I’m back and I made some self-indulgent headcanons.
I whipped up some headcanons about a few of the Total Drama characters and about how they would be with a significant other who has seizures.
DISCLAIMER: I have epilepsy myself; I get that my experience is not everybody else’s. The epilepsy headcanons are based off my own seizures and how I am/feel after one happens.
(Also there’s no real rhyme or reason as to why I chose these characters oops)
Bridgette:
Bridgette’s pretty composed in the moment of the seizure, albeit pretty shocked and scared when you have it. She catches you when you start to go down, and knows at least some of the basics of epilepsy care in laying you on your side and making sure you don’t hit anything.
Bridgette tries not to make you think too hard when you start regaining consciousness; sticking to asking how you’re feeling and guiding you to somewhere where you can rest.
She asks why you didn’t tell her about your condition, but she asks in a gentler way as opposed to someone like Heather. You admit that you hadn’t had a seizure in months and thought you’d been doing good. You thought the new medicine was doing its job.
You’re not as sore after this seizure but you are pretty wobbly. Bridgette’s pretty klutzy on land herself so while she’s not exactly a good candidate to help you get up and walk, you do ask her to at least watch you and make sure you don’t fall down and hit your head on anything else or fall down any stairs.
Courtney:
Out of all of these characters, Courtney is one of the best to be around when it comes to the actual seizure itself. She’s always taken charge in a crisis, and is immediately laying you on your side and yelling for people around her to help move items that you could hit your head on.
When you regain consciousness, Courtney starts by asking if you’re okay, then by asking if you know what day it is, what you were doing before the seizure actually happened. You’re a little overwhelmed and beg her to just let you take a nap, and you’ll explain later. She apprehensively agrees.
Sure Courtney’s heard of epilepsy and sure she has first-aid training, but she’s never actually seen someone have a seizure before… and being good in a crisis doesn’t stop her from being worried for you. Is Y/N okay? Why didn’t they tell me they had seizures?
You wake up after about an hour-long nap; head throbbing, tongue bitten and something sticky on the front of your shirt. You also smell iron very faintly… crap, you got blood on this top. You sit up and sure enough, Courtney’s sitting next to you. You tell her that you were diagnosed with epilepsy years ago and that this is just another Tuesday for you, and you’re happy to answer any questions she might have.
She’s on you like a hawk for the next few days; making sure you take your medicine on time, asking how you’re feeling, if there’s anything she can do to help. You tell her that you appreciate that she cares about you, truly, but that the best thing she can do right now is just… not worry.
Ella:
Ella doesn’t know anybody with medical conditions like this and she’s never had to think about it, so she’s not prepared and is scared to the point of crying when she sees you start to twitch and fall down pretty hard. It’s Sky who tells her that you must have some kind of seizure disorder; her ex-boyfriend Keith had seizures too.
You feel strangely normal after this seizure, minus your legs being sore. You wake up to some soothing singing and sure enough, Ella’s kneeling by your side with some pain medicine and a water bottle.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you, you tell her with a strange sense of guilt as you sit up. You take the medicine and a gulp of water, and procede to add, my sleep schedule’s been out of whack. Counting to three in your head, you slowly stand up, and Ella takes your hand… and then pulls you into an unexpected hug. Unfortunately you’re pretty wobbly and she winds up knocking you both down.
I was so worried something bad would happen to you, Y/N. Her voice is choked up- a complete 180 from her usually sunny demeanor- and your heart drops a little bit. I mean, of course this was bad, but you could have… I mean…
You return the hug and reassure her it’s okay, that you’ve been dealing with this for years and that it’s just another day, and you’ll do everything you can to be careful. In the meantime, do you want to go on a walk together? Your legs are actually really stiff and you think it’ll do you some good.
Heather:
Unlike Bridgette and Courtney, Heather isn’t quite as good in a crisis, so she goes straight into panic mode when she sees you go down. Courtney’s the one who helps get you to where you need to be (lying down, head not hitting anything) and then Sierra tells Heather that you’re epileptic… nobody questions how she knows that.
This seizure was a little harsher than they have been in the past; you’re pretty sore and you have a bloody lip. It takes awhile for you to regain consciousness.
There’s a bit of a debate between you and Heather as to whether to take you to the hospital, because you’re pretty vehement about not paying thousands of dollars for a ride in the wee-yoo wagon whereas she thinks you’re being unreasonable. Heather ultimately brings you there herself.
While she at least waits until you’re home to blow her top at you, she does still blow up. Why didn’t you TELL me about this, Y/N? Didn’t you think I would have found out sooner or later? Yes, you lamely admit, but you were embarrassed and had no idea how to bring it up. Does it change her view of you?
Of course not, you idiot, she says. But don’t make me worry like that again; I love you- she puts her hand over her mouth, completely caught off-guard at the words that just escaped her lips.
You scrunch into yourself sheepishly. Right, you say, no more worrying. Gotcha.

aaaaaggggGGGGHHHH why wont other games scratch the itch in my brain the way stardew does?!? >:(
"why dont you just play stardew then" i have almost 3k hours on steam and switch combined. i PLAY stardew valley. a lot. but sometimes you need to try other things too! but uuuughgh i can't find anything that just, Gets those mechanics down in a way thats engaging the same way sdv does.
there's a couple of games im looking forward to that probably will be what im looking for, but they're fuckin early access made by indie devs and won't be full release for years to come and it's agonising hitting those content walls :')
