Pro tips for if you are going to use the sims 4 mod manager to clean up your mods folder :

1)install the latest ver. Dont use your old install, the newer one is much more stable, faster, can load a huge amount of cc and has the multi page viewer instead of having a 500 packages load cap.

2) do not delete from inside the program, for some reason (for me) it creates duplicates. instead create a folder called delete, use the transfer option, multi select all the files you want to delete, move them to the folder, and then delete the folder when you're done ( also its fun to see how much you deleted in total!) .

3)if you right click a package you can edit all of its info, including clicking " search image on google" which is really helpful when a package doesnt have a thumbnail, and you dont know what it is. it works perfectly 9/10 times.

4) for build and buy its much faster to just go in game ,open up an empty lot ,put down everything you want in it, save it to your library, and then using sims 4 tray importer to extract all these items all at once with one click (as if you are including the cc in a download zip) .

5) same for skin details ,it takes about 10 mins to create 2 or 3 sims with your favorite skindetails packed on them, save to library ,and extract with tray importer.

6) create folders for themed cc that you just collect specific themed cc in ! where you can keep it on a seprate drive or usb and put in game when you need to use it. it saves so much space and you wont feel guilty for deleting unique cc that you wanted to use! specifically for one save or lookbook its not worth to keep it in game indefinitely so do this instead!

7) dont be afraid to delete alot! if you look at somthing and say "hmmm i've never used it but i might" delete instantly! trust me you will never use that item and you will forget about it once you scroll away.

I have access to the Sims Resource mod manager, and I honestly cannot figure that thing out. I'm not great when it comes to a lot of programs, to be honest with you.

Knowing that I needed to get a mod manager for all the CC/Mods I have, I searched for three that would be simple for me to use. I looked everywhere and came across three amazing creators that have mod managers that were the best to use.

CC creators faking updates to be at the top!

This whole issue sounds so overdramatic but its more annoying that anything!

I can't be the only one that has noticed some CC creators suddenly having updates on their CC every time you open Curseforge or the Sims 4 mod manager. After about the sixth time I had updated all the stuff from Quirky introvert, I sent a message asking them what is up, never got a reply. Still baffled I continued as usual thinking "this is probably just them sorting or fixing something with their CC" so I updated and moved on. But since then it has continued and today I opened the app and had again an notice to update ALL of their CC.

So I did a a little research and found out that if you sort by popular when looking at CC, ALL their CC is now at the top as most popular, which good for them to find a cheat in the system. Hella annoying for anyone actually using and supporting their CC.

I am torn how to feel about it, I will probably just delete all their CC because I really need to know what mods and CC that actually needs to be updated for my game to work, so them constantly saying they need to be updated is going to bug the shit out of me. I personally don't really want to take the risk that anything is broken and it feels a bit shitty that they know most simmers is going to update to not fuck up their saves etc.

I don't really think this is a huge scandal or anything, I just wanted people and Curseforge to be aware that updating CC is used as a cheat to get on top. I also think it will probably only hurt the content creators that do this in the long run, as people like me will get really annoyed getting the popup to update their stuff every time I open the app and will probably stop using their CC/mods all together.

The real issue I think is most important would be that if more CC creators start doing this we will not really know what mods and CC actually need to be updated for the game to work and what is just there to get to the top. It also doesn't really give a fair chance for new CC and mod creators that would be popular to end up on the top. As they will be buried further down. So it a bit douchey to do this.

Do y'all know about the sims 4 mod manager? It is a pretty good program for organizing cc and deleting anything you don't need. I highly recommend, so far everything seems to be going good.

My sims game keeps crashing, tried to see if perhaps a mod was doing it, seemed to narrow down which mod it was that was doing it by taking groups out at a time and doing the same thing until it stopped crashing. Was between two. Put one back in, game crashed, took that mod out, no crash, so I put the other kid in to double check. Crashed. Tried taking both out again, crashed. Took whole folder I had narrowed it down to previously. Crashed. I feel like my game is just fucking with me now

#started actually playing sims 4 again lately and decided to update my game yesterday.m #then i try playing today and when i hit play origin just minimizes and comes back and the game doesn’t load #looked at mod manager and there are so many conflicting mods #might just do 50/50 method but i’m tired. sick and tired

So after hemming and hawwing for a while, I finally downloaded the Sims 4 Mod Manager and I can’t believe I didn’t get it earlier? Part of the reason I was so hesitant was because it doesn’t really do subfolders and I tend to organize my cc by category and creator but even though it doesn’t do that, the thumbnails it gives make it really to find cc I don’t want and then delete it (by making a “to delete folder” and then going into the Mods folder to delete said folder but it still works).
