Panel redraw and some other fanart of Vash and Wolfwood!
I finally watched Trigun Stampede and I've fell into the deepest rabbit hole there ever is. I'm even reading the manga and Maximum broke my heart in the deepest of ways, so I had to sketch redraw some panels with the Stampede designs!
Also, my commissions are open ;)

Loving Vash was never easy. Trouble seemed to follow him with every step he took but no matter how bad things got you always stayed at his side, helping him escape or bandaging him up when things took a turn for the worse. When his head was resting on your chest, this old motel bed creaking with every move, he gently wrapped his arms around your torso and closed his eyes. The sound of your heartbeat in his ears was peaceful, helping him forget all the hardships that came with being the humanoid typhoon because he could be just Vash with you. “I wouldn't know what to do without you, mayfly” he mumbled into your soft skin before pressing a kiss to your naked chest, a little reminder of the way you two just shared a little slice of heaven. “I’d go crazy if I ever lose you” he added and looked up at you with a worried expression but the moment he saw your sweet smile it all seemed to evaporate. “The entire world would need to end for you to lose me, Vash. I love you” you reassured him, not planning on ever leaving this man's side until your final breath - which would come sooner than you'd think.
He never told you much about his brother except for the fact that he has one and you should never go look for him, even if the world is ending. He wouldn't mean anything good for you should he find out how dear you are to Vash, yet you found yourself face to face with the infamous Millions knives. Vash tried his best reaching you before his brother could but it was to no avail, his hand tightly around your throat, your feet no longer touching the ground beneath. “What do we have here? A little human lover?” He asked amused and squeezed your throat a little tighter as his gaze slowly shifted from your pitiful face to his brothers, smiling at how horrified he looked. “Please” Vash’s voice cracked when he saw you hanging there, your hands clawing at his brothers arms and hands, slowly getting weaker and weaker until you were dropped to the ground, unconscious from the lack of air. “Awh… is she dear to you? That fragile little human?” He cooed and lifted your limp body up by the arm, waving it at Vash while laughing menacingly as the humanoid Typhoon just stared, frozen to the ground as he had to watch his worst nightmare become reality right in front of him and all he could do was watch - unbeknownst to him, your fate was much worse than a simple death by his brothers hands, much worse than any nightmare he ever had that involved you.
Dragging you along behind him on the sandy ground, Nai took off, his brother following like a lost puppy and trying to reach you but each time he reached his hand out for you, his brother tugged your arm harshly so he wouldn't quite touch your ragged body. “Let me at least carry her” Vash begged but his brother didn't listen, lifting you off the ground effortlessly until he heard your shoulder crack, laughing a little at the noise “she's so fragile” he mused and watched you wake up from the pain your dislocated shoulder gave you, still hanging in the air, held by Nai. You couldn't even scream from how it hurt, the pain knocking you back into the unconscious state until you were tossed onto the ground at what Nai called his momentary home, staring his brother down. “Don't even think about touching her. I’ll make her suffer if you do” he threatened Vash and chained your ankle to some rubble of the broken facade of the building.
Shaking, he sat there, just out of reach of you and thinking of a way to get you out of here. Vash would do just about everything if it means saving you, even if it meant joining his brother and going against his own morals if you could walk out of here with only the wound on your shoulder which he couldn't prevent. When your eyes fluttered open you wanted to crawl to your lover, whimpering in pain as the tears brimmed your eyes and all you wanted was to be held by the blonde but each time you crawled forward, Vash took a step back “don't… hold still. Don't come closer… please” he pleaded with you, not wanting you to suffer the consequences that were unknown to you. “Oh, is the little girl awake? Good morning, doll” Nai hummed when he stepped in front of you, a look of pure hatred on your face. Seeing Vash freeze up the moment he saw his brother close to you made you want to protect your lover - even if you were the one needing protection at the moment. The older twin quickly sweeped you up by the dislocated arm, laughing when you grit your teeth in order not to make any noise, knowing it will only hurt Vash further and he suffered enough. You were strong. You wouldn't let him break you, no matter what.
Staying silent proved difficult when he pushed your joint back to its rightful place, giving you a pat on the head “there you go, I fixed you all up. Is that what my little brother did? Fix you? Perhaps your broken heart?” He asked amused, not having expected that Vash would actually love a human in this extreme way but Vash made the mistake of speaking up. “I didn't. She healed my heart” he admitted, having told you before that you're soothing all the wounds on his soul by loving him unconditional, that you let him be who he is without ever once using him for anything and for loving him despite the baggage he carried. His little comment made your captor laugh bitter. “Oh please. Did she suck your brain out of your dick?” He asked rhetorical and roughly squeezed your jaw which made you involuntary open your mouth to which he chuckled “looks like she wants to have a taste of me too, don't you think, brother dear?” He asked with a sick grin and stuffed his thumb into your mouth but you were dumb enough to bite him as hard as you could, angering him further. “You fucking-” he hissed, slapping you hard across the face, almost breaking your jaw with the sheer force behind the hit. Instead of tearing up you only glared at him, holding onto your bright red cheek and Vash moved to stand between the two of you, ready to fight his brother or risk his own life for you. You held onto his coat and pulled yourself up so you were standing, clutching onto him like a lifeline but Nai simply took the chain your ankle was secured to and pulled you closer as he laughed. “Hold onto her and I might rip her entire foot off. You know I'll do it” he warned and you let go of Vash to keep your limb. Only when you winced in pain he let go of you as well, a defeated look on his face when he realized that he couldn't even fight for you without risking your life.
Back in Nai’s clutch you kicked the hand that held your chain, making him scoff “don't kick the hand that's feeding you, little one. Your life is in my hands” he reminded you stern and fisted your hair to make you look up at him. “And you're mine now” he spoke cold to which you closed your eyes for a second and taking a deep breath before you had the courage to speak up “I'd rather be dead than to be yours” you spoke just as cold, hoping he’ll simply break your neck or slit your throat since you meant what you said but he started laughing at your words. “Oh darling I know. But that would be far too easy” he cooed and gave your head a pat again, not taking you serious - after all you were nothing to him and no matter how many times you kicked, scratched or bit him, nothing would change your pitiful position.
Your lover watched helplessly as the scene unfolded in front of him, regretting that he allowed you to get this close fo him, blaming himself for what you're going through and before he knew it, his hands were quite literally tied, making him unable to fight if he ever got out of this frozen state. It humiliated him that he couldn't save you but he knew his brother well enough that he wouldn't hesitate to give you the most gruesome death if he even tried to do anything. “I’ll do it. Just let her leave” he eventually spoke up when he couldn't take it any longer and Nai looked over to his younger twin “you'll do what?” He asked amused, wrestling you to the ground as he spoke without any effort, your body weak and bruised from the beating you had to take. “Everything. I don't care” Vash answered simple, willing to end humanity in exchange for your life but his brother was already a step ahead “then I want you to come over here and take her life. Watch how her life leaves her eyes by your own two hands” he states with a sick grin, knowing he won't do it. Vash's eyes widened at this and his jaw tensed up “spare her life. I don't care about anything else” he said serious but there was this crack in his voice which only showed just how weak he got because of you, making his older twin laugh loudly as he ripped the pants off of your almost lifeless body, Vash shaking his head “don't… please” he begged, unable to watch any further. It physically pained him to see you suffering like this - because of him. At this point you were far too weak to even attempt to fight back, even if Vash tried his hardest to free himself from the chains holding him back, screaming in anger and frustration when all he could do was watch you gasp for air as his brother parted your folds to spit on your entrance before sinking himself into you. You didn't mean to make a sound, wanting to spare your lover's heart but the pained cry of the way another man just forced himself into your velvet walls left your lips, a single tear slipping out of your eye and slowly rolling over your bruised cheek before landing on the dusty floor. All you could do was close your eyes, your cheek brushing against the floor with each thrust you had to endure, forcing yourself not to scream or cry but when Nai fisted your hair and forced you to look at Vash, a cry of pain slipped out and you could hear the amusement in his brothers voice when he spoke up “did you hear that, Vash? I think she's enjoying it” he grunted, only thrusting harder into you. Your body jolted with each impact of his hips against yours until it finally came to a stop, the spurts of cum inside of you made this situation so much more real - you were no longer Vash's mayfly, you're tainted by his brother, you belong to him now.
Passing out was the only reasonable thing to do so you allowed your body to succumb to its weakness, vision slowly turning black as the seed of another man slowly ran out of your abused hole. Silence took over and the last thing you could hear before you finally lost your consciousness was a ragged sob leaving your lovers lips who felt entirely helpless when his brother carried your limp body away, making sure you won't be seeing the daylight any time soon. “You're mine now… we’re going to have so much fun, little one” Nai hummed and patted the small of your back which was flung over his shoulder. “You're going to love me just like you love my brother and maybe I let him have you again. I need to train him first, make him listen” he continued and somehow he sounded like he really cared for his brother and he's only doing it for him. One thing was clear however, loving Nai would never happen. You weren't sure if you could act like you remotely tolerate him after he violated your body the way he did. The image of having Nai resting on your chest as you caress his back and hair in the most gentle way made you heave, glad that the lack of food prevented further things from happening when you felt his rough hand rake through your hair, a sick grin greeting you when you finally opened your eyes. “My pretty little thing. You're going to behave, don't you?” He asked in a sickenly sweet voice before prying your legs apart to take a good look at his seed smeared all over your folds. “I won't stop until I hear you scream my name this time and he will hear” he hummed, a finger gently massaging your clit now, not even the way you pushed your legs together stopped him from breaking you, enjoying the struggle on your face as you tried to hate it but your body started to betray you. “Listen to this, sweetheart” he chuckled and pushed two fingers into you, ramming them against your sweet spot which caused your slick to coat his fingers, squelching noises filling the room so you could listen to your own betrayal “you can let go now, allow yourself to enjoy it. You have no choice anyways” he pointed out, venom lacing his voice and he was right - he knew exactly how to get your body to betray your mind, velvet walls fluttering around his fingers when his thumb came to rub your sensitive clit. No matter how much you held it back, the orgasm that soon followed was inevitable, his loud laugh echoing off the walls as he kept going, drowning out your mewls of forced pleasure until you moaned his brothers name, his eyes darkening. “You ungrateful bitch” he hissed and slapped you across the cheek again but you laughed as the blood left your mouth. He could break your body but your mind was one thing he could never break. Your heart belonged to Vash and he would never have it… or will he?

oh my god. i just had a devastating thought
y’all know that tiktok audio from Fleabag? the:
“I love you.”
“It’ll pass.”
Imagine that, but with Vash. confessing your love just for him to reject you (kindly, he could never be cruel on purpose), even though he loves you too. he just thinks that rejecting you will keep you safe from him.
oh i’m dying actually

Hey there! Can you do a vash x reader request where they get into a big argument and reader starts to cry? Like they're still mad at him but they can't stop those tears from flowing
Of course! Love some angst and I am gonna a lil cruel with this one too, so apologies in advance I live for pain.
TW: none really just a copious amount of angst with no comfort >:3
Tumblr media
Vash never intended to make you cry, to break your heart into a million pieces in that paper thin walled motel. He just wanted you to be safe, to not put yourself in harms way. But here he was, practically towering over you as you both yelled at each other.
You had accusatory finger pressed to his chest, while Vash flung his arms around to try and get his point across. Neither party was going to give in to other, no matter how much petty insults were thrown between the two.
"Why can't you just accept my fucking help? Everytime you run off and get yourself in trouble, I'm expected to sit back and just let it happen? Fuck that!" You spat angrily, shoving Vash away from you as his face scrunched into a look of agitated disbelief.
"Because you get yourself hurt each time you interfere! What happens if you get killed one day because you can't keep to your business!" Vash countered, clearly frustrated that you weren't understanding him at all. Why didn't you see he just wanted to protect you?
An offended scoff let your lips, arms folded over your chest as you glared at him. "That will never happen! I'm not incompetent you know, I can look after myself!"
"You are incompetent! Not to mention cocky and uptight, you wield a gun like you're not absolutely horrendous with it, and don't even get me started on your flimsy excuses of why you intervene! You're not as good as you think you are and I don't need someone like you to jump to my rescue!" Vash slapped a hand over his mouth, eyes wide upon realising what had just slipped from his lips. Before he knew it, apologies spilled frantically out towards you, only to stop once he saw the tears slip down your cheeks.
Hot, anger filled tears streamed from your eyes, teeth clenched as you tried to silence your sobs. Vash moved forward, hands outstretched attempting to comfort you, only for you to shove him away. You desperately tried to wipe those tears away, angry words pouring from your lips as you continued to argue with Vash.
"I'm sorry I care about you, I'm sorry I don't want to see you get fucking hurt! It's not my fault I got stuck with an ungrateful boyfriend!" You sobbed, now the only one speaking as Vash remained silent, guilt evident having spoken to you so cruelly. So he allowed you to scream, yell and shove him even when he got too close in attempts to calm you.
Vash was so deep in his mind that he hadn't realised you'd become silent, storming past his sullen form as you slammed the door of the motel room, signalling your departure. Now alone in the suffocating room, Vash sat on the edge of the bed, head resting in his hands. He knew you've probably gone to Meryl, spending the night in her rented room while you calmed down. It wouldn't surprise him if the whole motel heard your screaming match, so Meryl comforting you at least brought some comfort, but he knew either way the morning would not be fun.
For now, Vash would let you cry it out, leaving you to catch your breath. Come morning he'd try to mend the scars he metaphorically cut into your heart, asking for forgiveness. Perhaps Vash ought to put more trust in your skills, maybe even take time out of the groups breaks to hone your shooting capabilities, just enough to have some peace of mind that you'd be safe jumping to his rescue.
But until then, he'd remain awake, thinking back on what he could've said instead of what he did. Regretting hurting your feelings.

Thanks for answering! My ask is gonna contain spoilers for Trigun Maximum. And I'm writing this again cuz tumblr hates me.
Could you write about Vash and his romantic partner reuniting after Wolfwood helps him escape from the Ark? The blanket he's wrapped in is big enough for two and he needs to be held ngl especially after being held for so many months.

There were times you wished life was...normal. Why couldn't you have fallen in love with someone else?
To spare yourself from those sobbing nights, save yourself from breaking your head over a problematic man like him. But those butterflies and baskets of pastries said otherwise to your heart, and the kind nature of his that just brought you in deeper and deeper.
Life was never so simple was it?
You never did like it that way anyways.
And perhaps after spending so much time with him, with them, that it made you stray away from that idea of something "normal" that you had imagined so long ago. When you did, he was always in it.
But no matter who it is, or who had done what, No Man's land spared no mercy for the weak, for the strong, or for those who just simply wanted to love.
And those long days felt like a nightmare you had wanted to wake up from.
7 months since the spiky haired goofball of your boyfriend had danced his way into your kitchen, calling out your name as you couldn't help but chuckle at the way he playfully pranced around, tapping the tops of your shoulders with his fingers.
"Hey you didn't have to wait for me ya' know!" He beamed, a twinkle in his eye as you set food down on the wooden table. "Vash you know I'll always wait for you."
"I knoww~ But I don't deserv-"
"Don't! Say what I think you were gonna say." You huffed out, having brought out a box from the side and putting it on the table "You deserve more than you think. Now cmon, I passed by the bakery and got some pastries and donuts. You said you liked the normal ones right? They were kinda pricy but I still-"
Vash momentarily droned out what you were saying, eyeing the way you moved, the faint blush on your soft cheeks as the heels of your shoes sounded out against the wooden floor boards under your feet.
Caring, smooth, quick.
The corners of his mouth lifted up, smiling from the curious gaze he had given you, eyes crinkling at the edges as he gave himself a playful nod in affirmation before sneaking up behind you.
Muah!
The quick kiss he gave you on the cheek snapped you out of your rambling, as his clothed arms snaked around your waist in a warm embrace.
"Thank you love..."
7 months since you had come back from town, having gotten things you needed, that you stood in the hot, dry sand. With a basket in hand, you looked up at your porch from a bit away. Spotting Wolfwood, you had instinctively raised your hand to greet the priest before holding your voice back. Something was wrong.
Very wrong. And you had a gut feeling it was gonna be a while.
The disheveled and dirtied state he was in and his cross laid out beside him as the knuckles of his cut-up hands were close to knocking on your door before he slowly turned towards you, having heard your steps in the sand.
Onyx eyes full of gloom, regret, and...
Your blood went cold, feeling a knife stab right into your stomach as you just stood there. The realization dawning upon you, eyes slowly widening at the prospective of what had come about of your lover.
May the world please bring him back to you. Please let Knives spare mercy on these two sides of a battlefield that he shared against his brother. The deserts had gone quiet again, your basket laid forgotten in the sand as nights came and gone.
Let Vash come home.
An aching eternity it felt like, some days you went staring at his empty chair at the dinner table, or whenever you helped up on the floating ship, imagining the ghost of a laugh he would let out whenever he saw the residents aboard.
It was tiring, and those restless nights thinking about what his brother was doing to him, those treacherous thoughts were ones you feared.
But the day Milly and Meryl had knocked on your door with the news that Vash was back home, away from The Ark, was one that you would never forget. How could you?
With how you scrambled around the house, you hadn't noticed how fast your legs hauled you over to the ship when you had been close to dry heaving, finally standing in front of one metallic door to the many rooms it held.
He's here!
Vash is back! He's- He's-
You tried to catch your breath, a sweaty hand on your chest as the voices behind the door faintly sounded out, making the depths of your body churn in worry and nervousness.
Shit, maybe you should've given him some time to recover. Did you act a bit too quickly? But after all of these months... You should let him rest-
"Ah!" You squawked out, hastily taking a few steps back as the door swung right open, revealing a tightly bundled up Wolfwood as he stepped out, shutting the door right behind him before shooting you a calm gaze.
"Ya know, I'm surprised you didn't just run right in. Blondie even cleared the room out before you got here." Passing by you, you couldn't help but watch as he began his stride down the hall.
Wait.
"WOLFWOOD!" You called out, making him stop in his tracks as he turned his head to the side.
"Thank you. I don't how to repay y-"
Letting out a big sigh to cut you off, he scratched the side of his head "You ain't repayin' me shit, just get in there already. I'll catch up later.."
What kind of man would Wolfwood be to keep two lovers apart anyways?
'A sinful man I would be...' He pondered for just a moment before leaving you behind, leaving you alone to take his word. And with sweaty palms, you indeed did, putting a hand on the cold metallic door knob, turning and pushing it open.
With cold air hitting the surface of your face, you noted the large coffee table and couches in the room, mugs and plates scattered around as you took a few more steps inside. Signs of life...
"You're okay..." You heard a voice say out, making you whip your head to the right and being met with another blanketed bundle of man sat on the couch. But how couldn't you recognize that soft gaze of blue, the messy blonde hair and pink slippers on his scarred feet? Vash tiredly smiled up at you, tilting his head to the side as he looked you up and down.
God how could he smile after so much?
His pink cheeks had sullen, the purple bags under his eyes prominent as the exhaustion was obvious, but he kept that same kind smile after everything he had gone through.
How?
How?
"You look goo- WOAH!" He gaped out in surprise, quickly throwing his arms wide open to catch your figure as you threw yourself at him and into a tight hug, pushing the both of you guys back onto the olden couch.
And before you knew it, the both of you had cuddled up against each other on said couch as you held Vash's head up against your chest, the pads of your fingers soothing the side of his cheek as you rested your chin on top of his head.
"Oh Vash..." You quivered, trying hold back the tears in your eyes as you felt his arms around your waist tighten, the blanket the two of you had been wrapped in rustling as he brought himself in closer.
The weight on his chest hurt, and it felt so heavy.
"I'm sorry." He choked out as you felt tads of wetness on your shirt, his sobs filling the emptiness of the air as his rough hands gripped the back of your shirt in desperation.
It didn't matter how hot the bare skin of his chest felt under the blanket, nor did it matter if the elbows and knees of his body ached and the spine of his back felt like needles.
You're the closest to comfort and peace he's had in the last 7 months, and he couldn't let you go.
"Don't apologize. I..I don't think you really know how happy I am to have you back." You cried, finally broking down, leaving kisses on the top of his head as he continued to wail against your chest "I would've been so lost..."
'You felt like home.' And you always did. Vash shut his eyes as the two of you stayed entangled together for the next few hours.
Having cried, talked about what had happened in the last 7 months, and the future before drifting off to sleep on the very couch.
Under the blanket of love, did two lovers finally reunite before the tribulations that had occurred and were to come.
"I love you."
//
"I would've been so lost, because you felt like home."

"I love you."
"It'll pass."
It never did. Your heart only ever did beat for vash. And it didn't matter if it was during a hot day or cold night or a windy Tuesday, the words I love you still ricochet in your heart as you think of the humanoid typhoon.
And you wonder.
Your mind begins to wander.
If it'll ever pass.
It won't.

↳ “𝐈 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖, 𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐎𝐊𝐀𝐘.” — vash the stampede
CW: angst, hurt and comfort, blood, bullet wound, mentions of panic attacks, slight implications of self harm, slight dissociation (like barely but just incase), a little more tristamp vash coded
pulled this out of my ass in 30 mins, i really enjoy writing vash angst i apologize
Tumblr media
you frown silently as vash hisses in pain. blood running down his tense forearm as you finally pull the bullet from his shoulder. you can see his jaw unclench as the pain eases just a little.
“there, it’s out.” you say quietly as you drop it into the trash can left of the sink, a solid clank sounding out into the hotel bathroom as it hits the bottom. when you turn back towards vash, he’s leaning against the sink counter, watching the crimson blood make its way over his wrist and into his palm.
vash’s eyes start to unfocus and his breathing becomes unsteady. his blond hair cast over his face as he looks down, yet you can read him so clearly. and he’s either about to have a breakdown or go into a panic attack.
you reach forward with your clean hand and take his jaw in your hand, redirecting him to look at you. and he does, it just takes a few seconds to register your face. when he does, you can see his eyebrows twitch downwards.
“you did what you could, okay? she’ll be alright.” you say softly, referring to the little girl from earlier that he saved. luckily she left the scene with only a few gashes on her arms and legs. yet vash, with a bullet wound and a darkening spot under his eye, still feels guilt eating away at him inside.
“i should’ve grabbed her faster. the moment i saw that guy get up, i should’ve-“ vash blurts out.
“hey. it’s over. he’s being taken care of at the sheriff’s and the girl is fine— you saw her with her mother earlier, right?” you say calmly. you were trying not to throw vash into a breakdown. you could tell he was being raw and vulnerable right now, even though he couldn’t look at you, it was written all over his face.
as soon as the blood trickles down to his fingers, vash is staring down at it. the dark red against his peachy white skin. unconsciously, he rubs it with his thumb, feeling the wetness of it on his finger pads. vash clenches his fist and looks at you with hard eyes. none of his public act, his usual bright personality completely gone. yet you don’t waver.
“you don’t understand,” vash grumbles, his harsh woods rooted in frustration, “you don’t understand at all, i— i could’ve— should’ve stepped in front of her earlier.” he says louder, and you can’t tell if hes scolding you, or himself. “it’s my fault any of that— that happened— it’s my fault! someone was hurt because of me!” his voice is breaking and you swear there’s a tear running down his cheek. you can’t quite tell by the dim bathroom light.
you sigh as vash raises his voice in front of you. it wasn’t something he did very often —to anyone as a matter of a fact— yet when he did, you knew how to handle it. he’s in a bad headspace: his breathing is starting to pick up and his hands begin to shake a little. when he roughly swipes his bloodied fist over his face to wipe his tears away, is when you step in.
you take his hand in yours, his blood smearing on your palm but you don’t care. on the verge of a break down, whenever he balls up his fists, you can tell he’s close to taking his anger out on himself. with a hurt look on your face, you slowly intertwine your fingers with his.
“you know i don’t like it when you talk about yourself like that.” you whisper quietly as you lean in a little closer to him
“i… mmh,” vash holds his tongue, eyes softening, your words hitting him like a truck. you’ve told him this before and he knows it.
a small frown on your face, you reach up with your clean hand and wipe the tears and the smear of red off his face. you squeeze his hand softly in yours.
“it hurts me to hear you say those things about yourself. i… i know you’re not feeling well right now— i know you feel guilty but…” you choose your words carefully, “but, i want you to know that it’s okay. it’s okay, and you’re okay.” you say softly, stroking his cheek with your thumb. vash stays silent.
“you’ve done more than you think, and i know you’ll never believe me, but i’m proud of you. of— of what you do and what you believe in. but i just wish you’d give yourself a little more credit… okay?”
god and vash’s heart aches. your words shoot straight through him and he feels his skin is on fire. he feels himself caving in, both mentally and physically. vash drops forward and onto your shoulder, his hands finding their place around the small of your back.
it is true, the guilt was indeed eating him up inside. your words hit him where it hurts, where he needs it to hurt. if you say he’s okay then… he’ll believe you. it’ll be okay just for a little bit, just for tonight to be a little bit selfish.
you close your eyes as you feel him finally relax, his tired body slumped against yours. you wrap an arm around his waist as your other reaches up to pet his head, fingers gently coaxing his hair. you can feel him crying, its silent, but you’re glad he’s letting it out. hunched back hiccuping and shaking as his tears soak into the cloth of your shirt.
so you stand there, eyes closed as vash leans himself on you. you let him relax into your hold, letting him forget about his burdens and responsibilities for a little while. you hold him up when he needs it most, and he couldn’t be more grateful.
vash stops crying after a little while, just short, huffed-out breaths every now and then. he picks up his head from your shoulder and pulls back to look at you. his eyes are red and a little bit puffy, but theres this faint, real smile on his face. he doesn’t have to say anything for you to understand: i’m sorry. thank you.
vash cups your face with his clean hand, mimicking just like how you did for him. he closes the space swiftly. his lips meeting your welcoming ones as he gently caresses your face. vash kisses you softly, unspoken words passing through his mouth on yours with ease.
vash pulls back slowly just to rest his forehead on yours, his breathing turned even and calm.
“i’m sorry, i got my blood on you.” vash apologizes quietly, pulling back his hand from your back, a sheepish look on his face knowing there’s a blotch of blood on your shirt.
without hesitation, you press his hand back against your body and connect your lips with his again. “i know, it’s okay.”

Promises of False Kisses...
TW. Angst, body dysphoria, Big Body...
Blinking neon lights from the bustling Chinatown outside illuminated the bedroom. You could make out the silhouette of the knocked out man next to you. The top sheet barely covered his hips, hiding nothing from your gaze, and the smirk that seemed to plastered upon his peaceful face made you chuckle quietly before the deep ache of loneliness creeped in.
This man literally fucked you stupid and made you feel wanted in your own skin, fat rolls and dimpled thighs included. You knew that you weren’t the preferences of chiseled gods like him during daylight hours, but you knew gods like him always wanted to be with a girl that was only beautiful after 10:15. The only type of girl men like him loved at night. So you grew into your mid thirties learning to hit it and quit it and became closed off to the wonderful idea that you were meant for…feelings.
Standing quietly and moving with the finesse of a trained ninja you gathered your clothes and your heavy Doc Martens. Once you slipped on the easy dress and your jacket you looked one more time at the man illuminated by the red neon lights…then you left out his door. Disappearing into the throngs of souls upon the street you hugged yourself and tried to hide the body you hated. The usual intrusive negative thoughts of post nut clarity began to hit and you rushed home so you could shower and scrub off the remnants of the false hopes of men like him.
With the scalding shower and your skin now scrubbed the feel of the oversized hockey jersey hiding your body you finally lay in bed. Plugging your phone in and feeling the promise of a small amount of serenity encroaching. You stared at the ceiling, you hugged yourself once more, and could feel the pricks of tears. It was the curse of being in a bigger body…you were pretty enough for nighttime false kisses and whispers…doomed for the loneliness and revolting aversion to the promise of romance you passed by daily.
It wasn’t that you were mad at the world…you were just mad that you were never good enough. So here you lay in your bed…in your shitty little apartment…watching the lights from the busy streets light up your ceiling. You knew that men like him would never give you the time of day…but you smiled knowing you got to keep those false kisses and whispers to fill your stories to cover the fact your loneliness was real and give you the jaded view that love perhaps wasn’t real.
So you fall asleep smiling with tears and loneliness ripping through the fibers of your heart as you remember the way his large palms caressed and made you feel wanted. The way he kissed you so deeply and the way he made you feel like a goddess…you thought about that smirk and the laughter…you dreamed of what was never meant to be.

notes:  this is a short story - I have plans for a part 2 from the reader’s pov. not sure if I will write anything beyond that as of now xo
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ tags: royal au; angsty; nai’s feelings get hurt :c; inexperienced nai; pining; mentions of vashwood; mentions of arranged marriages; mentions of infidelity; sacrilege (?);
Nai felt the ground beneath his feet disappear. The voices surrounding him turn into static while the vibrant gowns and suited garments blend together with a swipe of a single brushstroke. Suddenly he can’t see the picture clearly, and his blue eyes sting as he widens them with unpleasant surprise.
Did you really just say that? he thinks with a furrow of his brows.
Did you really just say that…that you hate him?
You?
His entire body pulses as he stumbles over his long stride, pushing past the crowd of dignitaries to make his way outside. There is no room for manners, no reason to murmur an “excuse me” with the way his heart is racing, with the way his mind is spinning in pirouettes like the dancers around him. The ballroom suddenly feels claustrophobic, and he needs to get some fresh hair after your words knocked the wind out of him.
Each step towards the garden is a reminder of why he disliked this castle, of the despise he feels towards the opulence of it all. The gaudy interior is a representation of the vast wealth and history that his family inherited once they overthrew the old kingdom, and symbolized the sacrifices that were made to keep the power.
He escapes into the gardens, the scent of blooming moonflowers greeting him upon arrival but the fragrance only exacerbates his faint mind. He settles onto the marble bench hidden between the bushes before releasing a long, drawn out exhale that he didn’t even realize he was holding in.
Nai’s throat tightens - of course, your words came with a reason…it’s just after everything, he didn’t expect to hear them from you.
Nai and his brother were the brains behind the kingdom’s thriving agricultural trade, but controlling the abundance of the land was only possible because of him. Both brothers held equal accomplishments that garnered them a level of respect that went beyond their royal titles, but it still wasn’t enough to win over the people’s hearts because of the blood on Nai’s hands.
Without his action his family and people would have suffered under the hands of brutal terror, and with that Nai had no regrets.
When he fought fire with fire, everyone was suddenly petrified of the beast who was crowned the winner.
He knew that most people didn’t take well to his personality or his beliefs. His distrust towards others was purely a fault of his own but one he couldn’t easily shake. The old kingdom had planted a seed of hatred that sprouted into an undying tree within him. Unlike his brother, Nai held onto his grudges which allowed them to fuel his motivation for control. His “odd” behavior led to petty gossip of why he’s remained a king with no wife or heir, but his reputation of being the “radical twin” preceeded everything else. His subjects thought he was cruel and cold, comparing him to a chilly tundra unlike his twin who is regarded as the warmth of summer.
Vash’s smile can radiate an entire room, while Nai’s eclipses the light.
Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and Nai knew that Vash would never be capable of carrying these burdens while keeping a pragmatic mind. His kindhearted nature would always get the better of him, and Nai was fully aware that the power that he holds can only exist with malice by his side.
However, Vash still remains his most trusted confidant despite living his life at his own free will. He maintains the peace between the kingdoms, since many of the leaders refuse to deal with the “stubborn and sadistic” king himself. Vash’s personality earned him many friends and plenty of connections, and somewhere through the grapevines, you came into the picture.
Nai was suspicious of you at first. He couldn’t understand why you were hanging around his brother like a moth to a flame. Using his spies to pry into your motives, Nai soon learned that your family had expectations on you marrying the duke. This fact only made his wariness over you grow, because even though he couldn’t stand most people around him, Nai did cherish his own brother with unconditional love.
Marrying into their family would garner you power, status and most importantly, influence.
“Does she even know about the priest?” he blantantly asked Vash over dinner one night.
Vash’s cheeks turned pink, and he awkwardly laughed before scratching the back of his head nervously. “You mean Nicholas?”
Nai rolled his eyes, “You know that’s who I’m talking about...”
“O-Of course she does! I had her visit the church just the other day. She wanted to sit through one of his sermons...”
Nai picked up the glass of wine before puffing out an exhale. His brother always maintained a level of innocence by playing stupid, but Nai knew his secret. His little trysts with the priest have been brought to his attention many times before, but the king quickly dismissed the blabbering rats that were festering around the castle for the sake of his brother’s honor.
He pieced together why Vash was entertaining this silly courtship right then and there - a marriage would be the perfect solution to squash any rumors about him and the priest.
“You’ll need my blessing for this to carry on further...”
Vash’s smile fell, “I hope you’ll give it to me...”
Nai placed the glass down on the table, flicking his gaze upward to look directly into the eyes of his twin.
“If that’s what you want” he conceded, knowing full well that Vash has forgiven him for far worse.
After that day, your visits were extended which led to you residing in the castle for an extended period of time in the last year. Nai may have given his brother the blessing he needed to carry on this facade, but he chose to keep his distance from the messy entanglement altogether. A part of him didn’t want to admit that he was the slightest bit jealous of his twin who had all the means to swing a beautiful woman like yourself even under the disguise of a lie, whereas Nai easily turned heads in the other direction.
None of these things should have even mattered, until one fateful night when he caught you by yourself in his private garden.
You were standing there admiring the night flowers in bloom, delicately arching forward to breathe in the scent emanating from purple and violet petals. The king is familiar with beauty - he’s seen plenty of attractive faces within his court and at royal balls - but there was something about the moon’s bright light radiating around you like a halo that rendered him speechless. You weren’t just another pretty face, you were a stunning creature straight out of the myths that he loved to read, a living goddess who made his heart skip over itself effortlessly.
When you raised up from sniffing another flower is when you finally caught his gaze, and Nai quickly buried his feelings as he furrowed the front of his blonde brows with annoyance.
“What are you doing here?” he snapped through gritted teeth, digging his fingers into his palm and noticing only then that you were clutching a journal tightly against your chest.
“Your majesty,” you replied calmly with a courtsey, a slight shake in your voice the only indication of your nervous tone. “My apologies, I...I simply wanted to see your garden. Vash...uhm-..I mean, the duke, told me it is one of the marvels of your kingdom...”
Nai hated the way his cheeks warmed at your saccharine voice. He could feel the tips of his ears turning a deep crimson, but he wasn’t going to drop his defenses over empty compliments.
With his head held high he strode towards you, gazing down at you with sharp, condescending eyes and a disapproving frown. He heard you draw a tiny inhale as he stopped just an inch away, almost as if he was trying to intimidate you into running off scared like a frightened rabbit.
“I-I’ve never seen an angel lotus before,” you stammered out your excuse, and glanced toward the bed of light blue flowers beside you. You proceeded to pull the journal away from your chest, your shaky fingers flicking through the pages until you found just the one you were looking for. “I’ve heard they are quite rare to source and are extremely temperamental to care for...”
Nai arched his brow as you showed him the inside of your notebook. At first he wanted to scoff and knock it out of your hands, but the minute he caught sight of your handwriting, he found himself pausing.
His slender, long digits reached for leather, and he clasped your journal in his hands as he scanned over the pages.
There were detailed notes of various flora, fauna, plants and herbs. You had drawings of each of them, dissecting parts of their anatomy and making little notes where you cross referenced the species. He skimmed through the pages, brushing over the messy lines and various points in between - a collection of facts and thoughts that you accumulated through time.
“Forgive me for overstepping, your majesty, I-I didn’t mean to snoop-”
“Angel lotus’ aren’t temperamental, they are sensitive..” he interjected as he continued sifting through your notes, all the while swallowing the flutter of excitement he was feeling at this very moment. “..according to legend, the seeds were gifted by ancient gods who wanted to bring a piece of heaven to humans, they were never meant to exist in our world which is why it’s so hard for them to thrive in our environment...”
“Is that so?”
Nai shut the journal close, returning to meet your curious eyes as he handed the book back. “Their petals bruise easily, they wilt with the slightest change in the weather, they refuse to sprout if the soil isn’t right...but with enough patience they learn to adapt, to adjust, to grow...they don’t require attention, they demand it”
You smiled at his little tale with intrigue, and the man’s chest grew uncomfortably tight.
“Where did you learn all this, your majesty?”
He reached his finger over to a single flower, brushing the pad of his digit just underneath the petal and you swore in that moment you watched it nuzzle lovingly against him.
“My mother taught me...”
That conversation was the start of it all.
Night after night, Nai would search for you in his garden. At first he would pretend to be surprised to find you there until eventually he became comfortable meeting you casually. The two of you would spend hours talking about your love for the natural world. Nai answered your questions about the variety of rare plants he grew in garden, and in return you offered tips from your own bank of knowledge that you aquired over time.
Eventually those conversations delved into deeper, more personal things. Botanical topics were replaced with childhood stories and hard truths, deep thoughts and sighing dreams. You were cautiously prying him open, and he found himself revealing all the skeletons in his closet.
“Why aren’t you afraid of me?” he asked on your last night before heading home, while the both of you were standing outside his glass greenhouse.
You leaned back against the pillar of the gazebo placed just at the front, tucking your bottom lip between your teeth to stop yourself from smirking - a nervous trait that the king had grown entirely too fond of.
“Should there be a reason to fear you, your majesty?”
“I have enough blood on my hands to fill an entire river,” he stated quite matter of factly, his cold eyes diminishing the blooming warmth in yours.
He watched your face fall, making him huff with acknowledgement until you caught him by surprise when you boldly reached for his hand.
“As does every other ruler,” you replied honestly.
“None were as violent…”
“The tyrant who ruled this kingdom reaped the benefits of it’s resources while allowing his people to suffer under poverty and enslavement. Now, it’s thriving once more…”
He was taken aback by your insistence...by your desire to find honor in his actions.
Nobody else in the world saw him this way.
All they saw was the homicidal maniac who slaughtered anyone who opposed him.
He snatched his hand away from underneath your palm in agitation, growing increasingly more frustrated that you were making it difficult for him to ignore his infatuation over you.
At least if you hated him things would far, far simpler.
Nai used his hand to hook around the back of your neck. “Maybe you should be afraid. I can easily take advantage of you at anytime,” he loosely threatened, feigning his intimidation as his heart drummed between his ribs. “ruin you for any other man, soil your reputation...”
Your throat bobbed when you swallowed a gulp of air, but the interaction only resulted in you tilting your head up and brushing your lips over his own as you held your ground.
“Then ruin me”
Whatever power he thought he possessed over you dissipated in that instance. Nai loosened his grip and exchanged it for a delicate caress as he slowly stroked his thumb along the column of your neck. He hesitated for only a moment, before pressing his lips onto yours and planting a chaste kiss. He lingered for a few seconds until a shiver crawled up his back, and forced him away.
He was highly aware of his own self conscious, and wondered if you could taste his inexperience. Dropping his hand by his side, Nai lowered his shameful eyes as he tried to compose his behavior.
A gentle touch forced his chin upward, and you expanded your fingers across his jawline to return him back to his previous position.
“May I, your majesty?” you asked feverishly.
“Don’t…” he adamantly rejected.
“Please, Nai?”
Hearing his name purr out of you in a dreamy, dulcet tone had him weak in the knees. He should put you back in your place and remind you of who you were speaking to, but instead the man simply nodded his head.
You tapped your forehead against his and kissed the corner of his mouth.
“I’ll guide you,” you whispered, like it was a secret that you were swearing to keep.
Usually he would fight and argue over the indecency of it all, but this was a special case. He soaked every little peck you delivered before parting his mouth and allowing the sweetness of your tongue to slide along his.
He explored you with boyish wonderment, languidly finding his own rhythm to your tender movements. You leaned back and allowed the pillar to brace you as your arms circled around his neck to pull him closer. His hands fell to your waist, gripping the fabric as his thumb rubbed over the material to feel the boning of your corset underneath. The touch starved king suddenly realized his own hunger when he devoured you, with the kiss growing increasingly more desperate the longer he savored you.
When he pulled away to catch his breath, his eyes filtered with lust as they fell to your heaving breasts and swollen lips slick with spit. His digits dug into your waist, a desire to knead your soft skin at the forefront of his mind. He arched down once more to nibble on your bottom lip, before creating a short trail where he left a few light kisses on your jaw and one on the exposed part of your neck. He nipped and sucked on the tender flesh, feeling your hand grip the threads of his golden hair as you hissed with pleasure.
When he pulled away he smoothed his thumb over the area where he marked you, dragging his finger back and forth across the imprint with satisfaction.
Blue eyes caught yours in a heated stare, but no other words were spoken. He carefully retracted himself from your body, only leaving his hand intertwined in yours as he carefully led you back to the palace before separating himself when you both were within visual sight.
He went to bed that night with chills and an ache tearing him up from the inside. The strain in his pants was unbearable, and for the first time in years the man stroked himself to a desperate release.
The king only realized the severity of his actions when he saw his brother the next morning. Vash was seeing you off, and the two of you were in the middle of a conversation while absentmindedly staring at the footmen who were loading all your things onto the carriage.
“What a nasty little bug bite, you have...” he overheard Vash state with indifference.
“Y-Yes, it’s quite strange,” you replied coyly, covering the bruise with your gloved fingertips. “I really should be more careful spending all my time outdoors...”
Nai couldn’t resist but smile quietly to himself, approaching the two of you with confidence as he watched his brother study the mark that he left. He cleared his throat to make his presence known, prompting both you and Vash to face his direction.
“Your majesty,” you curtseyed instantly, the tiny sparkle in your eye sending his heart racing.
“You’re here!” Vash greeted politely, “What a surprise! I didn’t think you would show up...”
Nai remained poised, but his gaze never left yours. “She’ll be apart of this family soon,” he announced casually, “plus, I found this out in the garden and I figured you might want it...”
From behind his back he revealed your leather-bound journal that he sneakily managed to swipe from your room thanks to a couple of servants.
“My notebook! I was looking for this all morning!” you remarked with relief, forgetting yourself and your manners for a moment.
Vash chuckled as he reached for the book from his brother’s hand and passed it along to you. Only then did he notice that longing gaze that lingered, and he flashed his brother a puzzled expression as he shifted his eyes back and forth between you both.
Nai gave you a slight bow as a dismissal, “very well then, I guess we’ll see you in three weeks time”
“Yes,” you replied breathlessly while trying your best not to allow the awkwardness to linger.
“We’ll be announcing the engagement at the ball,” Vash pointed out, cutting the tension with a sharp pair of scissors with words that coiled around the king’s heart. “Now that we have both our families blessing”
“Indeed,” Nai bitterly acknowledged.
The man releases another long exhale, his eyes fixateing on the crescent moon and bursting stars above. The silence was stirring up every precious encounter, but all Nai could think about is how your voice didn’t sound like one that belonged to you when you adamantly claimed that you hated him.
All this time, he assumed that maybe there was something more, that for the first time somebody saw the man buried underneath the weight of the crown. He sifts through he memories in search for something that he might have missed. An unknown signal of betrayal or a wicked glint in your eye masked behind your kindness that would indicate some level of deceit.
He grimaces at the thought, the strain inside his chest prompting him to bury his hands deep into the heel of his palms.
He can’t help but wonder if you read the letter that he tucked into your journal on that fateful morning before your departure, all the while thinking if he is truly so despicable that even at his most sincere, he isn’t worthy of any kind of love.
