[Oneshot] How To Pacify A Sith
Author’s Notes
Alt title: Angy Sith (Pureblood) Survival Class 101 /jk
I wrote this one like a couple months ago and then totally forgot to post it anywhere outside of discord oopsie! So here, have this! I wanted to try out “present tense” writing for this piece cause it’s not a style I often use, but if there are mistakes esp. with the verbs/adverbs, this is why and I apologise and will correct any mistakes as they are pointed out to me! XD
TMW a Force sensitive gets so mad that even Force-blind people around them can ✨feel it✨ and you know if you don’t de-escalate that shit right now it’s gonna end badly jsgdjkgdjkdg Good thing Koth knows his girlfriend well enough to talk her out of it tho! 💖
Obligatory disclaimer that Rai is very highly emotional in the first place to start with, even before we take the whole Umbara thing into account, and she’s even MORE emotional/defensive when it comes to her partners. She doesn’t mean the things she’s saying right now, she’s reacting (knee-jerk style), out of anger and fear and that’s the entire point of this oneshot. She does care about Theron as a friend and she would absolutely not say these things about/to him if she was thinking straight. She is not thinking straight. That’s 👏 the 👏 point. 👏 Saarai’s reaction to the whole Umbara situation are not a word for word representation of my opinion of Theron Shan as a character and should not be treated as such. I like him (as a friend for my characters), but he messed up here and now he’s gotta deal with the consequences of his actions. I shouldn’t have to say that but to avoid any potential dust-ups with that side of the fandom, I am doing so (and will not be putting this in the theron tag out of courtesy for theron fans, I will be tagging as “theron critical” just to avoid potentially upsetting any mutuals/friends who I know like the character and might have that tag blocked so pls use your own discretion if you choose to go on and read this anyway! 🤗 ❤️), I cannot believe that I have to specify this for some of you people but in the interest of saving my time and sanity here it is in clear black & white for you 🙄
CW: Spoilers for the Crisis on Umbara flashpoint, violence/death threats towards a pretty popular character in the fandom, and swear words below the cut. Do not read on if you might be sensitive to any of the themes/content mentioned in this warning. I am not liable if you ignore this warning and/or choose to not read it and click through anyway. Use your braincells and do not willingly expose yourself to triggers so you can start a fight with me, thank you <3
Everyone's staring.
...the Empress' muscles are wound tight as coils, ready to strike at a moment's notice. Her sulfur-yellow eyes are glowing, and fixed on the blast door that Koth and Lady Occulus are currently standing in front of, blocking the way. He takes another step towards the Pureblood and fights every instinct that tells him to turn tail and run away as she bares her fangs and snarls like an enraged tuk'ata. "Saarai-"
"Koth. Move!" she booms, it's an order, not a request. He stands firm, hands out, palms up. "I said MOVE!" there's an unnatural, almost ethereal echo to her voice, and even a Force-blind individual like Koth can feel the sheer power radiating off her in waves. She's dangerously close to going over the edge, and if it had been two years ago, when they had first met, maybe he would be afraid that she would. But not this time. He knows Saarai, he can get through to her. Lady Occulus does not share the pilot's optimism.
"Vortena." the Darth's voice is sharp-edged between worry and warning, and he knows she too is poised to lunge across the small gap separating them, to pull him back and take his place instead...because if anyone currently standing in that hallway has the physical strength to withstand the full brunt of a rampaging adult Pureblood hitting them with all the force of a Star Destroyer, it's Saarai's twin sister.
Koth freezes, turns his head to glance at the other Sith out of the corner of his eye and insists, firm but gentle. "I've got this." Occulus grunts and eyes him with trepidation, but doesn't move an inch....for now.
"I know you're mad." Okay, that's an understatement; she's raging, exuding enough "Pissed Off Homicidal Sith" energy that the whole damn corridor is crackling with it, with the Pureblood at the epicenter. His words earn him another deep, guttural growl: "I'm gonna gut that bastard!" "You're not. You said that about me last year on the Gravestone, and I'm still here." the pilot counters, taking another, bigger, stride forwards. Saarai's eyes zero in on him. Good. He's got her off the door, theoretically off Theron and onto him, and that's a start. Another step lands him right in front of the Empress, and when she stoops down closer to his height Koth chuckles internally. Even if Saarai thinks she's doing it to get in his face and be intimidating, she keeps making this so much easier for him.
Koth continues speaking slowly, using his words to distract Saarai from the movements his hands make at the same time. He carefully reaches up to cup her face in his palms, and ignores the panicked huff of breath from Occulus as the other Pureblood realises what he's trying to do, too.
Saarai won't hurt him. Koth knows that, and he wishes Occulus would acknowledge that because he knows that deep down she knows it too.
"Easy. Shhh-shhh, shh. It's me." He shushes her soothingly as the Empress flinches when his hands touch her skin, and for a moment he blinks, having forgotten just how hot it could get when she got into a state like this. Her spurs continue to rattle, but she doesn't rip herself from his grasp, or fling him away, though she does grind out through clenched teeth: "He hurt Lana-"
"I know, yeah." Koth croons in agreement. But they both knew their partner had survived far worse than a single blaster bolt to the stomach before. She'd be fine. Probably pissed to all hells at Theron too, but that was a problem for them to tackle together after Lana was allowed to leave the medbay. "And that's like the button, I know, honey...I know."
Someone shuffles nervously and Koth doesn't dare look back to find out who, but he has to pull her attention back to him before she gets distracted or this is going to go really wrong, really quick. "Hey, look at me. Don't look at them, Rai, look at me. Easy..." he exhales a quiet breath of relief as the glow emanating from her irises flickers, then starts to fade. "H-He could have killed her, killed Vano!"
"He didn't. He didn't. I'll take you to see her just now." Koth promises, and once he's sure she's calm enough not to bite his nose off, leans in to press his forehead to the Pureblood's. "I'm not exactly happy with the lunkhead, either. I'm gonna punch him in the nose for you, cause I can do it without rolling his head onto the floor." "Koth..." it's half a growl, this time, but the echo is dissipating, even if her face is still dour. He has to pay for this. "We'll deal with it. But you and I both know if you go in there and kill him now, you're gonna hate yourself for it later, love." the pilot whispers, finally lifting his head again as the Empress exhales a shuddering breath....
And keens in distress, deflating into his arms, and her rage with her. "That's it...easy, I've got you, I've got you..." "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." she keeps whimpering, over and over again.
The pilot drops with her, half staggering beneath her weight, but he refuses to let her go. He knows she needs him right now, and so he cradles her head against his chest as best he can in that position, running his fingers through her hair in a comforting motion. "I know. Its okay, Rai...I've gotcha. I'm right here, shhh shhh shhh~"
He hears everyone behind him breathe out, half in utter amazement and half in relief.
It’s over. He actually pulled it off.
"You. Are a madman." the Empress' twin grumbles at him as she approaches to help him support Saarai's weight more comfortably - damn, if this was going to be a regular thing he was so gonna have to work out more. "She could have killed you." The Zakuulan scoffs. If he didn't know better, he'd almost think it sounds like Occulus was trying to scold him. Had she been worried about him? "I told you. I've got this."

OT3 Chatter - Lana/Theron/Corrain
OKAY! I wanna talk relationship dynamics with my OC and his partners, because they ARE different when they're each paired off with him, though they're most effective at dealing with each others' (mostly Corrain's) issues as a trio.
Theron/Corrain
These two are very alike in a lot of ways - mostly in that they're both willing to push themselves too far and too hard to keep the people they care about safe. Thus, they're forced to recognize and deter this toxic trait in each other. They're also both pretty awkward when talking about their darker or more tender feelings, given their respective pasts - they both are much more inclined towards physical contact and cuddling rather than having a heart-to-heart. Corrain tends to go find Theron when he's upset and needs to calm down, and vice versa - they don't necessarily need to talk it out to just know that the other person needs someone to hold while the sadness or anger bleeds off. Even when they're just spending time together, they do a lot of sitting in silence, heads in each other's laps, not quite so much talking. Time together for them is equal amounts of quiet peace as it is laughter.
When they *do* get chatty, however, they're both liable to get competitive with each other. Of the three of them, these two are the most likely to get up to stupid crap like drinking games or strip sabacc, and they definitely trade banter over Missions Gone Wrong in their downtime. Sarcasm is their first language, and they're both masters of it. Date nights are either movie-night types, or they end with one or both of them pretty close to wasted - there's not really an in-between.
Theron and Corrain give each other a safe, comfortable space to both decompress and act a little stupid, bottom line. Their shared love language is Quality Time, for sure, with Physical Affection being a close second.
Lana/Corrain (And Lana/Theron, to some extent)
These two are a classic case of "opposites attract" in the best possible way. As one who actively knows that keeping oneself in top form is the sensible thing to do, Lana is overly aware of when Corrain works too hard or blames himself for things outside his control, and she has- on more than one occasion- dragged him off to take a nap. She doesn't let him lie to himself, even when the truth hurts, and though she's tactful, she also doesn't hesitate to challenge him and his methods of thinking, helping him to pick apart the knots of fear and anger when they come and break them down into more manageable chunks. They can both be completely honest with each other without fear of the other taking insult or offense, and even if they both do occasionally fall victim to a surge of indignant righteousness during debates, it's always temporary.
Their blunt honesty with each other is the cornerstone of their relationship, but it doesn't just extend to Corrain's issues with bottling things up - it also includes when Lana's realism starts to turn into pessimism. Corrain has on more than one occasion deliberately distracted Lana - often enlisting Theron's aid - when she starts to brood too much, and after she's been successfully pulled out of her funk, he's there to talk through her anxieties and act as a soundboard.
When they're not actively wrangling each other's brains, Lana and Corrain tend to actively do things together - they enjoy regular spars and trying to cook together, as well as exploring new places, wild or urban. Their shared love language is Words of Affirmation, followed by Quality Time.
Lana/Theron
A lot of what is said about Lana and Corrain's relationship also applies to Lana and Theron - blunt honesty and nearly-constant challenges of belief are the hallmarks of their relationship, with one looming caveat - they've also got something of a friendly rivalry going on. Given that they've both done extensive intelligence work, they're constantly competing playfully regarding work and effectiveness, and they regularly trade banter across the holotable. However, while they banter a lot at work, domestically speaking they're remarkably in sync, both of them tag-teaming Corrain into a decent bedtime and arguing over who's doing the dishes because "you did them last time it's MY turn - i know you wanted to watch that holonovela." It's important to the both of them that - despite being in different worlds for most of their lives - they both work as a team and know that their efforts are extremely appreciated. Their shared love language is Acts of Service, followed by Words of Affirmation.
Lana/Theron/Corrain
It's as a group, however, that they're most balanced. Lana challenges them both intellectually and emotionally, but she's also the one that keeps them all honest, with themselves and each other. Theron's not at all apt at solving emotional challenges, but he *is* very good at being the one that draws out Lana and Corrain's sense of friendly competition, and manages to keep them all in good spirits, teasing them both until they laugh. And Corrain keeps them both centered, acting as a sounding board or a comfortable pillow while they work through their issues, his singleminded drive to *accomplish the thing the right way* in turn drives their motivation as well.
Their favorite dates when it's the three of them usually involve a picnic somewhere in a quiet place, or visit to the cantina so they can all play a few rounds of sabacc with the losers owing something later on in the evening (>:3c). Their collective love language is Quality Time

Modern adaptations of the Addams Family don’t seem to get the family dynamic that we associate with the Addams right anymore.  Made a TikTok recently about some of the issues I had with Wednesday (overall an okay show, doesn’t really do anything new for the genre, but entertaining enough). My #1 criticism is that it, much like the recent animated films, it puts Wendesday in conflict with Morticia. When I pointed this out, I was met with a chorus of “of course, she’s a teenage girl it’s natural” and “every family has conflict”. That is, in fact, the point.
The Addams Family is the antithesis of the “normal” sitcom family. Parents that love and support their children no matter what. Children that, in turn, respect their parents because their parents respect them. Their weirdness doesn’t come from the fact that they’re goth so much as the fact that they’re functional when dysfunction is seen as the norm. Other pushback I’ve seen is that it’s based on the comics, not previous adaptations, so we can’t judge it by those. Cool, but Jenna’s Wednesday is based on Christina Ricci’s. Catherine Zeta Jones’ Morticia pulls from Anjelica Huston’s and Charlize Theron’s voice work. Fred Armisen’s Fester carries over elements of Jackie Coogan’s. (Which is also why everyone is comparing Luis Guzman’s Gomez, which feels like the most original take on the character, to previous performances). Whether we like it or not, it builds upon every previous adaptation, and by significantly including the other family members, the show opens itself up to comparison. In a show where they could’ve gotten away with anything, subverted any trope in any way they’d like, they chose to play by the book. That’s what’s disappointing about it. Anyway, Jenna Ortega killed it, though.

The amount of crazy microassgresions Sofia or Gina have received from some publications are wild. Acting like she isn’t a talented woman on her own that has been working on successful Disney shows for years, had a #1 Netflix movie and acted with the likes of Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron. Owns her own production company. Her acting abilities have constantly raised the bar for this show each season and in this one she especially deserves her flowers.
A lot of Nini stans (that are often just Olivia stans that can’t separate actor from character) have also been engaged in crazy wild micro aggressions that gets passed around as “criticism” for the show and the insinuation is that Sofia isn’t capable of being leading lady.
And not just disrespect to Sofia as a whole but the cast that is incredible vital and excellent in what they do. Trying to downplay the likes of Julia Lester who’s a whole Tony nominated actress/performer. And just overall the vocals of people such as Dara Reneé, Joshua, Adrian, Frankie Rodriguez, and the list goes on. Trying to claim the “new characters” are not like the others when said characters brought a lot more representation to the table not just as Asian/Black characters but finally a canon sapphic character with a full blown romance with one of the mains. A lot of you are incredible nasty in the name of “nostalgia” that you don’t even realize how silly and weird you all sound.

It's really still bizarre to me that players didn't get that Theron was going undercover. It was not only blatantly obvious to an outside observer, it really should have been obvious to the Outlander and anyone internally with a lick of sense that knew the man.
He still shouldn't have done it. It was manipulative to his friends and allies. And possibly lover. But that's a separate criticism.
Which makes it even more perplexing that they appeared to give Lana the stupid ball. She accepts him back with little issue, so I suppose I can pretend that she was going along with it?
Bleh.
