hey, i don't want to put you out or anything, i was just wondering if like off the top of your head if you knew any disability studies articles/books/whatever that center (or even just feature) tic/involuntary movement disorders?

so the answer to this was pretty much no but i spent a bit of time poking around and turned up this 2023 undergraduate honors thesis (link) by a student with tourette’s which seems like a solid starting point for going down the citation rabbit hole!

that piece is “The Embodied Performance of Tics and Tourette Syndrome in the Academic Environment” by Benjamin Allen; i’m only ~1/4th through rn but they argue for a continuum of ticcing + criticize the diagnostic system so i’m comfortable reccing it on that front! the (non-medical) tic-related works cited there are:

also if you haven’t already read Rosemarie Garland-Thomson’s Staring: Why We Look, it’s not specifically about involuntary movements but definitely a core text for theorizing any visibilized disability.

Hi, I’m loving the advent so far! How do you get your patterns to look so natural? Whenever I make patterns I either get these crusty lines at the edges of some channels where one channel bleeds into the other. Or, I get these super sharp unnatural edges on them that never look any good. Teach me your magic please lol.

There are a few things you can do to solve color bleed and crusty lines while making the Sims 3 patterns. These tips are for Photoshop and the TSR Workshop pattern tool, though they also work for Delphy's pattern tool. The EA CAP tool compresses its image files automatically, so you have no control over it afaik. Save your textures uncompressed! Most of your problem should be solved by saving your images in an uncompressed DDS file format (depending on what DDS plugin you use, it "8.8.8.8 argb 32bpp unsigned" or, in newer versions, "8.8.8.8 bgra 32bpp unsigned". This is an image of the newer dds plugin export dialog with the settings I use:

This reduces blockiness and color bleed significantly! Note: For maximum visual clarity and the sake of our eyes, starting from now, I will show just the contents of the individual color channels of the image, specifically green and blue. If you click on a single color channel in Photoshop, it will be represented in greyscale. My screenshots therefore also represent a single color channel and do not show how the colors interact with each other. I thought it would be distracting and hard to see if I presented everything in color and this tutorial is not about how to build a pattern, but how to get crisp outlines and the best possible quality.

What is the issue with compressed textures? EA's pattern textures are DDS files that use DXT compression (DXT1 for non-alpha/5 for alpha images, BC1/3 in the newer plugin). If you save your image as a compressed DDS file and reopen it, you will notice that certain areas are blocky/blotchy. That is because lightness and color information is not retained for every pixel, but areas get grouped together in a more or less chessboard-like fashion. In this first example, I increased the contrast to make these compression artifacts more visible so you can see what's going on: Notice the grey blocky areas?

These cause color bleed in the final pattern and the textures look blurry or washed out. EA's textures have this issue too, because they use compression. In some patterns, the effect is less noticeable than in others, but compressed files will always have a reduced image quality compared to the original image. Deciding to go with uncompressed textures was essential for me to achieve the quality I offer. I reasoned that the patterns are only 256px in size and the performance impact should not be very noticeable. I once made a survey in which I asked whether my patterns cause performance issues, and most said they did not, so I stuck with it.

You could test it out for yourself and decide! If you want to continue to use compression, make sure to change the quality of the compression algorithm to get the best possible result. In the screenshot I posted at the beginning of the tutorial, you can see that I set it to "highest" instead of the usual default "fastest", though this is not really needed if you save uncompressed files. The old DDS plugin used on older Photoshop versions also has that setting, it is just a bit more obscure. I do not have that anymore so I cannot say where exactly. Is it a bug? Lines all around the edges of some channels could also be a Photoshop bug*. This was a regular occurring bug in older versions (before CC 2020 or so.) The issue was that when you scaled down or sometimes even just saved an image that was not just the background layer but had stuff on other layers, there would be a faint line around the whole image. Suuuper annoying! *clarification: It's not an official bug, but a lot of people get annoyed by it. I still had this happen to me with the current 2023 Photoshop version when using bicubic (sharper) on an image with layers, but I do feel there are less problems with saving layered images now. Idk, this might be "feature quirk" after all... Anyway, to avoid the faint lines around your image, follow these tips: Using the bilinear mode when reducing an image's size helps, as does flattening the image before image reduction or file export. I like to create a copy of the entire document using the shortcuts ctrl+shift+alt+e to make sure it appears flattened without actually flattening everything. You could also paste the flattened copy into a new document, merge it down and export the dds file from there. Just try what works best for you. Retaining maximum quality on resizing Most images need to be resized to the pattern size, or you might have made a larger pattern and want that in smaller sizes. You may never have paid much attention to the settings in that image size dialogue, but it holds some key elements to make sure your pattern comes out in the best way possible! Per default, the resizing mode that is used by Photoshop to make an image smaller is "bicubic (sharper)". This mode has a sharpening algorithm that causes halos if the pixels are not white or black, which can create unwanted effects such as white outlines around grey pixels, or grey ones around black areas. Note: even if you have the "bicubic (automatic)" setting, it will still use the "bicubic (sharper)" if you reduce the image size! Let me show you an example: Below, you can see a comparison of bicubic (sharper) reduction vs bilinear reduction. The channel with the black and white checkers has some greyish edges after using bicubic (sharper), which can cause the texture to become unwantedly transparent in these areas, making the colors become muddled in these areas. Using bilinear or nearest neighbor modes (the latter is great for very geometric, crisp shapes), the result is very clean.

This is why do not recommend to use the bicubic algorithm on your textures. Go for bilinear and nearest neighbor modes, these are perfect for patterns. I do any sharpening of the channels in a more controlled way later.

The best way to sharpen your texture To make the textures look as crisp as possible, you immediately think about the "unsharp mask" feature, right? This might not be your best option though!

If you have a white shape on a black background with a rim of dark grey pixels around it and you want to make it crisp and want that dark grey outline to disappear, unsharp mask will actually do a pretty good job, because it mainly targets those grey pixels and there is nothing to lighten or darken on pure white or pure black. But if you have a lot of grey tones, the algorithm "attacks" a lot in your image, depending on how you set your radius in the options dialogue. Most of the time, the radius is set to a small number, for sharpening details, but it creates a problem for us in the form of halos/bright or dark rims around shapes.

I like to increase the contrast of the individual channels to make the image appear sharper without those halo effects that the "unsharp mask " feature often creates. I love to use the "levels" tool for adjusting the contrast, I use it all the time! I have grey pixels as a starting point and then applied an aggressive "unsharp mask" (strength 100, radius: 1px) to it so you can see the effect. The results are bright halos around the shapes. This will make the edges of the shapes more opaque on the final pattern and can look strange! On very delicate lines, this might be what you want, but for larger areas, this is less desirable.

Sharpening without actually sharpening

Instead of using "unsharp mask", I like to increase the contrast of the individual channels to make the image appear sharper entirely without those halo effects that the "unsharp mask " feature often creates. I love to use the "levels" tool for adjusting the contrast, I use it all the time!

On this layer, I have some intricate shapes, which should appear fully opaque. The are already bright white, but the edges are a bit too soft right now to get a truly crisp result, so I use the "levels" tool to increase the contrast and make the edges crisper. You can also use the curves tool for this, but I find the levels tool a bit more intuitive for this process! The curves tool gives you even more control over pixel values and lets you adjust them individually, which can be great, but for the purpose of creating controlled contrast, the levels tool will suffice.

By moving the marked sliders towards the middle, the contrast is increased. This also works nicely on grey pixels without creating the halo problem.

Another use for the levels tool in this context is to control the thickness of your shapes by moving the middle slider too, like this:

Final words "Levels" is your friend when adjusting contrast and making things sharper. In some cases, "unsharp mask" or other sharpened options can create a desired effect, such as on more realistic textures such as carpet/fabric textures, wood and stone, where you might want these halos to increase the depth of details. There is always a right time to use any tool, so if levels alone do not give the effect you desire, by all means, give "unsharp mask" a go! Experiment, and find the best way for you. The biggest gain in quality will come from saving in an uncompressed format though. Thanks for reading through the tutorial, I hope it was helpful!

The new ground-up design is based around a new platform, with a new chassis and casework, plus new power supplies. It offers a previously unreached performance level.

The N1-S38 benefits from a totally new set of system electronics, a new mainboard, plus a new mains transformer, supply and local regulators.

All-new chassis and casework

Key to the N1-S38’s sophisticated new look is Melco’s all-new casework which benefits from highly stable chassis construction centred around a robust 3 mm stainless steel base plate to minimise unwanted vibration.

Externally, the N1-S38 is complemented by precision-machined two-tone aluminium casework on the remaining five faces, ranging in thickness from 2 mm up to a generous 5 mm, representing a significant upgrade over the half-width N10/2 and N100 models.

The new fascia design features a unique engraved Melco logo using a special technique, with the bold new aesthetics continuing with the substantial contrasting casework corners which are also machined from solid aluminium billet.

CDAP Vidie/Banner — 17, 19, 28?? They’re such an interesting duo to me

17. What does a relaxing night in look like for them?

For them it's a lot of banter and gossip, one always doing something while the other idly helps. Maybe Vidie is making a new blend of tea and Banner chides her on how she's grinding the leaves, only for Vidie to tell them to do better, only for them to make a fool of themselves as they grind the coarsest tea known to man. Maybe Banner is reviewing a product and Vidie says he's being too harsh, only for Banner to let them try it and be disgusted by its poor quality. Maybe it's the joy that they can be wrong to each other in private as they can be the most pretentious and obnoxious versions of themselves imaginable, complaining about the pacing, casting, and themes of a movie without being told to not be a sourpuss about it.

A lot of the time it's them and some shitty takeout and single armrest chair they like to share while they act like they are the best things in the world to each other. They know they aren't but it's nice to share ego with someone, air out grievances you know will be taken as nitpicks to someone else, and share a closeness without having to be vulnerable.

19. How do they silently/subtly express their love for each other?

This was actually hard because I feel like these two are too direct to be subtle about anything when it comes to expression. Vidie likes flamboyance and tact while Banner treats a lot of interactions like goals to get done with the best performance. I feel like the subtle things are Vidie helping with Banner's work, not reviewing herself but organizing files, bringing her tea, making and just gentle reminders not to over do something. So for Vidie it’s act sof service, warnings and possible just leading Banner away from work to rest. Banner experiences burnout but refuses to do much about it but push through until it’s too much, Vidie is aware enough of this to actually try and wrangle him away.

Banner dotes, it’s just what Banner does. But to be more intimate I feel likes it’s seeking out Vidie to be around, following her and just sharing a general space. Banner won’t be around a person if there’s no need, so just hanging around, wanting to be physically closer, kinda is a big thing. It’s like a cat choosing you to lay on. Vidie accommodates by letting Banner in, scooting over to make room or shifting so they can lean on her. It’s a quiet and intimate moment, no teasing as it kinda takes a lot for Banner to show traditional forms of affection, I feel like they are embarrassed. The others react to these moments like they are special and sometimes Banner feels bad that their affections are treated like a prize even if they understand it. Vidie doesn’t do that and it’s appreciated.

28. What’s something that reminds them of their partner(s)? Do they have anything on them daily as a reminder (a photo, phone background, tattoo, clothing/accessory, etc)?

Before the fall out I like to think Vidie kept a lot of Banner's tea in her home, a lot of everyone's tea actually. When in the mood to think about someone she brewed a cup and basked in them. On a more personal note, it would be one of their samples, it's odd but Banner gives out a lot to the ads. It's unusual for ads to be so loose with their wares to non-lighteners and it's a weird special privilege to get that many. They don't expire so Vidie keeps them like collectors' items. Again it's odd but I feel like addison can be a bit funky. After I feel like it's magazines, Vidie only gets the ones that carry Banner's reviews and columns in them, specifically ripping them and cutting them out and saving them. He would defend this by saying he just wants to track how downhill the quality of the reviews are going but it really is admiration and desire to hear Banner's critiques in person again, to laugh and play devil's advocate for whatever poor thing is under the scrutiny of Banner's eye. To congratulate them on a job well done while offering feedback. It's just the level of impersonal to not have to dwell on it.

Before the fall out Banner didn't really keep anything from Vidie more so collected a bunch of items that they believed they would like. Banner is a reviewer and has an innate desire to cast judgment and be praised for her insights. The idea she knew exactly what Vidie liked and got the correct thing means a lot. Especially when they go out and they can't help but notice the exact things that would make it something Vidie liked, loved or adored. This of course meant that after the break up it was very difficult for Banner to want to go anywhere as everything was seen through the lens of what people she was no longer on good terms with would like. Thinking how he can't get it for them anymore and ultimately doing away with what they think they would like in their own home just to not think about it. If Banner kept anything I believe it would've been the rings Vidie sold. Vidie had excess, not every ring sold and just like Banner with the samples, he'd give them to the ads based on what he thought they would like. Obviously getting your partner a ring can carry a lot of meaning to us but they are darkeners, courting is always so direct, especially for ads. Though I like to believe Banner overthinks it, how addisons are meant to mimic lighteners and what that could mean for the plethora of bands and rings, they were given, that they continue to keep. Maybe they hope they were reading into it the right way.

These two love based on the worst parts of each other.

You can pick what you want retextured, whether it's just the roads, only mountains or all of Riften. Download Skyrim Textures. More than most other mods, the lighting, post-processing and colour tweaks made by ENBs and Reshade mods are down to personal preference. In OG Skyrim, I was rather partial to RealVision ENB, and it still makes the seven-year-old game look absolutely gorgeous, though it does come at the cost of performance. When the Special Edition first launched, flashy post-processing options were limited while we waited for ENB to be updated. ELFX wants to make Skyrim pretty, not just realistically lit. Both mods are great, so it really depends on what kind of atmosphere you want to generate. You could always mix and match, and even throw in an ENB for good measure. Since Skyrim is full of forests, Skyrim Flora Overhaul has a pretty dramatic effect. It includes lots of new, high-quality tree models, even more grasses and plants, and loads of visual tweaks that generally make forests look deeper and more imposing. There are so many tiny touches that make this mod brilliant, like curated sound effects and animated icebergs. The Special Edition introduced a new water flow system, which is nice and all, but it was applied to all bodies of water indiscriminately, which made less sense. Realistic Water also fixes that. Download Better Roads or the Special Edition version. Download Climates of Tamriel or the Special Edition version. Interesting NPCs is packed with new characters scattered all over Skyrim, each with their own background, schedule and branching dialogue. With these tweaks, NPCs respond in more realistic and diverse ways to things like weather, attacks and their day-to-day schedules, depending on who they are. Most important is the survival instinct feature, letting NPCs evaluate threats and act accordingly. Download Immersive Citizens or the Special Edition version. This throws in everything from warring goblin tribes to considerably more exotic and indescribable nightmares. The world a bit more deadly. Download Immersive Creatures or the Special Edition version. It creates patrols for not just the factions of the civil war, the Stormcloaks and Imperials, but also the Dawnguard and Thalmor. There are even some raider patrols, too. These warbands clash in specific areas, with forts and territory changing hands depending on the outcome of the battle. Download Immersive Patrols or the Special Edition version. Ever wanted to traipse around Skyrim with your very own supernatural band? Amazing Follower Tweaks is an extremely helpful follower management tool that lets you have multiple followers, organise their equipment and give them orders, but the best bit is being able to turn them into vampires and werewolves. Speaking of deadly, magical monsters with a thirst for blood and flesh, this mod makes NPCs run away when one of them attacks. Dragons and vampires will scare off NPCs, making them run to their home or the nearest inn until the area is safe again. Not with Convenient Horses, however. Download Convenient Horses or the Special Edition version. Relationship Dialogue Overhaul makes Skyrim a chattier place. NPCs get a whopping 5, lines of new, reactive dialogue, all voiced. NPCs react more realistically, letting you know what they think of you, while followers will take into account their relationship with you. Simply Better Movement Speed tweaks how fast you move while walking, running and sneaking. Walking speed has been significantly boosted, while running is slower. The pace feels more natural, making it necessary to get a horse for long journeys, but making wandering around towns and villages much quicker. It also makes players the same speed as NPCs, so following people around is no longer a chore where you have to make constant adjustments. Getting lycanthropy is a great way to shake things up, but as much fun as it is to stomp around Skyrim as a massive wolf, the system is pretty underdeveloped. Moonlight Tales, then, is essential if you plan on tearing people apart during a full moon. It completely overhauls werewolves, replacing the perk tree, introducing new abilities, forcing lunar transformations and, best of all, letting you become a werebear. Download Moonlight Tales or the Special Edition version. There is a seemingly endless supply of user-created weapons on the Skyrim Nexus, but Immersive Weapons should always be at the top of your list. The benefit of using this instead of adding all your weapons piecemeal is that these weapons have been designed to co-exist, keeping balance and lore in mind. Unlike lightsabers. Download Immersive Weapons or the Special Edition version. Like the weapon mod, it introduces hundreds of new pieces of lore-appropriate armour and shields, allowing you to finally live out your dream of wearing a saber-toothed cat on your head. There are some nifty accessories, too, including eye patches and scarves. Download Immersive Armors or the Special Edition version. It adds new item slots to your body and then provides a vast number of pouches, bags and bandoliers that you can strap onto yourself. Download Bandoliers or the Special Edition version. It summons a bounty of cloaks into the world, nearly styles in all, ranging from faction-specific clobber to tattered, monstrous garments that only a Daedra would wear. NPCs will wear them, too, and they actually make guards look more authoritative. A nice cloak commands respect. Download Cloaks of Skyrim or the Special Edition version. Only mugs hold their own lanterns. You can attach the lantern to your belt, or you can just give it to one of your followers; they can hold or wear it for you. Even handier! Honestly, is there any need for the sun now that we've got this sorted? Download Wearable Lanterns or the Special Edition version. Download Deadly Cabbages or the Special Edition version. You can expand your arcane arsenal with blood magic, druidic spells and all sorts of new stuff that can then be combined to create even more powerful results. Cast some lightning magic on someone you just soaked with water magic, for instance, and you're going to do a bit more harm. You can even clone enemies, turn them into chickens or break the laws of time and space. Apocalypse has fewer spells, but boy are they fun. And flashy! You can summon tornadoes and volcanoes, rip ghosts out of corpses and send them towards enemies or trap people in mystical prisons. The handiest, however, are often the more mundane spells, like being able to find gold veins or conjuring up spectral bridges that transport you across large gaps. OK, that's not mundane at all. The mod neatly slots into the game and feels like a natural extension of the existing magic system, but a lot more creative. There are some differences between the versions, but both improve combat AI and introduce attacks of opportunity and timed blocking. Generally, combat is faster and more deadly, with weapons dealing more damage. VioLens lets you customise your killmoves, both melee and ranged, letting you decide how often they appear and what move each weapon triggers. If you want to give your fights some extra cinematic flair, this is a good way to go about it. Swap out the boring vanilla idle weapon animations for something a bit fancier. Pretty Combat Animations lets you pick from full animation sets that change what your character looks like when they run, walk and sneak while armed or unarmed, if you're just using your fists. You'll look dangerous even when you're just standing around. There are maybe a few too many trees, though I am a fan of the overgrown look. The should still work with Special Edition anyway, but there might be some unforeseen issues. Download Towns and Villages Enhanced. They're not quite the dramatic visual overhaul that Towns and Villages Enhanced is, but together these two mods replace the vanilla textures with high-quality versions and add new bits and pieces. The textures are much improved, but they otherwise maintain the original aesthetic, while the towns that have been expanded so far Darkwater Crossing, Dawnstar and Riverwood are familiar but busier. Skyrim hides all of its cities behind gates and loading screens; Open Cities Skyrim smashes them down. This beefy mod moves the cities into the main Skyrim map, rather than the pocket dimension in which they existed, so you can seamlessly move between city and wilderness. Poor Helgen. It only got a few minutes of screentime before it got roasted, along with most of its inhabitants. Helgen Reborn, then, is a lovely mod that gives the town a second life. Download Helgen Reborn or the Special Edition version. Similar to Helgen Reborn, this mod revitalises the gloomy town of Winterhold as you work through a quest. Those merchants, I should add, are very wealthy, so it's a great place to offload your inventory. Everyone wins! Download Winterhold Rebuilt or the Special Edition version. Alternate Start is the best way to start a new game of Skyrim. Falskaar is a total conversion mod created by Alexander Velicky to prove to Bethesda he could make something that rivalled their DLC, but with a fraction of their resources. Adding approximately 20 hours to the base game, Falskaar is an impressive mod that adds a whole new land independent of Tamriel, accessible by portal and later by boat. Mondo Purchased From Alamo Drafthouse by Funko

Now, with the dark days behind us and each weekend bringing box office successes, Alamo is seizing opportunities to grow our cinema footprint with seven new locations across the country that have been announced recently and more to come. As the company resources are focused on this growth, we realized that perhaps a bold and exciting new chapter is about to begin for Mondo.

Over the past few months, we searched exhaustively to find a perfect partner who saw what was unique and special about Mondo and was in a position to meaningfully invest in Mondo, nurture the team, and further its reach and vision. Funko is exactly that unicorn.

The team that made Mondo amazing is staying together, making the transition to Funko, and will continue their same work with the same creative vision. I am super excited about the future plans I know about, and I’m sure I will soon marvel at the work that is not yet even a lightbulb spark.

Mondo:

For 20 years, we have poured our heart and souls into this weird little thing that Rob Jones and Tim League started in a closet in the corner of an Alamo Drafthouse lobby… then out of a closet underneath the seats of a Drafthouse auditorium (seriously). Eventually, we opened our own gallery space, and even started our own convention.

We have always loved following our passions and doing things our own way, and we’ll be forever thankful to the Alamo Drafthouse for supporting those passions and helping us grow into what we are today. But we needed a bigger boat… and that’s where Funko comes in. They understand what Mondo is today and are eager to help us become the company we want to be.

From the outside, Mondo might seem like it is changing… but on the inside much is staying the same. We remain the same team, and our goals remain unchanged. We are still the same bunch of weirdos who share an undying obsession with popular (and maybe less popular) culture, and a craving to make cool stuff with the best artists in the world.

Lord knows I’ve spent enough of the past 14 years on this site worshiping the creations of the team at Mondo, so I had to dig in.

At its core, this isn’t a horrible pairing. Mondo lives and dies by their ability to get licenses, Funko has all the licenses.

The bigger concern is one of quality control. Funko is a very mass produced product. Mondo is not. Mondo is an artisan celebration of pop culture, with each artist selected and chosen specifically as a pairing.

Will this be able to remain the status quo with this purchase? My cynical side says no, but I’m very willing (if not wanting) to be wrong.

Let’s see how this plays out.

I love TV shows with a great sound track selection.

My latest fascination and obsession stems from and is totally focused on Dark TV Series, I have finished the third season and I can't stop watching it. Although it's not exactly the greatest show on the planet but there are two things I love about the show. The precise casting work of the agent is the first. Music is the 2nd thing that I was most impressed with about this show. Yes, of course, the story must be mentioned, and obviously it is at the top of this list of incredible aspects of Dark. The team that is responsible for the music selection has performed a a fantastic job. They can find the appropriate songs that create or break the mood in key moments of their show, and they are able to do this. It is impossible to imagine how the show could exist without the music. This lullaby that isn't familiar may be the strangest or most remembered song I'm hearing at the moment. I don't know if TV shows hace to cite the music in the final section, or maybe they specifically find songs in the public domain that don't need to be acknowledged I don't know. But I do remember that I needed to look up the song by its lyrics and not the title since the title wasn't there. I stumbled upon this YouTube page to listen to the song of Bonaparte. Normally, I would just download video clips from Youtube. However this time I realized that the music I was searching for was on CDs. Are you an old-fashioned person? Perhaps I'm an old man. Don't think that I am a jerk my car is equipped with an excellent sound system. Audio on Youtube isn't great quality and has very poor bass. It's all encoded in the mp3 encoder. It reduces frequencies barely audible for humans, and also removes lots if almost useless audio. It makes mp3 files smaller and easier to handle. These days before going to bed I still check out the videos I've saved to my tablet.. Blue tooth is used to transmit music straight onto the boombox. It provides an extremely enjoyable sound spectrum. At home, I don't have MP3, which is why I also listen to music as well as watch videos, since MP4 format is the one I pick for the tablet. Ahhhh thank you so much! 

The two apps I use are vapoursynth to cut and resize and photoshop cc 2017! So I am going to break down some of my tips and where you can learn more. There are many ways to make your gifs hd, this is just one of many and how I like to do it. 

Sourcing Videos

So finding a high quality video for your gif is half the work. In terms of live performance gifs like my Megan thee Stallion set or a Kpop live set, I will go for a .ts file which pulls directly from the broadcast. Usually if I am making a larger gif that;s 540px, I try to stick with 1080 and above. If I am making 268px gifs I can do 720, maybe a 480. 

For western media, particularly performances and stuff, I go use ncurban or sharemania (you can create a free account i use a burner email). For korean media, reference this masterlist resource, its a fantastic overview even if you aren’t a kpop fan that goes into other videosourcing tips. and I use dramaday to download my kdramas and youtube for cdramas. 

VapourSynth

I use Vapoursynth, which helps clip and resize my clips without losing a lot of quality. If you have an older laptop without much ram, it can take a long time.

Tutorial on How to use Vapoursynth to Make Gifs 

Tips: I just use the KNMCL and Finesharp functions to sharpen and denoise, and the trick is to adjust based on the file you have. I usually preview and mess with the setting until I get it to where I like it. 

Also don’t use vapoursynth with large .mkv files, you can convert it to .mp4 which is friendlier with VS using Avidemux and the tutorial for that is here. It’s simple and doesn’t take too long.

Really here, there isn’t much I do outside of coloring and editing if I’m making more of a gfx. 

Other Resources/Tips

There was a challenge some other friends and I participated in around showing our gifmaking process and there are some videos of our processes you can find and learn from here(dingyuxi), here(seongwu), here(joonie) here(gimme-a-chocolate),  and here(mine). You can slow them down since they’re sped up versions. 

My tag content creation will have basically resources, templates, and tutorials.  Resources like @itsphotoshop​ or @completeresources​ all have some great tutorials that I use all the time, not just for gifmaking but other things too. 

This is all just technical info but really, like any other discipline or practice or skill, practice at it and dont expect your first time to be the best because you’re always going to improve and learn. I’m always open as a resource and there are some great content creators on here who share their knowledge as well.
