for pavitr, miles, gwen, etc. all the “canon events” that “have to happen”- where does that come from? because it is sure as hell not what happened to miguel

not to mention miles was right when he said the reason pavitr’s universe was being destroyed was because of Spot, not because he changed some supposed “fixed event” in the timeline

(plus we see pavitr later on in the movie and it seems like everything is fine? i’m not entirely sure but i don’t think he would be there if his entire universe was just destroyed yk)

maybe i’m oversimplifying this but idk i just don’t get how miguel goes from purposefully living in a different universe and it eventually being destroyed (because you were never meant to be there in the first place dumbass) to him creating some weird “algorithm” of events that are “supposed to happen”

like miles said, what proof is there? because miguel’s thing is an entirely different situation to a spider-person losing (or not losing) someone close to them. i’m sure we’ll see in the 3rd movie that once Spot is dealt with, pavitr’s universe will be fine and that will be that basis for proving the algorithm is bullshit

show opens on zheng leading a raid and INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH. this might be the first time we've seen a raid where like. the background music is kinda moody. and what's odd is that it has like the same level of comedically over-the-top violence and characters just having a casual conversation as like, the e5 cold open. but there's sad piano and strings doing tremolo in the background. i have no idea what this means.

another thing ive been wondering abt tho is just how much is this show gonna completely fuck with history. because like. is zheng yi sao gonna conquer the fucking caribbean. are we just going completely off the rails re: historical accuracy and inventing entire major historical events?? like crocs and pinocchio and pirates from different historical periods all existing at the same time and in the same place is one thing but if the characters like. overthrow england. then ofmd just straight-up exists in an alternate timeline at that point.

but idk it's weird that olu's like "ok stede zheng is busy" and stede's just like "im gonna shake this thing now teehee"

Cuz something occurred to me

The Fundamental...underlying dynamic of Rio and Emma's relationship changes depending on if you're in his route or not.

Like I've been mad about the lack of rio before but now I've realised some of it is because of that fundamental aspect.

All the way back when i first opened the app and read the prologue, Emma says "I've accepted that true love is something I'll never have for myself" (or smt like that) and the very next thing I see is Rio. And He brought me food he made and is offering to watch the store so I can go look at stuff around the town and if you're me you think "???? BITCH THE FUCK YOU WAITING FOR??? HE'S RIGHT THERE! HOW'S HE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU!?" and then i learn about the amnesia and I'm like "oh.red flag. Understandable."

Now. The way that that line's meaning specifically changes in Hindsight depending on if you're in Rio's route or not is that in Rio's route, It's a mutual crush with both of them holding back. (They literally give each other special made chocolate on Valentine's day but no they are not dating or anything) in other routes, it's Rio having a one sided crush.

I only remember reading one translation of one early scene in Rio's route that also makes clear this distinction and makes it clear that Emma also has intrusive crush thoughts about Rio.

I'm talking about that time they were drinking tea and catching each other staring and Emma thinking to herself that Rio's pretty and then catching herself like "but I'm NOT falling in love or anything"

I cannot recall any of this nuance in someone else route event or main. But the again there aren't... A lot of other characters I would rush to play the event route of.

I feel like this does a bit of a disservice to Rio's character because it's ONE thing when it's him having an required crush and Emma's like "i just like him as a friend" and ANOTHER when she's like "i might have a little crush but I. Literally don't know anything about where he's from and it's been 3 years and nothing's happened, he's always looking after me but he doesn't really open up to me and I don't wanna possibly ruin our friendship so should I jist get over it?"

And idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ᵐᵃʸᵇᵉ she felt like that at some point in other timelines but got over it by the point where the story starts but she doesn't in rio's cuz it's ♥*♡∞:｡.｡t r u e l o v e ｡.｡:∞♡*♥

But we never get an indication EITHER way. Like like they hanged out together on valentines and christmas for 3 years I do not remember them mentioning in other events if that still HAS happened or not. (Someone please comfirm or deny this) Their interactions are mostly kept on surface level except for a look Rio gives here and there and Emma's like "i have literally never seen that look on your face before what the fuck does that mean" which I guess... Makes sense... The prologue has to be a neutral zone, and her character changes slightly depending on who's route you're in cuz cybird has learned to think about what kinda woman the suitor would fall for AND what kinda woman would fall for each suitor (gestures to the literally masterpiece that is Clavis' route) and also there's info they keep close to the chest and save it for the route. If they added more hints like that they'd run the risk of making MC unreletable cuz.... *chuckles* instead of having me go "where's rio?" "IT'S NOT EVEN HIS ROUTE" you'd have others go "Here's Rio" "IT'S NOT EVEN HIS ROUTE" (as if Chev's route doesn't have moments that is literally like "Here's Clavis" "IT'S NOT EVEN HIS ROUTE") and " yeah no that wouldn't be me. I wouldn't have a crush on Rio cuz I hate him/i only see him as a friend.

BUT I STILL FEEL LIKE IT HURTS RIO'S IMAGE AND IT PISSES ME OFF SORRY IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIM BUT-

in Rio's Christmas event, which is in his POV, Nokto literally points out how despite how obviously whipped he is for Emma and how he says he loves her all the time he hasn't REALLY made a proper move on her. He hasn't tried his luck. He had Emma almost all to himself for 3 YEARS AND DID NOTHING (mood tho). Rio contemplates to himself how he cannot remember anything from before met Emma but he gets this very bad feeling that if he ever gets his memory back he will ne torn away from her and. It would be unfair to her.

These occasions, that are supposed to be for lovers, are also when he thinks about how one day Emma will have a lover and she will spending this time with him and he will lose her. Like. That's just. An inevitability to him. (Abandonment issues is a bitch)

RIO NEVER SHOOTS HIS SHOT. NOT REALLY. *blantantly ignores silvio's route cuz idk wtf went down there* He always eventually backs down and lets her be with whoever Emma choses! He's more okay with some of the suitors than others ( "i cannot be mad at Prince Yves, he's a nice guy" vs *strained angry smile* "You're telling me King Chevalier has not contacted you for a whole week since you've been to see him and confess your undying love-" *he gives his blessing after Chev does his grand gesture*)

HE FEELS GUILT OVER THE SLIGHTEST COURTING GESTURE HE DOES LIKE "i have no right to push my feelings onto her like that"

And here's the real kicker, EMMA INVITED HIM TO SPEND CHRISTMAS WITH HIM. These, and others, are things that Emma has done to befriend him and make him feel welcomed in a foreign land, where he had no family or memories. That's all after she literally saved his life despite being a complete stranger. No wonder he's whipped.

BUT HE NEVER SHOOTS HIS SHOT cuz he's afraid of losing even the friendship he already has. He doesn't go "here are my feelings. You are my whole world and I love" CUZ HE THINKS THOSE WOULD BE A BURDEN

and I have to sit here like. Who hurt you? I want names. He's literally like a puppy who got abandomed in the street and now he has abandomed issues. It extends to how he only wants her to see his good side too as if being anything other than happy go lucky and helpful is a crime

Jaehaera has a disability for narrative purposes, because GRRM needs to quickly explain away why the greens somehow stop demanding that Andal inheritance law be respected. Aegon III had to be king, so he's making his way backwards to fit his ending.

This gets even weirder when you realize that there's ANOTHER case of a young Targaryen girl getting passed over for the iron throne because of a disability - Vaella, who needed to get passed over because Aegon V was the one who is supposed to be King. Her claim is "immediately" dismissed despite the fact that she's the only child of the King's eldest son, presumably because of both her gender and her disability.

In fact, there's a... Weirdly significant number of Targaryen girls who are described as "simple-minded," or otherwise appear to be coded as intellectually disabled: Gael, Jaehaera, Vaella, and potentially Daella as well. Daella dies of childbirth at 18, Gael drowns herself at 19 after being "seduced and abandoned by a traveling singer," and giving birth to a stillborn baby, Jaehaera dies at 10, either by suicide or murder, and while we don't know what happens to Vaella, the fact that she's never mentioned at all after that event means either she lived an unremarkable ignored life and then died before present times, or that she died young. That's a weird amount of "simple-minded" Targaryen girls who die young. Idk if this pattern means anything, but I've noticed it before and it sticks out to me.

(while I do want Jaehaera in the show to have a character and not just be portrayed as an "simple-minded" little girl, I do hope they keep her as autistic. I think there's plenty of room to give her a ton of depth without simply erasing her neurodivergence and I really want the showrunners to realize that potential.)

I received these additional asks about Jaehaera and was meaning to answer them, but I got distracted.

I want to clarify the fact that IMO the problem isn't if Jaehaera had a disability or was autistic/neurodivergent, the problem is that the author chose to incapacitate her so much that she is/would be incapable of taking care of herself. She is described as having some kind of mental setback ("she is eight going on four"), weeps inconsolably when she is corrected, wets her bed every night, doesn't laugh, has to be drugged to sit still at her own wedding. I cannot imagine how she could consent to a marriage or to marital relations in the future, with the whole trouble of child-birthing and rearing.

And what is the point of all this, I have to ask? Because this is very much not Jaehaera's story. It's not about how Westeros is so ill-equipped to handle mentally impaired individuals. In fact, the narrative doesn't know how to get rid of her quicker. After fighting a bloody civil war over Andal Law, the greens conveniently decide to disregard all that and don't push for her claim (that's how disabled she is). Everyone who could conceivably be on her side is quickly killed - her father, her grandmother, Ser Willis Fell. The new 15-year-old Lord Lyonel Hightower suddenly can't raise another army for the greens because he is too busy fucking Lady Sam. (?!) Jaehaera dies a horrible, graphic death, lingering in tremendous pain for half an hour. Couldn't she have received at least the mercy of a quick death?

This is why I see her being incapacitated for narrative purpose. All of this happens in favour of Daemon's freaking children - it's like they all had to band together to help erase Jaehaera from the annals (three of them at least). There is no reason for all of them to survive, considering how FB has no issue with inventing random events just to get rid of characters. Yet they do. Of course Aegon III becomes king at Jaehaera's expense, of course his brother Viserys II also gets to become king at some point, because why not? Daemon should get to have two kingly sons, not one, as a treat. Baela and Rhaena get this stupid gotcha moment at the Maiden's Day Ball when they bring their six-year-old cousin Daenaera to replace Jaehaera as Queen, as if that's some sort of triumph and not inappropriate AF.

This is why I dislike the introduction of characters like Daenaera and Myrielle - because they're been intentionally placed there to replace a traumatized and damaged little girl with a trauma-free, suitable, lovable consort. Don't get me wrong, these two girls don't get a chance at their own story either, they exist only to replace Jaehaera and to please Aegon III.

I also deeply dislike and do not understand why there are so many "simple-minded" Targaryen princesses - Daella and Gael have particularly awful stories. Vaella's story is just a repeat of Jaehaera's, but with less awfulness and violence. What's the point? Get some interviewer grill these questions into GRRM ASAP.

So, I do hope that they change this in the show somehow to make it less awful. I would not want Jaehaera reduced to an invalid, her claim passed over, and I would not want her to die. Of course, if she lives, then I would have to contend with her being the mother of Aegon III's senseless children, so, honestly, I don't know which is worse.

Do you think it’s possible for the realm of the elderlings to be adapted for a tv show or movie ( I think between the two it could most likely be a tv if it ever were to be) idk with all these book adaptations being announced we probably aren’t too far away. Who would your preferred cast be for an adaptation? Would you like HBO, Netflix, Amazon or Apple to produce it or anyone else ?

I love you anon whoever you are because this is a topic I have many takes on!

So first off, I have mixed feelings about how RotE would work in live action.

Pros:

-We could get out of Fitz’s POV a bit and get more of what other characters are up to. This would give us a way better perspective on the political situation in the 6D, the Red Ship Wars/persecution of the Old Blood/tensions between Regal and Verity/various other plotlines that could be really compelling if we get more characters perspective. We could see different sides to the characters too. Like it would be so interesting to see Regal when he’s around useful people keeping the mask intact, or how the Fool and Shrewd interact with each other, or more about Chade and Kettricken struggling over who is really in charge of Dutifuls regency.

-The characters are all so human and complex they would be juicy opportunity for actors. Imagine someone getting the chance to play Burrich and dial up the queer subtext with his “our Wit is shameful and you need to crush it like I did” to 100, or getting to see Patience lament how Fitz pushes her away despite her best efforts to be a mother to him. We could have some truly amazing early season GoT level scenes of actors crushing it in scenes where they do nothing but talk to someone. It could pick up the mantle of intelligent fantasy for adults that was so badly dropped by GoT in later seasons.

-The Fool would be SUPER well received by 2023 audiences I think. Queer, non-binary (that would almost certainly be more explicitly stated in any modern adaptation,) a snarker on the powerful and friend of the downtrodden and crusader for a better world. I also think Fitzloved would be played up a lot.

Cons:

-Losing Fitz’s POV. This is a double edged sword. If we can’t hear his thoughts, he comes off as way less sympathetic. Things like the quarrel or the Nettle situation or his neglect of Bee would make him seem like such a dick if we aren’t hearing his thoughts and realizing how fucked up he is. The series is heavily reliant on internal narration.

-The Wit and the Skill would be really hard to portray in a visual way. They are both basically telepathy, with the Skill eventually expanding to healing as the plot requires it. The magic in general isn’t super suited to a visual format outside of the Elderlings.

-Weaving in the events of Liveship Traders and RWC would be difficult, but the story would need to basically be rewritten entirely to not include them. They run into timeline that prevent them from all being blended together like Netflix does with the Shadow and Bone show; like Amber is mutually exclusive to the Fool/Lord Golden and Kelsingra can’t happen until after everything goes down in Bingtown.

Who would I like to make it?

HBO for sure; they have a proven track record of being able to do prestigious fantasy in a way other streamers don’t. Netflix would absolutely murder it (the only reason Sandman was good was because Neil Gaiman was extremely involved.)

Dream casting?

I would prefer unknowns and stage actors for the most part. Makes it easier to see them as the characters. That said, I have a perfect Fitz and the Fool: D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Hunter Schaefer

when it comes to vara we know she absorbed anthonys personality and nemories but the degree of this is never addressed, so theres no knowing how much "anthony" is vara, that makes it a little vague to analyze her words bcuz we dont know if its "her" talking or her anthony parts (then again the distinction might not matter). the introject-coded nature of the relationship did not go unnoticed

so in this chapter vara does say she only sees jacques once a year, which means that annotations are usually p rare (especially assuming its not the same marginal that gets annotated every year, so maybe marginals only get routine annotations after several years). one thing she mentions is conspiring against media, which might give more clues to the nature of jacques and anthonys relationship, at least i think what vara meant is that she has memories of jacques and anthony conspiring against media

for anthony this makes sense if he had visions that influenced his actions seeking jacques out and involving him in his plans might be self fulfilled prophecies. idk what jacques would have gotten out of this tho, and his denial that this happened can mean vara is just intentionally riling him up

ofc on that vein, varas purpose is involving the marginals existence so i wonder if her trying to get in the way of meja is like her own way of trying to protect media from smthg she knows abt jacques, but that she can only express in an anthony-ish way. idk. rly vara is so mean in a way designed to annoy ppl the sincerity of her words is hard to think abt

the "main" part of the update imo is media and vara talking. first thing i noticed is that media is definitely meaner when jacques isnt around. not only by his impatient demeanor around vara, but even in his open admission to he finds other marginals disgusting. ofc, this may not be exclusive to media (vara seems to suggest, marginals looking down on each other for dying in ways deemed not as "noble" is common) but still, its different from the more proper and affectionate media we see around jacques.

... That is not reflective of my Sense of Ethics, and I would never want to "torture" the Object of my veneration.

media consistently expresses his affection for jacques w/o jacques watching, first by talking about him positively in the radio, and now w/ this. i mean it was obvious he likes jacques ofc but it does point to his feelings being genuine instead of an act he only puts up around jacques

ofc varas answer does strongly imply that media might genuinely care for jacques bit that he still wants to torture him lol. i think the only mystery here is whether his thoughts of harming jacques r intrusive or a sadistic feeling he tries to surpress

the rest of their convo also shows vara and media r so interconnected they r practically "the same person" and interestingly they both refer to themselves as the creator of the other. probs related to the recursion theme that they simultaneously are each others creator and creation, and expands on their relationship from i1 where it looked more like vara was "only" a creation

(also, that reminds me too, i1 vara might be a "pure" vara w/o absorbed judges, and we can see how much more formal she is than anthony-vara)

hates it ! hates it so much . he wants to drag the gods from their heaven & snap their necks with his bare hands . the cycle is fated to happen due to the curse of the gods & he wants to see it broken . a few times he's taught about getting the triforce himself to shatter the cycle so that he can finally be free but so far has failed each time . i do have a small webcomic / fanfic idea where ray does make a whole plan to trap the three triforce bearers in a painted world so he can get the triforce & finally free the world but idk ! for his own destiny ... he isn't sure he has one ? he simply operates on what he is good at : fighting & killing .

moral code is ... difficult to pin down when ray's own ideals shift through the timeline . from the beginning up until OOT he is a die hard lover of hyrule & will do anything to protect it & its people . hurt no innocents . slay monsters & always uphold the rule of the royal family with pride . then the civil war begins to shatter his mindset of ' hyrule is good ' . he shakes it off but downfall , he loses it mind & hates the kingdom of hyrule & vows to destroy everything . child era he continues to keep his love for the kingdom but is growing tired of the cycle & begins to wonder if the kingdom will ever be happy but remains a loyalist . adult era is tricky . is a bit of a mix . he refuses to leave as the kingdom drowns but grows resentful of new hyrule ⸻ believing it to be a bastard version of the kingdom he loves . still a loyalist but a bitter one who spits in the face of progress. then BOTW happens & all timelines reconnect & ray has memories of all three eras & .... he has no more morals . he kills what he wants , joins the army just so he can fight & talks down to the royal crown when he can get away with it . truly a man with nothing left . beyond the cycle : he upholds honor in fights , refusing to fight someone not on even ground ( they must have a weapon , they cannot be hurt already as that's unfair to them , 1v1 is possible ) . through most timelines he doesnt hurt kids & tries his best to be kind to them . ( ww is on sight with link & tetra tho he gonna fuck 'em kids up ) & for the most part he doesn't break the law ... a lot . yeah he kills ppl but usually someone who deserves to die like an abuser or p/edo . last he tries not to eat people , opting for rats or wild animals .

o yeah he loves to gambling / card games & yells " YOU CHEATED " when he loses lol . bit of a sore loser unless he playing with kids then he'll grumble under his breath & reward the kid for winning . during fights he doesn't care so much about winning but it being a good battle that makes him feel something passionately for once in his life .

𝟏𝟏.  𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞  :  does your muse find it easy to be impartial in emotional situations ?

he isn't a very emotional person , outwardly anyway . he has feelings & that muddy decisions but as a general / captain / queen he is able to put his feelings aside to do that is best for the many over the few . some may see his choices to be heartless but he understands some situations require pain or bloodshed to protect the greater good . that being said .... he does lose his cool during the downfall timeline & attempts to bring back ganon himself in a fit of rage @ god . but that was after thousands of years of pain & suffering . so he got a big buffer of what bullshit you can toss at him before he loses it & makes rash choices .

𝟏𝟑.  𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡  : is there anything in your muse’s life that they should be letting go of ?

girl calm down about the cycle pls just live ur life . the anger he feels towards his father / maker . their relationship is backwards to him . a loving father turned into an abusive master when for lamatar , he learned from the horrible treatment he gave ayrin/ray during the ancient battle & tried to be the best father he could be -- unaware he fulfills the prophecy of ayrin becoming ray . ray blames him for everything bad in his life & that is only partially true ? lamatar loved him greatly but its ray who continues to throw himself at wars over & over again , reliving his trauma instead of allowing himself to heal & grow past it . not saying ray should forgive lamatar or invite him back into his life but to finally allow that wound to close .

𝟏𝟕.  𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫  :    what does your muse take inner comfort in knowing ? what guides your muse ?

great question !! i'm not sure he even knows what guides him ?? for a good part of the timeline where he is a loyalist he takes comfort in the fact he can help protect the people of hyrule . but has stated above that love dies as the timeline goes on ... beyond hyrule ray is simply the idea of ' survive ' . no matter what , ray will remain even when nothing else stands ... ray will be there . he does take comfort in his long list of past lovers . it reminds him that he is loveable even when he reject the idea he is something worthy of love . they remind him of better moments of his life , times when he was able to at least pretend to live a normal life where he got married ( & in some verses have kids ) . ray has a collection of items from these lovers that he keeps with him .

𝟐𝟏.  𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝  : is there one thing in life that your muse must accomplish ? what will they do when they complete that goal ?

Thats so funny because I only dont care for lesson 16 and the lessons around it because i felt the resolution was a bit rushed in terms of everyone just suddenly being lovey dovey with MC cuz theyre descended of lilith. I would love to hear your thoughts on this when you get the chance!

honestly i WISH i were apathetic about lesson 16... but as a person being apathetic about something is impossible (sadly... it would bring me so much more peace if i could just not care) and so i do have a lot of thoughts about lesson 16? like bestie you've just unlocked a long long rant that's gonna be hidden under the cut

because it is just sooo absurd to me that that was somehow the best idea that the writers came up with, and the execution ended being so rushed and poorly written that it managed to make so many people think that the brothers only love mc and/or only started being open with mc about how much they adore them because of the lilith reveal. it's very much not like that at all (i have arguments for every single one of them tbh) but the way lesson 16 was written + some of the handling of some of the brothers' relationship to mc before that definitely makes more than understandable to me that people would think so.

so like, firstly i think that yeah, the resolution is so rushed and weirdly written. i think at the end of lesson 16, belphie should not be so immediately buddy-buddy with mc and there should've been dialogue from ALL the brothers that they're glad that MC is fine and isn't actually dead. the mammon favoritism from the writers kills me here—levi and beel should've said something about being worried to death and i won't take any other opinion on it! they've been close to mc and have had pacts with them for much longer than asmo and satan!! i can't even agree that asmo and satan wouldn't have been concerned because they were definitely worried when mc was sent back in time (as shown in lesson 12), and that is just a few hours away from the events of lesson 16.

not to mention, just a few hours before (technically after, but never got the chance to happen in the new timeline) they were called family—there is just no way that none of them are greatly relieved that mc is fine (because those feelings are there even if they're never said), and it's not enough that they're showing it through coddling them during that stupid scene where diavolo drops that 'there must be so much they've wanted to do for lilith' line.

in fact that line is another major issue i have with lesson 16—why did the writers think it was a good idea have that said? it just adds more to the 'oh they only love mc bc they're related to lilith' thing, and in a game where y'know, the goal is to kiss and fuck these guys, it's very weird and off putting.

(inb4 someone brings up that mc wouldn't have any blood relation to lilith and the brothers + it's been millennia (probably; but parts of canon imply that it's been like, just 200 years ago) since then so it's fine. idk but my inclination to fuck someone who drop super low if i thought/knew they associate me with being related to their sister, and it's also a little weird if they're thinking of their sister when they're with me—which isn't the case at all because the brothers very much love you outside of your lilith relation, but the handling of lesson 16 really makes it seem like youre now someone to project their affections for their long dead sister on sdgjkg especially with belphie being the only one to openly say that he doesn't like you purely bc you're related to lilith and that weird scene where lucifer's reminded of holding hands with his sister while he's holding hands with you at a carnival? such a baffling thing to make him say, writers. whatever blush i'd have would immediately drain from my face.)

i also think it's a fault of the writers that there is very, very little clear romantic attraction from the brothers to mc before the revelation. as far as i know, only mammon's been anything transparent + there's hints from lucifer and satan in lesson 12; i personally wouldnt count the time everyone was stuck in an otome because theyre were obligated to do all that or else they wouldnt be leaving the game and it was clear that they're all just saying those words to literally get points. they all make fun of mammon for having a crush on mc which sends the message that none of them are interested. while there is a huge, huge timeskip of what's apparently 10 whole months between the end of lesson 18 and the start of lesson 19, the fact that we don't get to see that development of feelings makes it feel even more like the revelation had something to do with the rest of the brothers catching feelings :/

then there's like, all the other issues i have with lesson 16 which have honestly become inspiration for dola's vitriol towards diavolo. it makes it so that all the of the heartwarming moments that mc experiences with the brothers never happened. all those little one-on-ones with the brothers when mc come back to the HoL with beel after belphie's arrested? never happened. all of them working together to get lucifer out so they can actually talk? never happened. and neither did that talk where lucifer himself tells everyone what really happened to lilith or why he's so loyal to diavolo, or the moment where mc is called family? erased. lucifer proving to diavolo and all his brothers that he cares more about his family than his eternal obedience to the prince? absolutely did not happened and is replaced by diavolo rubbing it in lucifer's face that he shouldn't have ever doubted him in the first place or some shit during lesson 16.

it's why i think mc should be so much more upset than they were during lesson 16. i get that the writers wont do that because ~blank slate~ (not saying cant bc lbr they lock you into choices and emotions you dont agree with ALL the time) but it leaves a sour and bitter taste in my mouth that after losing all of that, mc is just okay with everything. everything returns to almost normal, and we're actually in charge of making sure it goes completely back to normal! we have to help belphie bond with his brothers again!! great.

most frustrating somehow, all the things i come up with in trying to justify why that stupid lesson played out like it did feels like copium lmaooo especially since it feels like there's not really any payoff to diavolo ensuring that the only reality that exists is one where lucifer never openly opposed him in front of his brothers >.>;; it's such a weird lesson with such a weird conclusion, and an aftermath that i sped through because i could not get into the idea of my mc being so willing to help belphie bond with his brothers again so fast. i think with all the magical bullshit that they can make the brothers and diavolo pull bc OM has no rules to their magic, they couldve easily had mc come back from their mission to report that te door opened with their touch. then through some magical ritual of some sort, they go and investigate and find that lilith's spirit is just there and was the final sibling that enabled the door to open, and then diavolo channels enough magic through some obscure spell or device to get her to talk to them and belphie or whatever—literally there's so many ways that that lesson could've gone.

instead we have like... whatever the fuck that lesson is and i hate it lol

it’s fun bc it gives an in-character reason to be a completionist, but from a writing perspective? while trying to keep things in line with how my actual gameplay goes? this belief is super reinforced over and over again. esp since there’s no real built in way to be useless. failure is technically an option, but my guy has been rather lucky on the major dice rolls. i suppose i could just throw up my hands and let his actual development come post-game. because i do have some ideas for that. but it’d be nice to have some development happen during the events of the game

…and this is getting a bit longer than i intended so…

maybe i could purposely fail a dice roll during a super important quest or something and see how he copes with the aftermath, but like. idk. he already accidentally destroyed the whole crèche, but that was less him being useless and still loved and more a ‘stop being a dipshit, think before you act’ moment. and it happened organically, which is nice. i don’t want to necessarily force anything, but at the same time, i’m almost gonna have to if i want some change to occur in the game timeline, right? put on my god pants and divinely intervene and all for the sake of character growth

i have this idea that maybe something happens late game where he’s out of commission for a while and needs to be taken care of by the squad. which he absolutely hates because he fully expects them to resent him for it and hate him and so forth, but no. he’s spent the whole journey taking care of them, now it’s their turns to have his back. but then idk how exactly to put him out of commission for a while in a way that doesn’t kill him or something because, d&d universe, magic healing, it’s not like they’d let him stay injured like that. especially since he’s at ‘exceptional’ with all the homies by the end. and also it can’t be something super long because, y’know, mother brain is trying to break free and all that…

or. oh. maybe they see him struggling. the weight of everything is finally to the point that he can no longer smile and wave off concern and redirect any such conversation convincingly. everyone collectively decides he needs a break, so they force him to sit this one out, lmao. and he’s fucking miserable, spending a good portion of the time thinking they’ve deemed him useless and it’s only a matter of time before they get rid of him completely. and it’s double bad, actually, because once he stops moving, The Anxiety asserts itself and The Thoughts start nagging at him and he starts to spiral even further. and instead of opening up, he sets off on his own to take care of a quest or whatever and ends up getting Fucked Up and he needs to be taken care of anyway, but this time with a nice side-helping of lovingly getting chewed out by his companions….

idk. maybe i’m looking in the wrong direction? or maybe i’m thinking too much about it. it’s not necessary to have a character arc to play the game. but, by gum, i fuckin wanna figure this shit out. as a writing brain exercise

Maxwell: I'm starting with him since he's kind of my age compass so to speak, but of course he's on the older end of the cast. I imagine he's somewhere in his 60s, but he could also be in his mid to late fifties in my minds eye. I personally tend to lean towards early 60s though, like 62 probably?

Wolfgang: having been a full adult (hopefully anyways gmdjdnsh) during our pre Maxwell being Maxwell era, we can assume he's also on the older end of the cast, but perhaps not quite as old, or maybe even older if you believe in yourself. I tend to view him as like 58, but he could rly range anywhere from 40s-60s to me, but technically speaking he rly could be younger, especially taking into account that we don't know when he entered the constant, as that evidently can functionally pause a characters aging with the outside world as seen with Wendy. I definitely wouldn't go below 30 though, he ain't that young

Wx-78: this fucker. This fucker. It all felt so clean after their rework animation, but noooo we had to have a notably young Wagstaff at an event that fucks with the timeline of everything, so now I. Wickerbottom: very clearly intended to be the eldest of the cast, I think it's safe to say she's like mid 60s at the absolute youngest. To me she's probably somewhere in her late 70s, but she could easily be much older. Tbh rn klei could pull anything out of their ass in regards to Wickerbottom they could say she's somehow 200 years old and we'd kind of just have to accept it as another unexplained fucked up Wickerbottom thing, they probably won't but itd be funny if they did. Just sequence of historical events with Wickerbottom standing in the background. She's like 79 idk.

Woodie: dude he could be like any age and I'd probably believe it. I personally tend to see him as late 30s, but I rly could see him ranging from late 20s to late 50s, and there's Nothing pointing in any specific age so idk. He can be 38 ig.

Mayyyybe early to mid 30s. Idk, I know she's an actress so having a successful career is more associated with younger age as opposed to older, but she's always given me big like. Star of a movie franchise that defines the first decade or so of her career in a way that sets her up for failure for the rest of it. Either way, I just cannot see her as being any younger than 30 personally.

Winona: now she's a bit of a tricky one. On the one hand, it should be easy to have a hc age for her since I have one for Charlie. On the other hand, I feel the need to think real hard abt what the age gap between the two is in my minds eye. It's hard because I can't in good faith go over 4 years, but I don't know how to narrow it from there. But with the 4 year limit, I think thatd put her in her late 30s early 40s ish in my hcs? i could take the easy way out and link you to some posts explaining this wacky gay story, but i have been rotating this in my mind constantly for the past three (THREE??? GOD .) months so i am not goign to do that (here and here they are if u want tho)

SO. The Otterverse is a semi-ongoing improv roleplay story that began as a funny little bit over on @lifesteal-headcanons and then somehow spiralled into....... all of this. ("all of this" including but not limited to; lesbians, hamilton quotes, tma references, more lesbians, ✨trauma✨, the apocalypse, even more gay people [everyone in this is queer in someway], tragic backstories and much, much more)

it is currently on its third and probably final (unless we do some spin-offs 👀) season. Season One (Aug 27ish to Sept 5ish) featured me as c!Felix, an immortal phoenix avian, Divorce Anon (aka Divorce and/or Divanon, played by @wallace-marte) a sort of human who kidnapped c!felix and was the antagonist of that season, and c!Paci (played by @pacificseaotter) an otter hybrid(?) and the resident cheater chaos creator. (there were other characters, but we were the main ones)

Season One was (IMO) the best one so far but I digress. It ended with death and grief and unhappy endings for the characters, as well as shock and general "wtf was that week of our lives man" from the actors.

Season Two came barely two days after the first one, and timeline-wise takes place about six months after the events of s1. I wasn't as involved with the beginning of s2, but the apocalypse Happened somehow. no idea How or Why but there's cosmic horrors goin to wendys and blood rain now. a day in the life ig .

I brought back c!felix for s2, and I think I was the only returning character? wisp (@wisp-exe) might've brought back theirs too idk. anyways, the cast basically tripled in size, mostly because of Captain "otterverse georg" @wlttebane playing a whopping 7 different characters. (shoutout to captain fr he slayed hard with that)

Wallace expanded its lore with three new characters, all connected back to Divanon. (Marri, Leon K [not shown] and Carmin). Mist (paci) created a new character, c!Otter.

Stickynote (played by @cats-thoughts) also joined, after making some absolutely banger fanart for s1 (also shoutout to cat its art is so sadfghjklkjh /vpos)

(and here is where you might want to read that first post i linked, as mist summed up this season more concisely than i ever could. zyr really amazing like that <3)

S2 ended in the same way as the first, with death, pain and destruction, a cruel imitation of the past. funny how that happens /silly.

...when xayah is purified, i wonder what showing back up at school after like... years ( timeline still fucks with me but the bio says years so ).  i’m sure most of the school thought she and rakan might have just.  moved?  and only a handful of the guardians know she and rakan were part of ahri’s team and died.  like lux never once mentions knowing xayah, rakan, and neeko’s names in the short stories so it’s clear that the newer guardians are a bit mixed on the knowledge.

i’m sure ahri’s new teammates are at least like.  semi aware.  maybe even knew xayah, rakan, and neeko before they vanished and the new ones joined ahri’s team ( even though syndra isn’t new?  or janna... so i’m sure they might know ).

....the timeline is forever going to haunt me.

anyways.  ignoring that i bet just.  xayah returning and not rakan ( and i’m assuming neeko came back even earlier ??? ) just.  sparks lots of stories.  and whispers and staring.  and it burns xayah’s guilt and hurt more.  and she so clearly is fighting that based off the super quick clips in the newest event teaser where she’s sitting alone in a classroom crying over one of his feathers...  and that really brief line from senna that implied sera and the other new new team are like?  kind of aware??  idk it’s phrased almost like they don’t know if xayah was actually corrupted or she just gives a weird vibe.

I havent watched scream iv yet maybe i shoulf now after this... also i was THINKING THE BOTH OF THEM (as in yeonjun and beomgyu) JUST WITNESSED YN AND TAEHYUN DO IT, WHILE THEY FIGHT TO SURVIVE BUT WHEN IT SAID THEY WERE KONCKED OUT I WAS RELIEVED. I WANNA KNOW IF YN LIVES OR NOT. jk no pressure i loved the ending it was GOOD AND I BELIEVE ITS GOOD CONSIDERING ITS HORROR/THRILLER . AS SOMEONE WHO LIKE THRILLER / HORROR ALOT THE ENDING SURELY DOES THE FIC JUSTICE BUT THO YN PLS I HOPE YOU SURVIVE. 🤭🤭🤭 i will say that i was indeed trying to mess with the readers a bit when i threw that yeonjun scene in… like i knew it didn’t make sense given how the timeline went but idk. i like sneaking in a silly plot twist ! (i think it’d be insane if i did make yeonjun the killer. like how tf would that have worked)

im sure you’ve probably seen them already, (😭) but i’ve provided things in other asks like a timeline and insight on certain aspects of the story (huening and yeji, the reveal scene) and even a small ramble on what i think happened after the story ended :3 

NOW THE BEOMGYU THING… ooooh…. while beomgyu wasn’t a target (which is discussed in the ask where i talk about what happens after the fic ends) i think it definitely would’ve added an interesting new aspect to taehyun and mc’s relationship… it really make me think and wonder haha

im gonna be honest, scream iv was…. not for me…! not bc it was too gory or scary or whatever (the sfx was actually kinda cool to see aklaghd) but idk… the story was just kinda on the eh side for me. but this is also coming from a bitch who had never seen any of the scream franchise movies so,,, take that as you will. (i literally watched videos about the scream timeline to get a better understanding of the franchise and the tropes LMAO) 

i willlllll say that ive gotten requests about wpag for my 2k event (good and bad endings) so you’ll definitely be seeing more of them in the future!! but im so happy to hear that you think i did the thriller/horror genre justice omg, i always get a bit nervous when writing fics like these 😭😭but thank you again for your feedback ! <3333
