GARTER DAY AT WEST SIMSTER ABBEY

It’s Garter Day at West Simster Abbey and the Investiture of King Felipe of Oasis Springs

The Most Noble Order of the Garter is an order of chivalry founded by Albert II of Windenburg. The Order of the Garter is dedicated to the image and arms of Saint Aaron, Windenburg's patron saint.

Albert II was so inspired by tales of his father, Albert I and the chivalry of the Knights of the Great War that in 1852 he set up his own group of honorable knights, called the Order of the Garter. Over 100 years later, the Order is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in the Windenburg honors system. The Knights, now both male and female, used to be limited to aristocracy, but today they are chosen by the Monarch from a variety of backgrounds, in recognition for their public service to The Crown.

Today, the Order includes the King, who is Sovereign of the Garter, several senior Members of the Royal Family, and ten Knights chosen in recognition of their work. The orders supernumerary knights and ladies include foreign monarchs.

The annual Garter Day procession is one of the most traditional ceremonies in the Monarchs calendar. Every June, a grand procession of the knights takes place at Windsor Castle, accompanied by a marching band and Officers of the Order, all in grand ceremonial dress.

The day begins with The Monarch formally investing any new Companion(s) with the Order's insignia in the Throne Room of Windsor Castle.

Due to renovations at the Castle, this year’s investiture took place at Buckingsim Palace.

The Monarch and spouse then entertain members & spouses, and officers at a lunch before they all processed on foot to a service at West Simster Abbey.

There is a short service where any new Companions are installed. This is the first year, since it’s inception, the service was not held at St Leo’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

The Sovereign and other members of the Order then return to the Upper Ward of the palace in carriages and cars.

The Duchess of Brindleton Bay and the Duke of Kent followed.

This year, King Felipe of Oasis Springs will be the newest member of the ancient Order, as Lord of the Knights of Garter. The King of Oasis Springs is a formidable King and a distant cousin to His Majesty King George. It’s not often a King kneels for another King but these sacred ceremonies are indeed special.

The Knights also honored Tupola Boulle, Emperor of Sulani, with a moment of silence during the short service. The Emperor, knighted in 1981 by King Edward II, passed away last year. Another noticeable absence from this years ceremony was Prime Minister Churchill, who has been noticeable absent from court and the House of Commons.

Just random shots from that last few days of game play from TS4 and ESO. The baby update and new expansion is great...except for some game "breaking" bugs. I'm sure the game won't break but they are irritating. The babies are freaking adorable and difficult so I like it! I haven't played TS4 for this long in a while. I admit, I missed my families I play with but with the bug that I have: when I switch houses the "milestones" my infants gain disappear and I can't relearn them. SWEET!! That's quite a feature...I'm being sarcastic. I've turned off aging and going to focus on one family at a time without traveling with the infants, which kind of defeats the purpose, honestly.

On to ESO. It's the Jester's Festival. I managed to get the Daedroth costume and I freaking love it. I first put it on my dragon knight and had her running around breathing fire because I'm basically a child in an adults body. The details are very well done and honestly, it was worth the grind for me. Now if only I could get the last piece for the princess piggy pet and I will be set.

Bonus pictures of cosmetic eyes that make my character cross eyed... I'm sure that wasn't intentional and from inside a public dungeon. I went in to kill goblins and wandered into an area that was simply lovely. Snapped pictures. There we go.

As for life, it's the same as it ever was. It's not fantastic but I won't complain because it's not as bad as others so there we are. Everyone take care, be well and stop and appreciate things that are important to you and when you see something that you think is beautiful. Life is short. Have a great week!

Meeting new people has always been challenging for Simon. It sucks even more because he's awkwardly sitting in the middle of a conversation between his friends and Ophelia's friends. Simon has no idea what to add to the topic because they're having a massive debate about strawberry ice cream; Jeremiah states that it's the worst flavor in life, but Kameron calls him out because who in the hell enjoys mint chocolate chip ice cream. The girls are ganging up on him for enjoying that flavor, with Ophelia being the loudest and Jane focusing on Simon. That's another thing he dislikes: the way Jane's staring at him and pushing her body towards him. Simon also hates how Jane's acting towards not only him but Kameron and Jeremiah as well. She keeps using this fake high voice, insulting the other girl's taste in ice cream, teasing Ophelia about her books, and Simon doesn't like her that much. But, he does like how everyone's getting along even though he's feeling uncomfortable as hell because this is something Simon can tell his therapist about.

Penny: *nods* Did she do something?

Simon: No, it's a personal problem.

Penny: Can you explain? If not, you know I understand entirely.

Simon: I've never really spent time with a teenage girl, and I don't know how to form a bond with her. 

Penny: Never?

Simon: Like, I had foster siblings that were teen girls, but I didn't stay with them for long to have any connection with them.

Penny: *understanding* This is your long-term home, so you're out of your element.

Simon: Yeah. Ophelia's nice, but I don't know how to bond with her because we have nothing in common.

Penny: I understand, and you must give these things time, Simon. Don't worry too much about this; I bet you'll be inseparable once you two find something you both like.

"You two girls done fighting because this is getting out of hand." Cadence glances at both Jane and Ophelia while messing around with her nails. She makes sure her tone sounds playful and amused, but she's scared that her two friends might start a fight.

"Seriously! Kiss and get over it!" Cadence feels her body relax when she hears Brielle's funny comment, an attempt to make the others laugh so they can continue their walk home. But, looking over at Brielle, she immediately notices her friend's tense shoulders and how she moves her hands around, something she does when nervous. It seems like the two friends are sharing the same thought as they continue staring over at Jane and Ophelia. Their freckled friend is the first to laugh, quickly getting over whatever tense air was drowning them. However, Jane still has her arms crossed, glaring over at Ophelia.

"That's not even the saying at all!"

Percy: *concerned* Did something happen? Did they say or do something? Grandpa Ambrose needs to remember to use his filter.

Simon: *shakes head* No, I don't really like meeting new people and don't want to come across as weird or rude to them.

Percy: Simon, it's alright. I think they picked up on that, and it's okay.

Simon: I felt like a dick when I didn't say anything and ran up the stairs.

Percy: They didn't complain about it when we were all talking.

Simon: Really?

Percy: Yeah, they asked a few questions about you and hoped to talk to you one day.

Simon: *nods* I hope I can get to that point, but first, I gotta eat at the dining table.

Percy: *smiles* My mom will flip when she sees that, and dad will probably drop dead, but it'll be awesome.

Zaxton: Really? What's going on with them? Is the vet clinic doing alright?  

Perry: *nods* Atlas' vet clinic's doing great. Helios and Zofia are thinking about adopting again. They told me they were calling to talk to you, but both of you were busy and didn't call back.

Ambrose: I wanted to ask what that was about, but I'm assuming the new addition to your family is what kept you two busy.

Pandora: Yeah, his name's Simon Collins and you know how hectic it can be when we get a new foster child.

Zaxton: *nods* And the surprise visit probably made him feel uncomfortable.

Perry: I sensed that because he didn't look at me when I offered him some cookies.

Zaxton: You made cookies? How long were you here for?

Ambrose: Like an hour or two. If you have a problem with that, Zax, you shouldn't have given us house keys.

Zaxton: Sir, I have no problem with you and your wife baking cookies in my kitchen.

Ambrose: *sips coffee* Good.

Pandora: Mom, can you tell your husband not to intimidate MY husband in our home?

Perry: Rosie, don't scare Zaxton, and what do you all think about pasta for dinner?

Simon: They're trying their hardest to bond with me, and I appreciate that because they are also giving me my space.

Penny: Not feeling overwhelmed?

Simon: No. Zaxton's teaching me the piano, but he doesn't get mad when I make a mistake, and I've been stalking an egg with Pandora because we don't know when it'll hatch.

"Simping after my foster sister?" Simon smiles and tries his hardest to mask his laugh while Jeremiah fully lets it out because what the fuck kind of apology is that? Kameron opens and closes his mouth, resembling the fishes that Simon would spend hours watching in his last foster home.

"I spent the last ten minutes talking about Ophelia without knowing your relationship with her!"

"Dude, they could've been dating, and you spent the last forty minutes talking shit." Jeremiah laughs at his two friends, finding both of their expressions funny.
