Titanopsis calcarea
This member of the Aizoaceae, or Ice Plant Family, has truly remarkable leaves - pale turquoise lower down and covered with tuercles at the tips - as though the lizard-gods had a hand in creating it. The yellow flowers in winter are a great addition, and the bee in the photo is quite captivated. From central South Africa, in the eastern part of Northern Cape Province and the western end of Orange Free State.

Nananthus pallens
Nananthus is a small genus of dwarf succulents in the Ice Plant Family (Aizoaceae), native to the central part of South Africa. The genus is related to Aloinopsis and Titanopsis, and hybrids are sometimes made between plants in these groups. Nananthus pallens is notable for its blue-green leaves covered with “goose bumps”, and its yellow flowers in fall make a great addition.
