October is coming to a close and I'm making one last dash towards completing as many things as I can. Meanwhile, here's a drawing of Toa Matoro being reborn as a Toa Ignika. Neither design is canon, as this Matoro is essentially a taller version of his Kolhiitoran self, and Ignika himself is also based more on a toa of Psionics' colorscheme than what it had in 2008. Still, I love how this turned out

Toa Ignika, the Razor's Edge

They call me the toa of life. I was born from the swamps in the core of the universe, my body assembled by sheer force of will.

I don’t know if that will is truly my own, or if it’s the secret hopes of a dead man lingering in the fold. In that respect, I am not unlike my fellow beings; silent, slumbering gods leave us all to wonder if our minds and hearts are really our own.

I am the mask of life, in that I am the face nature wears. The flesh of plants hardened into metal, the chemicals of the world below bubble in my chest. I fight the makuta, I play toa, because I know the game is bigger than this. In the entropic dance of life, we are shadowed by our own decay. I know that from swamp I came, and to swamp I will return. The spiral of destiny must be maintained, for I am its rider, and I can be silent no more.

When my board streaks through the skies, they hear. I want them to hear me coming, because they fight for divine silence, the death of death. They do not hear the heartbeat of great spirit; they do not hear it dying. Everywhere I go, I hear it. I hear it in my own chest, I hear it in the cries of the gukko as they are stomped into the earth by rampaging kikanalo, and in the coos of their children as they stand on a ledge, waiting to take their first leap. His mind contains knowledge of far-off places, secrets that have never been told, stories whose forms would warp our minds. It calls to us, it tells us to fly. We are a part of that, and now it is but a whisper. I, am its last roar.

Unity, Duty, and Destiny are our guiding virtues in this mission of life. I have not forgotten them, nor have our dead. So long as we stand, so long as we fly, then the future endures. Yesterday, I was the answer, today I am the question.

A33: Favourite element?

I'm a secondary-elements guy myself, with Gravity, Magnetism, and Psionics all rating pretty highly, but I think the overall winner is (unsurprisingly) Plasma.

I like the idea of star-nuke-Toa that shoot lasers and wield lightsabers.

B22: Favourite soundtrack?

Can't go wrong with Movie 2. While I listen to the vocal tracks from later years more, they don't really form a coherent soundtrack without some proper visual media to tie it all together. But Legends of Metru Nui's soundtrack gets me right from the Miramax logo all the way to the credits.

C11: What character should have been given (another) physical set?

I have two answers for this, one for an ideal world, and one for the world we got.

Ideal World example: Teridax. The only set of him we have post in 2006-2009 scale is a possessed robot rather than actually being him, and IMO he deserved something on the scale of 2008 Takanuva and Titan Mata Nui.

On the other hand, it always bothered me that 2004-5 got zero representation in 2010, while we got two 09 sets (both of whom were still on shelves in some places). I recognise that almost every major character from those years was out of action by then, but excuses could've been made. They already had the Ignika devolve Tahu back to a Toa Mata for a 2001 reference, they can have it turn one of the Turaga back into a Toa Metru, or have the Vahi do it with time-wimey bullshit. Or fuck, finally pull the trigger on Toa Ahkmou being a thing after all these years.

So we know Toa Mata Nui's Toa form was similar to Toa Ignika's form because the Ignika based it after the last wearer

And Toa Ignika based his look after Matoro's Mahri or Ignika look

So in a sense even if Matoro ain't inside the Ignika he's still there in Toa Mata Nui or the Great Spirit entirely

I'm not gonna lie my immediate reaction was "wait are high school swim teams actually a thing" because in my area they exist as like. non-school stuff like at the sports center or whatever but not at actual schools. I've never been to a high school with a pool but presumably they do exist somewhere

I think when the Mahri stuff hits, honestly they just become even weirder. They were already weird as Toa go with the glowing eyes and the lightning thing but now they have, like, gills? Some of them have scales? Kongu's been trying to grow out his beard and for some reason it's got a weird chitinous texture? Jaller has made friends with a crab? Wait, aren't those invasive here?
