Bunnie, 12, 14, & 22

12: How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?

I feel like Bunnie would definitely bother Naomi until she helped. If they were not together, she'd simply be like a bear and scratch against a wall.

14: What animal do they fear most?

They have live-cams on the surface that the residents of the Undursa watch like Old Time Discovery Channel. I'd say they have some sort of unofficial deadliest animal poll going around base that Naomi and Bunnie watch with joy. Bunnie would be all about watching the animals on the surface but for sure has a mental list of one's she would not fuck around with.

I don't have names for a lot of the Cauterized wildlife but the guy on the cover is everyone's least(most?) favorite sharp friend on the surface. Huge green monster that prowls around deep wooded areas. Different residents call her different things but Naomi calls it the Jabberwocky based on a song from her childhood.

22: How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?

Bunnie is for sure a 'I simply won't leave your side' kind of jealous. :) No one else can get too close without also having to deal with her. Possessive, but in a 'I'm taking care of you' way. Having an unrequited crush for 20yrs will do that to you.

She'd never actually get in the way, but she's definitely be making sure you deserve her person and that you're treating them right. And she'd be quick to let you know if you crossed those generally reasonable lines. She totally would not fight you over Naom

B) What inspired you to create them?

Naomi needed a foil and had been one of my characters for years. I was evaluating the team and decided that it needed someone softer to bring it together. This was born Bunnie! And her sister. :) Brook is a more firm character that offsets Bunnie's non-serious demeanor. With Kadin, it created a well rounded team that could play off each other's strengths.

C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?

Bunnie was created to fill in a gap, so it felt like the story always was missing her once I added her in. She brings them together in a way I love and appreciate. Bunnie is the glue to the team, irreplaceable 🙃

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

Bunnie went through several rapid design changes. She was loosely based off an old webcomic character of mine named Lo. The blonde hair spilt off to the side comes from that design. When I showed her official design to my brother-in-law, he immediately said she looked like me with blonde hair/no glasses. I sat on that comment and decided to redesign most of my characters to reflect their voice actors. :)

Naomi: 4, 8, & 27

4: How easy is it to earn their trust?

Naomi isn't a particularly trusting person, though she just keeps herself at arms length from others. She has a small group of people she lives and trusts. If one of those people trusted someone, she'd follow suit however.

8: What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child

Naomi was definitely a 'I will not shut up about my special interests' kind of kid and I can imagine her being told to be quiet often. She was a pretty extroverted child before everything happened to her. I imagine being repeatedly told to hold her joy closer to her chest created an adult version of herself that doesn't talk much about what makes them happy.

27: What causes them to feel dread?

The smell of smoke and the sound of fire both make Naomi's stomach drop. It makes her scars burn. She avoids fire at all costs, which is thankfully generally easy in an underwater base.

B) What inspired you to create them?

Naomi was actually originally a waterbender ATLA OC. This was VERY short lived because I immediately fell in love with the concept of her character. She's for sure a vehicle for my own daddy issues, though she's got it much worse than I do. Naomi really is a character for working through my own issues at age 19. She's not nearly the self-insert she used to be. I've grown a lot in the last 7 years. Naomi's kinda like the scared kid I used to be. I love her very much, like she's a younger version of myself.

C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?

Nope. The story was designed for Naomi. She's the main character, even if it's mostly told by Bunnie. Everything in Cauterized revolves around Naomi ❤️‍🔥

There was a period where I couldn't make sense of her team as a whole and couldn't figure out how they'd make it on the outside. The team was originally just Kadin and Naomi, after all.

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

Naomi's appearance has changed a lot. I think I've changed her skin tone more than anything. Where she was an ATLA OC, her race was originally really ambiguous. When I cast you as her, I decided to rebuild her around your favorite parts of yourself, as you know :') Now, I think she feels like the character she should be. Her core character has never changed, but her outside appearance has gradually shifted.

Kadin: 2, 16, & 32

2: How easy is it for your character to laugh?

I like to think Kadin has a good sense of humor and laughs easily. I just think it's only around the right people. Kadin's good friends with the engineer Henry Gertsen. Their actors are good friends IRL. They probably get along really well and cut up together.

16: What makes their stomach turn?

Kadin has a sense of justice and seeing someone hurt really makes his stomach turn. He's not always the best at acting on that feeling, but always takes metal note of the underdog. He keeps watch over them for an opportunity to step in. Cruelty makes him sick, though he can be caught in inaction for fear of retaliation from command.

32: Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?

Kadin, unlike Naomi, actively makes jokes about his burn. "Gotta hand it to him, he had one hell of a grip" type jokes.

B) What inspired you to create them?

Kadin is a really cool character that's hard for me to go into detail about without revealing too many spoilers. He was created to be someone Naomi could rely on. Originally, he was her love interest, though now he's like a complicated almost friend, more co-worker type friendship.

Naomi's kinda scared to interact much with him personally because she wrongly thinks he has some sort of negative feelings towards her over their shared burn origins.

C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?

Kadin was one of the two original main characters, yet I've always kind of struggled with his deeper character. He's got a somewhat cold outer shell, calculating, though he's really a warm person who cares a lot. He's just very cautious and plans or ever move he makes.

Originally he was Naomi's guide on the outside and that's really not changed, he's just not her trainer any more. Funny enough, now Naomi's more his trainer over the bio-raptors at least.

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

They were several years younger in the original. Kadin was 23 or something like that. He's 28 now. Naomi was 19, she's 27 now. Honestly, they've swapped skin tones. Kadin got an overhaul when I cast Mitul as him to match him a little(I'm planning on doing a little more, though).

Kadin was also originally trans and in a sense, that's not changed, but he's not trans in a traditional sense. I'd say he's more he/they/it which is as close to spoilers as I can get.

Brook: 1, 18, 35

1: What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?

Brook is a never sits kind of person. Being forced to be still would probably be torture. She could sit through a lecture or a concert but she'd be totally bouncing her leg the entire time. She'd die after anything longer.

18: What embarrasses them?

Brook would be embarrassed by crushes or by a public slip up during the trials she runs with the bio-raptors. Those, I think, would be hey only two blush buttons.

35: How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?

Brook is a very good big sister. She's very protective of Bunnie and looks out for her all the time. Their parents are both scientists in another lab and we're always pretty busy. As the oldest, Brook took it upon herself to fill in wherever needed.

This isn't always a good thing, however. She's not a very big fan of Naomi and could've been a better support to her. She thinks Naomi derailed Bunnie's life. Otherwise, Brook almost can't help taking control of a situation and fixing it. She's over all very supportive.

B) What inspired you to create them?

Bunnie was added for Naomi. In a sense, Brook was added for Kadin. She's a rival, a bright mirror, a foil. I wanted a firm, strong character that would step in when no one else would. She's a very important character to the team.

C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?

She was designed to fill in a gap much the same way Bunnie was. It was pretty easy to let her full the hole in the story she was made for. She's the strong, supportive big sister of the team who's not scared to lay down her truth.

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

Brook took a long time for me to settle on a design for. She's the newest character to the show. She's still in her original design as the one painting in doing is the only one I've made so far.

Apart from her place in the team, she's a very self-indulgent 'what I think an attractive woman looks like' + features from my best friend Jess who plays her. I realized after doing most of her character painting that she really just looks like a female version of my husband + a little of my best friend.

A Recorded Life (14/50) - Miraculous Ladybug

Words: 1891 Chapter Summary: The time has come! Marinette is finally making a video with Chat Noir. But it doesn't come easy, Chat Noir has to tell his best friend, and Marinette has to have one of her classic Marinette freak outs before the video happens. Hopefully the video goes to plan! Author's Note: we're getting closer to the climax of the story! A few more fun parts then to some more fun/serious stuff. I'm also lowkey running out of pre written parts so I need to get back on bs for this story. I still love it though, and this part was a lot of fun and I know some people were looking forward to it!

"Come on, Ladybug, you have to do this video with me!" Chat Noir pleaded and pleaded his partner as he told her about his conversation with Marinette the night before.

Ladybug shook her head. "No, Chat Noir. I can't. Besides, Marinette asked you, and I won't intrude, you're going to have fun doing this video. I'll be a stick in the mud," Ladybug replied, trying anything she could to get him to listen to her without outright saying "I'm Marinette, so I'm already doing a video with you!"

In retrospect, she should have seen this coming. Marinette knows they're a team and Chat Noir wouldn't do anything without Ladybug, but here she is, denying him of that.

"Ladybug-"

"Chat, really, you don't need me in the video. You and Marinette will have a great time making whatever she comes up with, okay? I'll be sure to watch it with you as soon as she releases it," Ladybug smiled.

After a very long time of convincing, Chat Noir finally listened and gave up on trying to get Ladybug to do the video with him. He kept thinking about Marinette and what she possibly could have planned, and she did warn him Alya would be there, so he knew whatever video they would be making, it would be good.

Alya still couldn't believe Marinette managed to make this happen. How did she do it? Alya knew Marinette wouldn't answer all her questions thoroughly, so she finally set it aside and was just happy the video was actually happening. Chat Noir was scheduled to be appearing in Marinette's room in a few minutes, and Alya was excited. Sure, she had met him before, but this would be completely different from any other time.

"You don't seem as excited as I thought you would be," Alya commented. "What's on your mind?"

"Don't get me wrong; this is going to be awesome. Ever since people found out I've had encounters with him, they've been asking for a video with him," Marinette answered. "But I'm afraid, like with Adrien, people will start to ship us. I don't want to bring Chat Noir into that; he already deals with that with Ladybug."

Alya shrugged. "I think if he were worried about that, he wouldn't have agreed to do this. I don't think you have to worry, and I'm sure your Adrienette shippers will not leave their beloved ship for Chat Noir," Alya winked.

Without time for Marinette to respond, there was a knock on her trap door. She climbed up and opened it with a warm smile at Chat Noir.

"Good to see you again, Marinette!" Chat Noir bowed once he entered the room. "And Miss Ladyblogger."

"I still can't believe you managed to make this happen," Alya's smile was the widest it has ever been. "The fans are going to freak."

Chat Noir nodded. "Should we get started?"

Alya gestured to the chairs for them to sit in and nodded. Following her unspoken instructions, she pressed record on the camera. "Hi, I'm Marinette!" She waved. "Look who I have with me!" She shouted.

Chat Noir put his hands up and had a massive smile on his face. "You have no idea how excited I am!" He squealed. "I don't even know what we're going to be doing...I'm just so excited to be in one of Marinette's videos. I've seen them all at least twice."

"You have a big fan!" Alya smirked from behind the camera. "And I used to think Adrien was your number one fan."

Marinette chuckled. "He's got some competition," She winked. "So, Chat Noir, are you curious about what we're doing today?"

"Curiosity does kill the cat," He shrugged. "But, first, let me say: I loved the outfit you made for Adrien Agreste to model. I may be a little biased, but it was practically perfect."

Marinette shook her head. "I would say I would get you it, but good luck trying to take it away from him. He's half holding onto it because he claims it to be awesome, but also that he wants a Marinette original for when I become rich and famous...personally, I think he's a little crazy," She rolled her eyes. "Anyway! Let's get into the video. Before you got here, I came up with a few designs for you to judge. You're going to choose your favorite, and we're going to make a complete outfit with both of our opinions and ideas."

Chat Noir's smile widened as he nodded to her idea. "Do you remember the first time we met?"

Marinette gave him a confused look. "Where did that come from?"

He shrugged. "I figured the people would want to know the backstory. They know all the other stories of how you met your friends- and I like to think mine is the most, well, exciting."

Alya pointed a finger at him. "Watch yourself. She's my best friend!" She joked.

Chat Noir put his hands up in surrender. "Besides the Alya and Marinette origin, of course," He admitted, then turned to Marinette. "But do you remember the first time we met?"

"It was a while ago, and I was like fourteen. It was within the first year you and Ladybug became heroes, I believe," Marinette recalled. "One of my friends was akumatized, and he only wanted to go on a date with me. Ladybug told you what she knew, and you came to work out a plan with me. Also, we would have never gotten out of that box he put us in if it weren't for my quick thinking!" Marinette smiled widely.

"That's right!" He nodded. "That was the first time an Akuma wanted to take a citizen on a date and not destroy them. So I, obviously, knew I had to help," Chat nodded heroically. "That was when fighting Hawkmoth was a bit easier..." He shook his head with a little laugh.

Marinette chuckled with him. "So I've seen on the news," She said. "Since we got our origin story out of the way...shall we start the video?"

"Oh, right!" Chat Noir jumped. "We're picking the base sketch and then completing an outfit, yes?"

With a nod, she opened her sketchbook to the pages bookmarked for this. "Since we know other Miraculous are possible with the extra help you and Ladybug have from time to time, I was inspired to make some more inspired designs with other animals," She introduced the pieces.

"The first one is based off a bunny, made for a female as I figured the style fit that more. I also have a kangaroo made for a male, and a cheetah that is gender-neutral," Marinette stated and flipped through the pages. "These are just base designs, as we do have much to add to any of them. Which one is your favorite?"

Chat Noir grabbed the sketchbook out of her hands slowly, jaw dropped. "These are base designs?" He asked. "These are all crazy good! Do you guys see these?" Chat Noir turned the sketchbook around to show the camera. "How am I ever going to choose?" He whispered, but still loud enough for the camera to pick up.

Marinette giggled as he flipped between the three pages, visibly having a hard time choosing. He took a deep breath and turned to Marinette again. "I love them all, as you can probably tell. But let's go with the cheetah, as it's gender-neutral, and everyone could enjoy it!" Chat Noir's smile grew, happy with his decision.

"Good thinking," Marinette said and took the sketchbook back from him. "The base design, like I said, could be fit for a female or a male Miraculous holder. It has the classic cheetah print design bodysuit, but there are quite a few things that make this a Miraculous suit."

Chat Noir nodded. "Do they have a special power, what's their item, and they need a catchphrase to activate their power," He asked, as well as confirmed.

"That's what we are going to find out as I continue to create the suit!" Marinette told him, flipping to a new page in her sketchbook and picking up her favorite pencil.

As Marinette drew the new design, Chat Noir began coming up with a story for their made-up Miraculous holder. He was having way too much fun creating a story for the Cheetah Miraculous, even giving them a character voice and a hero name. Marinette drew according to what he was saying, laughing along with him as he told his story.

Once he finished the story, Marinette turned the sketchbook around to show Chat Noir and the camera. It was the completed drawing, with the hero's name at the top, and the catchphrase next to them. The here's name being "CC," their miraculous object being a bracelet, and the powering being super speed.

Chat Noir's jaw dropped as he dramatically gasped. "Oh...my gosh," He grabbed the sketchbook carefully. "Marinette, this is beautiful."

"Thank you. I bow," She said. "But it would not have been this good without the story of the character- that's what really made it!"

"Look at what we made!" Chat Noir showed the camera, shaking the sketchbook to make it more intense. "Well, she made. I just talked the whole time. But it still looks awesome! Can I have a copy to frame?" Chat asked.

Marinette chuckled. "Sure," She said and turned to look at the camera directly. "But I think that's going to be the end of the video! Thank you so much for coming to make this video with me, Chat Noir, it means a lot, and I can't wait to see what the fans say! "That was so much fun. Thank you for having me join you!" Chat Noir told Marinette once the camera cut off.

"Of course. This was awesome," Marinette told him and saw out of the corner of her eye, Alya was making a weird face. "What's that look for?"

Alya clenched her teeth. "Remember what we talked about before Chat Noir got here? Yeah...I take it back. You're definitely going to have shippers."

Marinette rolled her eyes and groaned. "Sorry, Chat. You're already shipped with Ladybug so much; now you'll be associated with me. My fans are kind of obsessed with shipping."

Chat Noir laughed and stood up. "It's okay; I'm used to it. Besides, it's all in good fun," He shrugged. "But I should get going, I've got to meet up with Ladybug tonight and have to take a break before then," He said. "But I really do want a copy of the drawing, and I can't wait to see the video when it's finished!" He smiled and walked closer to the trap door. "It was nice to see both of you again, and hopefully we can make another video!"

Alya waved awkwardly as Marinette said 'goodbye,' and Chat Noir propelled himself out of the door. Once he was gone, Marinette looked to Alya. "Do you really think people are going to go crazy over this?"

"One hundred percent."

MY LOOKBOOK

Finally my lookbook has arrived!

I am so impressed with the gorgeous matte lustre paper it has been printed on as well as the hardback covers. It feels very professional. Let me share a few pages with you and discuss some of my final designs.

Eyes were one of the big drawing feats I accomplished for this project - so it seemed relevant I display them in my book. I used an eye drawing and edited it into the colour palette my book would use, which since I am so funny I had to of course call an eyeshadow palette. Ignore my trampy half chipped nails, I’m having a hard time.

I paste into heart shapes with my fabric selection to create a simple yet descriptive page of the sort of materials used to create my range.

In between pages just hinted at the theme - for my last project I loved my lookbook but felt it was a little bit overboard. Although it did convey a theme, I could have pulled back a bit and perhaps been more subtle. I feel like this holds a bit more class, even with the swear words.

Everything’s fucked was based on an overheard comment from a borderline personality group I was in where a man who spoke up in desperation was instructed to basically shut up and now wasn’t the time to be emotional. The quilted kitty design would also feature the comment made by this “BPD specialist” and a large peter pan style collar would have FUCKED embroidered across it.

The dress next to it “cushioning the blow” was designed as a safety suit for days you’re feeling a bit fragile, so plastic filed with pom poms (taking on the properties of those big inflatable plastic sheets you get in with fragile items off amazon), would be good if you fell over, cus you would bounce back up.

The bunny suit was a bit of a joke one I fell in love with and ended up producing the beret off. It was supposed to be the serious version of a onesie, so for anyone in the mood to be a boss bitch in added cute comfort. It plays on the oxymoron of cute aggression by adding humour and sweetness to an outfit destined for big meetings and serious shit.

I actually produced this outfit on the left, which features the “growing up is shit” jacket and the “it’s my party” dress. The jacket is based on a shadow box (boxes created to display important and often personal items), so the back has a large heart shaped pocket that you can display bits and pieces in. I displayed toys in mine, which fits in with the theme of rubbish childhoods - a key factor in borderline personality types. I also hand painted the sleeves in borderline themed tattoo prints. The party dress showcases pom pom puff sleeves, a hand embroidered skirt and large “PISS OFF” bow - it was based on a party dress I had as a young girl, but because I can’t deal with emotions I always used to cry at my birthday til my mum stopped doing parties for me because I would just hide under the stairs.

Next to it is the “what’s inside a girl” dress, which is based on a grayson perry vase that features a person with their anatomy displayed and labelled as everything that’s going on inside them. I wanted mine to be oversized and strange and feature body parts with what’s going on inside me written on them - so stuff like anxiety, self hatred, comfort eating and paranoia. The rib cage is detachable and has a heart shaped toggle underneath it.

World’s worst mother was based on doctors opinions when I had my first diagnosis. I was originally diagnosed with schizophrenia and found that a majority of specialists were just concerned if I had children and if so was I safe to be a parent. This doubt will stick with me for life now (thanks doctors) that I will never be a decent enough Mum as I blatantly can’t really look after myself. So I thought, what’s better than showing how shite you would be as a parent than having a hairy coat with decapitated kids all over it?!

Bad Hair Day focuses on identity and the need to be different - I have had dyed hair since the age of twelve and have always used it as a subtle way to express myself. I took this one step further with bad hair day and paired it with a hair spray can bag and giant hair barrettes.

The Coat of many Fuck Offs is basically everyday abrasiveness - I think it’s pretty self descript for moments when you just want to be left the fuck alone. Pearls of wisdom is based on those sexy strip teases you get where people pop the balloons, except it’s not sexy, and no one gets nude, and instead you just have to listen to bad advice such as shutting off your friends and family and over analysing everything, which i’m sure is sexy to some.

I also included my own tattoo designs in with the book, on an actual transferable tattoo sheet.
