Thinking about the multiple episodes of voyager that are just women falling in love with tuvok and tuvok being like “I have a wife”. I love him so much.
image description: a digital illustration of Tuvok from Voyager standing in a botanical garden looking thoughtful, he is wearing a brown robe with yellow patters around the sleeves, belt and neckline. He is holding a pair of shears in his left hand, and a yellow watering can in the other. He is watering a white orchid plant. Behind him are light brown trees and large green leaves. The border around the drawing is orange with a green background, and there is an orange flower with green leaves at the top. Bah-ker, the vulcan word for garden, is written at the bottom with patterns on either side. end description.
For Tuvok Tuesday, let me tell you that this morning, out of absolutely nowhere, I imagined Tuvok saying "In the immortal words of the earth band, Destiny's Child: 'I do not think you are ready, for this jelly.'"
A thing I love about Star Trek is that each series has a good number of well-rounded and complex characters. Meaning that whenever I reignite my obsession for one of the shows, I can find a new character to fixate on to suit where I currently am. Rotating blorbos. It’s great.
New trek writers are like i know how to write vulcans and then i watch them nearly maim themselves trying to eek out a narrative that only has the depth and weight of a saltine cracker.
Like Voyager GAVE you the groundwork to understand the vulcans. Its not that they do not have fun or lack emotions its that they feel so much they have to keep total control of it and direct themselves with rationale/logic. They have an entire culture based around doing CBTherapy on themselves bc they want to live normal lives instead of being subjected to their brains chemistry overload like. Its not hard. We have books. We have books to understand these things and maybe if you like, thought abt writing them as a people instead of a mascot animal you could make a show stick a landing without its legs shattering into a billion pieces
Image descriptions: a three page uncoloured comic about Janeway, Tuvok and Neelix. The first page is Tuvok and Neelix sat at a table as Janeway sets down a huge bowl of shrimp fried rice. There is a speech bubble coming from her that reads “Shrimp fried rice!” The second page is Neelix looking shocked saying £Gee Tuvok! Do you think a shrimp really fried this rice?” Tuvok looks unimpressed. The panel after shows Janeway with her arms folded looking fond, while Tuvok states “Neelix please, if a crustacean were large enough and intelligent enough-” The next page is him pointing at the fried ride saying “it is logical to assume that shrimp may have fried this rice.” The final panel is Tuvok and Neelix sitting at the table, with Neelix saying “Wow!” Janeway is smiling with her hands on her hips. A thought bubble coming from her shows a meme of Shrek holding a camera captioned “snap. Yep. This one’s going in my Tuvok compilation.” end descriptions.
