I respect Rebel Moon's sole purpose of showing us funky sci fi settings. I just think The Croods did it better.

I watched Rebel Moon and I don't know exactly but it feels like there was a kernel of a really great movie trapped in a lot of chaotic writing and poor character development and A LOT of slow motion shots?

My toxic trait is that I had a lot of fun watching Rebel Moon and idk why people are so hard on it.
Tumblr media
I know it’s not one of the greatest sci fi movies ever. It wears its inspirations on its sleeve and Snyder as a writer has… limitations. But it was a cool fun space adventure that was a refreshing new IP with fun ideas and cool visuals.

I know of my other Shakespeare genre polls only the comedy one is really blowing up, but I thought I'd go counterintuitive and make an even more obscure category. Some of these claims are more substantiated than others, of course-- put your own collaboration theories in the tags if you've got em.
Shakespeare poll tag, for all the different genres!

i have 10 shakespeare plays left that i have not read
#of the 38 canon texts#fewer if you dont consider two noble kinsmen to be an official work?#bc it's coauthored and not included in the first folio#i read timon of athens this week#i read 11 shakespeare plays THIS YEAR. i thought i was gonna leave it at 10#but i liked the odds better if i read more this year than i had left to complete#tales from diana#i really do not know why i was so voracious reading shakespeare. well yes i do. i was lonely#and seldom left the house#much like i did the first year when i owned the riverside shakespeare and was reading at a similar rate#i guess i also got into the frenzy of 'omg i can complete this soon'#whereas when i was younger i was reading for the joy of it. skipping in any order i wanted to#this year i finally read a bunch of the plays that i felt like i cant believe i hadnt yet. you know?#knocking things off the canon. and some of the texts i still have to read#im like 'i cant believe i havent yet'#my order has been pretty arbitrary#i cant believe i havent read TITUS ANDRONICUS yet ive been wanting to read that since i first got the riverside.#that play has always interested in me especially with its bad reputation#there are just other plays i *did* read first.#i dont know which one ill read next. i think ill finish david copperfield first#ill probably still read other plays in between the rest of what i have of david copperfield (less than 300 pages)#but not shakespeare. i need to detox.#you hear that william? youre toxic#im slippin under the taste of your poison paradise#ill probably read mary queen of scots got her head chopped off by liz lochhead. its been in my bed#since it came in the mail. lol#thank you thriftbooks free book reward~

in the ep where Lucy retains her decency while embracing her grit ("Golden Rule, motherfucker"), Cooper is reminded with deep shame of the moment he lost his - filming the scene of shooting a man who was down and begging. like he was (well, down but not begging lol) when Lucy showed him mercy.
and that scene--the betrayal of everything cooper felt was sincere in the pop culture art he made--was Hank's favorite... he's an empty man, a soulless creature of the corporation, and knows no shame for hurting people who can't fight back
the whole show is imo about what it MEANS to be a knight or a cowboy - what does it mean to hold power and believe it's for good reasons, but at the end of the day it's still *power*
that's why it's important to me that "Golden Rule, motherfucker" is not "i'm too Soft and Gentle to hurt anyone uwu!" it's "when I have the power, I use it according to MY ETHICS, bitch!" it's a complete victory rather than the "victory" of surrendering to the logic and behavior Cooper kept trying to push her into. it's about the nature of power and what is possible with it.
which brings me to Max. he, like Lucy, wants power and to do good things with it. but what does that mean? power is fun (his joy at escaping Titus and the imo very real threat of torture and death - his joy at the power armor), but, though he started to enjoy bullying the guy who had bullied him - then the guy showed throat and Max realized how not fun it is to have absolute control over someone like that, sadism isn't actually his bag like it was for Titus. and he's very unenthused about his rise in rank at the end... the Brotherhood chapter you meet in Fallout 3 are led by okay people - it's not impossible for that to happen. but will Max be able to manage it w/ people like the head scribe leaning on him? will Dane help or hinder Max in trying to have both power & decency?
what will it mean--given they've symbolically EXCHANGED FINGERS & become part of each other--for Lucy to relate to her shadow & Cooper to remember his decency? them on the road and Max & Dane trying to make things work with the Brotherhood is gonna be FASCINATING
all three leads are each struggling with the same thematic questions about power and whether you can be a "good guy" with it - an honorable cowboy, a noble knight, or if the world (& organizations you're part of) must strip that away from you - and i LOVE it

It’s time for the Potted Fanon History One True Heir, Robin V: DAMIAN WAYNE!
Damian, conception: Talia seduced Bruce and they were married under Special League of Assassins Law. Talia got pregnant and hid it from Bruce. She may have told him she had a miscarriage or she may just have not mentioned anything.
Damian, birth: might be natural, might be an artificial womb. Either way, immediately inducted into the Order of Assassins.
Damian, small child: Damian is raised in Nanda Parbat speaking Arabic. He may also be called Ibn al Xu’ffasch by ordinary assassins. Talia is highly involved in his training and he is learning to assassin.
Damian, small child: Talia either tells him stories of his noble father in Gotham City who he must earn his right to meet OR won’t tell him anything until he earns his right to find out.
Damian, small child: being a small assassin in training involves many terrible tests he must face, most of them with the word ‘Blood’ or ‘Shadow’ in the title and which involve people beating him up or him killing small animals. Damian refuses to kill the animals.
Damian, 6-7: encounters Jason while Jason is also with the League. They train together with knives. May call each other brother.
Damian, child: Damian is taught many things by his tutors and has a university level understanding of dozens of different topics. He’s just that smart. (If it’s convenient for the plot he knows it)
Damian, 9-10: finally he is told he has met enough tests to deserve to meet his father. Talia takes him to Gotham.
Damian, 9-10: anxious to price his worthiness to be Robin and his father’s heir, Damian immediately sets out to kill Tim to prove his superiority and right to be Robin. That’s how it works in the League of Assassins after all!
Damian, 9-10: Ra’s Al Ghul tries to kidnap Damian to take over his body. This fails and Damian is rescued by the Bats. (It is unclear where Damian has been living)
Damian, 9-10: Bruce dies. Dick is worried Damian will run back to the League as Bruce isn’t around so he makes Damian Robin. If we do Battle for the Cowl Damian rescues Tim and Tim is ungrateful about this.
Damian, 10: Dick and Damian are Batman and Robin. They save each other a lot. Damian comes to trust Dick and think of him like a father. They’re the greatest team ever.
Damian, 10: Tim comes back and Damian discovers Tim still does not trust him! This is unfair! He’s worked so hard with Dick to learn to be Robin! Damian immediately starts trying to kill Tim again (cuts his line).
Damian, 10: gets injured and his spine is replaced with METAL.
Damian, 10: Damian gets his own Batgirl, Stephanie. She is now acting as his babysitter every time they have to do anything public, but she acts fun about it.
Damian, 10: Bruce comes back. Initially Damian stays his his real father, Dick, but Bruce eventually takes back over as Batman. Damian resents this. Dick stays living at the Manor to smooth things over.
Damian, 10: Damian gets a pet cat Alfred and a pet Dog Titus and a pet cow Batcow and a pet turkey Jerry and he’s a vegetarian and he just loves animals so much. Nobody else (except Dick and Alfred) are allowed near his pets.
Damian, 10: Damian is now getting along with Jason, who is now an anti-hero, or he’s excited to be reunited with Jason who he recalls from the League of Assassins. Jason has never tried to kill Damian. Damian still gets into constant fights with Tim.
Damian, 10: Damian dies as Robin. It was heroic. Everyone mourns him deeply. Bruce immediately starts trying to resurrect him.
Damian, 10: Damian is resurrected. Dick cries a lot and they hug.
Damian, 10-12: Damian meets Jon Kent! They are immediate best friends called the Super Sons who hang out together all the time and get into trouble and go on adventures. This is far cooler than the Teen Titans.
Damian, 10-12: Damian has an adventure where he meets Goliath, a furry red dragon bat.
Damian, 12-13: even though Super Sons is cooler, Damian ALSO leads a Teen Titans team despite being the youngest by a very long way. How hard could it be? Dick and Tim have done it. Who is on this team? Big shrug, they’re not Jon.
Damian, currently: Damian is Robin and working in Gotham with Bruce as his Batman. He goes out with Dick to patrol quite often. His single only friend is Jon, who is also still a teen, unless someone has decided Colin Wilkes is around. He still considers that his life goal is to grow up to be Batman.

"rebel moon is just a bunch of disjointed character intros with no substance---"
[loud fart noise in your face]
Anyway, what connects all of the characters together is Honor, a major theme of the movie. It's the reason that These People In Particular are all chosen, beyond their reputations or even their skill sets (which are still important).
What does your personal honor look like? How do you uphold it? What do you do when you lose your honor? Can you ever truly regain it once it's lost? Can you find redemption, or is revenge the closest thing you can get? Can revenge and honor ever be the same?
After her indoctrination and service in the Imperium, Kora deserts, but it's for her survival, not the recovery of her honor. That's the journey she's currently on in the defense of her new home and the people there, triggered by the conflict of choosing her personal safety or rescuing Sam from further assault. She found the line of her honor and refused to ignore it any longer.
Gunnar placed personal gain over maintaining a united front about the grain surplus. His dishonorable actions lead to Sindri getting killed and their village placed under the Imperium's thumb. Noble's culpability aside, Gunnar feels responsible for his role in all this and seeks to make amends. It's why he's the only one who jumps in to protect the child from potential collateral damage in Nemesis' fight with Harmada. He is transitioning from being a selfish character to being more selfless, defining what he wants his personal honor to be.
Speaking of Nemesis, she is the most samurai-coded character here, complete with their version of honor. Her failure at being able to protect her children drives her to defend others, and shoulder the burden of killing once a peaceful resolution cannot be reached. It's why she has an entire conversation with Harmada, to understand what drives her, to attempt to find common ground and shared empathy. It's why she fights first with naked steel, to try to convince Harmada to back off, to value her own life, and it's for the lives of others that she finally ignites her blades when she cannot. Nemesis is not an emotionless cyborg who assassinates in cold blood, but one who is deeply attuned to her pain and that of others.
Tarak is a prince, and yet we learn he's nowhere near his home or his people. Whether he's failed them or abandoned them (or feels like he has) is still a mystery, but we still know that he is an honorable man, regarding his servitude to Hickman with utter seriousness. Tarak will honor his word and any agreements once given, including a life debt, and his connection with nature both demonstrates and resonates his nobility. He even has the whole "honor them" speech to Millius, revealing that he knows the guilt of surviving when all the friends you swore to fight beside are now gone.
General Titus fought proudly for the Imperium until his honor wouldn't allow him to stomach their methods. The price for that included his men's lives, his station, and his dignity. Unable to protect any of it including his ideals, he turns to drink and hopes fighting as a gladiator to the death does the rest. And yet, he cannot bring himself to just lay down and die. He dwells on his mistakes but does not succumb to them. The kernel of honor was still within him, and it's no wonder Kora and the other idealists at her back were able to ignite it again.
Jimmy is from an order of robotic knights, who all laid down their arms in dishonor and disgrace when the Imperium's royal family was murdered. He embodies old and forgotten chivalry, and in case you missed that, they got Anthony Hopkins to voice him. These knights haven't fought back since, even when they are attacked---and yet Jimmy retaliates to protect Sam before himself, finding something honorable to fight for again.
Darrian Bloodaxe has his honor as a rebellion leader tested and rightly concludes that the revolution is meaningless if they will not come to the aid of the most defenseless among them. (But he and his men die anyway!) Indeed, that is the point. Hedging your bets and picking your battles might be the smartest option, but it's not the most noble or honorable. Honor, in case you haven't noticed, often demands a choice and a price.
And yes, even our villains share in this theme in their own twisted ways. Kai is a mirror to Gunnar, but where Gunnar is growing into being a less opportunistic person, Kai is deliberately shrouding his true intentions from the get-go. At Kai's betrayal, Kora demands after his honor, to which Kai dryly replies, "What did happen to it." It isn't a question. Kai long ago saw honor as a death sentence and chose survival over everything, and in an ironic twist, is killed once he tries to tempt Gunnar into choosing his own survival over Kora's. Like Kora before him, Gunnar finds his line that he will not cross as well as what he fights for.
Finally, there's Atticus Noble, who wields the honorable memory of the Slain King and his dishonorable death as a blunt weapon against all that isn't the Imperium, much like his cane. The one time the Imperium was gracious, and they were betrayed for it. Never again, and everyone will suffer for this humiliation until the Imperium's honor is restored---and it never will be. Because honor is not the point; conquest and control is. Revenge is the point.
Literally all of this is in the film btw. But then, I wasn't fast-forwarding or looking down at my phone the whole time or playing Paint By Numbers: Star Wars Edition. I was actually watching the goddamn movie and letting it tell me its story. And then I reflected on it afterward. Whooooaaa!

Noble OCs - Anastasia’s bodyguards
Paradiso nobles can’t fight at all. Their clan is the only non-combat clan in Lukedonia. For this reason, Clan Leaders and heirs are protected by bodyguards at all times.
This time I’ll introduce five bodyguards from Anastasia Faye Paradiso’s team of more than twenty.
For complete info please check out the link below:
I also introduced what the bodyguards do exactly in a previous post so here’s the context (highly recommended):
The characters!
Topaz Agvain: Captain. Belongs to Raskreia’s generation.
Topaz is practical and flexible. She gets along with all of her subordinates and often asks for their opinion on matters before making final decisions because she believes that a good leader is part of the team and not just someone who gives orders from the top. Her subordinates sometimes even try to remind her that she’s their captain and they’ll listen to whatever she orders of them, but she insists on gathering everyone’s input. Even Topaz occasionally forgets that she is their captain.
Topaz is the youngest captain to ever exist in the entire history of Paradiso bodyguards. She’s even younger than Anastasia whom she serves. The nobles think she’s too young to be the captain of a Paradiso bodyguard team, but they later understand why she is in such a position because she does an excellent job. Perhaps her flexibility is due to her age since she doesn’t see things the way the older generations do, and it’s probably for the better. Not everyone needs to be a Primavera.
Topaz is committed to protecting Anastasia, but back then she didn’t apply as a bodyguard because she truly felt passionate about being one. Her parents pressured her into it. Directly serving the Paradiso as a bodyguard is extremely prestigious and they wanted their daughter to aim for it. Topaz loves her parents, so she put aside everything she had been working for up until now and gave up her dream of becoming a diplomat to train herself instead. Her application was a success and she eventually landed herself a spot in Anastasia’s team. Topaz went home to share the good news with her parents. Instead of being proud of her, they screamed at her, because apparently if she were more competent, she would’ve been placed into Titus’ team instead. Serving the Clan Leader means much more than serving one of the heirs, they said. Topaz was devastated and shut herself inside her room and cried nonstop for a whole week. Soon, she left home and started working. Things didn’t get better even after she separated herself from that environment. She’d tear up whenever she thought about how her parents responded to her achievement that they forced her to work towards in the first place. Her coworkers didn’t understand why this girl seemed so sad, but they didn’t ask in order stay polite.
Topaz admires Anastasia and broke into tears when the latter asked if she wants to be friends, since they’ll be seeing each other around quite a bit from now on. Anastasia noticed how her newest bodyguard seemed a bit somber and wanted to offer her comfort. Topaz eventually explains her situation to Anastasia and laments how she threw away her dreams to impress people who she thought loved her back, and admits that she can’t quit either because there is nowhere for her to go back to anymore. Anastasia sits down next to Topaz and reassures her that the Paradiso will be her new home now, and promises that she’ll always be here for her, not just as whom she serves but as her companion as well. Topaz starts crying even more. Anastasia and Topaz are great friends in the present day.
Topaz entered the team as an ordinary member and rose through the ranks very quickly. She became vice-captain within a few months, and got promoted to captain in two years. Topaz is an all-rounder fighter and boasts impressive offense and defense.
Topaz’ weapon of choice is a glaive.
Otieno Blerster: Vice-captain. Belongs to the Previous Lord’s generation.
Otieno used to be captain, and now he’s back to being vice-captain. He saw the potential in Topaz and suggested to Anastasia that they should switch with each other because he had a feeling that the young girl would do a great job. Anastasia approved, and Otieno is vice-captain once again. It’s nice to have the youngsters be in charge because they know better than most people these days. Besides, it’ll be great to get to chill a bit because captain duties have gone to someone else already. He’s not going to say that out loud though.
Otieno volunteered as a bodyguard because he had a debt to repay to Titus. His parents regretted having him and often neglected his needs, and never hesitated to tell him that he’s unwanted. They called him names and even told him that he’s the reason for their shortened lifespans despite being the ones who decided to have him in the first place. Otieno left home early because he didn’t feel safe there. From a young age, he had been all alone and had to fend for himself. Titus noticed a sulking Otieno loitering around in Minerva and concluded that this young boy seemed like he had no place to go. Titus didn’t ask any questions and personally instructed one of his Keepers to find a place for the boy to stay inside the tower. It didn’t take more than an hour for them to make arrangements. A very surprised Otieno receives a key to a nice, cozy room of his own. A safe place that belongs to him. There’s no one to yell at him or tell him he’s an eyesore here. Titus then showed himself and greeted the boy, and told him that he can stay here for as long as he wishes. Otieno is forever grateful and promised Titus that he’ll repay his kindness one day. Titus just chuckled and walked away humming.
Otieno kind of just helped around the library until Titus’ twins were born, and the Paradiso needed two more bodyguard teams. Otieno saw this as his opportunity to repay Titus and immediately took action. Otieno trained himself rigorously and eventually qualified as a Paradiso bodyguard and joined the team. His specialty is his impressive long-ranged senses and his role is to be on lookout for everyone. He is excellent with his bow and arrow and never misses anything he shoots at.
Otieno adores Anastasia and he watched her grow up. As a kid, she used to ride on his shoulders while grabbing onto his bright blonde hair. He carried her around when she got tired from playing and read books to her when she felt bored. To this day, Otieno keeps a small ocarina fastened around his waist because Anastasia loves listening to him play the instrument.
Otieno’s weapon of choice is longbow.
Naranja Elenor: Member. Belongs to Raskreia’s generation.
Naranja is smart. While Captain Primavera from Team Titus prefers the old fashioned “pick him up and run” approach for evacuation drills, Naranja is more innovative. She sets up invisible teleportation circles all over Lukedonia for Anastasia to use if there ever is an emergency. They’re idle until Anastasia decides to activate them, and they are designed to respond to her aura only. This is a safety measure to prevent anyone else from using them in case someone tries to abuse the system for whatever reasons. This makes evacuation drills so much easier and faster because no more running around everywhere. Of course, that’s an option too, though it’s the last resort. Titus is envious when he looks at his daughter’s team, while Primavera just comments on how magic is “unreliable” and the best way to get to safety is by running. That’s just Primavera’s prejudice against magic in general and she blames it on young people “taking too many shortcuts”. What she doesn’t know is that Anastasia’s team practices the classic run-for-your-lives drill as well. Of course Naranja is aware that having both is an option. Duh. The more the merrier.
Hand-to-hand combat may not be Naranja’s specialty, but she’s very good at figuring out how to set up her magic for the greater good. That’s how she got recruited without being a melee expert. Naranja is so grateful that their Captain Topaz is very open-minded and never nags anyone when she is uncertain about something. Well, the average age of her team members is much lower than that of Primavera’s, so of course they would be more welcoming of creativity.
Naranja volunteered as a bodyguard simply because she liked it as a career choice and it’s optimal in every way. Don’t have to work in a big group akin to mini society, don’t have to work alone either. The perfect balance for someone like her. Besides, her talent for magic circles will be useful. Anastasia seemed like she’d be a nice boss too. Naranja is very picky about who she works for and won’t easily compromise this aspect of her preferences. Anastasia is friendly and reasonable, and Naranja likes her easygoing nature. A good job and a good boss, who will say no to that.
Naranja tries her best to not looked tired but maintaining her teleportation circles does drain quite a big chunk of her energy. Anastasia is aware of this situation and tells her loyal bodyguard that it should be okay to turn off her magic for a bit. Naranja refuses and insists that they need to stay alert at all times, and keeping the magic circles there is her job. Anastasia just stuffs Naranja with candies and cakes as her way of showing appreciation for her employee’s dedication.
Naranja is also very good at offensive spells. She can blast holes into mountains if she wants to. She’d gladly do so if Anastasia orders her to “clear the path”, though that probably won’t happen because it’s unnecessary. Eh, who knows, maybe Anastasia would like to watch the sunset for a few more minutes and getting rid of the mountain ranges blocking out the light is the way to go about it.
Naranja doesn’t carry a weapon because her magic is her weapon. But, she sometimes uses one too, and her weapon of choice is darts.
Jaakob Landegre: Member. Belongs to Gejutel’s generation.
Jaakob used to be a member of Titus’ bodyguard team but the latter transferred him to Anastasia after she was born. Jaakob’s a great person and an expert at his job, so Titus entrusted him with giving a “head start” to his daughter’s team. This means that Jaakob is Anastasia’s very first employee, and all of the other bodyguards were recruited after him.
Jaakob is the oldest person of his team. He’s the odd one out by age and everyone calls him “Grandpa Jaakob”, and he’s quite happy with it. Primavera thinks this is inappropriate and she insists that members should call each other by their full names because that’s the standard protocol. If that’s how she wants to manage her team, then so be it. Topaz isn’t going to enforce this rule on her subordinates and Anastasia agrees with her. Anastasia likes it when her bodyguards are casual with each other because she sees no need to be so strict with sticking to old traditions. If everyone is family here, of course some affection will come through. Even Anastasia calls Jaakob “Grandpa” and treats him as she would with her real grandfather if she had one. Jaakob adores the youngsters and refers to them as his kids. He doesn’t have any kids of his own and he’s more than happy to figuratively adopt his younger coworkers.
Jaakob is always smiling. His smile never changes. It’s impossible to tell if he’s happy, neutral, or upset. He even smiles as he’s bringing down an enemy. Speaking of which, Jaakob is great at offense. He is capable of fighting off multiple strong enemies on his own and never wastes any of his moves. He only aims for the vital parts and gets the deed done very quickly. He doesn’t even wipe his enemies’ splattered blood off his face after he finishes them off and just waits for it to dry up and fall off on its own. No one has seen Jaakob kill anyone as there hasn’t been a situation or emergency where it was necessary, but they’re all curious. Jaakob recounts tales from the old days when he accompanied Titus on their journeys through the more dangerous areas of the world in search of rare literature, and describes in detail how he mercilessly eliminated the enemies that stood in their way. Cool Grandpa Jaakob.
Jaakob is alert and walks in front of Anastasia whenever they are going somewhere, though that’s also because Titus tripped himself all the time. Poor Grandpa Jaakob thinks that Anastasia will trip herself just like her weird ol’ dad. It’s okay, Anastasia has a way better balance. Jaakob is still very cautious and he’s always ready to catch Anastasia if she falls. He’s just worried for her. Aww.
Jaakob’s weapon of choice is a longsword.
Haizea Mergas: Member. Belongs to Raskreia’s generation.
Haizea is quite shy. She stammers a lot and needs to try seven to eight times before she can successfully say “Yes Captain” without any pauses or breaks. Captain Topaz is very understanding and lets Haizea know that she can just do a hand gesture instead and that’ll substitute for a verbal confirmation. Topaz doesn’t want to stress out her subordinate by making her mentally rehearse her sentences over and over again because it’s simply unnecessary. Again, Primavera would be judging Topaz for being too lenient. As long as Haizea is comfortable, who cares? It’s not like they admit members based on verbal eloquence.
Haizea is sweet. She’s constantly checking in with her colleagues and asking if they need help with anything. Her fellow bodyguards care for her as well and would remind her that they are of equal rank so she doesn’t have to tend to them as she would with a superior.
Haizea volunteered as a bodyguard because she is in love with Anastasia. They met as children when Haizea visited Minerva with her parents and a very enthusiastic Anastasia held the shy girl’s hands and showed her around. They became best friends for the day. As of today, Anastasia doesn’t remember meeting Haizea, but the latter can recall the memory as if it was yesterday. Haizea tries to ignore her growing feelings for Anastasia to no avail, and ultimately decides to follow her heart. All she desires is to stand next to her childhood crush. Haizea is aware that Anastasia likes Seira, and she’s fine if Anastasia never returns her feelings. She’ll just guard her love from a distance and wish for her happiness. That is all she needs to be fulfilled. Haizea’s favorite flower is cherry blossoms because they remind her of Anastasia.
Haizea is very good with barrier spells. Her barriers can withstand attacks from all members of her team combined. She also makes small portable barrier charms for her colleagues and Anastasia to carry around. These barrier charms are single-use and active themselves automatically in the presence of danger.
Haizea’s weapon of choice is a mace.

Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver Spoilers!!
- I AM HURT
- Really liked the camaraderie moments between the team, particularly with Tarak and Titus, and with Milius. I feel like there could have been more. Tarak was definitely carrying those moments.
- Nemesis my love!!! I was not expecting to be so emotionally affected by her backstory and performance! The parts with that little Aryan kid were so cute 🥺
- There were so many shots of them harvesting the grain lol. They really got their worth planting that field of wheat.
- But also they really could have dropped the grain talk at some point. I don’t think that dreadnought really needed it... They could have just sacked one of the other planets they recently visited if they needed food? Or stopped by one of the other planets on the way back to the Motherworld? This wouldn’t have bothered me at all if they didn’t keep bringing it up
- The five days deadline really felt like it could at least have been two weeks or something. They really needed more than a few days to teach the villagers how to fight.
- Some of the dialogue was a bit stilted. Like. “Remember when I told you all these things from the first movie, well, here they are again in case the viewer hasn’t seen part one?”
- Sam and Aris. Heart eyes motherfuxker!!!
- Kora’s tragic backstory!!! I knew it was a let’s stab Caesar situation but I was really hoping it wouldn’t be Kora involved in actually killing anyone. Issa 🥺
- “I forgive you.” “Don’t” 🫠
- The hurt on Kora’s face when Balisarius and the senators are screaming at her. AND I just worked out why they made a big deal about her being an offworlder. Balisarius needed the assassin to be an offworlder to continue invading other worlds
- Ok but why was there a live orchestra at the assassination… shouldn’t they want fewer people present as possible?
- I don’t know why I didn’t realise Jimmy was short for James 😭 But when Kora kept calling him James, it was giving parent calling child by their full name vibes
- Gunnar and Kora ❤️💔
- I’m getting vibes from Cassius and Noble… like gay vibes. Cassius feels a little too devoted to him?
- Noble not falling for Aris’s charade at all lol
- I didn’t get the Noble doing an Olivia Colman accent in the first movie but it’s really obvious here.
- Those woven blankies Sam made for everyone were so cute
- Everyone in that village was indistinguishable from each other. I really felt nothing when those peeps were getting shot down
- I did breathe a sigh of a relief when Sindri oop I meant Hagen Sindri got bonestaffed in part I was shown to be OK though. Can’t shoot the old guy.
- Den just got yeeted off a ship after an admirable admiral-killing attempt 😂 RIP. No back-up love interest for Kora.
- That last hour of action was so flipping good
- Jimmy’s entrance & stare down moment 😏😘
- The moment between Kora & the Kali when it’s eyes opened.
- I didn’t mean to laugh when Gunnar went sliding past Kora when the ship was tilting but I kinda did lol
- Also when Noble said “fucking farmers” I was like lol are they allowed to swear in this cut. I swear that was the only swear word.
- Kora killing Noble again was so satisfying
- “Why can’t I have this one thing?” Nooooo how dare you 😭😭😭
- (Someone should wellness check the Michiel Huisman blogs btw)
- Devra rocking up. Yes girl thank you 🙏🏻
- Gunnar’s burning heart flag at the funeral. It hurts.
- Kora owning up to her identity and Titus just being like, yeah.
- That reveal was. Holy cow. Does that mean Balisarius is keeping Issa in a room somewhere? 🫠🫠 Is her life force being used like the Kali??
- The soundtrack. Phenomenal. 10/10. No notes.
- I need the extended cuts
- I NEED PART THREE!!!!!
- And yes, I know we probably aren’t getting it but please Netflix 🙏🏻
- (Have I mentioned I am hurt??)
