first I was trying to make up my own mind and stories but theirs is so good I just ate it all hook line and sinker. They're now my official source for the history of the tirads, minus a few small differences on how Yasuko Sato fits in.
3. A character that the fandom has helped you appreciate.
So many, but the first one that comes to mind is Suki. I never disliked Suki, but I was very neutral on her. Persuasive and talented Suki fans like @boomerangguy and @myargalargan have really made me appreciate her more.

I was wondering if you know any authors that happen to write triad/threesomes? I read a stunningly beautiful Harry/Draco/Hermione and am curious for more with the same pairing or Ron/Hermione/Pansy, etc etc. thank you so much!!
Anon you came to the right place 🙌 I love triads and this is a great opportunity to finally make a proper reclist. I gotta preface this by mentioning that my usual reads are M/M/M or M/F/M so I’m not sure the fics below will be your jam and in that case, I’ll be happy to add any recs from my followers. If you’re interested, I did a reclist for Harry/Teddy/Draco and also for Harry/Ron/Hermione. Some of the authors listed below explore rare ships and triads/poly quite often (LQT, ruinsplume, nv-md, tryslora), so I’d definitely go through their catalogue for more treats. Another great resource is the HP Triad Fest! Without further ado, here are my personal favorites. Note: fics with background triads have been excluded. Enjoy!

The silence is so loud
It's making my ears ring
"I'm fine, it's nothing"
Words that are functionally grenades
The absence of sound
Is nearly always more terrifying
Than the noise
The monster should be making
And it's taking, taking, taking
Every ounce of strength in my veins
To also remain silent
As I sense the beast moving in the dark
Is it jealousy? Or rage? Or envy?
Is it competition? Or is it something new?
A danger I'm not equipped to fight?
A fresh-faced enemy of my peace?
I look into the universe for answers
And you refute the answers I'm given
But the universe never lies
And men rarely tell the truth
Is this anxiety I'm feeling; paranoia maybe?
Or is it my survival instincts?
Either way, every cell in my body
Is screaming "run"
And I can't tell if it's fear
Of you
Or for you
That's keeping me frozen here.
- why can't I run?

i would love to read a guide how to hunt as a unicorn (not sure how much i will be able to apply, currently taken my first baby steps in taking the initiative in dating and the axiety...)
I am overjoyed to hear this! It is something I am going to need to put more thought and consideration into but it is definitely a post I want to make in the future.
Here is a little snippet though. I have found in my triad the most useful advice has been to understand that a triad is not 1 relationship but instead 4 relationships. A+B, B+C, A+C, and A+B+C. It is foolish to only focus on that last one. It is naïve to think all 4 of those relationships is going to be "balanced and equal" all the time. Different people need different things from people and connect in different way for different people. Lean into the needs of each of those relationships instead of trying to restrict them in an attempt to keep things fair.

When you begin your polyamory journey, no one will be able to adequately explain how hard it is to balance multiple relationships.
But at the same time, they won't be able to describe how incredibly fulfilling it is, either.
If you work on and manage that balance, it's so utterly worth the effort.
Polyamory isn't easy. But then, neither is any kind of relationship.
But if you're prepared to do the work and build your relationships, polyamory can open the door to such rewarding, emotional fulfilment that you won't even notice the hard work it needs because the rewards are so incredibly overwhelming.

Egyptian mythology: Triads everywhere
One of the key features of Egyptian mythology is the presence of “triads”.
Each city of Ancient Egypt had a patron-god, one big, popular, male deity overseeing the city, and the Egyptians took the habit of systematically attribute to their patron-god a companion-goddess, a wife, and to complete their family with one singular male child. This ensemble was a “triad” or “trinity”. Some of them were “natural”, as in they naturally formed themselves based on the legends and myths, in which a genealogical tree did exist. This is the case for the Osirian Triad, which is formed of Osiris, his wife Isis and their son Horus. But a lot of other triads of Egypt were actually “artificially” created for religious purposes, without any true myth behind it, during the New Kingdom. This is most notably the case of the two other most famous triads of Egypt (alongside the Osirian Triad): the Thebes Triad, formed of the god Amun (father), the goddess Mut (mother) and the god Khonsu (son) ; and the Memphis Triad, formed of Ptah (husband), Sekhmet (wife) and Nefertum (son).
There are many reasons for the existence of those triads in Egypt. On a very basic level, the number three was the number symbolizing the “plural” in Egypt, so when you had to refer to the gods in plural, the mind of the Ancient Egyptian quickly went towards a group of three deities. In fact, Ancient Egypt made a distinction between the “simple plural” (of three) and the “superior plurial” of 3 by 3, aka 9. This is why the pantheon of Heliopolis is the Ennead, a group of nine deities. The importance of the number three in Ancient Egypt can notably be found in an hymn to the Amun of Leyde, written at the end of the New Kingdom, where it is said “All the gods are three; Amun, Ra and Ptah. Their cities on Earth, Thebes, Heliopolis and Memphis, shall survive until the end of times”. On a more practical side of things - Egyptians cherished families a lot. They were big on families, and for them every man needed a female companion to not age alone, and every man needed a child to be his heir and descendant and perpetuate his lifework. (If you don’t know, the Egyptians did believe that their gods actually aged. Much, MUCH slower than humans of course, since their life was calculated in millenia rather than years, but the gods still aged). Of course, this meant that people wanted and liked the idea of their city-god or patron-god having a family of his own, just like them. Finally, for a more technical reason, the creation of triads was encouraged by the priests because it made their job much easier. On one side, it allowed them to “preserve” the cult of minor or secondary deities, “saving” them from possible oblivion and neglect by associating them with the current big, popular god of the moment. On the other side, by making sure all the gods were related to each other one way or another, the religion hoped to unify itself the same way Egypt itself united itself into one great empire, and with these triads, cultural “bridges” were built between different cities with often conflicting theologies.
It is quite interesting to note that in the divine triads, the typical family dynamics of Ancient Egypt are at work: the father-god is also the head of the clan and the leader of the trinity, due to his status as the patron-god of the city and/or region the triad is tied to. For example, in Edfu the local triad is made of the beloved and powerful god Horus, who absolutely dominates over his wife, the goddess Hathor, and his son, the god Harsomtus (Harsomptus? I collected conflict info about this god, which seems to be just an alternate identity of Horus himself), both relegated to the role of secondary deities merely assisting Horus. HOWEVER there is one noticeable triad that breaks this pattern and offers an interesting gender reversal: the Denderah triad, in which it is the wife-goddess, Hathor, that dominates as the prime and most important deity, while Horus her husband and their son (here the god Ihi) become secondary characters in the cult.
If I should list yet another gender-breaking triad, I could invoke the triad of Elephantine, centered around its local creator-god, Khnum, who is said to have as a wife the goddess Satet. The “gender-breaking” thing here is the fact that the triad doesn’t have a son, unlike most of the others, but rather a daughter, the goddess Anukis.
Finally, note that the common presence of triads in both the Ancient Egyptian religion and the Ancient Roman religion helped the two religions and mythologies connect as their respective civilizations mingled together.
