it's a dark, cold night. the sun set around three hours ago, so it's getting to be pretty late into the night.

you walk down the street clutching your jacket closer to your body, shoulders pulled nearly up to your ears.

that's when you hear footsteps behind you.

the first thing that's odd about this is the fact that this is a route you take home often, and you've literally never run into anyone at this time of night due to the roads all being side streets.

as a normally anxious person, you think of what you've been taught to do in this situation- the most common trick. you take three right turns in a row, not getting lost since you know the roads well. however, even as you come back to where you first heard the footsteps behind you, you can still hear them, and they sound as if they're coming closer.

you panic at this point, speeding up until you're nearly running. the footsteps become faster and louder to match your pace.

you make a sharp turn into a convenience store, but the man follows you inside. noticing the cashier looks like a teen who would likely not be of much help, you settle for heading towards the tall guy in the back near the drinks.

as you get near him, you grab his sleeve, effectively startling him. "did you wait for a long time?" he looks extremely confused. you have to lean up on your toes as much as possible to get closer to his ear because he's so much taller than you. you do so and explain the situation in a whisper as the man walks into the aisle behind you.

he quickly looks concerned and holds your hand, seeming to realize he should play along. "i didn't wait long at all, pretty."

you smile up at him, eternally grateful. you think to yourself that you owe him severely if you ever meet again.

"do you want something to drink?" he asks, seeming to really get into the boyfriend role. still holding your hand tightly, he steps back and gestures to the fridge area for you to pick.

"you don't have to do that, babe," you say, blushing a bit.

"no, no, go ahead. you should really drink something," he insists. "you've been walking for a while, you must be thirsty."

you tilt your head, not sure if he's serious or just playing the role well. he nods his head. you pick out a drink you like and he takes it from your hand and picks out his own drink as well. he walks towards the front of the store still holding your hand.

he looks back at the man who was following you to find him already staring, but he doesn't make any move to come closer to the two of you.

after the nice guy checks out, you both walk out of the store.

"would you like me to walk you home?" he asks. "just to be safe."

you contemplate for a moment before nodding. "i live near here, so it's not that far of a walk. thank you so much for this- and the drink, too."

you both begin to walk in the direction of your house, still hand-in-hand.

"of course," he smiles sweetly. "i hate how careful ladies have to be walking around nowadays... it's crazy that something bad could happen to you even in your own neighborhood."

you huff. "tell me about it. i've only been followed like this a few times, but i hear it happens to a lot of girls my age."

he sighs. "it's ridiculous. oh, i'm jo, by the way."

you smile up at him. "i like that name. i'm ____."

"pretty name for a pretty girl," he cheeses.

you cringe, giggling. "thanks for the compliment, but that was so corny."

he laughs. "i know- i realized after i said it."

you talk and laugh the whole way home, up until you get to your house. you didn't even mean to let him walk you the whole way home, you would've stopped him at the start of your street, but you kind of lost track, being so distracted.

"well, this is it." you turn towards him, finally letting go of his hand. "again, thank you so much. i don't know what i would have done if you hadn't helped me."

he smiles shyly, his face flushed. "no problem. could i maybe get your number? you can text or call me next time something like this happens. i live just down the street, so i'll come running."

you blush, taking his phone to add yourself as a contact. "you're really cute. maybe we could just hang out sometime, no creepy man involved?"

he chuckles. "yeah- that'd be nice."

you say your goodbyes. he watches until you get to your door to make sure you make it inside okay before you see him leave through your window.

you blush as you think of the whole interaction again.

its so cliche to say mahiru i think but truly- mahiru. theyve got such a playful relationship and the way mahiru talks so sweetly to/about kotoko makes my heart melt.

and ive been thinking a lot more about her with shidou... they dont directly interact, but theyre fun to think about... shidou "im left to clean up the aftermath of your actions" vs kotoko "i dont care if youve been overly-forgiven by the warden, i will not let you get in the way of justice" also... 5 + 10? what is your theory for their crime? if there is general consensus on it in the fandom, do you have any other, not-so-widely-accepted thoughts on it?

i feel like kotokos crime is pretty straight forward: vigilante justice carried out as vigilante justice usually is; poorly and with grave consequence

and hm... my thoughts on it.. well, i definitely dont think vigilante justice is good, ever. one person should never be judge, jury, and executioner. but with kotoko... i want to know more about WHY she is driven towards vigilante justice.. what has driven her so far to the point where she is willing to burn all her bridges, distance herself from others, spend her hard-earned money and drop out of school for the chance to kill someone she deems to be a bad person- even though she risks going to prison after the first time she ever draws blood? why is she risking so much, for so little?

12. what do you wish would be discussed more often about them in the fandom?

god. anything and everything. kotoko is very widely ignored by fans unless they are interested in her, specifically. and it sucks! she is such a weird character, but such a good character. you say you dont care about others, yet you claim you want to protect the weak, but if they get in your way regardless you will crush them. what drives you? what happened to you to make you think like this? why are you so back-and-forth?? i also want to see more people talk about how she potentially has DID, its one of my favorite theories. i want to see more discussion on the wolf-theming, and why her headspace seems to be a barren desert. i want people to talk about how, even if she does terrible things- she is not beyond saving, there is a kind and gentle heart hidden away under her layers of fear and trauma.

but i do wanna ask a few questions to the audience, and let you all take a moment to stew on her character before deep cover...

LMAO. i think she went through a majorly traumatic event as a child, and she's largely blocked it out of her memory, but it still drives her actions today. i wont go into detail on it now, because i fear it would be very very triggering for others (and deserves its own, carefully-written post), but i believe her past may consist of the following: child abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking

edit: as for her teenage years, i think this is when she really started to self-isolate. she probably didnt have many friends to begin with, and pushed the remaining ones away at this point. she probably dove head-first into her vigilante research first, and her studies second, and everything else beyond that was just noise to her

FIRST OF IM VERY EXCITED AND ALSO I DIDNT EXPECT A KAITO APPEARANCE

Maybe it’ll have something to do with either

1. Wanting to be human/normal again?

2. Maybe something about what he gave up for his wish/pact

3. His debt with Romeo? (Even though Luca paid for most of it)

Any predictions or hopes for this ep?

Kaito? My silly boy? I suppose I should have expected him to appear given that he is debt to Romeo and while I am glad to see him again... if anything happens to him we will have to blow the whole school up. agreed? agreed.

I think it probably has to do with his debt more than anything, his homescreen lines imply that he's always hard up for cash and not very good at managing his impulse buys, though a lot of it just seems to be from a want to do normal things with friends. He seems genuinely quite lonely. I won't rule out that it has something to do with wanting to be human again, but I think we'll find that a lot of general admission students have been going missing too and they're already human. So the likely answer is just money.

Predictions/Hopes:

We get involved to save Peekaboo because Taiga kidnapped him, probably as collateral for a debt Haru has. If anything happens to him we should be allowed to help Towa destroy their dorm.

Taiga doesn't remember shooting us in the prologue and probably doesn't care too much about it. I'm not too sure what to make of him but his intro line asking if we think he could have done anything different makes me think he could be a bit sweet on MC. Maybe. Sort of. Like eventually. I just hope he's a different flavor of hater than Leo and if I could be truly selfish I would want to see them fight. He gives big "kidnapped by the mafia" energy and as someone who never has touched or wrote any of those fics, I am prepared to enter my watpad era for you guys. I'll just probably start with Floyd because I have been having thoughts.

Tohma will continue being a sneaky slut. Does he have any connections in Sinostra? Does he want them? He mentions a spy in Book 2 and I feel in my spine that he might be suspicious of Haku. I certainly am, his intentions towards the school seem like they could be less than pure, even if he does seem to like MC.

Luca will be acting a fool if Kaito goes missing because protecting his people is important to him, but Jin won't let him do anything.

Leo will continue to cause problems on purpose and it will further strain his relationship with Sho. It will have something to do with Subaru and Hotarubi, possibly as a set up for the fifth book which will probably be about their dorm.

There seems to be a trend of MC's friends from the previous book having some stuff to say and this might be pure fucking crack but does anyone else get the sense that Taiga and Haru could be related? They've got different last names but are both bad with money and the same genre of ginger. Also don't think I've forgotten that Haru was a transfer to Jabberwock, I've got a slight suspicion that transfer was from Sinostra.

While I am doing lines, Obscuary, the dorm that's missing it's other characters right, I think the janitor we and Haru interact with is their dorm leader because he kind of looks like the guy facing away from the camera in the loading screen. Why he's working as a janitor and not wearing his uniform? No clue but Rui does have a line about taking out trash in on of his random campus encounters but again. This is pure speculation on my part. I do think he'll show up again in this book though. Maybe he's another one of Tohma's boy toys idk

one of my favorite details about liam is the fact that he is very nice!!!! but he does NOT seem to get manners

his whole motive thruout season 2 is that he wants to save the others. from the looks of it, he doesnt CARE about the revenge part that much. like yeah itd be nice to stop the guy that physically harmed and killed you bc he did that, but thats an afterthought really - and i didnt interpret liam trying to kill airy even as an attempt at revenge so much as an extremely irrational and extremely stress-induced method of trying to make sure his friend + the others DIDNT get sent to the plane. his main priority is repeatedly that he wants to stop this from happening to anyone else. the only time he mentions himself is when saying that he 'cant live the rest of his life not knowing WHY this happened' (thats paraphrased) but that is immediately followed up w concern for this happening to other people

ofc, he also thinks he literally Has Nothing so the lengths he goes to to save the others CAN be interpretted as not things he would do if he thought he could go back to normal but at that point, thats just extremely specific speculation and i dont think thats supposed to be whats conveyed. some situations wouldnt even be necessarily related to him not having anything, so much as related to helping the others. he still throws himself into everything after "remembering what its like to have a life again." even when he realizes that he doesnt HAVE to have lost everything, he still cared and wanted to help the others more

i think he wanted closure, yeah, but he really did want to save the others. the scene of him helping julien is there for a narrative reason, after all (though i dont wanna get into that bc id go on a tangent about narrative choices in ONE). hell, hes the only one to try to get charlie out of the way of the stakes! (not that the others didnt try, but i feel like the intended take-away of liams general nature is fairly clear)

anyway, liam is nice!! he cares a lot abt others and doesnt want bad things to happen to them, and hes ok with bad things happening to him if it can help them.

but he does NOT understand a lot of social etiquette, or the concept of being polite.

my favorite example of this is the whole discussion abt going to go see bradley. when the restaurant gets shut down, liams first thought is to go 'sooooo. you dont have work, right?' when liam realizes he cant pay for the laptop, he just kinda. 'i dont have any money.' and stares at bryce like a cat looking at your plate of sandwich meat, waiting for you to inevitably give them some

this isnt even ONLY after the 7 months, theres hints of this trait before then! when amelia is talking abt stone making her team when the challenge, he just goes 'yeah sorry.' then talks abt how texty won their teams challenge, pointedly when texty is RIGHT there. liam doesnt even say goodnight back to owen! (this ones less impolite than the others but i think its silly to include)

it should be noted tho, that while this ISNT present before and after the plane, it DOES show up more prominently afterwards, and this could very much be the stress! but looking at WHY its more prominent afterwards also feels like it points more towards this just being How He Is.

all of the things hes kinda impolite abt? are things where he is TRYING to be nice, or arent unkind inherently. hes going to talk to bradley? well, doesnt bryce want to come? driving him there is more efficient anyway. oh you have work? well now you dont! so now things are easier! staying here isnt gonna make the restaurant reopen anyway! (liam also probably does NOT have the same weight associated w jobs that bryce does, since liam hasnt had a job in a capitalist society in 7 months. its probably still subconsciously there, but not at the forefront when the plane is still out there). i crashed your car? well, i think the lives of others matters a little more. you can get a new car, but if something happens to airys contestants WHO KNOWS whatll happen to them

a lot of it, i think, is made more extreme by stress and trauma, yeah, but these are patterns in logic that seem to already discard manners as being that relevant. and i, autistic, chose to view that as something hes just Like. hes not a dick and he doesnt ever mean to be! but also if someone can do something fairly minor to do something more important, why does he NEED to be polite abt it?? whats the POINT you get the same message across! and thats assuming he even REALIZES these things are "impolite," based on a lot of his interactions w vryce, i legitimately dont think he realizes how he acts could sometimes be considered 'impolite'

where bryce is knowingly kind of rude sometimes and doesnt care (though is STILL kind, he is just more blunt and uninterested in sounding nice, which i could do an entirely different essay on the autism of), liam seems to not really notice manners, nor does he think theyre very important to consider, and i just. really love that about his character :)

this is the kind of guy that, if you stubbed ur toe, hed probably not say 'oohh, sorry :(' and hed just be 'dang, that sucks' and move on

I just wanted to share that I relate with you, a few years ago I posted that I really hated Sonic Forces, bad game bad story and everything, I then ended up getting someone who send me numerous messages on how wrong I was, I ignored them but they kept going, then they made fun of the way I drew Sonic and I suddenly a week later I got messages on my personal blog mocking me for my post regarding depression thoughts, thinking about suicide and missing my cat who passed away . That really hurt, not helping them was that they constantly told me I drew Sonic out of character, a hobby that helped me cope with my feelings, all this beause I didnt like Forces. I just disabled anon messages for six months. When this year I expressed mild dissapointed with Frontiers gameplay but that I still like the game, I got 4 messages on how wrong I was. I dont get this with the Pokémon fans. It just makes me think there is something fundamentally wrong with the Sonic fanbase.

Jesus. You shouldn't have received that kind of treatment for posting opinions online, and this is coming from someone who leans more towards neutrality on Forces.

It's also funny, not "ha ha" funny, but in an ironic way, as a contrast to our experiences, because once people caught onto the fact that a few of us didn't think the game was utter dogshit and it does have a few good points, they proceeded to double down on their cries of "Pontaff apologist." Apparently saying "No, Forces is not the equivalent of '06" is enough to get people on your ass, but it also seems disliking it garners you harassment.

Plus, they were all too happy to dismiss Frontiers criticism as "you just hate Flynn and are using this an excuse to bash him again and not give him a chance" because Flynn Haters must never have independent thoughts, their hatred of him is just a mindless reflex. They implied this, even though some of us stressed repeatedly that Flynn's involvement ranked pretty low on the reasons we just didn't like the game.

What does that tell you about how mercurial the environment is? At this point I can't imagine being a part of the in-group, how stressful it would be to keep biting my tongue, stifling my real thoughts, just because at any moment someone could arbitrarily decide they don't like my face that day and proceed to use my "shitty opinions" as an excuse to fling abuse at me. If one of my friends says "I don't like SA2, it's overrated and the story sucks," the most I get is annoyed for a while. Then I move on. It's not something I hold against them because ultimately their opinion doesn't have to affect mine.

Somehow, though, this fandom acts like you have to hold the Correct Opinions or else, which just makes you wonder at the insecurity underpinning everything. If they really believed what they believed, they wouldn't have to resort to these tactics. If we're "desperate," as they often say, they're insecure.

It just makes me think there is something fundamentally wrong with the Sonic fanbase.

There is. I can't exactly pinpoint one cause because it seems to be a melting pot of interrelated issues. It's like a pressure cooker of conformity borne of the desperation not to be seen as cringe by the mainstream - hence all the diatribes about "you guys are making the rest of us look bad," like, who are you performing fandom for? why are you performing fandom? - with anti-games bias stemming from that since the games aren't considered as "deep" as the comics. Unlike the book which improves them, the games are childish, and we wouldn't want to be seen as childish, taking something as inconsistent and puerile like Sonic games too seriously.

Then you add a dose of purity culture, the intense focus on parasocial relationships with ascended fans (I find IDW staff's conduct unprofessional and really skirting the line wrt its fandom), and outright abuse apologism (the stuff with Emi Jones is sickening), and the mixture becomes toxic.

Nathan: I think hes bisexual (but hides it), is deeply emotional, likes and is kind to children but doesnt want any of his own (hopes someone else will have kids he can dote on), the only instrument he plays is piano (but not super well), is straight up the only one here who is actually A Goth, is deeply deeply insecure, has accidentally become a 'can only solve problems with threats' type due to that being how he dealt with bullying. Also he has ALWAYS had vaguelly prophetic dreams since childhood, but cant tell them apart from regular ones and cant always tell if they are good or bad, so he only sometimes does what they say

Skwisgaar: i made a long post about this previously but he has complete dylexia and due to his intense anxiety and his moms general belittling of mistakes he actually is WAY worse at english than it seems like he is and he sort of just muddles through and pretends. His english is much worse when hes thinking about it, which the others noticed, which is why they rarely correct anything he says because hell go silent for 3 days. Also hes bisexual (openly before being in Dethklok) and yes he IS some kind of god child but he probably WASNT appointed for the soul purpose of making babies Toki: not stupid! not 'mind of a child'. Just immature. I headcanon that he was not of-age when he joined Dethklok and someone in Dethklok (i havent decided who is funniest yet) had to legally adopt him to keep him in the country and they kinda forgot. He only hit 21 in season 1 and while he HAD been drinking before that he really started going overboard after it got easier. Also, skwisgaar taught him english (hence same pluralization quirk) but hes now much better at it. Despite his comments about 'superior scandinavian education' he didnt actually go to school and didnt learn to read or write until he was older, but hes very good with computer codes and math. ALSO his parents arent his real parents, he was thought to be a demon child born to a member of the flock with no husband and was adopted to be 'fixed' but ended up just goign towards demonic things since he thinks hes a demon. Is it true? idk. Murderface: Gay but also in-universe many many many many people are attracted to him. Hot people. Movie stars. gay men especially. Refuses to admit hes gay because it feels like 'giving in' to a thing that everyones always said about him. He is NOT Mollys son, actually, hes Calverts from a mistress which is why his mom hates him so much (also why his dad said he belonged in a 'garbage can', hes referencing that he wishes pickles mom had an abortion). yes of COURSE hes in love with nathan, he just like assumes its not possible and 99% of the time is okay with that. Ofdenson: for some reason i had a misunderstanding for many years that he had ALWAYS been part of the church of the black klok and so even now that i know its not true, i still prefer it. To me, this is why he is so fucking negligent-- in some way the klokateers and audiences must be a blood sacrifice for the apocalypse (or potentially to stave it off? unclear). Additionally he is largely responsible for the entire 'look' of the enterprise. I simply dont believe that half the shit in mordland were ever seen by dethklok or could even possibly have been conceived of by them, let alone asked for. My headcanon is he is the one that started the entire 'branding of the gears' thing and is responsible for the brainwashing (this i think has canon support at least)

the thing that's actually really fascinating abt prev reblog is the people in the notes saying they use both versions (that is, both 'on accident' and 'by accident') but feel the two have slightly different, not registers (which people are also saying and which one might expect—the established 'by' being seen as more formal, and the up-and-coming 'on' more casual), but shades of meaning?

most commonly, speakers seem to be outlining a distinction that's roughly describable as passive vs active: 'something happens by accident' vs 'someone does something on accident.' which is so totally foreign to me, and so neat! love that this shift away from hegemonic usage is also a shift towards greater nuance!

To my ear (native speaker, US, I would have been right on the threshold of your two age groups when you did your interviews), both are correct, but "on accident" is the only formally correct way and the only one I'd use in an essay, and "by accident" is correct in conversational English. But the two have very slightly different meanings. "On accident" is agentless, the thing just sort of happened, no one made it happen, it happened on accident. "By accident" has an agent, I was trying to do something else but I screwed up and I did this by accident. "On accident" emphasizes that the thing itself is the accident. tbh its a bit weird seeing noah tweet about byler, but at the same time i think this is just so more ppl notice something else than their pressumed heteronormative romances in the show- like if theyre now mentioning it more in interviews, behind the scenes, tweets, etc, its to bring attention that theres something that maybe ppl missed if they didnt look for it.

If it was baiting i feel it would cast very bad light on netflix afterwards, especially since they were losing ppl interested in their streaming service this year and want to bring more ppl back rather than to make them more upset.

Also netflix just made heartstopper, which i think is doing pretty successfully? With the writing i agree, im worried it could be a let down, but something just makes me wanna keep that hope that it could be heading towards byler endgame, and will being more relevant to the plot again, bc it all began with will, and it seems the duffer brothers at least had an overall plan for the rough story from the beginning. Which is rare in this time of mediocre m*rvel movies where noone knows where its headed.

I dont have a link from the geekedweek vid from yesterday, but thw duffer brothers talked there about how even tho they has a plan for the story, theyre not opposed to changing it depending on actors or cast and crew, and developing what feels right for characters.

Which i like to hear, bc if they listen to what someone can say if they know more about the character, (like maya with robin being a lesbian, or letting steve become good guy leading role instead of killing him off), theres a chance we could get a satisfying ending which characters like will and mike deserve, especially since theres really been all these hints from the beginning. 🤞💖

What’s your opinion on that? I personally don’t know if I’m sold on this theory entirely but I really wanted to hear your thoughts on it as I find them and this unfinished plot point fascinating. I think there could be something there about the strained relationship between the brothers but from what I remember I don’t think it’s touched upon in the game itself?

i think it's an interesting theory but i think it's just that: a theory. until we have anything more to go on wrt the gavin brothers it's pure speculation. although it's obvious that kristoph cares a lot about his image/presentation, i don't think it's automatically tracks to translate that into an inferiority complex specifically regarding klavier as his motives. this person is assuming kristophs motives and then working backwards to interpret events through that lens and it's not a bad interpretation by any means but it doesn't fully make sense. especially because it's relying on the DD explanation for black psyche locks, which, as mentioned, i take with a grain of salt

some points of contention with this theory to me:

klavier seems to be to some degree under kristoph's thumb or subject to his will, as evidenced by the 'you're out of control' 'whose control? mine? or yours?' back and forth. this isnt mutually exclusive with kristoph having an inferiority complex regarding him but it does, to me, suggest that kristoph has enough influence over klavier at present time that he has means of gaining ground on klavier that don't center around the gramarye case.

following from that, nothing about killing zak gramarye does anything to raise kristoph's status or lower klavier's. if his clout and reputation were the ultimate concern here. we could say that he just sort of snapped and his temper got the better of him, yeah, but it still doesn't quite track for me

on a similar note, klavier has been out of the legal world for the past 7 years focusing on his band. he hasnt been doing any cases. his reputation is primarily as a musician, with his legal career coming secondary. if kristoph wanted the trial to be a blemish on klavier's career, that happened. it didnt elevate his own status but it got klavier out of the picture in court. meanwhile kristoph's reputation as a defense attorney continued to grow, and he maintained a position on the bar association. i can't imagine kristoph feeling super jealous of klavier's success as a musician and it seems that in terms of actual level acclaim kristoph is winning.

did kristoph try and win the gramarye trial specifically to fuck over klavier, or because he knew he could fuck over klavier? was klavier the victim, or was he a tool in this process? its entirely possible that the trial was not about klavier even a little bit and klavier's presence as the prosecutor was just a measure of security against kristoph's grift being found out.

kristoph seems to have just. more going on with him in general. he seems to have some connections to the criminal element given that he was able to identify a forger, shell out 6 figures for a forgery, and get his hands on some presumably extremely illegal and extremely potent poison. the man seems to be involved in a criminal element completely outside of the context of his relationship with his brother

and on a more meta level, it is really just too simple. that's not the kind of mystery shu takumi writes. if you look at his body of work you can see an increasing level of - and i say this with love - convoluted nonsense begin to weave its way into the storytelling. his work and character backstories get increasingly more complex and twisty as he writes more stories. compare the kind of stuff happening in the DGS duology to the stuff happening in the trilogy. the thing he worked on closest to AA4 was ghost trick, which has a Lot happening in it. although an easy explanation may make sense i can not in any sincerity believe it was what was intended.

the kristoph stuff is so uniquely frustrating to me because there is exactly enough there for me to be incredibly interested in it but not nearly enough there for me to even begin to guess where it was going. so pretty much no fan theory will ever be able to satisfy me.

I'm going to say things bc that's how I cope.

As a person who thinks that if you're going to do something you should do it right, I can't help it, it bothered me how sloppy this season felt. Of course I fully blame HBO and their cheapness, but it stills bothers me. Not only we got two episodes less than s1, but the 8 we got were shorter, and you can tell. I also blame the budget cuts for the constant yet unnecessary flashbacks, and the weird editing, and the anticlimatic pace. In any case, I want to highlight the things I did like, because I fucking love this show and Im sure that after a rewatch or two I'll be less angry, so let's stay positive:

Since it seems they were having trouble to get the complete cast together in one plot, I do love they kinda let them have their spotlight one by one. Like, Frenchie in the first episodes, Wee John as Calypso, Lucius with his PTSD in ep5... It's not the same as s1, but it's something.

I've seen people complaining about this, but Im happy they didnt invest too much time on the forgiving process. I like it better when everyone gets along fine, and in the end they're pirates and they never seemed to be the kind of people who hold grudges, so yeah lets skip to the nice part.

I did like a lot what they did with Izzy. I don't care if it happened too quick or what, I used to feel indiference towards him and this season I actually enjoy his scenes a lot. I still dont know how I feel about his death tho. It bothered me a little that the whole scene was more about Ed than Izzy himself, but in the end I always saw Izzy as a narrative tool in Ed's arc more than as a character of his own, so I guess it makes sense.

Super happy with the music choices, and also the new outfits.

Really, the first five episodes were absolutely brilliant.

It made me so happy they got Bronson Pinchot as Ned Low.

Huge fan of Zheng Yi Sao and Auntie.

Im so fucking furious at Taika Waititi for his pro-Israel shit that seeing Pop Pop attacking him gave me some sort of inner peace.

Now, things I wished had been done differently: - There were a lot of paralelisms with s1, which is good, but I'd like they brought back more actual elements of s1 into play. Like, the lighthouse painting, the secret wardrobe, the pink robe, a third Badmington (he would have work better as big bad than this prince ricky guy I dont really care about?). Frenchie singing again. This oneis a reach, but I would love to have Mary Bonnet back. And I was really hoping they play with the fact that Stede is "dead". The guy doesnt even mention the Master Fuckery from ep10.

-On that note, I was a little dissapointed on Jim's arc. I was never that invested on them or their plot in s1, but it feels weird how this season it seems like none of that even happened. Even Jim felt like a different character. I feel it would worked better if some of the conflict was related to Siete Gallos stuff, so at least it would feel all of that subplot wasnt a waste of time.

-Little missing opportunities of making me happy: Anne Bonny and Mary Read mentioning Jack (to insult him, mostly); they kissing when the house is on fire; Ed finding not just one letter but the whole pile of them; a better narrative use for Seagull Buttons (well, any narrative use, really); developing the bombclocks thing in a way where Auntie was not deprived of her superhuman detective skills; having Ned Low as bigger villain, with several appearances.

-The general development of Ed/Stede in the final episode... It's just confusing to me. My reading of Stede's mind state was that he was on autopilot since he killed Ned Low, and being abandoned by Ed and having his ass kicked by Zheng would wake him up a little, but this episode he's still in PROBLEM SOLVER mode, zero regrets about anything, still hasn't talked anything through EVER, he's just fine. With Ed I dont even ask for coherence bc he's always been a wtf guy, but I dont understand the "just do whatever you're good at" thing in the beginning of the episode, and he claiming back his leathers and his pirate-self and going on berserker mode and fighting along Stede as equals and blablabla if at the end he's still chosing to be a fucking innkeeper. Also, having a shitty inn in the middle of nowhere sounds too close to the antique shop in ep4, didn't they learn ANYTHING from Mary and Anne? I mean, the innkeeping was a predictible outcome, but the setting up of the episode was really aiming to the opposite, so it feels weird to me. In any case, I'm happy they're together and if being absolutely on their own in the loneliest house in the world doesn't get them to improve their communication, idk what else they could do.

-Still think they should have been lighthouse keepers instead.

-Next season Im totally muting every OFMD tag as soon as they announce the trailer release, because the promo and bts content was absolutely TOO MUCH. Those fuckers had been showing us stuff from the very climax of the fucking last episode since weeks before the season aired. I get it's a me problem, but I do believe it ruined my experience a lot, so fuck that.

And well. That's it. Good season, could have been great. Im happy but sad. Let's just hope that, if there's a season 3, they gave them more money and time to do it properly.

oh my god I hate to think you thought people weren't LOVING lmr chapter 4! seems like there really was a universal lag in people not seeing the update, myself included. maybe more of your followers like football than u thought...

i didn't know there was any football stuff going on lol. i know there Are A Lot Of Sports Fans in the world in general but my vibe of the catradora fandom is that our football-viewer percentage is lower than average, unless you're talking about women's soccer 😂 i also think it was influenced by the archive having issues that day (partially down) since i had at least two people tell me they never got an email. I also didn't really mention i posted it on here - which i don't always do for fics, but i had been doing for the previous the chapters. i usually only mention it if im posting something or answering an ask anyway and can tack it on without like, having to make a Whole Post dedicated to it (this is a theme that will return later in this post)

normally when i do fic notes, i include a "what's next" section, but i left it off this time because im not sure, actually! i was initially planning (like, back a month ago when i first started writing) to do an au next but it would be a Lot and my interest is swaying towards canon rn so i thiiiiink it will be some OotW fics since i have a few wips for that and one In Particular that i need to figure out if its a one shot, or multichapter fic, or like two or three fics in a miniseries. i have like a dozen wips rn so its really hard to say.

i actually only realized i was posting on valentines day like two hours ago when i was given someone's milk chocolate haul since they only like dark chocolate lol. honestly im a bad person to ask this because im not one for dates or gifts or any of the stuff valentines is based on. i dont like Special things i just like the little everyday stuff, so valentines seems like a chore to me and its hard to come up with stuff for it. it also depends if you're talking like, in a modern au or for the etherian equivalent of valentines day. my vague answer is just they take it as an excuse to spend an entire day together since they love being around each other, or they go on a fun little adventure they havent found the time for yet. i can see them doing stuff with glimbow "double date" style too.

the answer is both! i go days without messages sometimes (which works for me because i like talking to yall but it also takes energy) and then other times i get a bunch at once. messages naturally gather around talking points (specific posts, fic uploads) so like, ive checked my asks twice tonight and had a decent number of asks both times, but when i posted chapter three i waited a few hours to gather some asks before replying since i knew they would be trickling in for the evening as people read the update.

it's also taken me two hours just to type out the replies in this post (which might give context to my "asks take energy" thing) so during that time more messages can come in and be answered in the same post as long as i remember to check right before i go to post it.

i like putting them all in one post just because it makes my blog and the dashboard experience Neater so i do it when reasonable, but i dont usually wait more than a few hours for the purpose of collection, if i do at all. it also lets me reply to and acknowledge some messages even when i dont have anything to say to them directly (like, i didnt have a reply to that ahhhh anon on its own, but it made me laugh so i wanted to post it, and by putting it in a larger group i can do that).

I have a blood boiling, eye popping, joint cracking hatred for stranger things and it’s based in such pettiness I’m sure you’ll appreciate it.

( I’d like to start off by saying yeah I watched it so nobody complains about me not giving it a chance. )

I struggled to watch it because of the flashing light sequences (I’m photosensitive) and when I said that online I was bombarded by a bunch of angry teens saying that it’s their hyperfixation and me saying it’s inaccessible is ableist. This was around when it first came out so that initially left a bad feeling.

As the seasons continued to progress, my hatred for the show grew more and more, the child actors, all the shipping, the thirsting over racist mullet man, the awful script in general. I did not understand why people became so obsessed with the show.

Nowadays I’ll block anyone who follows me who posts stranger things related content (especially that curly haired fr*ak, you know who I’m talking about) and it makes me irrationally angry to even see the actor.

I hate stranger things!! I truly hope this next part that is coming out makes that little gay boy cry and all his friends get eaten by the dungeons and dragons Voldemort dude and everyone gets upset bc they don’t get a happy ending. I want the show to end miserably with bad writing and even worse acting than the previous season.

PLEASE ME TOO i hate stranger things with a passion both the show, the writers/creators for treating it like some self-insert, the filming on a concentration camp/tattoo thing the fans were doing and the way people behave when it comes to those kids acting in the show.

I couldnt even get past the first episode you are so strong for getting through the seasons esp with all those flashing light sequences. and people act like stranger things is soo good when it seems like it didnt do ANYTHING different to any other sci fi movie made in the 80s would have been.

and dont let me started on how WEIRD people and the media are abt those kids, i saw a tik tok where 3 grown white women were hating on millie bobby brown and its like.... what did this girl do but come in to netflix, do her job and be a kid? they were like "i had a feeling she was a bitch" and one of them was like "shes smoking hot tho" and the other was like "isn't she like 12 tho?" and the other came in to say "nah she just turned 18" like omfg? theyre hating on this little girl like why are you competing with a kid? and calling her hot when you assumed she was like 12?

and the countless other adults who were shipping and calling those kids hot as soon as they turned 18 like there are so many predators around us its unbelievable.

and i hear the fandom is being racist towards caleb on tik tok, its all too much there is so much to hate about this show.

that era in 2017 when the IT remake and stranger things were around were HORRENDOUS. and the kate bush thing. i wish they never made stranger things

My overall opinion on the character

there is a reason why he is the main character and so beloved <3 i think hes so CUTE! i love the idea of a gunslinger in a scifi space western who refuses to kill and im so glad that nightow made that concept and brought it to life because vash is so! lovable! in all forms! hes everything to me!!! i LOVE manga vash the most rn, though subject to change once stampede comes out 😏😏 i love the way his hyperpacifism was handled and the fact that in the manga its obvious that it has HORRIBLE consequences. LIKE hyperpacifism does not exist in a vacuum. and he saw something so traumatic but hes still so kind?! the only main character. i love him genuinely. i have 3 introjects of him by accident

One virtue they have

the way this ask game is phrased makes me so confused all the time cuz im an excath who went to a catholic school for 6 years. huh. but i think that vash is very emotionally intuitive and just intuitive in general of course. hes super freaky smart. but he picks up on peoples emotions no problem and i always thought it was interesting how he reacted to them even when he was still acting like he was a clueless dumbass!!! he definitely saw through wolfwood quickly which makes me insane, and he picks up on his enemys' emotions too which is why he knows when they decide to not kill him anymore. crazy stuff. i like him

One flaw they have

same as knives. black and white thinking. i think vashs black and white thinking is so interesting because its the root of his hyperpacifism—no killing under any circumstances. he is put against the ROCKS thruout the story with horrible people who want him to die no matter what but to him, killing is inherently always bad. there is no grey area with either twin. because knives is a killer hes bad to vash. there doesnt seem to be a lot of nuance! ngl im just interested in seeing how both twins are autism creatures in opposite ways

Favorite moment from their arc

umm there are so many. in the manga i have always howled over vash going to mass in one chapter and being forced out by bounty hunters, and the bottle of alcohol in his coat breaks. like its not a HAPPY moment but this has always been the part where im like oh fuck. the consequences of his actions are catching up to him. he realizes he is making people around him suffer even though he refuses to kill and its literally driving him towards trying to be drunk at any possible time. he LICKS the alcohol off of his glove. it shows so well that even the most noble deed can turn out to have consequences we cannot deal with because nothing is black and white everything is grey and i wanna EXPLODE.

Least favorite moment from their arc

i hated how creepy he was in the movie. like fr. i know he does a lot of things so ppl underestimate him but it felt like they took his characterization way too far in that. vash in the anime was obsessed w/ pretty women (which always felt fake as hell LOL) but in the movie it is WAY too much for me lol. i wish that weird side of vash was never highlighted in the anime/movie

One relationship they have with another character

his and livios relationship makes me insane. like it sort of feels like after nick died that vash adopted his little brother. and its so obvious that hes OBVIOUSLY grieving at that point because Nick Just Fucking Died, he lashed out with his powers in response to the point where he sped along his OWN death, but like always he treats livio with kindness. he also makes them enough food that they get sick and doesnt bring up the fact that livio kind of is the reason why nick died. he falls asleep in the car while livios driving and he trusts him enough. i just love that livio got a second chance at all, it was obviously deserved but its very refreshing to see a system character become one of the main good guys and friends w vash :)

One relationship I'd like to see explored from this character

lina :(((( and granny :((( i wish we got to see them again besides the one thing at the end of the manga cuz they really were emphasized to be important to vash and that theyd meet again and it did make me sad to see them disappear off the face of the planet. i just love lina a lot shes so swaggy. generally though i think there are so many interesting relationships with the people vash meets so its hard to choose which should be explored more, luida is another option cuz i feel like she just appeared in the manga with little explanation and it would have been cool to see more of her & vashs relationship among other things

What I would have liked to see happen with them in the media

this is more anime geared cuz the manga satisfied me. but i did wish that they would have given vashs actions consequences. in the anime its very obvious that its got the shonen show swag, but they also made it impossible for there to be like. nuance in vashs actions imo. it just didnt hit as hard in the anime! where is vash crumbling under the weight of the fact that everything he does only makes things worse for the people around him! once youve read the manga its hard to feel like the anime did that ngl, because what i can commemorate the anime for is being a really good 90s shonen anime that captured the spirit of trigun well, but of course the manga being a seinen kind of freaked it. i also am just salivating at stampede rn im so excited 4 it i wanna see how they approach EVERYTHING!!!!

izzy! about your rant- this is one of the main reasons why i kind of stopped writing for skz. ive said it numerous times, but stays just dont know how to appreciate their creators. especially with fics like yours; you write fantasy stuff and things that are so so original and well thought-out, but in the end, its not what the community on here knows how to appreciate. its so easy to get notes on smut -and i dont wanna sound like im bashing smut writers, i just dont really get the appeal- but why do writers like you and so many other stay writers that write things like you do, not get the same amount of interaction? its a problem thats been talked about since i can remember, but the stay consumers on here still dont seem to understand how much interaction makes a difference in our motivation to post.

since i started writing for nct, i got much more interaction and feedback; i got asks, i got comments, reblogs- i got everything i wanted and desired as a skz writer. im not telling you to change who you write for, because thats stupid; you love stray kids and thats who you want to dedicate your time to, but im just further pointing at the fact that the audience is at fault, in a way. its not your fault you dont get interaction and you are not ungrateful for wanting it, its totally normal and understanable.

we didnt start writing to get notes; we were all writers before posting on tumblr. yes, we write for ourselves because it brings us joy. but since we have people that read and consume what we create, it would be amazing to get at least some reblogs and feedback. dont feel bad about it and dont let anyone make you feel bad about it.

i learned not to really care about notes and stuff, because it only made sad in the long run, but one thing that i use to reassure myself when posting is that i had a lot of fun with it, i love what i created and there will always be someone that finds it, even if it is just one person, and if that person likes it and it made their day, its worth posting even for that one person.

keep going izzy, your writing is beautiful and it will always find someone that appreciates it:)

honestly rants on this topic are very uncommon for me because i enjoy my writing way more than note counts. i think the reason i'm even really thinking of this stuff now is because i've recently been writing my own original stuff ✨✨✨ so that's been a lot of fun, just as fun as writing my fics and it made me realize i could just as easily keep my fics to myself and enjoy them. idk if that makes much sense??? but yeah it just has me thinkin'

i really liked what you said in para 4 for tho, because that's exactly how i feel about my writing. i know that if one person really likes it then i think it was worth posting it in the end. when black rose came out i was honestly shocked with how much feedback it ended up getting and the fact that it's well on its way to 900 notes is mind-boggling to me. then there's gold and silver, i adore that series with my whole being and regardless if one or one hundred people read it i'm finishing it, seeing people actually enjoy something that i know is "unconventional" for a community (online-wise not just stayblr) that tends to gravitate towards more general likes and preferred genres really made me really happy.

yeah even tho i'm well aware of how the stayblr area doesn't really do much for engagement i really do love to write for them. i've written for enhypen too and i still enjoy it but skz will always be who i write for most (i have thought of experimenting with other idols too but not sure who yet maybe nct dream? no guarantee but it has been a passing thought)

i get what you meant tho, i don't have any hate for smut writers, i'm friends with some of them and have interacted with some of them and they're really nice people, so absolutely no hate to them. it's just very obvious where the community directs their eyes to rather than sfw things or more plotted content. that's just a reality we have currently so it's not one person or a certain type of writer's fault. :)
