♡ ・ LETTERS TO THOSE WE MOTHER ━━━ an introspective, drabble series dedicated to zephia & eremiya

. a few days after apping zephia, i reread the script of NMotE and fell in love with eremiya's character. the potential, the archetype, and most of all, the backstory she was given. though i disliked how it was thrown messily into the script, i had no doubt that she could be a character i'd enjoy writing. which, then, led me to wonder how similar and different she and zephia were. and i must admit that i grew obsessed with the idea of them interacting with one another ( though, at first, the thought definitely stemmed from a flickering, romantic piece i wrote for them. pardon my insanity it was a voice test for eremiya,, ).

thus, i created this! letters to those we mother, is a drabble series where i hope to do an in-depth exploration of their characters, both in who they are, what they are, and the potential was created for them. though this is self-indulgent, i hope to entertain whoever reads along, whether in succession or standalone.

thank you, TOA, for letting me have the opportunity to explore writing styles within this setting, as these two would never tolerate one another otherwise.

. SYNOPSIS. what happens when fodlan shatters the mirror separating an archetype? what should unfold when these two sides, cut from the same lengths of glass, find their hands touching, skin-upon-skin, without the safety of a reflection?

zephia dahut kurosawa, a mage dragon faithful at the feet of her lord, and eremiya n. ahava, a bishop condemned to obey the voice of her lord, have crossed into each other's territory and, thus, will embark on the reluctant path that mothers must retrace once their children have grown into young adults. a lifestyle they would have walked, separately, lest their corruptions never been birthed.

neither of these beasts have savored the taste of motherhood the way fate planned them to. so, what now? will their faith create permanent cracks in the mirror? will a dragon's realism and a bishop's pessimism meld together into the flawed glimpse of another; optimism?

DISCLAIMERS. neither zephia or eremiya are characters that will be redeemed in this series. instead, i hope to explain their conditions and explore the consequences to which they must be condemned. with this in mind, understand that these two muses are bad people and will not change automatically in the first drabble. the journey of self-introspection is a long one.

Welcome to part two of my positivity shoutouts. I will be doing these in alphabetical order and hope my scattered brain won’t forget anyone. @bloodiedrubies - because i am a scatterbrain and shamefully forgot this gem in yesterday’s post under the letter b, i’ll do that now and ask for forgiveness ( i blame my wonky follower list for not showing you xD ). Man, another blog that is so good that it is hard to put into words. Rhaegar is technically not in our hotd timeline, but the mun has verses that make it super easy to interact and the writing is just incredible. so much quality, such an incredible grasp on the character. cannot recommend the blog enough!

@dionai - damn, what can i say? SO much talent! all of the muses are impeccable and the aesthetics are *chef’s kiss*. the writing is extremely good and the mun a sweetheart <3 i can only say wonderful things about them!

@dcrilaros - a wonderful interpretation of daemon that is very true to his character. the mun is also absolutely lovely and i adore them. hope this motivates them to come back to daemon and bless our dashes again

@dracharenae - technically not a hotd strictly speaking, but since i have decided to include everyone who rps into our world, i could never skip this wonderful human being and their amazing muses. even though rhaenys lives a little later than most of our babies, the mun has many verses and is incredibly approachable & always helpful. the writing is so beautiful and i stan everything they touch.

@degriseo - another wonderful multi with beautifully written hotd characters! i’ve had this one on my dash for a long time and love to quietly stalk their wonderful threads. everything they write is just awesome and creative!

@dragcnsdaughter - so much love for this one! dany is an absolutely wonderfully fleshed out character in all of the mun’s verses and the writing is just beautiful. the mun is also a super kind person ooc and i am so happy we get to write together on both of their blogs. lots and lots of talent &lt;3

@fallesto - ah, my sweet, sweet fallesto. i have so much love and adoration for you, i could never put it into words. we have written the most gut wrenching angst together and the sweetest romances & everything is just perfect. all the characters are absolutely on point and the mun is incredibly kind & approachable. i hope you’ll never get tired of me, because i adore you endlessly.

ADMIN E here, writing one stupidly long love letter to the group ! so this is it, hshq has come to its end. this is a very bittersweet moment but it still feels oddly right. i would have loved to see hshq thrive indefinitely but once every story has been written out, there's not much to expand on. i'm laughing at the fact that we really closed on april fool's day: very poetic, don't you think ? when i think about hshq, i sort of imagine it as this sanctuary that has remained the same at its essence thorough the years. i joined the group as a high school freshman. back then i had bounced from group to group, always losing muse or the group closing before it had even properly even opened. little did i know i'd find myself adminning the group for almost a decade !!!! we've seen so many plotlines and characters, the level of writing in this group has always astonished me. some pieces of writing have even stuck with me and it's been amazing to see how much everyone has matured over the years. one-liners ended up getting forgotten, which was both a good and a bad thing: i liked how every reply had more substance but i was saddened by the fact that easy-going and quick back-and-forth interactions disappeared because of it. i've laughed at the silly threads, funny quips, and awkward interactions. i've genuinely shed a tear or two having read the most heart-breaking or self-loathing texts. i don't know if it's a good thing that i've become so invested in the fictional lives of these fictional royals but i really hope to read how their stories end. it almost feels like saying a goodbye to dear friends.

ADMIN J here, embarrassingly emotional to say goodbye ! when i first joined this group, teen wolf and reign fcs dominated the rpc. starters with no prose, bar the text on gigantic gifs, were horrifically rampant. and, on the opposite side of the spectrum, rarely would you ever see muns over the age of 19 ( imagine being old and writing about a silly little fictional royal ??? ). i never would have pictured that we'd still be here, all these years later, on the other side of it all. many of us weren't allowed to legally drink when we'd first joined, and now we're finishing up degrees and at our adult jobs ?? this makes me sick. it's so insane to think about how much we've all grown in our time with hshq. eve put it perfectly – it's been a sanctuary over so many years and it's brought me such joy to refresh my dash to keep up to date with my favourite otps – and the list is long. the rpc wasn't kind to my timezone, but you guys have made my late nights extremely worth it. from the wild events, to the crazy outfit posts, to angsty paras, and silly one-liners, you've kept me sat. it's been an absolute joy for us, over the past decade or so, to have built a world with such a rich history and complex characters – wiki pages for fictional characters ? i will never not be impressed by the sheer talent in this group. thank you for sharing your stories with us and letting us be a part of it.

Born to Spanish parents who got divorced when she was around 5 years old. Her mother went on to marry her now stepfather, a Japanese man that moved the family to his home country.

about speed

fluctuates from day to day.    i’m not so much a  busy  person as i am a  chronically exhausted  one.    i do try to keep people updated on when i’m not going to be around or when i don’t plan on sitting down and putting my fingers to keys.    this can also be dictated by where my brain is at the time.    i may be lightning with one muse and a snail with another.    it  rarely  has to do with my partners and more to do with brainrot and my unwillingness to force out content.    but sometimes a scrub just..  needs a break, too.

regarding replies   

on a  good  day when i’m feeling my oats for all the characters on my roster(s), they come out in order and i’m just ocd enough to  match word/letter counts  to keep my sanity stable.    one a  bad  day though ?    i’ll hyperfixate on one or two muses and the rest could take weeks+ to be got to.    again, this isn’t a matter or me not liking the storyline or my partner, i just know how i am and if i want to write something i will.    if i don’t ?    i know it’s not going anywhere and so long as my partners are okay with me jumping around ?    we’ll be hunky dory. xo

woof.    okay, so here’s the pickle with starters of late, for me at least ;   i get pretty burnt out when i write them, they get a like, and then there’s never any activity on it again.    it makes me feel like there’s some  what’s the point  tension in there and i do get kind of irritated after that with the partners who do it.    i don’t always write for my own amusement.    that said,  i can whip out a starter at the drop of a hat.    i don’t always need a subject and i can usually wing it enough to make sense, timelines be damned.    but for me to hunker down and get to that ?    i like to know the person/people i’m writing them for will, y’know, make something of it.    this has grown into a nasty trend and it’s draining.    i can feel myself slipping.    sos.

high.    it’s nothing personal, i just know me and i know i don’t have the social battery to really keep up with a high tally of folks.    i’m not concerned with aesthetics,  though i like to pretend mine is noice.    i don’t care about icons or if you format your replies.    i like a partner who  puts their all into their writing above all else.    someone i can tell, by looking, is committed to their muse(s) and will be around for the long haul if we plot something out.    because i’m so picky though, i do a good deal of softblocking and the occasional hardblock if someone keeps following me back with no payout.    i’ve been neck deep in this hobby for a very long time and i don’t have the same patience i used to.

i am not good at maintaining conversation out of character.    i will, at some point, go quiet and, if you want to give me a poke, please do.    this rarely ever translates to my eagerness or willingness to write with a person though.    as said before, the social battery is low and after a while, for the sake of unwinding, i’ll clam up.    i also just ???    rather  focus myself on getting replies  and the like done when i’m typing ?    chitchat sometimes can feel monotonous and i see it as a distraction.    now, plotting ?    if something is real ripe and juicy, i probably won’t shut up and then i’m sorry for that, too. :l

hi anon! i understand your concern because, sadly, that's something i've gone through as a mun in the past. from my experience and from my perspective, i wouldn't say we're cliquey. we've had a few anons reach out regarding not always being able to reply to text posts & asks, so that seems like it could be a factor. also, our activity is quite laidback so members might not always be around to know what's going on / who is asking for faceclaim help. there are times when the dash moves slow and, being that it’s in the middle of the week, a lot of people are busy doing school, work or other activities. luckily, we have a good group of muns who come from all over the globe -- but timezones do play a role in this. we have members whose morning is the same as the middle of the night for others. as our members have fluctuated, so has the speediness of the dash. the members who are liking / commenting on the post seem to be the ones who are around, which i'm grateful for all the help! again, thanks for voicing this concern and reaching out to us. members, if you’ve been feeling left out in any way, i want to help you the best i can. please let me know so i can address this!

Izo was used to people wanting to go out with him - mostly due to his elegant appearance, which always made him capable of going at the most fancy places, not matter what. So when he read your letter, he wasn't really surprised, though he had to admit it was definitely a new way to ask him out.

He wasn't interested in cooking for you on the first date or let you cook for him. He was more than satisfied with what Thatch cooked for him or what he could get at the restaurants. Besides, cooking always meant cleaning and he was not in the mood to clean anything on a first dateor let you clean things. A first date was meant as a mean to get to know each other better.

Rising from his chair, he unwrinkled his kimono. Giving himself a last glance in the mirror, he left his room to go and find you. While he didn't mind recieving your application, he was a man that liked to talk face to face if possible.

Gracefully he glided over to you, once he found you. A calm smile danced upon his red painted lips.

"Rya-mun." His voice was deep and smooth, indicating he was in a good mood. "About your application. I've decided to give you the opportunity to get to know me, as I do want to get to know you better. Honestly...? At this stage, I really could not tell you. I’ve been writing since I was about nine/ten years old; I got into Neopets around that age, wanted to see what the chatrooms were all about (this was back in the day where you could send a letter to their head office and get approved), found the roleplay forum and did not look back.

If I had to hazard a guess that wasn’t like ‘generic high school roleplay’, ‘fantasy roleplay’ or anything like that, I would say it was Kingdom Hearts. It’s where I met my partner, and we think we were both anywhere around 10-13 at the time. Unless Neopets itself counts as a fandom, but I’d argue it was more a platform where I found fandom RP. Either or!

ABE: So I don’t hate any of the characters I write. If I actually hated them, I couldn’t write them. Abe is probably one of my more disagreed muses (in terms of the mun’s feelings) and I’m purely interested in him because of all the potential he had and the fact I’m trying to figure someone so opposite of me and anyone I write. So that’s why I put 1/2 mark on the dislike box because it’s only half true.

I think if we saw a more historically accurate Abe to how he really was like, it would’ve been more interesting and made Abe a more likeable character. The Abe we see in t.urn seems almost the complete opposite of the rather paranoid, faithful, vengeful, and family-oriented man we see through his letters. I like the whole complex relationship with Richard at time and thinking deeply about why Abe does the things he does (his whole strained past, not having the life he wished he could have had, the more improved but still strained marriage with Mary towards the end of the show). I like these factors but I think the writers were way more sympathetic and favorable of Abe than the fans were and they kept trying to get the fans to see that. (And the weird comedic twist to Abe. The warm egg part is iconic but the whole “I have to go take a shit” is kinda weird to me lmao). They tried to make Abe more likeable there but it didn’t work for me. I really wish turn writers honed in more on the “intelligent” side of Abe that we see as he acts as a lawyer and pinning Rogers as Samuel Culper. I don’t mind Abe as the main character and obviously a lot of screen time is good for my writing of him, but idk I felt like the writers really wanted the audience to like him and a majority of us didn’t like him as much as the other characters. I kinda wish that they were okay with a dislikeable protagonist. I wish they did more with how Thomas, his brother, death affected him and how he got PTSD from his time as a spy and his time in the Sugar House (especially with his time in the British Army, with all of those beds and crowded spaces). That would’ve given Abe more complexity that the writers attempted to do with him (that really fell flat imo). Regardless, I am still into Abe and into exploring him as a character, through ships, dynamics, plots, etc, etc. Like most of my muses, I find songs that suit them and it helps me get into the mood to write them. (I put overrated in terms of the writers’ positive opinion of him, not the fandom’s opinion because he’s a heavily disliked character fandom-wise).
