The Devil in Me is a really interesting game to me, and I’ve already seen some stuff on here about Charlie’s deaths, and I just realized something.

The death you can get after tying Charlie up is obviously very messed up (but also morbidly cool and probably one of the most “serial killer” feeling deaths in the game in my opinion) but there’s another level to it.

Charlie died from falling, right? I mean the back of his skull was split open, so Du’met must’ve pushed him off the cliff. I believe the paper was put into his mouth before he died, because it’s soaked with blood. If it was put there post-mortem, it would just have a little blood on it (presumably) but since it was probably in his mouth when he hit the stone, it got covered with blood when he spit up blood after his bones got all broken and insides all messed up (very scientific terms, I know). Also, Du’met wouldn’t have crawled down there with him and then tried to climb back up just for the paper, as that would be a very risky trek.

So that means that the word “COMPLICIT” carved on his chest was done before the fall. When Charlie was still alive.

Du’met put the paper in his mouth to keep the group from hearing his screams in pain as he took the time to carve a word into his chest.

I don’t know if that’s super obvious to everyone else, but I just thought about it and wanted to share as I think it adds an extra layer of horror to that death.

(Poor Charlie, but I think the developers know we all love some good old fashioned angst)
