Blind Date ~ Jung Yunho

Your eyes widened as you continued to look through your memory box as Yunho picked out a dusty bit of paper. “This was the menu that they gave us on our very first date.”

“I remember that restaurant that we got told to go to.”

Yunho slowly turned the page so that the two of you could look through the menu, pointing out as you remembered the things that you had ordered on your very first date, a blind date in fact that a couple of your friends had decided to organise for you both.

After years as friends, your friends at the company couldn’t take much more of the unspoken feelings between you both. After coming together for quite some time, a plan was formed, with Changmin encouraging Yunho to head out on a blind date, and Yuri convincing you, unaware of what was going on.

“I hate to say it, but I’m still really thankful that they organised this for us both.”

You were beginning to think that the guy wasn’t showing as you sat at the table, sinking down as you noticed Yunho walking into the restaurant. Your eyes narrowed as the waiter led him across to you, pulling the chair out that was opposite you at the table for him to sit in.

“No way,” Yunho laughed as he looked across at you with a shake of his head, “Changmin told me that he had organised a blind date.”

“I’m here on a blind date,” you frowned in reply to him, “or at least that’s what Yuri sold it as.”

It didn’t take long for the penny to drop and for the two of you to figure out exactly how you had ended up at the exact same place together. Once it all made sense, the two of you found yourselves in fits of giggles at the effort that they had gone to.

Yet, as the two of you talked over the reasons as to why you had been set up on a blind date together, it opened a can of worms for you both. A lot was spoken about, plenty that you had always wanted to talk about, but never found the confidence to do so.

“I have a feeling why we’re here, Yunho sighed as you both fell silent, “they think we like each other.”

Your head nodded as you sat back in your chair, “do you think that they’re right?” You asked him, too nervous to look across and meet Yunho’s eyes.

A hum of agreement came from him in no time at all though, having always known how his heart felt about you, knowing how yours felt about him was all that he needed to know that he didn’t need to hide away from his feelings any longer.

A foot tapping against yours caused your eyes to look up as Yunho recaptured your attention. He could tell he was shy, a rare occasion for you when you were around Yunho, a little more fearful than he was to talk about what was going on with you both.

“Do you think they’re right?” He asked you.

A slow nod of your head soon followed.

You could never have imagined that Yunho would actually end up liking you, having spent so many years close, but as friends. Your friends had mentioned it a couple of times, but each time you dismissed them, laughing them off as crazy.

As you sat up again, Yunho did the same. “I can’t believe we might have to go back to work and tell them that they’re plan of a blind date has worked.”

“We’re never going to hear the end of this.”

Yunho nodded in agreement with you, having denied your friends for so long when they tried to tell him that you liked each other, he couldn’t believe that at last he was having to admit defeat and realise that they were right all along.

“I wouldn’t have said anything if they didn’t organise this though.”

“Me too,” Yunho weakly smiled across at you, “it’s certainly given us the chance to talk unlike how we usually do.”

“How did we know, but everyone else did?” You asked him with a chuckle

“We were scared to ruin our friendship, but now we don’t have to be.”

“I still remember coming home and laughing out of relief that our blind date had gone well,” you informed Yunho as the two of you finished reminiscing about how the night unfolded. “I didn’t sleep a wink that night when I got home.”

“Changmin was waiting up for me at the dorm.”

“I bet he had the smuggest smile on his face when you got home.”

As expected, the two of you didn’t hear the end of it for quite some time, especially a few weeks later when the two of you finally confirmed that your relationship wasn’t just as friends anymore, but as something more.

“He still rubs it in today how right he was that day,” Yunho laughed as he threw his arm around you. “Just about every single time he sees you he whispers into my ear how it’s thanks to him that the two of us are together.”

“We might have confessed one day without them.”

Yunho’s head gently shook back at you, “I honestly think that I always would have been too scared to tell you how I felt about you.”

Your eyes widened slightly, “even now? You still wouldn’t have said anything?”

“You make me so nervous Y/N.”

Your hands pressed to either side of Yunho’s cheeks as you leant forwards and pressed a kiss against the tip of his nose. Before your date, you could have never imagined the way that you made Yunho feel, he always hid it so well from you.

“You know, the girls still like to remind me too,” you chuckled in reply to Yunho. “Every time they see the two of us, even if we’re just holding hands, they send me a look as if to remind that they’re the one responsible.”

Yunho’s head shook at how proud your friends were, glad that they had pushed you both together. They all knew how happy you could have made each other; it was just a case of getting you both to see it too.

Every single one of them were relieved when you finally got together, glad that you no longer had to pretend as if you weren’t interested in one another.

As Yunho closed the menu, he placed it delicately back into your memory box. “There’s so many things in here, but I still that menu and the date that we had with that menu mean the most to me out of it all.”

“It was the start of everything in this box,” you smiled, “without it, this would’ve probably been empty, and the two of us would still be friends too.”

Yunho nodded in agreement as he placed the lid back on. “These days I could never imagine the two of us not dating. I can barely remember a time when we were just friends, I just always remember liking you and trying to be cool around you.”

“What if maybe we ended up getting with other people and stared friends forever?” You smirked, continuing to stare across to his eyes. “I mean, if neither of us had agreed to that blind date, who knows where we could’ve ended up?”

It was a thought that Yunho didn’t want to think about, relieved that in the end things had worked out beautifully for the two of you and your relationship.

“No other guy would have ever been good enough for you,” Yunho suddenly announced, “I knew all along that the only guy for you would be me, it was just a case of telling you that.”

“I agree, there was never anyone else for me but you.”
