Okay so about the DB post. Do germans hate DB? Because danes hate DSB so so much (which i kind of think is unfair? at least in my experience) and we have this idea that DB is much better but this is the second time in like a month that i hear/see smth i think says the exact opposite. so can you like... talk a bit about DB? I'd like to know more 😅

Oh. OH. This might be the funniest ask I've ever gotten! 😂 Germans love to hate the DB! It is notoriously known for:

being late most of the time (especially on long distance rides)

therefore causing people to miss their connecting trains and reaching their destinations even later

just generally being bad at organisation and handling trouble on their routes

failing AC in summer

being surprised there's snow in winter

(the list goes on)

Generally, they're perceived to be a little ... incompetent at their job. When people have a journey coming up, they'll preemptively say something like: "wish me luck nothing goes wrong with my train ride". Mocking the DB is kind of a national sport and you'll find hundreds of memes about the DB's tardiness and bad handling of said tardiness. Here's a little selection from tumblr:

To be fair, German's do love to complain about everything and I guess it could be worse? Personally, I feel like other countries' train companies appear to be better managed, but that could be a case of "it's always greener on the other side"(?)

Something I've been thinking about after the "solver is taking over Uzi and she might have to get mercy killed just like her mom" development

A tense situation to be sure, these drones are definitely gonna have a lot to go through with these last 2 episodes. But we can all guess it'll turn out ok in the end on the basis that, that's just how stories tend to go. A meta, non-diegetic reason not to worry.

But I'm looking for a little in universe hope that they'll manage to fix this, and I think I've found one. To explain it, we need to first take a look at Tessa and V. (prepare for a lot of reading, sorry in advance)

So, Tessa has made her thoughts pretty clear during her talk with N. This is a "for the greater good" scenario, it's either kill Uzi or the Absolute Solver kills everyone. Painful but understandable.

But then we have V. When she carries Uzi back to the others, she insists they leave right then and there, and waits for N to join her.

But he hesitates because of what Tessa has told him. V is let in on this fact when Tessa tells him she hasn't been honest with V yet. The fact Tessa says this while comforting N as he hesitates tells V that Tessa said something to him to plant doubt in his mind. It also implies, to N, that V doesn't know the gravity of the situation. But that just isn't true V has just witnessed what Uzi is capable of first hand in the operating room. Hell, she's witnessed a lot of the solver's power first hand. Such as when Uzi attacked her in episode 4, and when CYN mutated her in 5. She knows this thing is dangerous. The look she gives before they leave the operating room, and her reaction to Uzi trying to her powers when they find Doll's trap, says as much.

When Tessa offers to take a look at Uzi. V immediately shows hostility towards her over not controlling the sentinels like she said she could. Then there's her line after Tessa tells N she hasn't been honest with V. It makes sense for her to be mad after Tessa implies she's been keeping something from her. But rather than directing her next question at Tess, and saying something like: "Not honest about what?" or "What haven't you told me?". She instead turns to N and asks, "What did she tell you?" Her tone isn't just angry, it's accusatory. They're interrupted by Uzi waking up, and we get this look between Tessa and V.

A blank stare met with anger and fear.

This scene seems to put Tessa and V on separate sides.

Tessa believes there's no other option but to kill off the infected drones. She doesn't want to kill Uzi, but leaving her alive puts the universe at risk. Tessa's seen what the solver did with CYN. She's seen what it did to her parents, to the other drones, to the Earth, possibly what it did to other planets, and she can't let that happen again.

V on the other hand is protecting Uzi, something that would be pretty uncharacteristic of her before. When Uzi first shows she has her solver powers at the end of episode 3, her first reaction is to take aim with her gun. And in 4, she is shown to be terrified when Uzi turns that arrow into a flesh monster. V was still willing to kill Uzi because she was showing signs of solver infection. She only stopped when N got Uzi to calm down during her rampage. After that she was willing to cover up that Uzi ate her classmates, and now she's willing to give up interrupting CYN's plan, just so they can get an injured Uzi out of there.

Tess is 100% up for killing Uzi if it means saving everyone. V, not so much. It's hard to say that she'd let the universe get destroyed to protect her new friend. But, at the very least, V seems in favor of trying to find another solution.

It's a basically the trolley problem. Tessa's answer is - flip the switch so that only 1 person dies. V's answer is - isn't there another way?

This leaves N in between the two. Where he might have to make that choice (read might as definitely going to, because that's just how stories tend to go).

Do nothing and let 5 people die, or flip a switch so only 1 person dies Do nothing and let the universe be destroyed, or kill your best friend (read friend as love interest, like this is a historical account of two "very good friends". Because while it hasn't been outright been said aloud, that's just how stories tend to go).

So who is N to side with?

And to get what I think will be the answer, we need to look at V's says at the very end of the episode. Her final words to N and Uzi before the elevator falls.

N is yelling out for her to come with them, that they need her. V dismisses this with a simple "nah." Not even a proper no. She just brushes off the idea that they need her to come with them. Up till now, she's been trying to protect N from the truth (she did this in some pretty nasty ways, but that was her intent). But now he knows about the Absolute Solver and what happened back at the manor. He's stood up to both J and V, he's not going to go down without a fight. N doesn't need any protecting, she's willing to let him handle this alone.

Then she turns to Uzi and simply says: "Uzi, I trust you." I think is V saying she trusts that Uzi won't turn out like CYN did. She trusts her to find a way to fix this.

It's because of this that I believe the show is building up to have N side with V on this.

So they'll to stick together, move forward together, or not at all. They can work together to fix this instead of all the murder.

So there you have, just some ideas to hold on to till we see this season end

This moment.

The way she touches his hand while he's helping her.

The way she looks at him.

In the game it was evident something happened, they cared for each other and they probably had a "It's the end of the world who cares, let's have sex and forget about it" from time to time. But this...this is another thing.

She loves him and I think Joel does love her too. But he's so deeply traumatized, so closed inside his grieve and self hatred, I think Joel believes he's a monster, a rabid dog as people on the QZ seems to categorize him and he thinks he's not capable and deserving of love, of compassion of hope.

And what's more heartbreaking it's to see Tess looking at him so lovingly and warmly knowing that it's her lasts moments really alive, as herself. The last looks of Joel she can have like "let me look at you while I still can feel as a human"

I think the most horrifying idea of the infected it's not the bite, o the grossness of the Fungi, it's the idea that somehow they're alive and nobody really knows if they're just carcasses for the fungi to spread or if there's some of the human still inside, trapped without a choice.

Tess's life ends with hope, she believes Ellie can change everything, but she dies confessing her love and not getting anything back because Joel, while still alive, has no hope.

hot take but i think people in general need to lighten up about other characters in a story hating on/doing something bad to their favorite character. for instance, i am a joy stan till i die but there is undeniable humor in her getting roasted within an inch of her life by amber and the like.

am I the only one who thinks it's kinda sad that so many fandoms are retreating into their own discord servers? like, I get that it's nice to have an exclusive place to talk to likeminded people and where you can post stuff without fear of idiots latching onto it, but ... exclusive means also others get shut out. some people don't have the nerve or time for discord. and if I'm new to a fandom and don't have any other people to contact, the tags are the first thing I'll get to see and ... most of them are just full with AO3 links, which (no offence) I could just go to AO3 for, a few pics, some personal posts ... and that's it. there's hardly anthing in the tags anymore, while a lot of stuff gets discussed and posted in discord.

Scriptliss and Tess Aract deserved a better ending, change my mind I just- feel like there could've been more done with 1x1x1x1 if he wasn't killed off--it'd be more compelling, in my opinion- though I'm aware I'm...absolutely biased.

I already know this is gonna be a sorta long post, but like,, can we all just be selfish and give em a happier ending?? I refuse to settle for the canon one >:( good for angst, but not good for my feels, man,,, besidesss, I find the idea of them trying to help restore SOME semblance of humanity in 1x1x1x1, after the whole...rift of light ordeal, fun to spin around in my lil monke brain

like...having little conversations and visits, even if it'd definitely be pretty rocky in the beginning--I imagine it's possible for 1x to tone down enough for an actual chat, especially if he doesn't have anything else to do? almost like a slow-burn, but in terms of...sorta more like a redemption arc

maybe have some sort of fragment of hope of restoring Tess's consciousness- yknow,,? 1x's motives weren't--entirely clear, as far as I'm aware, so who's to say he doesn't have some morals buried- well...probably pretty far down? I'd honestly imagine most of his motives are- well...related to freedom. at least at this point, anyways. that cryptic creature has basically been constantly imprisoned in some sense or another for...probably most of it's existence?

plus, I mean- it's debatable if he'd even be sent back to Banland. especially considering how it...basically seems all of the other antagonists/criminals got off relatively scot-free. (we don't talk about Tretone,,)

I wouldn't put it past being possible for them to...sorta let him roam free, as long as someone regularly checks up on and keeps him under close watch--so he doesn't try anything. cause- let's be honest, he definitely would the second you turn away--mostly out of spite.

or- yknow...use the Plot Book to render him powerless, if not just straight up separate him from his host--depending on how far the capabilities of it go? also, like- what about Sphara? it's likely that she doesn't have the same power she had when she was an oracle, but I've always wondered if she could've been an option. she's been asleep for a long time--so I'd imagine they might not have tried consulting with her about it.

I just refuse to believe that the whole- situation with Tess Aract was truly a lost cause. maybe a fragile, time-consuming one- but...not completely hopeless.

there's just- so many other possibilities of how it could've went, it's...almost disappointing,, if- by any chance, anyone else has any ideas/interpretations, I'd honestly like to hear em,,!

But Joel was frozen to his spot, unmoving. There was a faint ringing in his ears, vision swimming red. Helplessness, a brutal mistress, wound her spindles around his chest until he couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. His thoughts were slow, hazy - thick like molasses, an unrelenting mass he couldn’t seem to cut through. Before him stood the only person he had allowed himself to feel anything for at all in the past twenty years - the only person he trusted in this cruel fever dream that the world had become. 

And finally, fate had come to pry the last semblance of humanity he had left, curled in the sweat of his palm and the tears behind his eyes. 

He couldn’t even blink, let alone respond. This was not happening. This was Sarah all over again. This was everything he had run from all fucking over again. 

“Go, Joel.” When he made no move to leave, she sighed. 

“You have to make a choice. Get the fuck out now - save them all, with her. She can do it, Joel. You know she can.” She kicked the barrel next to her, the acrid smell of gasoline assaulting his senses as it spilled over his boots. “Or die a senseless, pathetic death because you were too fucking soft.” 

He could see the desperation building in her eyes - the pleading overtaking her tone, despite the bite of her words. The tears reflected in her gaze as she searched his face, practically begging him to go. 

And Joel grabbed Ellie’s hand, and ran. 

His eyes refused to leave her. This was Tess, this was home. This was everything he had ever known being taken from him. Again.

He looked over her - over the familiar planes of her face, of the hair he had spent hours playing with, and the skin he had confessed his stories into. He met her eyes again, a wordless goodbye.

Does our brains have like some sorta of electricity?

Yea! There are ions of molecules in the brain which are charged particles that create signals on the form of electric currents in the brain which we receive in nerves as signals

Basically there are these things called Voltage-gated channels which specialized proteins embedded in the cell membrane, and they respond to changes in the membrane potential (voltage) by opening or closing, regulating the flow of ions across the membrane. In the context of the brain, it’s sodium (Na+) and potassium (K+) voltage-gated chan

And cells are polarized, so more negative inside than outside. So when a signal is released, and breaks a certain threshold, voltage-gated sodium channels open, allowing sodium ions to rush into the cell. This depolarizes the cell and triggers an action potential.

Then the action poetical travels along this bit in the neuron, the axon, and the signal is sent in an electric signal. Other channel gates open once the signal is done and depolarizes the cell back to normal… and the electric signal carries through the brain til it reaches the point it needs to reach…

So yea, electricity and charges are always happening in the brain :)
