i genuinely love when you can tell an older show was Not made with high quality video viewing in mind. i am watching knight rider and constantly seeing all the little mistakes they surely brushed under the rug thinking nobody would see them on their crunchy little CRTs back in the 80s, that are huge attention grabbers now in HD fullscreen on my 3 foot computer monitor

the biggest one of course is all the drivers/controllers for the (in-universe) self driving car, kitt. there's guys tucked down in the footwells who can't always stay out of the shot. there's a guy who has a Car Seat Suit to blend in and look like the drivers seat from a distance, but you can always tell when that's the method they're using for a particular shot because its so much thicker than the passenger seat next to it and the headrest is missing it's cutout section. in at least one instance he starts taking the suit off too early, on a focus shot of the damn car, so its REAL visible.

all the extremely obvious stunt drivers or performers who look nothing like the character they're supposed to be

props, such as animals, vanishing from the car interior for stunt/race sequences.

the production crew (or their shadows) being visible in the background. only at a glance, but its especially hilarious in shots where nobody else is supposed to be around

the camera panning out from a sound stage set far enough that you can actually see over the edges of the set and into the stage they were filming in. mostly this happens with their truck trailer mobile unit thing.

this one isn't a mistake but every time the car "turbo jumps" they CLEARLY hide the ramp behind another car, a prop, the environment, and its just. so charming. sometimes its blatantly on screen just for a moment. like... of Course in real life this car isn't magically leaping 20 feet, of course its a ramp, but it's still so silly and fun to be reminded of how they were doing those stunts to begin with.

also not really a mistake but related, the bracket they keep on the front of the car for stunt work.... is just left on half the time. cuz it's a pain to take on and off.

and there are more examples that are more unique that haven't cemented themselves in my head well yet, but these are the more notable or common things i see and it's really charming. if i'm not giggling to myself noticing the "seams" and flaws and so human imperfections of your show or movie what EVEN is the point. hollywood is too flashy these days i think!

Sowing seeds of discontent and disharmony by hanging up on my parents birthday phone call the second my mom asked if I gained weight. Hope that sits badly on their minds while they think about how that's the first call I've engaged with them in 2 months and it was for the dogs birthday. Dad scrambling to text me for my mom that she didn't mean it. Like fuck I told her I've been having a rough month and day. She couldn't keep it to herself that badly. Fucks sake

the thing is like no matter who was announced for coachella people would say “[insert group name] deserves it more” and it’s sad because i just hate that people can’t celebrate the fact that these groups, who always do amazing performances, get to perform at one of the biggest festivals ever just because it’s not their faves performing

I had a nightmare that through some stupid glitch I accidentally gained like 2000 followers on a private social media account and I wasn't sure it was a dream so for a few hours there I really felt like kicking the bucket

#nightmares #sometimes i just wanna full disappear my internet presence #cleae out all my emails #and stop trying to do social media when it creates so much anxiety #humans were not built to take in this much conflicting information and verbal violence and watchfulness all the time #we were not built to be looked at by potentially millions of people #i like the stage as much as every showman but thats at most a few hours out of a day a few times a year #and i still get stage fright #i am a SEASONED stage performer ffs and my mouth still gets bone dry and i get a little weak in the knees every time #it is actively terrifying as it is exciting to have so many people's eyes on just you. to know without a doubt you are being watched #stage performance and social media are both like if the things social anxiety is telling people were true #it is no great wonder why virtue signaling and anxiety is so high especially in young people #the issue with 'all social media' isnt 'body image issues' thats usually instagram #the issue with it is the debilitating anxiety of being watched and constant depressing news

i hate when old guys at work try to debate me, not about historic perspectives, but about, like, how the boat works.

not the period accuracy of the boat, no. the logic of how it's set up. like at least once a month someone's smug dad tells me that it's stupid that the wheel is at the aft of the ship. there are a few other things they'll debate me on, but the wheel being in "the wrong place" is the biggest one. they want it to be in the front so bad, and I try politely to explain that the wheel is connected by ropes to the tiller and the rudder, which are in the aft, so the wheel is also in the aft.

they will argue with the logic of this in their own varying ways, but always as if they think that putting the wheel in the aft of an 18th century merchant ship was my idea, and if they just explain to me why their ideas are better, i, a tour guide born in the 1990s, will see reason and retroactively change the way boats were made 250+ years ago.
