I was wondering if you know any authors that happen to write triad/threesomes? I read a stunningly beautiful Harry/Draco/Hermione and am curious for more with the same pairing or Ron/Hermione/Pansy, etc etc. thank you so much!!

Anon you came to the right place 🙌 I love triads and this is a great opportunity to finally make a proper reclist. I gotta preface this by mentioning that my usual reads are M/M/M or M/F/M so I’m not sure the fics below will be your jam and in that case, I’ll be happy to add any recs from my followers. If you’re interested, I did a reclist for Harry/Teddy/Draco and also for Harry/Ron/Hermione. Some of the authors listed below explore rare ships and triads/poly quite often (LQT, ruinsplume, nv-md, tryslora), so I’d definitely go through their catalogue for more treats. an off-the-top-of-my-head intro to wolfstar reclist for a request on the wolfstar discord. criteria: requestee reads drarry, fluffy to light angst, "maybe classic marauders era for a taste of what the fic is typically like?" i went for (a) present-day active authors and (b) 2017ish "modern-day classics," <50k, mostly canon-setting.

Upstairs, Downstairs by @squidgilator (5k, G): great little "intro" fic to one of my favorite hogwarts era pining/get-together authors, "In which Hogwarts traps Sirius and Remus on an endless staircase to make them talk to each other."

Cooler Than Frogs by Penknife (4k, T) & Not In Front Of the Dog! by Engie_Ivy (2k, T) are similar uniquely wolfstar/HP-magic adorable get-togethers.

Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy…Best Friend, Brother, Roommate, Lie by @femme--de--lettres (9k, T): muggle au, Hope Lupin keeps count of how many attempts it takes her son to finally admit that he's in love with his best friend. if you like this, author has two longfic WIPs (a spy AU and a law school AU with terrific rep that's very wonderfully and honestly done!)

on the issue of fever and delight by aeridi0nis (12k, T). post-prank fic, prangst get-together is one of the most classsiicccc wolfstar tropes ever. stellar characterization & just magical prose: "After the initial shock, Sirius closes his mouth. Clears his throat. He wears repentance poorly, as all former princes do; his spine seems reluctant to bend that way, so all he can scrounge up is a pathetic imitation of every other guilty person he’s ever witnessed. It’s perhaps the first time that Remus has seen him fall short in something."

June, and Other Natural Disasters by montparnasse (5k, T) "sirius/remus, summer, huge gay crush". montparnasse is an absolutely classic 2015-2018ish era wolfstar writer with a Certain Writing Style and you either love it or you don't, & if you love this relatively short one, literally everything else in their catalogue are must-reads.

The things that lurk in the dark by TheDivineComedian (5k, M). MWPP era, sixth year. There's something terrifying in the dungeons. late enough to be 'classic' (tbh any A/N that uses the term mwpp instead of marauders era is straight away a 'classic'). no but seriously this has all the defining features of a classic wolfstar fic to me: strong characterizations of all four marauders, lovely Shenanigans vibe / they're Up To No Good, there's Trauma but make it funny, overall just a great blend of light and angst.

The Active Reader by veeagainst (7k, M). When a craze for pulpy romance novels about Dark Creatures starts in Gryffindor, Sirius reads one about a werewolf -- and decides to write a better one. hilarious, intellectual, and hot; who says you can't have it all! very engaging!!

The Weather Inside by earlybloomingparentheses (43k, M). a classic canon-setting 'falling in love during the first war' story, ensemble fic with background jily. plausibly canon compliant, fic ends happily.

that’s the art of getting by by sarewolf (40k, M). "angst with a happy ending" perfectly describes this fic, one of the best remus/wolfstar raises harry especially for its length / <50k fic, and an absolute modern-day classic (read: Gaerfinn will ban me if i don't rec this)

Since August, I've been reading mostly FirstPrince (find those reclists here). It's amazing. Like Drarry, but canonically full of queer joy and representation. With a creator who isn't actively seeking to harm people. Refreshing.

In addition to the long list of FirstPrince fics I've been devouring since the Red, White & Royal Blue movie came out in August, I'm following this fun daily-update advent WIP: When I think about you by @clottedcreamfudge.

As much as I'm enjoying Alex and Henry, I'll never be able to quit HP. I have an ask about Drarry sports recs I'll be working on next, and I'm enjoying the Dramione D/Hr Advent, which is full of delicious bite-size seasonal art and fics.

It is that time of year once again! Happy International Fanworks Day! This year has been even busier than the last one so just another reclist (that might be late) from me this year. Hopefully next year will be different.

This year’s theme is when fandoms collide – my bread and butter, really. So, without further ado, this year’s IFD reclist:

Alex Rider (AR) × Rise of the Guardians (RotG)

Kindling Wonder by control of chaos Beautiful and incredibly uplifting. In most fics, Alex is quite jaded and hardened by the things he’s seen from being forced to grow up too quickly but this fic reminds us he can still be a child – he can still have hope and wonder, remember the good times, dream and have fun. Despite everything he’s been through, he can be the kid he should’ve been allowed to be.

Rise of the Guardians (RotG) × Avengers

Clashing with Legends by routavaurio The two source media are blended very well despite being rather different in tone. There’s humour but also seriousness, the characters feel true to themselves and the fight scenes are easy to follow. Even with a pretty large ensemble cast, everyone got their time to shine. There’s also a sequel, Mythical Intervention, and both fics are now also on AO3!

Winter Gods by avearia This starts off funny and lighthearted, gradually layering in plot and as of the latest chapter (20/02/2019), hints of horror building up to quite the cliffhanger. The worldbuilding is intriguing, with explanation for the discrepancies between Norse mythology and the MCU’s Asgardians as well as incorporating backstory from the GoC books.

Alex Rider (AR) × Harry Potter (HP)

Harry Potter and the Teenage Spy by Rod I don’t know how to describe this other than it is quite literally, when fandoms collide. See what I did there? …Sorry. The first instalment is set during ‘Deathly Hallows’: what if Alex (and Tom and Sabina) was/were in the café the Golden Trio escaped to after the wedding? After this, well, you know how Alex is – can’t leave anything alone, has to see things through no matter what, casually popping in to fuck shit up – no, really, this series is literally just Alex inserting his sassy self into Deathly Hallows. 😅

Of Wands and Stun Darts (And All the Things in Between) by tomaetotomahtoe This series is so sweet and Harry and Alex’s relationship is incredibly tender. The parallels are drawn between them in such a way that highlights the similarities in their personalities without making them carbon copies of each other. They’re so soft with each other – they’re also mutually pining away for each other 🤭. You’ll be giggling over these adorably silly boys.

Miraculous Ladybug (ML) × Avengers

What the Cat Dragged In by Kryal Tbh, I don’t really know what to say for this one other than it’s just… good. The way the world of Miraculous is viewed through the lens of an outside perspective is simply brilliant and the worldbuilding beyond what we see in canon is very clever. Adrien trying to figure out the physics behind the miraculous is just *chef’s kiss*. These two media were skilfully integrated and the characterisation is on point. Lastly, the tags – ‘the Avengers are not immune to cute’, they certainly aren’t! 😂😂😂

Undertale (UT) × Harry Potter (HP)

Under the Veil by poplasia I didn’t even know I needed this friendship until I read it. Sirius and Sans get on like a house on fire, the mechanics behind the magic are cleverly devised, the banter is hilarious and I can’t forget the puns.

Alex Rider (AR) × Artemis Fowl (AF)

Dead Man’s Party by thealphaaxolotl Post-canon strangers to friends to lovers!Alexmis featuring ‘oh my god they were roommates’, with your standard mutual pining as well as lashings of tension and angst.

Fairy Roses by crowprincess14 A short tearjerker as everyone deserves a little tragedy as a treat. It’s not specifically tagged as Alexmis but it’s definitely inferable. There are references to a canonical (but technically temporary) character death if you don’t read that. If you need comfort after this, there is a companion fic written by alexmis with a happy ending.

Alex Rider (AR) × Avengers

MI(6 Degrees of Separation) by mobilisinmobili Imo, anything written by Mobi is great. The source media go really well together and the characterisation feels natural. As always the worldbuilding is very well done, leaving a vivid impression of the gritty underworld espionage and crime both belong to.

Miraculous Ladybug (ML) × Undertale (UT)

Miraculous Tale by awkwardnarturtle This better fits the definition of a fusion than a crossover, honestly. The ML characters are effectively transposed into the world of Undertale without just feeling like an expy and everything comes together so well. Marinette and Chat’s relationship is delightful to read while the little hints of mystery here and there evoke that nostalgic eagerness to discover the game’s secrets.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (PMMM) × Avengers

Incursio by Mr. Omelette The worldbuilding on the PMMM side has definitely influenced my own headcanons and the characterisation is rather fitting. Also, a family can be one American supersoldier displaced through time and two magical girls displaced across space.

Assassination Classroom (AssClass) × Boku no Hero Academia (BNHA)

Open Doors by NerdofSpades Another fusion for the list! This series masterfully blends the two universes together and Izuku’s character development takes an interesting turn as he is irrevocably shaped by the assassination classroom for the rest of his life.

Hi nonnie!! There are a ton of great authors currently active on both AO3 and Tumblr! I highly recommend checking out current fests to read new fic and discover new authors; @hpfests does an excellent job of compiling fest posts to keep up with them! @hd-fangfest, which is posting now, has an incredible selection of fics that I'd definitely recommend as a great on starting point.

@pennygalleon also put together a rec list recently of new authors in the Drarry fandom (here) that a lot of folks piled onto. it's a great list of authors that are new on the scene and currently active!

literary wolfstar recs part 2 (modern classics/post-2010)

hallo! Okurr so this is officially part 2 of my “literary” (by which I mostly just mean fucking beautiful) wolfstar recs & it covers the various post-2010 gems that I’ve managed to discover/read thus far. Posted this to reddit back on Remus’s bday because I’m a big nerd & thought that would be cute, but I’ve tidied it up just slightly since then bc the original post was an utterly a spur-of-the-moment thing & riddled with typos, etc.

As a general disclaimer, I abandoned fandom in like 2009-ish & have only been back for a few months so I can only imagine I’ve probably missed SO many lovely stories/authors (!!) and can only beg their forgiveness in advance. Still, wanted to post what I've got so far & hopefully one day I shall update or add a part 3 when I’ve had more time to read/explore contemporary ("contemporary") fandom.

And now, in no particular order whatsoever – modern wolfstar classics <3 -

we build our own unfolding & longsdune by @imochan.

Already recced imchan on the last list, I know, but these two were written post-2010 (meaning I just discovered them within the last 2 or 3 months lol) and are fucking beautiful, so. "We Build Our Own Unfolding" is a post-Hogwarts get-together about the death of Remus's mother, and "Longsdune" is an atmospheric multi-era fic that centers around an abandoned train station. Anyway, again, everything imochan writes is painfully gorgeous.

a history of sexuality, vol. 1 by istajmaal.

I think this is the author's only wolfstar fic but ohmygosh, it's so charming and also just achingly lovely. As the title would imply, it focuses on Sirius's sexual awakening & schoolboy crush on Remus but - God. It's just beautiful and heartbreaking and perfect. (Very minor spoiler alert but this fucking line: “Sorry I can’t make you feel normal” / “You’ve driven me so mad I don’t even care.” Kills me every time.)

annual honesty by @alwaysalreadyangry aka tigrrmilk.

This is such a beautiful and original take on the Prank, very dreamy (both in vibe and literal content, lol); Snape utilizes legilimency & dream magic in his attempts to discover what the Marauders are hiding. Walburga's also a creepy legilimens in this one, and ever since reading this fic I truly can't imagine her any other way.

grounded (& the rest of the listeneise series) by @yeats-infection aka fluorescentgrey.

Okay so fluorescentgrey has written SO many wolfstar fics and as of yet I still haven't read the vast majority of them but, but. I would be willing to bet that they are all amazing, because what I have read of hers so far is so stunningly beautiful and distinctive. I recced "Grounded" because it's a personal favorite, a Grimmauld Era canon-ish story with so many unbearably and achingly gorgeous lines, but it's actually the third part in a series (Listeneise) & every story in the series is wonderful.

EXILE/RETURN (& the rest of the empire falling series) by @polytony aka zambla.

This one's actually the last part of a series (Empire Falling), and everything in the series is beautiful and absolutely worth reading, but this one happens to be my favorite so it is now the one I'm linking here :). This is a non-magic AU and homage to Derek Jarman; Remus is a Jarman-esque artist who dies of AIDS and Sirius his surviving partner, who reads Remus’s old journals and reflects on their lives together as he travels Wales. The writing is fucking beautiful and it HURTS.

Such a sweet, charming premise (in which Remus unwittingly becomes the go-to helping-hand for "all things monthly" at Hogwarts) and the prose is wonderfully sharp and clean. And the PINING. This fic is pure UST/pining/etc., and it's so, so lovely.

between the moon and the stars by llassah.

A beautiful, imagistic, atmospheric get-together fic, in which James is distracted and Remus and Sirius spend most of the summer before seventh year attached at the mouth. This one is just so pretty.

Ahhh, the Sirius-visits-Remus-over-the-summer fic to end all Sirius-visits-Remus-over-the-summer fics. A charming, lovely, gorgeously imagistic get-together story (in which Remus and Hope Lupin are both, like, adorably granola). I mean, what else is there even to say here. This story is beautiful and happy and just, wow.

all manner of wolves & leave the children behind by @montpahrnah aka montparnasse.

Montparnasse is another one who has apparently written a LOT of wolfstar and I am just one busy human who has still not read sooo many of her fics, but they're probably all amazing because her prose is truly beautiful. "All Manner of Wolves" is a short sweet little first-kiss fic, and "Leave the Children Behind" is a long, beautiful Lie Low at Lupin's story. Again, her prose, her imagery/descriptive language, her use of metaphor . . . utterly stunning.

Omg ANOTHER author with so many fics that I've yet to read, but istg one day I will because her writing is so original and gorgeous - atmospheric and richly imagistic, full of creative metaphors, I mean - I could go on. I love everything I've read by her. "of witness testimony" is this lovely and funny and yet PAINFUL, utterly painful story from Peter's POV, in which he observes (and the other oblivious Marauders do not, lol) Sirius's immense affection for/growing attraction to Remus; "in lieu of beaujolais" is a charming post-Hogwarts story in which Remus and Sirius get a flat and sometimes hook-up and spend quite a lot of time misunderstanding each other/talking around their feelings.

Okay this is actually a graphic fic/comic/etc. (so, pictures + words!), and probably I was the last person on earth to discover it, but anyway, it's haunting and beautiful and I can't let it go unrecced.

to fill a gap by @sqvalors.

An era-shifting (mainly post-Halloween & Lie Low at Lupin's) fic with, just, such lovely writing, and so much hurt, and - ah. Featuring an epigraph of obscure contemporary poetry and Lyall Lupin as a somewhat reserved but actually fucking amazing father. This story is just gut-punchy and achy and gorgeous.

THE FIRST SCENE. This story, this fucking story. I must rec it because it contains the most stunningly PSYCHO characterization of eleven-year-old Remus, and I cannot even. That freaking first scene has become one of my all-time favorite fanfic moments *ever.* Anyhow the story features various crucial bites in the lives of Remus & Sirius. Also, it is lovely and angsty and tender and so very good. And another author with so many wolfstar fics that istg one day I will read! Because this.

They made multiple Cosplay YouTube Video Series with different HP characters (the marauders era (wolfstar!), golden trio (drarry!), and more) and all of them are MASTERPIECES! S.Q.U.A.D. is their take on Queerness in the HP World. It's incredibly educational, funny, heartwarming and so so important! Oh, and freaking relatable! They did an incredible job in conveying such a complex topic in a nuanced and fun way. It's so great! Also, it's by queer/trans people about queer/trans people and that is FELT! They have since stopped making new videos but their channel will always be one of the greatest treasures within the fandom! Check it out! Summary: Follow Teddy Lupin and Vicky Weasley as they take on outdated traditions at Hogwarts and create their own (not so secret) rebellious group called SQUAD - Sourcerous Queers United Against Discrimination! “Is there a name you’d like me to call you?” by @upthehillart​​ (Trans Harry Potter, Trans Remus Lupin, Digital Art) What @samyistrying​​ loved about it: upthehillart has quite a few trans HP artworks (I could die for her NSFW ones) and she's obviously an iconic artist within the fandom, so what's not to love? I chose this particular artwork because it's such a wonderful and sweet moment between Harry & Remus and I'm probably not the only one who needed to hear (/read) Remus' words. (I might've teared up but don't tell anyone). I need to end this praise with a quote: "Never forget that there will always be people that accept us in our most truest.” (ugly crying again) Tags/Warnings: nothing, just wholesomeness

This begins a journey of self-exploration and transition for Harry as she blossoms into her true self. It's cozy, it hugs you softly, it feels right. I love a good sip of polyamory and I found that this little thing is a good bite of validation for those who need it. Summary: It’s a cold winter’s night, and Tonks is working the late shift. That means chimney cake, hot cocoa, and stories in front of the fire, while Bill and Fleur wait for their missing third to come home. The relationships were rich and deep, and the feelings in this were both raw and immensely powerful. I related strongly to parts as a transmasculine nonbinary person, and the topic was covered honestly and thoroughly. Harry and Severus' characterizations were gorgeous, and the evolution of their relationship was stunning to watch. This is a must read for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Summary: Several years after defeating Voldemort, Junior Auror Harry Potter discovers himself and, at the risk of losing his childhood love, follows the truth. Through it all, Snape is an unexpected solace. Will he become more? At no point in this story does he absorb a very mysterious magical residue that drains his magical core. He never develops any sort of dream link that causes him to share his nightmare-turned-vaguely-intimate-dreams with anyone, and he certainly never begins to find Draco Malfoy attractive… or does he?

When a run-of-the-mill investigation turns up evidence that the Death Eaters may be resurfacing, Harry seems to be the only one who believes Malfoy has anything to do with it. Yet according to official records, he’s been the poster child for the Ministry’s post-war Rehabilitation program, living in a small muggle town in Wales. It’s obvious that he’s guilty of something, but a Malfoy that rides a bike and reads poetry is not exactly what Harry had been picturing all these years.

Pairing - Helena Ravenclaw/Petunia Evans

Unrequited romance! Angst! Helena Ravenclaw is scary/obsessive/really good at observing things. Also she has a type. Tragedy is her type! Really beautiful fic with a chilling atmosphere.

Though Petunia's soul is unscathed and tender, a peculiar aura still clings about her, unseen—perhaps the faintest echo of disaster, or a grim destiny narrowly escaped. As if in some other world, where even phantoms cannot enter, this sweet child might have turned so bitter cold that none could have kissed her without the chill piercing to the roots of their teeth.

I loved this fic because of the Minerva McGonagall descriptions and the pining vibe written with a dry voice. The descriptions are truthful without exaggerating but also really really in love. Also I loved Talia as Madam Malkin's name. It's my new headcanon now.

Of course she had seen her before, Minerva McGonagall, she had been two years below her, but the last time Talia had seen her, she’d been all elbows and knees, too tall to be graceful, her face flecked with red spots as she shouted bloody murder at the person who’d knocked the bludger into her.

 Better Than Writing Lines

Classic Teacher/Student. Dirty/hot/wrong. Definitely read the warnings on this one!

Also Maxwrite! <3 Totally deserves everything ever because they wrote the best Percy fics of all time IMO! Subjective! Also ruined Percy fics for me. I love this author so much and read them canon blind.

 Beetle Dreams

Pairing - Luna/Rita

Hot, hot, sensual, beautiful! Luna finds a beetle. She takes it to her room and begins studying it. At night the beetle transforms but she thinks she is dreaming. Happy ending. Beautiful Luna characterization. The Rita characterization is going to depend on your taste. But this is a brilliant fic with a great take on the Animagus and Mysterious Lover tropes.

This is what she wants, what she needs. A woman with the wisdom of a mother and the touch of a lover. Someone who will listen to her, talk to her and strip her down to her own human skin. And then, naked and bare, they'll become animals together.

 Rákóczi March

Pairing - Minerva/Bathilda

Rákóczi March is a lyrical and unique fic about growing up and finding out what the world is really like.

This fic is set after Grindelwald's defeat. In a change from canon, he was executed. Bathilda goes to Nurmengard to bury Grindelwald because she is his last relative. Minerva is the Ministry rep who escorts her.

The youthful vibe of Minerva's POV stands out in contrast with the really complicated emotions Bathilda is going through and the horrible cost of war. It was making me think about a child soldiers meta I have read about Harry and his generation. I loved the Minerva characterization in this one. There's a lot of layers in the fic but I probably need to reread it a couple of times to write a better rec.

Lilac was her scent. Brighter than the moon over Alföld was her gaze. And her hands, when they came to hold me, were not weighed by atoning sorrow.

She met me as a lover must, free of care and freely giving.

In blunt and clumsy bard's offering, I cloaked her in hope's march.

Rec note - This author has other beautifully written, brilliant, unique rare pair fics which are the only ones for those pairings on AO3. Some of my favorites are Gyre and Gimble (Draco/Charity), Homily (Delphi/Hermione), My Beamish Boy (Aberforth/Albus), Epic of the Forgotten (Viktor/Voldemort), All the wild summer was in Her Gaze (Minerva/Ollivander) and The Pilgrim Soul in You (Walburga/Snape). If you are into rare rare pairs, definitely check those out and get your mind blown.

This fic made me think about how much progress has actually happened for LGBT rights. A long way to go. But lots of progress. The characters here have to be secret about their relationships and it's really scary. Lavender marriage vibes.

"What it we got tired of it, Min?" she asked.

"Tired of living together in wedded bliss? Of being with each other?"

Millie gave Minerva's shoulder a little slap. "Of course not, goosey! Tired of the whole business, I mean -- the potion, and the schedules, and seeing Elph naked, and oh. . .just all of it. In a lot of ways, we'd still be hiding, you know. . .just with a lot more complications."

Rec Note - This author has a lot of really rare rare pairs. Pairing - Marietta/Millicent

A beautiful fic about two characters who made some mistakes. They are worried if people will remember them only because of their mistakes. A really good exploration of their insecurities, vulnerabilities, fears. The perfect fic to close the list with!

Two awkward young witches far away from their world, finding their way down from a seaside cliff in late July, walking close together on the narrow path, so close nobody can see they're holding hands. It's too early to tell, Marietta tells herself as they come into view of the hotel and Millicent presses her hand once more before letting go. It might not last. It might not be anything, after all.

Then again, she thinks it might.

okay so i totally played myself here: this started out as a cracky spite reclist, but i should have known better… i may now have fifteen new ships.

1. remus/hermione

look. i don’t just have a fic rec for this. i have a rec for a ship manifesto (original link | wayback machine) and rec list (LJ comm het-reccers | wayback machine)

Because of the slim canon interaction and the many obstacles to writing the pairing, it’s often done badly. But I think when it’s done well, it’s done very well; a writer who can keep the two characters true to the Remus and Hermione that we know and still write a convincing relationship between them tends to be a good writer. Consequently, there are some real gems among the fandom. In conclusion, yes, this is difficult to write and indeed to get your head around. But done well, it can be challenging, thought-provoking, fluffy, angsty, dark and hot. Often all at the same time. And in a fandom that ships cephalopods, this can only be a good thing.

first entry on that reclist is a ~10k E-rated fic titled after a shakespeare sonnet, and the rec begins:

This is by far my favorite fic in any fandom or ship. It's a beautiful story that depicts how these two characters slowly weave into each other.

2. remus/lily

holy fuck this ship blindsided me with the angst and tragedy!! mwpp era writers, why are you Like This.

The Day After by violet_quill (1k, E). canon compliant, november the first, 1981, adultery. the repeating motif of street trash hurts me.

He doesn't think about how he doesn't like coffins anymore than he likes bars; he doesn't wonder who has the worse fate. He tries not to remember that he will be the only one left to put flowers on the graves. He doesn't think about James either.

A Year In The Life by copperbadge (41k, T): what a love affair! loved exploring a faculty romance through the eyes of these two, and the ending was so painfully drawn out! the Rent lyrics!!!

4. remus/sybil trelawney

two more POA with perfectly characterized dramatic trelawney, who Sees and is completely, hilariously wrong with her interpretation -- i adore this trope sm.

A Different Fate by lordhellebore (6.5k, T): remus and petunia raise dudley and a disabled harry au, in 65 x 100-word drabbles. fluffy, angsty, a surprisingly wholesome take on this pairing!

7. remus/narcissa

Disparities by @puuvillaa (2.5k, M). first war fic, yummy hatesex, who is using who?

Fallen Stars by @siriusly-sapphic (4k, T): hogwarts-era alternative sorting slytherin remus au is such a good setup for this pairing!

8. remus/bellatrix

lots of intriguing takes on this pairing!

Bellatricked by Ellen Smithee (ellensmithee) (800, E): dark remus lupin, er, snuff.

What the Moon Revealed by Maria_de_Salinas (2k, E): can’t go wrong with a good first war hatesex!

Before the Veil by Donna_Immaculata (4k, E): more snuff fic hahaha. implied wolfstar, established snupin

worth mentioning that this pairing is not ALL snuff fic -- there’s a surprising amount of soft!bellatrix -- but tbh i liked these better.

9. remus/fleur

before marrying bill, fleur wants to make sure she is… Riding The Real Thing by snapealina (2k, E).

there’s also an interesting muggle art camp counselor/camper au (5k, M)!

10. remus/pansy

Pruddy's Inn by littlealex (2k, E): post-canon au, ahhh gorgeous '00s era fic.

Pansy's legs disentangle themselves from around Remus' shoulder and arm, and Remus collapses on top of her, unable to support his own weight. She sighs contentedly and threads her fingers through his hair, her eyes still shut firmly against reality. What good is reality, she muses, if I can just pretend to get what I want?

11. remus/cho

The Heart by bloodsugarlove (7k, T). teacher/student told from teacher pov is always fascinating and the prose in this one is unique and lovely! note: doesn’t warrant the underage warning, no whiff of underage sex anywhere.

It's something of a scandal that Cho is seeker for Ravenclaw; many girls appear threatened by this, though they can't deny that is is rather decent at the position. Boys think it is fascinating, and Chang herself is arrogant in the most charming way. Not that Mr. Lupin really thinks so, mind you; it's a collective opinion, and anyway he has had quite his fill of arrogance. He has had quite his fill of a lot of things. He would really rather think of something else.

12. remus/luna

Stubby Boardman and the Cacao Bean by kestrelsan (2k, G), a remix fic!!! loved the original drabble and it was so cool to see it expanded into this oneshot.

honestly this is a real quality ship! in addition to all the delicious smutty kink fic that’s all over the ship tag, there’s also:

this postwar perfection -- he was learning what was real: like Heliopaths and Snorcacks and love! -- Bearing Fruit by @paulamcg (2k, M),

this creaturehunting mission fic, with multiple pieces of fanart, created for @hpdrizzle fest 2017: The Naturists by hikorichan (9k, T)

open my heart (let it bleed onto yours) by @lunapwrites (~20k (wip), E) -- a fascinatingly, wonderfully explored postwar marriage law au!

Big Teeth/Little Red by PacificRimbaud (5k, M): oh my god this was utterly delightful. it’s a library meet-cute and a halloween party and the age differences, hahaha. a ton of age gap pairings here -- harry/pansy is the only one that is not, iirc.

While he tugs at the cap, he wonders at the audacity of living one’s life as Sirius Black. What must it be like: to understand the line between being a man who has bad ideas, and being a bad man? To gleefully ride along the edge of it, to toss away all but your own discernment, to simply do what you would like to do so long as no one’s being harmed, to not worry about what your desires say about you, to call your godson’s half-dressed former girlfriend a bad idea to her waggishly smiling face at your kitchen table and to let yourself bask in the fallout, sated like a wolf that's helped itself to a lamb. A— …big bad wolf…

15. remus/andromeda

Shelter at Your Door by starfishstar (13k, T): an andromeda doesn’t elope, marries and later leaves lucius au. the r/a relationship in this au is so well-written, their compatibility is so lovely, and although tonks is never born in this au, the r/t echoes are deliciously haunting!

"So," she said softly, pressing down against him, and Remus, following instinct at last, arched to meet her. "Are we doing this?" "Yes," Remus agreed, a whisper in her ear. "We're doing this." Careful not to sound judgemental about it, Andromeda asked, "Have you done this before?" With Remus and his insistence that everything about himself was dangerous and not to be allowed, it was difficult to know. He gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Yeah. Couple of times." "Oh?" she teased, still gentle. "What happened to being too dangerous for anything beyond friendship?" Remus' mouth made a wry twist. "It found itself on a collision course with being nineteen years old and horny, that's what happened to it."
