#ULTIMATE FISHING SIMULATOR 2 REVIEW LICENSE#

That’s all great stuff to have, of course, but the meat of the game (so to speak) is the catching of fish. There are also many, many more types of fishing techniques, equipment, lures, baits, and other fishing-related items in the simulator, some of which are actual real world brands. While it shares a lot of the same types of fishing mechanics (casting, setting the hook, reeling in, etc.) with FC5, the challenges provided by the UFS are more in line with those of real world fishing. Bears, coyotes, wolves, and even turkeys are out to get you too.įortunately, just as I was starting to hope for a somewhat more realistic sim, along came the Ultimate Fishing Simulator. That said, the extremely dangerous FC5 world itself provides plenty of other challenges - the fact that you’re blissfully ignoring your surroundings while fishing is a recipe for getting shot to death. If you can’t catch a fish in five seconds in Far Cry 5, it can only be because you’re casting with your back to the water. It was fun for awhile, but the challenge of it was not in the catching of the fish. FC5, for the unaware, is an open-world game that allows you to almost completely ignore the storyline of the actual game in favor of things you would rather do in the vast and complex world. I got a friend to remove it from the hook.Ībout a month ago, I discovered simulated fishing in the last place I would have expected it: Far Cry 5. The third was a fingerling bass and was so small that I didn’t even know it was on the hook until I reeled in for another try. That’s kind of like accidentally sinking a ball when playing pool: yeah, you scored, but it was just blind luck. Fishing was the obvious choice.Īfter five months of effort, I have caught four fish, and two of those hardly count because they were accidental snags. Gardening equates to work (see also: weed whacking), stamp collecting in the era of email and IM seems pointless, and I’m not ready for Bingo. My history with golf is long and painful, so that was out. While I had periodic opportunities to fish throughout the years, and actually managed to catch a good-sized bass at one point, I never pursued the hobby with any kind of regularity until a few months ago when the initial frenzy of early retirement was starting to taper off and I was forced to find some new and interesting pastimes. As an aside, that little jerk of a fish drew blood when it speared me in the palm with its dorsal spikes, leading to a fifty year history of me never wanting to touch a fish again. And for a good number of years, that little Bluegill was the only fish I caught. Just my luck - a defective bobber! I reeled it in, only to find the first fish that I ever caught. On my very first cast, the bait hit the water and the bobber immediately sunk. It was very much an introduction of the classical variety: a cheap Zebco reel, a kid-sized pole, a bobber, and a hook for a worm to ride on. My first experience with fishing occurred roughly half a century ago, back when I was only six or seven years old.

Which begs the following question: what is your reviewer’s personal background when it comes to fishing? Well, I’m glad you asked, even if it was just rhetorical license on my part. But because we’re talking about a simulator, parallels to real life are pertinent. After all, we’re here to talk about the Ultimate Fishing Simulator, right? Yes. That wasn’t discovered until the next day, though, so I got to spend 12 hours in “The Blame Zone.” This is where the awkward coincidence comes in: the failure of the AC had absolutely nothing to do with the weed whacking. Hmmm, what (read: “who?”) could have caused that? Two hours later on that hot & humid Sunday afternoon, my wife pointed out that it was getting mighty toasty in the house, the cause of which was a non-functioning air conditioner. This time around I managed to get the string of the trimmer all tangled up in the cables and such that feed the air conditioner. I’m sloppy at it, to be honest, and I have done a lot of damage to innocent pieces of vinyl siding and plastic fence posts. A recent example was just a few days ago when I performed my monthly weed-whacking around the periphery of my house. Nothing could be further from the truth, though - the reason for that title is the never-ending string of awkward coincidence that has been the very hallmark of my personal history. I recently decided that if I am ever narcissistic enough to write an autobiography, the title of the book (soon to be a major motion picture) will be “ It Sucked to be Me!” Sure, that sounds pretty awful, almost as if I led a life of deprivation and pain.

Some original games do not work when a certain application has been installed, like DAEMON Tools.

When using Fixed Files make sure to use a Firewall which controls outgoing traffic, as some games call back to report the use of these modified files!.

When this happens use the original EXE to play online, else you could find yourself banned from the game!

Some No-CD/Fixed EXE files work fine in Single Player mode but are detected to be modified when trying to play online.

A Cascading Fix

The floating garbage patch in the Pacific Ocean a huge ongoing issue. Plastic is the worst offender (and no it’s not all drinking straws and plastic bags— it’s mostly discarded fishing nets). Skimming would be too costly and unrealistic (it’s country sized— big country). Plus is almost a biome at this point— you couldn’t scoop out the trash without also scooping animals/eggs/plants basically causing more havoc trying to clean it up.

So what do you turn to? Bacteria

So this area has been in active research for 25+ years as the ultimate solution to dealing with plastic waste.

Should be great right? The lifespan of a bottle in a landfill falls from centuries to weeks in a vat. It’s such an alluring goal that people gloss over the path

Brute forcing thousands upon thousands of mutations on an enzyme that specializes in breaking down hydrocarbons sounds wildly risky.

Because what if you get one that does too well?

Future Forecaste

Silicon Valley Tech Bro Billion wants to try and improve his image as a part of the private jet class by holding a big public competition for innovative solutions for the garbage patch. Encourages all of his tech bro buddies to pitch their ideas. Billionaire promises to fund a pilot project for the top idea.

What wins out? Bacteria

And they apply the Facebook ‘move fast and break things’ philosophy to brute forcing mutations. Garbage patch is in international waters, so no approval (or oversight) to go and test your ideas.

In fact, with being out in the middle of the ocean, you can build your lab right on a boat and sail out there. And test your iterations right there. In the ocean. Why test on a simulated garbage patch when the real one is right there?

Success! A strain that breaks down plastics in a short timeframe in the cold of the ocean! Your test site quickly goes from floating landfill to. something?

The enzymes broke the plastic into component nutrients. So you now have effectively dumped a whole flood of nutrients into the water. Kinda like dumping fertilizer

Cool. So now you you have turned garbage patch into the Great Pacific Algal Bloom and Dead Zone

And the bacteria isn’t staying put. Oceans have a way of moving things, and you just built a hardy sailor with a plentiful food supply.

The bacteria makes it to shore and suddenly, plastic isn’t permanent. Plastic isn’t safe in water. Every seal and gasket is now prone to failure. There is a rush to figure out which types of plastics are susceptible, which are resistant. New plastics with bacteria resistance are developed.

But that’s not even going to be the biggest issue

We’ve Got a Fuel Pox on our Hands

If it likes to eat plastic know what it’ll love? Gasoline and any other hydrocarbon

This bacteria would essentially turn gas into soy sauce. Think about fuel rotting

Suddenly world’s energy supply is at risk. Fear of contamination becomes the oil and gas industry’s number one concern. Gas becomes an even more precious commodity, and is only used when application demands. The industry takes on surgical level of cleanliness.

Meanwhile other people are prepping ‘Kombucha’ for their local pipeline

The Collector’s Challenge is a multi-round gameplay challenge based on collecting items for each round and, ultimately, completing the household collection list. This Challenge is entirely based on the Collector's Legacy Challenge by @simdiv so all credit goes to them (thank you!!). I only modified this as a non-legacy version. If you’re into legacy challenges you NEED to try theirs out! 

*To find the household collections in-game, open your sims inventory, click the diamond in the top right of the box and boom, collections*

Rules: 

No cheating! The purpose is to enjoy the gameplay and find out new things you haven’t discovered before!.

You may start with a starter lot - use skills and your job (if the round requires it) to build/buy what you need. Remember, you can sell your house if you are moving in the next round!

You may use an existing Sim but their household funds should be no higher than 20,000 Simoleons.

Keep your collectibles! They can be helpful in other rounds and, of course, bring in some much needed funds if you get duplicates by selling them!

Aging can be on or off (aging on might add a little more of a challenge).

Some rounds require certain packs. If you do not have a pack, skip the round!

Use the hashtag #ts4collector so we can all see your gameplay!

Good luck and have fun! This is the MOST IMPORTANT RULE! Switch around the rounds, skip a round! Make the challenge work for you!

Round One: Frogs and Fishes

You love froggies, you love fishies.  So start collecting them!

Rules:

Collect every frog and fish

Complete the Angling Ace aspiration (optional) 

Have a room dedicated to your beloved frogs and fish (Mounted or in tanks)

Max the fishing skill

Become a part time fisherman until the next round

Note: Some fish need to be caught in Forgotten Grotto, which you need level 10 handiness to get into.

Round Two: Gardening Guru

Watching plants grow fascinates you so in this round, you’ll be… fascinated!

Rules:

Collect all gardening plants and all the Magic Beans

Have a garden/farm/greenhouse for your beloved plants

Max the gardening skill

Complete the Freelance Botanist aspiration (optional)

Note: You can obtain the magic beans through rare seed packets.

Round Three: Bits and Bobbles

You LOVE MySims trophies and holiday cracker plushies so get to collecting!

Rules:

Collect all the MySims Trophies and holiday cracker plushies

Have a display/room for your trophies and plushies

Live in an apartment in San Myshuno 

Round Four: For science!

Your passion is the study of metals and crystals. You’re about to geek out collecting all of them.

Rules:

Collect all the metals, crystals and microscope prints

Have a room/display for your metals, crystals and microscope prints.

Complete the element display rack

Complete the Scientist Career (optional)

Round Five: Meals and Memories

You love collecting postcards, you love eating weird foods. This round is all about you and your weirdness, friend. 

Rules:

Collect all postcards and take photos of all the experimental foods

Max the charisma skill

Complete the Friend of the World aspiration (optional)

Go to a restaurant every Friday with your friends and/or family

Round Six: A Bug’s Life

You always loved bugs and this round is all about that love affair, baby. 

Rules:

Collect all insects and feathers

Have a room dedicated to your beloved insects and feathers

Max the Herbalism skill

Round Seven: One small step for Sim, one giant leap for Simkind

What’s not cool about the unknown reaches of the Simverse? 

Rules:

Collect all Space Prints, Aliens, Space Rocks, and Geodes

Have a room/lab dedicated to all your space related items

Master the rocket scientist skill

Round Eight: Variety is the spice of simulated life

All you need to be happy is your decorative eggs, your childhood collection of void critters and your sugar skulls. 

Rules:

Collect all the decorative eggs, voidcritters and sugar skulls

Have a room/display for all your items

Paint as your main source of income

Note: To be able to collect the decorative eggs, seasons is required and you need to make a holiday (Like Easter, for example) and select egg hunting as one of the activities. 

To get sugar skulls, offer a skull to a gravestone and look for the Day of the Dead celebrator around the neighborhood.

Round Nine: Welcome to the Jungle!

The jungles of Selvadorada are calling you! Collect every treasure you can get your sticky little hands on.

Rules:

Collect all the ancient Omiscan artifacts, Omiscan treasures and fossils

Have a room and/or display for all your artifacts, treasures and fossils

Max the Selvadoradian culture skill and Archaeology skill

Learn to make at least 4 of the foods that you obtain from the food stand in Selvadorada

Round Ten: Exploring the Big City

Grab all the posters from around the city and collect all the snow globes you can find.

Rules:

Collect all the city posters and snow globes

Have a room/display for your posters and snow globes

Work as a part-time retail employee (Optional)

Round Eleven: Sand and Suntans

You are officially headed to Sulani to collect all the seashells you come across and all the buried treasure you can find.

Rules:

Complete the Beach Life aspiration (optional)

Have a room/display for your seashells and treasures

Have Kava parties with your friends every weekend

Round Twelve: Doin’ the Mountain Move

Random thoughts about the new ultrakill update because I just beat REDACTED and I’m high on adrenaline right now also massive spoilers for the new update from now on:

First of all Blåhaj Is now cannon to the ultrakill universe my god.

Second holy fucking god all mighty wait of the world is so good it’s insane brutally difficult yes but the design the unique enemy challenges the atmosphere and the MUSIC it’s insane p-2 is not just a level it’s a fucking experience.

Now on the bosses:

Panopticon: I can’t believe hakita created an entire song for a boss where you take of a quarter of its health and then another boss kills it from the inside cause he’s bored.

Sisyphus prime: the boss that literally everyone predicted but god where we not ready thought Minos prime was hard think again. The angry sumo wrestler lightbulb man is going to crush you to death and he’s enjoying every second of it. While the Minos prime boss fight is ultimately sad because Minos does not truly want to fight you but believes he must in order to avenge humanity. Sisyphus is just bored and wants to have fun for the first time in a millennium. While Minos has nuclear drop kicks Sisyphus IS a nuke and after dying like a hundred times beating him makes you feel like a god and I so needed that right about now.

Finally the terminal lore drop at the end of P-2 is insane 1. The terminals are sentient 2. There bored and the only way to stop it is watching other machines fight 3. Both the scoring system and point systems are in universe metrics for which the terminals judge machines fighting and give them new weapons based on how they performed.

4. THE CYBERGRIND IS CANNON and it’s a simulation that any machine can plug into at any time for the amusement of our terminal overlords.

MELIORA - Track by Track

"The idea for this album was since it began, to write, to make an album that sounded "futuristic / pre-apocalyptic".

Spirit - It is the first song that was written for the album, and pretends to be an introduction with a melody of terror in tech-esque Ed Wood sci-fi. Lyrically, it pretends to be a hallucinogenic trip to the spheres of demons and devils, guided by the green muse. Situate in 1929, just before the crash: The New York sky illuminated at night. An office inside the Empire State Building. A big fish tasting absinthe before jumping from a cornice. His first look at the wells of hell.

From the Pinnacle to the Pit - We've always craved a truly thunderous song based on riffs, Led Zeppelin style. Something that sounds great to hear coming out of the stereo of a car in the parking lot of an American high school. Lyrically, it is about the classic tale of Icarus and Lucifer to illustrate how ultimately souls are ambitious, according to the myth, when facing the fall

Cirice - Initially this song was thought of as a complete dome theme, with an even longer intro (see Devil Church). As we already had other songs that had these great refrains we thought about the song that we could leave the long choruses out ... But in a coffee shop, the chorus appeared out of nowhere and we put aside our dome theme without chorus and ended with a ballad of heavy power. Lyrically, it is a simulation of the relationship between religious authority (church or sect) against the small person who can not differentiate empathy from pure manipulation. Everything disguised as a love song.

Spöksonat - At the beginning of the preproduction we had clear the need to introduce an interlude between a couple of very intense songs, so we took a fragment of a song that is not in this album (which we, as we often do, leave for later) . The first half of the song is a small piece like a climbing spider that comes from a song called RATS, that you will know in a couple of years.

He Is - This is the oldest song on the album, written 8 years ago (in 2007) and originally was not intended for Ghost. We have always felt proud of ourselves for being blind and for trying to think with originality when we try to see how our songs are supposed to sound, but it seemed a little distant and not something that would fit. However, in 2010, after a dazzling afternoon accompanied by friends (other musicians, the Swedish band In Solitude and the Dutch The Devil's Blood), where we played several songs for others and we could hear the demo of this song, Originally titled "Lei è (she is). Selim from The Devil's Blood insisted that this song had to be registered as a Ghost song so we had to change our mind. And in the end we did it, with the help of our friends. We tried to make a demo for Infestissumam but we never felt comfortable with this version and decided to leave it aside to use it better in the future. Unfortunately our friend Selim committed suicide a few years later and inspired us even more to make the song for this album. Lyrically, it is a love song inspired by Romeo and Juliet in which one of the lovers guides them towards the belief that there will be some beautiful place in some place where their love can prosper without contact with the outside world. It is a song about faith and devotion. [Selim Lemouchi (1980-2014).]

Mummy Dust - The idea for this song was already in the mix when we recorded the Opus Eponymous but it did not convince us and we left it for a better day. When the theme for this new album came a couple of years ago, adding also elements of "urban night sky", everything took on a perfect sense to give another opportunity in this album. Lyrically, it talks about the only god in which modern people believe (and venerate); Mammon.

Majesty - It is not very different from the pinnacle to pit, it was a song based on a riff, but currently it is supported by riffs around a vocal base on which the song is supported (it is the way of composing of Ghost). Lyrically speaking, it is to our understanding, on the one hand, a song (or hymn) about the dark lord of the underworld. On the other hand, it shapes a matrix of people, in a completely destroyed or disastrous world, idolizing an authority or dictator who is clearly above them. It's like loving something that hates you.

Devil Church - This little instrumental piece was originally written as the beginning or first part of Cirice, but when the song grew and became longer and longer (and better) we decided to separate it into two tracks, it could not be a single song since Devils Church stands alone as an autonomous piece of music.

Absolution - Another song based on a bass line. Like the third song of the disc has a chorus with five measures, unlike the typical four.

An easily understandable vocal line is added, and we complicate things below the musical base, as we like to do so much. Lyrically speaking it is a lament of the modern woman or man, who spend their lives thinking that their possessions have that something else that allows them to be above any responsibility.

Deus in Absentia - First, the structure of this song was written in a piano backstage at the Grand Sierra Resort Hotel, in Reno, Nevada, during our tour along with Mastodon and Opeth. The simple guitar riffs probably come from the fact that they were composed in "claviature", which usually means, from a guitarist's point of view, that you penetrate the song from a different angle to be able to compose it that way. Lyrically speaking, this song speaks about a modern and ambitious person, just at the time of his death, or, possibly, at one of those crossroads of life in which you feel or think you are seeing or reaching the end, like Satan speaking with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, where they are talking very close."

One of my favorite features I’ve ever seen in a video game was in the game ultimate fishing simulator where it had an online radio built into the game so you could listen to like 150+ radio stations totally free while you fished. It’s amazing. You can listen to jazz or country or house or Hawaiian or classical or electronica like literally any genre you can think of they had in this fucking fishing game’s online radio. Every game should have that.
