Dating The BB League Elite Four + Kieran 💕
Tumblr media
Tags: GN! Reader, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Teal Mask & Indigo Disk Spoilers!
A/N: After finally getting dragged into the Pokémon rabbit hole, I honestly couldn't resist in doing one of these for my babies! Scarlet/Violet is my very first Pokémon experience, so hopefully I did these characters justice ^^
Feel free to follow my main @taruchinator & leave a request for future HCs!
Tumblr media
Crispin 🔥
He's such a dork and incredibly quirky but don't you worry, he'll definitely be the one to ask you out first, no matter how many attempts it takes. Not like you'd say no to begin with.
As a partner, he's the kind of guy who would always try to cheer you up and have you in a happy mood, because when you're happy, he's happy! Anything from compliments, to jokes, to just giving you lots of affection.
Which brings us to the fact that he's huge on PDA. And the funny thing is he doesn't even realize he's doing it—he'll lean on you when you're showing him something in your Rotom Phone, rubbing circles on your palm when you're talking about your day, placing his chin on your shoulder while talking to the other club members—this man is all over you.
During your stay at Blueberry Academy, don't you dare spend your precious money on the cafeteria, he's got you covered. He'll ask you and learn about your tastes, creating new recipes and concoctions just for you, hoping to surprise you with something better and nutritious every day!
If you had a long day of training and doing BBQs, Crispin always comes by and makes sure you had a meal. And you better not be lying to him.
“Man, you've been out all day! Did you even have lunch?”
“.... I had a granola bar.”
“HOW ARE YOU STILL STANDING?”
It's safe to say that Koraidon/Miraidon adores him, and even makes you question whether it's you or your Pokémon who's dating him.
After you started going out, Crispin now makes sure to carry sandwiches with him at all times. Mostly for your oversized lizard boy, but also for you in case you need a quick snack to recharge. The legendary Pokémon is quick to thank him with licks and constant slobbering which always leaves the red-head a mess, but he tries to not let it bother him for your sake.
Whenever you guys aren't training, you'll be in your dorm rooms cooking and having laughs with your Pokémon over how clumsy they can be in the kitchen.
Overall, a sweet and supportive goofball who'll make sure you're always smiling and never have an empty stomach!
Amarys 👓
Obviously Amarys isn't the best at conveying her emotions. It doesn't mean she doesn't care, she just has a hard time figuring them out sometimes! Which is why it's incredibly strange to her when she starts having these weird sensations whenever she's around you.
She feels happier, her stomach gets all jumbled when you compliment her, and her minds always finds a way to drift back to you no matter what she's doing.
She ends up asking Carmine about it, who immediately gets all giddy and explains to her that she might have a crush. Amarys is surprised, but not against the idea. It makes sense in retrospect—cue bestie Carmine giving her pointers and ideas to try and confess to you.
Unfortunately it's all a bit too convoluted or cheesy for the Steel-Type user's liking, so she ends up doing it her own way.
One day after club activities are over, she asks if you can stay a bit longer to talk. “After much deliberation, it would seem that I have caught romantic feelings for you. I propose a casual outing so we can discuss these in further detail. Do you agree?”
It doesn't take long for you two to start going out.
Amarys shows affection through small gestures that may not seem like a lot to others, but you know they're huge steps for her. Sharing her food when you're hungry, giving you advice on how to raise your Pokémon properly, helping you study subjects you aren't that good at—the list goes on.
PDA isn't her strong suit at all. Physical affection in general isn't something she's used to, and she's forever grateful that you don't push her to do things out of her comfort zone. She tries though, and will do things like brush her hand against yours or even give you a hug whenever she's feeling bold.
To an outsider you're both an unconventional couple, but manage to make it work with trust and constant communication. Give her some time and she'll warm up to you.
Lacey 🧚‍♀️
A sweet cutie who doesn't really change her attitude towards you even after you start dating, since she's always loved having you around. The two of you also confess at the same time, which leaves you as a pair of giggling messes at the irony of it.
Is your number one cheerleader when it comes to school academics. You may not be an official Blueberry student, but that doesn't mean you should be slacking in your classes! If you don't understand the material, don't you worry, she's already prepared a slideshow presentation going over it point by point. Will also reward you with kisses if you pay attention!
Lacey isn't huge on PDA either since she thinks it's unnecessary, but when it's just the two of you, she will never let go. You have successfully replaced Granbull as her favorite pillow of choice, since whenever you two have time off and she's tired, you'll probably take a snooze under a tree in the Coastal Biome.
When you get to meet her father, she's actually a bit nervous since she's never thought of dating before finishing school, but you try and be brave and reassure her that you'll try your best to give a good impression. He thinks you're alright, but gives you the good old father talk to make sure you won't hurt his little girl.
Will find ways to dot your Legendary lizard ride with gifts and affection since she thinks he's just too darn stinking cute, but don't worry, she still thinks you're the cutest!
Since Lacey's constantly worrying about things getting done around the League Club, it's your duty as her partner to get her to relax from time to time. You'll do your best by offering to share responsibilities and reminding her that breaks are very much needed.
“Sweetie it's nighttime, you can finish in the morning. I'm tired and need cuddleeeess.”
“Just one more page and I'll be done—”
“Please Ms. Lacey! I need your cuteness to have a good night's sleep!”
“F-Fine, I'm coming! Flattering me to get what you want is just not right, ya know?”
Truly an iconic duo.
Drayton 🐉
Let's get one thing straight: this man doesn't confess—heck, he doesn't even ask you out! One day he just has his arms around you and plants a kiss on your cheek claiming that he'll follow your every command, all with a cheeky grin on his face. You're more than welcome to punch him for it and he'll still come crawling back.
Like most things in his life, Drayton takes your relationship slow and steady, not really wanting to push your boundaries (unless he wants to tease you) and having no rush to progress things. He's just a chill guy who wants to claim you before anyone else does.
Don't be mistaken though, this doesn't mean he doesn't care. You'd be surprised how much he looks out for you, almost borderline overprotective in some cases. After everything that happened with Terapagos in Area Zero, he's constantly making sure you have strong Pokémon, supplies, and good company to survive the crazy adventures you get mixed up in.
You guys' ideal date is spending time together in the dorms after school hours, kicking back and relaxing with a movie or just talking about stuff that happened during the day. He's surprisingly a very good listener.
It's from these laid back conversations that he gets ideas for random gifts to get you. Did you need a new pair of gloves cause the old ones ripped? Some are waiting in the club room. You're running low on potions? A box full of them appears on your doorstep. Want to visit your friends in Paldea but can't find the time? Turns out Drayton took over your assignments for the day so you're free to go!
You're also the only person he'll allow himself to be tutored by. Will literally not listen to anyone unless it's you. Which is why you try to make sure the material is easy for him to digest + it's not boring typical schoolwork, but something he'll actually enjoy.
“Okay! Today we're going over math! Let's have a battle in the Polar Biome so you can see how probability applies in critical hits and such.”
“Aww, my honey is catering to my needs? Aren't you the sweetest thing?”
“No kisses until we're done, Drayton.”
“Alright, aye aye boss!”
He's an idiot, but he's your idiot.
Kieran 🍎
This boy has had a crush on you ever since you first met in Kitakami, but never had the courage to say anything since he was so shy. Now however, he doesn't say anything because he feels like he doesn't have the right to.
After everything he's put you through—from accusing you of stealing Ogerpon, to fighting you in an all out battle, to straight up putting you and everyone else in danger just because he wanted a chance at getting a Legendary Pokémon—Kieran doesn't think he deserves to be your friend, let alone your partner.
Carmine is there as his wingwoman though, cheering him on and telling him how much you appreciate him and clearly return his feelings.
And so, mustering as much courage as he can, he asks if you'll trade Pokémon with him. When you agree, he brings out an Applin, which immediately leaves you blushing but also spreads a huge smile on your face. The two of you officially start dating.
Kieran does is absolute best to try and be the boyfriend you deserve, even though it's his first relationship and he has no idea what he's doing half the time. The members of the League Club are surprised at first, but ultimately support you guys all the way!
You spend time together sharing battle strategies and having your Pokémon playing to try and get along. Turns out Ogerpon and Hydrapple become fast friends by the end of a particular play date, much to your delight.
He's not good at PDA, like, at all. He's still that shy and timid kid from Kitakami underneath it all, so he struggles with initiating affection even when it's just the two of you. You're the one who has to start the hugs and kisses, leaving him like a puddle of goo under your grasp.
Nightmares still plague him occasionally, mostly revolving the journey to Area Zero and how it all could've turned out for the worst if by some chance Terapagos decided to attack someone else. Maybe even you. If you're with him when they happen, you'll hold him tight and whisper sweet nothings into his ear until he calms down, or if he calls you to make sure you're okay, you'll stay on the phone with him until he falls asleep again.
“I'm sorry... I'm so sorry...”
“It's okay Kieran. We're both okay, and that's all that matters.”
You two are the power couple that Blueberry Academy never expected, but deep down, you're just a pair of dorks who fawn over each other on a daily basis.

Warden Ingo finds himself in your home in Hisui just staring at the strange items there. The odd freezing cupboard you have sitting in the front room makes him feel oddly nostalgic. It is hard to resist the temptation to open its doors and just stare in it, expecting some odd shaped food item to be there waiting for him.
The odd bureau you have makes him wish to put his clothing in it for some reason. Whenever the Rotom inside it activates its mechanisms, he feels himself staring at the spinning insides in a strange trance.
The odd heat box intrigues him most. It makes him nearly recall a presence at his side with a bright grin on their lips. They stare eagerly into something just like the box before saying something unintelligible to his mind. Inside the box is a metallic tray with something rising inside it.
He can only what these memories and feelings mean.

cant sleep so my husband's ninetails is hypnosising me so im falling alseep as i type but anyway like poison types poison types are so important to me i love them and they get too much hate. i don't think enough people realize that a LOT of modern medicine can be attributed to poison types. the sheer amount of antibiotics, antiviral, antifungal, etc. medications that are derived from poison types is incredible PLUS many poison types have an innate sense for knowing what's wrong with somebody if they're being poisoned in some way. there have been so many times where a poison type pokemon was able to cut an outbreak off at like patient 0 because it could literally just tell what was going on is incredible. there are literally toxel bred for no reason other than being hospital pokemon when they evolve. yall are so fuckin mean to poison types for no reason just cause like theyre scary or whatever the fuck. most poison types will not fucking poison you on purpose unless you're being a fucking ass and refusing to back off after being warned and like i jushy thinl its not fair that ywe give poison types so much shit but then just let fairy tpes walk around as if they can do no harms are hw just going to ingmore how sylveon is a fucking apex predator???? i dont think thats rfair at all ivr heard of more inceifents where a sylveon nearly killed a little kid than like a fucking garbordor or some thing also like poidon ytpe s being naturally resistant to pousons and being unable to be popusoned can be really gooiid for ecosystems because vertain pokemon are able to take toins in from their surrounding ebritonment and it oesnt hurt them if anything it helps them like in the case of irl spills yk who cleans that up???? usually fishmerman BUT POISON TYPE POKEMMON AIOFTEN HELP skslxxxxxzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Bzzt! This is JavaScript the Rotom speaking. Aspen is fine. He is just sleeping.

Hello, I was wondering if you have any tips for caring for a mildly feral Pidgeot, when I got my lab I "inherited" the previous Professor's team, which included a 5 foot tall angry and confused Pidgeot named Nut, luckily it recognized the Rotom that's been helping me adjust so it hasn't attacked but outside of giving it free range of the overgrown fields near the Lab and a steady supply of Feeder Ratata I don't know what else to do, I'm a grass type specialist I don't mess with flying types but I can't have it hunting around outside forever, it keeps attacking the mail carrier, and I don't want to just lock it in it's ball again it was already stuck there for years. I just want it to calm down so I can try to comfort it, the poor thing must be hurting, sorry this got so long, but I appreciate the help in advance.- @ask-professor-rose
Whoever was responsible for this situation should be arrested.
From your words, it seems as though you are rather agitated by this situation, and for good reason. But you need to be calm about this. Your anxiety will only cause Nut to become more agitated itself.
You are not going to like what you hear, but Nut is attacking humans, it may need to be put down for everyone's safety. As it is, this is a feral Pokemon who is resisting being rehomed- Call your local Rangers. They will be able to better advise you on if Nut can be rehomed or not, and they will be able to better work with you on the subject.

is there any way you can touch certain pokemon without being affected by their poison? my toxel is really clingy and he gets sad if i don't snuggle him but the toxic skin... my hands are tingling so much i can barely feel my rotom phone as i'm typing this
If you have the money, you can slowly build resistance with the help of a lot of antidotes. If you do not... gloves.
I prefer the glove route.

Here is part 2 to my silly thing with Jacq, featuring Lycanmom and Librarian reader
Tumblr media
Jacq X Male Reader - Part 2
Jacq has a massive crush on him. He's pretty sure he's being subtle and cool about it, but he definitely isn't. Gay chaos ensues.
Reader is not the SV protagonist. He's a pretty normal dude all things considered - his only explicitly mentioned Pokemon is a dusk form Lycanroc.
Author's note: Clusterfuck of gay chaos
Tumblr media
There was nothing Jacq disliked more than phone calls.
Then again, nobody really liked making phone calls. You only ever called when it was something really important, or something you needed to be professional with.
He couldn't decide if this was a matter that he needed to be super professional with.
Jacq had saved ____'s number to his phone, and was currently blankly staring at the contact. He was weighing the potential outcomes in his head - he could call right now to tell ____ when his classes were, but if he called at an awkward moment then ____ would get upset with him.
He could send a text, which was generally his more preferred method of communication.... But he had no idea if ____ had given him his mobile number, or the number to the bookshop. A text might not go through at all, which would end up being a hassle.
Jacq dropped his rotom phone on his desk, sinking his head into his hands. He hated overthinking. He should just trust his gut, go with the flow! Prendre les choses comme elles viennent, as Salvatore would surely tell him.
After a few moments of silent pondering, Jacq finally decided on sending a text. He scooped his phone back up, opening up a chat with ____ and... Once again, sitting there and staring.
He spent a few more minutes trying to figure out what exactly to say. It was too late for a good morning, but too early for a good evening! Good afternoon would work, but would that be too formal? Maybe just a hello.... Yes, that would work fine. He had his schedule typed out in mere moments, just because that was the easy part. But how should he finish it?
"Can't wait to see you!" Was way too forward. Maybe "Let me know whenever's most convenient for you"? Or a "Looking forward to hearing back from you," but that sounded too pushy. Oh, just asking for the most convenient time was fine! He couldn't overthink this! It was just a text!
A text to ____. ____, the cute librarian with a nice smile and a nicer laugh... Jacq vigorously shook his head. Not now, he scolded himself internally, fixing his glasses. Just get this done and then you can go daydream, if you want to get in trouble with Clavell again. You might be better off grading homework.
He set his phone down again, resisting the urge to check it every few seconds as though it wouldn't let him know he had a message the moment ____ responded. As much as he wanted to get things done, his mind ran amok with anxiety-filled rambling. What if ____ never saw it? What if he thought it was weird? What if he just gave up on the idea of coming to talk, so it would be awkward to try and talk to him any further? What if he-
Ro-to-to.
Jacq nearly knocked his little cup of pencils off his desk grabbing his phone, frantically checking his notifications. ____ had responded! That was faster than he thought!
'Hey Jacq :] any day works for me haha, I don't do much!! If you're doing classes tomorrow, I can come in? Sound good to you?'
Jacq sat there staring at that little smiley face, trying to figure out how to respond. Tomorrow would be perfect, but how casual should he be? Ugh, he hated overthinking.
'Tomorrow works great! Can't wait :D'
Was that too forward? Probably. Jacq made to delete the last part, but of course hit send prematurely. He panicked, nearly dropping his phone - thank goodness Rotom caught itself with an annoyed buzz, floating in lazy circles around his head as he fumbled to catch it.
Before he could delete the message and play dumb about it, ____ had replied.
'Cool, cya then! xx'
....Huh. Maybe it wasn't too forward after all. Jacq let out a long sigh, burying his face in his hands. Oh, he was an absolute mess. He needed a coffee.
Jacq was hardly aware of how fast time went by until he was laying in bed that night, staring blankly at the ceiling. He hadn't felt this anxious about a class since his first day as a teacher, but he supposed that wasn't all too long ago...
Tomorrow would be fine.
He was early the next morning, pacing around the plaza in front of the school. ____ had already texted to say he was on his way to Mesagoza, and he had to be there to take him up to his class.
Jacq kept nervously fixing his hair, as if any attempt of tidying it would work. He was certain he looked a mess, maybe this was a bad idea-
"Jacq!" A familiar voice broke him out of his own head, and he quickly spotted the source. ____ jogged up to him, a bright smile on his face. He was dressed more casually than his usual work uniform, a small bag tucked under his arm. Lycanroc trotted along at his side, obviously enjoying the sunshine. "Sorry if I kept you waiting."
"No, not at all!" Jacq cleared his throat, already feeling his face burn. "We've still got a bit before my first class starts, why don't I show you up to the classroom first?"
"Sounds good - lead the way." ____ fetched a PokeBall out of his bag, returning Lycanroc. Jacq heard her grumble in disapproval as she disappeared.
The two walked through the front doors together, and ____ paused to look at the gigantic bookshelves.
"Wow," He breathed. "This is a lot bigger than I was expecting. I'm even more surprised you came by my shop." Jacq chuckled a bit, rubbing the back of his head. He had zero regrets going to the bookshop over hunting down reading material here.
"My class is upstairs, but it isn't too far. There's probably going to be a few students in there already, they like to hang out before classes start for the day." Jacq gestured to the large staircase in front of them.
They carried onwards in an almost awkward silence, walking rather close to eachother... Jacq was the first to speak.
"I've been curious - how did you meet Lycanroc?" He glanced over at ____.
"Haha, it's a funny story. I've known her as long as I can remember. Back when I was little, only three or four, she came right up to me when I was playing outside. According to my mom, she tried to 'bite' me, but knowing her... She was probably just checking me out." ____ reminisced fondly. "Even when my parents shooed her away or tried to catch her themselves, she always left and came back. Only when I was outside, though."
"Oh, wow, I hadn't realized you'd known her that long... I suppose I'd assumed you'd met her as a Rockruff, haha."
"Nope - I caught her when I was seven. She didn't fight, she didn't try to run from me. My guess is she wanted to protect me, even if she's not exactly a battler. She's stuck by my side ever since, always looking out for me and caring for me... I call her Lycanmom sometimes because of that." ____ laughed warmly, shoulder bumping lightly against Jacq's as they walked through the halls. He swore he felt his heart stop for a moment.
"That's, ah, very interesting!" Jacq stuttered a moment. "Almost all the research I've seen points to Dusk Lycanroc being elusive and aggressive... I wonder why she decided to approach you in particular."
"Dunno. I can ask her all I want, but she can't really tell me. I'd love to hear her full story though." ____ paused. "Oh, is this your classroom?"
Jacq hadn't even noticed he'd walked right past the door - ____ had only stopped because he saw the biology lab sign on the wall.
"Er- Y-Yes, it is, sorry, I was lost in thought." He wheeled back to open the door. "Here, let me get the door for you!"
"Oh, thanks, haha." ____ entered, pausing briefly to brush a few stray bits of fur off of himself. Jacq followed after him, making sure the door shut properly. The classroom was completely empty, save for the two of them. Jacq supposed it was a little too early for students to want to hang out in school.
"I guess I should probably get everything ready for today's lesson - oh, ah, and explain how this is going to work." Jacq rubbed the back of his neck out of habit. "So our lessons recently have, er, mostly been about- about alternate forms, I did tell you that. Today I'm mostly just going to talk about Pokemon with unique evolutions, and Lycanroc is the center of today's lecture."
"And you wanted a Dusk Lycanroc as an example?" ____ hummed thoughtfully, leaning againsd Jacq's desk.
"Exactly! All you'll need to do is, ah, tell them about what you know. And talk about Lycanroc's mannerisms and behaviors, you know?"
"Sure. I know a lot about dusks, as you're probably aware of... But I should probably make a few notes so I can be prepared. Mind if I borrow your pen?"
"Oh, not at all!" Jacq made a move to grab the pen on his desk at the same time as ____, his hand landing on top of the other's. The two stood there silently for a moment, ____'s wrist slightly pinned to the desk by Jacq's hand. They were only a few inches apart, making awkward eye contact.
"Ah... Uh, this is-" ____ stuttered, and Jacq suddenly snapped back into reality. He practically flew back, face burning, yelping as his back hit the board behind him.
"I'm so sorry! I-I, uh, I didn't think, I didn't mean to-" Jacq applogized frantically, but ____ only giggled.
"It's- D-Don't worry about it, Jacq, it's alright." He stepped forward a bit, fidgeting with the pen in his hands. "I'm not... I'm not upset."
The two were quite close again, ____ reaching forward to gently fix Jacq's labcoat. Jacq's eyes flickered across ____'s face, admiring his eyes, his lips... His lips... Jacq swallowed back the lump in his throat. Oh boy.
____ was blushing, gaze turning down as Jacq's eyes wandered. Neither of them spoke, though Jacq was faintly aware of how they drew closer and closer... His hands trembled slightly, reaching up to caress ____'s cheek. They were so close, Jacq swore he felt their noses bump together-
"Buenos dias, Mr. Jacq!" The door opened, and ____ flung himself backwards to make himself look busy. Jacq frantically turned, taking his phone out to browse through it casually.
Juliana walked in alongside Nemona, humming merrily with her notebook in her arms. The two sat down at their desks, before starting up a conversation that Jacq wasn't particularly listening to.
He pondered what had happened only a few seconds prior, felt his heart skip a beat or two. Had they really almost kissed...? Jacq shuddered without meaning to, before leaning forward and lightly whacking his forehead on the board in front of him. Oh, he was a mess.
Students filed in over time, and Jacq had finally settled his racing thoughts. He'd have time at the end of the day to think about it. The bell rang, knocking on his brain like a hammer to remind him that he still had a job to do.
"Morning, everyone!" Jacq said after clearing his throat, turning around to face the classroom. "I'm sure you all remember our lessons about alternative forms, no? Well, today I thought I'd bring in a good example! ____, if you would?"
"Of course." ____ casually plucked the PokeBall out of his bag, before sending out Lycanroc. She stood by his side peacefully, eyeing the students. A few leaned to the sides in their seats to get a better look, and Jacq swore he saw Nemona's eyes light up. "I'm sure most of you have seen - or even used - Lycanroc's other forms. They're a very interesting Pokemon, and their change in evolution is very unique. Dusk Lycanroc are remarkably rare, and have a unique temperament in comparison to their kin."
____ patted Lycanroc's head, and she began to pad around the classroom, tail wagging lazily as she strolled between the various desks. She seemed remarkably calm, even when a few of the bolder students gave her a pat or touched her.
"They're also quite powerful, and boast a ferocious fighting spirit. Most trainers who come across them are swiftly reminded of this fact. Wild Dusk Lycanroc are very solitary, and prefer to live alone rather than in packs - nobody really knows why that is, but that reclusiveness makes them even more appealing to find." ____ folded his arms. "As you can see, Lycanroc bears many similarities to both Midday and Midnight forms - if it were sunset, you'd have a hard time differentiating between her and a Midday Lycanroc! In fact, a lot of people believed Dusk Lycanroc were a myth made up by somebody who just saw a regular Lycanroc in a different lighting."
Lycanroc finally made her rounds, sitting down at the front of the classroom. She looked quite regal, holding her head up high.
"Lycanroc are a fascinating example of evolution. To undergo such significant changes in personality and appearance just because of the time of day is incredible, especially when compared to other species of pokemon with similar evolutionary changes." He summarized, walking up to Lycanroc to pet her again. "Learning about how our Pokemon adapt will only bring us closer to them, so it's important to study as much as we can."
The rest of the class went on as usual, with Lycanroc occasionally walking about to the students who seemed particularly interested in her. Jacq was fascinated - she was amazingly gentle with all of them, even his older students.
When class ended and students began to leave, Jacq and ____ stood at the front of the classroom. Tension weighed heavy in the air, thick as a wool blanket. Neither could quite make eye contact, silent until the door finally shut behind the last student.
Jacq couldn't figure out to say, and spent the rest of his day repeating the same introduction to the rest of his classes. ____ looked thrilled to take part, and Lycanroc seemed to relish in the attention. He wondered briefly if he'd been staring too much... He was just enraptured by ____'s excitement, the way he spoke with such passion and love. He could make a good researcher.
Finally, his work day was over, and Jacq felt like he could finally breathe. All of the various anxieties that stewed in his brain had built into a festering, writhing mass of of tiny little Tarountula that skittered across his nerves.
"Jacq," ____ said, tapping his shoulder gently. He snapped to attention, already aware of the fact that his heart had dropped directly into his stomach. "Ah... About earlier..."
"I'm- I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking, I just- w-well, I find you very attractive, and-" Jacq wheezed. Had he really just said that? What an opener. "I-I mean, I, ah-"
"N-No, I'm not upset! I... Find you- well, what I'm trying to say is- oh, forget it." ____ groaned, finally grabbing Jacq by the shirt and tugging him close. Their lips met, and Jacq felt fireworks go off inside his head. He didn't know what to do with his hands at first, shuddering as ____'s hand rested lightly upon the back of his neck. He finally settled for winding his arms around the other's hips, leaning into the touch he didn't realize he'd been so starved for.
His glasses fell crooked when they finally parted, both slightly out of breath and completely frazzled.
"...Do you want to go get a coffee?" ____ asked as though that hadn't just happened. Jacq's brain needed a moment to reboot before he could answer that.
"Y-Yeah, I mean- of course I do." He nodded, half aware of the fact that he still had ____ pulled flush against him.
"Then let's go." ____ smiled, affectionately fixing his glasses. Jacq finally let him go, though ____'s hand casually slipped into his even as he took a step back.
"My treat this time." He didn't pull his hand back, relishing in the point of contact.
"Alright, you win." ____ gave his hand a gentle squeeze, before suddenly tugging him along. "I know a good place here!"
Oh, Jacq was a mess. But maybe that wasn't such a bad thing.

[A video is attached.]
An empty, white void. Far from anything. A realm where the only real things are the beings now within it.
The camera pans. A golden glow masks the descending being's form, but it's unmistakable nonetheless.
Arceus.
Immediately, the battlefield is a blur. Attacks of all kinds flash every which way. Melee, ranged, physical, special, single target, multi target, pokemon moves, weapons fire, things indistinguishable in the chaos.
The video quickly becomes unfocused and blurry as the rotom phone recording it flies around frantically, both trying to get a better view of the action and attempting to avoid the rampant attacks from every direction.
It's too loud to be sure, but if you listen closely, a booming voice may be heard over the battle.
[Why have you come here?]
The answer, of course, is obvious.
A count of what seems to be 12 pokemon, 3 indistinguishable humanoids, a fairy, and what can be best described from the footage as an armored core mech all wail away, launching barrage after barrage at Arceus.
Static.
The video cut out for a few seconds. It comes back in to a blinding glow, which quickly fades.
It reveals an unknown number of Arceus forms (somewhere between 13-27) floating above the resistance group, knocked onto their backs, battered, bruised, bleeding. They haven't given up just yet.
The camera is pulled too far back to make out much detail in the group, even in this uncanny stillness.
[Why do you fight?]
One of the humanoid figures nods at the mech. This movement is barely visible from this distance, but the mech's response isn't - It launches itself into the air, barreling right through to the center of the Arceus crowd... and explodes.
They scatter.
One of the humanoids, who appears to be the field medic, is trying to tend to the wounded.
Two have wounds too severe. They're brought into their balls for a comfortable death.
Another three are patched up and will survive, but are still unable to continue the battle. They also retreat to their balls.
During this time, one of the humanoids was observing the skies.
The remaining Arceus forms regroup.
BANG!
One down.
The body flops towards the ground, but fades away before hitting it.
Weapon tossed aside in favor of one with more ammo.
SCHVINGT-!
A bright beam of green energy envelops two more Arceus forms.
Neither are visible when the beam stops firing.
Weapon tossed aside in favor of one with more ammo.
There is no more ammo.
Out of the handful of Arceus forms left, one stands out.
Gods do bleed after all.
[What is it you want? Anything-]
Hyperbeam.
The god's voice had wavered. He was afraid.
Now, he's on the ground. Bleeding out, a puddle of golden, sparkling ichor forming around him.
The camera turns to show the remaining pokemon returning to their balls, and two of the three humanoids setting up a ritual and a machine respectively. This quickly results in an open portal, presumably the way back to normal reality.
The camera pans back to Arceus, with the last humanoid in focus.
They're clad head to toe in military armor. A combat knife is in hand.
[What now, Master? You've achieved your g-]
[Go help the others, Bubsy. You've done well. Thank you.]
[Anything you want... Just spare m-]
Knife through the throat. in and out. Clean.
The wound bleeds beautifully, as all of them do.
She takes off her helmet.
Far too human.
[What I want...]
Fear is all that's visible in what remains of the life in Arceus's eyes.
[...is you.]
The last frame is the woman lunging toward Arceus, as if to rip him apart with her teeth and eat him.
There is an unnatural golden spark in her eyes.
[End video.]

being raised alongside and being able to understand pokemon changes someone's impressions on the utility use of pokemon like rotom-phones. to silva they're literally just like her, she wouldn't want to be stuck in a phone, and if she asks and there's some kind of hesitation or dislike ... yeah she doesn't like that. silva already doesn't like pokeballs given their seeming supression of mental/resistance as soon as they're in the ball.

Happy Birthday to me!
So, since today (When this goes up, I'm typing this a week in advanced so I don't forget lol) is my Birthday, I thought I outta do something a little silly!
Tumblr media
Like a trainer card for my favorite Touhou Character! I was also doing a run of pokemon BW2 with this team, but kinda gave up on that outta boredom/wanting to do other things.
Politoed is here for its hidden ability, which is drizzle. While there are three drizzle mons, no way am I giving Kogasa a fucking Kyogre, so that just left Peli and Politoed, and Politoed is my favorite outta those two, so here they are. For reference btw, I feel like an umbrella having a rain setter makes sence because she would want to get used! Helps that I HC her as having both abandoment issues and a NEED to feel useful. (Both sourced from how the Youkai she is based on forms.)
Stoutland is the weakest link. I knew I wanted to give her an Intimidate mon, and frankly Stoutland was just the path of least resistence given that I was playing her in Gen 5. You could probably replace stoutland with any of the dogs with intimidate and it would work. (Most other intim mons are too mean for her. Except Incinroar, that could work I guess.)
Camerupt is here to serve as her forge! She is a blacksmith afterall, so having a volcano pokemon to serve as her forge felt right! Not much else to say about Camerupt really.
Golbat is basically meant to represent her actual umbrella because it kinda bares the closest resemblence. For reference, it's NOT a Crobat not due to lacking the friendship requirement, but due to Kogasa really just not battling enough for it to actually evolve.
So, I knew I wanted Kogasa to have a ghost type, both because she's kinda sorta not really a ghost herself and also because ghost types are usually up to similar shenanigans as her. Went with Rotom for a few reasons. First, Rotom's flavor of anticks felt most fitting for Kogasa. Second, I feel that since Rotom is possessing objects all the time and being used to power tools nowdays, I think Kogasa would get on well with one. and the third reason was that I also wanted her to have a thunder spammer because rain team and did this for role compression.
Last is Escavilier. I knew I wanted her to have a steel type because of the whole blacksmith thing. I actually went with Escavilier specifically because of how it is a steel type SPECIFICALLY because of it's equipment. I like the idea that instead of this Karablast evolving via attempted Shelment homicide, it evolved because Kogasa just made it the equipment!

//BLOG IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REBOOTED!!! Mainly using it to interact with our friends’ blogs at the moment
*A teen sits alone in his dorm room, fumbling with a brand new Rotom phone. A small, purple-pink Pokémon floats over his shoulder. The two seem to be talking despite the Pokémon not speaking a human language. They eventually manage to work the phone.*
Uh, hey. Name’s Kieran. Heard people saying Rotomblr was nice so I’m here now I guess. No idea how this place works but I’ll figure it out.
Don’t wanna say too much about myself in case my classmates are here. One of my Pokémon might talk here sometimes too, and they don’t really wanna be known yet.
Not your Pokémon! Friend not trainer. [PT: Not your Pokémon! Friend not trainer. End PT]
Right, sorry Pecha.
Anyways, I should probably get back to homework. Ugh, I hate math…
//OOC below cut (lore and rules/boundaries)
Hiiiii welcome to the official ask blog for the Bridged Toxicity AU! (Link goes to the AU’s masterpost over on our main)
We have Ideas and wanted to let them out, but fic writing isn’t our thing, so here we are with an RP blog!
We as the mod use they/them and refer to ourself with we/us since we’re a system
Our version of Kieran uses He/They, and Pecharunt uses they/it.
Pecharunt can speak very limited English; Kieran has to translate for them the majority of the time. If Pecha ever does directly speak on here, it will write in pink text like this! [PT: pink text like this! End PT]. We’ll always provide plain text too when that happens, since the colored text can mess with screen readers and be hard to read for some people.
Pelipper Mail is open, and we’d love interactions from other RP blogs! (If anyone wants to collab our DMs are open to talk about it!)
In-character negative asks are welcome, and you can direct stuff to Kieran or Pecharunt. They were recently introduced to multiversal stuff, so they’re still adjusting.
Follows and likes come from @skyedancer2006 ^^
Now into the actual blog lore! (There’s a lot here to explain; sorry xd)
The TLDR is that Kieran met Pecharunt shortly after the Ogerpon confrontation in Kitakami. He willingly joined Pecha, and let himself be chained. The chain had unintended effects cause he willingly and eagerly took it. It’s pretty much part of him now and causes him to become more and more nonhuman (both physically and mentally) over time. At the time of this blog he’s somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd ref sheets in the masterpost.
-Pecharunt’s chains do give it a level of direct control over people and Pokémon, however, it prefers to only passively influence or leave them mostly alone. They will only take more direct action if needed to defend themself or their chained.
-Pecharunt is not malicious here! Like in canon, they just want to be liked by people, and take some less than moral approaches to reach this goal. At first, Pecharunt doesn’t fully realize what its mochi and chains do, and chain the Loyal Three against the Three’s wills. They do eventually realize the power they have though, and try not to use it unless necessary like we said above.
-And that leads into Kieran. When the two meet and Pecha offers the deal (Kieran gains power in the form of the chains, and in exchange Kieran lets Pecha tag along with him and they are “friends”). Kieran doesn’t care about the possible risks, and takes the chain, very much willingly.
-Kieran doesn’t resist the chains like the Three did, and as a result they affect him differently. Instead of simply attaching to him like they did the Three, the chains become part of him because of his desire to have them and the power they granted. They’re essentially burrowed under his skin and appear like tattoos along his spine almost. Except they can come out in the form of extra limbs (It’s more comfortable to have them out in some form; since it’s on his spine Kieran usually has the chain as a tail of sorts). Also fangs (cause I like fangs lol).
-At first the two of them are freaking out cause neither of them expected this to happen. It’s not exactly normal for a human to suddenly gain Pokemon-like features after all. Kieran figures out how to hide the chain itself (though it is very uncomfortable to do, since it retracts some and lies under his skin, very crushed/compressed) and the fangs are subtle enough to not be too much of a problem (unless someone looks closely). As more changes happen they become harder to hide though.
-The blog picks up after Kieran takes over the League as champion, and a little before the MC (who I’ll be using Florian for) shows up. Personality-wise they’re mostly the same, just more reclusive since they’re worried about people finding out about the chain and Pecharunt (who just hangs out in their dorm while he’s out, or hides in a backpack until they can be alone in the Terrarium). Pecharunt and Kieran do genuinely become friends at some point, despite the rocky start.
-Oh yeah, bc of the chains and Pecharunt, he can understand Pokémon to a certain extent. It’s not perfect and the only one he can fully understand is the peach itself (at least for now).
-Very outlandish idea but this is entirely self indulgent and we wanna have fun with it so yeah! We hope you all enjoy!

Cyrus could feel something was off the moment he entered the apartment. The lights were still on despite the late hour of the night he had returned home. He quietly closed the door behind him and slipped his shoes off as he headed through the entry hall to find the living room and kitchen lights flicked on. The television echoed some late night talk show. His eyes scanned the room carefully.
The concern and worry that had begun to grip his unfortunately human heart in its hold loosened when he saw you asleep on the couch. You were curled into yourself while gripping a box to your chest. He closed his eyes for a moment. Had you tried to wait up on him again? Foolish. Cyrus would not admit to himself that he felt bad for this.
Kneeling down at your side, he gently shook you awake. You should not sleep in such a position. A whine and groan came from you at first before you shot awake from the slumber that had consumed you. Your attention was instantly on the blue-haired man, who only held a stern expression. You smiled unexpectedly. Cyrus felt confused. Had you missed him that much?
“Cy,” you called out to him and pulled him into a hug. He stood stiffly as you buried your face into his nape. Before he could ask you anything, you pulled away from him and held out the box you had been cradling in your sleep. He took it and felt curious. “I saw something while I was out today and thought you might like it. C'mon, open it!” you encouraged him. He looked around the container.
It seemed like an ordinary box. Something he might like… His brain rushed with thoughts about it being some new machine you thought would catch his interest. Cyrus pulled back the lid and gazed at what was inside. He picked up the plush toy that was inside. A familiar orange shape with purple bolt-like wings coming from its side. A Frost Rotom plush. He squeezed it in his hands.
You watched as his stern expression dropped to something more neutral as he looked over the item. “They had a whole set, but I resisted getting them because I wasn't sure how many you already had in your collection,” you explained, “I knew you didn't have a Frost one because I saw you looking at them the other day.” Cyrus let out a sigh.
You, unfortunately, knew too much about him. It was expected of someone's lover, but it always caught him off-guard. He never wanted anyone to know about his collection of Rotom themed items, much too embarrassed by how it would be perceived and reflect on him. “Thank you,” he replied, “… I… I am also missing Heat Rotom, should you see it, too.” You grinned brightly and nodded. Then, a yawn came from you.
It was quite late. You rubbed your eyes and turned your attention to the bedroom door.
“Let's get to bed then, Cy,” you spoke more sluggishly now, “Your actual Rotom has cuddled up on to your side of the bed and refuses to move because it missed you so much.”
The blue-haired man felt oddly flustered. The both of you drew out too many feelings within him.
The Frost Rotom was carefully added to his ever-growing collection that night.

Summary: Returning home to Paldea to retire, after living a life known as the "Champion of Champions" brings you back to an old friend -now a new love- with dark secrets who need your help.
Pairing: Javi G x f!Reader
Rating: T (Any smut is going to be implied only)
Notes/Warnings: Nothing major, this story is going to be fairly light hearted, though I will be using some of the wild Pokédex entries as reference for a few scenes.

“Thank you Red, Professor Oak, you two have a good evening.” As the video call disconnected you leaned back in your seat and resisted the urge to groan, going through all of Lucas’ employee lists had revealed that there were a large number of his criminals that came from regions outside of Paldea. His goal had been to gain control over Paldea first and then slowly spread his influence, which was about what you’d expected, but the other Pokémon Leagues had actually been forced to sit up and take action with this new evidence.
Kanto had been the first to respond positively to your calls, with Red and Professor Oak both showing no hesitation to ensure the Kantonian criminals were put into prison where they belonged. Lance, in Johto, had been the next to respond favorably and even came to escort the Johtonese Rocket members back to their home region. The others had been exceedingly reluctant, though Leon’s reluctance stemmed from his poor sense of direction and being so new to his role of Champion, but caved in the end as more and more evidence piled up against their regions.
Confirmation that the last of the criminals had been locked up, hopefully for good, meant that this was officially over. Javi had been detained too, which was to be expected since he’d technically kept quiet about his family’s plan to bring the defunct Team Rocket back into power, but his involvement in starting their take-down was being considered to lighten his sentencing. You’d been under investigation as well, given that you’d traversed the world only to come back and start a relationship with Javi, but proving your own innocence was surprisingly easy after you submitted your Rotom Phone for their search warrant and they found nothing tying you to Team Rocket outside of putting them behind bars.
“All done?” You looked up to see Grusha and Katie, carrying hot drinks and a tray of treats, and your relieved groan made both of them chuckle fondly. Dramatically you draped your upper body over your desk and faked a few sobs, though you absolutely did take a few snacks from the tray once it was set down because you hadn’t realized how damn hungry you were, and that made Katie release an even louder laugh as you shoveled a pastry or two into your mouth with little care about how graceful you looked.
“Poor thing, have you eaten anything since Javi was taken in?” You opened your mouth to argue that, yes you had, only to close it and realize that you hadn’t. The lack of response on your end earned a soft look full of sympathy, your stress levels had been through the roof because Javi refused to allow you to use your position as the Champion to get him out easily. He wanted the citizens of Paldea to trust him -which you understood completely as much as you hated it- so he wanted to go through the entire court process, even if that ended up with him in prison for any length of time.
“I don’t- I can’t lose him now that I’m finally back.” A soft sound of sympathy escaped Grusha as the young man reached out to hold your hand, all the work you’d been doing had kept you busy and kept you from thinking about what happened and what was happening in court. Now that it was done you realized that all you could do was wallow, was hope that people understood Javi’s intentions had always been good, you needed them to see he’d waited for you to come back because he’d needed the ability to guarantee your safety after Lucas’ threats against you.
His surrender of all his own business records, his Rotom phone, his computer, everything had to count for something!
“It’s going to work out.” Katie’s firm positivity was something you envied, you wanted to be positive but you really didn’t know how you could.

Rotom buzzed with mirth as he zipped around the clearing, you’d turned off the device and allowed the little Pokémon inside of it some freedom -as you did often- for the day. The last two weeks had been hard for you now that you had legal responsibilities on top of your general League duties, like ensuring the Gym Leaders were up to snuff, and you spent a lot of your free time watching the news broadcasts for any updates on the Team Rocket trials. Poppy, as a child mixed up in all of this, was being sent to live with an Aunt from her mother’s family in the Orange Islands; meaning you were also looking for another person to add to the Elite Four as well.
Due to the vast number of Team Rocket members that had been part of law enforcement, and the legal process as a whole, things across Paldea had come to a grinding halt. The League season delayed two months and every Uva Academy student asked to return to the school and put their Treasure Hunt on hold, stolen Pokémon were being tracked down and returned to their owners, and the League was assisting in that as well. Except for you, of course, because you were busy preparing to meet with the region’s politics of media and privacy laws.
After the media caught wind that you’d enlisted children in your investigation the reporters had swarmed any student they could find, another big part of why Director Clavell had decided to call everyone back to the Academy, and the number of children that had reported feeling cornered and threatened to answer questions had skyrocketed to a worrisome degree. As you read over the rough draft of the complaints, and what the law might entail if put into effect, you wanted to scream over how much legal jargon you’d been forced to learn in order to get this far.
Larry had been the one to sit and listen to draft after draft, revision after revision, until he gave you a green light on the wording.
The beach behind your mother’s house was quiet after she outright exploded on countless members of the press that had tried to come hunting you down for a story, watching her scold them like naughty children into slinking away had been well worth the excess coddling and fussing she’d had in store for you upon returning home. The goal had been to keep yourself busy so you didn’t spend all day checking for news updates, or rushing to find a television, it was why you’d let Rotom out of the device as a way of forcing yourself to not continue to wallow.
As you closed your eyes, the weight of everything sort of hitting you at once, you could feel the way your mind blanked. When was the last time you’d managed to sleep, truly sleep, and not just drift in and out of consciousness? Poe, who was curled up in your lap, didn’t seem too upset as you laid the stack of papers back in your bag and reclined in the beach chair; the rest of your team was nearby too and with the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze tempering the heat you drifted off.
What stirred you awake wasn’t the warm body shifting you to curl up with you on the two seater lounge chair, it wasn’t Poe’s little trill of joy, or even the familiar cologne and even more familiar arms holding you close. When you did stir it was to the motions of your sturdy pillow breathing deep, the faint snore that your brain knew on a deeper level than any consciousness, the feeling of soft linen against your cheek and sturdy legs tangled with yours in all too familiar of a hold. You blinked and stared at the incredibly vivid orange shirt, glanced up at the patchy facial hair and outline of loose fluffy curls, and in your haste to sit up and stare at him your hand pressed hard into Javi’s ribs and his snore turned to a wheeze of surprise.
“Javi!” He blinked away his sleep and grunted when you threw yourself back onto him, unable to stop the way you basically smothered him in your excitement and his arms looped around you to squeeze you just as tightly. Javi’s hand rubbed your back as the first round of tears started and he sniffled quite loudly above you, just as emotional as you were, while Poe and Arizona cuddled together with their ribbons twined together on the sand.
“Mi amor, it was hard to track you down, Mama called me and told me you were here.” Your mother had clearly been paying attention to the news to be able to call him the moment he had his Rotom Phone back, you’d have to make sure you treated her to the best vacation in gratitude.
“I just wanted to get away from the cameras for a while, and I’ve been working on proposing privacy laws for the kids. It’s just been a lot.” Javi kissed the crown of your head and hummed, you knew if you looked up at him his eyes would be misty but right now you were just happy he was here.
“I heard, it is very impressive indeed. I am proud of you for doing what you can to protect the students who are coming after you in this region, they deserve someone looking out for their ability to go around without getting accosted by reporters trying to get a story.” Javi tipped your chin up to kiss you, making you smile against his lips, and he tapped his nose to yours before shifting to just lay on his back. The top half of the buttons on his shirt were open and you couldn’t help but trace the wide display of his chest when you raised yourself over him, wanting to just recline on him, and Javi smiled as you did just that.
“I was very fortunate, people let me tell my side of the story and didn’t make any hard accusations after it was revealed how many times I had attempted to anonymously report Lucas and my father for their plans only for it to fail due to their influence. I had known some of the police had been bought out but I had not known -at the time after you left- that they had the Chief of Police under their wallet as well.” You nodded once and were glad that Javi had kept all the records he had, of all the times he’d tried to do the right thing, and his hand rested against the back of your head as the two of you just enjoyed the sun together.
Your conversation shifted from the court case to the outcome, Lucas was going to be put into prison for a very long time and his pokémon were going to undergo rehabilitation to live in the wild. Every member of Team Rocket that had joined by choice had prison sentences of varying lengths and bans on owning any pokémon as well, and you could only hope that they truly learned their lesson rather than decided to bide their time to try and come back.
Javi was just as happy as you expected of him when you’d mentioned tracking down the stolen pokémon and reuniting them with their trainers, as well as arresting and imprisoning those who knowingly purchased stolen pokémon, and as the two of you just relaxed together you felt the anxiety and stress finally start to leave you knowing that he was safe.

Geeta had taken on the position of the Steel Type trainer for the Elite Four as a temporary measure with this League Season coming to a close, you being home meant that an interim Champion wasn’t necessary and with Geeta serving as the Steel Type trainer it allowed Addie to face her anyway. Addie had plowed through them all with determination, wit, and strength; the bonds she had with her team were strong and you felt the arena go quiet as you waited for your entrance. You’d been against something flashy and over the top but the coordinators had wanted to do something like Galar and make it big, to celebrate the win over Team Rocket, and Javi had gone as far as buying the outfit you were wearing today.
The lovely patterned button-down was a mosaic of colors, reminding you of the Mesagoza tiling, paired with bright white slacks that were high waisted; you tucked the shirt in and kept a good portion of the buttons undone, showing off some of your black bra underneath and your black flats were comfortable and stylish. You had your pokéballs on your belt and a flashy new watch on your wrist, feeling like this was it. No matter what happened, no matter who won, you felt like you could breathe because everything was finally right.
“Presenting our challenger, the newest graduate of Uva Academy and the Second in Command to Operation Rocket Fall, a hero of Paldea everywhere! Addie Cage!”
The crowd roared with excitement for the girl as she stepped out onto the field, you could see from the screen the way she waved happily and greeted everyone. The way she shaped her own future, not following her father’s path into fame by films or her mother’s path into fame through music, the teen was carving her way into the spotlight in the same path you walked and you were proud of her for it. The platform under your feet trembled and you sighed, putting a determined expression on your face, and one glance at the screen as it moved over the crowd showed Javi sitting with Jacq and the rest of the staff from the Academy as well as the Gym Leaders.
“Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Our Champion of Champions, hero of Paldea, the leader of Operation Rocket Fall and the greatest pokémon trainer to come out of our region! Let me hear you make some noise!”
Your name became a chant on the crowd as the platform raised, the smokescreen hiding you as an ice beam was shot overhead and exploded into the smallest shards to reflect prisms into the spotlight, and your hand raised as Poe stood at your side. The arena’s sound levels were through the roof and Addie smiled at you across the way, your own mouth curling up as you offered her a mock salute. You stepped closer to the center of the ring and offered your fist, letting Addie bump hers to yours.
“Ready to see how you stack up to the Champion?” You watched the way Addie grinned, her smile bright as she nodded, and you couldn’t help but reach out to tug on the brim of her hat before winking and heading back to your position as she did the same. Music exploded through the loudspeakers and you weren’t surprised to see that Addie was ready to go right off the bat. Her Salazzle was likely meant to counter Poe, given his fairy typing, but you weren’t starting with your first ever pokémon and Addie’s eyes sparkled as your Pawmot -Mittens- greeted you with a trilling cry.
Despite his little legs your Pawmot wasn’t a competitor to laugh at, proven when you commanded him to blast his opponent with a thunderbolt, and Addie’s quick thinking to counter the burst of electricity with acid spray to stop the bolt by giving it a new target. As Salazzle darted in for a fire lash you commanded Mittens to dig underground, the rocks and dust kicking up as he avoided the attack by going below, while Salazzle used poison gas to crate a cloud of noxious fumes around her.
From below ground Mittens, at your sharp command, used rain dance to trigger a gathering of clouds above that turned into a storm. The gas and any fire type moves were weakened enough that Mittens exploded from the hard ground, hitting Salazzle hard, and as you commanded him to use thunder it was Addie’s sharp command of protect that reduced the impact of the powerful electric strike. You grinned at the play and had Mittens go for a close combat since Salazzle’s protection was broken.
The acid spray was diluted from the rain but you knew that Mittens was still going to need an antidote because even with his successful attack you could tell he’d been poisoned. His little body swayed slightly before he shook his head and chirped, drumming his little chest like he was defying the fact that he was poisoned, and Salazzle hissed as she moved in for a fire lash. The thunder that Mittens called down right as his opponent got close enough was blinding and you watched as both Pokémon fainted in the aftermath.
You kissed Mittens’ pokéball and promised you’d treat him soon as you sent out your Clodsire as Addie’s Tatsugiri made an appearance on the field, the little orange water dragon making you smile as it growled in defiance of its opponent. You were a little surprised she hadn’t called on her Quaquaval, since he had a secondary typing as fighting and would have a move advantage over a ground type, but you suspected she was saving her starter for Poe.
“We’re gonna wash you away!” Addie’s confidence made you grin, the kind of crazed smile of excitement knowing that you were in for a spectacular battle.
Javi watched as Galena faced Tatsugiri, your Clodsire was a powerful tank of a pokémon after the years of training and sparring, and he couldn’t help but marvel at the way Addie used the water portion of the arena to her advantage with a series of water pulses in order to stack dragon dance and give itself a power up. But Galena hadn’t been idle and using several gunk shots on the water itself to steadily taint the environment before using protect to avoid falling victim to the hydro pump meant to take her out. Addie’s command for an outrage was smart but the moment Tatsugiri exited the water it was clear that the poison had gotten into its little system.
Beside him Nic was shouting his daughter’s name, cheering her on, and Javi couldn’t help but smile because Addie truly was proving to be one of the best competitors you’d faced in a long time. Her bond with her pokémon was strong, it showed when Tatsugiri shook off the poison long enough to land a powerful chilling water on Galena and KO your second choice. It was clear you were having a good time, Javi was one of the only people who knew every variety of a smile you could make and while some might see yours as borderline dangerous he knew that in reality you were buzzing with adrenaline.
Your third choice was Riki, the Farigiraf had been a new addition to your team not long before you became Champion but in a short time you’d formed a lasting bond with him, and Riki was raring to go. The twin beam that he used was strong enough on the first blow to KO the little water dragon and Addie just nodded, knowing that Tatsugiri had pushed through for her. Watching her Houndstone bark as he made his appearance, an almost direct and obvious counter to Riki’s normal and psychic typing, all Javi could do was smile.
Ghost moves would be ineffective, it was the dark type moves that you’d have to watch out for, but he wasn’t at all surprised when you used your go-to combo with Riki. Agility for speed and a barrage of shadow balls as the larger pokémon galloped around the canine ghost, only interrupted by the stomping tantrum that Addie used to crack the hard terrain and allow her Houndstone to set up for a snarl and crunch combo. But you’d been ready with a thunder wave and twin beam combo to take advantage of the brief paralysis.
Addie called back her KO’d ghost type and huffed, all while Riki stomped his feet ready to face whatever challenge came next.
Kilowattrel was fast, wicked fast, and Javi was biting his nails as the avian pokémon wove around the attacks you tried to use in order to take it down; agility was off the table now that the terrain was split up enough to risk Riki hurting himself navigating it. But watching you use thunder wave made him almost shout, worried about the volt absorb ability that was common to Kilowattrel, only to gasp when your opponent was slowed.
“Your Kilowattrel is a wind power variety? Good.” The confidence you had, and your knowledge of pokémon ability classifications, was another reason Javi was sure that you had been able to take on the toughest opponents and come out on top. The fact that you’d been willing to test your opponent, to take the risk, made him cheer as Nic groaned softly when Riki clipped the slowed pokémon with his twin beam. But Addie was not here to surrender easy and after kicking up a hurricane, going so far as to make sure the poisoned water was caught up in the raging winds, she used discharge to create a wide range attack that wasn’t able to be dodged.
Instead you opted to use shadow ball like a shield and had Riki shoot several large ones, the volatile energy connecting and breaking apart the electric currents enough that they were severely weakened. Addie went for a brave bird as you had Riki charge another shadow ball and the impact of the two was a burst of energy that led to a double KO. You still had the advantage, three pokémon to Addie’s two, but Javi had a feeling the younger Cage had saved her heavy hitters for the end.
Sneaky ran a frantic circle when he made his appearance as Addie sent her Clodsire out, your eyes narrowing slightly in consideration, and Javi realized this was where you were going to need to be careful. Sneaky had a type disadvantage even though his costume acted like a substitute at least once, and Sugar was going to be struggling with the ongoing spray of water from the slowly fading hurricane. Poe would have to be the one to face against Addie’s Quaquaval, since Sugar would have a type disadvantage, but Clodsire wasn’t a weak pokémon.
You felt like you were running hundreds of calculations with each second that passed, paying attention to Addie’s assault with earthquake and venoshock as Sneaky used shadow sneak and light screen to avoid and negate damage while you came up with a strategy. Sugar’s fire and ghost typing was a wash against Quaquaval unless you could set up torch song at least once or twice, the water and fighting type wasn’t the worst match up but it wasn’t great for you either. You had an opening when Addie’s Clodsire went to set up a yawn and used sunny day to set up for Sugar and wipe away the hurricane remnants.
Addie made a noise of irritation that you could hear from your side of the field, you remembered back then when terrain and status moves were something you often avoided using too, and suspected that she didn’t have a direct counter. With the warmth drying out the ground quickly you jumped on the distraction to get a psychic out, one of the few direct counters you had to poison typing, and watched as Clodsire tanked the hit only to lob a venoshock and acid spray in succession that slowed your little buddy down.
Sneaky hissed and you commanded another psychic knowing that play rough wasn’t going to help here, while your little ghost worked to run away from the poison attacks that Addie was chaining in an attempt to catch him off guard. Sneaky wasn’t able to withstand the poison though, likely the strong toxicity from the double direct attack, and you resisted the urge to curse as Sugar roared when you sent him out. Your Skeledirge was your second ever pokémon, your gift from Uva Academy for entering, and he’d been by your side for decades now.
Sugar was likely capable of winning it all -because you weren’t going to just let Addie win to retire- but that was reliant on how many times you could chain torch song without interruption. Clodsire was slow though and you could tell Addie didn’t have any water type moves in her repertoire for him, it gave you a solid chance. As soon as you commanded it you watched Addie’s jaw shift, the way she clearly tried to calculate her choices. It was obvious to use earthquake here but Sugar’s torch song was more than enough to disrupt the attack, making you grin as he set up the second one.
Clodsire tried to set up a yawn but the second torch song cut through the attempt and you were starting to feel more confident now for Quaquaval to make his appearance. All you needed was one more torch song to guarantee that Sugar’s attack power -which was amplified by the move itself and by the weather effect you’d put up- would be boosted enough to possibly just take out the water type with a few good blows. Knowing he’d be slow back then had led to you training up his speed, which was the best move you could have made, because people underestimated Sugar’s speed and movement all the time.
It was a grueling battle between Clodsire and Sugar, the two trading off attempts at heavy hitting blows, but Addie’s little tank proved to be resilient enough to KO your boy before it went down too and you held Sugar’s pokéball tightly and whispered about how proud you were of him. You made a mental note to treat all of them to the best sandwiches, a long picnic, and lots of cuddles for doing so well.
“Are you ready, Poe?” Beside you your Sylveon, your first ever pokémon, your partner since the very beginning barked once and jumped into the arena as Quaquaval made its appearance. You had a type advantage and an experience advantage, though you were lacking some of the surprise since videos of your battles against the Elite Four had been posted everywhere. But that, you decided, was just fine. Addie met your gaze across the battle field and you nodded, ready to finish it here.
As you grabbed your Tera orb you watched Addie do the same, boosting her water-type moves given Quaquaval’s water Tera type, and you watched the way her teeth grit together when Poe’s grass Tera typing was revealed.
The arena was going crazy and you turned to look at Javi when he ran down from the stands, smiling fondly when he captured you in his arms for a hug, and Arizona let out a soft trill as she curled around the exhausted form of Poe as your partner made his way back to your side. Addie walked over, cradling the pokéball of her defeated Quaquaval, and you pulled her into a tight hug. “You did so well, I think next League season I’ll have to really watch my back. A little more experience under that belt of yours and I’m done for.”
“You better believe it!” Hearing her confident reply, knowing that her spirit wasn’t dimmed by the defeat at all, made you grin and turn her over to her parents as the ring announcer declared you to be the reigning Champion still. You glanced at Javi, who was smiling, and he held your hand high up in the air the same way he’d done all those years ago when you’d first been named the Champion. It felt bittersweet, you were ready to retire from all of it, but there was still a lot for you to do as the Champion now that you’d been all over and seen some of the flaws in how the regions protected their upcoming trainers.
Being able to work one-on-one with Addie to help her have a better footing for when -because you knew it wasn’t an if question- she defeated you would be best. Addie’s friends crowded her, cheering on her battle skills, and you made the choice to level up and train a new team for the next League season. To relive your adventure of catching and training a team from the ground up, to face Addie on more equal footing, and to rejoice being home.
\“Are we going to be going on an adventure, mi amor?” The fact that Javi knew you well enough to tell what you were thinking was just proof of how close the two of you really were.
“Yeah, as soon as League season starts again I’m going to start over to face Addie and any other challengers on more equal footing.”
“I cannot wait to spend more time under the stars with you.” Javi squeezed your hand gently, the closing ceremony was more a formality as they placed the Champion Medallion on your neck, and you followed Addie and her friends out of the arena where they eagerly discussed classes that would happen until the next season rolled around. You turned and kissed Javi gently, making him smile into the kiss, and headed for the pokémon center to heal your team up.
Before you could get mobbed by reporters you let Javi call a flying taxi to get you both back to your place, to just get away from it all for today, and you were ready to start your new chapter with him now that you had the time and chance to do so. In a few short months you’d be traveling all over Paldea again, just like you had when you were ten, but right now you curled up with your boyfriend and let him whisper words of love and pride into the crown of your head as you thanked the stars that he was able to be here with you like this.
The dawn of your retirement would come, but for now you still had work to do.

There's trouble to building your luxurious battle resort at the foot of a volcano, especially an active one -- eventually, it goes off. While the board at first tried to wave away rumors of tremors and increased volcanic activity as just that, eventually a report from the Pan-Japanese Survey Initiative put paid to doubt. The ever-huffy Mt. Stark, so long threatening, was about to blow, and forget losing the Battle Frontier, Veilstone and the local League -- Hell, everything east of the Coronet range was in risk of being wiped out.
Naturally, this was bigger than the Battle Frontier. Complete suppression of the eruption was considered impossible, and after developing a task force between Frontier Brains and Sinnohian Gym Leaders, a plan of mitigation was set into motion. Suppression was impossible, and would only lead to bigger issues down the line even if successful. That sucker had to blow; it was just a question of how hard.
Pokemon with resistance to super-hot temperatures were used to dig pressure-relieving tunnels, just short of magma's pyroclastic flow, with the aim of leaving behind a thin layer for Stark to penetrate and create tributaries. Forcing the mountain to erupt with a whimper, not a boom. This would grant some precious time before step two, which involved a mass appeal for trainers to temporarily transfer their Heatran to the task force, given that the local population had migrated to parts unknown. Other Pokemon such as Camerupt and Moltres were requested as well, but the conspiracy mills were well on their way.
Heatran Migration Planned By Sinnoh Elite! Just another rumor to add to the unhinged icebergs of the world, to set in the mid tier above "research by the disgraced Galactic Initiative created the modern Rotom Phone" but below "the Frontier is a front for organized gambling."
Though the preliminary efforts were promising, they were by no means a guarantee. In time, the ancient elemental Regi-golem Pokemon were gathered to Snowpoint Temple, where Regi-gigas could be called upon. Its invoked aspect, subdued in battle by the Sinnoh Champion, was brought to Mt. Stark. This joint herculean effort ultimately paid off -- the mountain erupted in a calm and safe manner.
The Battle Frontier was ruined, of course, buried under lava, but everything essential had been disassembled and taken away. Mt. Stark has since rejoined the Sinnoh mainland through subduction, though its adjoining basalt land is currently classified as a disaster zone and is off limits without government permission. Its lava flow continues at a gentle bubble to this day.
With the threat mediated, the Frontier's board returned to what was most important: makin' money. Needed to rebuild the Frontier before people lost interest and their talent got poached away -- and to avoid the risks of regional phenomena inhibiting service again. Deals were struck: one with the Aether Foundation for co-use of their proprietary artificial island technology, and with Stern Shipyard Co to make the new Frontier truly without borders. With what could be salvaged from the Mt. Stark location, construction of the mobile island VLFS Frontier took just under two years. The new Battle Frontier was not only a resort, but a mobile mini-city drifting through the oceans of the world.
During the down time, the capricious noble Caitlin's interest waned, and no longer satisfied with second-hand battling, she was poached by the Unovan Elite Four. The space set aside for the Battle Castle was instead earmarked for the Battle Pike, where the experienced leader from Hoenn, Lucy, took their place as Pike Master. Though some critics considered their Pike too similar to Dahlia's Arcade, Frontier aficionados delight in the difference sin feel and atmosphere between them. Negotiations to additionally poach the Battle Pyramid's head fell through when it came to light that said Pyramid would have to be at least partially underwater. Hall Matron Argenta has privately announced her intention to retire, though not before properly preparing a successor. Among the suggestions considered include a facility run by former Gym Leaders Candace and Maylene themed around survival in extreme conditions, but nothing has been set in stone.
Additionally, during the restructuring, the GDPR came into effect -- a set of privacy laws that restructured the way corporations could collect data. This profoundly cramped Factory Head Thorton's style, as it made the Pokemon scanning devices he used illegal. He would condemn and generally make himself the main character online for some time until he was asked to resign. As a result, one of the administrators of the Factory, an accountant who had been understudying for Thorton for several months when he was too 'busy' to serve as Head, took on the position. Her changes include eliminating single battles entirely, changing the focus to adaptability and synergy between random Pokemon.
As such, this leaves the Battle Frontier with five brains -- Tower Tycoon Palmer, Arcade Star Dahlia, Hall Matron Argenta (pending retirement), Pike Master Lucy, and Factory Chief Cross.
Currently, the island “ports” a few miles outside major regional clusters, offering free transportation to accredited local trainers. A completely self sufficient environment, the Frontier is carbon neutral and releases no waste into local host environments thanks to an in-depth recycling system and a tireless sanitation innovation team. Despite the “international waters” that it travels, the Frontier follows all local laws and will liaise with Interpol for extradition if necessary.
Tangentially: The Battle Frontier bans region-specific phenomena as a matter of course, regardless of their feasibility on the premises. Whether it be mega-evolution, Z-Crystals, sync-stones, Terastallization, or Dynamax, such phenomena either simply won't work in the Frontier facilities or will result in an immediate disqualification. (Trainers possessing an exceptional battle-bond with their partners are allowed, reluctantly.) The idea is to create an environment where the pinnacle of battling can be achieved -- but specifically the pinnacle of battle anywhere in the world, with no losses due to "gotchas" or simply unknown knowledge. (Now, this doesn't always work due to the natural opportunity cost of regional Pokemon, but it is at least theoretically possible.)
This is also why some Pokemon are classified as 'restricted' -- those not intensely studied by recognized professors to Pokedex classification. Really, it comes down to two reasons -- the Frontier Brains need to know the basics of the Pokemon they're facing for exciting battles, and the Frontier needs to know the capabilities of those Pokemon should they go out of control.

Just got off a video call from my parents... They are worried sick, but at least, they have so far resisted the urge to travel to Opelucid to knock down my door...
... It feels odd that we're doing this over a computer, now. Is this a backslide from the XTransceiver? When did Rotom phones completely replace those? What happened?
I feel like one of the last people who doesn't use a Rotom in my phone at all. This is surely just that I notice them everywhere when I think about it, but...
