whenever you told someone that your boyfriend drove formula one cars for a living, their initial response was always to 'ooh' and 'ahh' over how luxurious that must be for you. you must be so well travelled, spoiled with tons of gifts, showered with champagne any time he did well on track.

and you would agree - it was true, after all - but those were never your favourite parts of dating lando norris.

what you loved most about lando was how himself he was, no matter how bright the spotlight that shone on him became. it was lando being so quintessentially, well, lando, that had led you to the dreamlike date you were currently on together.

no longer phased by late night texts requesting your company at any hour of the day, you'd wasted no time in getting yourself dressed up for a mystery date the moment lando had messaged you about it.

and now, sat beneath the stars on the hood of his car, you felt like the luckiest person to walk the earth. how lando had found such a pretty, secluded location, you'd never know. part of the beauty was not knowing.

bar the moon acting as your chaperone, it was just you and lando for as far as you were aware. for one night, you were granted your own part of the earth, a land that could be your own.

lando, cheesy as ever, had began to play some romantic old love song from his car speakers, a gesture that was only briefly delayed by the house song he'd accidentally queued up first.

once you'd controlled your giggles, lando had held out his hand, stooping down into a bow and playing the part of a gentleman.

"can i have this dance?" he asked, grin so wide his eyes began to crinkle up at the corners.

hesitant was a feeling you never experienced around lando. your hand was in his before you had time to think.

neither of you were particularly well versed in the art of dance, but you knew each other like the back of your own hands, and each step and movement was fluid, second nature after years together.

the silver moon cast a glittering glow over your intertwined frames, a spotlight for your personal duet that caught lando's face perfectly in it's light.

"you're staring," lando mused, eyes sparkling in amusement as he realised he'd caught you.

"you're making it hard not to," you admitted, eyes flitting down to the curve of his top lip briefly before you met his eyes once more.

"so i'm a distraction, am i?"

it was a joke, yet his fondness for you outweighed the humour in the tone of his voice.

"well, you said it not me."

lando laughed at this, a sound that never failed to make your heart skip a beat.

"i think i can be even more of a distraction," he hummed.

in one swift move, lando's lips were on yours as his hands gripped your waist firmly. the kiss was soft, yet passionate, the movements of his tongue somehow tracing everything he could never say to you into the cavern of your mouth.

being at the track with lando was fun, as was the winter trips to ski lodges and summer holidays in resorts. but without a doubt, your favourite place to be with lando was underneath the haze of the milky twilight, lips locked as his heart bore roots into your own chest.

also what would be the song titles of the other songs on the album 🤨 i am very curious abt make believe celebrity world

other than galatea, we know of two other songs in the text, circe circus and sunburnt. the first one is apparently an overly grand love song, and sunburnt a summer-y thing. those two titles were chosen specifically because of what i assume are the general Themes of the album, or at least the song titles, ie. greek myth-inspired and galatea, take one text-inspired.

circe circus is mostly because i liked the alliteration, but also because i think it could be a very tongue-in-cheek song about the artifices and masquerade of love (which i think is why matty would see it as this mockery of love songs instead of genuineness). circus is generally considered a grand farce, and circe is an enchantress who would seduce men and then turn them into pigs.

i picked sunburnt because of how, in the ice cream scene, she covers her blush and therefore her growing attraction/feelings with the lie that she must be getting sunburnt. i assume that would have been the subject of the song, though she also describes her fans as sunburnt, so maybe it’s an ode to them instead.

following those two ideas, i can absolutely see her covering the myth of medea (my fav greek myth Yay). if you’re not familiar, medea marries jason and commits several war crimes and vile, insurmontable acts for him, and then he abandons her and their children for a princess. scorned and betrayed and Unhinged, she ends up killing the princess, the king, and then her children (with regrets<3). anyway i think it would absolutely be a piece she delves into when she realizes that matty is Not gonna leave delilah for her, and she starts relating to the betrayal and pain of medea. definitely a female rage anthem.

(side note pls read medea by euripide it’s such a good play and it talks with so much empathy and understanding about objectively a Bad woman and a Bad mother in ways that had not been done before, especially not in ancient greece. the phrase ‘what other creatures are bred so exquisitely and purposefully for mistreatment as women are?’ makes me go feral the whole monologue is insane and you’re telling me ancient greek man WROTE THIS?? what 20 years old teenage girl possessed him wtf)

i could also see a song touching on beauty with a title about aphrodite. she does say that her ex-boyfriend didn’t, from her understanding, find her beautiful, but instead raw and unfinished and he aimed to complete her. i think that must fuck with her vision of her and her beauty, and she would write a song unpacking it. or maybe talking about the running youth and beauty and if she is not pretty and young, if she cannot be a muse anymore, what will she be. once again touching on her qualms about musedom.

the second category is, again, words or sentences from prose /i/ would pick from the writing to represent her own emotions. i guess it’s quite meta lol, though i assume if i wrote it she could have thought it. there probably would have been something called too sweet about her just being too nice for her own good, which would be a very biased and unreliable song (she is, once again, deceiving and hurting a very kind woman. not too sweet not to fuck her man!).

i think something about coffee too since it’s a running theme to represent the failings of love (meeting her ex in a coffee shop, the espresso martini matty makes her tasting like a ‘mature café day in new york, but coffee just the same’, kissing him and she’s glad it doesn’t taste like coffee, etc etc). uncertainty and doomed fate and patterns and Loss of love would be its subject.

there is, on top of that, an unnamed break up song about her ex. i think that one would go more in the second category, maybe something like watercolors since she quite literally says ‘fuck watercolors’ about her ex and his treatment of her.

teehee... a lot of my music taste hcs are either me projecting or for funnies but i feel like most of them fit pretty well...

anyway here they are in alphabetical order (under a cut bc this will be a long ass post otherwise):

Akane - she like the kind of dubstep and edm that was popular in the early 2010s. skrillex and similar. bangarang in particular gives me akane vibes

Chiaki - in true Gamer fashion, Chiaki likes a lot of game soundtracks, but in addition to that, she likes hyperpop, a plethora of vocaloid artists, and crystal castles

Fuyuhiko - he's very secretive about his music tastes but only because he doesn't want anyone to know he likes the music he does. i haven't decided if he likes disco or ska (or both), but it's one of those two for sure. I think at this point i'm leaning more towards ska...

Gundham - Gundham likes the wizard-esque doom metal. The stuff about necromancers and shit. Slow tempo music is usually his go-to. He also likes some new romantic bands like the cure and others, and listens to type o negative as well. Another band that appears often in his mixes is muse.

Hajime - despite his 'everyman' appearance he likes 'weird' music. He enjoys breakcore and bands that defy genre. At the top of his list is Machine Girl, this song (and album) in particular reminding me of him. He also listens to a lot of death grips.

Hiyoko - she doesn't listen to a lot of music outside of practicing for her dance routines, but when she does it's the most disgusting (complimentary) death metal you've ever heard.

Ibuki - NU METAL. and some other metal of course. Korn, Disturbed, Kittie, Slipknot.... she also likes three days grace and mcr. and death metal as well and she actively seeks out death metal bands with women vocalists.

Imposter - as Byakuya, he says he listens to classical music to sound refined and stuff, but in reality they love bubblegum pop and boy bands

Izuru - he's the only person on earth who says they listen to 'all genres' and actually does. It's a new genre every week with Izuru. His favs are usually the genre mash-ups, and also music that just plain sounds bad <3

Kazuichi - pop punk. a tiny bit of grunge in the mix too. green day

Mahiru - Spice Girls and 80s pop bands with women vocalists.

Mikan - Lana Del Rey and similar 'indie' women singers that were popular mid 2010s

Nagito - he says he 'doesn't listen to music', but then if you push it he'll say he listens to a bit of emo stuff and some pop punk. blink 182 and similar. but THEN he'll say he was lying and actually only listens to news podcasts. in reality it's just the pop punk.

Nekomaru - dad rock. AC/DC :^)

Peko - babymetal, nine inch nails, a perfect circle, and a lot of things in-between

Sonia - true to her name and country of origin, she listens to nirvana, but they AREN'T her fav grunge band. Her fav grunge band is Alice in Chains. She also dips into nu metal every once in a while, particularly deftones.

Snake: OK so if you know me, you know what I'm going to say. This man HAS ME in his chokehold, okay? This man could throw me on the ground, stomp on me and I'd thank him. Somehow in such a short time he's become one of my favorite characters of all time. He's got the heart, the look and everything. I love the fact that he never stops trying. <3 Even though the world doesn't deserve this at all!!! I love him.

also I'm more of a moobs girl but i realized the importance of ass thanks to him. I also like thighs a lot so we will sexualize the old man.

Finn: FINN IS LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAV SW CHARACTERS and I just get SO MAD thinking how badly he was treated in the trilogy. I had such high hopes for him so it was so sad to watch it all fall apart. I still think if the EU ever starts to think about continuing on where TROS left, he still could be made into a Jedi knight. I WANT TO BELIEVE. (So far the only thing we have is the LEGO movies lmfao. Even they know that Finn should be training !!)

Anyway. I always thought that giving a redemption arc to a random stormtrooper was a great idea. Imagine if he became a full on Jedi ok not going back to that whole rant I absolutely love how big hearted he is and the way he got super courageous even in the first movie alone.

OKAY I CAN'T NOT SAY IT John Boyega is hot and I'm thankful for his hair transition in the later movies - especially in TROS he was HOT ASF.

Snake: If this was an unpopular opinion about MG in general HO BOY WOULD I HAVE A MILLION. IDK what can be said about Snake that would be unpopular. I can't think of a fun fact either. ;_; so I'll widen the question (like i want snake to widen the gap between my legs ok ill see myself out) and say that I don't like how Snake was sidelined after MGS3 was hyped so hard and he became like a secondary character the BB and this is my villain origin story,

Finn: ok again. I don't think I have anything that would be unpopular opinion about Finn since I think we majorly agree that Finn was handled very badly. But I guess I can say one thing - I don't find the way he wants to be with Rey certainly A BAD THING. She was literally the first person after Poe who believed in Finn, and him tricking her made him feel awful about it. She was one of the reasons why he had changed his ways and I love their relationship, platonic or romantic. They are the best <3

TEN / ( INSPIRATION FOR MUSE  ) - well, the general inspiration was because i recently rewatched most of twd, so i just got a lot of muse for certain characters. rick and andrea kinda inspires me bc they’re not normally the type of muses i’d choose to personally write ?? and i like the challenge and getting that change of pace from the types of characters i usually write. philip, i got inspired to write because, well... i used to absolutely hate the governor, ngl. but rewatching the episodes, i tried to really like... focus a lot more on his character to see if i could understand why he was the way he was, and.... man oh man did i really start to find his character absolutely fascinating and complex and heartbreaking and i just knew i had to explore more of his character bc rip he went from being one of my least fav characters (not just in twd but of all time) to one of my top 5 favorite characters of all time and i can’t believe i haven’t written him sooner. brian, i got the inspiration to write bc i started reading the novel ‘rise of the governor’ and i remembered in the show, philip mentions his brother briefly, so i was like “oh shit, now i got an idea for how the show!version of his brother might’ve been like.”  and then i started playing around with the idea of philip and brian being twins and i just kinda went with it tbh. negan, i ... well, my inspiration is kinda on and off with him. i tried to write negan before, when only s7 and s8 had come out, but i just couldn’t pull it off because i felt like the writing in the show was a little too over-the-top-forced (mind you the comics are even more so in that regard,) with negan just being a loud ass swearing asshole all the time, so i just felt like i couldn’t do him justice, that he’d be too ooc if i tried writing him, because i wanted to write more sides of him than just that ?? but then season 9 and the first half of season 10 aired, and the writing for negan became a lot more... well, you get to see more of who he actually is underneath that very loud front he put up in s7 and s8 and i just really wanted to explore more of that ??  although i still feel like i’m gonna end up disappointing people bc i don’t write him as this constantly witty, loud, swearing asshole, hence why i don’t currently have a whole lot of muse for him. ( that and my muse for philip kinda overpowers him. apparently i can’t write two bad guys at the same time pffft.) and lastly, kenny, my inspiration was; this is a flawed man who’s lost so so much but who’s still trying to do the right thing and this character breaks my heart but also fills it because he’s just...... trying his damn best to protect the people he cares about, he’s loyal, he’s not afraid to speak his mind, he’s stubborn and caring and despite constantly being beaten down and losing people, he still finds the strength to keep going, and just hhhhh listen man, kenny is great. plus the writers didn’t really do him justice (staring at you season 2 and 3) and i was like “he deserves better than this and i’m gonna give it to him”

ELEVEN / ( STORY BEHIND URL ) -  it’s not really that big of a story. basically, i write multiple muses, so i wanted a url that describes them all. i figured, they are all survivors on the show. what describes all of them is that they lived through the initial outbreak. they are multiple people, so ‘us’. they’re survivors, so ‘living’. but i think the url usliving was taken, so i settled with uslivin instead.

Each TMNT Incarnation and Where They Stand With Me :)

(Nervous chuckle) ... Yeah no, I suck at titles. Moving on! 

Y’all can go ahead and skip this part if you’re not interested in senseless rambling and just wanna get to the TMNT fun~ ;) 

Soooooo, I’ve recently updated my Tumblr page to a blog dedicated to all my fandoms (musing, headcanons, writing, gifs, pics, the works, basically anything and everything in relation to them) since I wasn’t really ever doing anything with it other than using it to share pics mostly. But ever since I stumbled back into the TMNT fandom, I’ve been searching Tumblr for fan content and OMGOSH, did I hit the jackpot! Headcanons, fanfics, Turtle x reader stories, so much juicy stuff! Am hooked! Dunno why I never tried searching for similar stuff in the past for my other fandoms! I guess I just... didn’t realize there was so much content here. :O But anyway, I always wanted a place to share ideas and thoughts regarding my fandoms outside of sites like Deviantart and Fanfiction.net, and heck, it’s been here under my nose all this time... Y’all gonna have to forgive me; I’m an old fart. ;P (Insert image of Slowpoke for reference) So without further ado...

Imma start this blog off really simple and, as the title states, just give you all a small-ish idea of where each TMNT universe stands (or ranks?) with me, personally... Note the ‘personally’ part so please don’t feel offended if I don’t share the same opinion as you on a particular verse. ^^; I have my own tastes and will respect the next person’s when it comes to them. ;) Also, please beware the typos (which there most definitely will be)...

MIRAGE COMICS~

Imma just say it: I haven’t read any of them yet. :/ There probably are sites out there that would allow you to view them online for free, but in truth, I’ve been a little slack about trying to find any... That may however change someday as I always tell myself I should really seek out the source material so it’s only a matter of time. What I do know, however, is that they’re of course a lot darker than most incarnations (which I don’t have a problem with personally) and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious as to exactly how much darker. X’D The closest I’ve come to ‘knowing’ these Turts comes from watching the Turtles Forever movie and they weren’t in it for a long time so it’s very difficult to say what they actually mean to me, so we’ll just put these guys down in the ‘not sure’ column for now. ;)

1987 CARTOON~

HAHA~ I think any fan of the franchise as a whole knows this little gem! The series that really hit it off and spawned over a 190 eps! Quite an impressive feat for a Saturday morning cartoon! It made its way to TVs the year before I was born, but it would take another few before it would reach our tubes (we’re always a few years behind the rest of the world :/ ) so I was around four when I was first introduced to it and needless to say, I loved it back then! Michelangelo was initially my fav due to him being my older brothers’ fav and the one they mainly spoke of, but it didn’t take long before my favering gravitated towards Leonardo (even at such a young age) and has been that way ever since. ;) But where exactly does the series stand with me as an adult nowadays with so many other verses we’ve been exposed to? I do hold a lot of nostalgia (as many older do) for it, and I mean, come on, that theme song is ageless, and I even started watching a lot of vids involving the original VAs and the shenanigans they get up to and seriously, it’s so heartwarming and fun to see them! But I have to be honest...

It’s not my fav verse, honestly. I will always adore them, of course, because of the nostalgia and the goofiness... But it’s the latter that’s mostly the reason for it being placed a bit lower on the favoritism ladder. While its a fun watch if you want something lighthearted, I still prefer the idea of the darker undertones that comes with being associated with ninjas. It’s just a preference. Plus, the Turtles designs are big one for me, and I’m sorry to say, but I keep seeing these fellas as more frog-like than turtle, despite the shells. X’D So yeah, no big reasoning for it, and even if someone were to ask me if I like these guys, I’ll still say yes, just that they’re not my ultimate fav is all. ;)

Also, we won’t talk about the Japanese Anime Ninja Turtles: Superman Legend or something to that extent... We’ll just let that one be gently swept under the carpet. ;) Only ever saw the trailer for it and that’s all I’ll ever need to see in my lifetime.

1990 MOVIES TRILOGY~

Now funny enough, I really don’t remember ever seeing these movies as a kid, though it’s possible I did and just maybe blocked the memory, but I highly doubt it... So yeah, I saw these movies as an adult already. The first is praised by most fans, and honestly, I can see why: it’s pretty good! :D The acting is very decent and the humour’s brilliant! The two sequels... not so much but still okay. ;) Where they sit with me... Not too far on the ladder again I’m afraid. :/ While I do really enjoy and appreciate the acting and that humour (”I made a funny.” X’D) it mostly comes down to the Turtles designs again... I really can’t see past them being actors in costumes rather than characters. :’( Granted, good actors. ;) And heck, Jim Henson did a phenomenal job! They’re just not really the movies for me is all, even if I do go back and watch ‘em every now and then. X’D I do however melt every time at the scene in the first movie where Raph wakes up in the bath and Leo’s there and apologizing and all... Makes me all gooey inside! X’D The feels are real! Speaking of Leo, though, he sounds even younger than Mikey. Small nitpick, that, but... why? X’D

But yeah, let’s just say, they’re good movies, just, not my favs.

Also, Coming Out Of Their Shells tour... Yeah, I’m gonna just... pretend that doesn’t exist for a minute.

2003/2k3~

Well it wasn’t already apparent by my avatar... Ladies and gents, I present to you... My fav TMNT verse to date! Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this delicious series?! :D Firstly, animation: so appealing, comic book-y style! Their designs: without sounding pervy, veeeeeeeery appealing (hehehehehe), no seriously, they sometimes have a bitta bulk to them but it honestly works, and dem muscles, and the cool eyes! The VAs: spot on! Perfect! Wouldn’t have ‘em any other way! Make me melt, Mr. Michael Sinterniklaas~ (cough) Their personalities: Omgosh, just yes! So perfect! They’re easily differentiated and yet still work together so well. Leo’s mature and level-headed (well, most of the time ;P ) yet still gets tested a lot and even has a fun side that’s shown on occasion. Raph’s grouchy and violent but is shown on more than one occasion that’s he’s total softie and really does care. Don’s just a sweetheart and freakishly smart and even has slips ups from time to time. Mikey... omgosh, best Mikey ever! So much fun! So hilarious! And just a bundle of energy, but not at all an idiot like he’s sometimes portrayed in other verses. He’s witty, mischievous and just so adorable! Heck, even Master Splinter, April, Casey, the lot of them are just awesome in this series! And wow, they really do lean more towards the source material (or so I’m told) when it comes to the plots! It’s darker than the other previous verses yet still remaining kid-friendly (although I question it at times XD) and omgosh, it’s just everything I want in a TMNT universe! Granted, it’s not perfect perfect, but it nailed it for me. ;) It really showed so lovely character developments, alsortsa different genres, the humour will leave you in stitches, the Turts are all just so lovable, I can’t get enough of them! This series was really my high point and I’ve yet to find one that tops it~

Btw, this even includes Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer (BTTS). The former being my least fav of the series simply due to the setting and again, it’s just preference. I even liked BTTS, even though I’m not overly fond of a cyberspace setting, but I found myself really liking the art style and the general plot. :D 

2007/2k7~

As with the last, if you’ve picked up on the page’s header/banner, you’d have probably guessed that the 2007 movie is also a good candidate for one my favs... And you’d be correct. ;) I’m actually very fond of this movie, and it’s largely due to the Turtles designs. I love how they were done! They just look so cool! <3 Subtle differences tell the viewer who’s who even if they didn’t have a mask or weapons. The VAs were also pretty good~ Now, the story isn’t the greatest, I’ll admit. Personally I thought it was okay, but know many fans think otherwise. But I did like the confrontation between Leo and Raph! It got real there, peeps! :O Now here’s also where it falls a little on its face for me: I didn’t really like how they handled Leo’s personality (if you haven’t already picked up on it, yes, I’m a Leo fangirl and I’m picky when it comes to how they handle his personality) but it’s a nitpick again, yet, I still feel compelled to state my opinion: the whole “I’m better than you.” comment really took me back and made me think they pushed it. I honestly like to believe he’d never actually say something like that... at least, 2003!Leo wouldn’t. X’D But that’s just my problem: I’m comparing a different verse’s Leo to this one and whether I like it or not, he said it. :/ Oh well, it still made for some fun action scenes and I’ll still always like the movie.

Bit of a goof on my side: I honestly thought that this movie was made to tie in with the 2003!verse due to the timeline in which it was produced, but turns out, it’s actually closer to the 1990′s timeline although still considered it’s own verse.

2012/2k12~

Oooh boy, lemme prepare for the backlash real quick... I’m uhhhh... not a fan of these boys. :/ I don’t mind them, but I’m honestly never gonna watch the series again. It’s hard to top your fav when you’ve kinda already hit your high point, ya know. Now before you light your torches and sharpen your pitchforks, hear me out: I will never bash the series, or make fun of anyone who likes it! Or anything to that extent! It’s just wasn’t for me, plain and simple, and it’s got nothing to do with it being ‘new’ or I’m just an old fart stuck in my ways. Heck, If you’re still reading, you would’ve found out that even nostalgia couldn’t beat the series that grasped me in my teens! So no, it has nothing to do with age. But if you do need a reason: I wasn’t overly fond of how they handle the characters. For one, they look and act a bit too young, Mikey is just... wow, something else. Donnie’s... sheesh, pretty snappy and antagonising. Raph’s well... okay, he’s meant to be angry half the time, and they did give him some more layers with Spike and Mona Lisa and whatnot, but he still kinda never learns his lesson if I can say that? He’ll learn that he shouldn’t cause issues with others, yet next episode he’s back at it again. :/ Leo’s... wow, just not like other Leos. X’D Best way I can describe him is... young? Very childlike. And even when he was progressing to becoming this better leader, I honestly couldn’t even see the change. My mind was just stuck on this “He’s a babeh.” notion. Also, I’m not even gonna start on this April and Casey. Just. No. Most of the characters were annoying and I just kept seeing recycled plot after plot. What I did like was the romance that blossomed between Raph and Mona (albeit far too rushed) and even Donnie liking April was adorable (but seriously Donnie, you can do so much better), and there were some really heartfelt moments, like Splinter telling Leo to leo his brothers with his heart and not his head, and the scenes when they were Tots will always make me squeal... But yeah... without leaving any spoilers.... about Splinter... just... thanks, Nickelodeon. Y’all know what I mean. Not once... But twice.... Really? So yeah, look, I realized some of those reasons might even be petty, but again, it’s just not the series for me, but anyone who’s a fan... You keep being a fan! ;) I’m glad you can enjoy something I can’t. ;)

2014/2k14/2016/2k16 AKA BAYVERSE~

HAHA~ Every fan’s favorite... If only. X’D Jokes aside, despite many fans claiming the Bay movies ruined the franchise, these two films gathered a small following... And I’m apart of it. :) Funny enough, I honestly didn’t know what to think of them when the movie first came out. I think I was just taken aback by the sheer amount of detail and all that went into their designs. I didn’t not like them, but again, their designs were a lot to take in. :O Even now after seeing the movies quite a few times over, I find myself constantly discovering something I didn’t notice on them before, be it a strap or a scar etc. And it honestly took some getting use to their sizes, I mean, sheesh! :O Not to mention the different background story, and Megan Fox’s wooden, expressionless acting, but despite all that... I found myself actually growing attached to these hulks of Turtles. They still have a lot of that heart in them and plus they’re just so much fun, I mean, can we say ‘Elevator scene’? X’D Now again, not perfect by anys mean, but still fun and pretty decent incarnations to add to the franchise. Again, Leo’s been given this ‘Better than you’ a bit which irked me to be frank. Not always but it’s there sometimes, but otherwise alright. Raph’s a decent Raph. Even had some tender moments. Donnie’s adorable! X’D This slightly potty mouthed geek that you just gotta love. And Mikey... although given that bitta ‘idiot’ feel, is also just as lovable and you want to hug him every time he’s onscreen! 

In short, I like ‘em. :) They’re actually closer to the top of the ladder than some others.

RISE OF THE TMNT/ROTTMNT/2018/2K18~

Yeeeeeeeeuuuuuuh... no. Sorry. Not for me. :/ Again, gonna remind y’all, nothing to do with age. Nothing to do with change. I will say that the fluid animation is nice, and the fact that they chose 2D animation. :) Buuuuuut, wow, they were certainly a lot to take in. Almost as much as Bay’s Turtles. After watching a few eps, I will conclude that they really just aren’t what I’m looking for. I found that the constant joking, while sometimes funny, got a little bit much, plus such short eps. Raph being leader was a switch and one that took awhile to get use to and honestly, I’m just not for it, I don’t even know where to begin with Donnie, Mikey’s okay, Leo... (deep breath) I don’t know what they were thinking... Let’s not even go to Master Splinter. But anyways, I get that change was what they were going for and that it was more so based on the 1987 toon with the silliness so that’s fine. I’m glad it’s got so many fans. :) And honestly, I wanna end off just by saying...

That no matter what your thoughts on what I’ve said, I hope you can respect my opinions and choices cause at the end of the day, they’re just my own, and I will always respect yours! :D If you adore the verses I’m not too crazy about, that’s great! :D I want you all to love the heck out of them! And honestly, this is what’s so great about this franchise: there are so many verses to choose from! So many options and tastes to suit any and all! You don’t have to follow the masses! You go enjoy whichever incarnation(s) you want to! ;)

Favorite John Lennon Songs Conclusion

Hi there everyone. I’m sorry for the lack of activity on my page for the last few weeks. I’ve been busy with school and this thing called life, that apparently exists outside of the Internet (lol). But I feel bad that I left you all hanging without finishing up my list of what are my favorite songs from John. Considering how my schedule from here, till the end of December will be busy, I’ll have less time to be on Tumblr. Every now and then I’ll post a quick pic or vid. But as for my longer stuff, like my lists, or anything of that magnitude, will take time. But, just so I don’t leave this list undone, I’m going to end it by naming the remaining 5 songs, and giving a brief explanation as to why I like them. So here were go:

Number 5: “Girl”

A haunting and simple song, that describes what John believed to be his ideal lady. It reminds me a lot of Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman”, in that it’s describing a woman that the singer seems to love very much, even though what’s being said is less than flattering. It’s fascinating (if not saddening) that John would say years later, that the woman he was describing was in fact Yoko. Because in all honesty, the lyrics of “Girl”, although wonderful, are also negative and melancholy. I mean every time i hear it, I can’t help but think “poor dude...”

But it’s those same elements that make it a great song. It resonates with people because many can relate to it. It’s a song about complicated love, and how many people haven’t experienced that?

Number 4: Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds

I talked a bit about my feelings on John’s parenting skills in the past. It’s great to know he was there for Sean. I wish he could have tried harder with Julian. Although to his credit, he was getting there by the end of his life. And even though he was never too close to his eldest son, that didn’t mean he never wrote songs for him, or never wrote ones that were inspired by him. And that’s exactly what this song is: a fun little number, inspired by a picture Julian drew when he was just a toddler. It’s wonderful to know that John found inspiration from Julian, and used it to write one of his catchiest tunes.

The song is upbeat, and it has the psychedelic feel of the mid and late 60’. I’m not really into the psychedelic sound, but for some reason it works for me here. The lyrics are, as is to be expected by John, abstract and weird. But considering how the picture that the song is based off was adorably unusual, why shouldn’t the lyrics be as well. The imagery being described in the lyrics are descriptive and dreamlike like “Across the Universe”, but less ambiguous. By that I mean, even though it sounds odd, it’s evokes a happy feeling. “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds” is very much it’s own thing, and definitely in a good way.

Number 3: Julia

This song is heartbreaking. Before Yoko Ono, there was Julia: John’s mother and, when all is said and done, greatest muse. Although many of his songs seem to hint or allude to her (”Girl” actually being considered one of them), “Julia” is the first and perhaps only song that is specifically about his mom. And just like the rest of John’s work, the lyrics to this song are vivid, imaginative, and create this ever so saddening picture of a lost man, who still mourns the loss of his mother. But it also expresses his never ending love and admiration for her. And just like “Across the Universe”, the lyrics is what really makes it great. I do love John’s singing here though. I love hearing the more softer and mellower side of his vocals.

Of course I can’t forget to mention that the song hints at Yoko, since the line “ocean child” is the English translation of her name. I would have liked the song more if it had just been specifically about his mom, but it is what it is. And  “Julia” is nothing less than brilliant.

Number 2: In My Life

I originally had this one for number 3. But after some thought, I realized I loved this one slightly more. What can I say, I’m a sucker for sentimentality in music. To be fair though, “In My Life” in sentimentality at its best. True and ever so endearing.

This is perhaps the first, real, personal song John ever wrote (according to him). John wrote a lot of songs, but most of them were love songs. And while they do hint at some aspects of his life or personality, “In My Life” is basically his “Penny Lane”, in that he took his past and made it into a song. This was also a song in which much of the melody was done by him (with a little help from Paul of course).

It’s all about reflecting on the past, and remembering old friends and holding on to good memories. Above all else, it’s a song that reminds us to love and to continue to love those people and places that are important to us. It definitely highlights the softer side of John and for that alone, it makes it one of my favs.

And finally...

Number 1: Help

John really was a one of a kind man. Sometimes I love him, and other times I hate him. Considering how many of his personal choices upset me, it’s crazy that I even see him as my favorite of the dudes. But honestly, whenever I begin to think that I really don’t like John anymore, this song ALWAYS brings me back to loving him. It’s that good.

Like “In My Life”, “Help” is another personal song of John’s. But instead of focusing on the past, he’s focusing on the present. More specifically, he’s calling for help to anyone who might be willing to listen. Why? Because by this point in The Beatles career, the pressure was starting to get to John. On top of that, he was starting to gain a little bit of weight, which made him self-conscious. He would later dub this era as his “Fat Elvis” period. Personally, I thought he looked fine. He looked healthy and very attractive. In fact, I think 1965 was the year that John looked the most attractive, especially in the movie “Help” (John + turtleneck = super hot).

But I digress. “Help” is a very honest song that showcases John being very vulnerable, and openly asking for support from others. What keeps the songs lyrics from appearing to outright strong is the upbeat and fast-paced tempo. On the one hand it kind of keeps the songs message from being as obvious as it should. But at the same time, the quick and fun pace of the music gives the song a sense of urgency, making John’s cry for help all the more intense. And while I know John would continue to right many songs that express so much of who he was, there’s something about “Help” that gets to me.

I guess it has to do with the fact that I’m quite shy, and I often have a hard time dealing with pressure, especially in though situations. This song is all about realizing that you can’t deal with everything that life throws at you by yourself. It’s ok to admit you’re not in control. It’s ok to ask for help. That’s a comforting message. And though I’m not famous and could never really understand how John felt during this point of his, I do know that stress and pressure are horrible...and it’s great when you don’t have to endure it alone.

Bob Leone was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where he currently lives. In the late '70s & early '80s, he played in the rock band Flame. Flame was formed by the legendary Jimmy Iovine, a childhood friend of Bob's. In 1990, Iovine formed Interscope Records. James "Jimmy" Iovine is an American record and film producer. He is best known as the co-founder of Interscope Records (where Lana is signed) and chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M.

In 2006, Iovine teamed with Dr. Dre to found Beats Electronics, a company which produces audio products and operated a now defunct music streaming service. The company was purchased by Apple for $3 billion in May 2014. Lovine's net worth is estimated at $970 million. He "discovered" Eminem & worked with Bruce Springsteen.  Iovine almost singlehandedly brought so-called “gangsta rap” from the outer fringes of the music industry – to right smack dab in the mainstream.  It started back in 1990 when Iovine co-founded Interscope Records. He partnered with Death Row Records, putting up several million dollars to distribute its hard core rap.

Iovine was close with Death Row CEO Marion “Suge” Knight, who made no secret of his close ties to Los Angeles street gangs. Some of those true-to-life gangstas actually worked for Death Row, routinely bringing guns and drugs into the offices Iovine provided to Suge and his posse. Why did Iovine do business with Knight? Because Death Row delivered a succession of multi-platinum gangsta hits, which generated some $325 million in sales for Interscope by 1997. He didn’t part ways with Death Row until Knight went to jail (after violating probation on an attempted murder charge) and the label stopped delivering multi-platinum hits; stopped generating annual sales in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

“It was a love affair. But, I mean, I saw him off and on for seven years, and I’m still close with him. He’s someone who really influenced the way that I saw things, just in terms of not being able to have what I wanted. And just being close to a life that I really envisioned and loved. It wasn’t a career thing, it was a lifestyle thing. I was passionate about him and what he did, and it was being close to what I loved, but not really having it. Which I felt was just symbolic for the way things had been for so many years, standing right next to something that was so beautiful, but never quite having it.”

The people I was drawn to were already established, but they were probably looking for someone more on their level, age-wise.”

“I was like, “Yeah. I told [record executive] Jimmy [Iovine] when I signed, ‘If you want to sign me, this is all it’s ever going to be.’” I was just so committed to making music because I believe in what I do. All I had to do was not quit.”

“I sort of have an affinity for really good, strong, self-assured people,” she says. “I would say I haven’t met them as much in people who are in their 20s. So for me, I have nothing in common necessarily with somebody who’s in their 20s.”

Lana Del Rey: Which is so full circle because he ended up being the head of Interscope, which I’m signed to. There are so many full circle moments.

Stevie Nicks: “I think all of these little things, in a really fairy tale way, lead me to you and lead you to me in a strange witchy way. It’s set up, like all of these things that happened with my friend Robin, and her brother, and Rick, and everyone moving down here, me being Jimmy Lovine’s girlfriend from 1980 to 1984, then him giving the record and me to Rick, basically saying, “Here, take them both and go.” All of this led to me meeting you and singing on your record.”

After a video segment featuring several vintage clips of Iovine working in the studio, the Interscope Geffen A&M chairman took some time to reflect on his tenure in the industry, thanking many in the room personally. He then introduced his latest signing, Lana Del Rey, who performed her breakout song, “Video Games”  -- competently and confidently, we might add.

The sexy newcomer has been the subject of much controversy in recent weeks after a shaky TV debut on Saturday Night Live. But the 25-year-old beauty clearly has Iovine in her corner. He called her “an incredible girl” and told the crowd that Interscope has “a real commitment to her” just moments after complimenting Nicks, standing nearby, for her one-of-a-kind voice. “I dare anybody to tell me that’s shit’s not amazing,” said Iovine of Del Rey’s debut album, Born to Die. “It’s left-of-center, it doesn’t sound like anything on the radio, it’s not trying to be anything to anyone…”

After the performance, The Hollywood Reporter asked Iovine if was in fact comparison Del Rey to the iconic Nicks. His answer? “Lana haunts me the way that Stevie's voice haunted me and I just love her album so much,” he said. “But I can't compare anybody to Stevie Nicks because Stevie has the greatest tone of any female rock singer that I've ever heard.”

What does label chairman Jimmy Iovine make of it all, especially how divisive the album has been? “It's a drag,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Maybe this is a new sport. It's something we've never seen before. Or maybe it's [like] the Giants and the Jets.”

Musically, insists Iovine, “her album is really good. Great lyrics and great songs. I don't care what anybody says, ‘Video Games’ is a great song. When she sings that song, it moves me. It’s how we signed her – we saw her, she sang and it was beautiful. I think she's really talented. Period.”
