Bit of a different one for you. Found this art of a hypothetical post-war Ukrainian Abrams. It looks really cool; what I would like to know is, with your knowledge of tanks, could all these upgrades/changes be done, and how difficult would they be?

To make a long story short: Yes, all of these changes are possible.

However, the question that arises is the level of difficulty, and whether it would be a positive change. As far as the gun goes, I assume OP meant the KBM-2, which is a Ukranian 120mm smoothbore gun meant to convert a T-72 to use NATO standard shells. However, I personally do not see any advantage to outfitting an Abrams in this way, as the L/44 M256 120mm gun on the M1A2 is specifically designed to mesh with its stabilization and targeting systems, and quite frankly, any conversion would be more work than it's worth.

Now, on the topic of mounting Nizh ERA modules, this is one area where I can't say much, as the USG is notoriously tight-lipped on the exact countermeasures employed on current-gen Abrams systems, however I really do like the Nizh, and the conversion, to my knowledge, would be possible, though I can't speak to level of difficulty.

Now, when we come to the engine, this is where news gets a lot more positive. One of the largest flaws in the design of its 1500hp AGT1500 gas turbine engine, which, admittedly, has fallen somewhat behind the curve in the modern level of tank development. When the Abrams was being produced, gasoline turbines were by far more effective, powerful, and cost efficient than any diesel engine. However, as time has gone on, technology has advanced to a point where that is no longer the case, and modern diesel engines have caught up, meaning that a diesel engine with similar specs would likely bring operational costs and logistical difficulties down significantly. So, a change to an engine like the Ukranian 6TD-3 would be beneficial for the M1, though the difficulty in doing so could prove challenging. However, if an open collaboration between General Dynamics and Ukranian sources were established (as has been done with Abrams localization projects in the past), I'm sure it could be done.

A lot has happened since my last post!!! I got some floating plants (selvinia and frogbit):

I got some meds to dose the tank with that should take care of any parasites the fishies came home with that clouded up the water, but are giving me some real peace of mind!

Horribly I've had an outbreak of uninvited snails IN THE TANK!!!! of which I am seriously hoping are bladder snails but they were too small for me to identify. I've seen and removed 4 so far.

Took out my driftwood, worried there were snails living on/in it and gave them a good scrub with a toothbrush and inspection. I put them back in in different spots to try and keep the Snail Epicenter clear. I've found 3/4 of them on the gravel under/around the one driftwood piece and the 4th heading down from the waterline on the back wall.

I think I like this arrangement with the right piece leaning on the left piece better than what I had before, so I'll probably keep it similar when I move them back to the center.

And, finally!!! I got a tiger nerite to keep snailissa company. I moved them into the tank this morning because I was concerned about them not eating in the vase I was quarantining them in. Unfortunately the tip of their shell is gone so I hope they'll recover quickly with our hard, hard water.

So far they've just opened their trapdoor but haven't moved.

My shrimp have been successfully reproducing in the 10g despite having 3 ember tetras in it so that's good news! My test of having shrimp in with them was a success :)

I always pictured Danny as liking galas. Not cause he enjoys the atmosphere but because he can cause subtle chaos. Then one time it’s not subtle at all.

Jack forces Danny to go events with Vlad. Danny just makes subtle remarks to Vlads peers about his bad practices.

Hinting towards how his wealth was massed odly and suddenly. Pointing out things that just went missing and suddenly one day Vlad just had. Overall each event he goes to Vlad looks worse and worse.

Danny has hinted to him being forced to be at event. That he doesn’t like being called little badger. He’s also getting the inside scope on new tech and ideas by playing dumb. Tucker is taking advantage of the inside info.

So there is a huge gala going to happen in Gotham. The masons and vlad are both going to be in attendance. Obviously this means Danny is getting forced into it same as Sam.

Now sam openly causes problems at the gala. Like standing on a table screaming about animal rights or something. She’s an activist she would so do it. Just imagine Damian joining in. He doesn’t like the galas either after all.

Both sam and danny snuck in reporters. Danny did it to ensure sam would never have to go to another gala. He could use them for his fun as well.

Dick is on a chandelier now to add more chaos. Jason is having the time of his life watching it all unfold.

So Danny just “unknowingly” talking to the reporters about vlad. He also starts talking about the masons. Vlad got distracted talking to another rich person he was planning to rob.

Tim assumes Danny doesn’t know he’s talking bad mouthing ti reporters and goes up to him. Danny is just like dude let me trash talk the fruitloop. When Tim subtle pulls him off to the side.

Danny “accidentally” reveals that vlad is trying to kill his father, marry his mom and adopt him. He is so used to people not believing him why would this rando.

So on top of making a gala a madhouse now the bats are investigating Vlad. Not that Danny realizes until the bats show up in amity.

bagel got his upgraded home interior last night! (sorry its dark; I'll take a brighter pic later)

moving him was made easy with my newest invention: the Jr. Tube™️!

this special transport tube is designed to let the passenger stay in the tube as they wait to return home, as well as leave it themselves when they get there, all without leaving the tank lid open!

bagel chose to come out and explore gay baby jail as he waited.

he was very chill in there, actually! after a quick inspection of the premises, he settled down in a shadow and waited patiently for me to finish redecorating his home. he even let me take a very handsome portrait of him!

what gorgeous markings hes developing! the ones on both sides of his eye are very interesting. im excited to see how they look as he grows.

hes absolutely the size crouton was when i first found her, which brings back happy memories! it also means that, based on croutons growth, little bagel likely has about 3 more months until hes fully mature.

anyway, once i finished redecorating, it was time to board the tube once more!

The floaters are in the tank!

The bubbles are from the meds, which I rationally understand, but has not stopped me from being petrified I somehow contaminated the tank with soap. 🧼☠️

I really love how red the selvinia is on the underside of the leaves, though I couldn't get a good picture of any, my phone is not super cooperative with aquarium photography.

A LOT of the roots got roughed up from rinsing and inspecting the plants, but as long as at least one survives then it will be a win.
